This is a two bedroomed, newly renovated bungalow. Heated by oil and solid fuel stove. It is 24km from Belmullet and Bangor Erris. Walking distance to local shop and bar. Near to local beaches. It is ideal for a relaxing holiday or for weekend let. There are lovely areas to explore and walk or cycle.
“I have to mention the very kind and warm hosts, Deborah and John, first, which made us feel very welcome. The house is in a really quite area, in the middle of nowhere you could say, next to the ocean (you can actually see it from one of the bedrooms). And in the night this might be the only thing you can hear. The house is very cosy and it feels like staying at your friends house, it has a personal touch. As we stayed at Deborah´s place, we did some hiking (Portalcloy Loop Cliff Walk), which was amazing, we didn´t see anyone for hours (except some sheeps ;)) and we went to Keel at Archil Island which was a bit of a ride but still manageable. You should also check out the beach next to Cross Lough near Belmullet. We really recommend to check out the local pub (Dennys Ferry Bar) to get to know more of the members of this very nice community at Ross port.”
Located just a 5 min walk from Portacloy beach there's also a local shop a 5 min drive or 30 min walk in a nearby village. Also two pubs in the area one in Rossport and the other in Stonefield. There's a restaurant open during the week called Teach Grainne which is also a take away during the weekend. Nearest town of Belmullet is a 30 min drive.
“We arrived to the most beautiful location and our breaths were taken away as we drove around the corner, surrounded by the wild vast scenery! Just amazing. The cottage was homely. Mary's kindness, included having the fire lit, provisions, details on the fridge with numbers for take out, post office and shop etc. Cottage was spotless. Comfortable too. It's the wilderness in comparison to our every day life and just what the doctor ordered. Can't wait for the next little retreat.”
Set along the Wild Atlantic Way, Cosy 4 bed house with stunning views, wake up to the sound of the waves breaking on the shore, quiet peacefull area with a good community. Irish language spoken.
“Great house to stay in for an authentic Irish experience. Roger is generous and friendly host with a dose of great sense humour. One of the most beautiful landscapes you will ever see are walking distance from the house. Highly recommended!”
