This rental is a GUEST SUITE made up of a large bedroom with king sized bed (can be configured as two twins), private bath with shower, walk-in closet, and sun room with kitchenette in a private home. Travelers stop here when going from San Francisco to Seattle and back. This space is perfect for a romantic get-away, or a creative intensive to write or paint without distraction. Consider a solo retreat as a special gift to yourself or shared with your pooch! (Please check with me about your dog coming along!) For those who are 'working from home' or doing creative arts/writing while here, let me know what would be useful; 3x5 folding table, lighting, floor covering, etc. Wifi accommodates two people working online plus family use, even though living in a rural area we occasionally have 'hiccups' in our connectivity.
Your rental includes breakfast that is "self-served" continental style with coffee/tea pots, microwave, toaster and a small refrigerator. Breakfast can be ready when you are and includes protein/egg dish, fruit, juice, cereal, yogurt, toast or pastry. I can accommodate dietary restrictions if you let me know what they are. Used dishes are to go into the bright green tub - guests are not intended to do their own dishes!!! You're on vacation and I have a dishwasher awaiting that job!
We are secluded in the big woods of coastal Oregon 3.5 miles inland - just out of fog range! Small charming towns within 10-15 miles, offer a variety of excellent restaurants and events, and Newport's fabulous Aquarium and Hatfield Marine Science Center. There are many opportunities including: shopping, cultural events, hiking, biking and off-the-beaten-path explorations readily available. Choose a sandy or rocky beach, headland area or river basin for boating, kayaking, diving, fishing, crabbing - although only the hardy ones (or those in wet suits!) swim in this ocean! Imagine being less than 4 miles to the beach and hearing the sound of the water as you go to sleep!
Currently there is one indoor/outdoor cat living here and I've done my best to keep the guest suite area "cat free!"
Recreation, fishing, photography and artists' delights, live Big Band music and dancing (1st Thursday of each month), wine tasting, fresh seafood - something for everyone! Farmers' Markets, golf, agate hunting, workshops, cultural events, community celebrations like Yachats' La-De-Dah July 4th festivities, Kite Festival(Sept), Newport Jazz Festival (October), Yachats Agate Festival (Jan.) or Newport's Wine and Seafood Festival(February) and Loyalty Days celebration(May) offer fun for the whole family. Check the web sites for Newport's OREGON COAST AQUARIUM , OSU/HATFIELD MARINE SCIENCE CENTER, PERFORMING ARTS CENTER , and community web sites for Waldport, Newport, Lincoln City and Yachats for event schedules and ideas of the range of possibilities to be found in our Lincoln County. This suite offers quiet so you can hear nature's sounds, meet up with deer or elk neighbors, and dark nights for deep restful sleep. Board games, music, WiFi, reading material, or good conversations with your partner are encouraged as there is no tv available! The room is acoustically separate from host's home space and guests have car port parking available. I look forward to welcoming you to this place of respite and restoration, of living close to nature and experiencing small town life. Come share in our acres of paradise!
Guest access
When you arrive parking can be done to the far right of the paved area or using an open car port bay if your vehicle fits! Come to the front door and either my adult son David or myself will welcome you to your private Guest Suite, separated by French doors from host's quarters. Laundry facilities (1 load) are available by special request. This space is accessible to those with disability and am glad to work with you to fine tune what improves your comfort and access. I have infant/toddler pack and play + bedding and high chair to make your little person's stay more comfortable! Note: the step into the house via the front door is 6" and wide enough to accommodate wheel chair access.
Other things to note
This is a smoke free home. Personal scented products are best applied outside the guest suite as your perfumed items stay a LOT longer than you do and can contribute to allergic response in other guests. Thanks for your consideration.
