Rebecca's home is beautifully presented, looked after and equipped. We wished for nothing when we were there. We were really happy with everything in the house and it exceeded our expectations. Rebecca added such a special personal touch too. She left us Easter eggs since we stayed over Easter weekend...that really was a thoughtful and wonderful gesture.

A great place for our 2 families to get away and relax! We woke up every morning to a gorgeous view of the lake and enjoyed the whole house; it was so spacious and comfortable! Rebecca provided us with a well setup home; thank you so much!

Our stay at Serenity was exactly as described. Rebecca's house was the perfect place to completely relax and unwind. The house was in immaculate condition on arrival and very well equipped. We had friends visit with their two children (3 and 5 months) and they said the same thing so definitely suitable for families (Just note there are no rails at the top or bottoms of stairs if you have little ones). The location was the perfect base for exploring neighbouring beaches by day and to enjoy beautiful dinners on the balcony overlooking the lake by night. We made the most of the kayaks and had an absolute ball. Rebecca was efficient with her communication and made us feel very welcome (even though we didn't meet in person). I would highly recommend staying at Serenity - it really does live up to the name! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home Rebecca.

What was great; The house is wonderful and very tastefully decorated. The beds are amazingly comfortable and the rooms are spacious. The house has fly screens everywhere and windows that create airflow throughout the house on hot days. The front door has a code instead of a lock, which is very handy with multiple people in the house doing different activities. We enjoyed sitting outside on the deck early in the morning and later at night. We are birdwatchers and there was a lot to be seen from the deck. During the day there is not enough shade to be sitting outside and we gladly used the day to go swimming or kayaking. The kayaks are a great feature of the house as the lake is perfect for kayaking adventures. Once we found the seats to the kayaks we started kayaking to the boat house, and even to sandbar. The overall area around Smiths Lake is beautiful. We enjoyed several of the beaches and we also drove into Wallingat National Park, which was a stunning and lush place to visit. Highly recommended. Rebecca has even gone through the trouble of setting up a Xmas tree for us which was such a lovely gesture. What was not so good The neighbours throw their empty bottles out at 7.15am every day. As the houses in Smith Lakes are built right on top of each other this means it’s a very noisy start to each day. The kayaks permanent home is under the house. The path to the waters edge is very steep and it was a nearly impossible task between my elderly parents and a young child to carry them back up to the house as they are very heavy. The house doesn’t have “essentials”. At first we thought this only meant "no sheets" Most people may not be in a position to bring linen from overseas and my own single household didnt' have enough sheets for the big house we had rented. This confusion was kindly and helpfully addressed early with the owner and we came to an agreement about the sheets and towels. We found that ‘no essentials” also meant other things like; not enough toilet paper for the entire stay, no foil for baking in the oven, and we had to ration our dishwashing tablets to last till the end. In context of the very price tag that comes with the house, it feels that an extra $100 spent on essentials and having sheets and towels provided would have changed our overall perception of our stay.

Response from Rebecca:
Hi Jen, thanks for your feedback. I will update our listing with a local linen service provider to assist other overseas guests. As for the noise you mentioned we have quiet, retired, permanent residents on one side of us and a vacant block on the other side. I am assuming the noise came from the house two doors down which is a permanent AirBnb holiday rental property. Unfortunately it seems you were unlucky with the guests that were there during your stay. Based on my own experience and that of other guests it is usually very quiet. I am sorry that this impacted your holiday (and your sleep). I also would have been annoyed (and probably have asked them to stop it by day 3). I will also make sure I speak to guests re the use of the kayaks. We don't advertise the place with Kayaks and they were really purchased for our own personal use. We let guests use them on the condition they return them to the spot under the house at the end of the stay. I agree that it is, depending on your strength, a bit difficult to get them back up the track. It certainly takes more than one of me. I usually leave that job to my husband or my teenage son. Thanks again for your feedback. Much appreciated. Rebecca

We were made welcome by everything being as expected and always prompt communication. The house was a great space for our two families including six kids! The youngest was just 3. A younger child may have difficulty with the amount of stairs which are a feature of the property, but this is clear from the description. Kitchen and laundry were well equipped. All but the three year old enjoyed the kayaks on the calm lake practically at the back door. Would recommend Elizabeth beach for swimming, and milkshakes from the cafe next to the pharmacy at Blueys Beach. A great break. Thank you.
