The space

Original 1893 Victorian home that was remodeled over 6 years and completed in 2013. Located in the downtown corridor the house is walking distance to Water St/ Duckworth Street shops (2 blocks), Government house (1 block), Sheraton Hotel (3 blocks), Delta Hotel (8 Blocks) George Street (10 min walk) and other attractions. You are right in the center of everything

Extra large home was lovingly restored and offers over 3300 sq feet of living space, including a large greenhouse/conservatory on the top floor for enjoying your morning coffee or afternoon sunset meal.

Full wireless internet coverage in the house (does not extend into back yard)

Features King bed master bedroom, with adjoining full under twin (bunk) room, master bath with 2 person bath and 2 person shower steamer. Relax and have your own steam or sit in a full sized luxury 2 person tub. A new larger commercial water heater was added in December 2014 for longer showers/bath time.

Three more QUEEN sized bedrooms with 2 full bathrooms on 2nd floor.

Fully renovated kitchen with $21,000 wood fired pizza oven and full gourmet kitchen and 1100 sq foot entertainment and dining area.

Massive back yard is three times larger than most downtown homes and you can cook on your gas BBQ or wood BBQ or dine outside.

Home is great for kids and there is plenty of room in the back yard and a safe playground at the school just 100 feet from the door.

You must place towels in washer/dryer, do your dishes, prior to departure or they might be additional fees.
BE VERY AWARE that the top floor tub has special HIGH FLOW valves and faucet and you can not under ANY circumstances walk away from it while it is filling. It will fill up in less than 3 min and overflow in only 4. It will also suck all the water out of the hot water tank if you leave it on. This is not your grandma's bath tub!

Jon was a great host, Very accommodating and communication was easy. He made me feel very comfortable and like I was right in my own home, a very luxurious version of it but I felt very welcomed. Jon was a great host and his place and the location are beautiful.

This is a wonderful find in SJ - very large and spacious, conveniently located to downtown, charming and elegant and comfortable all in one. There were 7 guests who stayed in our party and plenty of room for everyone. We were attending a family wedding and managed to get a few units all in close proximity - which was great as everyone felt included and it was easier to coordinate logistics. We had guests ranging from youth to mid-seventies and it was suitable to all. A definite thumbs up!

This was a disappointing experience to say the least. We were provided with a PDF of rules and information, including very explicit instructions on how to report any problems in the house and on cleaning expectations for when we left, (strip the beds, wash the linens and towels, etc). This was fine, as we were expecting a home kept in pristine condition as a result. We were sorely disappointed when we arrived. Although a beautiful space, the house smelled musty, felt unclean, and was in a surprising state of disrepair. The worst part was that on some of the beds, the sheets seemed to be dirty. We had problems with the stovetop (2 elements weren't working), dripping faucets, and two of the three jet tubs weren't working. One of them even ended up flooding a lower floor bedroom. This was a problem that Jonathan knew about but failed to let us know about before we arrived. He was very responsive after we reported the issues, however. The pizza oven was one of our main draws to the property, but we were given the run around in trying to get instructions on how to operate it. It seemed as though Jonathan didn't want guests using it because of problems he had in the past. He kept promising to get us the instructions, which never actually arrived. At this point, with all of the other malfunctions, we didn't want to risk it, but be warned if you are wanting to use it that it might be a battle to get the details. Overall, it was a very uncomfortable stay. We were afraid to touch/use most things for fear that they would break, and the overall atmosphere and experience was very unwelcoming.

I know Danielle means well but think she was worried about everything. She was emailing me every day with "hot water drip, we turned it off' and other minor notes, which are appreciated and were dealt with but hardly worth mentioning except when you leave. Dirty house we do have house cleaners on call and on the contact list and available to deal with your issues to your satisfaction. I have no problem with sending them over and having them do what needs doing. Danielle said she found hair on a bed she was not using, the cleaner came over said it was made, offered to remake it, Danielle said it was not being used. One Jacuzzi had a GFI trip which is a reset button on the wall in the bathroom (not what I would call a major issue, please push reset), the other did have an airline leak which we did know about but was scheduled to be fixed when she left, and had thought the tub was turned off - it did do a minor flood, no harm, tub is fixed and working great. As for Pizza oven, maintenance man came over to help them and walk them though it and they sent him away. He came back and to deal with the tub a second time and they never asked. If you want to use the Pizza oven you can but we ask for you to let us explain over the phone or in person (Danielle declined both). She DID say that not having jetted tubs (because the tubs were still tubs and 100% usable, you just couldn't blow jetted water) was really important to her and wanted $450 in compensation. She wasn't afraid to ask for that :-) though she was afraid of "most things for fear they would break." I did compensate her with $200 for her issues. Yes there were some, but everything was resolved - Tub fixed, GFI reset, burner fixed. bbq replaced (that wasnt on her list), house cleaned by 3 cleaners top to bottom for 8 hrs.

This property is just amazing! We had a wonderful stay. It was super close to everything, super comfy beds, beautiful views of Signal Hill. We had a hard time leaving. Thank you Jon for your hospitality!
