About this listing
This attractive & updated condo is a convenient home-base to explore New Orleans, with a well-stocked kitchen, a spotless bathroom, and a cozy pillow-top bed! 4 minute walk, 2 minute bike, 1 minute drive to the French Quarter and Frenchmen Street! 10 minute drive to the Superdome for Saints games!
This updated condo is well-appointed for a getaway weekend alone or with a couple of friends. You'll sleep peacefully in the queen-sized pillow-top bed, and the secondary pillow top sofa bed will accommodate your travel companions as well. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need (cookware, dishware, silverware, etc) to cook an authentic New Orleans meal using the ingredients you've purchased at Circle Food Store - a large neighborhood grocery store located half a mile away. Come stay and have fun!
The keypad entry system on the front door provides access to the condo upon arrival 24 hours a day.
Guests are welcome to all areas of the property. The back patio is a tranquil oasis for travelers looking to take advantage of quiet time while reading a book, sipping drinks, or enjoying a breeze in the shade.
Interaction with guests
Guests are welcome to contact the host 24 hours a day.
The location is well-suited for adventurous & budget-smart travelers looking for the convenience of staying super close to the main action (French Quarter and Frenchmen St) and enjoying suite-level flexibility (ability to cook, store your own food and drinks, wash clothes, etc). The French Quarter and Frenchmen Street are world famous for their bars, restaurants and live music venues (the sheer number of which are mind-blowing), and guests of this condo are literally 300 yards away from either destination. For those looking for other close-by (less than a mile away) attractions, guests are only three blocks from beautiful, mansion-lined Esplanade Avenue filled with even more high-quality bars and restaurants (Cafe Degas, Nonna Mia, Santa Fe, & more) and the always beautiful City Park (1,300 acres of pristine parks, putt-putt golf, New Orleans Museum of Modern Art, etc). And for fitness-oriented folks, there are many bike rental options in the area, or you can kayak or paddle board down beautiful Bayou St John!
While the immediate neighborhood (Treme/New Marigny) where the condo itself is located is super convenient and historic, it is also currently in the midst of a renovation and improvement renaissance from the previous economically-challenged period of its history. As such, guests of the condo will see beautifully renovated homes directly next to blighted homes. Smart and wise travelers who exercise good judgement and a healthy dose of awareness and common sense should feel confident staying at this condo.
Walking and biking are excellent transportation options in this area. Its recommended that all guests make use of the abundance of Uber drivers in the city. Fares to and from the French Quarter, Frenchmen St, Marigny and Bywater should be $5-$7 when Uber is not experiencing a surge. This is the cheapest and safest option when exploring the areas mentioned.
For a leisurely commute, guests can utilize the historic street car line on St Claude Ave (one block away) to access the neighborhoods listed above. The "Desire Line" is well known, thanks to the Tennessee Williams' play "A Streetcar Named Desire". The Desire Line provides guests with a public transportation option that allows them to experience a unique part of New Orleans among locals. Fares are $1.25 and $0.25 to transfer lines. Exact change is needed.
