The apartment is in a great location. We walked everywhere from here to Chelsea, High Line and even Central Park. There's a nice coffee shop on the corner and some really good local restaurants & bars 10mins south, including Bathtub Gin.

John was the perfect host and a proper gentleman he greeted me upon arrival and helped me carry my bags to the taxi on my journey home, he provided a great supply of towels and cleaning products

John's Chelsea studio apartment was a great base for our week in New York. It is very conveniently located on 8th Avenue, just one short block from the 8th Ave / 23rd St subway for fast trains up to the theatre district or down to Greenwich Village and the World Trade Centre area; and very close to the Chelsea art galleries. (And just a 10 minute walk to Penn Station.) Our arrival was much delayed by thunderstorms and we didn't get to the apartment until 1am - but our host took this in his stride and a friend was patiently waiting for us, and greeted us warmly. We met John himself a couple of days later and he was very friendly and helpful. The studio is on the ground floor (ie, US first floor!) with just a few steps up from the street. There is a small patio down some steps at the back of the apartment with a table and chairs - nice for breakfast if you don't mind the inevitable clatter of AC machines. Inside, there is plenty of space, although we found the kitchen a bit under-equipped: only one glass, one teaspoon, and no kettle, for example. But I realise that the latter is normal for the US - it's just us Brits who are always looking for a kettle to make a cup of tea... and in fact it's almost as easy to just boil the water in a pan... (We mentioned the dearth of glasses to John and I'm sure that will be fixed.) Overall, then, I'd recommend this studio - ideal for a couple.

Location is perfect. Right in the center of everything I go to NYC to see. Easy access to cabs, ubers, subways, and busses. Private outdoor patio is a wonderful place to have breakfast. More spacious than any hotel room at the price.

The apartment is in a great location. You can walk pretty much anywhere from this location. Easy access to the subway and all that NYC offers. It's not a modern hip and updated apartment but it's spacious. Hotel rooms, and even most studio apartments, in NYC are like a shoebox so this gives you room to spread out. The mini- backyard was also a nice amenity.
