The space

These two modern and stylish apartments, with big picture windows, are located in an historic building which was designed for Earl Manvers.
They are rated 4 Stars AA and 'Superhost' standard Airbnb.
Separated by a staircase between them, the apartments are ideal for groups with a different make up: some wanting a little quiet; some wanting to party!
The 4 bedrooms all have super-king double beds which can be split into twins.
There are also 2 sofa beds and 2 portable beds of a very high quality. Plus 2 cots with 100% cotton baby linen and 2 high chairs.
The apartments are fully-fitted with easy-to-use appliances designed in situ by BOSCH, plus a large compliment of smart cutlery, crockery, glassware and cooking equipment.
The 2 marble-clad bathrooms en suite and 2 shower rooms all have under floor heating and large heated towel rails.
Extra high quality 100% cotton 400 gsm bed linen/towels, essential kitchen supplies and Arran Aromatic bathroom toiletries are included.
We set tea and cake for our guests for their arrival.
There are 2 parking permits and further inexpensive parking in Manvers Street car park nearby.
Our Caretaker, Richard, is on call 24/7. Divina, our Housekeeper, is on hand to help with extra cleaning.

Guest access

You have sole access to the apartments.
There is a large communal entrance hall and staircase - we ask guests to respect others staying in this historic building and to try to be quiet when arriving late at night.

Interaction with guests

Both our Caretaker and Housekeeper are on hand to help you - but your privacy a priority.
Access is by code, unless you require help with your luggage.
Tea and cakes are prepared for your arrival, with milk in the fridge and plenty of dry stores, such as tea, coffee, washing powder, kitchen herbs and bathroom toiletries etc.

Other things to note

The apartments are on a flat walk from the station.
There is no lift, but the stairs are wide and airy with a mezzanine level between floors. Apt 4 is the Penthouse, with the best views.
We have portable air-conditioning units available by request in the Summer.

Apartments are really clean and lovely! Flowers tea and cake it laid out for arrival! I had a group of 12 and it was a bit tight to turn around the living room each morning along with our stuff. The apartments are not on the same floor and we struggled with hot water getting everyone showered even with the boost on! Other than that amazing location, fantastic host and would recommend!

A group of friends and myself stayed in the 2 flats for a couple of nights for a weekend away catching up. The flats were spotlessly clean and very well equipped. It's a perfect set up for a big group, and the lounges are great for hosting drinks in the evening with plenty of space for the whole group. There were 2 en suites so no queuing for the toilet or showers, and the beds were very comfy. Even though it is very central and close to everything there was no noise pollution. Perfect for group get-togethers!

This place is a fantastic location, can't go wrong. Lovely and clean and a great sized social area, didn't feel cramped when there was a group of us there. Lots of useful items in the house, plenty of bathrooms etc for getting ready - everyone enjoyed themselves! There are lots of stairs...but I was prepared for that and it didn't ruin anything so don't be put off.

Great, central location. Apartments were really clean with lots of useful amenities, perfect for a group of us for the weekend. Parking permits are provided but we found it really hard to find anywhere within the central residential zone so ended up parking on Widcombe hill, this could have been because we arrived at a busy time traffic-wise though. There is the car park opposite as well for a short stay so it was easy enough to pay to park there for two hours to unload the car and then move it. Overall, great accommodation, would recommend to other groups looking for a central base to explore Bath.

Such an incredible apartment and such a fantastic location. We felt very safe and were so close to shops, restaurants and train station. Penny was so helpful and always at the end of the phone if we had any queries. I would love to stay here again if I have the opportunity.

I am the Housekeeper for River House and Friary Coach House in the little hamlet of Friary.
I also look after two first-class apartments at No.1 Manvers Street in the beautiful World Heritage City of Bath, which is about 5 miles from Friary. You can see them on Airbnb.
My passion is rare breeds and traditional rural skills. We have a small established flock of Zwartbles sheep and mini Shetland ponies and regularly host scything, stone walling and local environmental and conservation events.
My husband is a qualified chef and we love to host parties, often asking local chefs - such as Alessandro and Vito Albergo - to help us with larger events.
