Breath Taking Country Side House ( 100.49 acres), 1h40 by train from London. Perfect to relax: fire places, big swimming pool, tennis court, orangery colonnade and two lakes. Bow shooting kayaking on the lake and river, horse riding, bird watching.
"Perhaps the most beautiful house of manageable size in Suffolk" (Norman Scarfe), this exceptional Grade I listed Georgian country house is set in an extensive parkland and woodland: this wonderful location is perfect to make yourself relax walking through private breath-taking woods, swimming in the crystalline water of the pool settled in the middle of an amazing english garden and observing the incredible quantity of different birds, deers and squirrels which resides in the park.
  • We were looked after well, the team were friendly and I will recommend Worlingham Hall to everyone!

  • This certainly was "The most beautiful house in Suffolk". We had an amazing time here and I'll definitely be back! Our host Tommaso was great and very accommodating. The chef Sarath was fantastic. He cooked us up an incredible feast and made us feel very much at home. All in all this place is truly exceptional.

  • This fantastic country house is a very special place for a celebration. Weddings would be wonderful. Staff and surroundings both magnificent. A place to make memories to treasure.

    Susan2016-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • The house was the perfect setting for Christmas for my large family! Tommaso and John were great at communicating throughout. The house was nice and warm and fully equipped with everything we needed.

  • Worlingham Hall is an amazing place. Beautiful house and gardens, a lovely heated pool area, and staff who worked tirelessly to make sure we had everything we needed. I stayed for my 30th birthday with a group of friends, and can honestly say it was one of the best weekends of my entire life. Thank you so, so much to Italo, Tommaso & Sarath for everything. We'll be back!!

  • Words can't describe this place, it's just open jaw amazing. If you've ever wanted to live like the English aristocracy then this is the place! There is a living room for practically every guest, stunning period features and everything you could want on your doorstep - a pool, walks, archery, clay pigeon shooting, local countryside pubs - it's a real English country over the top extravagant experience. The staff at the manor are always happy to help, the ground and house are immaculately kept. We felt like royalty! I couldn't recommend this experience enough!

    Holly2015-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • This week will be remembered s one of the finest I've ever had, Worlingham is an amazing place, clean, beautiful outdoors, the PERFECT stay if you love the countryside with a touch of luxury and comfort. • Wonderful time, photos are just like the real thing. Beautifully presented, the flowers were a nice touch.

  • Friendly greeting and pleasant home, was very nice night in and good night sleep.

    Jack2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We were met on arrival by Angela who showed us around the cottage and explained how everything operated. The cottage was as described, and we were very impressed by the comfort and cleanliness of it. The surroundings were quiet and peaceful. Angela told us if there was anything we needed to just pop round to her or contact her by phone. We would certainly be more than happy to stay there in the future.

    roger2016-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Angela was very welcoming and the cottage very clean and beautifully decorated. The neighbourhood is lovely and quiet. We didn't get much chance to explore Beccles and its surroundings as we were at Latitude festival during the day, but it has encouraged us to visit again!

    Xavier2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts are really friendly. They are happy to let you be, or to give advice and chat. The cottage is lovely for a country retreat. It was a lovely romantic and comfortable stay.

    Naomi2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Angela was very welcoming and upon arrival showed us round the house, told us where the nearest supermarket and places to eat were and had left us some milk and biscuits for a very welcome cuppa after a long journey. The location was ideal for the wedding we were attending at Elm's barn and also a 25 minute drive from Southwold which we took a trip to. The cottage was clean and inviting, and there is a lovely outside space if the weather permits! All in all a lovely stay and would definitely return.

    emma2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Angela's beautiful little cottage. We had a party of three attending a wedding in Elm Barns which is about a minutes walk, we were actually closer to the venue than the bride and groom! Lovely apartment, gorgeous surroundings, could not be happier. Thank you Angela and Hugh!

Situated in the Waveny Valley and close to the market towns of Beccles, Bungay and Harleston, Railway Cottage offers two double bedrooms with en-suites, lounge, dining room, kitchen and good size courtyard garden.
  • The property could be very nice but needs some attention. The bed was comfortable and the whole property was clean. But there were quite a few minor ''issues'', so the overall experience was only OK.

    Roy2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in a tranquil location.

    nick2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend at this beautiful cottage. Although rural we were at the beach and broads within 30 minutes. David was friendly and helpful. Our children loved the horses in the surrounding fields. Would highly recommend,!

    Roxanne2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived in the dark after a 10 hour cycle muddy, cold and hungry. David offered to prepare us food (for just £7/head) and was happy to cater to vegan diets. Without which we would have really struggled to eat. The place is great, has a wood fire, large ensuite bedrooms, good power showers, great mattresses... Only downside was the lack of food basics, only milk, bread and teabags... would have helped to have some cheap cereal/oats given the distance to the nearest shops (~5 miles). Overall great place to stay, host is welcoming and very accommodating!

    Nikul2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay very clean and lots of extras! excellent value for money and great rueal location. Clearly welcomes children even though we did not have any with us which many don't. Great base for exploring the norfolk broads. Would definitely stay again.

    abbie2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is even nicer than the advert suggests. It's beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and in an incredibly tranquil place. David was the perfect host - he answered questions quickly and even though we arrived late in the evening, the fire was on. There was milk in the fridge and bread and tea and coffee in the kitchen and it was easy for us to relax after a long day driving without having to worry about finding a shop. We would make a point of coming back to the area to stay here again - we would spend more time in the cottage!

    Hannah2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • The location is stunning, being surrounded by fields, and is wonderfully peaceful. The bedrooms are both large with good en suites and the beds are really comfortable. I have suggested to David that he gets a microwave for easy eating as there are no pubs nearby (nearest town Beccles).

    A Relaxing Rural Retreat
    34 reviews
A unique sleeping area in a detached timber building arranged as a "Cabinet of Curiosities" (BEWARE Some are quite scary). The space is heated by a wood burner. There is a sleeping loft with double mattress, and a further double sofa bed in the lounge area. It has an office area with wireless internet. There is a sauna and seasonal use of an outdoor pool **** NB The pool is now closed for the winter as we have had the first frost ***
This is a detached timber building measuring approximately six metres by four metres at the end of a rural garden, the building materials have come from all over the world and each object inside has it’s own story to tell. For example, the Aspen used to clad the sauna was collected by me during a trip to Parnu in Estonia and above the door you can find a shingle from the roof of the first prison in Australia. I have always been a “collector of the unusual” since my grandfather took me to visit a museum when I was about 6. The exhibits here are a mixture of genuine artifacts and genuine hoaxes!! Guests can look around my collection and I am happy to discuss it with them. The building is insulated, double glazed and heated by a wood burner. It comprises of: . A lounge area approximately four metres square which houses a small museum in the style of a Victorian "Cabinet of Curiosities" . A sleeping loft with double mattress (Please note, this is accessed by a very steep fixed ladder). . A double sofa bed in the lounge for when there are more than 2 guests or for less agile visitors. . There is an office area with a desk, fast wireless internet, DVD player/ projector with surround sound system (There are a wide variety of DVDs in the main house that you can borrow). . There is an electrically heated sauna under the sleeping loft and a pool outside. . There is a further loft space above the porch which provides a relaxing "chill out" area. . Facilities are currently limited to an "outside toilet" and wash basin (cold water only) in an adjacent building but we are currently building a "mini museum" next to the main museum and this will include a hot shower, toilet and basin. We hope to have this fully open by the end of 2017. Please be aware that some guests may consider some of the museum exhibits to be a bit gruesome and scary (they include such things as a grave robbed Victorian skull, a trunk purported to have contained the remains of a murder victim and a feejee mermaid etc. as well as less scary artifacts such as a rare Oliver typewriter, gramophone, clocks, a magic lantern and such like)
We are situated in a small village in the Norfolk Broads. There is a pub in walking distance but no village shop. It is really peaceful and has no streetlights which means we get to see the most amazing skies at night (There is a telescope available for use if you ask at the main house). From the museum you see more wildlife than people!
  • Amazing host, and amazing place to stay. We had such good fun and felt very looked after. Thanks Dave!

    Carla2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as described. A totally magical place. Dave was so hospitable and the museum was a delight, lots of trinkets to look through. We walked to the local pub (5-10 mins) and it was lovely. Perfect for 2-3 people. The toilet is in a little outdoor hut, there is a light and a sink . It's fine, and as described. The additional bathroom which Dave is planning will make the world of difference. Would definitely recommend this to a friend, and would return. All in all, thank you for a brilliant stay.

  • Dave and his wife Sue were just lovely so welcoming and it was the perfect interesting and unusual place to stay. Lots of interesting antiquities, wonderful view from the cosysleeping loft space out onto a field we watched sunrise and saw foxes hunting for rabbits, chickens came to say hello, and breakfast on the porch watching a robin come close by. I'd recommend this to all! Thanks

  • Great BnB located in a beautiful rural area. Lot's of interesting exhibits to marvel at along with the use of a sauna and pool. Great hosts.

    Maria2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • A very interesting place to stay, when you first go in it feels very close to the house, but the family are very friendly and you soon get used to this. The collection is very interesting we really enjoyed looking round, and the pool was great fun. Would defiantly come back!

  • I stayed at The Museum with my 15 year old son as a peaceful weekend break before his GCSE's start in two weeks time. He enjoyed it as much as I did! The Museum is a very special place... very unique, quirky, peaceful and cosy. My most favourite bit was when i was laying in the sauna, watching the World Snooker semi-final on my ipad through the glass door whilst also watching rabbits playing in the field out the back. Bliss! Was so nice to have a sauna to myself without members of the public coming in and out like happens at the gym. The beds were very comfy and the room was very warm with the woodburner and sauna. There were lots of birds about, feeding off of the bird feeders, plus rabbits and deer in the fields. Yummy breakfasts, plenty of tea and coffee, helpful and friendly hosts... Just perfect! The new toilet/shower room wasn't finished when we visited, but will certainly add to the value and quality of the whole experience when it is. The exhibits in the museum are fascinating! We noticed new things all the time. A great idea to put them together and then share them with others. There is a nearby indoor swimming pool at Waveney River Centre, 5 minutes drive further into the countryside. We went there for a swim and some food in the bar. Great place, with a play area and plenty of boats to look at. Plus the local pub is only a ten minute walk from the accommodation, serving lovely food. Thanks again to Dave and Sue, for opening up your home and for being so welcoming, see you sometime, much love from Sarah and Ruben xxxx

Our house is approached by a private drive with electric security gates. It sits in a large, and very private party of the countryside. Surrounded by farmland we have lovely long walks and for the energetic good running routes. With a country pub on the door step it’s a lovely position. In our house, the open plan kitchen and big family dining table is our favourite spot. Moving into the lounge with wood burning stove for cosy sofa time. Our two cats really make our house a home
Our cats love cuddles and enjoy chilling out by the fire... by having our home the will rely on you for feeding
To the rear side of the house is a small cottage that adjoins. Our neighbour is very quiet! You have lovely towns of beccles very close. A little further afield is a sandy beach at Gorleston which is great for long walks.

  • Mandy and family are wonderful hosts. Loulou my dog was made to feel very welcome by the 2 house dogs and so did we. We had a lovely walk and followed Mandy 's recommendation and had a gorgeous meal by the river a short walking distance from the house. The room was spacious and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. All in all a very enjoyable experience. Highly recommended. I will certainly come again

  • Mandy was an excellent and thoughtful host. She was good at keeping in touch before I stayed and was flexible on timings (I needed to drop bags round early before heading to a wedding nearby). There was a slight problem as the hot water had gone in the room I was meant to be in, but I had a lovely upgrade to a room with a huge bathroom and dressing room in her main house. Breakfast in the morning was lovely too, it was a relaxing and very pleasant stay, I would definitely return and would recommend Mandy's place to others. A lovely AirBnB experience - thank you Mandy! Susan2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • I am very glad I decided to stay in 'the cottages', the stay was lovely and went beyond my expectation. The house was clean, with clearly some thought put into the decoration and design of the building. All basic necessities were present in the home, 2 supermarkets were close by, which just made life a bit easier when you are new to a town. My favourite bit was the extra touch that Helen and Robert had done; of games, dvds, books left neatly for tenants to help themselves to during their stay. The hosts were quick to help, they even kindly suggested some good tourist attractions that we could visit. I think when you travel with your husband and baby, you want privacy, ample space, and be able to self facilitate.... all provided in this home, rather then a hotel setting where you constantly feel you are stepping on each other with the lack of space. I would definitely recommend to anyone. X

Our three bedroom home is nestled in the heart of the historic Suffolk market town of Beccles, which sits on the beautiful River Waveney. The house is Grade II listed so you’ll spot lots of old and quirky features throughout. The original part of the house was built in the 1700s, complete with large inglenook fireplace, and it has a modern renovation at the back with a light and spacious kitchen diner.
The house has three bedrooms: two doubles and one single room which also has a cot in it. There's a bathroom upstairs as well as a WC and shower room downstairs. In our living room, there's a wood-burning stove which you’re welcome to use in the winter months. This heats the house very effectively, but there’s also modern gas central heating throughout. There is a playroom on the ground floor which also has a sofa-bed in it. The house has a small enclosed garden at the back, complete with a wendy house and sandpit. Our home would be well suited to two couples or a family. As the house is so old, please note the stairs are narrow, uneven and quite steep, so not really suitable for people with mobility issues, or for very elderly people. There are stairgates and handrails fitted at the top and bottom of the main staircase.
Beccles sits on the border between Norfolk and Suffolk, although the town itself is in Suffolk. The river Waveney is a beautiful water-way which connects to the Broads. Beccles has lots going on. Plenty of independent shops, restaurants and bars. There’s a weekly market in Market Place every Friday and if you like vintage and bric-a-brac you’ll be spoilt for choice as there are several excellent vintage, antique and second-hand shops.
  • Fantastic home in a lovely location. Very tidy house and extremely presentable. We would happily return.

Quiet former maid's room at the top of a Victorian family house, now refurbished with en suite toilet and separate shower and redecorated with butterfly wallpaper. TV, radio, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, small fridge, wifi. £5.50 breakfast charge p/person/£3.50 continental breakfast.
The cosiness of a period attic room - separate and private, self-contained. Please note that the staircase up to the attic is fairly narrow, so not suitable for the elderly, infirm, or those with heavy luggage. The futon bed is fairly low, but with a 'memory foam' mattress-topper to make it more comfortable. Most guests report a good night's sleep.
Beccles is a historic market town on the river Waveney, approx. 10 miles from the sea and within easy reach of Norwich (19 miles) and Southwold (12 miles). The Norfolk Broads are about an hour away and the royal residence of Sandringham is an hour and a half's drive. RSPB reserve at Minsmere is 18 miles away, and Snape Malting Concert Hall 25 miles. The town's motto is 'Small Town, Big Heart' , offering all the usual amenities: a range of restaurants from pizza-parlours to fine dining. The 16th Century coaching inn at its centre is now a Wetherspoons. There is a Tesco and a Morrisons as well as several small shops/boutiques. There is an 18th C theatre and an open-air Lido in the summer months.

Thank you for a pleasant stay Sally.

  • Lovely room in the active, beautifully decorated and stylish. Had everything there that you would want. Sally was warm and friendly and great company to chat to over breakfast. Would highly recommend it.

  • I came to Beccles for a night to attend a wedding nearby. Sally was a wonderful host - she came to pick me up from the station and settled me in her beautiful en suite attic room, complete with tea, coffee, private shower and a big comfortable bed. The next morning I had a good breakfast of stewed rhubarb that her husband had made from their own allotment supply. A great stay!

    Hazel2014-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sally and Chris were very welcome and we wouldn't hesitate to stay with them again or recommend them. The house is beautiful and the Butterfly Boudoir very comfortable and also easy to find with good parking. Everything was catered for and we appreciated their hospitality.

    Anne2017-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sally gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. We were able to park on the road nearby for free. The room is a private space at the top of the house with views across the neighbourhood. It is spacious and comfortable with an en-suite loo and sink plus a good shower just outside the door on the landing, screened from the rest of the house further downstairs. There is good tea and coffee-making facilities in the room and Sally kindly provided a thermos flask of fresh milk which lasted us until the morning. It was an easy 10-minute walk into Beccles for dinner at the Swan. We took the 'light' breakfast option in the morning which was excellent value at £2.50 each, including a lovely home-made fruit salad with yoghurt and cereal, coffee, toast and several different types of preserve (several home-made), honey etc. Sally is very nice, chatty and friendly and is a useful source of information on the town and area, if you need that, having lived there for more than 30 years. All-in-all excellent value for money in a central location!

My place is close to Town centre, 5 minute walk and 10 minute walk to train centre. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. There is off road parking available. It is a small terrace house, but cosy and homely, shared bathroom and downstairs toilet available.
It is a small cosy room with double bed but i try to provide all the home comforts needed and want to make your stay with me as comfortable as I can.
Small town but quite busy one, with lots of amenities, shops, pubs, restaurants etc

We are also just 20 minutes, by car, to the coast. Continental breakfast can be ordered at extra cost of £5.00 per person.

Whether long walks and historical churches are your thing, or perhaps a trip to Southwold with an ice-cream on the beach or maybe a quick swim at the Lido? • Paul and Rosie are great hosts, alongside the room being spot on they are a super friendly pair - giving us a lift to the pub, teaching us about coffee as well as helping us plan our next day of cycling with pub and route suggestions. All in all a great Airbnb experience which left us smiling. Also, Beccles is a charming town well worth a visit.

  • This is a lovely, charming place to stay in such a unique setting. The room was nice and clean. Had a great night's sleep in a comfy bed and nice linen/duvet. Had a nice healthy breakfast, if the weather was warm enough it would have been out in the courtyard. Communication was very good from placing my booking. Would definitely come back again and great value for money!

This exceptional Grade II listed early 19th Century Romanesque Palladian Villa set in extensive private parkland, woodland and formal gardens is the perfect location for a night (or nights) of total relaxation and enjoyment. The property boasts sensational original architecture, such as the double cantilever staircase with a jaw-dropping glass domed ceiling, designed by Robert Reid.
Ashman's Hall, Barsham "Having spent the best part of 10 years lovingly restoring the property from a derelict mess to my home, I'd like others to be able to share the same excitement I have walking through the front door each day. Probably one of the county’s best kept secrets - until now that is!" - Mike (Owner) Just a few minutes walk from Beccles, but standing in secluded isolation, in acres of wooded parkland is an outstanding Georgian Palladian Manor House. This is Ashman’s Hall a residence of local and national significance having a Grade II listing. It is a mansion of sheer elegance built to entertain high society, in it’s day, with it’s large well proportioned rooms and high ceilings. Built in 1820 for Robert Reid its grand entrance hall - with art deco statuettes and marble busts, unique domed ceiling and sinuous imperial staircases - is simply outstanding. During their stay guests have access to the whole mansion which includes; Library/ Morning Room, Oak Panelled Snug, Sitting Room, Dining Room, Music Room. Ashman’s sleeps up to 12 in 6 bedrooms. Two with en suite baths and two with en suite showers plus two bedrooms serviced by a large family bathroom. For a special gathering of family or friends the hall is perfect and is an ideal retreat for the first night of a couple’s marriage. For corporate use the estate’s isolation and security measures ensure privacy during sensitive negotiations or high level meetings, and offers a landing area for helicopters. Nearby Beccles Aerodrome has a CAA Ordinary Licence (Number P837) that allows flights for the public transport of passengers. The hall is available as a self catering venue. We have a list of recommended caterers and suppliers should you require them.
Ashman's Hall is located at the top of Gerald's Hill and is surrounded by the beautiful Suffolk countryside, working farms and protected nature reserves.

  • Ashmans Hall lived up to expectations, and more. A beautiful property with a real wow factor with every room that you entered. The fabulous kitchen and large lounge were ideal for our family of 8 to gather. The bedrooms were grand yet comfortable, and the bathrooms spacious and spotless. A beautifully secluded location, yet still ideal for exploring the beautiful Suffolk countryside and coast. Thanks to Michael for being a great host.

  • AMAZING! The photos do not do the place justice. Myself and 10 friends stayed at the villa over a weekend to celebrate a friends birthday. We had a murder mystery evening one night and couldn't have asked for a better setting. The property is truly stunning. One of a kind. Although it is large and very grand, I cannot tell you how warm and welcoming it is. It is fully equipped with everything you could need. Micheal and Rosie are wonderful hosts. Rosie was very helpful during the booking process and even drew me a map of the property to help me plan my murder mystery night. Micheal even made the effort to come and meet us after coming straight out of hospital. We cannot thank them enough. They are some of the best hosts we have come across since using Air BnB! Don't hesitate in booking this gem. I can promise you that you won't be disappointed!

    Michelle2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a great stay for groups. Rosie was very welcoming and took the effort to give our party of 8 an extended tour of the property. The villa is well-maintained and just as beautiful as in the pictures. The communication was great and we felt comfortable to contact our host at any time when we needed advice about our stay. We would definitely book again in the future.

    Jasmine2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for the August bank holiday. We were 3 couples, one baby and one dog. Photos really don't do the house justice. It's far bigger than what you expect. Communication with Rosie was extremely prompt. She was always willing to help. Even went to tescos for us on our first day! We had a lovely few days there and are considering booking another visit. Would recommend this place without hesitation. If you want a property with a bit of wow factor this is it!

We stayed here as it was close to a wedding we were attending, it couldn't of been more perfect for what we needed it for. Paul also left me breakfast out on the side as I had to leave at 6:30 to go and get ready which was such a thoughtful touch. I would recommend this place for anyone.

  • We had a wonderful 4 day country escape to Norfolk and Orchards Cottage was the perfect place to stay. It was warm, welcoming and extremely comfortable. Buff was easy to communicate with and met us at the cottage - there was even freshly baked bread, a cake, eggs and juice to welcome us! Very thoughtful. A great place to base yourself to explore Norfolk. The Swan in Loddon does a brilliant Sunday roast. I'd love to visit again.

  • Beautiful cottage annexed onto the main house but with total privacy and quiet. Everything you need in the house for a comfortable stay. We were given such a lovely warm welcome with special touches of fresh flowers, cake, homemade jam and freshly made bread. Set in magnificent gardens which can walk around with a large private area for guests of the cottage. Lovely places nearby to visit, unspoiled beaches and interesting towns with craft shops and art galleries. Can definitely recommend it as a place to come and stay.

    DEBBIE2013-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here for a week as I was working nearby and was very happy with the place. We were made to feel extremely welcome right from the start, house was probably nicer than the photos show and the tree house at the front of the house has to be seen to be believed. If you were looking for a quiet getaway somewhere you could do a lot worse. The selection of games and the snooker table and ping pong table in the garage were a great addition. Would definitely stay again.

  • Beautiful picturesque cottage in a great location to visit some of Norfolk's highlights. Buff is a superb host, giving a very warm welcome. Highly recommended.

  • We stayed at the Orchards Holiday Cottage over a five day period and loved everything about its location and amenities. However, both of these important aspects were eclipsed by our gracious hosts Buff and Martin. We were given a warm welcome upon our arrival which included a tour of the cottage and our hosts thoughtfully stocked the refrigerator with essentials to include milk, orange juice, eggs, and homemade chocolate cake! Buff and Martin were a delight to work with and I would highly recommend this location for a quiet and comfortable holiday. The location is well suited for travel all over East Anglia and we were always glad to return to our lodgings in the evenings. Our family would not hesitate in booking here again (and probably will!)

  • We spent a lovely WE as a family with our 2 kids in Norfolk. A very nice and warm welcome from Lizzy who has been great with the kids too. The house is amazing and all nicely setup for the guests. A shame it was too chilly to spend more time in the garden and enjoy the swimming pool, definitely worth coming back in summer! I really recommend Lizzy's house!

  • Very friendly and welcoming hosts with a lovely house!

    Deep2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We choose Airbnb for unique and memorable experiences, and Lizzy's farmhouse ticked all of the right boxes. Her broad-side home is cosy and secure with ample space for a family of four. The view from the main bedroom offers a wonderful view along the long and well-kept garden, and across the waterways and reedy marshes. An idyllic and calming scene of The Broads. Lizzy has extensive experience as a hotelier, which shines through in the presentation of her home. The house is spotless and includes all of the amenities one would find in a top hotel. The large country kitchen with island and AGA is warm and welcoming. From beginning to end, Lizzy has been a kind and generous host, making my family feel most welcome in her lovely home. Without a shadow of doubt, Lizzy's farmhouse will be our first destination when we return to the Norfolk Broads.

Set in a beautiful 5000 acre English estate, Somerleyton Hall is widely acclaimed as one of the most beautiful stately homes in Britain - and it's the home of Lord & Lady Somerleyton (aka Hugh and Lara) We can accommodate groups of up to 12, & you’ll be able to enjoy - crackling log fires, great estate pubs and beautiful gardens - getting lost in our maze - country walks around Fritton Lake and more.....
A finely preserved step-back-in time Somerleyton Hall most definitely is - and it’s also the warm, relaxing home of the Somerleyton family. With open fires, huge comfy sofas and a multitude of different spaces to enjoy and relax in, as well as the grander elements you’d expect from a stately home including a grand staircase, and even a stuffed polar bears (souvenirs of Lord Somerleyton's 1897 excursion to the Arctic), Somerleyton makes the perfect and memorable location for group mini-breaks and staycations, corporate away days, private parties and of course weddings. Somerleyton is particularly famous for the garden which is one of the most prestigious in the region. On the estate, you'll also find an enchanting village, two fantastic pubs, a shop and Fritton Lake, our luxury cabin holiday resort, which is wonderful for country walks and (in summer) watersports and outdoor activities including tree climbing, paddleboarding, mountain biking and trail running. Those brave enough can swim in the lake all year round via our Watersports centre. Somerleyton is a fully working estate, committed to the best practices of modern stewardship, land management and farming. Somerleyton has become known for cutting out links from the traditional food chain by taking a ‘farm-to-table’ approach to livestock production. Our listed historic parkland is home to Welsh Black cattle and Welsh Mountain sheep – both chosen in homage, and with sound husbandry in mind, to the Welsh roots of the Crossley-Somerleyton family. Home-harvested meats, crops, kitchen garden ingredients – and even foraged hedgerow foodstuffs – are on the menu at our two estate pubs, The Duke’s Head and Fritton Arms. And should you choose to have our staff cater for your stay, on your menu too!
On the Somerleyton estate, you'll find the hall, Fritton Lake and Fritton Retreats & The Fritton Arms pub. Plus, the nearby village of Somerleyton, which is filled distinctive and pretty thatched cottages set along leafy lanes, and a delightful village duck pond. Somerleyton village is also home to our second pub, The Duke's Head, and our village shop. This is an excellent destination for anyone wishing to explore the Norfolk Broads, it is within easy reach of the famous Suffolk coast and is ideal for birdwatching, hunts and other country and outdoor pursuits. The River Waveney flows close to the village. Nearby Norwich is a quintessentially English provincial city with good shopping and cultural activities
  • Amazing!

  • Helen and Stephen have read the BnB manual so many times they can't fail to impress. The appartment was equiped with everthing one would need to cook from a round of toast to a full meal.(Note breakfast is not provided with the appartment booking) The rooms were very comfortable and the peaceful courtyard made for a most relaxing environment. The surrounding countryside has a tranquility lost in so many parts of the UK and as cyclists we had three days of easy cycling on the flat roads. Why would you not stay here?

Broadbank is a charming period property situated on Oulton Broad. The house is light and airy where all bedrooms are facing south with views over the waterfront garden onto Oulton Broad. Features include 2 super king size bedrooms, 2 double bedrooms, conservatory, lounge, dining room, entrance hall, traditional decor, 1 toilets, 2 bathrooms, terrace, swim platform, and summer house. Dinghy and 2 stand up paddle boards
  • There were excellent notes and importantly the beds and mattresses were most comfortable.

  • The house was great and Denise was very helpful and accommodating

    Marina2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Broadbank is situated on the water of Oulton Broad, which has lovely views. We watched the powerboating and sailing races while we ate dinner. We swam in the warm water and took the boat out. The house has large rooms and is well decorated. We had a minor issue which Denise helped us sort within minutes via text message. I would recommend without hesitation. We would like to return!

    Jonathan2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful stay in a great house. The rooms were extremely comfortable and the proximity to the broad meant that we thoroughly enjoyed using the boat - the pub at Burgh St Peter up river was certainly well worth the trip. Our only caveat was that all the restaurants in Oulton Broad close early on a Sunday night even in July so that might be the evening to eat in but the kitchen in the house is well provided for just that eventuality. Denise gave us all the information and help that we needed and, as a family, we couldn't recommend Broadbank more highly.

    Francis2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home, stunning location, friendly host Denise was friendly and helpful and though not present, her instructions about obtaining the key and using things were clear and useful. She was always at the end of the phone and she and her husband were unfazed when the washing machine stopped working (it restarted later!). We had a wonderful time in her bright, lovely house which is tasteful with lots of character and space. A nice big dining room, generous living room with Apple TV, conservatory at the back. Our boys took the two bedrooms on the top second floor and liked the idea they had their own den at the top of the house with TV and DVD. But the most wonderful thing is the location. At the bottom of the huge garden is Oulton Broad itself, a stunning inland lake that adjoins Lowestoft Harbour. It’s very relaxing sitting at the bottom of the long, lovely garden listening to the waves and watching the sailboats. There’s your own landing and dinghy with motor if you fancy a spin around the harbour - great fun. We took it about an hour upstream to the village of Burgh which has moorings and a very agreeable pub overlooking the water. We also tried the paddle boards (and fell in). It’s not far to shops. The sandy beaches of Lowestoft are near and there’s plenty to do a little further afield, such as the old town of Beccles which has plenty of character and a large heated outdoor pool. Overall, a wonderful place for a family holiday and I would thoroughly recommend it. It made us want to move there!

Set in Waveney Valley , 5 mins from Beccles, surrounded by beautiful countryside and open farmland, at the top of our smallholding. Wake up to bird song and the owl hunting for food in the garden, perfect base for coast and countryside.
  • We had a lovely stay at the Straw Chalet. We were warmly welcomed and presented with some fresh plums which was nice. Martyn was friendly and helpful throughout our stay and let our dog run around the farm which was nice. It is very close to town where you can buy food and only a short drive to the beach and nature walks.

    Xandra2016-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • If you liked watching Wild at Heart on TV this is the place for you. :-) Its peaceful, in the countryside but without the dangerous animals! We enjoyed a cosy fire outside the lodge during the evening all included in the price. We didn't use the inside wood burner as it was July. The chalet has plenty of books and games and a DAB radio along with the Fridge, combi microwave, hob, crockery etc. We bought our own food and drink and just settled in for afternoon, evening and morning - it was heavenly.

    Rob2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a charming little place, perfect for a cosy country get away. Martin and Lil were perfect hosts and we were made to feel very welcome. We will definitely be back.

    Frances2017-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very qwerky and rustic chalet. Martin was very helpful and friendly. The chalet is set away from their property so it is lovely and private. We walked in to beccles where there are some nice pubs and restaurants. We also visited Lowestoft beach which is a 25 min drive away and great for the dog.

    Tash2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • The straw chalet is beautiful! We stayed on a chilly spring night and we were so cosy and comfortable inside, especially seen as Martyn had lit the fire for us. It's so quiet and peaceful and in a lovely setting. Thank you very much, a perfect little get away!

    Abee2017-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived in wet and windy weather and instantly felt at home in the cosy warm cottage. As others have mentioned it is rustic, but all the better for it! We both slept really well in the lovely comfy bed and the wood burner kept us toasty warm. We would love to come back again, as our time there helped us chill so much.

    Fay2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful stay at this lovely chalet. It was just as described and felt very peaceful and secluded - a real escape. Lil and Martyn were great and the eggs from their hens were delicious! A really lovely week.

    Emma2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great place to unwind and relax. Would benefit from own access when you have dogs. Woodburner was more than adequate to heat the whole place. Loved the outside space.

Located in the heart of the glorious Waveney Valley, this beautiful yurt offers the pleasure of living 'under canvas' while being a stones-throw from your own super-modern annexe. This is not a camping site or a 'communal yurt park' so you have your own exclusive space. With really comfy beds, chargers & effective heating, enjoy the best of both worlds. Set in 40 acres of private farmland & award-winning walks along the Angles Way, this really is the ultimate 'getaway' from the city.
The farm is a hobby farm meaning we have no traditional farm animals. Just some lovely rescue chickens, two cats, a very important pug, four goats and some beautiful horses for you to commune with should you so wish. If you wish to book a private yoga session or a fabulous massage... all on your doorstep!
  • Fantastic setting lovely and peaceful Celeste was a great host nothing was too much trouble would definately stay again!

    Miles2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely and comfortable stay at the farm and in the yurt. Celeste was the perfect host and ensured we were comfortable. The yurt was very cozy and perfectly warm and the annexe had everything we needed! Thank you again for a pleasant stay.

  • Had a wonderful adventure with my six year old son. We go on adventures and try to find things that are different and this was perfect for us. Such a cool place to stay...very fun. Celeste was a brilliant host and went that extra mile to accommodate us. My son loved and will always remember the homemade cookies on arrival. It's gestures like this that add class to your stay. Thanks again and ps the animals were great!!! I can safely say that I am now a goat lover! See you again. Nathan and sebastien.

  • This place is perfect for a weekend getaway. Only slightly over 2 hours away from London, it is well located a couple of minutes drive from the town of Beccles and Bungay and in a lovely, spacious and quiet farm. Celeste and Sergei are very friendly and excellent hosts, always stopping to have a friendly chat and ensuring that all of our needs were catered for. The Yurt and the Annexe is very clean, comfortable and cosy and the grounds are well lit at night so you don't have to fumble about in the dark! Check-in was also a breeze eventhough we arrived quite late (10.30pm) from London, Sergei was on hand to welcome us with a chirpy smile. I highly recommend this place! P.S. If you love animals, you are going to be in for a special treat...

    Colin2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous and fun retreat in beautiful Suffolk. Celeste's place is welcoming, clean and the yurt is situated in fields with a number of horses close by. The annex is well equipped and means you can still have all the creature comforts you may need. The incredibly inquisitive and friendly hens are a delight, as are the rather cute baby goats! Celeste is friendly and welcoming and happy to answer any questions. I will be going back with family.

    Kate2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic stay! Celeste was the perfect host. Space was traditional and homely but with all the modern luxuries you'd want (fantastic shower etc.). We loved the animals (especially Duster the chicken) & chilling out by the campfire. We will definitely be back and hopefully for longer next time. Definitely recommend! Five stars. Thank you! xxx

  • A beautiful place to get away. In the middle of Beccles and Bungay, 2 beautiful small towns. We hired a boat for the day from Beccles and drove to the coast one day. The yurt was done beautifully and very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinner. The bottle of wine in the fridge and breakfast bits were a very nice touch. We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.

    Laura2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay in the Yurt and annexe. Our young daughters loved the quirkiness of staying in a Yurt and meeting all the animals milling around. It was all exactly as described online and the beds were very comfortable. Celeste was a great host. We hope to return and stay a bit longer next time.

A completely private self contained barn with separate summerhouse for your sole use in the orchard. Huge 7'x7' bed, ensuite with roll top bath, glass shower and 2 sinks. Sofa area. Uninterrupted panoramic views of stunning farmland.
  • Karen's stunning barn is positively jaw dropping, and we just couldn't believe our luck at stumbling across such a beautiful and luxuriously appointed rural haven. It is completely private, with windows looking out onto endless fields. The bed was the comfiest I've ever slept in and decadently huge, and the bathroom is so chic it's like being in a five star hotel. The sofas have made me question the ones I have at home, they were so plush! Karen is the most welcoming host. As a guest of the barn you also have use of the summer house in the garden, which has a stereo and lovely furniture, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Karen was fine with us using disposable BBQs in a corner nearby, on which we cooked some delicious sausages bought that day in Walberswick, along with steaks, which we then ate in our room as the sun set with plates and cutlery kindly supplied. I have food allergies and Karen had thoughtfully left wheat and dairy free treats for us, along with stocking the fridge with my special lactofree milk. On our arrival she supplied us with a menu for breakfast for us to say if there was anything we didn't want (The list was epic. We were such pigs there weren't many things we didn't want!). The next morning we were treated to the most delicious breakfast in Karen's kitchen in her converted barn across the way. She had prepared a beautifully laid long table, set with a red chequered table cloth, candles flickering in antique candelabras. There was delicious prepared fruit and (dairy free specially for me!) yoghurt, which we ate whilst Karen finished cooking an epic full english, consisting of quality local produce, which was so exquisitely presented I had to do that daggy thing of photographing it before I tucked in! She'd even sourced me some wheat free crumpets which were toasted to perfection on her AGA. We really didn't want to leave, and would go back in a heart beat. If you find yourself that way I cannot recommend Karen's barn highly enough - there really aren't enough superlatives to convey how scrumptious it is. Ha, and if you're not planning on being out that way, you really should consider a little holiday in Beccles. But Shhhh, don't tell everyone or it will be booked up when I make my return! Karen really is the hostess with the mostess... This is Five Star AirBnB.

    Lorna2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Finding Karen's beautiful barn, made me remember why I love air b'n'b so much. The personal touches were so beautiful and considerate.. things you just don't get from staying in a hotel! When we arrived at 11pm on a Friday night, there were snacks and a bottle of wine chilled in the fridge - exactly what we needed after a long drive!! ;) We then rested our heads in the biggest most comfiest bed i have ever slept in; and was woken up to a delicious full English breakfast in Karen's home - the barn next door, with farm eggs and local organic produce :) We got to know Karens dog well (she only lets him out if guests are comfortable), and when we went on our country walk in the surrounding fields he tagged along - the perfect accompaniment to a country weekend ;) After spending the day out we came home to more treats - afternoon fairy cakes :)) yum! We were going to a party that night nearby and knew we would probably be a bit weary eyed for breakfast the next day, but that was no problem for Karen, and instead she left us a delicious breakfast picnic of fresh bread, condiments, hams and cheese, yoghurt and fresh fruit to have in our own leisurely time.... and that was the icing on the cake - Karen said we could check out anytime we liked!!! So Sunday was not in a rush, wolfing breakfast down.. but spent overlooking the beautiful corn fields from bed, fresh croissant and coffee in hand :))) I highly recommend a trip to the Suffolk countryside, and a stay here. Thank you Karen for your beautiful hospitality :) you made us feel so welcome.

    Suzy2015-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • An all-too brief stay at the sumptuous barn in Suffolk. Karen made us feel incredibly welcome, showing us around her farm and the barn. Recently renovated and decorated with really good taste, the room has THE best bed, great amenities and an amazing view out on to the countryside. The stay was made that much better with a delicious breakfast cooked breakfast that set us up nicely for the day. We'll definitely be back.

  • Well where do I start?! The host Karen and her beautiful barn were perfect from start to finish and went above and beyond any of my expectations! A true genuine person which is rare to find and Karen made everybit of our stay memorable!!! We didn't ever want to leave!! The barn was picture perfect and Karen has done this beautifully with her interior design skills! All I can say is if you want a break to never forget stay here!! I know I will be going back and have told everyone to go!!! Thank you for making our weekend!!! Just perfect!!!!!!!! ***********5 star accomadation*********

  • Harriet was a absolutely delightful host and her home is really beautiful. Upon arrival she showed us around the property. There are a few lovely area to sit out in the garden and read, write, or just enjoy the sun. Horses roaming in the field and chickens in the garden. There's even a trampoline which our little boy loved! Secluded but so close to great pubs and tons to see and do. The pavilion is off separate from the house with its own full kitchen, lounge, bathroom, very spacious bedroom with an additional sitting area. She left us lots of lovely goodies for breakfast; eggs from her chickens, fresh bread, bacon, natural yogurt, and muesli. It was a great place to spend the weekend and we will definitely be back.

Betsey Trotwood is a beautiful renovated stable at The Rookery at Blunderston and it was visited by Charles Dickens and featured in his favourite book David Copperfield. The cottage successfully combines period features and contemporary luxury to create a stylish holiday with private courtyard. The spacious kitchen dining room is on the ground floor and opens into the living room, the ground floor boasts under floor heating. There are also double doors with access to a private secluded patio. On the first floor you will find the luxurious master bedroom with a king size bed and a claw footbath, there is also a modern shower room next door. Also on the first floor you will find a spacious single room which also has a pull out bed to make it into a twin. Throughout the property you will see unique woodwork, these are complimented by bespoke doors made from reclaimed local joists.
"What a gorgeous place! We have really enjoyed our stay at Betsey Trotwood - we don't want to go. Thank you for all the recommendations, we have explored the area and discovered some beautiful places and enjoyed some delicious food. We are already planning our next trip"
With The Rookery featuring in the beginning of Dickens’ favourite book, Betsey is an ideal base for a regional tour of Dickensian History through Blundeston, Somerleyton, and Great Yarmouth. Step back into British history with a visit to the Somerleyton Estate just two minutes away; set in 5000 acres, Somerleyton Hall is widely acclaimed as one of the most beautiful stately homes in Britain and is open to the public every April to September. There’s plenty of walks within easy reach, as well as a short one to the village pub. Nearby Lound Lakes is a nature reserve worth a visit to potentially kingfisher, osprey and bittern (when they’re visiting!). Woodland trails at Herringfleet, Corton or Fritton. Beaches at Gorleston, Corton, and Lowestoft are within 10 minutes, or wander from the property down to the Halvergate Marshes and through to Somerleyton and make a day of it, with or without your dog. Not only is it charming, but Blundeston is a very central village for visiting the Norfolk and Suffolk Coasts and Oulton Broad, the most southern area of open water in the Broads system where there are a range of lovely restaurants and pubs. There is a warm and friendly village pub, The Plough, just 500m away, where you can taste good home cooked food and local ales. Neighbouring Lound and Somerleyton both have good gastro pubs. Hopton nearby includes leisure resorts and amusement complexes, notably Potters Resort home of World Championship Bowls. Lowestoft, Gorleston and Great Yarmouth are a short drive, and offer everything from sedate museums to the exciting Pleasure Beach, Africa Alive and Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park. Add to that within in little over 30 minutes are Southwold and the Heritage Suffolk Coast or the fine city of Norwich and North Norfolk beyond.

New to Airbnb in spring '16. This cottage was our family holiday home, until we moved to the area permanently. The cottage has been tastefully renovated and is extremely well equipped. There is a large attractive enclosed garden. Ideal location.
Weekly bookings only. Friday-Friday. Great location for beautiful countryside, great beaches, the broads, Southwold, Lowestoft, Somerleyton, Norwich, country pubs.
Lound is a pretty village surrounded by beautiful countryside on the border of Suffolk and Norfolk. Good walking country with plenty of footpaths. Ideal centre for discovering the coast (Hopton, Gorleston, Corton are very close; Southwold, Aldeburgh, Wells and Holkham are all easy day trips). Norfolk broads are very close, with day boat hire available. Good fishing. Norwich half an hour away if you yearn for bright lights and shopping.
  • Our host made us feel very welcome and we couldn't have asked for more. The cottage is lovely, very cosy and just what we hoped for. An excellent location for visiting local beaches and other sights in the area.
