Simple, peaceful guest room and private full bathroom in our lovely home. Bed and bath are located in their own hallway, close to the entrance of the house and away from our room, ensuring lots of privacy as you come in and out and get some rest! Quiet neighborhood. Our home is located right on the corner of a large, peaceful park bordered by a beautiful orchard with a 1/2 mile running loop. Close to George Fox campus. Full-size, very comfortable bed.

The space

We are a young friendly married couple, and it's just the two of us in the home! We have no pets. We are both George Fox alumni/current student.

Our home is simple, cozy, and (we think) very relaxing! We have an open "great room" floor plan, with a fireplace, built-in bookshelves, and two big skylights. The guest room is lovely, decorated very simply to be peaceful and relaxing, with high ceilings, a very comfortable full size bed (great condition), and with a big east-facing window it gets the best light in the house! (But has curtains so no worries about being woken up!).

You will have the full bathroom to yourself for your stay, located right next to your room. It has a shower and bathtub, toilet, and single sink.

We also have a big, fenced backyard with a covered patio, a table, and yard chairs, feel free to use!!!

We think our space is ideal for visiting parents (or relatives or friends) of George Fox students, or prospective students checking out the school! Closer, less expensive, and a very pleasant surrounding! We are on the way to Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint if you are looking for an excursion!

Also ideal for anyone traveling in wine country, or exploring the area between Portland and the Oregon Coast!

Ben works from home in a home office; during the weekdays you are unlikely to see him much. Emily is a graduate student and depending on the days of the week may be out working, or in and out of the house.

Guest access

We understand that often things like traffic, flight delays, and unexpected changes in plans on trips can make it hard to predict an exact schedule. No worries! Please communicate with us as you know your schedule on the day of arrival, but we can easily make arrangements for you to let yourself into the guest space if we aren't home or have headed to bed.

You are welcome to use the kitchen; we'd appreciate if you let us know if you plan to, so that we can accommodate your schedule accordingly.

Feel free to sit and rest in the living room by the fire or window, or peruse a book!

Large, pretty, fenced backyard is open for use as well!

You are definitely welcome to use the park across the street, seeing as it's public- it is literally right on the corner and it is a truly lovely short evening walk by the orchard!

You are welcome to access our wifi for free! It is very reliable and fast, as Ben uses it for work.

Interaction with guests

We will respect your privacy, and please feel free to come and go and interact with us as little as you like.
But we are kind and friendly too! We are very comfortable with visitors in our home, and we are happy to chat, give you ideas of what to explore in Newberg or surrounding areas, help with directions, etc. If you need a ride into town (campus, coffee shops, etc.) during your visit, I (Emily) would be more than happy to drop you off when I can!

Emily is fluent in Spanish if that would help at all during your stay!

Other things to note

If you are a family traveling for a college visit and have more than 2 people (eg, parents and the student), let us know, and we may be able to accommodate you with an air mattress in the room!

Response from Emily:
Due to a very unexpected urgent situation (see below), we did cancel on our airbnb guest, but we spoke with them on the phone first to make adequate alternative arrangements. We also not only refunded their money but also (with Susan's permission) reached out to another airbnb host in town to set up an alternative arrangement. In addition to a full refund of our reservation, we also paid for the difference in cost for Susan's new arrangement. We had a very unexpected emergency situation- a refugee family of seven our church had been preparing to welcome from Syria were due to arrive, and the apartment the resettlement agency had prepped for them had a pipe burst two days beforehand. My husband and I were very thankful we were able to host them, but very sorry to add a complication to our arranged guest's trip. We were appreciative of Susan's flexibility.

Emily and Ben were lovely hosts. Both really welcoming and kind. The private room was nice, clean and good for a night's rest. The rest of the house was warm, lived-in, and loaded with tons of books. Would stay again! Thx guys!!

Emily and Ben were very welcoming and kind. They had lots of suggestions for dining options. The room and private bathroom were clean and comfortable. I was attending a conference at George Fox University and the location was very convenient to campus.
