The neighbourhood

Concerning your stay:
You'll find most information about Copenhagen online, so here's a few tips on sites that'll help you plan.

For restaurant, café and night life guides, you can visit or If you are longing for a more quiet time then you’re encouraged to visit the cozy Christianshavn's beboerhus (Dronningensgade 34) nearby which is open from Monday-Saturday, where you can buy a simple but good dish for 45kr. or 65 kr.
If interested in art, the best way to find out about current shows in small galleries etc. is at

Getting around

You'll find a journey planner covering all public transport at If you wish to explore Copenhagen like a Copenhagener, meaning on a bike, you can rent bikes only 300 m from my flat in Dronningensgade.

House Rules
No smoking
Not suitable for pets
No parties or events
May not be safe or suitable for infants (Under 2 years)
Check in time is flexible

HEAT: The heating is on, but in case you're getting cold you can regulate it at the radiators - the
position '3' is equal to 22 degrees, so you'll probably not need to put the thermostat higher than that. Please set
it back at '2' when leaving the flat.

COOKING:The cooking plates run on gas and you ignite them by0 pushing the button inward while turning it clockwise to the
flame symbol. You'll then hear a series of clicks which is the electric ignition of the gas. When the flame
catches on, you turn the button further clockwise to adjust the size of the flame. If you turn the button clockwise as far as possible the pot will stay hot without burning the dinner (not infinitely of course). To turn offyou
turn the button counter-clockwise (which is opposite of how to limit the size of the flame).
The oven is an electric oven.

BATHROOM: The calcium content in Danish water is really high. This means that if you don't swipe off
the walls and floor after showering everything will soon become covered with lime. So please use the swiper, thank you.
The swiper is situated on the bathroom floor and the washcloth can be foundunder the bathroom sink).

CLEANING: Please leave the flat clean and tidyand you'll avoid the 70€ cleaning fee and I'll avoid having to coordinate having someone come and do it before the next guests arrive. You'll find the vacuum cleaner in the sleeping room and the equipment for washing the floors in the bathroom at the left side of the closet.
You can put waist in the plastic containers in the courtyard.

We are hard pressed to point out any negatives to our stay at Gitte's apartment. The warm welcome from Gitte right through to the farewell two weeks later was exceptional. Due to the apartment's size, we wouldn't recommend it to families, but it's near perfect for singles and couples. A great location is the added bonus being right on a canal, only about 100 meters from the Metro station and a few minutes walk to three supermarkets. From time to time, we preferred the easy walk into the city or the five minute walk to the ferry. In a word, an 'excellent' choice for us.

We felt very well and at home as soon as we arrived. The flat is very comfortable and cosy and so for us just perfect. The surroundings are good ( a shop really near, cafees and restaurants close to the flat). Christianshavn is really a very nice part of Copenhagen. We enjoyed our stay there.

Gitte's apartment is really cool 100%. It is literally 1 minute walk from Christianshavn metro station. There is also a large supermarket (Superbrugsen) between the apartment and the metro so its very easy, to buy food etc. There is also a fresh produce store on the square where the metro is (so again, approx 2 mins from the apartment) if you want some fresh specific produce. A lot of food options within mins from the apartment from an Asian wok place, to Sushi, to sandwiches (look for the sandwich sign just across the canal on Torvegade) to goulash from Beboerhus on the street behind. If you fancy some drinking action (and fairly cheap) close by then you can stroll into Christiania to the many bars there, or there are a few local Bodega type places close as well - had a very awesome mid week night meeting and drinking with friendly people at the Eiffel bar on Wildersgade. If you want to go all out for a night out then just head into the city, too easy. You can walk into the center of the city in 10-15 mins, or the metro takes you in minutes. And coming from the airport is really easy, its a direct metro from the airport to Christianshavn metro in about 20 mins. Nikolaj, Gitte's son, was extremely helpful in anything you wanted to know really... made me feel at home from day 1, including a welcome bottle of red wine :) Its a very cosy apartment - underfloor heating in the bathroom was really nice, its the ground floor apartment in an old lovely period building, very relaxing to chill on the couch and either watch TV or look out the windows to the canal. The kitchen is well equipped with all the cooking utensils you need - from sharp knifes to gas stove top, to microwave etc. The laundry is communal to the apartment block, you need to put your name down on the booking sheet for a 2 hour slot, but once you do this once, its easy, and I met some nice locals in there that actually took me out and showed me around the neighbourhood :) Overall I'm sad to leave! 100% recommended!
