  • Nice home, well situated near town center. Kind host even if our arrival was late and the departure early and so we did not talk much.

  • Christine made us feel very welcome and was very helpful about where to eat & drink in Bantry. Large room with a comfy bed and private bathroom. Perfect!

  • We stayed here while attending a wedding in Bantry and it was perfectly located and a gorgeous place to stay! Christine accommodated us without any hassle when we needed very late check in and also a second night short notice. She also runs a lovely craft shop underneath the guesthouse! I'd highly recommend staying here!

  • Had an amazing stay in Christine and seamus townhouse. It was really nearby the main square in bantry bay. The room was spotless and really comfortable and had a really unique view of an old graveyard which was really peaceful. We will definitely return to explore around some more as the weather knocked us off our stride unfortunately!

  • The house the room is in is really beautiful and just neat. It's layout was very unique and cool to see. There is natural wood everywhere. And the view—I've never stayed that close to a graveyard. The whole place was just funky and cool. When we got in, Christine pointed out spots on a map and recommended some places to eat that would be open on the bank holiday. Bantry was a cool little ocean town.

  • Lovely place to stay!

  • I used Christine and Seamus's place as a starting and ending point for a walk around the Sheep's Head Way. The suite is very close to the town square in Bantry, so restaurants, pubs, shopping, coffee, and the start/end of the Sheep's Head are all within walking distance. I highly recommend a stay here if you are visiting Bantry and the surrounding area, or you are just passing through.

  • Very clean, comfortable, warm room. Very central would highly recommend as a base when visiting the most beautiful part of Ireland, Beara and west Cork. Thank you Christine

We really enjoy the accomodation and Christine's advice (about the place to be visited around Bantry) was very helpful.

    Maureen2016-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Thomas and Sheila made our stay in Bantry feel like a home from home. The house was clean and very cosy and all the little extras meant a lot! The box of childrens cereal went down well with my three year old and made us feel like our hosts really looked at who was staying in their accommodation! The house is situated perfectly in bantry so we could walk 5 mins into town and 5 mins to the childrens play park! Lots of leaflets where available on things to do and see and the information booklet gave good advice on things to do and places to eat. Thomas and Sheila checked on us to make sure everything was ok during our stay and were only a phone call away. There was games etc to keep us amused at night although the wifi went down even better with my stepdaughter! It was my dads first stay in Bantry and he really enjoyed his stay! I will definitely be looking to return and will be happy to spread the word to those that want to stay in bantry for a break to stay in this accommodation.

  • Thomas and Sheila met us at the house and welcomed us warmly despite our arriving dripping wet form a day's ride in the rain. They showed us the ins and outs of the house, a complete house guide and additional tourist information pamphlets were also provided. Thomas followed up to ensure all was well with our stay, much appreciated. The house is as described and all of our needs were met. All amenities were within a 5 to 10 minute walk, the location is ideal for touring the southern regions of Cork and Kerry counties. A quiet and comfortable setting, a nice place to stay. Thank you, Thomas and Sheila, we truly enjoyed our visit. Denise and Rick

  • Great warm welcome from Sheila & Thomas to a lovely home. Upon arrival everything with the house was demonstrated and explained very clearly with a very useful information sheet with WiFi password etc. The real icing on the cake however was the 'welcome pack' that contained a bottle of wine, eggs, tea/coffee, milk, butter, orange juice etc that helped get me started. Very kind of them and would be delighted to stay with them again.

    Kenny2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a nice stay with Thomas. Good location, close to town, and a short drive from many scenic drives. Very clean house with all the amenities we needed. Recommended.

  • We have stayed in Thomas & Sheila's house for four nights and it was a very enjoyable stay. The house is spotless and cosy. Kitchen has all necessary utensils so you can cook your own food. We were welcomed by a lovely bottle of wine and other groceries so we felt very much at home. The house is within walking distance from the cenral part of Bantry, however it is in quiet location and we had very good sleep every night, bed is very comfortable too. Thank you Thomas & Sheila!

  • We stayed with Maureen for 1 night while visiting a friend in Bantry. The house is very central to the town, a stones throw to restaurants, bars and the waterfront. The house itself is up a small set of steps and the room was one story up. The room was bright clean and comfortable. There was an ensuite onto our room with a nice shower. We slept very well. Check in was easy, Maureen was excellent at communicating with us. We didn't see anywhere else in the house besides our room, not sure if guests are allowed in other rooms. There was no wifi, this was clear in the ad. 4G signal was good in the house so we didn't see it as an issue. We would happily stay again thank you!

  • Maureen is a lovely lady. We enjoyed meeting Dingle, her friendly dog. The house is a lovely period piece and the location is quite central. We found it very handy and quiet at night.

  • Maurenee's home is a perfect accomodation to visit Bantry, Sheep Head and Mizen Head. She gave us perfect indication such as runner and places to visit (durrus and sheep's Head are wonderful!).

    Irene2016-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, laid back atmosphere, & Maureen and Dingle were very friendly Nothing was too much trouble.

    Lloyd2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed just one night at Maureen's very cosy & homely place. I booked at very short notice (on the same day) due to a sudden change in circumstances and Maureen was very kind & responded very quickly to my request and immediately accepted my booking. The accommodation is exactly as described and shown in the profile and it has a lovely older & traditional charm to it. The double bed was perfectly comfortable and the ensuite shower & toilet were much appreciated too. Maureen also very kindly allowed me to make a little breakfast (tea & cereal) in a separate kitchenette room in the morning. The location is only 10 mins walk from the centre of Bantry and even though it is on a main road the room is quiet and I had no problems in getting a good night's sleep. All in all, highly recommended.

    Graham2017-06-25T00:00:00Z

We bought the cottage in a run-down state in 2007 and had to completely renovate it. But it has thick stone walls and lots of character and is now very comfortable. We live here much of the time but need to rent it out to pay the mortgage!
Old and beautifully renovated cottage in pretty small harbour town. Fantastic countryside and coastal walks. Cottage only a few minutes from Bay and shops but set back with pleasant views of the fields etc. Fire and Aga/Stanley, dishwasher, washer and dryer. Garage. Small garden and roof terrace. Homely decoration and very comfortable. Rates don't vary much because we don't charge extra for electricity etc, and bills are much higher when it's colder! We charge a bit more in July and August and at Christmas because we would like to be there ourselves. The house is detached and is on a quiet road five minutes from Bantry town centre, where there are shops, pubs, restaurants, banks, a cinema and a very good outdoor market every Friday. There is a regular bus service (Eireann 236) between Bantry, Cork and Glengarriff.
West Cork is a very beautiful part of Ireland but doesn't suffer from the coach-loads of tourists you get in Kerry and Galway. Lots of things to see and do but this is genuine rural Ireland, not a synthetic tourist destination.
  • We had a fantastic stay in Bantry at the Bluebell Cottage. The cottage is in a walkable location, central to all the pubs and restaurants in town - which made our stay most enjoyable. Robert was more then helpful in ensuring that we were well informed on the must see restaurants/activities within the West cork area. Overall, I would highly recommend a stay at this B&B if you are in the Bantry area.

    Eric2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely quaint clean cottage. In the heart of the town yet felt like we were in the country.

    Vickie2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was the first time we stayed in a real Irish Cottage with the thick stone walls, slate roof, and and fireplace. The bedrooms were wonderful. One of them had its own deck right off the second floor. This Cottage was built into the hill that surrounds the town of Bantry. The Ambiance was just so Charming. We used the writing desk to plan our trips every day. Perfect light to read maps by. Just a short walk to the Quay with its shops pubs and restaurants. We hope we will be able to stay there again on our next trip to southern Ireland.

    Richard2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • We fell in love with Bluebell Cottage. We were met by Robert's charming property manager"Zora" who was great about explaining, and showing us how the Cottage functions.Robert had a lovely bottle of wine waiting for us on dinning table, and a stack of books, brochures, and maps perfect for first time Visitors to Ireland. Cottage is so Cozy, cute, comfortable, and charming ! Robert and Zora both were very easy to contact by email, with quick responses .We stayed for a month at Bluebell, and were sad to leave.

  • beautiful cottage with all you need for a nice holiday in bantry!

  • We had an excellent time staying at Bluebell Cottage over Christmas. Robert's home is authentic, intimate, homey and exactly what we hoped for. We cooked frequently and the kitchen is well appointed. The cottage is a short walk down hill into the Bantry shopping/eatery/pub district. Robert met us upon arrival and provided complete instructions on the house. Just an extremely positive experience. Molly Hatfield

  • We had a lovely family break at Bluebell Cottage. This quaint cottage is right beside the town of Bantry, and it had everything we needed to make ourselves (family of five) feel comfortable. One dreary evening we lit the fire (Robert had kindly left out kindling and firewood) and played cards and board games around the fire. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and there are even Cookery Books on hand for inspiration. Bantry has plenty of Cafes and Restaurants .Organico Cafe is nearby and their coffee and baked goods are delicious. The Friday Farmers Market there is massive and we came away laden down with yummy local produce. The surrounding landscape is breathtaking, we hiked the Cooryoomane Loop, the children took a surf lesson at Barley Cove on the Mizen Head Peninsula and crossed the Suspension Bridge, and visited Foto Wildlife Park. A visit to Bantry House and Gardens is worthwhile for the view of the bay alone as was the drive out to sheep's head. The cottage was the perfect base for us and we would love to stay again in the future.

    Caroline2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • We spent five nights in Roberts lovely cottage. It's really lovely, very much like a home and with funny details such as his collection of horror movies. When we arrived, Roberts friend Zora had left the key in a secure place so we could get into the house very late at night without anyone having to be there. That was very comfortable. There was an instruction sheet with information on everything, so we easily washed our clothes etc. We spent our days sleeping in the comfy beds (the location is definitely quiet), having extended breakfast (buy "Mum's bread" and scones at "Box of Frogs" café!), preparing incredible fish for lunch and walking or driving around the really beautiful landscape nearby (we recommend trekking on Sheeps Head and walking through Glengarriff Nature Reserve). Bantry itself is sleepy but nice - one night we had some drinks at "Ma Murphy's" pub, where we were almost invited to a wedding the next day. Altogether we really felt at home in your home, Robert - thanks a lot for sharing it with us!

Situated on the Wild Atlantic Way, The Cottage overlooks the town square and Bantry Bay. Renowned for great locally produced food, friendly pubs and restaurants, it is an ideal base for exploring the breathtaking scenery of West Cork and surrounds.
The entire house, the side patio and the woodland lane (which has a walkers' right of way) is yours to enjoy. Consider it your 'Home from home'. The patio may be used for private parking if you wish, but usually we leave the car on the road outside as the house at the end of the lane where there is no passing traffic.
A good place to start is simply to take a walk around the town. You will be surprised by the no. and variety of excellent, locally owned restaurants, cafes, pubs and real shops providing, literally, everything, from a needle to an anchor for the people of Bantry and the surrounding farms and villages. The Bantry town fair, on every Friday morning is a 'must see'; a place where local artisan food producers proudly display their produce side by side with booksellers, bric-a- brac stalls, even fortune tellers in a riot of colour and good humour. For the sporty there is golf, fishing, a gym and horse-riding. Bantry is also a great place for walking. The scenery of West Cork and Kerry is renowned for its gentle hills and valleys, beautiful, out of the way beaches, colourful villages and frequent festivals. We are well aware that the weather is not always great here. This is Ireland after all, so there is plenty to do. The Westlodge Hotel, just on the edge of the town has a swimming pool where day guests are welcomed.
  • We were made to feel very welcome, and the host was easily contactable. We had breakfast items available and the heating was turned on for our arrival. We arrived quite late and the host was able to greet us. The cottage needed some airing when we arrived perhaps it hadn't been used over the winter months, and there were a few cobwebs here and there. The location was excellent - very close to town and the bay which is what we wanted, And the price was quite reasonable.

  • Bantry is a perfect location to explore both county cork and Kerry. The hosts made us feel very welcome with a welcoming breakfast and a tour around the house. The house lies in a quit location, but with perfect and close access to shops, harbour, and centre. I recommend the house to anyone who wants to have a perfect base for exploration of the area!

  • Maureen's house was absolutely perfect - clean, spacious, bright and sunny. The kitchen is well-equipped and it was so nice to have the washer and dryer given the wet weather at the time. The house is very central and only a minute or so from a beautiful walk along the sea, pubs, the Tourist info centre, the market on Fridays and more. We were able to do everything on foot. We arrived later than expected but were met with a warm welcome from Robert who guided us from the nearby church to the house and then showed us around the house. We hope to come back!

    Grace 2016-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • I can't praise Maureen's place and her hosting skills enough! We were met on time, taken to the house and shown how the heating etc worked. It was home from home! We had brought toiletries etc but Maureen had provided these plus cooking oil sauces washing powder etc for those who didn't. Location was fantastic right in town centre with a side yard for kids to play safely, house was warm and cosy free wifi was handy and bedrooms spacious. We will Definately stay again thank you Maureen

  • The house is situated behind the church (were we were working each morning for our stay) just off the main square in Bantry. What a location! We were greeted by a key holder and given the tour and left to our own devices for the week. The house had the basics in the fridge and plenty of clean towels and bedding. It was also immaculate. The two ensuite double rooms gave us the privacy we needed with a spacious common area to hang out in on the rare occasions we weren't either working or walking by the sea. I'd highly recommend this property. Many thanks Maureen and see you next time hopefully...!

  • This apartment is really well equipped for you to enjoy your stay and is centrally located in the heart of Bantry town. There is no designated parking space but there is free parking in Bantry, getting parked was never an issue. The apartment itself was very quirky and had loads of charm to it. Our only gripe was that we were a party of 4, and would question if this is a 2 bedroom apartment - the smaller bedroom has no door and is in-between the living room and stairs to the larger bedroom shown in pictures. The bedroom with the futon has approx. 50cm on the two corners against a wall, meaning on top of having no door there was little space for getting dressed or having any belongings in the room with us. Would not recommend this apartment for more than two adults. However, all other rooms were really well equipped and comfy!

    Niall2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful flat to stay in - there are many steps, but it gives the place character.

  • Maura's place was absolutely perfectly! The location was ideal for a road trip with the Wild Atlantic Way easily accessible. Also, Maura was an amazing host- easy to communicate, understanding if anything hinders check-in plans and very accommodating! Definitely worth booking for any Irish adventures.

  • Absolutely love Maura's place!!!! Really central location in bantry; a great springboard for exploring the beautiful natural sights surrounding the town and all along the wild Atlantic coast; not too far a drive from the ring of Kerry. Brilliant pubs and seafood restaurants a minutes walk away. Spotless clean and great decor with plenty of room and comfortable living spaces. Really comfy beds too!!! Some food left in the fridge for us so we could make some tea on arrival and get comfortable. Free secure/private car parking on site. Hosting was brilliant; Maura was really friendly and a perfect host. Clear and thorough instructions on using everything in the house. Loved staying here and would love to stay again. Xxx :)

  • Maura's place was clean, stylish, and accommodating. Maura was friendly and had some small breakfast supplies for us. The one downfall is that there is no wifi, and we did not have cell service without wifi so it was a little complicated for us. Overall, a lovely stay.

This is a very old private cottage with great charecter, a warm modern interior situated right in the centre of Bantry town. It has a paved garden setting it back from the entrance. Many years ago when Ma used to live here it was a great house for visiting, card playing, tea drinking and topical discussions(gossip), everyone was welcome. It is very central just off the main plaza. The entire building is yours and would be most suitable for small families or four friends sharing.
There is a double room ensuite(shower only) with a King size bed, and two single beds on a mezanine floor that overlooks the main living area. There is a second bathroom downstairs also(shower only). All beds are upstairs so unfortunatley this premise is not wheelchair friendly. The whole cottage is yours with a fully fitted kitchen, towels, bedding and laundry facilities. There is a TV with local channels and wifi.
This Cottage is right in the heart of the oldest part of Bantry. Set back from the lane it is very private. With local residents all round it is generally quiet. You can park outside the gate of the cottage on the laneway, or on the Main plaza at the end of the lane. The Hotel and the end of the lane has a night club at weekends, sometimes music can be distantly heard. The town offers a fine selection of restaurants and bars. The Fish Kitchen is our number one choice in restaurants with Ma Murphys and The Anchor Tavern our choice in local bars. For wet days the local cinema is less that 2mins walk away. And for the Sunny days(we get the odd one!) Bantry Beach is less that 10 mins walk.
  • This spot is well positioned down a little lane in town central. The house is charming and well kitted out. Bedding and linen in good condition and plenty of extra towels if required. The pics are a good representation of what is available and I would highly recommend a stay here.

    Caron2017-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing accommodation and very spacious indeed! We love the location and how Spanish it feels! The host kept in contact with us before, during and after our trip and his restaurant is simply amazing! Should we be in the neighbourhood, we would love to stay in this property again. Thank you, Diarmaid for being a great host!

    David2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a find! We were looking for somewhere to stay in the Southwest of Ireland during our tour of the country and could not have chosen a better place! Diarmaid's cottage is beautiful, spacious and quiet while still being right in the centre of town and thus easy to get to everything. We had a wonderful stay and were met with an efficient and informative check-in. Diarmaid was available for any questions and had lots of information ready for us when we arrived. Bantry itself is so cute. What a picturesque little town on the coast. Must-do's are Bantry House and a wander around the town. The local tourism office is really wonderful and there are daily heritage tours so you can find out a bit more information about the area while you're there. I hope to return again!

    Kat2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Cottage is exactly as pictured & described. It's located in the middle of the block & GPS won't pick that up - park on the street near the Bantry House & walk up what looks like the alley next to it. The real treat is the location..walk straight down 200 feet or so & you're on the main street. Shops, pubs, restaurants, live music, the square, the bus stop, (URL HIDDEN) all there. stop by Box of Frogs for baked goods shakes, smoothies & juices...and loved The Snug! Superb steaks, Irish stew & the Grilled Goat Cheese salad--YUM! Be sure to visit The Bamboo Park in nearby Glengariff--it is a real gem!

    Deborah2017-06-14T00:00:00Z

Bantry is a town busy with local life and in various states of decay and development which provides an authentic view of the west of Ireland. Glengarriff with the famous sub-tropical gardens on Garnish island is 17 km away and access to the Sheep's head, beloved with walkers is 4 km.

Combining style and character, this apartment has been carefully renovated to mix and match old with new. On the second floor of an historical Georgian building (once a police station, in which Brendan Behan was incarcerated overnight), overlooking Wolfe Tone Square, it's a perfect base for your West Cork adventure.
  • Catherine was right there when we arrived and also when we left which was lucky as we had accidentally locked ourselves out! She spent time telling us all about the area, things to do, restaurants etc. Very helpful and welcoming. Apartment is lovely, bright, spacious, fresh and clean. It is a great location. Right in heart of town. You could just sit and people watch all day from the window down into the square if you wish! Bars and restaurants just steps away! Just be warned that it can be noisy at night until pubs and clubs are closed. But it didn't actually bother us. Also there are two flights of stairs to the apartment but it is not steep so should not be a problem for most! The Sheep Head peninsula is a gem. Fantastic views all round and of the neighbouring peninsulas, lots of well marked walks, lots of things to do and places to explore. Bantry House also worth a visit. Bantry has plenty of good pubs, restaurants and cafes to choose from. A grand wee town with lovely views out into the bay and Whiddy Island. There is a great market right below the apartment on a Friday which is well worth including in your trip if you can.

  • This is a beautiful apartment located right in the heart of Bantry Bay. The interior is light and airy and very contemporary. It is kitted out with everything you could need and the kitchen is especially good. It is quiet and peaceful despite being only a minute from bars and restaurants. Catherine was incredibly welcoming, ready to meet us and show us around. Thank you so much for a great stay! Claire

  • Catherine's apartment is located right in the centre of Bantry, with shops, restaurants and pubs all in walking distance. In spite of the central location, it was quiet at night. No problem to find parking near the apartment, except for Friday, due to the market taking place in Bantry. The apartment is comfortable, provides ample space and is equipped with everything you might need. Catherine was a perfect host, communication was quick and very friendly. Upon our arrival in Bantry, she was already waiting for us ant the entrance of the building. She gave us a lot of useful information including an excellent recommendation for a good seafood restaurant in Bantry. Bantry is a perfect location for day trips exploring places such as Mizen Head or Killarney National Park. We highly recommend staying at Catherine's apartment.

  • I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone staying in Bantry. It was clean, bright, really nicely-decorated, and perfectly-located in the middle of the town. Everything was exactly as you would want it when I arrived. Most of all, Catherine is a great host. I managed to lose my keys (!) and Catherine was extremely obliging in getting me a new set as quickly as possible.

  • Stayed here while attending the West Cork Chamber Music Festival, myself and my mother...the location is right in the middle of everything, and was close to all the venues. The apartment is clean and comfortable, with a lovely view out over the town square. Catherine prepared the place really well, with essentials like milk and some nice fruit, and even went and got us brochures for the festival, as she knew that was why we were coming. She took a lot of time to explain everything we needed to know about the place at check in, met us at the bus stop, and even offered to post something we left behind. All in all, really great stay!
