Paul was an amazing host from the start of the booking to the end of the stay. We had no problems and when we had questions he provided fast informative responses. The house is even more amazing than the pictures show, it is spacious and so peaceful. The animals wander around the grounds without a care in the world and we got to enjoy it all from the spacious balcony. The house is well equipped and had everything we needed for a wonderful stay.

This is one of the most stunning destinations I have stayed at. Having the wildlife so close was amazing! Yhe photos just dont do the house justice and having the swimming pool was a highlight for my daughter and us. Its far enough out of Durban to experience Africa and yet close enough if its the bright lights you crave. We will be back and recommend it to everyone. It was fantastic! Thanks for your hospitality Paul.

Would stay here again!!! The security at the gate were very helpful and found it easy to find our way. Very friendly. Open space and very relaxing. Clean, tidy and found everything we needed. Especially enjoyed the Zebras etc walking around the estate, so did my 4 year old. Host Paul was easy to reach via email.

Well I can only say this was by far the most beautiful place me and my family have and probably will ever stay in. The house it's self reaches whole new levels of amazing architecture with its open ceilings allowing interior views of the thatch. It was so much more than we had ever expected. The estate on which the house is situated is so peaceful and allows you to get extremely close to the animals of Africa. The views from the property cannot be described as words do not give it enough justice. But from sunrise to sunset the valley changes before your eyes with the sun highlighting different areas all day. All in all this property has given me and my family such beautiful memories that will stay with us forever and for such a reasonable price I will advise everyone to visit this most amazing part of the world. Thank you so much Paul All the best Mat

It was my second time at Paul's place and it certainly won't be the last:) My family and I absolutely love Paul's place at the Phezulu Estate, and Paul is undoubtedly the best host I've dealt with on Airbnb! If you are looking for a true African experience in luxury, look no further.

This Location is tranquil, beautiful and a feast for the eyes. I loved the views of this estate and to watch the animals grazing at every turn. It was a truly incredible experience and I have left my heart at Phezulu. Paul was always very prompt with communication and was easy to deal with. The house is lovely but does have alot of stairs so you would have to be vigilant with little kids but overall this place was really value for money and the estate is one of the best holiday destination's I have been to. Thank you Paul. I do see us returning to Phezulu.

My family and I - six in total - traveled to South Africa to visit a family friend who lives in the Hillcrest area. When we found this site on AirBnb we were ecstatic. It was close to our friend’s home and it appeared to offer everything we were looking for. We were wrong. It exceeded our hopes and dreams a hundredfold! My daughter stated on arrival, "The Airbnb photos don't do justice to the true beauty of this home." We had a delightful 3-week stay there and it will forever be our “African home.” We will never be able to view our time in South Africa without thinking about this home. Why is that? My wife loved to get up early, make a cup of coffee, sit out on the verandah as the sun rose over the Valley of a Thousand Hills, and watch the wildebeest or zebra, blesbok or impala, grazing nearby. The natural beauty of the surrounding area made the verandah a natural gathering place for us whenever we were in the home. While it was close to our friend’s home we soon learned that it was ideally located to so much more. I rented a van the whole time we stayed and we had a number of day trips into Durban. We went to the North Coast beaches, uShaka Sea World with the Wet-n-Wild water park, dining along the shore watching the large ships enter and leave the port, and shopping. But we also went into the countryside too. Just up the road is Pietermaritzburg (where Mahatma Gandhi was thrown off the train beginning his life of non-violent change), near Howick is the arrest site of Nelson Mandela, and then there is the Karkloof Canopy Tour (where you zip line over the trees getting a different feel for the land), and the Midlands Meander. If you are looking for good quality leather goods you have to go to Groundcover Leather Company, and a nice place to dine nearby is Terbadore Coffee Company (but call ahead to get reservations as they fill up quickly). Together, Groundcover and Terbadore make a great day trip. All of this is because of this home’s location making visits to both Durban and the Midlands really practical. After our day trips out-and-about, we would return home to relax. Some would go to their rooms to rest, some to the verandah, but I preferred to sit out on the little deck outside the master bedroom and watch the sunset on the horizon. Later, we would gather around a home-cooked meal in the dining room, review the day and look forward to the next. My only criticism would be that for stays as long as ours it would have been nice to have the option to use a television to watch the news and sporting events occurring in South Africa. In our world today, the television is another way we learn about the people who live in that place. In addition to the beauty...

Paul User ProfilePaul is a superhost.

I am first and foremost... a family man.
Outside of that, I pursue many interests in nature.
I am a strong believer in the conservation of all natural things and I have contributed a lot to conservation in Africa.
Building at Phezulu is just one of my contributions to creating and preserving another habitat for wild animals.
By staying in our house, not only would you be enjoying nature, you would also be contributing towards the preservation of it.
We have been applauded for not having a TV in the house, take the time to enjoy your family or chosen companions. Take walks or just relax on the verandah and enjoy the view.
