Applegate Lane is the perfect space for a romantic getaway, a girlie weekend, or two couples who love travelling together. The King bedroom comes with its own ensuite and TV plus a veranda to sit and enjoy a drink.
The Queen room has a view to the nesting pond for wild ducks and you can often see them teaching their little ones to forage and swim.
There is a lovely main bathroom just next to the Queen bedroom, also a full kitchen, dining and living area with TV.

The space
Applegate Lane is set in the grounds of Rose Cottage, a well known and often photographed property with gorgeous cottage gardens. It is nestled in the heart of Balingup village but remains private and secluded, just a short stroll to cafes and shops. In a little over one hour, you can be in the heart of Margaret River wineries or the internationally acclaimed surf of Yallingup. The Bibbulman Track, stretching from Perth to Albany, winds through Balingup and we welcome intrepid "Walkers" here at Applegate.
Our accommodation consists of the Hampton's Suite which has wonderful views over bush-land and nesting pond for the ducks. The fully equipped kitchen, dining and living room all have lovely views.
The pretty bathroom has a small laundry area for hand washing.
The French Suite comes with a sumptuous king bed, luxurious linen and your own en-suite. There is a private entrance and balcony where you can sit and enjoy quiet breakfasts, a good book or an afternoon tipple.
There is a beautiful deck surrounding a large pond in the garden. Relax and enjoy a refreshing drink under the trees as you watch the ducks swim by, or the myriad of birds that come to the garden to feed. This is a bird lovers paradise! You are also welcome to pick any of the wonderful flowers and produce in the extensive cottage gardens.Applegate Lane is sumptuous and chic...I just know you will love staying here!

Where you’ll be

Balingup, Western Australia, Australia

Balingup has many different festivals throughout the year, each with its own quirky theme. Starting the year in April, we have the Small Farm Field Day which showcases local produce, farm animals and machinery plus talks by experts in all things agricultural and sustainable.
In July comes "Telling Tales", a wondrous weekend for children of all ages with authors and locals reading and weaving the imaginations of the young.
August sees the immensely popular Medieval Carnivale when the streets teem with knights and their ladies and the town is transformed into a Medieval fairground. Starting with a feast and dancing on Friday evening, the fair begins with a parade to the grounds, crowning of the King and Queen followed by jousting and horseback archery. There are many colorful stalls where you can purchase your own Medieval trinkets or have your future read. It culminates with earthy drumming and dancing around the sacrificial burning of the dragon. A truly fun weekend for all!
Travelers who visit Balingup should visit the Golden Valley Tree Park, a local historic treasure of European and Australian native trees. The Bibulman Track winds through it and there are facilities for picnics and BBQ's.

I have lived in Balingup for the past fourteen years. It is a magical, supportive community that is known for its wonderful artists, musicians and of course gardens. My garden is my love and my passion, along with my dogs Molly, Moet and Toby. I also enjoy musical soirees at the beautiful Pear Tree Cottage and sometimes take my camera to the Golden Valley Tree park to capture the changing seasons. I love to relax playing my cello, or stretch friendships practicing the violin! Most of all I like to relax on the deck near the pond with a good book. The cooler months in Balingup are truly beautiful. Misty mornings, cozy evenings and long walks in the Golden Valley Tree Park. There are many exciting festivals to look forward to, Telling Tales (for the children) in July and the fantastic Medieval Carnivale for everyone, in August. Come and join the fun!! My favorite place to be other than Balingup, is France. I hope to spend part of each Australian winter there soaking up the culture, language and food.
