The space

The B&B is in downtown Venice, in “Calle delle Botteghe”: in front of “Campo San Barnaba” – where you can admire the magnificent frontage of the Church – and just around the corner from Campo Santa Margherita, in Sestiere of Dorsoduro, in the historical centre. The newly restored rooms are elegant and welcoming, with a luxurious mosaic marble floor (“terrazzo veneziano”), dated 1826 and offering an enchanting panoramic view (Church of San Barnaba, Rio S.Barnaba, San Marco’s Belfry). On the first floor there’s a nice Tea Room where you can have breakfast and relax. Just around the corner you’ll find the most characteristic restaurants in Venice (to be clear, not the overpriced touristic ones, but the genuine, honest Venice’s ones) and the best “bacari” (these are traditional restaurants where you can drink good Veneto’s wine and eat the typical “spunci”). B&B Ancient Venice is just a short walk from San Marco Square, Rialto Bridge and Accademia. The B&B is very close to the “Ca’ Rezzonico” stop, where you can catch the main Venice's Vaporetto Line 1.

The room we were assigned had a beautiful view with all the necessary equipment. Although the bathroom was shared with other rooms we had no problem with the other guests. The location is fantastic and it takes just 15' to get there from the train station, and considering it's Venice it's a very short time. The price matches the services and the structure, it's a cheap, nice and clean place with all the necessities.

Our stay here was average. The reason we chose this place to stay was because it was central location in Venice, as opposed to living in Mestre and commuting so that was a plus. But the place itself did little for relaxation, the host made it difficult to check in and once in we saw the host for only a few minutes. The room opened to a view of the piazza and a portion of the canal which was nice (but also little noisy but we didnt mind that). Bathroom was shared and stocked with shampoo and soap, ran out of toilet paper though. Although breakfast was provided it was packaged products sitting on a table so you were better off buying yourself breakfast from a nearby cafe.

terrible place no one to great you - very hard to find - shower did not work and took pictures to prove it - very hot with one little fan - no tv like it says - no outlets to use european converter so could not charge my cell phone - no guide books or maps of venice - very loud outside of the windows - dark and hot - i was there alone - the shop owner across the alley called the number on the door to get someone to come and open the door

You are terrible guest and if you don't find a place that is clearly geolacated is because you are ignorant and you don't know how to travel in a city like Venice. Stay at your home don't travel away if you don't know to find a place in front of you.

I had a very good night in the B&B, the room was tidy and clean, the bed comfortable. The shared bathroom was clean, no disturbance at night from mosquitos or loud noise. It started raining ay night and I woke up from the motor noise of the boats under my window that started as early as 6am. But this was expected and gave it the feeling of being in the heart of Venice and only lasted for about 15 min. Knowing from previous reviews, I did bring my own breakfast serial/muesli and used the milk provided in the fridge. Overall, I have a pleasant experience from my first night in Venice.

Pay attention to the reviews. This was a very unpleasant stay and not worth the money. The showerhead doesn't attach to the wall, the bathroom is full of mold and shared, and the walls are so thin that you can hear the conversations in the next room. We thought we'd be fine after reading the reviews but when we got there, we really regretted our decision. Go on Hotel Tonight or another app to find a better deal if it's cost that you care about.

The room where we slept was comfortable. But the price of 104 Euros per night is rather high compared with the comfort you get. The breakfast was rather small and not fresh made and 89 Euros are not 104 swiss Francs. After all: too expensive.

Good location, ok standard, worth The money! Don't count on getting a good breakfast, but you can buy things in The area for a good price:)
