About this listing
Comfortable rooms and private bath in spacious country home near Paso wineries and Cal Poly SLO. Views, wildlife, and peace and quiet. Pool, deck, firepit, and walkable acreage with horse pasture in quiet lakeside neighborhood. Nearby dining, pubs, shopping and winetasting.
Upon your arrival you can choose the queen-sized bedroom or the four-poster full-sized bedroom. Please note: both bedrooms are up one flight of indoor stairs. Your quiet spot includes a Keurig coffee and tea maker and bottled water. If you'd like to request both rooms, please select "3 or 4 guests" upon booking (even if there are fewer guests). Perfect for couples and singles who would like their own room(s) and privacy. Our user-friendly hillside home comprises a cactus-studded and palmy yard with a pretty poolside deck overlooking three oak- and pasture-blessed acres -- perfect for contemplative privacy, morning coffee, or some gentle yoga. A gentle long driveway down to the community lake just begs for a quiet one-mile walk; check out the leafy green park with a real zoo and playground. Or try a longer neighborhood jaunt along the creek lined with gnarled sycamores -- or an array of longer hikes along the Salinas River or in the wilderness of the Santa Lucia coast range.
As noted above, the second private and immediately adjacent bedroom is available should your party need two beds/rooms. Please select 3 or 4 guests when booking to secure a second room/bed.
Guests may use our refrigerator and microwave. Enjoy the fire pit, or swim in the pool until 10 PM. There's a quiet deck near the pool, and another sunny patio for relaxing with a book and your favorite beverage.
Interaction with guests
We are veteran explorers, and for those who want we'll offer suggestions for Paso Robles or Templeton wine tasting or other local pursuits -- or we'll leave you to your own devices; let us know your preferences.
Other things to note
We're halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, about 3 hours from each. Besides the nearby two hundred-plus wineries of Paso Robles and Templeton, you will be 20 minutes from Morro Bay or San Luis Obispo, and even closer to Cal Poly University; a half-hour's drive on scenic Coast Highway One takes you to charming seaside Cambria. Just a bit more up the road you'll see Hearst Castle and the elephant seals of San Simeon beach as you approach the gateway to the spectacular Big Sur coast. Music is "key" to our area with wonderful local venues at wineries, farmers' markets, coffee houses, local parks, and big venues like the Performing Arts Center in SLO and beyond. The Vina Robles Amphitheater in Paso Robles has amazing shows in a friendly, comfortable venue. Folk, punk, blues, Americana, Classical, big names, small names, we got it covered here!
We are quiet and casual and hope you will be too, especially between 10PM and 7AM. We are friendly, so If you want to have a glass of wine and socialize with us or talk about tourist things to do we are glad to do that. No parties please, but visitors are OK with explicit pre-approval from us. You can smoke or vape outside only, in fire-safe designated areas. No glass near pool, please.

Jean and I are friendly and sociable, but like our quiet time. Hiking, gardening, traveling, camping, spending time with family and friends, reading, listening to music and tasting wine keep us busy and entertained. We enjoy meeting new people and swapping travel tales and life stories. We have lived in the "Middle Kingdom" for 28 years, raised our two beautiful kids here, bonded with friends and neighbors, and love this enchanting area. We look forward to sharing this spot with new friends!
