The space
The lookout tower is a testament to the splender of the great outdoors, offering breathtaking views; River Forest Lookout commands spectacular views over the Cohutta Wilderness.
Rising 60 feet above the forest floor, this extraordinary structure is crafted from two shipping containers, referred to as "cabs". Inside, you'll find all the comforts you need, including a kitchenette, a cozy living area, a comfortable bed in the main cab, and a full bathroom thoughtfully housed in a second cabin. The Lookout is equipped with running water from a well, propane wall heaters, and even a mini wood burning stove to keep you warm during those cool mountain evenings. For eco-conscious guests, electricity is supplied by a solar panel system, ensuring a minimal environmental footprint.
Soak in the tranquil atmosphere of River Forest Lookout with Jacks River creating a harmonious symphony of nature's wonders. This gorgeous sight is visible from the main cab balcony and the rooftop terrace with a dreamy gas powered fire pit, creating a stunning stargazing platform.

Guest access
The Lookout tower is exclusively yours, without interruption during your stay, so relax, unwind, and make yourself at home. You will park your vehicle at the base camp, then drive a jeep one mile from the base camp to the lookout tower. When you check-out you will drive the jeep back to the base camp, from the lookout. Note: You can drive the jeep back out to the base camp at any time during your stay. Please note: there may be guided fly fishing taking place on the river, while you are there. Fishing on the property is available through our guided fishing trips only and must be scheduled in advance. Please inquire if interested.
Other things to note
Waiver Signing Requirement: Please note that all guests are required to sign a Waiver. After you book a link will be sent to you where you and your guest will go to sign the waiver.
Air conditioning: Air conditioning is available through the summer months (June through mid to late September).
Hiking in from the base camp to the lookout tower is no longer an option. Guests now take a jeep from the base camp to the Lookout.
