Nestled in the tranquil setting of world famous Deep Cove, NS. Relax and commune with nature in this peaceful spot, fall asleep to the gently murmuring brook along side the property. Perfect for a getaway or fun gathering of friends & family.

The space

Tucked into the woods, reached by a short private lane serving only 2 homes, this is the perfect vacation destination. Cross 2 bridges to enter this relaxed, secluded property. Enjoy the comforts of a large screened porch, upper and lower terraced yards and decks where you can sunbathe or bar-B-Q, and a floating dock for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking or other water pursuits. You may be delighted by sightings of beaver, mink, otter, eagle, heron and osprey during your stay. You will be lulled to sleep by the gently flowing stream next to the house. This property is an enjoyable way to spend your vacation!

Guest access

You will have full access to the upper two floors of the home.
There is plenty of parking, access is limited for campers/RV or towed vehicles to maximum of 18 feet due to the sharp turns in the lane leading to the property.

Interaction with guests

The home owners will meet you upon your arrival to show you around and will be available by phone and text should anything unexpected arise that needs attention.

The walkout basement level is not available to guests and is used as an office during the day but is not occupied in the evenings or overnight. The home owners reside off the property but will be using the office, or occasionally watering outdoor plants. They may need to pull up to the wharf on occasion for very brief periods, but want to respect your use of the property and will keep these times to a minimum.
Do not be surprised if you hear birds chirping in the basement from time to time, its just our resident parakeets, who have their own welcome for you :)

Other things to note

---PLEASE NOTE - IMPORTANT Due to the nature of the property and it's exposure to the ocean and stream we require that guests sign a liability waiver regarding this. The text of this waiver can be found a the end of this section. By making this reservation you are agreeing to and accepting the terms of this waiver. -----

The property is actually located in Deep Cove, NS which is very close to Blandford, NS, on the Aspotogan Peninsula. You can find these locations on the internet to see where we are. Our physical location is correct here, but for reasons that defy understanding, Canada Post has assigned the mailing address of Hubbards, NS for this property, which is about 15-20 min away. We are not physically located in Hubbards..confusing, right?

The property itself feels quite secluded, the waterway can see an increase in the summer and is an enjoyable afternoon diversion watching sailboats coming in and out of the cove.

While there is internet service and WIFI within the house it's delivered via satellite and is not as stable or as fast as you may be used to. You will be able to reliably send and receive email and browse the web. There is a television, Netflix and a selection of DVD's available, but no cable service to the property. It's a perfect opportunity to un-tether yourself from those sometimes demanding devices, relax and enjoy the view.

Although we welcome families, we want to point out that this property may not be suitable for very young children, due to the constant supervision that would be required outdoors, and also the house is not child proof. There are few locks on the cabinets and there are items that would be within their reach, so we ask that you do take care with your children on the property, we want everyone to have fun! We offer an assortment of sizes of life jackets if young ones will be spending any time near the water.

There is a small green house and veggie garden, depending on your dates, there may be some organic garden bounty to enjoy There is a power cable going to the greenhouse, we ask that you not remove it or unplug it, the greenhouse door must remain open in the summer months, or the gh will overheat.

Release and Waiver of liability.

I acknowledge that I have been informed of certain risks and hazards connected with a rural property with access to a tidal saltwater ocean inlet and a natural stream and forested areas. These risks may include but are not limited to:
A tidal range of up to seven feet.
Hazards arising from use of a floating dock, that like a swimming pool provides unprotected access to deep water. (specifically there are no fences, railings or gates around the float/swimming-platform)

Unimproved forest paths that may contain loose gravel, steep slopes, roots, holes and other hazards such as poisonous plants, ticks , thorns, fallen trees and similar natural features.
Rough wooden walkways and wharf , sharp rocks and similar hazards that require use of adequate footwear at all times even when swimming

Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, I specifically acknowledge my understanding that there are no lifeguards and that any swimming, wading or other similar activities from any access to the cove/ocean or stream are undertaken solely at my own risk and I assume full responsibility for such activities and specifically for any children as well as other guests that may accompany me, or are invited by me to use the property.

We request that you are mindful of our one neighbour on the south-east side who shares the lane. They are across the stream and woods from the property so not too close. There is no smoking in the house and although we do not currently accept pets, we can recommend an excellent dog resort only 20 min away in Hubbards, "You Lucky Dog Resort", ask us how to reach them.
AirBNB asks "yes or no" questions for some items, like suitable for "parties of events". We said "no", but you are certainly welcome to have a Bar-B-Q and invite some friends (around 10 max). Also we are glad to have a conversation about exceptions of special requests. For instance if you are staying for two weeks and your adult children we be stopping by for two days which will put you over the maximum person limit, let's talk.
The kitchen is fully equipped, there will also be a quantity of basic staples for your use.
Minimum stay is 5 days, if bookings allow, there may be some flexibility in the days. Noon departure appreciated so we can get ready for the next guests.

We loved our stay: Beautiful house, very well equipped and clean, absolutely private and quiet, wonderful garden, boat dock for sunbathing or swimming, welcoming hosts, nice small towns within 10-20 minutes drive. Thank you Sara and Don!

Lovely unique location, Don and Sarah were excellent hosts, very inviting and informative. Unique cabin style home, only negative was we did not find the beds all that comfortable - better than some we have stayed in though. Water discolouration a bit off putting but the filtered taps were fine for drinking. We would highly recommend this house to others wanting to get away from the city.

You could not find a better place to stay on the South Shore. Don and Sara's house is wonderfully kept and landscaped as well as having an incredible view of Deep Cove from the house and it's tiered patios. The house has everything you would want for a relaxing stay and is only 10-15 minutes from Chester. Don and Sara are very accommodating hosts and made certain we were fully satisfied with our stay.

Absolutely beautiful place! Our family really enjoyed our stay. The pictures are accurate. Hosts graciously welcomed us, and communicated with us in a timely manner. Great location to get away from it all, and at the same time be located very close to the lighthouse trail and do daily trips to explore the south shore sites!

Don and Sara were both gracious and accommodating . They were very respectful of our privacy. Their home is instantly welcoming and comfortable with beautiful views out over Deep Cove. Morning coffee on the sunny deck and dinners in the screened porch, and falling asleep to wind in the trees and water in the stream so healing. Beautiful starry skies at night. We were 4 in our party and were very comfortable. Kitchen is very well equipped, everything very clean. Easy to recommend. Loved our stay.

We had a wonderful week long stay at Don and Sara's and cannot say enough good things about their place. The house is in a beautiful location with unbelievable waterfront views and gardens. It is very secluded and provides a peaceful and relaxing setting complete with a babbling creek to listen to from the side porch or back deck. Our vacation plan was to base out of Deep Cove and do day trips with our six person group (including our two and six year old girls). The location was perfect. We visited Lunenburg, Ovens Natural Park, Halifax, Ross Farm, Kejimkujik Seaside Park, Mahone Bay and the Bay of Fundy all between 30 and 90 minutes away. And within ten minutes is a lovely beach for all ages to play the day away. The house itself is well appointed given it is Don and Sara's permanent residence. We ended up cooking most meals in and were not lacking for a single thing. We were greeted upon arrival with a bottle of wine and coffee to make sure we started off on the right foot! The house wifi worked well and our girls enjoyed watching movies on Netflix the few lazy afternoons we had. Overall the house has a welcoming, warm and peaceful feel to it with a breathtaking view from the expansive living room windows. Sara and Don were very upfront with us about the nature of the property given we have small children. It is not a property where young kids would be okay to run around unsupervised. Our kids loved exploring the gardens, swinging in the hammock, wading in the water of the cove and picking any ripe cherry tomatoes they could find in the greenhouse (previous permission granted!). We could not have asked for a more perfect place for our vacation and highly recommend it to anyone looking to either relax in tranquility or explore some of the sites of the South Shore.

My wife Sara and I have owned & lived in this home since 1998. Some of the reasons we liked the house are because it is pretty secluded, on the water of a protected bay in rural Nova Scotia. We are in our mid 60's and want to spend more time sailing our boat. I am a retired business consultant and Sara has been a bookkeeper. The house is spacious, but cozy with plenty of light and nice views of the water with forest on one side and a stream on the other. One can swim, snorkel or kayak in the protected cove off the floating dock or walk down to the stream for a freshwater dip.
