This is my second time staying here. Not far the beach and central Ventura. Good host. I had a great time!

Let me start positively by saying that the decor is rustic and charming and check-in was easy. I felt the description was misleading by calling this a beach house with a photo of an unattended bike in front of it. This is a retail space with furniture inside of it. While it said it was an old martial arts studio, I was not expecting it to be a storefront that opens onto a main thoroughfare in a shady neighborhood. It didn't help that it had thin walls in which every sound from outside was very audible. We stayed over labor day weekend which happened to be during a freak heat wave. This is not the place to stay under such conditions as there's no AC or ceiling fans. We had one 4" personal fan to share between two rooms and in no way was that sufficient to cool the place down. After two sleepless nights rolling around in the heat, I left before the last night we had booked and shelled out money for a motel room with AC because we were too uncomfortable there. Fortunately for us, that meant that we avoided the stabbing incident which transpired half a block away that very night (URL HIDDEN) I have no ill will towards the host, Martin, who refunded our cleaning fee, but had someone else left a review like this, I certainly would have looked elsewhere.

Great space and location. Will definetly stay here again.

We stayed here for a family trip with our niece. Martin was incredibly communicative and responded very quickly to everything we needed. It is a nice and funky little space that was perfect for relaxing. The beds were comfortable and he has streaming services available on the TV. This is a good value and a fun experience!

We had an unforeseen problem with the property. Martin handled it as well as anyone could expect. He was a great host.

We stayed at Martin's home for 5 days for a conference. It was great for us because we had our two small pups with us. Not many hotels allow you to leave your dog in the room by themselves. Our girls felt very comfortable by themselves in Martin's home. His home is much larger than we expected which was a plus. Very unique! Some may not like the area, but if you are use to inner city life, this will be a great location for you. Main Street is in walking distance from the home and there's a really good donut/coffee stand down the block. Remember to bring your own toiletries. But there are plenty of towels and sheets. The kitchen isn't really functional except to make microwaved meals and coffee, but if you're eating out all the time, you won't miss it. Overall, it was a really nice place to stay for the cost. Definitely will consider staying there again. Oh and Martin can take you for tours of the bay on his boat! Hugh plus!

Response from Martin:
Thank you for your lovely description:) You guys seemed super chill and I really like that you found a way around of the area enjoying all the positive things ventura has to offer, ( i love that coffee/ donut shop too). I lived in big cities myself that why i find it "charming" in a particular way. You guys are great and welcome anytime:) Martin

Martin's place was pretty much as described. The location was great and very convenient. The secured and gated parking was much appreciated. Martin responded to our inquiries quickly and took care of our requests in a timely manner. A good value.
