About this listing

Semi-private beach with gorgeous and safe tidal pool. Open plan beach house on 1.5 acre property. Lots of space. Two story post-and-beam structure can accommodate 4 guests. Loft has one queen-sized bed & one full-sized bed. LGBT friendly. Hablamos español.

The space

The beach has volcanic rock barriers with a natural tidal pool that's safe for children and adults.

The house has two stories: open living area and kitchenette on the first floor. There's also a detached toilet and shower on the ground level. An outside shower is next to the walkway leading to the beach. The second floor has an open loft and balcony with one bed in the loft and another bed on the balcony. There's a half bath on the second floor.

Guest access

Two-burner gas stove, BBQ grill, cooking utensils, dishes & silverware. Propane & charcoal provided.

Interaction with guests

Interaction with caretaker family; they can help you get fresh fish from the nearby town every day. Owner may be there to greet you on your arrival.

Other things to note

If you're driving please note that this is the closest beach from Managua, only 60km. The road from Managua toward the beach was recently rebuilt and is in perfect condition for 44km, then you take a 13km dirt road to El Tránsito town and 3 additional km to the property. The dirt road is in decent shape most of the year although it could get muddy in the rainy season (May through November). The last 500m are a bit challenging: mostly natural slate stone. Four-wheel drive vehicle recommended.

Friends and family have often commented that my beach house is a piece of paradise exuding positive energy. A perfect place to relax.

Loved the dog that hangs out at the residence! She was great with our dog as well.

The place was awesome, it was in front of the beach and it had everything anyone needs plus some hammocks. He has some animals there 2 beautiful dogs and horse, so if you are missing your pet you'll have the chance to give those lots of love. Even thought we didn't meet he was really responsive and had the place for us in really short notice (like 3 hour notice). Would totally recommend it.

Our experience here was mixed. The best part is the beach access, but unfortunately there are many downsides. The entire house is open plan - including the bedroom - so there is no privacy from neighbors or the groundskeeper (who lives basically in the same house). It was oppressively hot when we were there and without a fan, it was very difficult to sleep. The well water that supplies the shower is terrible. We "bathed" in the ocean instead. There are many animals around - a horse, a pig, chickens/roosters, 2 dogs, and 2 cats with kittens. The animals are friendly, but we were woken up by the cats in the night and by the roosters in the morning. When we tried to cook breakfast in the very basic kitchen, the gas tank was empty. But perhaps the most difficult part of this listing is that the road to get there is absolutely treacherous. We barely managed with our rental car. Unfortunately I would not recommend staying here!

Response from Alvaro:
It is regretful that Kelsey's experience staying at my beach house led her to write such a negative review and rate the listing at 2 points. I truly appreciate Kelsey's comments and they will become items on a bullet list to make my house more attractive for renting. Fortunately, most, if not all, of the issues listed by Kelsey are on their way to being fixed by summer. Let me explain in detail: 1) Open plan house; I will build a door and a side wall on the loft to provide privacy. 2) The new caretaker's house is being built, away from the main house. This project was started over a month ago. 3) I cannot control the extremely high temperatures we have experienced in April in Nicaragua. It will probably be recorded as the hottest April in history. Some folks still believe global warming is a hoax...I will, however, provide a fan in the bedroom to help the situation. 4) As part of the new construction project, I am piping soft city water to the shower and the sink. 5) The new horse quarters is almost ready. The pig will be sacrificed May 14th. I have my own chicken coop. I will continue working with the neighbor to keep his chickens and roosters off my property. The dogs and cats will stay. 6) My new caretaker "forgot" I had a spare propane tank. Pilot error. 7) I am having the entrance from the gate to the house paved with slate stone.

I love the beach and the mountains. Ayahual is my place in El Tránsito that I'm sharing through Airbnb. I built the main house ten years ago. Come and enjoy a piece of paradise.
