About this listing

Welcome to our spacious village house decorated in a contemporary style. The bedroom overlooks the rear garden and has a comfortable, king-sized bed. Directly next to your bedroom is a private bathroom with a large, deep bath and overhead shower.

The space

Our house is on a quiet street in Great Bedwyn. We have plenty of parking and a large kitchen that overlooks a lovely garden. There is no television in the bedroom, but we have a wide selection of lovely books! If you would like to watch TV, just ask - you are very welcome to use the living room which has big, squashy sofas, a wood burner and a large TV. You are also free to relax on the deck or in the garden. We also have a secure garage for storing bicycles if you have them and we are biker friendly. We have a big fluffy cat who may come and say hello to you.

Guest access

Tea and coffee on arrival. Breakfast is served in the kitchen, or in your room if you prefer. We are happy to make you tea and coffee any time, and you are also welcome to use the kitchen to make your own drinks.

Interaction with guests

We will be here to welcome you and will be available during your stay if there is anything we can do for you, but will respect your privacy and be unobtrusive. Please feel free to ask us if you need anything, or have any questions about the surrounding area.

Other things to note

The village is very peaceful, with no light pollution or traffic noise, but the railway runs through the village and although we are double-glazed, you may hear the odd train as one or two run through the night. We are happy to accommodate any special dietary requests, such as soya milk or gluten-free bread, if you let us know in advance. Taxis to and from local pubs and restaurants can be arranged.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We welcome guests any day of the week, but we both work full-time so check in is generally from 17.30 and check out by 08.30 Monday to Friday and the house is not accessible during the day.

Weekends are more flexible; check in time is from 15.00, check out by 10.30. Other check in/out times may be possible by arrangement but we cannot provide guests with keys, so please ask if you have any specific requirements or contact me before making your booking.

Jimmy and I left Kate and Dave's almost reluctantly as we could have sat in their beautiful kitchen eating home-baked bread, drinking freshly brewed coffee and chatting with them for much longer. Their home is lovely, our room was bright & airy, the bathroom clean with an amazing shower and toiletries provided. It is the finishing touches like the toiletries, the almond milk Kate got in specially for me and the cold beer on arrival that truly makes this a fantastic place to stay. Kate was incredibly accommodating about the fact that we ran late due to some trouble with the motorbike. We may have travelled on a bike but they are so close to a train that runs from London so I will be recommending a stay here for my friends. We didn't get to spend much time in Great Bedwyn so were unable to go on some of the walks and check out the pubs that they recommended but perhaps this just gives us reason to come back. Cannot recommend this place enough!

As with everything, when someone is really good at what they do they make it appear easy.... So it is with Kate and her husband who welcome you into their home as if it were your own. The bathroom's modern with a great shower. My double room was light, bright, spotless and just as I wanted it - with crisp sheets, a plump duvet and pillows and a sensibly sized desk if I had wanted to work. But I didn't - it was a lovely evening and I walked the towpath, crossed over the railway bridge and then came back through the churchyard . With breakfast on the table when I woke the following morning it really was a great success story.

What a great place! It was spotless and had a beautiful view of the canal and the countryside. A really modern home with all the amenities needed. Kate and Dave made us feel very welcome and were very accommodating. They're such lovely people with a passion for the outdoors. We particularly liked the home-made bread they served at breakfast, which was a great way to start the day! Thank you both for making our stay in Bedwyn so memorable!

Had a wonderful stay at Kate and Dave's home, where we stayed for the first night of a cycling weekend (it's just off NCN4). Great communication beforehand and we were made to feel instantly welcome. The house and room were beautiful and the area was lovely for walking. Kate made a great breakfast and we were off on our way well rested and fed (with the added bonus of more air in the tyres - definitely a cycle friendly place to stay) - great hosts!

Kate was a great hostess and made us so welcome - everything was clean, warm and tidy - all that a great B&B should be! The view from the back veranda over the canal was delightful. It is the perfect base for the Harrow restaurant in Little Bedwyn where we celebrated our anniversary. We would definitely book again. Neil and Liz

My stay at Kate's was great. The room was just what I needed for a short stay on business. Everything is as described, the room is comfortable and I was made to feel very welcome. I would definitely stay again! The surrounding area is beautiful and there is so much to see and do - Kate was great in helping me with walks.

Kate and Dave were lovely hosts. We stayed a night before our barge trip. They have a beautiful home and it's only a short walk to the local gastro pub and village shop. Our room was lovely with a very comfortable bed and a private bathroom with a great shower. I would definitely recommend to friends.

I've lived in Wiltshire all my life. We love living in the country - we enjoy walking and being outdoors, and are particularly into mountain biking! We like to welcome and chat to fellow cyclists. We can tell you about good places to walk, cycle and visit locally. I also love food, and am happy to help guests find the best places to eat, whether it's decent tea and cake, or a Michelin-star meal! Our approach is relaxed and friendly and we try to be as flexible as possible. We want you to have a good time and leave feeling happy and rested.
