The space

This quiet room is located in the basement. It was recently renovated and is fully loaded! You'll find everything you need for a comfortable stay.

We prefer au naturel to chemical, so we clean with scent-free and friendly products. You'll find the air is clean!

Guest access

You can use the kitchen and backyard in the summer (hammock, bbq, and dining area). The parking is on our driveway and is a large space. Bikes can be parked in the garage.

Interaction with guests

Gay positive is a must! We are an all woman household (2 moms + 1 daughter). We are a busy family, but will happily make time to help you feel comfortable and to orient you to the house and location.

We will flex to your preferred level of interaction.

Our dog, Kiwi, is a gentle and quiet little girl. She has never been downstairs so allergies shouldn't be an issue for you.

The neighbourhood

We are located 1 km away from the Wesley-Clover equestrian park and cross-country ski/sports facility.

There is a lovely outdoor pool within walking distance. Britannia Beach is 5 km away.

Our home backs onto the Ottawa Greenbelt and there are bike trails galore.

The beautiful Ottawa river is within walking distance and you can launch your boat at the public boat ramp by the Nepean Sailing Club.

This is a quiet and very safe neighbourhood with mature trees and large yards. It does get dark at night without street lights. We will make sure you can identify our home in the dark!

Groceries and restaurants are located a short drive away in Bells Corners. Check out the Butchery for excellent meats and prepared take-home meals.

Also in Bells Corners (5 km away) you'll find Sukkhothai, our favorite local Thai restaurant and great Shawarma at Sahara Dunes

Getting around

We have a bike for guests to use.

The OC Transpo bus stop is about 500m away and it is only a 7 minute bus ride to Bayshore Transit station. From there a bus will whisk you downtown within 20-30 minutes.

You can also ride downtown along the Ottawa River Parkway. This glorious ride avoids busy streets and affords a spectacular view. From our door to the Parliament Buildings is about 18km.

Other things to note

We now have a sweet dog! She never goes downstairs and is quite shy and very gentle.

Very close to the Ottawa River and it's parks, but also to the city and it's shops, the room offered by Helen is idyllic ! En-suite shower-room, table top fridge, microwave, big closets, desk, bike... all the comfort you need for a successful stay. Perfect for those who are looking for a long term stay. Helen and her family are big-hearted hosts that will not fail to impress you by their extreme kindness and generosity. Thank you Helen ! Merci Helen !

Helen and her family made me feel extremely welcome in their home. The space which I stayed was private, but also provided multiple opportunities to interact with the hosts - something I always enjoyed! Their home is located in a lovely neighbourhood close to many waterfront parks, various bike trails, and OC transpo stops. They even provided me with a bike to use at my convenience!

I had a really nice stay, the bed was super comfortable, the room was really beautiful, and the house is very nice. The hosts were extremely friendly, although I barely saw them while I was there. The area is perfect, very close to the city core. Easy access to public transit and public parks. What a nice spot! I totally recommend staying here.

Helen and Jennifer were wonderful hosts. They warmly welcomed me into their home. I stayed with them to volunteer at an outdoor education center and they helped me feel like part of the community. Getting to the house was clear; they offered to help get me to their house as well as drove me to the outdoor center almost everyday. The room was very comfortable, as was staying in their home. They invited me up to use space in the rest of their house as well. Helen, Jennifer and their daughter not only provided me a place to stay but also contributed to the positive experience I had on my trip. They are lovely people and I would happily stay with them again. I recommend this air bnb to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Ottawa area.

I love to travel and meet people. For years I've lived in communities where we shared chores, food and company. I really value what people can create when we work together.

My spouse Jennifer and our daughter love road tripping. In the last 2 years we've driven across Canada and up and down each coast (to SoCal and Fla). We seek out 'off the beaten track', local food, and beautiful nature. We prefer camping to glam and love to play and create stories.
