Sabura It’s a African expression that means good life , moments of joy and happiness, wich is what we aim to make you enjoy during your stay with us. In casa Sabura, we wish to give our guests a true costa rican living experience, where all your worries get left behind, time stops and the Sabura can be enjoyed. Casa Sabura is an charming balinese style house decorated with recycled and hand crafted furniture from Africa, Asia and Costa Rica. Situated just a few steps from the wonderful Avellanas Beach (1 min driving-10 min walking). This 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house features a private pool, a wrap around deck and outdoor lounging areas with BBQ. Casa Sabura is custom built with floor to ceiling windows all around the house. There are 2 large bedrooms upstairs, 1 bedroom downstairs, each with a sliding door out to the wraparound porch, split-level A/C units, and queen/king size beds. The property is full of beautiful trees and plants. The wildlife is simply wonderful. Enjoy your morning coffee while the monkeys climb from tree to tree and the parrots fly overhead. Avellanas Beach has great waves for surfers of all types. From the reef in front of the parking lot to the miles of beach breaks and even all the way down to the Avellanas Rivermouth. Any level of surfer can find what they are looking for in Avellanas. Also one of the most famous restaurants in Costa Rica, Lola's sits right on the beach at the end of the road. The closest beaches around are Playa Negra and Junquillal. Tamarindo is located 25min driving from the house, which the most touristy place around with nightlife, shops, restaurants, supermarkets etc.
  • Casa Sabura was truly a dream. The architecture of the house alone was so breathtaking we were tempted to stay on the property all weekend. The design within the home is as beautiful as the exterior composition, complete with a well-stocked kitchen (everything you need to cook a good meal), comfortable beds, and an awesome bathroom. Thankfully, we went out and explored the awesome town of Avellanas as well. When you visit Casa Sabura (because you most definitely should), be sure to spend your days lounging in your private pool, relaxing in one of the two comfortable hammocks, or grabbing a bite to eat down at Lola's on the beach. We left this trip feeling energized, and we hope to be able to visit again someday. Andre and Rita were great hosts who made the house look pristine when we arrived and checked in every now and then to make sure our trip was going well. Thanks for the awesome vacation!

  • Casa Sabura is a lovely house. Andre was very responsive and went out of his way to accommodate our needs. The house is comfortable and well equipped. Playa Avellanas is just down the road. We ate at Lola's and enjoyed the food but would especially recommend it at sunset. Tamarindo is a quick drive away with tons of activities. We did a night turtle nesting tour and a day of Marlin fishing and would highly recommend both. We also hit playa conchal which was a bit more take for swimming and relaxing. All of the house guides were helpful. There are monkeys, birds and iguanas right around the house and a friendly neighborhood dog stopped by for a visit even. Overall a wonderful place to stay and we would recommend it to anyone.

  • Andre and Rita´s villa is incredibly beautiful and well situated close to the beach and Lolas restaurant. We greatly appreciated the pool when returning to the house after a long day in the ocean or a jungle excursion. We made good use of the hamacs and outdoor dining area for Bbq and yoga sessions. We enjoyed the sounds and sights of the jungle: iguanas, hurling monkeys...We were very greatful for the good advises offered by Fabrice regarding restaurants, beaches and excursions. Finally, the daijy visits by the gardener assured us the use of a clean pool and outside facilities. We highly recommend the Casa Sabura for a very peaceful stay in Costa rica!

  • I loved the style of the house. It's exactly what I wanted for our first visit to Costa Rica. Conveniently located to Playa Avellanas, a beautiful beach. A/C worked well. The private dinner & photos were a great way to end the week. Andre & Rita are incredibly hospitable and talented. I would only recommend mentioning that the beach can't really be walked to in the description because of the dusty roads.

    Katie2017-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • We truly enjoyed our stay at Casa Sabura! Fabrice was very helpful throughout our stay. The house was a delightful escape from the tourist filled Tamarindo but was a short enough drive that we could enjoy it at will. Although we traveled during the rainy off season the weather each day was amazing. 5 days was too short a stay so we will definitely be returning soon. As for the house it self, everything is accurate as described and pictured. Beautiful full length windows and natural wood design bringing the outdoors in. Ants and bugs were expected due to the location. We rented a car so that we could explore other areas. Tamarindo was a short 25min drive with lots of activities, yummy restaurants (Patagonia was a fav), and great shopping. Playa Conchal was about 1 hour from the house with the most amazing beach and the best food (Soda Brasilito). Overall I would certainly suggest staying here! Gives the true feel of Costa Rica!

  • This place is great!! Casa Sabura is a very beautiful home. There is one queen, one full, and two twin mattresses to accommodate your group. The setting is incredible being right in the middle of the jungle and still so close to the beach. BRING BLANKETS AND TOWELS! That was truly the only issue we had. The kitchen is well stocked except for cutting knives. The Wi-Fi is sufficient considering how remote it is. We were able to stream movies at night on our iPad. The pool is a great feature that we enjoyed immensely! For restaurants I'd recommend Lola's for a higher end experience, Gregorio's for authentic dishes, Vida Buena for healthy options or pizza, and Las Olas for breakfast. Be sure to rent a 4x4 vehicle as the roads in the area are all dirt and unpredictable.

  • We arrived at Casa Sabura later in the evening and was fortunate enough to be guided by Fabrice to Casa Sabura safe and sound. We didn't have the opportunity to meet Andre and Rita but they checked in with us via email and provided us with an adequate support system in case we needed anything during our stay. The home itself was even prettier than the pictures. It was a great setup for 5 adults as the patio and pool area were great for those lazy evenings sharing dinner outside and enjoy time togher. On the other hand, the home provided us with ample space to have some alone time if you need be. The area surrounding the home was quiet and isolated from the touristy areas which we welcomed for this type of Holiday. That being said, if you are seeking some nightlife and boutique shops this location will not be your cup of tea. The plus side of being located in a more rustic setting were evident to us early on. We were walking distance (15-20min) to the beautiful beach and some great spots to grab lunch or do some surfing at Playa Avallenas. We experienced a great Holiday!!!

  • If you are looking for a place near Tamarindo, look no further. Andre and Rita's house is spectacular and was the perfect jungle home for us during our stay. It was only two of us but there was room for at least three couples, two nice sized bedrooms up stairs and one downstairs right next to the pool. There is also a small portable BBQ grill, table, chairs and two hammocks, it made the pool experience so much nicer. Plus the outside shower and the bathroom downstairs made coming from the beach and then jumping into the pool a breeze. We spent whole days just lounging around the house, swimming in the pool and napping in the master bedroom with a full view of the jungle. One day we even saw two monkeys swing down into the tree outside our window and watched them nap and chill out in the tree, it was pretty special. We'd never been to Costa Rica before but we would highly recommend you stay in Avellanas, rent a car and explore the area that way and this is the perfect house to stay at. If you don't feel like driving it's a quick 15min walk to the beach and Lola's a good but touristy restuarant on the beach. There is also a 'Soda' or restaurant and bar that serves typical Costa Rican food in walking distance as well, which we never ate at but looked awesome. Lastly, right next to Lola's is the Beach Box, they had some of the best food in the whole area at a good price. So yeah, the place is amazing, the area is amazing and we couldn't have been more happy with our stay!

Our place is between Playa Avellanas and Playa Negra, two of the best surf beaches in CR. It's a simple place, but clean, with kitchen, bathroom, eating area, and a great rooftop sitting area as well. The beach is a 200 meter walk straight down the road from the house. The bus to town goes by twice a day. We just put AC in the house and two more windows. It's a great studio to stay in, relaxing and right down the path to the beach.
  • Love the place! Comfy and close to the beach. Big property and beautiful surroundings.Highly recommend it for a surf trip. Friendly host

Pura Vida!

The house is a large container. This located in Guanacaste, near Avellanas beach and Negra beach. It is located on main street leading to Tamarindo beach and Avellanas beach. It offers comfort and style on the beach. It offers air conditioning, internet free and cable TV. Fully equipped with private bathroom, kitchen, dishes, microwave, refrigerator, hot water. This house type container has a deck in front of the property for reading or tanning and a rooftop on a second floor with mountain view.
It is a luxurious and comfortable container for your rest and enjoyment in these beautiful beaches. One of the most visited by surfers in Guanacaste.
It is a very quiet neighborhood, special for rest, inhabited by people very friendly and willing to help as soon as they are asked.
  • If you're looking for a unique vacation experience, the Tesla house is a great place to stay. The shipping container is the perfect size for a small family or a few close friends. It's closely located to one of the most beautiful beaches (Avellanas), as well as some amazing restaurants (Mauna Loa has the most fabulous Italian food). It has all the necessities, including an outdoor shower for that post beach rinse off. The patio is divine for sunny or rainy days. Susana, who helps manage the property, lives next door and helps with anything you need. Rodrigo was in constant contact via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) and was very helpful. All in all a great place and highly recommended.

    Joy2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Rodrigo's place is fantastic if you're looking for a nice place away from everything. It is well equipped, the space in the container is very well divided and has all amenities of a real house. Rodrigo's communication is fantastic and neighbor Susana and her family were super helpful in Rodrigo's absence. We initially booked for just one night but decided to stay on for the full week. I would definitely recommend this place!!!

    Katja2017-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • I already gave Rodrigo a review since we first booked for one night only. We decided to extend for another 6 nights and we couldn't have been happier with the place. I would definitely recommend!

    Ann-Sofie2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • The place is great! Very modern and cozy container home. The hosts were very helpful and responsive. Only qualm was that we were a bit further from the beach than we'd anticipated, our fault, not theirs!

    Dillon2017-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • The place was amazing. Will definitely visit again.

    Neel2017-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Cool place but remote. The family next door can give you a ride to the beach or into town but keep in mind they have a small car. If you have your own transportation this is a really affordable spot and easy to get to the beach. Really loud at night the container is not very sound proof and you are in the jungle. So expect to hear animals and insects all night long.

    Andrew2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Nice spot! Wunderschöner umgebauter Container, der alles hat, was man braucht. Auch die Kommunikation mit Rodrigo war super! Gerne wieder!

  • My brother and I had a great time with Camille and Pascal. They are a very friendly, helpful, and welcoming family. They took care of us very well during our stay and helped us arrange activities which was so easy and lots of fun! The place was beautiful and was a relaxing oasis in the jungle! I'd be more than happy to stay again! Merci beaucoup

  • Camille and Pascal were very gracious hosts and made me feel welcome immediately upon my arrival. The cabana is a 5 minute drive or a 15 minute walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. The outdoor kitchen came equipped with everything that I needed to fix breakfast, lunch and dinner. Two nearby farms provided fresh honey and yogurt, perfect for those early morning surf trips! I would recommend the cabin to a friend and would definitely come again.

  • This place was lovely. Friendly hosts, fun kitchen, totally comfortable for four, quiet and secluded location, great AC, and the hottest water in all of Costa Rica. We loved our time there.

    Alex2016-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Cabina Agua is truly beautiful. The little patio space is wonderful, the bathroom is probably better than what you use at home, and the space inside is very comfortable (for 2 people), as it is just one room. The outdoor kitchen was one of the most well-equipped that you will ever see, just be aware you are sharing it with the other Cabina.

    Amber-Leigh2017-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Camille and Pascals place. Clean and quiet with a well equipped kitchen if you want to prepare your own meals. There are restaurants close by which are quite good and we had Camille and Pascal prepare us a meal one night which was absolutely delicious. We totally enjoyed our time spent here. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

    Marion2017-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time with Camille and Pascal! The room was perfect, AC worked great (it was so hot during our stay), and Camille prepared a delicious breakfast for us both mornings we were there.

  • Camille and Pascal are wonderful hosts. They made us feel welcome and offered help with booking reservations on a sunset cruise we took out of Tamarindo. I would highly recommend staying at the cabinas. Playa Avenallas was breathtakingly beautiful. They have a well equipped kitchen and even offer to cook meals for very affordable price.

  • Camille and Pascal'a place is amazing! If you are looking for a relaxing tranquil piece of paradise look no further and stay here! I had the most relaxing peaceful vacation thanks to my stay with Camille and Pascal. Camille and Pascal are very friendly and where very helpful in helping me get oriented in Costa Rica and provided some amazing suggestions of places to visit. When I got sunburned they offered me aloe from their beautiful garden. They are very kind wonderful people. The casa is modern and clean with warm showers and a beautiful deck to sit on and listen to all the wildlife from. The beach is a short walk from the Casa through a quiet neighborhood and then through the most beautiful mangrove forest. The beach is so quiet and tranquil and perfect for talking long walks on and laying out reading a book. I don't surf however, the surfers seem to love this secluded quiet beach and I was told it has really good waves. As a female traveling alone, I felt so safe and comfortable at Camille and Pascal's place and that was really important to me. I will definitely be returning to stay with them again!

  • Natalia was a wonderful host, She and her family are great. They really know how to take care of customers. She has a helper that lives at the Camp her name is Mizty, I hope I spelled that right, she is 100% natural and a great help all the time. Anything you want to know about nature Mizty can tell you about. Natalia and Alex have built a little camp close to Avellanas Beach, where SURFING is the number one attraction. Natalia has put a lot of love in her place and she is in constant search on how to make her customers more comfortable. She is a non-stop designer and is right now building a space for guests to have an enjoyable space as a group. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are basically equipped. water comes from an elevated tank, and a worm shower is always lovely, after a long day at the beach which is at walk-able distance. Rooms accommodate a little family and a couple in two separate rooms that open to the pool site. Water is a treasure in these lands, but Natalia has managed to install a marvelous pool, with a very nice recycling water system and great lights colors can be set at your wish. Natalia set up our breakfast in a place close by. We were treated like kings for breakfast everyday, wonderful coffee and excellent LOCAL Costa Rican Food. To tell you the truth I have never been treated with such a good breakfast in any other airbnb that I have stayed. Breakfast was a super plus amenity staying at Natalia's. We brought groceries to prepare light food, but if we go around there are some good places with nice prices to have a very good lunch or dinner. Our friends that went with us, live in Costa Rica and are planning to go back to visit Natalia's Camp an Oasis in Guanacaste. We fully recommend Natalia's place and we are planning also in our calendar our next trip to Natalia's camp.

She even met me at Lola's to bring me a surfboard when no rentals were available. Her family has built a wonderful secluded property. The pool is a great addition as well.

The "Jungle Lodge" is a private dwelling on our tropical forest retreat. We are within walking distance to a colorful rural community of fishermen, surfers, artists and cowboys (Playa Negra and Avellanas.) We are also blessed with a secluded local beach a short walk away on the pristine Pacific ocean. Hand-built with hardwoods from our land, the second floor lodge is like a tree house immersed in nature with wildlife all around- monkeys, parrots, iguanas, & lots more.
The “Jungle Lodge" is an upstairs apartment in a totally private tropical house. The lower floor is unoccupied. Nestled privately on nine acres of forested land next to a seasonal creek, it is a 5 minute walk down a tree-lined lane to pristine Lagartillo beach. The open air floor plan, which feels like you are in a tree house, features a ready to use kitchen with ceramic tile countertops, 4 burner gas range, refridgerator, stainless sink, pots and pans, and all utensils for cooking and eating. The Guanacaste trees towering overhead and large screened windows on all four walls provide excellent natural cooling and light. Included is a queen size bed and a single bed, clothes closet, kitchen table, fans, wireless internet, washing machine (on the palm patio). The arty magic mushroom shaped bath house offers a cool shower with a view through colorful, jungle portholes. Hand-built by the owner, Maicol, with hardwoods off the land, the tropical house is surrounded by wildlife with 360 degree views of the peaceful (Casamaicol) retreat where the family has worked and lived since 1994. It is very restful, a meeting of birds, howler monkeys, and the ocean. From the faucets comes pure water from an underground spring. It is healthy and tastes excellent. The palm covered porch is spacious (22 by 50 feet). It has hammocks, a picnic table and is great for yoga and deep relaxation. Peaceful sleeping.
This is a small, rural, beach community of fishermen, surfers, and cowboys, where everyone knows everyone else. Visitors are surprised by the friendliness of the locals. One feels a warmer and more sincere reception than some other more touristy places. The famous surf spot, Playa Negra, from the movie, "Endless Summer Two", is a half mile to the south. The broad, white-sand beach, Avellanas, lies only a quarter mile to the north. Just beyond that is “Little Hawaii” a perfect right wave. We are located right in between these two beach communities. At our Lagartillo beach, which is 300 meters directly in front of us, the outer reefs protect the shore from waves and the fishing boats are anchored at little Punta Pargos. The calm water is favored by many of our guests with children who enjoy immersing in the warm tide pools while they watch the sunset over the westerly ocean. In the nearby village of Los Pargos, which is adjacent to Playa Negra, there are two small grocery stores while popular Las Tecas offers a wide selection of international products such as virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sea salt, brown rice. Wine and beer. Quite eclectic choices. Also in Los Pargos is a skate board park. There are SUP board rentals and tours offered, surfboard shops, and bike rentals. There are at least a dozen good restaurants in the pueblo offering a wide range of cuisine and snacks. For those lazy days we enjoy having a beer at Hotel Playa Negra which has an especially fine atmosphere directly in front of a world class surf break. There is a beach volleyball court, the games are on Wednesdays(URL HIDDEN)If one wishes to wander northward to Avellanas, then traverse around the rocky point along the beach or take the high trail on the bluffs which offers a spectacular view of the Pacific ocean. Lolas, the open air beach side restaurant, is named after the gigantic body surfing Pig. Margaritas can be enjoyed beneath cool palms. Just walk another hundred meters to the estuary where a long boardwalk crosses the wetland reserve to Las Olas restaurant. On the beach road is the Beach Box where you can find affordable burritos and good down home cooking. There is no lack of rustic old Tico style cantinas if you search to quench your thirst. There are hiking trails through the forest that lead from one coastal oasis to the next. If you prefer the economy, healthiness and convenience (and fun) of preparing your own meals, we are glad to assist our guests to find groceries. Delivery trucks come to our property selling inexpensive fruit and vegetables and sea food. Eating in Guanacaste is an experience in itself. In the months between December and June are the civic fiestas. Each small town in the area takes their turn in hosting the peculiar Costa Rican style of bull fight, where any man can enter the ring and challenge the bull. For the events the town inhabitants build a wooden rodeo ring, taking it down the same week. The bull always wins.
  • We loved the feeling of sleeping in a treehouse! The sunrise was beautiful to wake up to and the birds and monkeys were an excellent alarm clock. The beautiful beach is a short drive away and feeling like we were off the grid was awesome. The magic mushroom bathroom was so cool and creative. It was also nice to have wifi when we needed to plan out our next adventure. Thank you Maicol for the wonderful stay!

  • Highly recommended! This cabin is a great place to get away and enjoy beautiful, scenic beaches. The cabin Maicol built himself and is unique and relaxing. We stayed in the upper level with the kitchen and two beds. The water is fed from a well so feel comfortable drinking it. There is a ceiling fan and a fan near the bed which was perfect. The bathroom was in a cob hut outside and downstairs. There are hammocks, a picnic table, a clothesline and washing machine on the covered porch below with a place to wash your feet. There are howler monkeys and mango trees all over the area and its about a 6-7 minute walk to the Los Pargos beach. Its about a 30 minute walk on the beach to Playa Avellena and 35 minute walk on the road to Playa Negra. Along the road are a few hotels/hostels/restaurants. The beaches and sunsets are gorgeous. There sand changes as you go between white, black, and covered in small shells. Depending on if it's high tide or not, the water can be crystal clear and waves can be great for learning to surf. Along that walk, you'll be close to a corner store if you want to pick up a few food things. A fruit and vegetable truck comes about once per week and a fish truck also comes once per week. Maicol is an excellent host. He was really welcoming. It's also incredibly helpful that he is bilingual. He had cinnamon rolls in the fridge for us when we came, got a friend to give us discounted surf lessons at Playa Avellana, he had several friends he referred for surf lessons or stand up paddleboard. Maicol and his daughter love going for treats in their jeep to the local market and took us with him a bunch of times. We also got to go with him for a trip to the beach with his daughter for swimming and to practice surfing which was one of our favorite parts. Important tips: Clean up and don't leave out food or bugs will come. Bring groceries before you come. The wifi goes in and out. You will have a significant advantage if you can speak Spanish. The stove and oven are gas lit and there is a tray you remove at the bottom of the stove to light the oven. Taxis will come about an hour later than you think they will. The food at Lola's at Avellena is overpriced. The directions that Maicol lists are from the direction of Playa Negra area and you will probably get lost trying to find the pole outside his house. The pole that says Casa de Maicol is written vertically in blue. Local people will know where his house is.

  • This is literally one notch up from camping in a tent. If you are not okay with bugs, lizards, spiders, monkeys, cats, rain, seclusion, getting dirty, walking long distances, and having to cook every day this isn't for you. I myself enjoyed the small community, seclusion and wild life. A meat and produce truck came once during my 5 day stay. I bought enough to last my stay. I would recommend preparing all of your meals rather than walking 15-30 min to a restaurant. The beach is a 5 min walk away from the lodge. Maicol was an amazing host, picked us up from the air port and let us stop by a store to buy some necessities. He was always available for anything we needed or just friendly interaction. There is also a lovely couple that live on the land who also were nothing but amazing and accommodating. This Hiatus was definitely a humbling experience, I would do it again P.S. BRING BUG REPELLENT! if you want to live off the grid stay here lol

  • Wow, what great experience! I was looking for an authentic 'expat experience' and that's exactly what I got, Maicol's property is so serene. It really feels like a jungle-surfer's getaway. Just a couple minutes walk to a secluded beach, but not too far a walk from beaches where there are people and restaurants. His property sits on the outskirts of a small surf village with restaurants and a couple stores if you want to buy and bring food back to the lodge. Also, there are food delivery trucks that arrive every week, locally sourced fresh fruits, vegetables, cheeses, daily fresh caught fish. Maicol himself was the most gracious and helpful of hosts, far exceeding my expectations of what an Airbnb host should do to make their guest(s) stay comfortable, educational, and fun! I would recommend this experience to anyone looking for an authentic Costa Rican getaway. This is a rustic getaway experience, not a mani-pedi mud-mask and cucumber spa like getaway. Be prepared to come face to face with the local wildlife. Some really amazing creatures call his property home too!

  • The place is exactly as described. Jeffrey was always willing to answer my questions about how to get there, etc. We felt really confortable at the 2 houses we rented for my family and my in-laws. The place is really close to the beach (by car), very secluded and peaceful. I would recommend anyone looking for a place to really relax, enjoy a beautiful beach and not worry about anything else.

  • This rental is just as described in the pictures. It is simple, rustic and very peaceful. The pool was the perfect temperature, and it is in a very remote and quiet location. This is perfect for couples and was a romantic location to spend a few days.

  • Jeffrey was very nice, helpful and accommodating. The houses are great, a mix between rustic and modern, very comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen and very nice bedrooms and bathrooms. It was all we expected and more. The pool is fantastic, and though you share the space with the other houses and guests, it still feels very private and quiet. We prepared dinner at the house and bbq'd by the pool. The place was perfect for our family vacation. Mauricio was very kind and extremely attentive. Muchisimas gracias Mauricio & Jeffrey! We will be back again soon.

Holy Tree Avellana is a private rental house in Avellana Beach Costa Rica, well known for his world class quality waves, with more than 50 surfable spots around and just 89km from the international airport Daniel Oduber Quiros in Liberia Guanacaste.
Holy Tree Avellana consists of 2 independent private houses fully air conditioned with space for 6 people with all the amenities of modern life, private swimming pool, wifi, parking, bbq, etc.
  • Daniel was a great guy and really easy to deal with! We had another family staying in the other building on the lot so it wasn't private but we still had a great time. Close enough to the beach if you have a rental car but wouldn't recommend walking because the roads are not paved and very dusty when cars go by.

    Branden2017-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel is a perfect host, always ready to help, i would recommend this house to my best friend.

    Stephanie2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Holy Tree was beautiful. Danny was wonderful. Super accommodating and welcoming. He brought us to a nearby surf spot with the most incredible boardwalk we've ever seen. Gave us lots of tips for our future travels over the following few days and greeted us with fruits from the garden. The house is gated adding that extra security and peace of of mind. I highly recommend Holy Tree. Everything was perfect.

    Janelle2017-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great house, nice furnishings and a good beach house vibe. We loved the outdoor area - with a pool, outdoor BBQ, couches and swings for the kids. Playa Avellanas is a beautiful beach and a very chilled out and undeveloped town. Make sure you check out Lola's cafe on the beach. A car is necessary and a 4wd might be a good idea as there are plenty of dirt roads and potholes. Daniel was a wonderful host, very friendly and welcoming, even helping us change a flat tyre! This is a great place perfect for a relaxing beach holiday.

    Erica2016-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • The host was extremely accommodating, which allowed for a very smooth experience at the property. It was easy to find and the beach nearby was excellent. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful and the home was great.

    Elik2015-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Daniel's place for two nights and had an amazing experience! He was a great host that even went out his way to give me some Papaya, Yuca and even a small Mango tree that was grown right on his property! I have a small piece of land close to his house and we planted some Yuca and the small Mango tree on it the day Daniel was so generous! I will for sure be back to stay with Daniel in the near future!

    Justin2017-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property with a Great location! Clean and safe. Nice swimming pool and garden. Wifi and BBQ area available. Super friendly host. Highly recommend!!!

    Gaby2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Danny's place, close to Playa Avenellas which is an incredible surfing/swimming/walking beach. The location is remote which has it's pros and cons- you are a 15-20 min drive from the Tamarindo fun/chaos. There are okay options for eating out close by but the house itself is well equipped for cooking at home. Danny is a great host and committed to helping you have the best vacation possible- we were very happy with his surf school recommendation. The only real knock against this place is that the property is not very large and the two houses are very close in proximity, so there is not a ton of privacy with whoever else is staying across the pool (either the host/his family or another guest).

Walk into Beach Walk & fall in love w/its charm & warmth such as: teak ceilings, galley kitchen, modern finishes, spacious washroom w/shower & 2 very airy tropical bedrooms (AC). All designed for the ease of living, entertainment and paradise!
Beach Walk is located in a very secluded quiet area so if you're looking for a jungle setting you've found it. The outdoor patio is completely open to nature for your evening dinner, drinks and enjoyment. We offer AC in both bedrooms, WiFi, beach access and amazing nature at your fingertips!
Feel free to view our neighboring property (Hacienda Pinilla / JW Marriott) just to the north or our World Famous neighbors (Lola's Restaurant) to the south. You can virtually walk to each yet it's easier to drive in the AC.
  • We loved the place. It is a great place to get away from everything but close enough to Tamarindo if you want some action. Beachwalk is just a few minutes from Playa Aveyanas, you will love this beach!. The house was nice, charm and comfortable. Love the open concept. Nick was very responding, he was a great host.

  • Nick was a great host, extremely responsive and reached out with very useful information as soon as I booked my stay at Beach Walk. He always responded quickly to emails and provided useful information (surf areas, tours, restaurants, grocery stores, etc.). The house itself was exactly as described and is wonderful. The only downside to the experience was the construction from 6am to 6pm everyday that was not disclosed in the listing and not mentioned anywhere else. The construction workers lived in small bodegas right next to the site. We were surprised that none of the previous reviewers mentioned the construction. Had we known that they were completing phase 2 of the houses right across from the swimming pool, we would have booked elsewhere, especially since we were coming from the busy streets of Manhattan, NY. The area and location of Beach Walk is great for surfers. If the plan is to go surfing in the morning at dawn and at sunset or exploring the surrounding areas early morning and returning for dinner, then the construction shouldn't be an issue.

  • This house was gorgeous! Everything we needed with a little bit of luxury but secluded. Beach right down the road, monkeys within walking distance. Beautiful grounds and pool. Lovely kitchen and kind and knowledgeable neighbors. We would definitely stay here again and will be telling our family and friends about this.

  • Beachwalk Homes was a delightful, intimate community home. The house is modern, looks exactly like the pictures, and is located perfectly with walking distance to local restaurants, Lola's beach, and markets. The community pool and BBQ area were always kept clean and usable. It made for perfect hang-out time with my friends and I after a long day at the beach or touring around Tamarindo. During my stay there, we neighbored travelers from Florida and Canada who were extremely friendly and a joy to be around. The Beachwalk Homes was a bit hard to find, as many things in Costa Rica, but I advise to keep a look out for a stonewall or small wooden sign with the words "Beachwalk" on it to your right as you get closer to your destination. The most helpful way of getting there is by using the SmartPhone App 'WAZE'. The home was beautiful, Blanda was a pleasure to communicate with, and Omar was helpful in giving us recommendations for outings. The community guard dog, Lulu, was such a sweetheart! She even walked us to and from a local bar. My peers and I definitely recommend this house to anyone traveling to Guanacaste. The home is located perfectly: near Tamarindo, beaches, restaurants, and supermarkets. The house is modern, well-equipped with appliances, and comfortable for families and friends.

  • We had a most lovely comfotable stay in the beachwalk house. It was very close to the MARRIOTT where I had a conference. Omar, the caretaker was very helpful and always available when we needed help. The pool was fresh and clean. We highly recommend Beach walk house!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at beach walk. It was just what we were looking for, very peaceful and quiet. It was perfect for a weekend getaway with girlfriends. We would have liked a few conveniences, such as coffee filters and garbage bags, to have been provided. We enjoyed the pool and the beach was just a short drive down the road. Avellenas was beautiful and we had a wonderful stay at beach walk!

    Chelsea2016-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing spot! We were so happy here. Photos don't do it justice! Was a little tricky to find but the instructions and Waze app helped a lot. Thanks for having us!

    Lisa2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Blanca had an amazing house in playa avellanas. So close to the neighboring bars and restaurants and even has a market that is walking distance. Omar watches the house for Blanca he is very accommodating. There are 3 houses in the courtyard which one was empty and the other was being used. Those people were also very nice and helpful.

    Frank2016-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • We have been to this area in Costa Rica before so getting here and finding the home were not difficult. Follow all the signs that say BEACHWALK and you cannot miss this Cabina. This is the third one built, one more is currently under construction (although all building had been stopped while we visited). Blanca was easy to get a hold of and quick to respond. The SKY tv was not working at one point and I messaged Blanca - she was quick to respond and take care of it for me. We did not have the password for the wifi but Omar (the grounds keeper) gave us the password for another Cabina for us to use. I am sure Blanca will get this sorted for the next visit. There is a Wasp nest close by and the Wasp's are spending a lot of time at the pool. I noticed another reviewer of the other Cabina said the same. I am sure they can get this taken care of. Any small issues we had or needed help with Omar came to help with a phone call. Would be great if the house could have a book with information about the home to help with any questions. The kitchen was stocked so preparing food was easy. There are lots of small local restaurants to eat at in the area, a couple of small grocery stores too. Best to shop before coming to the area in one of the larger grocery stores. Yes you can walk to the beach but having a car in this area is so much more helpful. Taxi's can be difficult and expensive. We were visiting in the dry season so getting around was not difficult, just bumpy roads. We LOVE this area of Costa Rica. The natural surroundings are beautiful and even during high season are quiet. Playa Negra is close by (a 10 minute drive) it is one of our favourite spots. Sunsets and Surfing are the best. If you can splurge on a amazing dinner. Villa Deevenas, in Playa Negra was one of the best meals we ate. Enjoy your stay. We love this place.

    Susan 2015-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Blanca was a wonderful host and communicated very well from afar. Omar was the onsite coordinator and he was a gem. The beach was a good ten minute walk with a river and some mangroves in the way. Not really a 5 minute walk to the beach. If you are a surfer, the beach "trail" takes you to the break at the Estuary and Little Hawaii is just north of the river. The place was immaculate! Brand new, well stocked, with solid AC and great vibe. The pool was cool but had lots of bees due to the fact that it's very dry and the bees come for fresh water. We didn't use the grill and picnic area but that was beautiful. There were scorpions around but you will find that in ANY place in Costa Rica. I've stayed in $25 a night places with none and $150 a night and we've had them. They are everywhere in this region and it's part of life. If you can't handle that, stay in good ol 'Merica. The place has accordion doors in the front which let you open up the entire place and it's awesome. I would definitely stay here again. In fact, we may try to stay here again very soon if it's not booked up. Very well priced for what you get. We felt safe and secure. Looks like they are improving it and making it even more secure. Do it!

  • Awesome experience. This place may not be for everyone, but perfect for those who want a great Costa Rican experience. Access to the property is 10 minutes up a dirt road, but then you are 10 minutes away from everything, in the middle of your own private forest. Francisco was awesome, assisting with all our needs, especially during craziness of new years eve in Tamarindo. Thanks Fransisco!

  • Francisco was a great host. He was accomodating and informative even before we made our reservation. Upon our arrival, he met us at a local grocery store to lead us to the house. The house was as described. The location is definitely off the beaten path, and requires an adventurous drive. Francisco suggests a 4-wheel drive vehicle, and this is a good suggestion. The view from the house is incredible, and the sunsets are spectacular. It is about a 20-25 minute drive to the closest beach. The kitchen has everything you need. It is on the outside of the house, but this was not a problem. Not having air conditioning was not a problem, as with the windows open, the breeze was plenty to make us feel cool. An added bonus was our 6am wake up one morning from a howler monkey in a tree just outside our window! If you are wanting a nature filled, adventurous and rustic experience, this is the place!

  • At the end of a road, in the middle of the jungle, at the top of a mountain yet only 20 minutes from down town Tamarindo and several beautiful beaches is this unique once in a life time amazing location! No neighbors in sight and no sounds except monkeys, crickets and birds. This beautiful rain forest is immensely detoxing and nourishing. I stayed for 6 weeks and was in awe each day of the many sacred gifts of this location. I had a 4 mile loop that I ran at sunrise. Some days I switched up the running by driving to Avenalla's beach. I worked, ate, meditated and relaxed on the deck. As there are several electrical outlets on the deck I could set up my laptop anywhere. Even in heavy rain it is lovely to sit on the covered deck and take in the endless beauty. I loved the option of showering outdoors. A couple of very nice touches was that the house manager Francisco keeps yoga mats in the house for guest use. He also keeps beach chairs and a cooler and ice blocks available. I used them fir bringing breakfast to enjoy after my morning runs at the beach. Francisco is an incredibly kind and generous host. Always available when I had a question or needed something. Like when I unexpectedly needed a specific medication he found a pharmacy which had it, or when I was out driving and got lost he always picked up the phone and gave me proper directions. I am forever grateful to this house, the jungle and Francisco.

  • Amazing stay in Francisco house! You need a 4x4 (which I recommend anyway for all Costa Rica) and the location worths it : living space is in the upper level from where you live like in trees and enjoy a panoramic view. It s a charming house where you feel good and relax immediately. We planed to stay 3 nights but we finally stayed 8. We went daily to Avellanas and Negra beaches to chill out and practice surfing with kids (great safe waves to start). A word about Francisco : great host, easy going and always available to share advices if you need it.

  • We had a very nice experience staying at Francisco's treetop home. The views were spectacular! The home is very secluded and peaceful all you can hear are monkeys and the wilderness. Francisco was awesome. He truly understands hospitality and went out of his way to help us and make us feel comfortable. His house is located on a very rugged private rode that required a 4x4. Francisco recommended the 4x4 which we did not do and soon regretted, even with our mistake, Francisco made trips to pick us up and take us to the home when needed. We rate the experience 5 out of 5 stars. Re one faction for travelers: Get 4x4

  • Great place in Guanacaste jungle with ocean view. Perfect for pets and nature lovers. Francisco is super nice and we loved his dog. Our puppy had lots of fun exploring around; safe no streets super close with cars that could hit her. It’s right in the middle to get to Tamarindo and Avellanas.

Charming "Sol y Luna" 2 BDR house walk to beach. Loc. in a 60 acr organic farm secure with a 24h guard. Horse rid avail on property. Large patio. Comfortable& fully equipped. WIFI internet. 5 mn dr. to surfing spot of Negra& 20 min dr to Tamarindo.
In a 60 acre organic farm with an equestrian center in it. 24 hours care taker that is a guard at night. We are specialize on horseback riding tours on the beach and of giving horse classes to adult and kid's of Costa Rica and all around the world. The house is small but can completely fit 4 persons with 2 bedrooms and 2 queen bed. It included also 2 sofas that can transform into 2 single bed. Large patio with big hammock and plastic dining table and chairs. I lived in this house for 2 years. It's really beautiful. In deed you are going to receive the fruits of the season that our organic farm has to offer. The house is equipped with a kitchen, fridge, stove, cooking set etc.. has WiFi, fan everywhere and mosquitoes net but not AC. Trust me that i live in it for 2 years and it's really airy, high sealing and the AC it's not needed... There is all you need and a possible of maid services or a cook that can cook for you in your own house for additional fee. Massage can be arrange inside your house, also for additional fee. I really recommend you to rent a car to be independent and mobile. Taxi are not easy around here but not impossible... Our location is beautiful but a bit remote. 5 min from the community beach by cars Playa Avellanas...7 min from the amazing surfing spot of Playa Negra ..and 25 min by cars to the main activities town of the name of Tamarindo. One hours drive from Liberia international Airport.
Magical places, amazing beaches, peacefulness, wild life... I don't have enough word to describe what you will experiment. I think the best is just to come experiment and you will figure it all out once you are here! Unless you want to do a lot of activities and have very limited time.. than i would recommend to arrange it with me several weeks before your arrival. The whole idea is also to drive around, loose yourself and discover amazing places and beaches.
  • We enjoyed our stay at Finca Shambala - we would definitely stay there again. The proximity to a nice secluded beach is what we enjoyed the most, and it is conveniently located between Playa Negra and Tamarindo. Isabelle was an attentive hostess who made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. From the property photos and description, we were expecting it to be an operating equestrian center, but there are no horses on the property (although Isa did offer us horseback riding lessons at another location where her horses are currently being held.) One of the reasons this property appealed to us was because we thought it was an operational farm with horses, so I was a bit disappointed when we arrived and found out that wasn't the case. But I am still glad that we chose Finca Shambala, and we would certainly stay there again.

    Doryann2017-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Finca Shambalah. I loved waking up to the sound of howler monkeys, and watching the sunset from the pool each evening.

    erin2016-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lots of activities near by, beautiful beaches, peaceful house, Isabelle is a very welcoming host and an outstanding horseback riding instructor. Make sure to explore the property in search for the delicious fruits.

    Yury2016-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Finca is a special place- Isabelle, the host, is wonderful and the house is great. We spent a month there with three small kids- they loved having the space to explore and be kids. We traveled all over CR and the beach at Avellanas/lolas has be our favorite spot- its a five minute drive away. We also rented a beach house for four nights while in CR but we actually preferred this home over the beach house. At the beach there is a heightened level of security which requires you to lock and close all windows and doors and use a security system. At the finca you are away from all the craziness, the property is completed fenced, with a full time security guard on site. You open up the shutters and let the wind and natures sounds lule you to sleep. The caretaker and cowboy who tend the farm are great- some of the nicest and most sincere people we met in CR. The pool was also a huge hit for kids- its located at the main house, which is used by the owners one week a month so I'd recommend checking to see if you'll have access to the pool while your staying. This home does not have air conditioning but Isabelle is right- you don't need it. The wind whips through there and provides a nice breeze. It has a very natural feeling as if you we're laying outside- its hard to explain. While renting at the beach we were locked down with all the windows shut and we're forced to run the AC nonstop. We are environmentally conscious so we recognize how wonderful it is to use home design over electricity to cool a house. Regarding amenities, we had a TV, hot water, microwave, full size fridge, coffee maker, stove top, and internet. Everything you needed. If you want a dishwasher and air conditioning and expect The Westin Style amenities its probably not the right place for you. For us it was perfect. It was simple- probably 750 square feet of living space and 350 square feet of patio space. We spent much of our time on the patio. The wildlife is all around you- expect the Howler monkeys to visit and wake you up some mornings. Parrots are everywhere. They don't have laundry onsite but ask Isabelle and she'll coordinate laundry service with the cleaner for a good price. Isabelle also did Horse lessons with our three kids which they loved. Internet worked great, I'd recommend bringing your Ipad and TV connectors so you can stream Netflix through your Ipad to the TV. Regarding the location- your a five minute drive to the beach- we walked it one day but its haul. I wouldn't recommend it with kids. The location is great because its so private. I'd highly recommend this home for everyone- the people, the location, and the simple style made it feel like a true authentic CR vacation.

  • The cabin on the estate is amazing. If you are looking for an authentic Costa Rican vacation, away from hustle and bustle than this is it! We felt safe and secure in our cabin and Isabelle went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of - great communication! You will need a car, as mentioned in the listing, but restaurants, beaches, and convenience stores are within 5-10 minutes. Seeing and hearing the wild life of the finca, having privacy amidst mango orchards, and exploring the local scene are all part and parcel of staying at Isabelle's. We can't wait to return!

    Shaunacy2017-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Finca Shambhala. Isabelle is a great host and communicating with her prior and during the trip was no problem. The house is so beautiful and spacious. Lots of sweet touches and the shower is AMAZING. There are bugs everywhere, but they are harmless. Just be sure to clean up after cooking and wear bug spray if you are susceptible to bites. We had some pretty intense rain storms which were fun to watch and experience on the property. If you go during the rainy season, make sure you have 4 wheel drive and that the roads are in drivable condition. This is an authentic Costa Rican experience through and through!

  • we had a great time at casa shambala: ) it was a very realaxed place and we enjoied the thime we spend there. the beach is about a 5min drive to get there. isabelle and their friends took care about us and they was very friendly. a big thank you and pura vida....

  • My husband and I had the pleasure of spending an extended vacation in the guest house at Finca Shambala this past February. It is a wonderful, MAGICAL place! We even had fun during one week of HUGE gale force winds. We especially liked the remoteness of the location. (You definitely need a rental car.) It is peaceful and quiet and who knew there are so many stars!!! The nearby beaches are gorgeous and there a many fun little places to get interesting and delicious food. We did several horseback rides with Isabelle in the dry jungle a short, maybe 20 minute drive away. I am not a horseback rider but with Isabelle’s guidance I felt really comfortable. It was a blast!! We can’t wait to go back.

Casa Surf is a rustic backpacker hostel located in Playa Avellanas, a tropical paradise ideal for those who enjoy exploring roads less traveled. Amid rising development in Costa Rica, this is certainly an untouched oasis where you can truly experience the “Pura Vida” way of life! We offer a room with a double bed, and a single bed, w/ shared bathroom, and access to the communal kitchen and yoga/hammock deck. This is an economical option because we do not offer normal hotel amenities.
Here at Casa Surf, we believe in real community hostel living, and keeping the pura vida vibe alive is our number one priority. Being immersed in nature provides opportunity to learn what we really need. There are fans but no a/c, no hot water, early rising surfers being noisy chasing morning sessions, animals and bugs. Don't come with high expectations of having lots of privacy. Interaction among guests is encouraged, and creating a family type vibe is the goal. With the description i have given and with the photos provided, I feel that the hostel is properly represented. Since we usually operate on a walk in basis, when reservations are made we are forced to turn away potential customers, and because of this we are not able to give refunds for cancelations, regardless of expectations. I advise to research the property to get a feel if you will be comfortable here, and only book two days to begin with. If you are still stoked after two days you are welcome to stay for as long as you like!

The house is close to the beach, nightlife, nature, great views.. You’ll love my place because of Very safe, and a real getaway. It is very close to a semi private beach, each room has its own AC, full kitchen.. This place is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids). During the rainy season its not uncommon to have the howler monkeys relaxing in the tree's. The house is locating between Playa Avellanas and Playa Negra, 2 of Costa Rica's best surf beaches.
The house is a typical Costa Rican house of the area. It is clean but simple with little luxuries. It does have two split AC systems in each of the rooms. Please note that the unit has hot water but it is not pressurised. Please be aware that toilet paper needs to be thrown in a provided basket beside the toilet.
The neighbourhood is very low key and quiet. The beach closest to the house often has no one on it other then a few locals fishing in the afternoon. We have also provided the unit with a few laminated pages with information about the area and our recommendations for food, tours, and beaches to visit.
  • The place is perfect to explore near by beaches like avellanas, junquillal, negra, etc! Quiet place. An added value is the free yoga classes in the morning and hot water. Wi-Fi worked great. Keep the door closed to prevent bugs and insects entering the house! The host has a warm personality. I recommend it!

The Villa has a private garden, 2 outside decks, comfy beds, free WIFI, big bathroom and a equipped kitchen with a big fridge.
If one day, you should not feel like cooking, you find 2 good restaurants in Avellanas itself and more within a short drive (10 min) to Playa Negra. • My boyfriend and I came to Guanacaste for a wedding and we decided not to stay at a resort. We absolutely loved Las Avellanas Villas! The villas are in such a perfect location.. it's secluded but close to a few good restaurants and really close to the beach. We rented a car which I definitely recommend when coming down. We didn't travel too far from where we were staying but it was very nice to have a car to travel to different beaches when we wanted to venture out. Robert and Isabel were so kind and helpful with any questions we had about the area and the surf. We got to see so much wildlife (howler monkeys, lizards, crabs, and sooo many butterflies!) and beautiful flowers and trees (with a couple flying mangos that the monkeys tossed after they were done eating. And cleaning staff is awesome (thanks Karla!) It was just such an amazing trip. We wish we never had to leave.

    Vanessa2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great spot. The cabins have all you need. Spent our time either on the deck or sleeping so the inside seating was for dumping stuff. A number of great restaurants nearby and the beach was great. We don't surf but rented bogie boards for the day and had a blast. If you're looking for a great spot, don't mind driving to places and like being close to nature this is the spot. Host is very friendly and always available for any and all questions. Place is clean and there is housekeeping almost daily.

  • Great location, close to nice beaches that aren't as populated as Tamarindo. Robert and Isabel are kind hosts and take great care for their property. If you want to see monkeys, you can usually spot them in the trees just outside.

  • Las Avellanas beach is absolutely gorgeous. My boyfriend and I traveled to three different beach towns in Costa Rica and loved Las Avellanas' sunsets! The cabins at Las Avellanas Villas are beautifully designed and a nice place to tuck into in the evenings. There isn't really a town so it's lovely to be able to sit on the porch and relax. The accommodation is about a 10 minute drive from the beach.

Surrounded by nature this beautiful villa with its own pool is located in short 15 minute walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica , Playa Avellanas. Casa Oasis features four large air-conditioned bedrooms each with its own bath , Fully Equipped Open Concept Kitchen, Living Room with Flatscreen TV , DVD and Wifi. There is a 5th bathroom on the main floor in the breezeway. See our other listing for one bedroom apartment on the property that can be rented separately.
Perfect for families and couples, each Bedroom has it's own private bath and separate entrance. The open concept living and kitchen areas, as well as pool patio are the perfect place to hangout.
The map shows 2 locations for Playa Avellanas. The main beach, near Lolas is the southern most. The top location is outside of the gated community of Hacienda Pinilla , and has no access unless you are staying within that gated community. Many of the homes and cabinas you will see pinpointed close to the beach, which is very inaccurate. The pinned location on the map for casa Oasis is the exact location. To avoid disappointment, make sure you confirm with owner exact location of the property you are booking, as there are in fact no homes or cabinas located directly on the beach, and some are as much as 2 miles away.
  • The host canceled this reservation 17 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • The house is very nice. Each room has its own A/C and bathroom. The road from Pinilla to Avellanas is a dirt road. So, be calm and ride slowly along the many pot holes (~30 min). The beach is on walking distance from the house (~15min). Kaci drew a simple map to take a shortcut that goes across a super nice mangrove forest. Else, you can drive to Lola's and park your car. Beach is very nice! We spent most of our beach time at Lola's, food is really good over there. We found very few grocery shopping/restaurant alternatives aside from Lola's (a grocery store nearby happened to be closed most of our stay and we did not have time to try a local bar that seemed really good – Gregorios). We recommend stopping in Tamarindo on your way to Avellanas. There are many large supermarkets.

  • Very close to the access of Avellanas beach (by walk), which is very beautiful and good for surfing. The house is comfortable with a large space. More tools and gadgets in the kitchen would be interesting, but the house contains more items than the basic stuff. If you have a car you can easily access the center of Tamarindo, which has more restaurants and nightlife. Benny is a great guy and received me and my colleagues with enthusiasm. I strongly recommend the house.

    Leonardo2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Bennys house was exactly what we pictured. A beautiful house by the beach with A.C. and a place to lay our heads at night. Walking distance to the beach with plenty of awesome restaurants near by. You don't need a car but we found that renting one with 4 wheel drive left us more options to see things we may have missed without one. Benny will accommodate you in any way possible to make sure your stay is perfection. I stayed with my brother who took up the awesome chance to get surf lessons with Benny. He is a great teacher and they both walked away from the water with smiles on their faces. There is a huge Mango tree right outside the door that we picked from. The bathrooms are so cool! Lounge outside in the hammocks with a beer and listen to the howler monkeys. If your looking for a cool spot by the ocean and like to kick it low key this is the spot. Don't expect to be pampered wined and dined. Staying here makes you feel like you live like the locals. Do it. It's awesome. We love Benny and his house!!!!! We want to come back!!

    Mindy2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Benny's place was the perfect home base for our time on the west coast of Costa Rica! He was so attentive, helpful, and nice, and the property is very secure and safe. There are three beds total, and each room has it's own A/C, TV and bathroom, which was wonderful after a long day at the beach, and the hammocks on the porch were perfect for reading and afternoon naps. The kitchen with a fridge, toaster oven, stove/oven, and bbq outside made it easy to cook our meals if we didn't want to eat at one of the local restaurants, all of which were delicious, by the way. There are also three super sweet and friendly cats on the property which really made the experience feel like home. We could even hear the howler monkeys on the road and in the trees. Playa Avellanas was a great place to spend a week switching between relaxing on the property and on the beach!

    Big house.
Playa Avellanas is a wonderful ocean beach. Your vacation here can be enjoyed in many different ways, horseback riding, golfing, and sun-bathing to name a few. The beach is very famous among surfers of the world, who travel from all continents to Playa Avellanas because it offers such a variety of waves. There are lefts and rights, reef-breaks and beach-breaks, and it seems you can always find good waves at high tide or low tide. Children also enjoy the little swimming pools filled with tiny tropical fish, left by the tide among the rocks. Playa Avellanas is also 5km from Playa Negra, a wave known to be one of the best in Costa Rica! Driving 20 minutes can take you to the waves (and the night-life) of Playa Tamarindo, Playa Grande and Playa Langosto. Directions from Liberia airport: Go west from the airport follow all signs to Hacienda Pinilla. This drive should take 1 hour. When you arrive at the entrance of Hacienda Pinilla take a left and stay on this dirt road for about 10 min. When you reach what looks like a soccer field or large grassy area continue forward for about 3 min. At this time you will see a bar with a red roof and blue painted rocks surrounding it on your right, go about 300 ft. and take a left. Now you are on the back road to Las Casitas de Avellanas. Go about 3 min where you'll see a large tree in the middle of the road. Go right through the double wooden gates, take your next right and go over the creek: we are the 2nd driveway on the right.

New & Comfy bungalow, 15min walking from the beach & surrounded by the jungle. This Cabin can accommodate 4 people (1 Queen & Bunk Beds), A/C & fan, private bath & terrace, great outdoor community kitchen & garden...See also Cabina Agua our other listing !
Enjoy jungle at the beach ! We are located near Avellanas Beach in an oasis of tranquility with beautiful wildlife. The brand news cabins are eco-friendly & comfortable. The large room with private bath & terrace opens on the garden & the very-well equipped outdoor kitchen. Built in the respect of nature with local arts and inspired by travels.
Avellanas is one of the most beautiful beaches around, limitless white sand with pristine water, shady if you like too! It is also a great surf spot, like many beaches around here to satisfy everyone! The closest beaches around are Playa Negra and Junquillal. Tamarindo is located 30min driving from the cabina, which is the most touristy place around. Avellanas is a laid back area with many activities at short driving distance to visit Guanacaste.
  • Our host was very welcoming and the listing was accurate. The place was very comfortable, simple but elegant. I totally recommend this place.

Camille and pascal are French cheefs so you can order them great food as well !;) we loved to surf at avellanas it s just a 3 min ride to beach! We will come back here next time for sure !;) Thanks so much Camille and Pascal! Sabrina and Cyril

  • Camille & Pascal's casita was a real gem. Small but very comfortable room and bathroom, excellent lounging porch, and the fanciest stove you've ever seen in an outdoor kitchen! Quite close to beach access, and the beach is dreamy. Camille & Pascal are also super nice, and their kids are adorable. We hope we get a chance to come back again!

  • My husband, I and our toddler stayed here for 10 days. Pros: -The room and bathroom are very large and spacious. -Camille & Pasqual are kind hosts. Camille was helpful in email correspondences prior to arrival and answered many questions. They are familiar with the area and can help you with anything you may need. -The accommodations are in a quiet neighborhood located off of the main road. Cons: -This is not a suitable accommodation for a small child. It should be noted that this is a room on a second story. The thin wood railings are spaced far enough apart (some broken) so that a small child could easily fall through and literally fall to their death. If I had know this (I mentioned our toddler when booking) I would have never booked. The kitchen is located on the backside of the porch, so I would have to leave my toddler alone in the room to make coffee or use the kitchen. It was just too dangerous to take her on the porch without being by her side at all times. -Price. After checking out other accommodations in Avellanas and Playa Negra, this room is overpriced. For less money, you can rent an entire bungalow with AC, kitchen and a pool (much needed in the dust & heat).

  • My husband and I stayed with Camille and Pascal for just a few days, but I wish it could have been longer! The cabina was small but well-sized for the two of us, and it was kept very clean (which is a challenge in a place like Costa Rica!). I enjoyed walking out to the kitchen every morning to make my breakfast, and to watch the howler monkeys in the backyard. It's located in a very peaceful part of Playa Avellanas, and it's about a 15-20 min. walk to the beach and Lola's. We had rented a car and had no problems finding the place. Camille and Pascal (and their two little girls) are very friendly and kind, and they prepared us dinner our first night (it was excellent!). Would definitely recommend!

  • Camille & Pascal's cabina was an excellent choice for my lodging near Playa Avellanas. The pure, natural landscape cradles this spacious single-room cabina, with high ceilings, wrap-around deck, & outdoor kitchen. The bed was comfortable & the outdoor hammock an ideal spot for indulging in an afternoon siesta. Camille & Pascal are a charming & good-humored couple who were always prepared to help make arrangements or assist with any questions or needs I might have. I enjoyed their delightful cooking one evening as an added bonus to my stay! The beach is a short distance from the cabina, with a surf shop offering lessons & rentals along the way. There is also a beachside restaurant with a variety of choices to suit anyone's taste. If you have a vehicle, you will be a moments drive to the other surrounding towns & beaches, yet Playa Avellanas offers a simplicity and seclusion that makes this getaway feel like a perfect Costa Rican retreat. I would certainly rent this space again!

  • I LOVED it here. What a beautiful family and space. I loved the outdoor kitchen and saw some cute monkeys!

    Jackie2016-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Camille and Pascal are wonderful hosts! We booked last minute and Camille was more than welcoming and helpful. We were coming from Playa Junquillal...she helped us get a ride with a very reasonable taxi (Flori) as well as called on ziplining tours for us. She gave great recommendations for places to eat in Playa Avellanas. We loved Lola's on the beach! The cabina was clean, cool, and the beds were comfy. Make sure you buy food before arriving in Avellanas though. There isn't much of a supermarket. We didn't get to cook much in the outside kitchen but it was very stocked with everything we would've needed to prepare food ourselves. Camille made us a delicious breakfast and dinner while we stayed. Best beach in Costa Rica just a 15 minute walk.

The one bedroom villa is a short walk to Playa Avellanas beach. The villa’s contemporary look helps to bring the outdoors inside so you feel one with nature. It is very relaxing and is great for anyone that needs a break, whether it’s a surf break or just a break from everyday life.
The villa: There are two modern outdoor patios. One is in the front on the villa, and one is in the back of the villa connected to the bedroom. The one in the front of the villa is equipped with hammocks and a picnic table. It's a really great space for lounging before and after surf sessions, to enjoy meals, or just to relax. Next to the entrance door is an outdoor shower to rinse off before heading inside after fun days at the beach. Your villa, Villa #5, is the end villa, along the row of four others, so this one has the most privacy and best views of the garden / forest. Kitchen amenities include: Kitchenette with a stove top burner, medium-size fridge, cooking supplies and utensils, coffee pot, toaster oven, bar-stool seating, and ceiling fan. Bathroom amenities include: Large stand-up shower, hot water, soap bar, toilet paper, and bathroom towels. Bedroom amenities include: New comfortable queen bed, bunk bed (with two twin beds), dresser drawers, clothes hanging rack, desk, private patio, floor fan, air conditioning unit (extra $10/day), and ceiling fan. Overall: When you are ready to get away from it all, bring your books, your surf board, your laptop and other gadgets, and sunscreen, and have a nice getaway minutes from the beach in a natural forest environment. Playa Avellanas is a very magical place. Air conditioning is extra $10/day.
Playa Avellana is a big beach where there is great swimming, surfing, and lots of soft sand. There are some trees that meet the sand for comfy shady areas. You’ll enjoy the local friendly restaurants and bars within walking distance. There is only one restaurant on the beach, and that is Lola's. I recommend it! There's also a nearby golf course, next to the J.W. Mariot. Playa Avellana is about twenty minutes outside of the more-popular and very busy surf town: Tamarindo, Costa Rica. So, if you are the type that wants to be a part of the action once and a while, it's not far away! In town there is a laundry facility, casino, many restaurants and bars, places to dance, catamaran trips, and more. Overall, the Playa Avellana neighborhood consists of the beautiful preserved beach, the backroads that lead to it, the chatty monkeys, and the little local places along the way.
  • Great place to get away! Very Tranquil We stayed the whole month and walked everywhere. The roads were dusty due to dry season, but we loved it. 15-20 min walk to Beach and another 5 mins gets you to Lola's. Not the usual vacation if you're a Hotel vacationer, but perfect if your looking to get back to real life and love of disconnecting from the modern world.

  • We cannot say enough GREAT things about this space. If you are looking for a private and quiet space (bar the monkeys) than this is it! The hosts were communicative, throughout our last minute booking, our reception was warm, and the cabin was within walking distance of the beach. We appreciated the hosts suggestions for restaurants and places to grab fresh food. Pura Vida!

    Shaunacy2017-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great and fast communication, very helpful with the local things to do and see

    Alex2017-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really cool and off the beaten path, just what we wanted. Chilling on patio during a rain storm is great or sipping morning coffee listening to the howler monkeys just over your head. Loved being able to surf at Lola's and little Hawaii. Plus Playa Negra is just 5 minutes away by car for a great rock reef long wave.

    Jeff2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great place with easy access to the beach and nearby restraunt. The villa is weak on wifi and the couch feels like concrete. But otherwife beautiful building and a great scenic getaway from the rest of the town. Every villa has hammacks and a porch with a clean picnic table. Neighbors are friendly and buildings are constructed very uniquely. We enjoyed it for the most part. Kaitlyn is very friendly with helping you reserve the room.

    Michael2016-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Villas were a perfect place to relax. It is a quiet spot, close to the beach and a small store. Beds are very comortable, as well as the hammocks outside. Highly recommend staying here.

    Luci and Ruben2017-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • The villa is wonderful, secluded, and very comfortable. It was ideal for a family, couple or anyone wanting seclusion and also community and wildlife and nature. A longer walk to beach is what you should expect, it takes about 35 minutes but is well worth it!!

Casa Kaiki is 15 min from Playa Negra, 30 minutes from Tamarindo, 15 min walk to big surf, and to several fantastic restaurants including Il Rústico, Mauna Loa, and Lola's. You’ll love Casa Kaiki because of the setting, the tranquility, the cozy and clean rooms. Breakfast is included in your stay. We highly recommend renting a car while you stay with us. Shuttle service is available, but only during high season (Dec-April), and not everyday. (URL HIDDEN)
This room offers a queen bed and a twin. You'll also find a private bathroom with a shower, new AC, and a large patio. This rooms is right next to the shared kitchen.
The beach is a kilometer away, just a 10 minute walk. Several restaurants are walking distance as well.
  • Casa Kaiki is a comfortable place to stay, about a 90 minute drive from the Liberia Airport. We heard howler monkeys and birds in the morning, which was very fun. The road to Casa Kaiki is a bit rough, and I wouldn't recommend it without a 4x4. Also, roads between Liberia and Casa Kaiki are unclear, and I would 100% recommend getting an international phone plan before coming and using the Waze app to get around. It will end up being cheaper than paying for the Car Rental agency GPS and more accurate. Nicole provided a simple and tasty breakfast of coffee, fruit, banana bread, and hard boiled eggs (with more eggs to cook if desired.) There is a full kitchen with fridge if you want to bring your own groceries. The nearest grocery stores and variety of restaurants are about 30 min away, so come prepared.

    Domini2017-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our 3 days at Casa Kaiki and Playa Avellanas were by far the highlight of our week in Costa Rica. The house, room, and grounds are modern, clean, and perfectly relaxing. Nikki and Scott were bursting with great recommendations, not to mention wonderful breakfasts (homemade smoothies!). I truly look forward to coming back one day, staying at Kaiki and having another sunset cocktail at Lola's. It was a dream.

    Alissa2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • LOVED our stay at Casa Kaiki. Our hosts Nicky and Scott went way beyond to make sure we were comfortable and knowledgeable. The breakfasts were perfect with fruit and banana bread. You definitely need a car to stay here. Nickys directions were excellent and very necessary! Good luck finding it on your own. We had access to a full kitchen for evenings we didn't want to go out for dinner. Everything in the room was spotless. Great a/c. Don't forget to eat at the Beach Box... Our favorite neighborhood restaurant especially fish tacos. Loved having them share their dream with us.

  • We had a very nice stay at Kaiki House... Away from the noisy Tamarindo, we got to hear birds and howler monkeys , feel the sea's breeze, and relax. Very comfy room, shared kitchen available. We recommend!

  • We had a great stay at Nicole and Scott's place! We stayed two nights. Nicole and Scott were hopeful and provided a yummy breakfast. Definitely need a car to get around though for food and activities.

  • We had a good stay at this airbnb for one night. The room had modern decor and has access to a kitchen. The bed was very comfortable. The location is secluded and quiet if you want to get away from it all. Main restaurant in the area (Lola's) closes shortly after sunset so plan ahead if you want to eat out for dinner. Please also note that it is quite a walk to the beach from here on dirt roads so you will probably want to drive. Also, the breakfast is modest as advertised. The smoothies were delicious! Other than that there was some packaged bread, hard boiled eggs and cucumber and tomatoes.

  • Casa Bali is stunning. It was the perfect place to crash after a long day at the beach surfing. It's a quiet and peaceful 15 minute walk to Playa Avellanas. The house has everything you need to cook almost any meal. We spent a full week there (6 of us) and couldn't have been happier. Can't wait to go back!

  • Casa Bali exceeded our expectations and was a wonderful place for our family to spend the holidays together. It's far enough from the main road that there is little foot or car traffic, yet still within easy walking distance of Playa Avellana and Lola's. Despite the private location, locating the house was very easy. The tranquility and privacy at night was greatly appreciated by all of us. The house is beautifully designed, and the beds were clean and comfortable. It really exceeded our expectations. The pool and outdoor area is wonderful and really makes it feel as though you are staying at your own private resort. We were all very pleased with the house and had a wonderful stay. Our host Christi was very prompt and responsive to our needs. Highly recommended.

  • Unique property in a great location!

    Elizabeth2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Just returned from our trip to Costa Rica. Christi was very nice to deal with, responded quickly to my emails. The house is really nice, unfortunately we were there during a drought/very dry time and a lot of the foliage was not in bloom. The pool was great and having a laundry room was a huge plus. We cooked at the house a few times and there were enough pots, pans etc. to make due. I couldn't get the toaster to work and the microwave was a little on the weaker side (took 15 minutes to microwave 5 slices of bacon), but other than that everything was fine. I did get stung by a scorpion on the first night and slightly freaked out, but found out that they are really no worse than a wasp sting so.......just a story to tell! The area is very quiet other than scooters and a few cars driving by, the howler monkeys are something we had never heard before and are quite entertaining. We did have an iguana that visited the yard, made for good pictures. You can walk to Lola's, it's not that far and there are a few other restaurants a short distance away that were good too. There is a small market on the way to the house and they have cold drinks, and a limited grocery selection. All the people we came in contact with were very friendly and helpful.

    Linda2016-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place. The perfect balance between secluded and closer to the beach. Very fresh and with a lot of shadows in the property.

    Ernesto2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • The house was beautiful and the location was great, not to far from the beach but only the sound of nature at night. Some minor upkeep issues but nothing to make a big deal about. Brenda was very helpful. Food in the area was really good. Beach Box and Lola's were great. A little more pricey at Lola's than when I was down there 15 years ago. Still worth it. Great new spot called Blu right down the road. Some tasty spots in Negra as well. Great surf, lots of relaxing. Thanks CR
