Mountain lodge is the place to escape the distractions in everyday life. Surround yourself in luxury whilst soaking up in the sauna or relaxing in the private hot tub after an adventure in the hills! whether you'r hiking, biking or driving there's plenty to keep you occupied throughout your stay.
Set your sights on the mountains by exploring through our walkers path or take a drive to Pen Y Fan in the Brecon Beacons for a more challenging adventure, it's just under an hours drive to get your hike on in the highest peak in south wales. Don't forget to visit Outdoor matters whilst your down that way if you see yourself as a bit of a rock climber. Dan Yr Ogof National Showcaves centre of wales is just 25 minutes drive from the lodge, perfect day out with the children. Also don't forget there's Mumbles & Aberavon to visit for a beautiful walk along the beach front.
We are hidden away on the mountain, you will need to gain access to the property through a stone quarry. Don't panic it's only 30 seconds down a short hill until your on our gravel road :)
  • Fantastic accommodation with amazing views of the Valleys! Would highly recommend this lodge for either a couples romantic retreat or a family trip. The hot tub and log fire was a very nice touch! The layout of the lodge was very spacious, beautifully decorated and had all the mod-cons. We will definitely be coming back!

  • Had a lovely stay in Pontadawe , really nice hosts. Everything was pristine. The hot tub was a gorgeous way to end the evening. A perfect stay to unwind and relax.

  • Great place

    Nathan2017-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is lovely. Secluded and rural yet clean and modern. The sauna and hot tub are added bonuses and perfect after a day of walking. Although you are on their farm they have thought about making it private and you feel like you have your own space and are not overlooked. You definitely need a car (although we did walk to Pontardawe one day) but that's all made clear in the property description. June was really friendly, got back to us straight away with any enquires both before and during the stay but otherwise just let us enjoy our stay! Would definitely recommend a visit!

    Katie2017-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay for a secluded retreat or couples get away.

    Alex2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place if you are seeking peace and relaxation. The Sauna and Hot Tub are excellent and the accommodation has everything you need. June is lovely, very helpful and on hand if you have any questions.

  • Lovely flat to stay in. Nice and peaceful for a good nights sleep. Would recommend staying here and would stay again!

  • Really lovely bright apartment, photos do not do it justice. Has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Very clean and homely feeling. Would certainly stay in again!

    Dhanraj2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay. Apartment much larger than the photos would suggest. Very well furnished and has everything you need for a short stay.

  • Clean, spacious and comfortable. Highly recommended

  • Very clean, very private and convenient for thew western Brecons and the Gower.

    Rob2017-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very spacious and comfortable house. Totally enjoyed our stay here. Thanks Catherine and Clive.

    Shruthi2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Clive was very kindly able to cater a late check in and check out and gave us a very warm welcome upon arrival. The annex is private and roomy. It was clean and the lounge was well furnished. I would definitely chose to stay here again and was gutted I didn't book for longer. It was great value for money.

    Jayne2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was perfect, we were welcomed by Clive who showed us around (the apartment is a lot brighter and bigger than the pictures suggest) and made himself available if we needed him. The apartment is above the garage in the rear garden, there is a park just a 2 minute walk away which was perfect as we took our dog. As others have said, Tesco and other stores are only a short walk or drive away. The apartment is well situated away from the road (which isn't very busy anyway) and we had enough space to park. We ventured to the coast and to Brecon, both only an hour or so away, so ideally located for us. The apartment has everything you need, the hosts even provided coffee, tea and milk (and some sweets!). We would happily revisit and would recommend as it suited our requirements.

My cottage is a true character build. It is approximately 400 years old give or take a few years. It is steeped in old world charm, you will not be disappointed with your stay. You will enjoy the comfort of a large double bedroom with stone walls and old wooden floor. Downstairs you will also have the comfort of a private living room where you can relax in front of a warm log fire.
My cottage is beautiful. If you want to stay somewhere different and cosy this is the place. Visitors have told me as they walk through the door they immediately start to relax. It's a place that modern life has left behind, if you want hustle and bustle then my home definitely doesn't fit the bill it is far too laid back for that!
Llandybie is one of the largest Villages in Wales and there are several shops within Llandybie. There is a co op just seconds from my cottage. I am situated on the square in Llandybie and have outside parking available. The cottage is in the perfect location, Llandeilo town is only 5 Miles away and Ammanford is 2. 5 Miles it is in a very central location for travel. There is plenty to see within this location such as castles, country parks ect . Dinefwr Park in Llandeilo is beatiful and Carreg Cennen is well worth a visit. I am so close to the Brecon Beacons I can almost smell the mountain air!
  • Elaine's place is quaint, comfortable and unique. She and her Mum were very friendly, kind and hospitable, making me feel very welcome. Elaine even offered to give me lifts to and from the party I was going to, which was a few miles away. She even gave me a key so I could get back into the house later without disturbing her. I spent a very cosy night in Elaine's house. It felt like a home from home. She also has a fabulous dog! Thank you Elaine.

    Janet2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine is a great host. Her home is a lovely restored listed house. Comfortable bedroom. Relax in the rocking chair in the cosy little lounge in the evening. Located near the hub of the village, but very quiet at night for a good nights sleep!

    Paul2017-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely character cottage, located close to shops and pubs. excellent base if fishing Llandeilo area. Host, Elaine very helpful, nothing too much trouble. Thoroughly recommended.

    Keith2017-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine was a great host and provided everything I needed. The cottage was beautiful. It was ideal.

    Iola2017-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was all in effect one booking with Elaine but I cannot miss another chance to say what a fantastic stay I had. The place is wonderful, unbelievable value, with a super friendly host, family and Blue the dog. Also I slept in the most comfortable bed ever. It is a Victorian iron bedstead with a new slats and memory foam mattress. Renovated and rebuilt by the Queen of DIY, Elaine. It is typical of the whole house, most of the work having been done by her. And generosity and the milk of human kindness flows deep in this house. You will be met with a Tsunami of tea, food and laughter! (If you can get Jake out of the way long enough to approach the food...!) And all this with Elaine's other relatives away on holiday! I have to go back...

    Adrian2017-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • A really nice cottage full of character. Elaine is very friendly and helpful. There is a pub serving good food just up the road. I enjoyed my stay very much.

Andy and John welcome you to our home, a former dairy, Carreg Yr Ogof (which means Stone Cave) and 'The Cobblers Cottage' (your accommodation) which dates back 300 years, a stone built annex attached to our cottage on the edge of the lovely Brecon Beacons in Llandyfan. The traditional, cosy, Welsh cottage has a lockable connecting door and a separate private outside entrance. We welcome guests of all backgrounds and well behaved dogs.
We offer clean and comfortable accommodation comprising of a standard double bed with bedside tables and individual reading lights, seating area, TV with DVD player, log burner (logs supplied), WIFI, and a small hanging space for clothes. Slippers are provided for guests as there is a stone floor. The kitchen/dining area contains a small dining table and chairs, fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, kettle and complimentary hospitality tray. All utensils are provided. Guests can also enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast consisting of cereals, bread, butter, jams, milk, orange juice, local spring water and a fruit basket. Bathroom consists of a rain shower, sink and toilet (no bathtub). Fresh towels are provided. Guests should note that the property is not suitable for wheelchair access as there are some steps and the general area is hilly. Mobile phone reception is very poor, however there is wifi available.
Llandyfan (pronounced Llandyvan) is a small quiet village that derives its name from a saint of the name 'Dyvan' who came to Wales from Rome about the year 180. Carreg Yr Ogof is next to the small Church and Holy Well. The house is approx. 3 miles from Carreg Cennen Castle which sits high above the river Cennen. Other local amenities include a traditional pub that serves home cooked food about 2 miles away, fishing, golf course, cycling, walking and two equestrian centres. The whole area is designated a 'dark skies area' and has recently been listed as the best place in the UK to observe the night sky.

Down a country lane sits a 150+ year old cottage restored by myself since 2013. Placed at the foot of the Black Mountains and Brecon National Park, wonderful views of mountains and countryside from the back garden. Close to the market town Ammanford, Llanelli and Swansea. Traditional cottage with beams, interior stone walls and fire place. Bedroom includes king-size memory foam mattress, wardrobe and drawers. Ideal for hikers, site-seeing, get aways to the countryside. LGBTQ friendly.
My cottage is one room wide, with windows to the front and rear. Rear views to garden and mountains / village of Garnant in the distance. Pet on property is only one cat
I live in Tir-Syr-Walter which is a small collection of houses and cottages on a country lane as part of Garnant in Carmarthenshire. A peaceful, rural location in the Welsh countryside
  • Excellent first Airbnb experience at Woodland Castle! The cottage is lovely; spotless and tastefully decorated with great attention to detail. Alex is a great host, who made us feel at home right away. Couldn't have asked for more.

    Susana2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • For our stay in the Brecon-Beacons the accommodation was very good placed! It is a bit outside of the next village, but we love such remote places. Alex was a wonderful host, and the communication was perfect :-) He also fulfilled some personal wishes we had regarding food and had some local insider information for dining! We couldn't have it any better at his house and we're really sad to leave this cozy and always clean house in the hills!

    Jonas2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Alex took me in at almost literally the eleventh hour and couldn't have been more accommodating. His place is beautifully done up and recently so, the fantastic shower was particularly welcome after a long bike ride. Down a remote country lane, it has stunning views over the Afan valley. Highly recommended.

    Max2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Alex is a thoughtful and engaging host, with life and business tales to match + good taste in planning space, light and colour at Woodland Castle. The bedroom is artistic & like being in a high-end boutique-hotel, with a very comfortable bed too. No risk of insomnia here! And a tasteful large shower-room and a spacious equipped kitchen if cooking is your thing. And sitting-room deep seating - that needs a bottle of something handy - induces relaxation and then sleep! An ideal location for exploring actively the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains, but close to Swansea and the Gower Peninsula too. Personally, though, this feels a great hideaway for battery recharging and mind-relaxing. Feels like it's cool in the summer and cosy in the winter: just the ticket. And Cody (an affectionate cat with amazing eyes) is friendly – he keeps himself to himself but is keen to inspect new guests …

    Jeffrey2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely room in a wonderful cottage in the Brecon, within easy distance of restaurants and the Brecon Beacons for hiking. Alex was a great host, and very helpful in accommodating our schedule. Definitely somewhere we would stay again!

Traditional stone built Cottage set in a Stable/Barn building, fronted by a courtyard with rear patio and garden overlooking gardens and meadows.
Private rear patio garden area with adjoining tennis court. Secure gated access with private secure parking.
Cottage set in grounds of a larger property where the hosts live. Set in rural area surrounded by farmland. with the village of Llandybie located 1 mile to the north. With the town of Ammanford 1 mile to the south. Good shopping available in both Ammanford and Llandybie.
  • Arriving late on Friday night following a long and stressful journey we were given an extremely warm welcome, Alan coming to find us when we turned down the wrong lane just up the road from the cottage. He was then kind enough to come with me to find my brother who I had meant to be picking up from Neath station 2 hours earlier. The cottage is lovely with plenty of space around it and everything you will need for your stay. And if you've forgotten an important ingredient, Angela will be on hand to help! It is located just on the edge of Llandybie, very close to the Brecon National Park, so feels very rural. It is, however, easy to walk into town and we felt very welcome when we decided to walk down to watch the local rugby club. Likewise when we came back via The Ivy Bush. Alan & Angela are wonderful hosts and we look forward to returning in the future.

  • What a lovely cottage and such a warm welcome! We had an absolutely amazing weekend with you. Absolutely beautiful part of the world!

    Lisa2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Truly wonderful property and hosts, Alan and Angela made us feel feel comfortable and welcome from the moment we parked up (Angela's home made Bara Brith is worth going there for alone!). The property was absolutely perfect to relax in, the layout is fantastic and feels much more like a real home than a holiday property (it seems clear that the hosts have actually spent time living in the cottage as the layout and provisions are far better than the vast majority of holiday cottages we have stayed in)- there are a lot of great things to say about the cottage, more than words here permit, so to highlight a few: Beautifully presented throughout, Lovely open fire, great big range cooker and well provisioned kitchen, lovely personal touches throughout and lots of personal outside space in beautiful grounds, I think that practically every need was catered for. The location is perfect for exploring the area - you can easily get to the Gower, Brecon Beacons, Carmarthen, Pembrokeshire and all the towns, sites and attractions they offer... not that we needed to really, we live relatively locally and were just there to relax and get away from the rat race - but if you are looking to explore the region, then this is the place for you. We really can't speak more highly of the cottage and our hosts... everything was perfect and we are looking forward to visiting again. Thank you Alan and Angela!

    Mike2016-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at The Cottage over the August bank holiday weekend and enjoyed some amazing weather. We were initially met and had a tour of the cottage before we were left to ourselves. There was a lovely welcome gift of bread, milk, cheese and cake. Much appreciated after a long drive to get there! The property and grounds were lovely, everything was clean and just a pleasure to stay. Plenty of local shops, pubs and restaurants within walking distance too. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit South Wales.

  • A cosy cottage in very peaceful surroundings. Comfy beds, a log fire and all the provisions needed for self-catering. Eggs, milk, bread and bara brith on arrival - lovely. Great to meet Angela, Alan and Hugh! We sat out in the huge garden.

  • Thank you for making a business trip seem like a vacation for both me and my husband and our two dogs. The cabin is located in a great spot, not only to get to and fro places of interest but also to easily walk the dogs. Even though Simon was not able to be there, he made an extra effort to make us feel so welcome, with an added bonus of a bottle wine and other goodies. Thank you again Simon. We for sure will be visiting again.

  • Great but a bit small

  • The suite was great, our own space. Paul and Jacki saved us from a failed booking, and we are so greatful. Their home is amazing with beautiful views. So quiet here. Recommended.

    Dave2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • The annex is small (not suitable for those with lots of luggage or who want to hang up clothes) but private with a good ensuite bathroom. The bed is comfortable with decent bedding. The house is reached by driving midway up a narrow track, which means you have good views from the terrace in front of the room. There is Wifi available, albeit with relatively poor speeds, and plenty of plug sockets in the room. Toiletries and towels were provided. Not suitable if you have a dog hair allergy, as the friendly dog had been in the room before we arrived.

  • Robin has a beautiful house, perfect for visiting South Wales. Fantastic gentleman providing us accommodation at a such short notice. Welcomed us upon arrival and showed us around the house. Very spacious, clean, tidy and very suitable for young children. Robin also provided local area information and has some great OS maps for hikes and places to visit. Highly recommended, I will definitely be interested in staying at this property when I return again in the future.

    Charlie2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was very good and the location was great for access to both Pembroke coast and Brecon Beacons. Black mountain road is a short drive away. Area is quiet despite being on a main road. Property looks recently refurbished with plenty of living space and kitchen facilities were perfect for making meals. We did not meet Robin but he made arrangements as expected. Wifi worked ok. Only minor issues were: Tele only had internet TV which was difficult to work out and play (despite being tech savvy) perhaps due to internet being a tad slow but this was not an issue as we were mostly out and about. I just played stuff on a tablet via Wifi for the child in the evenings. As with another review, cupboard space for hanging clothes maybe an issue for longer stays as most of storage had things in them, not an issue for us as we were there for only 3 nights. Bedding was provided in the 3 bedrooms and was comfortable. Good powerful shower with plenty of hotwater and a second toilet/basin downstairs. There is a 4th guest bed in the living space downstairs if needed. There are some small shops nearby and a big Tesco in Ammanford 3 miles down the road. All in all I would thoroughly recommend it.

  • Robin was friendly and very helpful on check in. He showed us some maps and pointed us in the direction of local sights. The house was quiet and well equipped and cleaned to a good standard. We visited the Gower and the Brecon Beacons - Robin's house is ideally situated between both.

  • Robin's place was ideal as a base for exploring the local area. It was comfortable and well equipped a d we loved having the log burner in the evening once the kids were in bed! We would recommend!

  • He let us use the house even we didn't met him. Really kind! It's a beautiful large house with everything you need and the communication with robin wasn't a problem at all. A quiet neighbourhood, on the positive side for us.

Highly recommended. It was better than we expected. Thank you Dino and all the House Hosts. Bless you and hope to be back again.

  • It was certainly very novel to stay inside a listed mansion in Wales! The house hosts were friendly and gave us lots of information about the area and the history of the mansion. When we needed extra utensils to cook with, these were quickly provided. The mansion is of course very old and has some quirks but provided a good base for seeing the area for a couple of nights. We're interested to see how the restoration proceeds!

    Philip2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a steal. The house is beautiful and has a lot of personality, with a very friendly housekeeper and owner and a lot of history. The rooms are spacious and beautiful and the grounds are definitely worth a stroll. It's near enough to the Brecon Beacons that you can take day trips in, and one of the most beautiful ruined castles is within sight of the mansion. Totally worth it.

    Michael Townsen2017-07-26T00:00:00Z

There are 2 pubs one only a short step away both serving excellent food ,the nearer Farmers Arms a more traditional pub offers a very warm welcome . The accommodation is everything shown and more, very warm and comfortable with tea, coffee and sugar supplied also milk biscuits and Welsh Cakes .The hosts went the extra mile to be helpful to us offering advice and help when it was asked for. It made our visit to Wales to meet family for a War Memorial Dedication even better knowing we had a lovely property to return to with considerate hosts.

  • Stayed here for 2 nights over the bank holiday weekend, Ian was very friendly (didn't see much of Maretta, but I assume she was just as nice!) Very cute little lodge easy to get to and local to Gower+Brecon Beacons which is why we chose it! The apartment was very clean, freeview TV, massive fridge and oven, microwave, washing machine and kettle, walk in shower, not a thing I would have changed and would've probably stayed longer if we had had the chance! Local area was very nice, Tescos, Lidl, few Pubs and takeaways. I'd recommend this to Anyone as we had a lovely experience, perfect for couples and families

    Jack2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Ian was very welcoming and helpful, and the lodge was just as we'd expected - very comfortable and spotless. Loved the homely decor and the light and airy rooms. Good pub food and takeaways within a few minutes' drive. If you're looking for a quiet location within reasonable driving distance of the national park, this is a perfect place to stay.

  • Very clean and tidy space with everything you need for a short stay. Quiet and well placed location. We enjoyed staying there. Thank you to the hosts!

  • Excellent accommodation with everything you could need. I was there working but it makes a great base for a holiday too as it's close to Swansea, Llanelli and Llandeilo. Ian and Marette were great hosts, nothing was too much trouble and The Lodge was spotlessly clean.

    Sian2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Both the hosts and the accommodation were lovely. In a great location that enabled us easy access to the Brecon Beacons and other locations. Hosts warm and welcoming with great tips on where to go and always available for help if you have any problems. Accommodation had everything we needed, bed is a double which is on the small side for my partner who is 6"6 but we slept well, wifi connection is a bit hit and miss, but not a problem if this is not a necessity. Kitchen very well equipped, including an oven and washing machine. Overall very comfortable accommodation, feels secure tucked back off the road with nice touches including biscuits and milk!

    Madeleine2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and super tidy place we found it extremely relaxing and peaceful. Ian was really helpful whenever we needed anything, I can't recommend staying at their house enough. It is very close to the mountain and Swansea for those exploring. I had a course at the BMW off-road skills centre and that was only 20mim drive which worked brilliantly.

The place is well located so within a few minutes drive you could find places to eat, grocery stores and you could find walking paths from right out the door. with all that, the place was very quit. We had a great time with a family of five.

The grounds were lovely the girls really enjoyed the feed left to fatten up the sheep, and we used the cottage as base to good effect. Gerrard was exceptionally welcoming and we really think this is a super stay for anyone considering the area. Thank you Gerrard and god bless.

And Gerard makes the difference. Communication was excellent from the very beginning and he is very welcoming. We were given a tour around the house and the surrounding land, explaining everything in detail. Gerard also gave us a lots of tips about the area, which by the way is lovely. We got to explore it a bit and loved it. There are also great restaurants with excellent food around. Very much recommended. We even got fresh eggs one night. Bonus!!! :)

The cottage was clean and spacious and decorated with a modern touch. It was also geneously stocked with everything you needed. The kids felt at home straight away thanks to the special touches such as the childrens toy box and small arm chairs. We felt very much at home aswell. We were given very helpful advise as to where to visit. The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful and we really appreciated the small things such as Gerard opening the gate for the kids to see the sheep in the morning. They thoroughly enjoyed feeding them. We very much hope to visit again in the future.

The stairs are quite steep but manageable, spacious bathroom upstairs and there's even an outside loo! Great host, lovely welcome pack of goodies made us feel right at home.

  • From the moment I requested the booking Beverley was helpful and attentive, clearly keen to ensure that every detail was looked after. My enquiries beforehand were dealt with promptly and courteously. On arrival at the cottage everything was exactly as described, with a few nice extra touches, like chocolates and a bottle of wine, how good is that?! I also want to give a shout out to Caron too; everything is so well looked after and nothing too much trouble. Now my friends and family will all confirm, that I am not a good traveller, I like going places, but not to stay, I like my own home and creature comforts. I can honestly say that this is the first occasion when I've actually felt truly at home, away from home. Little things like the nice bedding and towels make all the difference, not to mention the well equipped kitchen and the cosy accommodation. The location is perfect too, there is soooo much to explore, there's plenty on the doorstep, but if you wish to see some of the most stunning sights and are willing to put some effort in, mountains, beach, lakes and waterfalls, are all within reach. I absolutely love this place and it's the first time I've ever said I'd come back to the same destination.

  • Thank you for letter the Bailey family stay! House was beautiful and so cosy! Perfect location near by corner shop! House warms up quick with heating, lovely welcome pack when we arrived! We have had a very packed week doing: horse riding in Llangorse, paddling at llandysul, walking at Brechfa forest and the big pit along with the beautiful Tenby and Saundersfoot (my favourite places in Wales) recommend them! Beverly was there if we needed her all I had to do was message her if I had a question and she'd message back straight away! Very clean house! Thank you for letting us stay once again we'll be back!

Over 200 years old apple cottage retains its old world charm while providing modern comfort. great views over the common and towards the black mountain. Large enclosed private garden. Fantastic base to explore the Brecon Beacons, Gower Coast and the West Wales coastline.
Apple cottage is a one bedroom stone cottage next door to my own home. It is fully equipped for a comfortable and stress free experience. The French door of the kitchen lead out to the garden which is of a good size and very well tended and designed. Dog owners can relax in this furnished gardenspace as their pets cannot run off as it is very private and secure.
Gwaun Cae Gurwen is an old mining village set at the foot of the Brecon Beacons. The cottage is outside of the village and is privileged with fantastic views over the common and towards the Black Mountain. There are two 24 hour Tesco either side of the cottage both 4 miles distance. There is a smaller supermarket at the end of the road which is about a 15 minute walk. We have one very good restaurant/bar which is walking distance and the traditional welsh rugby club which welcomes visitors in to watch a game or just have a drink.

  • We loved our stay at Nant Melwyn so much, we extended our stay for another night! The cottage is extremely comfortable and very well appointed. Steve provides excellent information about orientation to his home and the local area. We thoroughly enjoyed hiking in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons. We met Jean, the local contact person, who is delightful and very helpful. If you are looking for a relaxing hideaway I would highly recommend Nant Melwyn.

    Vicki2015-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Had a 5 night break at Nant Melyn, with my partner, mum and 2 dogs. Steve's communication was excellent and we found the cottage easily, even managed reversing along the drive. There was both a human and doggy welcome pack waiting for us on arrival. The cottage was very comfortable, clean and fully equipped with a massive bathroom larger than either bedroom. The tiered garden was very pretty but it was too wet during our stay for us to enjoy. Upper Brynamman is part of a larger ex-mining community, it is not a picturesque little hamlet, but there are amazing views and the constant sound of babbling brooks. Open countryside and National Park is literally just around the corner but you need to explore. The nearest pub serving food during our visit was The Mount Bar & Grill, 5 minutes drive away at Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen, we had a lovely home cooked meal with massive portions and very reasonable priced. It's also worth driving out to The George at Upper Cwmtwrch. The nearest shops are in Ammanford they have a large Lidl and Tesco and a nice little pedestrian high street with cafe/bakery and some nice shops to browse. On the downside, we didn't arrive til after 5 pm on Monday, the corner shop/off licence shut at 4, the local Bridge Inn didn't appeal to us and there was no where else open in walking distance so we tried to order a takeaway but most were closed Mondays. We eventually got a kebab (my mums first) and pizza delivered from Yummie's (recommended) as there wasn't a Chinese open. After exploring the local area by foot next morning we discovered the Tregib Arms didn't open til Wednesday and they had no cook til October. The lack of any useable storage in the second bedroom was an issue, we had this room as the bed was wider but had to store our clothes in the other room or leave them in our case. Nant Melyn is described as dog friendly but after reading the almost unreadable terms and conditions and the extensive do's and don't list in the cottage manual I spent most of our holiday paranoid that our young dogs would leave a tiny trace of their presence as this was not allowed in the rules. So they spent more time in their crates than they usually would. Also the garden was described as secure but there was a large hole in the fence I tried to fix and access into next doors garden behind the summer house. If you are hikers or a small family with young children looking for a cosy cottage and plan to eat in or are happy to drive then I can recommend Nant Melyn but we wanted to chill out for a few days with our dogs and walk to the local pub and have some nice meals and we couldn't do that so it was not ideal for us and the description is slightly misleading.

  • Nant Melyn cottage is a lovely and comfortable cottage. We instantly felt at home there and Steve and his team did everything they could to make us feel welcome. This is the perfect place if you really want some peace and quiet. The local area is very quiet, it is not easy to go out to eat locally during the week, unless you are willing to drive. The local shop is a convenience store but does not sell sandwiches, so be prepared to do some cooking or go further afield to shop.

    Sarah2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was enchanting. Steve arranged everything beautifully and was quick to answer all our questions. When we arrived, the house was spotless and he'd left us a bottle of red, welsh cakes and treats for our dog. There was plenty of information regarding walks in the surrounding area and the coast was easily accessible. Four days wasn't long enough. We'd love to visit again.

  • Absolutely amazing cottage to stay in. Very warm and cosy, and perfect for exploring Brecon Beacons. Steve has put so much thought in to the cottage, and every little detail made it a true delight to stay in.

  • Loved our stay at Nant Melyn cottage, the surrounding areas were beautiful so the drive there was definitely not boring! Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing escape for a few days, or just somewhere quaint to stay whilst making the most of walking in the Brecon Beacons national park and/or the activities on offer. Thanks again Steve!

  • A beautifully kept cottage well placed for exploring the surrounding area. Steve kept us well informed from start to finish. An excellent stay and I would highly recommend.

  • Our stay at Nant Melyn cottage was very relaxing and peaceful. The cottage itself is beautiful and very well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. We would definitely recommend the cottage and would consider a return stay.

Barcud is one of our cosy, welcoming holiday cottages at Golden Grove Cottages. Barcud Cottage is a stone built semi detached barn conversion set in rolling countryside with breath-taking views. We are only 3.5 miles from the vibrant market town of Llandeilo with its specialist shops and eateries and 900 year old castle, just minutes from Aberglasney Gardens and The National Botanical Gardens of Wales and less than 10 miles from the impressive Brecon Beacons National Park.
We live up on a hill in a very quiet and peaceful spot and our nearest neighbours are approx 400 mtrs away. However, if you need access to the M4 we are only 10 minutes from its end point in rolling, beautiful countryside. Our nearest town is Llandeilo and everyone falls for its charms
  • Everything was as we could have wished with all help provided. This definitely an ideal place for a longer weekend in the colder season with a good central heating. Additional to the super markets listed just 4 miles away there is a very new Aldi store.

  • I would highly recommend Charlotte's cottages at golden grove! It exceeded all our expectations - tranquil, relaxing and had everything on hand for an enjoyable stay!

    Kate2017-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • It was immaculate, spacious and very well laid out. Easy to find and nice and private, feeling very safe at all times. It was close to a lovely market town Llandeilo and within 15 minutes of a number of great places, both National Trust and other gardens etc.

  • Well worth a visit, ideal location for Llandeilo.

    Neil2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • The place is beautiful, with amazing views of the local area. Close to lots of things to see and explore. Can't recommend the cottage enough.

  • Charlotte is a very friendly and caring host and just a phonecall away, if you should have a problem or question. The cottage is very well equipped, Even with a door protective grid, so that our little Girl could sleep safely upstairs. The beds are very comfortable, the two bathrooms in a very good and clean shape. We prepped dinner and breakfast in the Kitchen and did Not Miss a thing. In front of the cottage is a little playground and we could watch our daughter play from the kitchen window. We even washed and tumble dried our clothes in the provided washing machine and tumble dryer. A Perfect cottage for a Family with Kids. The view of wales is stunning and our girl even had the possibility to feed the lambs, although we couldn't make it because she was so tired of our days discovering the region. A lovely castle, amazing landscapes and good shopping opportunities are a 10-20min drive away. We would love to return next year.

    Jana 2017-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Barcud cottage, would definitely return! Quiet and very scenic, great base for exploring the area! Charlotte was a great host! Thank you.

  • Was really pleased to see outdoor play area for kids on site. Got a big climbing thing with a slide and a smaller one for tots. Cottage was bigger than photos gave it credit for, it was much more spacious. For example, there was ample room on the first floor for the travel cot. I loved all the natural light in the place too. Very nicely decorated, very clean and tidy. It was only a short drive away from supermarkets, and some really nice places to eat and visit. However, it's up a short but windy single lane, so if you struggle driving on them be prepared. Kind, helpful hosts and lovely cottages in a lovely area. Will definitely look it up again in future visits.

  • Really nice! Hosts are lovely, immaculate facilities, beautiful surroundings. Would definitely stay again!

  • What a wonderful space in a fantastic location. The Log Pod itself is cosy but at the same time surprisingly spacious (for a couple), with basic amenities (electric hob, fridge, kettle, toaster, cutlery) that you need to cook a quick meal. The camp site is great! The toilets are super clean. There is a surrounding wood, with a little stream and a hill for a short walk for great views. We were 30 mins drive from loads of coastal towns too, so plenty to keep us busy. The hosts were really friendly, and flexible re: check-in. Thank you both for such a great experience! P.s. we loved the sheep!

    Dean2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Log Pod was even better than me and my partner dared to hope! The campsite site is very easy to access, all the staff were super friendly and helpful and the washroom facilities are immaculate - well worthy of the Loo of the year awards it's been granted! It's very well located to enjoy some great nature reserves via a short drive. The Pod itself is surprisingly spacious and it provided a welcome break from the pouring rain during our stay. The underfloor heating is a wonderful luxury! With two little hobs and basic crockery we were able to rustle up nice dinners and cosy up in the evening, and although we didn't get round to using the TV (and the charity donation DVD collection) it's a nice option to have. We were very happy with our stay in the Pod and would happily come back whilst enjoying some more lovely Welsh nature.

  • Sian and her husband were the most genuine, generous, kind hosts! My fiancé and I stayed at The Pod from 23rd Dec-25th Dec. We contacted Sian through the AirB&B app with some questions before our stay and I was happily surprised at how quickly and politely she responded. We also checked in at around 7pm instead of 3pm due to unforeseen traffic and other such problems but let her know via text as soon as we knew and again she was more that happy to accommodate us. Although The Pod was slightly difficult to find, as it isn't listed as being part of the Riverview Caravan park, (and it was dark!) once there all was forgotten, The Pod and its underfloor heating warmed us up and made us instantly feel at home and the smell of the wood was incredible. The Pod is set in a gorgeous location, with a security barrier for cars (only people staying get a card key to enter through it.) There are plenty of little nature trails to wonder down and a picture perfect river that runs through the park. There are also chickens and sheep in a nearby paddock that give you a noise every once in a while. (Sadly we didn't have time to venture to far but we will on our next visit.) Sian's place has great amenities inside and outside of the pod including a washing up station and freshwater and rubbish station outside and extension cable, plates and cutlery, pans, electric hot plate and so much more inside (oh and did I mention the underfloor heating...)They have thought of everything! The table and seats convert easily into a comfy bed (bring sheet, pillows and duvet) that we did not want to get out of! The quiet, peaceful setting gave us chance to reconnect as a couple and have some down time before the chaos of Christmas. Yes the walk to the bathroom can be a bit of a chore but it's not far away and is lit all the way. The showers are powerful and almost feel like spring water straight from the river. We didn't put the tele on once! Nor were we fussed about Wi-Fi signal (a little patchy.) We just wish we hadn't left. (Even now the 6th Jan, we think back to it and wish we were there! Soon I hope!) Talking to Sian and her husband as we checked out on Christmas morning they hinted at the prospect of more Pods in the future and all we say to that is hells yes!Members of the family and our friends are all interested in staying there so the more Pods the better. Fantastic value for money. This stay made us want to spend time in Pods all over the UK, although I don't think any will match up to Sian's place and her customer service. Anyone considering staying her, consider no longer. Go! You will not be disappointed! Anja & Zoe

  • Excellent area, friendly, extremely helpful hosts, beautiful grounds with chickens, sheep and pigs. Excellent bathroom facilities, easy access, easy to find. Clean, well equipped, warm and cosy, beautiful view from pod.

  • Absolutely loved our stay in the log pod! Myself, my boyfriend and our small dog stayed here from Friday-Monday and it was everything we needed in a base camp. 30 minutes from local beaches and towns and conveniently located from the M4 but not close enough to be a noise issue. My puppy absolutely loved the river - he's not much of a water baby but he did love splashing about in the shallow parts of the ford and the dog walking field at the back of the site offered lots of space to stretch his little legs. Basic amenities made our stay very comfortable - fridge was freezing and kept all our food very fresh, and plates and cups etc were all clean and aplenty. The only downside was the wifi signal wasn't particularly strong in the pod - I had to stand in the doorway to connect my laptop and phone and it would drop about halfway down the pod, but not really a problem in the day as we were busy exploring. Thank you Sian, we will be back I'm sure!

    Caitlin2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the log pod, it was large enough for two of us and our small dog. The whole site was really great and really enjoyed the designated dog walking area. The book and DVD library were handy with a good selection and only a donation to the Air Ambulance required. Only one issue we had is that the fridge wasn't cold enough for our things so our milk was warm. Not sure if this was a fault or just because it was such a hot day and the pod had been closed up before we arrived. All in all we had a fantastic stay.. thank you!

  • My GPS had slightly led me astray the day before, so I called Simon to see where I was & where I had to go. From the first moment on the call, he had a smile in his voice, and that goes a long way with me. After he talked me to his tree-lined driveway, he met me in the car park with that same smile on his face, and enthusiasm in his voice. His home is in amazing little town, and the views from his breakfast "nook" are second to none. My room was spacious, and had an excellent private ensuite that was very welcome. Simon provided an excellent recommendation for dinner, organised the reservation for me, and directions for the 15min walk. His chosen pub/restaurant was great, mainly for the friendliness of the patrons and staff. When I came back later, he and his wife invited me in to chat with them, and I had a great time. He's very knowledgeable about all the local walks & hikes too, which I greatly appreciated. And what can I say about breakfast other than "you defeated me!". Simon takes a lot of pride in providing a hyper-local (the omelette from his own ducks' eggs was a highlight!) meal, and with the view out of the windows, he's onto a winner! This stay was a real highlight of my UK short trip.

    Ben2015-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay with Simon and Emma. I arrived late in the evening and finding out I'd had no dinner Simon rustled up a homemade plate of Indian curries and breads, it got better with the breakfast the following morning as Simon's breakfast lives up to the reputation the other reviewers gave it. The room was large, clean and comfortable, the dogs lovely and Simon and Emma were welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. I'd stay here again and recommend it to anyone - oh! and bikers welcome!!

    Adam2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Simon was abroad during our stay so we did not meet him. His communication however both prior to and during our stay was absolutely fantastic. I was also very grateful to Simon for accommodating our dog. The house is beautifully designed and very spacious. The bed was very comfy in the en-suite room with the balcony. The views are stunning. We were welcomed by the live in residents Carly, Justin and Andy. They were very friendly, helpful and hospitable. It was a real pleasure to meet them. The location was perfect and we took a day trip to Tenby Beach which was stunning. Overall a enjoyable trip with no problems.

  • The Oaks is a really lovely place to stay, perfect location for a quiet get away, with some spectacular views and lovely walks around the Brecons which are all mapped out for you in a binder in the room. We stayed in the cabbin which was cosy for 2 and very clean. We sadly didn't get to meet Simon as he was away while we visited, but he couldn't have been more helpful, even from Turkey! He was always at the end of the phone if we needed and checked in with us regularly to make sure everything was ok. Carly, who was looking after the house was friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome :-) An all round lovely place to stay :-)

  • We had a great stay at Gwennol Cottage and would highly recommend to others. Charlotte is a great host and obviously takes a lot of care to ensure the accommodation feels homely. The brecon beacons are great to explore with stuning landscape, waterfalls, castles, wish we could of stayed longer.

A relaxing and peaceful stay welcomes you in this friendly and Arty house. Great views over the Welsh countryside. Chill out and have a private art lesson in Painting or do some pottery. Look forward to meeting you soon. Welcome!
We have three double bedrooms available so can accommodate six people. One is in a separate annex and it has it's own en-suite shower and toilet Air BnB doesn't seem to allow you to link rooms on the pricing so if more than two are staying please ask and we will send you an offer. The room is spacious and light with a comfy double bed. The bathroom is also spacious with a stand alone shower and is right next to the room. We have our own bathroom so no queuing hopefully :) The property is on a farm in the countryside, so expect peace and quiet. Almost no light pollution - so some beautiful starry nights when clear. Plenty of safe parking. There are also patios to sit out on ans see the far reaching views. Llandeilo is a beautiful town with many restaurants, pubs, independent shops and places of interest. Jacki is a working artist. She also teaches art so if you fancy an arty day or weekend or your visit coincides with one of her classes you are invited to join in. Extra charges apply. She is a painter, and a sculptor in clay, www.Jacki.Yorkes.co.uk. We have another double bedroom but additional charges for the extra room will apply. We also have another annex with a double bed if you all want your own space. We are in the countryside, not in a village. A car is recommended although there is a bus stop about 1/2 mile away with buses that run from Swansea to Llandeilo. There is also Llandybie train station a few miles away. We can usually pick/drop people by prior arrangement.
We are in the countryside. Llandeilo Pottery and Art Studio. Carreg Cennan Castle Dynevor House. The Black Mountains. The Angel at LLandeilo. The red Lion. The Gower. Pembrey.

  • Paul and Jacki were perfect hosts, lovely house and gardens off the main road. Bedroom was spacious with a comfy bed and we had access to a large bathroom. Unfortunately it was a brief visit for one night and had to dash in the morning, so we had breakfast to go instead! Paul and Jacki were really flexible with timings, wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you once again!

  • The journey to South Wales was a complete different experience for me. Although, it was my first time travelling to Wales in my life. I find it difficult to locate Paul property, maybe probably I arrived very late at time. Paul was very helpful to pick me up from where I lost my bearing and I was welcome very well. Paul's house is very amazing, cool and comfortable villa; I love the decoration at his house, very close to nature. I love every bit of my stay there and also I enjoy giving myself a warm bath, sleep comfortable and had a good breakfast.
