Nestling in this picturesque village of Coxwold, Braecote is the perfect place for a romantic getaway and ideally placed for weddings at Newburgh Priory and Coxwold church and fine dining at the Michelin starred Black Swan at Oldstead. Cosy and warm and with high quality fixtures and fittings it's also a great base from which to explore the historic city of York, the North York Moors, Yorkshire Dales and east coast.
Braecote is a deceptively spacious 19th century cottage and a perfect bolthole for two. A great base for visiting York, enjoying outdoor activities, or for those who just want with space to chill and relax. You will always find tea, coffee, milk and biscuits when you arrive - and maybe a few extras if you are there for a longer stay. The well-equipped kitchen has reclaimed work surfaces and modern appliances. Relax in front of the wood-burner in the sitting room where you will find books, games, puzzles and DVDs as well as maps and information on the local area. A comfy king-size bed will ensure you have a good nights sleep then wake refreshed to views over to the Hambleton Hills. Enjoy listening to the birds and the church clock chime in the sunny south facing garden. There is space to store bikes at the back of the cottage. The cottage is suitable for a babe in arms but please bring your own travel cot.
Coxwold is a really pretty village within the North York Moors Nation Park. The neighbours are all very friendly and there's a good pub just up the road. It's well placed to explore York to the south, the Dales to the west, the Moors to the north and the coast to the east. The Georgian market town of Easingwold, with its cobbled market square where there's a great range of independent shops, a supermarket on Long Street, cafes, pubs and take aways. Thirsk to the north has a great independent cinema, James Herriot Museum, race course a Saturday and Monday market - and three supermarkets. For history lovers: Shandy Hall, once home to novelist Laurence Sterne, is just up the road, Newburgh Priory and Byland Abbey a short walk away. Further afield: Castle Howard, Rievaux Abbey and Beningbrough Hall. For culture lovers: York has so much to see, from the ancient walls to the National Railway Museum, York Minster, and York Art Gallery. For walkers: From local footpaths to further afield there's so much to explore - maps and guide books are in the cottage. Food and drink: The traditional Fauconberg Arms is just up the road and there are some excellent restaurants and pubs nearby. We recommend The Carlton Inn, Carton Husthwaite, The Staypleton Arms in Wass, The Plum and Partridge in Husthwaite and, of course, the Michelin starred Black Swan in Oldstead.
  • Sarah always kept us up to date about local information and provided everything we need to know about our stay. We truly enjoyed every moment staying there, one beautiful cottage in a peaceful and lovely village. So homely and cozy in every way. On a wet day, could have stayed in, snuggle by the fireplace with a good range of movie selection. On a sunny day, a nice walk or countryside drive would be pleasant too. Or simply enjoy a nice cuppa in the beautiful back garden. A perfect peaceful get away! Thank you very much Sarah and Ian for everything.

  • Absolutely amazing! Pristine cottage in a beautiful little village just tucked away. Great communication from Sarah. The biscuits were fab too! A host of games, books and DVDs perfect if you have a rainy weekend.

  • A fantastic cottage in a beautiful location - Sarah has done a brilliant job. I highly recommend staying here when you're next in York, and we're already planning the return leg. Thank you Sarah!

  • Absolutely beautiful cottage in a lovely, quaint little village. We had a fantastic stay and we will be returning here in the future. The cottage was spotless (I mean spotless) and very well appointed with great comfortable interior and fantastic kitchen and bathroom. The little garden out back was beautiful and the shrubs and plants outside were buzzing with bees and birds. The village itself is idyllic - The pictures don't do it justice. The pub is great with a very welcoming landlord. The tea-room is very sweet with a lovely garden to sit and have your tea and scone. Great communication from Sarah throughout the process and easy check-in. Great instructions for the cottage and tourist information about the surrounding areas provided too. Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Braecote at the end of August. The cottage was exactly as described and contained everything we could possibly need for a short break. It was scrupulously clean on arrival and had a well equipped kitchen, fluffy towels, and books and games in the living room. Coxwold is a beautiful, quiet village in the heart of the countryside. It is well placed for visits to many interesting places including Fountains Abbey, Rievaulx Terrace and Ampleforth. We had a wonderful stay and would not hesitate to return!

    Lucy2016-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was 5* perfect with the most thoughtful touches. We loved the village, met most of the villagers at the pub (great bunch!) and went away determined to buy a holiday cottage.. Sarah was onto it with communication before we arrived and is a lovely hostess. We just didn't read the email before we arrived Silly of us but Sarah promptly returned our call. There is helpful local info in the lounge with maps. Books. Games. DVDs. The cottage was superb, spacious for two and the bedroom is huge. The kitchen was surprisingly large and the shower was Amazing! Loved that there was a bath too. Highly recommend..

    Jen2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time staying in this beautiful little cottage. The cottage it'self is just perfect and Sarah has really thought of everything when it comes to the extra little touches. They definitely haven't cut any corners! It was the perfect place and location to explore more of North Yorkshire! Thank you for being so responsive and getting back to any queries so quickly! We hope to visit again in the future!

    Samantha2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely pleasurable stay. Communication was brill and the complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits were a sweet touch. 5 stars! Would definitely recommend!

We are close to Ampleforth, Helmsley, Pickering, Castle Howard and not too far from York, the coast is within an hours drive with lovely beaches at Filey and Scarborough so is great for walking, cycling and sight seeing. The accommodation is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, it has its own entrance with a kitchenette and a bathroom. You’ll love the relaxed village life and beautiful scenery. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
The full address is 4 The Terrace, Oswaldkirk YO62 5XZ. The Terrace is a narrow lane at the bottom of Oswaldkirk bank, as you travel along the lane there is a parking area on there right, our house is next door to the parking. You can park in bay 8 in the car park (top left hand corner). The house has a lovely garden which guests are welcome to use.
Oswaldkirk is a beautiful small village, it has two churches and a pub which serves food, it is also close to several very reputable pubs, hotels and restaurants.
  • Michelle was really friendly and welcoming and the room has everything you need! The place is in a beautiful and peaceful location. Perfect for a little countryside escape.

    Liberty2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle was a brilliant host - incredibly quick to respond and could not have been more helpful when we go there. The accommodation was more like a mini cottage than a self contained room. Great little kitchen and shower room. Very spacious and spotlessly clean. Lovely location - we had a great walk to Ampleforth for an excellent bar meal in the evening. Would strongly recommend.

    Jim2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle was very welcoming. It was great to be told all the things offering. Also local pamphlets left in the cottage were a great help. The cottage is set in a very beautiful garden such a calm and restful experience. We so enjoyed our stay.

  • Very nice and clean. Friendly and helpfull host. Everything new and best choice.

    Florian2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle was extremely welcoming by greeting us on our arrival and showing us all the wonderful facilities offered in her charming and homely self-contained annexe. Having a kitchenette was a pleasant surprise and the personal bathroom, just perfect! Her excellent local knowledge helped us plan our visit to the area and we wished that we had booked more than one night to enjoy the comfortable space and the scenic surroundings. We would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet, attractive and welcoming Airbnb experience.

    Gill2016-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice self contained annexe, spotlessly clean, lovely spacious shower, and Michelle left us all the makings for a good healthy breakfast. We would be very happy to stay here again when we are next in the area.

    Diane2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The location is perfect and the facilities are spotless. Great area for walks, with a good few local pubs. The ampleforth college, which is nearby looks like something from the film world! Michelle and her husband had good ideas of where to eat, and have even made a useful guide of the area for visitors. Worth a visit and great value for money

The well equipped kitchen with dining area has a range of modern and antique units and under-floor heating. You will find tea, coffee, milk and biscuits when you arrive. There is an oven, hob, microwave, and fridge with freezer box. The living room has oak floors, antique rugs and a mix of old and contemporary furniture. For the colder months there is a powerful wood burning stove (first basket of logs included and more available). Snuggle up on the sofa and relax with a good book, a selection of games, or watch TV. A comprehensive range of maps, local books and DVDs are kept in the housekeeper's cupboard. The downstairs shower room has underfloor heating and a powerful walk in shower. This is a great area for walking and cycling and well placed to explore a wealth of attractions further afield from York to the south, the Dales to the west, the Moors to the north and the coast to the east.
  • We found the Barn a wonderfully relaxing venue, the amenities were superb, the open fire very welcome after a day's sightseeing. Sarah had anticipated our needs with tea, coffee and milk available upon our arrival along with a friendly face and advice only if we required it. Would definitely return.

    Jan2016-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • A very special place for a getaway, the barn is immaculate inside and out and has been finished with a sophisticated style combining contemporary and traditional elements. Lots of character and charm, it's cosy and very comfortable. Less like a holiday rental and much more like a real home which was lovely. Sarah was a truly welcoming, approachable and helpful host, she recommended some local must see destinations which was much appreciated. We arrived to a pre-prepared fire in the log burner just waiting to be lit which was a very thoughtful touch. Milk, biscuits and fresh apples from the garden were also waiting on arrival. We would love to return in the near future.

    Peter2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage in a very quiet country village. The perfect location for a quiet getaway. The cottage itself was immaculately presented, clean and the kitchen was very well-equipped with everything you would need. It was also cosy and warm. Sarah herself was a great host and while we didn't need to interact much through our stay, she was very helpful with a minor issue sorted out immediately, and it was great knowing she was on hand if necessary. I would happily recommend the place to others.

    Ayesha2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay in this Luxury Barn, it is beautifully designed and had everything you need for a comfortable stay. Sarah was welcoming and very friendly but then respected our privacy and felt we had our own place in her beautiful garden. Would recommend highly and return for a second trip.

    Adam2015-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in Sarah’s luxury barn. The barn and garden were lovely and set in a pretty village. The nearby North Yorks Moor National Park is stunning. The barn was bright with lots of windows and French doors. It was stylish, comfortable and convenient. Sarah provided books, games and jigsaws as well as tourist information. The bedroom was stunning with a very comfortable bed. There was a good shower, heated towel rail and underfloor heating. Sarah and Ian were friendly hosts. We highly recommend Sarah’s luxury barn.

    Helen & Tom2015-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived a tad early and Sarah greeted us warmly and showed us the cottage. It is all and more, than described. Everything is 5 star and ultra clean and in tip top condition. The place is so cosy with only 2 electric wall heaters that we didn't bother lighting the wood burner, although it would have added to the ambience. A beautiful conversion and we highly recommend this accommodation to everyone. Cheers Alf and Polly

    alf2016-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful setting very quiet, the barn has everything you need for a pleasant stay just wish it had been cold enough to have lit the wood burner stove. Lots of the villages nearby have have excellent pub/restaurants so you would not go hungry.

    Janet & John2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah is an excellent host. When we arrived, a fire had already been built for us and tea, coffee and biscuits were waiting for us. The barn itself is gorgeous and everything we could possibly require was provided. I will definitely be coming back.

Lovely, self-contained mini-studio apartment in a former railway station in Gilling East, on the edge of the North York Moors. Comfy double bed with TV, wifi and en-suite. Your own entrance and kitchenette. Fantastic walks and cycle rides straight from the door as well as lots of attractions further afield.
Platform 1 is a double bedroom, complete with small sitting corner, en-suite shower room and kitchenette. There's a smart TV, superfast broadfast as well as hanging space for your clothes. The shower room has an easy-to-use electric shower and supplies such as hand soap, shampoo, tissues and cotton wool balls as well as plenty of loo roll. The kitchenette has a combi-microwave oven, fridge, sink, kettle and toaster. You'll get supplies to start you off - tea, coffee, milk and biscuits - and there's a 'breakfast' bar where two people can eatcomfortably side by side. Platform 1 also has its own seating area outside on the railway platform. It's a lovely place to sit out and has a beautiful view up towards Oswaldkirk.
Gilling itself: The lovely thing about Platform 1 at Gilling Station is that you can walk straight from the door into the most beautiful countryside. There are lots of woods, lakes and streams. It's a popular spot for walkers, mountain bikers and road bikers too. Our favourite walk at the moment is straight over the road and up the valley to the Anthony Gormley statue. It's has a wonderful view of the Ampleforth Valley and is a very special place. Within three/five miles: Hovingham tea rooms and bakery are a must. Their cakes are fantastic and it's set by a little stream and ford. It's a nice bike ride away. Ampleforth Abbey is worth a visit. The tea rooms in particular are very nice. Within ten/15 miles Helmsley's great. It has super food shops and cafes and Friday's market is very good. Obviously there's the castle too and Duncombe Park. In summer it has an outdoor swimming pool which we like very much. The walk from Helmsley to Rievaulx is really worth doing but there's many other lovely walks too. Nunnington Hall - Is so worth a visit. It's a stunning National Trust building and has lovely gardens too. Castle Howard - Is just stunning. The house is wonderful as are the grounds and the garden. Goes without saying that it has lovely tea rooms and a very nice garden centre. Easingwold - Easingwold is just a very nice market place and very much worth stopping in on your way to York. Tea Hees is a very nice coffee shop as is the Curious Table. There's also the Olive Branch which has some nice clothes upstairs and a very good antiques shop called Little Eden at the back. York is 30 minutes to the outskirts. Fantastic place to visit at any time of year.
  • Delightful little railway station B&B at "Gilling Junction". Sarah went out of her way to make my stay relaxing and enjoyable. Bed so comfortable! I would love to come back and stay hereagain.

    John2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous quiet location! Beautifully decorated and the local pub is worth a visit. Easy travelling distance to Hemsley, Malton and Pickering. York an easy journey.

    Ian2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully characterful place in a lovely, quiet area. Everything is as advertised and it has everything you need. We'd definitely recommend it as a base for exploring North Yorkshire - we visited Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay one day (an hour's drive) and York the next. We'll be visiting again!

    Amy2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovelu stay at Sarah's gorgeous Air B n b. We were so sad we could only stay for one night. Sarah was more than accomidating, there was 3 of us and with limited b n b availability she put a extra mattress in our room which was very roomy! The bed is the comfiest I have ever slept in, the bathroom was clean and the shower was great. The self catered breakfast was also fantastic. Love the quirkiness of it being a old train station too. Highly recommend we will definitely be back!

    Tim and Christy2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful place set in a picturesque village with a lovely pub. The annex had beautiful views on to fields, very tastefully decorated and very comfy bed. TV with freeview/Netflix, kitchen, ensuite shower room. Very private and quiet. Only 10 mins down the road from Helmsley - a must visit! We loved it, we will be back.

    Matthew2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect find for a quiet weekend away. The appartment has a really homely but luxury feel and Sarah made us feel very welcome by answering our questions before the stay and leaving shortbread, milk, tea, coffee and toiletries for us when we arrived. Would 100% recommend a visit here!

    Grace2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's place is perfectly proportioned! Everything you might need in a cute, stylish and very comfortable abode. We were sad to leave and would recommend it to everyone! Thank you Sarah!

    Sophie2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We booked Platform 1 for a birthday weekend break and it didn't disappoint. The gorgeous mini apartment wax immaculately clean, warm, beautifully furnished and the welcome pack of essentials for a cuppa on arrival was very much appreciated. We enjoyed a lovely walk right from the door and the great outdoors a bit further afield were fab. Helmsley is always a treat! We hope to return for another mini breakl soon. Thank you Sarah.

  • This was a fantastic cottage decorated to a high spec. We were delighted that Katy let us stay for just one night which is not often the case with other places I've (URL HIDDEN) location was perfect for exploring the beautiful Yorkshire area,Helmsley being only 10 minutes away. Our breakfast and all the extras were greatly appreciated. We will definitely return.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Katy´s Cottage in Ampleforth. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need, is absolutely clean and tidy and is furnished with love. Everything was so nice and comfortable!!! Katy was immediately there in case of questions. Ampleforth is a small but nice village in the heart of Yorkshire. It is a place with lots of interesting things in the surrounding and a wonderful landscape. Ampleforth Abbey and College are just around the corner, what made the place ideal for us at the weekend of the school´s performance of Handel´s Messiah. We would love to come back next year for our daughters confirmation weekend... Barbara, Manfred, Peter, Anna and Benedikt from Germany

    Barbara2016-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning cottage in a beautiful location! Katy could not have been more welcoming and accommodating, letting us check in early on the Saturday morning to get ready for a wedding. The cottage itself has everything you need and is beautifully decorated! We also particularly enjoyed the fresh eggs and bread left for breakfast. Only downside was only being there for one night - we didn't want to leave! I would not hesitate to stay here again and cannot rate Katy highly enough!

Castle Howard and Rievaulx Abbey are just a short drive away. Closer to home there are wonderful walks through countryside from the door, especially if you want to include pubs or tea rooms. To the north It's a lovely mile over the hill to the Royal Oak at Nunnington. To the south Hovingham is about two miles, where the Malt Shovel, village shop and both tea rooms will serve you well. And the excellent Fairfax Arms is just three miles down the lane at Gilling East.
  • We can highly recommend this place, the compact space is fitted out to a very high standard, everything is of high quality, clean, comfortable and looks and feels new. James is a very attentive host, he provided very good ingredients for a continental breakfast which we were able to enjoy on the sunny south facing terrace with views of the surrounding countryside. He also has some good suggestions as to where to eat and drink locally which we can also recommend. Take a drink or snack to the veiwpoint, it is definitely worth the 5 minutes walk.

  • Lovely cosy little place with use of the patio if it's nice. We also used the bbq after buying some local produce at a good festival. Breakfast is included and you can enjoy it at your leisure.Lovely quiet place.

  • This accomodation is wonderful for someone who is looking for a peaceful place after his visit long touristic day. So relaxed and beautiful around! The room is fully equipped and the continental breakfast in the fridge was perfect and exactly as we use to have it and the bathroom is inviting for the shower! Communication with James was easy, we are not so good in reading instructions but he reacted fast on all our extra mails patiently and we have managed everything! Highly recommended!

  • My partner and I had a lovely break at the Carpenter's Lodgings. James was a fantastic host - we had our privacy but knew he was right there if we needed anything - his communication was superb and he was friendly and helpful. The space is small (as is clearly stated in the description) - a bedroom and ensuite, with simple cooking facilities - kettle/fridge/mini oven. But it met all of our needs perfectly - comfy beds, fantastic shower, delicious continental breakfast included, and everything very clean and well arranged, with beautiful wooden beams. We particularly appreciated the way we could come and go as we pleased without treading on James's toes as it was a self-contained unit. Would highly recommend, and would return if we were back in the area. Thanks James!

    Andi2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really lovely, ingeniously compact and well-appointed room with excellent en suite and basic facilities for making toast, tea coffee etc, plus a small fridge. The room is in an annexe in a courtyard at the back of the main house, so even though a pretty speedy main road runs through Stonegrave (though there's really not that much traffic), it is extremely quiet and peaceful. Very comfortable beds, a good, hot shower and generally vg standard of decoration, carpeting and general comfort. Plenty of warmth if need from underfloor heating or controllable radiator. It was great to do a b&b and have that independence of when to get up and have breakfast. Plus James was very accommodating on our arrival time, which ended up being rather late, so thanks to him for that, too. Not to mention delicious homemade bread rolls with the supplied breakfast. We would stay again.

    Nigel2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Carpenter's Lodgings was the perfect home base for exploring Helmsley, Rievaulx Abbey, and Castle Howard. James is a gracious host and the cottage was clean and compact. Stonegrave is tiny! The road is a busy one but once you close the gate you will find yourself in a quiet country garden. Definite recommend!

    Elizabeth2017-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Charming room with a charming host. The room is small but very comfortable. The location is superb for visiting Gilling, Ampleforth or as a base for visiting the Yorkshire moors.

Kilburn village is very popular with walkers, cyclists and pilots wanting to try their hand at gliding at the Yorkshire Gliding Club, which is close by. The village of Kilburn features many beautiful cottages, the White Horse (large hillside figure), the Mouseman Visitor Centre, the historic church of St. Mary’s and the very popular Forresters Arms.
  • We had a great 2-night stay at Jasmine Cottage. It's quite tucked away, so Keith helpfully met us at the pub and steered us in the right direction, up the narrow lane. It's a characterful cottage that has tastefully and thoughtfully been made into a comfortable and very well equipped holiday cottage. Keith gave us a tour, and then left us to settle in, after explaining how to get in touch with him if we needed to. We appreciated the books, maps and walk suggestions in the cottage and were very excited to find the book about Robert Thompson and then realise that the Mouseman Centre was just a few yards down the road. There are good walks directly from the cottage but we chose to drive to our starting point and take in Bylands and Rievaulx abbeys on the way. We managed to tear ourselves away from the multi-fuel stove one evening to go to the Forresters' Arms, a couple of minutes walk away. Food OK, Mouseman furniture outstanding! The huge bed at the cottage is very comfortable and with the stove going, there was masses of hot water.

  • We had a lovely stay in Jasmine Cottage with our 1 year old. The cottage has a cosy feel, and was bigger than expected from the photos. It was clean, well equipped and nicely furnished throughout. The village is quiet and picturesque, and well located for country walks. Keith was a good friendly host, met us at the local pub car park to show us to the cottage. He explained everything we needed, and communicated well before and during our stay. I can't think of anything negative to say. We plan to visit again next year.

  • Wonderful place. Will come again!

  • We had a fab stay at Jasmine Cottage. We were warmly welcomed by the house manager Suzi as Keith was away at the time and she gave us a tour of the cottage and explained how everything worked. The cottage itself was really lovely and had everything we could possibly need for our short break - and the bed was super comfy! It is a great location for outdoor activities, we had a nice hike up to the white horse finished off by a fantastic meal at the nearby Forrester's Arms - highly recommended. The one issue we had was we had wanted to rent road bikes from Sutton Bank cycle shop which only seemed to be open at the weekends and we were unable to find anywhere else nearby that we could rent from. However, we had a enjoyable day out at Dalby Forest where we were able to hire mountain bikes instead. Next time we will be sure to bring our bikes with us!

  • This is a lovely cottage that my family enjoyed thoroughly. It's an old building with the original beams exposed but well fitted so it is warm, clean, and comfortable. It is well-equipped but not at all cluttered. The location is idyllic with so much to see nearby we were spoilt for choice. Do NOT expect mobile reception or plenty of shops! I kept forgetting to download the area on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps, which I regretted. The cottage has an Internet connection though, so we were not isolated. Keith met us at the property when we arrived and showed us everything we needed to know. He knows the area well and has plenty of recommendations for local attractions. The kitchen has good quality equipment for cooking and baking, although I missed having an extractor fan. I baked some shortbread, cooked breakfast, and stir-fried an evening meal. Keith provided a lovely breakfast hamper on request, and we found useful ingredients in the cupboards. The first evening we spent there we took a pleasant stroll to see the White Horse of Kilburn (a hill-carving). Our kids especially loved the nearby petting zoo and spent half a day there. We all relaxed well and could happily have spent another few days there exploring the environs.

  • Jasmine cottage was immaculate, cosy and in a beautiful setting. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

    Claire2017-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our 3 day stay at the well equipped Jasmine Cottage was perfect. The cottage is very comfortable (especially the beds) - a home from home. Kieth is a very caring host and has lots of information on local history, areas of interest and walks. Communication was excellent from booking onwards. Are all AirBnB cottages as good as this? I doubt it.

  • This is a great place perfectly suited for exploring the local North Yorkshire area. Situated in the lovely village of Oswaldkirk. The property on which this house sits is quite beautiful as well. The house was perfect for 2 or more guests. The house itself was aesthetically pleasing and all amenities worked perfectly. I lament not visiting the local pub Malt Shovel Inn which was walking distance but there wasn't a free evening to do so. I recommend this place highly and will stay again .

    Robin2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I were lucky enough to be the first guests at Hill Farm Cottage. We stayed for 3 nights at the end of July. Andrew and Ella were wonderful, welcoming hosts. They were very flexible and laid back, which suited us well, and good at communicating over our arrival. On top of all that, there was a lovely welcome of some milk in the fridge when we arrived as well as a bottle of wine - we were delighted and couldn't not have asked for more. The cottage is really wonderful. I would guess that it is a converted barn, with rooms arranged on split levels, and an open staircase running up through the centre of the house. On the right as you enter is the kitchen and breakfast bar, and further to the right, all on the same level, is a loo, a utility room with a washing machine and a double bedroom. On left, down five or six steps, is the sunny lounge / diner, whose great feature is the large french windows opening onto a south-facing terrace with glorious views over the valley. On one of the days, we ate lunch on the terrace, and when the sun went in, we went inside leaving the doors open so as to hear the sheep calling one another on the opposite hillside. That's about as much noise as we heard during our stay. Upstairs there are more bedrooms (I think one is en-suite?) and a bathroom. Our favourite was the bedroom above the lounge, as it has the same views as the lounge, while the others are quite cozy with smaller windows. We found the bed and pillows to be very comfortable. The cottage was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we could have wanted, including tea, coffee, sugar, soap, and even washing power for the washing machine. There's everything you need to wash up, but there's a small washing machine too, so the amount of washing up to do is very small! There's a TV and DVD player, a stock of DVDs, a few board games, a few books on Yorkshire, a local map and some local tourist information. And the location is oustanding. Oswaldkirk is a small and quiet village on the edge of glorious, open countryside, and within easy reach of great walking (or horseriding) country. But despite being definitely rural, there is an great selection of places to visit close by: we visited the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey, saw Ripon Cathedral and went to Vespers at Ampleforth, but we will be back to visit Castle Howard, ride the North York Moors Railway to the sea Whitby and visit the dozens of thriving market towns in the area.

  • A Fantastic wonderful home. Accommodation is spotlessly clean, comfortable and very beautiful - Andrew and Ella have thought and supplied everything you would need for a home from home break away. Beds comfy and pillows divine views amaizing Milk coffee tea were provided which is always very much appreciated especially after a long drive / swims, it's something you always forget to collect on the way in especially if no shops near by that you know of. Hope to stay there again soon. Five stars in anyone's books & thank you Andrew and Ella for sharing your amazing accommodation.

  • Although our stay was short, this outstanding cottage was an ideal base for walking and sightseeing in the Dales. The cottage has a spacious living area with cleverly designed, open-plan staircase to comfortable bedrooms and stunning view of the Dales. Everything has been carefully thought out from the well equipped kitchen to the patio doors which open out entirely onto a cosy patio, where we shared breakfast with those wonderful views. Andrew and Ella are great and thoughtful hosts! Highly recommended!

  • The B&B from Annabelle is okay regarding the price-quality ratio. Annabel is a most helpful no nonsense person with a great affection for nature and more specific for animals. Additional pluses are on one hand, the quiet and silent street of the B&B and on theater hand the excellent pub - restaurant, just around the corner. The region has many interesting spots.Highly recommended.

  • We really enjoyed staying with Anabelle . Anabelle is very friendly and welcoming, and kept in touch with us, to ensure our safe arrival. Its a lovely cottage and the beds super comfy too. It is very quiet and such a beautiful location with an excellent pub for meals. We very much appreciate towels being supplied, and being able to have cereals , bread and fruit for breakfast. Thank you Anabelle. We were treated to being with 10 day old puppies, with their attentive mum Goblin. A delightful stay indeed. We highly recommend, and hope to return one day soon.

  • Louise and Richard are outstanding hosts! They are warm and welcoming, and their cottage is absolutely beautiful--luxuriously decorated and very comfortable. Louise's breakfasts are great. She talks to you about what you like, and the next day a gourmet meal suited to your tastes appears in front of you. You can eat either in the cottage or join the other guests from the railway carriage in the kitchen of the main house. The cottage is very conveniently located to everything in Helmsley, including the walk to Rievaulx Abbey. Richard also gave us helpful directions for a drive through the Moors. Absolutely great stay.

  • Staying in Richard and Louise's cottage was a highlight of our trip. The cottage is adorable, with the most comfortable mattress ever! The living room was very cosy with a big TV and loads of DVDs. Louise is an incredible cook and made us an amazing breakfast - exotic fruit followed by a delicious full English. Richard was kind enough to drop us off at the Star Inn down the road (a really good Michelin starred pub) and to draw us a map to Rivealx Abbey, which is well worth a visit. Thanks very much for having us, what brilliant hosts you are. Hope you had a good NYE!

  • My boyfriend and I stayed at the cottage for just the one night, but it was just perfect. The cottage was beautiful, a little haven, with lots of thoughtful touches (biscuits, cognac, etc.). Richard and Louise were fabulous hosts - warm and welcoming, very available yet discreet, and the breakfasts were delicious (even some scrambled egg for our little dog!). Right in the centre of Helmsley yet very quiet, I couldn't recommend more highly.

  • Where do I even begin? My partner and I wanted to visit Yorkshire for our third anniversary, and were delighted to find Helmsley Railway Carriage on airbnb. We didn't, however, expect to be even more blown away on seeing it in person. Louise and Richard have done such a fantastic job of turning this third-class Victorian carriage into a first-class marvel. So much care and thought has been put into making the most of the space. On top of that, Louise and Richard are such warm and welcoming hosts that it only adds to the feeling that you're somewhere very special indeed. There were even an anniversary card and two pieces of delicious pistachio cake waiting for us when we arrived! Though we asked for a breakfast of only fruit and yogurt, Louise made us the most spectacular dishes of every fruit imaginable! We had such a brilliant time here, and were sad to leave so soon. I can't recommend this place enough.

  • We were made very welcome by Louise and Richard for the duration of our stay. The accommodation was excellent and of a very high standard. The food was glorious and I would certainly recommend you have an evening meal; Louise was happy to prepare whatever you wished. The little touches were appreciated e.g. Heart shaped chocolate cupcakes with real strawberry butter cream on arrival, a quality selection of hot drink choices, crisp white bed linen. The venue was well located within the village amenities and provided a parking facility. Highly recommended!

  • I’ve just got back from a one night stay in Richard and Louise’s’ beautiful railway carriage and wish I’d have stayed longer! There were four in our group and the carriage was easily big enough for all of us. Two of us were in the bunk beds, which we loved and really added to the charm of staying in a railway carriage. The other two in the group were on the double bed in the lounge, which folds down when needed. The location is fantastic, a couple of hundred yards walk and you’re in the market square, which is full of great little shops and plenty of choices for eating and drinking. The carriage itself retains all the unique features of a traditional railway carriage, whilst having all of the mod cons you need. There’s a flat screen pop-up TV with plenty of great DVD’s should you choose to have a relaxing night in, central heating and a walk in wet room. Richard and Louise greeted us with a warm welcome and were very flexible on check-in and check-out times. Initially, we were going to do our own thing for breakfast but decided on arrival to go for Louise’s highly recommended one, which wasn't a problem at all. Breakfast is served in Richard and Louise’s kitchen and the reviews aren’t wrong, it’s delicious and lots of it! There’s secure parking for one car at the top of the entrance to the carriage and if your group has more than one car, other parking is available. Louise and Richard were great hosts, giving us plenty of information on where to eat and sites to see. We’ll be back!

  • I booked the carriage as a surprise for my wife's birthday to complement a trip on the North Yorks Moors Railway the following day from nearby Pickering. When booking over the internet there is always a small seed of doubt about whether the accommodation lives up to the photos, the description and to other reviews. Dispel any doubts that you may have, this is absolutely the real deal. The inside of the carriage was immaculately presented, the lighting and decor create a lovely sense of grandeur and period whilst retaining all the practicalities that you need for a few days away. Louise could not have been more helpful and has a genuine passion to make sure that your stay is as seamless and as fulfilling as possible. Nothing was too much trouble and the little touches throughout our stay kept the smiles on our faces from beginning to end. I recommend staying here without hesitation, just make sure it's not on a date when we want to return!

  • Louise was an incredible host. The carriage is unique and beautifully decorated, plus equipped with everything you need. Breakfast was amazing and it was great to chat to Louise as well. Helmsley is picturesque and we only wish we could have been there longer. Recommending it to our friends already.

  • Lovely host's who spoiled us. We enjoyed our stay in the 'quirky' Railway carriage. The bed was super comfy and the luxury touches did not go unnoticed. You would never know this well hidden haven was located in the centre of town. We hope to stay again, perhaps try the cottage next time. There is lots to do in and around the area.

    Janet2016-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here for one night as we were attending a wedding nearby. What an amazing find! Beautiful Carriage full of charm and very cleverly thought out use of space. All the facilities you could possibly need. Richard and Louise were very welcoming and our full Yorkshire Breakfast was just what we needed after a night of celebrations. Can't wait to return to this beautiful part of the world for a longer stay in this unique property. Thank you for your hospitality.

Stone built separate cottage with wood burning stove and amazing views. Breakfast is served in your room with locally sourced food. In the charming village of Ampleforth on the edge of the North York Moors, perfect for a romantic country break.

There is a fridge in your room along with the usual tea and coffee making stuff, and a toaster. There is a wood burning stove, sofa and plenty of space.
Ours is a very pretty village in the North York Moors National Park. There are two pubs (both of which do food), a coffee shop/bakery, general store/newsagent, and beautiful views, as we are on the side of a south-facing hill. There are beautiful walks from our door, and wonderful ruined abbeys and castles as well as extraordinary stately homes to visit. A perfect space for two people looking for a quiet weekend in the countryside. Frances and Simon are fantastic hosts, full of great information on the area and happy to provide tips (and maps!) of their favorite places to visit. Frances' full English is out of this world and the homemade bread and jams are delicious. The best way to explore is by car. A day trip through the moors and out to the coast is a must. Some of our favorites were Helmsley, Robin Hood's Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes. While I wish we could have stayed longer, you can get a good flavor for the area in a Fri-Sun weekend. Needless to say, we will be back!

  • Frances greeted us on arrival at her beautiful house. The room was perfect, every detail was well thought of from the water beside the beds to the milk and water in the fridge and the yummy homemade flapjacks left on the table. The little terrace was a beautiful setting for breakfast in the sunshine. Would fully recommend this as a relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings. We will be returning.

  • I would highly recommend staying here! The cottage was clean and cosy with beautiful views. Great breakfast in the morning and the homemade bread and biscuits were lovely touches. I would love to stay here again.

  • This home-from-home is something special. A delightful self-contained annex in the main houses' garden, where you can park just outside the door. Excellently appointed room and en-suite, plenty of room, with all the expected facilities and more, and a lovely view to the hills. Plenty of tea & coffee and fresh milk, yummy home-made flapjack, bread and preserves. Frances is a brilliant host - very nice breakfast served in the room, with vegetarians well catered for. For us it was an ideal base for us and our dog, who Frances and her dog, Toby, made very welcome, letting us walk the dog in the fields (N.B. sheep loose in field - be responsible!). And two excellent pubs in the village. Cannot fault the place at all, what are you waiting for - book it now!!! (Unless you like noise, traffic, bright lights, crowds, etc.) In summary, it will be our accommodation of choice next time we are in the area. Many thanks, Frances.

  • This is a great place to stay if you are visiting the North Yorks area. Location is good, handily placed to walk into Ampleforth or drive/cycle to the many attractive towns and features nearby. The accommodation is bright and airy, clean and comfortable, in a lovely farmhouse setting. Frances and Simon were genuinely friendly and helpful hosts and provided a number of nice touches for our room. Good parking space. Would highly recommend.

  • If you are looking for a place to stay you should look no further. We had a fantastic stay at Frances's cottage. The cottage itself is gorgeous, there was a wood burning stove up and running so it was nice and cosy on our arrival. Everything within is perfectly organised, Frances even provided chargers for the phones, plenty of books, dvds, water, logs for the fire. The linen smelled so gorgeous and so fresh. Breakfast...out of this world. If you are anything like me then you will appriciate, fresh free range eggs so yellow and tasty it will blow your mind! Homemade loaf of bread so delicious that it will make you never want to buy a bread again-just bake it yourself! And omg-home made jams were unbelievable! Location is perfect, walking distance to the local pub with a real fire, great menu and a great atmosphere. Chatting to local residents is so easy and every one is so friendly ( dog friendly as well) The village itself is absolutely goereous, amazing views and if you love picture perfect houses and scenery then you will be in heaven here! The owners-we had a pleasure of meeting Frances and Simon. They are both very friendly and welcoming and once you stay at their cottage, you will be dreaming of coming back.

    Katie2015-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Frances and Simon have created an extra piece of heaven in this already sublimely beautiful part of the world. My wife and I had a truly great time staying here. Our hosts showed incredible hospitality and the accommodation was perfect in every single respect. We would return in a very short heartbeat.

My place is in the Centre of Helmsley very quiet with great views but close to shops, galleries, restaurants and Duncombe Park. It is a lovely homely house, great for couples, families and small groups, who want to explore North Yorkshire. Well behaved dogs allowed . The adjacent property, Feversham Cottage, 2 Stonegarth can be let with this property. It is ideal for two families that want privacy but can come together for meals etc

There is a separate dining room with seating for 8. The sitting room is adjacent with two comfy sofas and an armchair. There is also the addition of a sunroom on the side of the property with sofas and chairs so you can relax with your wine in the evening sun. Upstairs there is one bedroom with a king size bed, a further bedroom with 2 divan beds that can be put together for a double, with its own sink and a further bedroom with 2 single beds. It is extremely attractive with an abundance of restaurants all within walking distance. Amazing walks can be taken from the property or if you jump in the car the walks are just unlimited and stunning. Located in a very quiet, pleasant cul de sac behind the award winning Feversham Arms with its exclusive Sp. It is a stone's throw from the historic centre of Helmsley, a delightful market town nestling in the foothills of the North Yorkshire Moors. Helmsley has excellent shops, cafes, restuarants and a weekly market. The local attractions of Rievaulx Abbey, Duncombe Park with the International Centre for Birds of Prey, Helmsley castle and walled gardens are all within walking distance of the property. This is a perfect location for visiting the surrounding areas of, Ryedale, York and the attractive North Yorkshire coastline including Robins Hood Bay and Whitby. There are also Riding Schools located within Helmsley, Sinnington and further afield. • A very clean and beautiful cottage. We were a group of 5 adults visiting the area after a coast to coast cycle ride. Unfortunately we didn't arrive at the cottage until late evening and could not make full use of the facilities. A well presented cottage in a wonderful part of the world. Hope to return soon.

  • Very nice, confortable, clean and quiet property in Helmsley. Advisable place to stay!!!!

    Francisco2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was ideal. It was spacious and had all we needed. We had three teenagers with us - so internet, two tvs, and barbecue were appreciated! It is close to the attractions of the village, but much of our week was spent on trips to castles (Pickering, Scarborough), abbeys (Rievaulx, Whitby, Ampleforth), coasts and moorland. We also went to Go-Ape at Darby, and spent a day in York. The location is excellent and we hope to come back. We will certainly recommend it to others.

    Neil2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • A well equipped house in the heart of Helmsley in North Yorkshire. Everything you could possibly need, a home from home!! Parking onsite. Quiet neighbourhood. Beautiful, peaceful gardens to sit in as well. Absolutely ideal for our 9 day stay. Helmsley has many independent shops and a few nice pubs and restaurants and the cottage was perfect for what we needed. You will need a car, as a Helmsley itself whilst really nice, is not close to any major attractions.

    Laura2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We've been staying in rented accommodation for more than 40 years and this was definitely one of the best ever. Amanda was prompt and responsive in her replies, and coped with our changing schedule due to injury with sympathy and without batting an eyelid. The cottage is a good size, really well equipped (it has weighing scales for cooking), is in a delightful situation with a view to the countryside but still within 2 minutes of the town centre and is light. clean and comfy. We cannot recommend Amanda's cottage more highly.

Station House is in a wonderful corner of North Yorkshire, with lovely views, fantastic walks and cycle rides and stunning stately homes and abbeys close by. A stream runs through the village. But best of all is a great pub serving award-winning food just over the road. Good for families and couples wanting to take time out to explore. York is 20 miles away, Helmsley is six miles away and the coast just a forty minute drive. Ampleforth Abbey is close by as is Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall.
Station House is an old railway station which has been brought up to date as a much-loved family home. It centres around a large kitchen/dinning/sitting room which has a big, range cooker, a woodburner-style fire and plenty of eating and slouching space. Upstairs there are three bedrooms - a grown-up double, a single and a third room which has single bed as well as a very high-quality pull-out trunkle bed. There's a medium-sized bathroom with bath and shower serving the whole house. Downstairs, there's a small laundry room.
Gilling East is a very pretty village on the lower reaches of the Ampleforth Valley. It's in an area of outstanding natural beauty and there's lots to do if you like the outdoors, gorgeous scenery and heritage-style attractions such as stately homes, abbeys and quaint villages. York is a 30 minute drive away and you can get to the coast in 40 minutes. One of the nicest things about the area is the food. There is a great pub in the village itself as well as well-known destination places such as the The Star Inn in Harome close by. One of our favourite places is the tearooms in Hovingham which we like to cycle to over the back lane. Ampleforth Abbey is interesting to look around, as are the lovely Byland and Rievaulx Abbeys.
  • Great location and space for a family including a dog. Very relaxing.

    Anita2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • A really beautiful and peaceful location. Just what we wanted for a few days of relaxation, yet with masses to do in the near vicinity. We loved the North York Moors Railway, Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey and the beautiful countryside. Excellent village pub. The house oozes quality and is very comfortable and well equipped.

    Christopher2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house and location - handy for local attractions within a short drive - host is very helpful, happy to stay again.

  • We had a great stay at station house over Christmas. Everything we needed was provided. Location is lovely with a great pub in the village.

  • Great place to stay, the house is very comfortable and has everything you will need. Dog proof garden!! There is a great pub walking distance from the house. Sarah was great with any questions. Would recommend 100%.

    Macarena2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • The station house is in the centre of a peaceful village, in a beautiful location, minutes walk from an award winning pub. It is a well equipped and very comfortable house with a lovely garden surrounded by fields. It felt like a real home away from home which made our stay feel very relaxing. We used it as a base to visit the moors, the coast and explore the Howardian Hills, all of which are easily accessible. It's spacious and comfortable to come home to at the end of a long walk. We had a perfect break.

    Hugo2017-06-03T00:00:00Z

Cosy cottage located in the North York Moors National Park with gorgeous big skies! A super base for exploring castles, abbeys, wonderful villages and the Heritage coast. Spoilt for choice in eateries from great local pubs to Michelin starred restaurants all with a 10 mile radius. Many guests comment on how peaceful and calm their stay has been. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with children), and furry friends (pets).
  • An amazing place in a great location with beautiful views of North Yorkshire

    Andrew2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful stay in a great apartment like cottage on the beautiful Sutton bank. Sutton bank is a little bit windy and cold but the views are spectacular and access to the Yorkshire moor is easy. We especially advise to drive to Whitby via the Blakey road through Hutton-le-Hole. Helmsley being close by is a really nice little town. Whitby and Yok over crowded in the summer, Robin Hood’s bay was much more fun.

  • We stayed for 2 nights and Alex's cottege was everything we needed. Cosy, full of character and perfect for a quiet weekend away. It was immaculatly clean with breakfast supplies which were a nice touch. Location is great for exploring North Yorkshire and only 20 miles from Dalby forest which have regular outdoor gigs. We will deffinately stay again.

  • Alex was a great host, making us all feel very welcome indeed. She was very knowledgable about the surrounding area and was very generous with her time. The cottage is beautiful as is the location.

    Steven2016-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • We very much liked the location of the cottage as we wanted to do some walking in the area, and were able to do this from the house. We loved the cottage - very warm and relaxing, and Alex had left us everything we needed for breakfast. Would definitely come back!

    Chris2016-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely welcome from Alex with a birthday message for me and even a cake plus candle! The house is delightful, we loved it, everything comfortable and cosy. Car parking right outside the front door and a very easy stroll into the historic town. Alex helped us when we got a punctured tyre and we needed her local knowledge. Recommended.

    Vicky2016-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a 'to die for' romantic beamed cottage, set in one of Yorkshire's - no, perhaps England's - most beautiful villages. Everything about it is idyllic from the layout and style of the interior to the beamed sloping rooves of the bedroom. We found ourselves falling in love with the place so much we had to drag ourselves away at the end of the stay. We shall definitely be back for a longer stay! And added to everything, butter, biscuits, bread and milk laid out for our arrival. Perfect!!

    James2016-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Alex's Airbnb was perfect, wouldn't change a thing! Lovely cosy stone cottage, very well located for exploring Helmsley and for day trips. Alex was away when we arrived but she arranged for someone else to let us in to the house, who made sure we had everything we needed. Would recommend to anyone planning a trip to the North York Moors!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Pear Tree Cottage. The cottage was lovely, and matched the description perfectly. Louise was kind enough to leave milk and biscuits for our arrival, which was a nice surprise! She was also easy to contact and was flexible with our arrival time, which was much appreciated. The whole process was very smooth and Louise recommended some lovely places for us to visit during our stay. Overall, a great experience - we wish we had stayed for longer! Thank you!

  • We had a wonderful week long stay at Pear Tree Cottage with our toddler and dog. Louise was the perfect host, very welcoming and helpful but unobtrusive. The cottage itself it beautifully renovated with all the modern facilities you could need. Our daughter loved being able to see the chickens, sheep and horses. Great location too, away from all the hustle and bustle but easy to get to many places of interest. The local pub doesn't let you down either!

  • A truly wonderful holiday experience. The house itself was just as described, but even lovelier! Clean, cosy, practical, comfortable. We are a family of 3 kids (8, 4, 0) and it was perfect. The tennis court outside was a dream, and the village itself is amazing with a pub walking distance away which serves amazing food. Beautifully situated in stunning countryside in an area of outstanding natural beauty yet close to York and the market town of Easingwold. Spacious comfortable accommodation ideal for a couple wanting to relax and discover the delights of Yorkshire.
Close House Cottage is very spacious and is often described as 'a home from home' by guests.
There are plenty of excellent walks starting from or near Close House Cottage, including the Foss Way that leads to York. We are also centrally situated for Scarborough, Filey, Harrogate, Leeds, the Dales and the Moors and, of course, historic York.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Close House. We arrived very late but we easily gained access to the beautifully decorated, well equipped, and extremely comfortable cottage. In the morning we awoke to see a delightful rural setting with close proximity to the lovely walks, villages, and breath taking sights of the Howardian Hills and the North York Moors. Our five day stay should have been a month. Lastly, Paula was a friendly, very helpful, and accessible host. She provided us with needed maps and advice and even called the nearby Durham Ox (great pub) to make a reservation. Many thanks to Paula for helping to make our visit memorable. We want to return soon!

Food, Drink & Shopping In Helmsley itself, we have an abundance of independent café’s, restaurants, pubs, hotels and even our own brewery with its own public bar. Check out www.visithelmsley.co.uk for detailed information. We are a big “Foody-Area” including 2 Michelin-Starred Restaurants – The Black Swan at Oldstead (www.blackswanoldstead.co.uk) and The Star Inn at Harome (www.thestaratharome.co.uk) – Both just a short drive or taxi-ride. In town we have traditional English Restaurants like The Feathers, The Black Swan and The Feversham Arms and Gepetto’s Italian, Scott’s Fish & Chip Restaurant and Helmsley spice Indian Restaurant.

Every possible convenience - washer/dryer, game room, tennis court, patio - we could have stayed for a month! Louise provided helpful information on the area and made us feel right at home immediately.

  • Lovely cosy cottage with excellent facilities, we really enjoyed having the tennis courts and there were plenty of books, DVDs etc to keep you occupied on a rainy day. Kitchen very well equipped and there is also a handy laundry room and a games room. The surroundings are lovely and only a short drive to Helmsley with plenty of shops for food etc. Lots of things to see and do within 15-20 minutes drive and well placed for trips into York as well. Local pub was good. Would happily visit again.
