A few things you need to know about the house are:
Outside: The pool is NOT deep...only 6’ feet at deep end...not a good idea to dive! There is a skimmer near the hot tub if you want to get bugs and grass out! Other than that it needs no attention. Please make sure the two gates are closed when no one is at the pool. Pool, beach towels are next to the deck door downstairs. There is an outdoor shower with soap near the garage.
Upstairs deck: If it-s windy please put the lower the umbrella.
ONLY FLAT NON-MARKING SHOES UPSTAIRS
Do not “roll” luggage around the house.
Do not move furniture, or drag anything across the floors.
The fridge and oven doors can NOT be opened at the same time.
Do not sit on mantle at fireplace, it will not hold weight
Brochures for the washer and dryer are in the laundry room! Basically load...push power...and then...push start"
The town has a recycle program for trash. We put regular kitchen trash in the front garbage bin and bottles! Plastic and metal trash in the rear bin When full bring them down to the outside bins grey bin. Recycle bin is blue.
Please do not touch the alarm keypad in the front hall. A very big problem will happen if anything is touched…police! Fire! Ambulance and very loud sirens. If for some reason the alarm goes off code key is 1557 on the keypad. When the alarm company calls the house the code they will ask for is 1557.
A/C zones. The a/c in the downstairs kitchen controls the entire bottom floor. The thermostat in the bedroom is for heat only. Lobster shopping:Aquidneck Lobster, Bowens Wharf in Newport. Also, has Aquidneck Lobster Bar which is a “happening place" Food review is mixed but the view is great. Anthony’s Seafood, Aquidneck Ave in Middletown, Also has a very casual restaurant.
Best Lobster Roll is…in my opinion at Eastons Point Pub Aquidneck Ave in Middletown just down the road. The place is funky but lobster rolls are the best.

Beaches: Don-t go to Easton’s Beach! also called 1st Beach! awful crowd and smelly beach"
Sachuest Beach! also called 2nd beach is really nice! look for spots where there’s no seaweed. The end closet to us is called “surfers end” and you will see many surfers if there are waves. Further down the road is the
entrance to the “middle of 2nd". We like to enter the lot and go all the way back to the right end of the lot and use the last ramp up to the beach towards the surfer’s end, to get away from the crowds. You can see the seaweed from the hill and decide where to sit. If you continue past the main entrance to
2nd beach the next left, just before the campers, is the route to 3rd beach.
FYI" If you continue past the campers you end up a t Sachuests Point National Wildlife Refuge. Nice and interesting facility and a very nice 1 mile walking train around the point.
FYI: If you continued past 3rd beach and went up the hill, through the stop you would come to Norman Bird Sanctuary. Interesting for kids and has some nice walking
Public Access to water is at the end or our road, blue and white sign on telephone pole states that it is a public right of way. Also, across our backyard you can see another public access to the water.
Walk the path and navigate down the hill. Kids love walking the rocks. If you walk either path to the left you will eventually end up at “elephant rock” which is an adult swimming area...really nice and a must see.
Newport has so much to see and do. The mansions are very popular. If you wanted to visit just one I would definitely choose The Breakers.
I would recommend driving the beautiful 10 mile drive beginning on Bellevue Ave and following it all the way around Brenton Point which has a large parking area and often has millions of kites flying. Continue in the same direction and turn left to Castle Hill Inn and Lighthouse. Castle Hill is a must see even if you don-t eat or drink there. You can walk to the lighthouse or walk the lawn. Head back out and turn left again. You will drive past Hammersmith Farm, Jackie Kennedy’s family owned it, and turn left into Ft Adams State Park. After entering the park the first left turn will lead to the Eisenhower House and lawn, and even drive around to the left a bit more right down to the bay. If you didn’t turn left to Eisenhower house and went straight you would end up at the actual Fort Adams. Park all the way down the lot and walk the grounds around the fort. Very interesting! Great place to picnic and see all the harbor activity.
A great idea would be to get on the harbor ferry that makes a loop around Newport. This would be a great way to see the harbor and do a very popular “harbor tour". You could jump off in town and get back on later if you wanted to make a town visit without the hassle of parking downtown. Parking at Ft Adams is easy and free.
Downtown Newport is very busy with many shops, bars and restaurants.
A few of my favorite restaurants:
Tallulah on Thames
Midtown Oyster Bar
The Cookhouse ask to sit in the “mid&level” bar area
Jamestown Fish, if you want to visit Jamestown.
The Inn at Castle Hill
Aquidneck Pizza, nearby.
Breakfast and lunch
