The space
Welcome to our home in Aurangabad – the City of Gates!
We are Gargi and Kiran, artists, explorers, and mindful hosts living in a hand-built home with our 8-year-old son and elderly parents. Rooted in simplicity and guided by sustainability, our lifestyle is zero-waste, minimalistic, and deeply connected to nature.

Our house is more than just a structure – it’s a living story. Built lovingly with our own hands using natural materials like mud, lime, stone, and reclaimed wood, it reflects our values of conscious living and harmony with the earth. Every corner has a purpose and a tale, crafted slowly and thoughtfully over time.

We are passionate about community, culture, and conversations. Our son is an open learner and unschooled, so our days are filled with curiosity, creativity, and deep listening – not just to each other, but also to our guests. We believe every person we meet brings a new perspective, and we cherish the relationships that grow from sharing meals, stories, and silences.

As lifelong residents of Aurangabad, we love sharing the heritage of our hometown. From the magnificent Ellora and Ajanta caves to hidden gems in old bylanes, we offer guided walks and cultural experiences. It’s not just about monuments – we explore local food, stories, and everyday life.

We enjoy hosting people from all over the world who appreciate slow, intentional living. If you’re someone who finds joy in handmade homes, warm conversations, and a slower rhythm, we’d love to host you.

Just a few things to keep in mind before booking (think of it like a friendly heads-up):
• Our rooms are on the second floor, so there are two flights of stairs to climb. A mini leg workout included in the stay!
• The road leading to our house has a small under-construction patch – totally usable, just a bit rustic (like us).
• We’re about 9 km from the bus stand, railway station, old city, and airport — close enough, yet away from the chaos.
• Ellora is 45 km and Ajanta is 120 km away, and we’re happy to help plan your trip.
• There’s no AC or TV – just natural breeze, quiet nights, and maybe a gecko or two for company.
• We love cooking and can share our home-cooked meals on request, for a small extra charge. Just let us know in advance.

Come as a guest, leave as a friend – or at least with a happy heart and full stomach.

Guest access
The rooms are part of our home, with entry through our living area. We welcome guests as family and are happy if you’d like to sit with us or use the shared living, dining, and kitchen spaces.

Other things to note
We live a zero-waste lifestyle, so we kindly request you to take back any plastic bottles, food containers, or leftovers you bring with you.
