  • Jenny went above and beyond during our short stay at Wishingwell Farm. We really enjoyed ourselves in the relaxing and private setting of the farm, away from the hustle and the bustle and went home re-energised. Thank you for this beautiful experience!

  • Jenny was friendly, hospitable and took time out to make us feel at home and give us a tour of the farm. We had a lovely time and miss the animals already! Our room was also super clean and cosy.

  • Beautiful farm fueled by Jenny and Davids’ love for animals. Wonderful getaway for us city folks. Great hospitality!

    Jaime2019-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • As soon as you arrive at jennys Farm you get greater by a host of sweet friendly animals, chickens, ducks, goats, dogs, cats who all seem to get on well with each other! You get the chance to go around feeding them all with jenny, which my grandson particularly loved. The room we had was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed, with lots of yummy things in fridge for breakfast. Jenny and David took us out and about with them which was great as we didn't have transport and they were great company! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to be in a peaceful, beautiful setting with the added interest of all the lovely animals 😊

Experience SUSTAINABLE LIFESTYLE in the RAINFOREST in our charming country style WOODEN ECO CHALET. Quiet location within 330 acres of rainforest/subtropical vegetation in the Northern Rivers Region of NSW. IDEAL for NATURE LOVERS. Breakfast on request.
You want to EXPERIENCE SOMETHING DIFFERENT? You like nature and sustainability is important to you? Book our Eco Chalet in the rainforest! WHAT IS IT? A charming wooden eco-chalet for a couple or a couple with a baby (baby cot available on request). This place is ideal for nature lovers or simply to leave the hustle bustle of city life. Nestled in the rainforest, this hideaway will allow you to experience sustainable lifestyle, visit the surroundings, relax in a quiet environment and just reconnect with nature. By staying at the eco chalet, you are supporting native forest regeneration and the protection of countless species. Since we arrived in 2013, we have planted more than 1000 native trees and plan to keep going with 1000 more. THE ECO CHALET OFFERS - a cosy bedroom (equipped with a queen size bed, linen, blankets, chest of drawers, small fridge, desk & chairs, candles, oil diffuser... The mosquito net is cotton and mostly there for the romantic look as we don't have mosquitoes) - a private balcony with table and sofa bed to relax. - a private shower (we provide towels, eco friendly organic soap & shampoo at no charge.) The timer is helping to observe a 3 min shower. - a private composting toilet (not smelly) with recycling toilet paper. - a kitchenette with a small fridge, a 2 burner gas stove, cutlery, basic cooking equipment (pot, tea pot, plunger, pan, chopping board, crockery...), a selection of teas and coffee, recycling bins (we will ask you to take your regular waste away when checking out). WATER IS SUITABLE FOR DRINKING. Our off the grid sustainable lifestyle is very precious to us. We therefore ask our dear guests to respect it by being WATER WISE and POWER WISE. A 3 min shower (timer in the shower) is greatly appreciated. Because we rely on solar, be aware that you can't use a kettle, a hair drier, a toaster or any other electrical device whose power consumption is too high. A little outdoor fire pit is close to the eco-chalet and the main house (which is 15 m from the eco chalet). Feel free to ask if you'd like us to light the fire for you (fire ban permitting)! FRENCH BREAKFAST can be offered for a small fee ($10 for 2) from 7 am to 9 am on weekdays. Times can be adjusted on the weekend. It consists of toasted organic bread with jam, our own honey, tea and coffee. Please, let us know if you want it when booking or when arriving. Breakfast will be ready to be picked up in the main house (15 m from the Eco Chalet). NOTE TO OUR DEAR GUESTS : Although we like the eco chalet cosy and comfortable, we wish to keep it rustic and simple so that people can reconnect with nature. We believe less is best and try to focus on the essentials to limit our Carbon footprint. It is not a luxury accommodation with swimming pool, wi-fi & air conditioning, fully equipped kitchen, TV... in the wild. Our aim is for you to experience a sustainable lifestyle and reconnect with nature and/or your loved ones. People coming here want to experience something different from what they have at home. A beautiful swimming hole is located 5 min drive from here if you wish to have a swim on a warm day. Finally, our property is absolutely PET FREE and SMOKE FREE.

  • Jenny is truly a “Super Host”! She spent hours crafting with our 10 year old daughter, teaching her about the menagerie of animals on the farm....from peacocks to goats and lots in between, and helping her play the spirit flute. The area is spectacularly beautiful. Jenny was knowledgeable about different places to go & things to see and do. She responds to communications very quickly & makes every effort to ensure you’re comfort. If you want to experience a real, working farm with a kind and generous hostess, Wishing Well Farm is your Place.

    Dru2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is really quite a private space, a smallish and cozy bedroom. Jenny is a considerate host and it is nice to meet all the animals at the property.

  • This was my second time that i stayed at wishing well farm. i love it there, Jenny is very nice and friendly and i enjoyed every second of my stay there.

    Parisa2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wishingwell farm was adorable. Peaceful and friendly atmosphere. The animals were a hoot, especially Mocha the gorgeous dog who greeted us on arrival at the front gate and showed us to the door of the house. Love to have a welcome like that every day. Feeding the ducks was so much fun, hoovering up the food from your hand. So nice to get back to nature. The room was exceptionally clean and inviting. Lovely 2 night stay.

Get away from it all and relax in a beautiful off-grid Eco Cottage on 38 acres. Experience the peace and beauty of a unique and ecologically sustainable Australian sub-tropical environment. Two distinct cottages make up the one residence at 'Uralba Eco Cottages'. One is occupied by your hosts, the other 'Kookaburra Cottage'. Both are separated by a breezeway, but each living space is designed to ensure the total privacy of its occupants. National and International Ecotourism Certification
With separate car parking and a disability access ramp, Kookaburra Cottage comprises one bedroom with queen bed, private bathroom, open-plan living area with lounge, dining area, and a large private verandah overlooking beautiful gardens. The verandah has its own vertical garden room and a calming water feature. The cottages run on 240v solar power entirely off-grid. Hot water comes from a separate solar system. There is a back-up generator and a LPG gas instantaneous hot water system (if needed). Filtered rainwater is gravity-fed to the cottages. Our Worm Waste Management system provides an environmentally sustainable solution for wastewater, sewerage and organic waste. The buildings were designed to maximise airflow and comfort while reducing the carbon footprint. Much of the timber used in construction of the cottages has been sourced directly from the property and/or recycled materials. We use renewable and recyclable products where possible, provide recycling bins and compost all food waste on site. The garden’s general design principles are based on permaculture and the whole property is organic (chemical free). There are plenty of things to do at Uralba. Relax on one of the comfy couches or in the hammock with a book, why not play a board game in the garden or become creative with some artwork? Enjoy the birds (over 100 documented species), butterflies, frogs and a variety of native animals such as wallabies, koalas and goannas.
Located in the foothills of the McPherson Range, we are surrounded by three World Heritage Listed National Parks (Border Ranges, Wollumbin and Nightcap Range), all within a short driving distance. The Yogi's Hut is a much loved off-grid earth studio, and home-away-from-home for our mother, grandmother and the family Yoga teacher, Carolyn. It is light-filled, simple, and peaceful. We are thrilled to share the hut with travellers and guests who enjoy rustic comfort, quiet bush ambience and eco-conscious living. The hut is located on a larger shared property but is completely private. It is located 5 minutes by road from the thriving alternative village of Nimbin.
The Yogi's Hut is a large, light-filled, one-room studio space, with an extra large partially covered deck for you to practice yoga or meditate in the morning sun. The hut is charming and comfortable with simple eco-amenties. To really enjoy your time here, you must be prepared to embrace rustic pleasures like an outside composting toilet, lighting a fire for warmth, and thoughtful use of the off-grid solar system. There is limited mobile coverage ( 1-2 bars Telstra/Optus outside on the deck) and no internet/ Wi-Fi in the hut. The hut is equipped with a fridge, toaster, and electric lights. We have a petrol-powered generator for back-up power on rainy days. In summer the high ceilings, earth floor and fans help the dwelling stay cool, and in winter the morning sun warms the space beautifully. We have a four-burner gas cooker, a small camping oven, and gas-fired hot water. The toilet is a composting toilet seperate from the main dwelling and the shower room is attached to the deck, meaning it cannot be accessed internally. We have provided warm robes for you to travel to and from the shower. The Yogi's Hut is best suited to a single traveller or couple, however, the built in lounge/daybed can be comfortably converted into x 2 single sleeping spaces for up to 2 more guests if needed.
The hut is located in a rural, sparsely populated area, but is only 5 minutes by road from amenties in the village of Nimbin. The Stony Chute valley is incredibly beautiful, and is always alive with birdsong. We see echindnas, wallabies, blue-tounge lizards, and goannas on the property. If you get up early we can show you where you are almost guaranteed to see our resident wallabies. Nimbin is a truly special place and has great food and farmers markets.
  • Me and my partner had a beautiful weekend away at the yogi’s hut. It was raining for the most part which was a great excuse to stay in and enjoy the space. The dam is home to saw-shell turtles, eels, water dragons and other reptiles. Mammals include platypus, bandicoots and red-necked wallabies, flying foxes and micro bats. Foxes and dingoes can be heard at night during their breeding season. We are in the heart of the 'Rainbow Region', surrounded by rainforests that are part of the World Heritage listed national parks, including Border Ranges, Wollumbin (Mt Warning), Nightcap and others--all a day trip away.

Small room for single female person. It contains a queen-sized bed, a lamp and chair. The bathroom is shared and the house itself is lived in (children are with me five nights out of seven, not on Mon or Tues nights), but it is warm and comfortable. There is currently another woman who also lives with us. We also have a cat, so please note this just in case you are allergic :-/ Non-smoking, single females ONLY please.
The neighbourhood is friendly and close to town, but still in nature with nice trees and lots of wildlife.
We live in a beautiful, friendly neighbourhood just a hop, skip and a jump away from the local farmer's markets and stunning Crystal Castle, plus some of the country's most spectacular beaches and waterholes :-)
  • My stay at Zanna'z place was great, Zanna was lovely and very thoughtful and accommodating. The room was perfect and bed nice and comfortable. Would recommend staying here if you are visiting Mullumbimby and the Byron Shire.

  • Zanna is a lovely and kind host. hood is lovely and quiet.

    Fiamma2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Zanna is a beautiful woman with a lovely family. I felt right at home. Their large house is in a beautiful surrounding on the edge of town and in the morning you awake to birdsong. The bed is super comfy. I recommend to stay here.

    Sabine Ekanta2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Zanna’s place is incredibly cozy and quiet. Although I didn’t stay at home as much, I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with Zanna herself and the kids. Will definitely stay here again when I’m around next time!

    Sam2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure staying with Zanna and her family. The room was really comfortable (especially the mattress!) and I loved the little touches like the salt lamp and water filter on the shower. The room is a good size with a lovely view to the garden. Her kids were a real pleasure to be around, and the whole house has a lovely lived-in feel that was so nice to come home to at the end of the day. Check-in was really easy and Zanna's communication and hospitality was great - I really enjoyed our chats as well. Highly recommended!

  • The perfect get away for a great value for money Mullimbimby stay, with the warmth of family. The hot water is amazing too.

check out our group discounts by asking for an offer, as little as $25 per person for groups of 4 or more. Please consider our little paradise. we will have three dwellings listed soon. The second will be listed by the 10th of January, it will suit up to 4 people. Open plan with a great view of Nimbin Rocks the outstanding natural feature of the local area. We have lots of wild life. Beautification still in progress but the scenery is really what you are paying for.
self contained and available for first responders. Enquire about special prices. Our space is unique because of the view of NImbin Rocks but also the natural environment surrounding our listing, we have a four hundred year old fig tree very close to the builings and this is a haven for birds and bats, we have a healthy community of micro bats as well. You can book up to seven people for the listing . With three queen sized beds and one single bed it will also be great for a family with kids. The current listing has a veranda on both the eastern and western sides to provide access to sun or shade as required. With some of the local wallabies coming almost to your door in the early hours it is a beautiful experience to be able to see. Also we are close to national parks, water falls, cafes and restaurants. We aim to provide fresh fruit grown onsite in the coming years and in the near future provide guests with opportunity to pick their own vegetables and herbs grown in gardens close as a stone throw from your bedr Blue and Red Wrens are abundant here as are a number of different finch varieties, other birds include Wedge tailed eagles, Ospreys and Black Cockatoo and White Cockatoo to name just a few. Down the road at the bridge one can observe Platypus and the odd Echidna can be seen around the property.
Nimbin is famous throughout the world for it's natural charm and anti establishment community especially toward the use of cannabis, it is the second busiest town in Australia after Byron Bay and many people visit the town every day. Nimbin has many other great features including access to natural health practitioners and massage, a variety of eateries and souvineers to be bought. Also there are a number of heritage listed national parks within a short drive.
  • The property is close to the town of Nimbin, but lies secluded on a hill, looking at the Nimbin Rocks. The accommodation was clean, stylish and comfortable. The best part about our stay weren't the amazing view, the wallabies, that you can see from you porch, or the proximity to Nimbin town- the best part of our stay was our host: Micheal. He welcomed us with warm, homemade apple crumble, helped us to kick of a fire in front f our porch and gave us tips and recommendations about the area

  • Mik even prepared food for us after we reached his place at 3am in the morning. He was there to show us the area at that time of the morning.. 5 star, highly recommended

    Shahriar2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Michael is a superb host! I love getting back to nature and being able to see wallabies outside the bedroom window was amazing! Great place to unwind and unplug!

    Marinda2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful time at Mic's property in Nimbin. You could see the powerful Nimbin rocks from my front door! A really cool location: nice and quiet, but very close to the town & local sights. Mic was super-nice, and very helpful, and he's a great cook as well! He was kind enough to cook up an excellent veggie curry on my first night! The place was large, open, and clean, with wallabies and kookaburras just outside for an amazing aussie experience! What a cool property and thoughtful host - a thanks for a wonderful little vacation!

    Yael2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Michael is a kind man and an amazing cook! We were lucky enough to try his potato bake and it was nothing short of divine! He accommodated for our vegetarian food requirements last minute and was more than welcoming and was happy to give us a few tips and tricks for things to do around the area! Make sure to not let the drive in scare you off, as stated, his property is a work in progress and eventually will be fit for over 15 people in the one house! Make sure to bring your own towel and shower stuff. Overall, he was a great host!

    Giulio2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • When you book a bed, you will automatically get a whole house to yourself. There are several buildings on the property. The location has direct views of Nimbin rocks and the magnificent Hanging Rocks waterhole for swimming is approximately 20km drive from here. Mik is a very friendly host who is working on site every day. The bed was comfy and I enjoyed the large kitchen and the gorgeous old trees on the property.

    Sabine Ekanta2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Super friendly ... super easy booking.. great communication and it was just an oasis. 5 mins up the road from beautiful Nimbin, plenty of room for a big family. Accomodation was more then adequate, and if you are lucky enough to experience Miles cooking, especially the “banoffe” pie then you’re in for a real treat. There’s simply no other place in Nimbin that provides value and friendly home style accomodation like Mikes places (you won’t get better, cheaper or friendlier accomodation on Airbnb anywhere in Australia then Mike’s place!) Thanks a lot Mike!

  • Tomo's cottage is amazing! If you need a space to relax and unplug, this is the place! The cottage is clean and all necessities are provided. Our favourite spot was in the fold out lounge chairs under the magnificent mango tree. We also appreciated that Tomo's cottage is eco friendly and dog friendly. I know there was much more of the property we never got to explore and hope to do this on our next stay.

  • The converted horse stables with Hello Mr Ed door feature was a lovely surprise. It was clean, peaceful, had great amenities and an excellent opportunity to get back in touch with nature. The outdoor bathroom had a gorgeous view of the green paddocks and huge mango tree and the walk around the property was also beautiful especially for our Pup Hugo who loved the space to run around. Chloe the dog was also a lovely friendly dog for our dog Hugo to play with. Her little surprise visits to say hello at the door were extra special. It was a short drive to local suburb Uki as well as Nimbin for coffee and eats. Thank - you Tomo & Rico, we will be back again one day!

Have a bush experience in 'The TreeHouse'. Located in the scenic Tweed hinterland, close to quiet surf beaches and the resort towns of Pottsville, Brunswick Heads and Byron Bay. Parklands venue is also only minutes away. Open to the air and up in the trees with the birds, and at times, carpet snakes and possums. Private studio room, with double bed, basic kitchen, wash area, porta loo, cold shower (outside), desk and sitting area. Deluxe continental breakfast included.
There is nothing else like it. It's like glamping and and will suit those wanting a bit of an adventure. You are up with the trees and open-aired, yet cosy and safe and sound, away from any creepy crawlies on the ground. In summer it is cool and shaded and breezey. In winter the sun slants in through the trees all through the space, making it soft and warm and a perfect place to doze and relax in the sun. The shower is cold so you may want to have a hot bucket bath in the wash area with the ceramic oscillating tower heater blowing against you keeping you warm. And the bed is snuggly warm with an electric blanket. It is so lovely being in that space, and at night it comes alive with nocturnal wildlife. Using the spotlight you can look straight out onto possums feeding and squabbling amongst themselves, and gorgeous sugar gliders in the moonlight, leaping and gliding from tree to tree. You will hear dingos calling around the full moon when the night sky is high and bright. During the day the only sounds are birds and the breeze and distant tractors. Wedgetail eagles live and nest on our hill, as do so many other birds. There are wallabies, monitors, echidnas and so many frog species. There are beautiful sunset views across the hills and storms are really exciting. So much to see and hear and experience. We like to make our guests feel special, so we provide you with a complementary welcome drink (beer, champagne, red wine or cider....you choose) and nibblies and/or chocs, a beautiful and huge! deluxe continental breakfast, and locally made organic toiletries. We are also collecting an assortment of games and puzzles.
Crabbes Creek is a beautiful rural area. It is centrally located to unpatrolled quiet beaches and great resort towns of Pottsville, Byron Bay, Brunswick Heads. Our General Store/Bottle Shop is only 5mins away and can provide all your grocery needs. Parklands venue is only 8mins away. Or you can stay in the TreeHouse and relax and read, paint, sleeping is wonderful up there! or go for bush walks or borrow one of our bikes and go for a cycle down beautiful Crabbes Creek Rd to the waterhole for a swim. We can also tell you about all the birds and wildlife and what to look out for.

  • Michaels place is an awesome value location to discover the super close little hippie village Nimbin or to just enjoy the easy and relaxed vibe of being in the nature and having your own space. We had breakfast with little Wallabies a few meters away and got invited every night for a super delicious self-made dinner from Michael who’s an ongoing chef next to building everything around the houses himself. We got our own private space but always felt welcomed to have a chat and Michael helped wherever he could (also when we had issues with our car). We are really happy with our stay, thanks Michael!

The Dairy is a funky little place for two...or a solo adventure of solitude. It's an old, characterful dairy, so nothing State of the Art here...just light, bright, airy and comfortable. Situated in the little village of Dunoon, with it's cool general store , post office and school (all within a gentle 5 min walk), a picturesque drive to waterfalls, bush walks and the infamous Channon markets. A 20 minute drive from Lismore or Clunes, 30 mins from Bangalow or Federal and 45 mins from Byron Bay
The Dairy has a comfy queen bed, a hot shower, a washing machine TV, DVD player and a kitchen with gas top, microwave and a very small benchtop-oven. The Dairy has some games, books, DVD's and a well stocked pantry for you to prepare meals. It's a quiet, private space which you have entirely to yourself.
Dunoon is a quiet village with a little school, a post office and a friendly, well-stocked general store which is open from 7am-7pm. It's 9 mins from The Channon, with it's art gallery, tea rooms, fabulous monthly market and the astoundingly beautiful Protestors Falls are a further 13 mins at Terania Creek. The very beautiful Minyon Falls is half an hour from The Dairy, as are the lovely villages of Bangalow and Federal. Byron Bay is a further 15 mins past these.
  • A comfortable place for two in a pretty town, close to lismore. It has all the comforts and generous teas, soaps etc. Very happy!

  • Mark is a very gentle and helpful man. I very liked the time spent with him hanging out and chatting. He’s a very intelligent person and traveled himself a lot, so has also very nice experiences to tell. He knows also very well nimbin. The position of the house is perfect, cause in 5 minutes walking you reach the beginning of nimbin’s main street (cullen st.)... then everything starts! :) Anyway I would recommend Mark’s place to anyone who would like to explore nimbin properly!

Valleydale Cottage is the ideal relaxing holiday destination for two. You'll have complete privacy with the cottage and 10 acres to yourself and your partner. You are close enough to enjoy the colour and diversity of the Byron Bay region.
The cottage has been built in a farmhouse style with recycled wood. A verandah wraps around the cottage on all 4 sides giving access to fabulous valley and farmland views.
Your cottage is located in a rural farming community with Federal village store only a short 9 minute drive away. Many local farmers sell organic produce direct from the farm gate. Minyon Falls is a short 15 minute drive from the cottage - after rain the falls are spectacular. You can enter either from the bottom (for fit people) or the top for a short stroll.
  • The cottage is spectacular and will be your own piece of peace for as long as you choose to stay. Loretta and Martyn gave me lots of advice and tips about the area which I took on board. Martyn also leant me his rain jacket which came in handy.' Everything about the cottage was delightful from the moment I entered the cottage. The welcome basket has you set for the day with organic bread, eggs, local cookies, coffee and a bottle of red. The cottage itself has a beautiful verandah that wraps around and is just perfect for chilling, listening and watching the world (or lack of) go by. I made use of the webber BBQ to cook meals at night. Bring your supplies if you just want to be at the house. One of the highlights is the spa that takes in the entire view. And if you have to do some work like I did, the internet is up to speed. Did I mention the best sleep? Super comfy bed and linen made me hit snooze and then not even set an alarm the following days,. I will be back to enjoy this piece of peace in the hinterland

    Greg2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Loretta is a great host and shared her wonderful cottage with us. With spectacular views and quiet location it is truely an escape to relax and unwind. Felt like home as soon as we arrived and didn’t want to leave. Can’t wait until next time!

    Andrea2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a fantastic place! My wife and I stayed here for 3 days and loved every second. Spectacular view across rolling hills and bushland, the cottage is very cute and has all the comforts of home. Best part is that it's located away from anyone else with it's own private driveway, not a neighbour in site, complete solitude. We will be staying here again, it's the perfect getaway we will want to do on a regular basis.

    Ian2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks again Loretta, just completing a review of our stay.

    Rhys2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • The photos cannot capture just how breathtaking and tranquil this place really is. Every moment was absolute bliss, from meeting Loretta, to driving down the magical, fairytale like gravel driveway, to opening the door and seeing the jaw dropping views. The home has everything you could possibly need and is impeccably furnished. We barely left the property and spent most of our time on the porch taking in the views, cooking beautiful food and relaxing in the jacuzzi. I would recommend this incredible place to EVERYONE. It’s one of a kind. We cannot wait to come back again!

  • What a beautiful little cottage tucked away in the rainforest. Very accommodating & very private. Great for a couple getaway or some time in solitude. Some nice features were the spa bath, the fire with wood and kindling ready, the double shower & breakfast ingredients provided. Very comfortable bed too! Treat yourself x

    Kwaÿ2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • The view is SPECTACULAR! We would love to wake up to that every day. Our stay was amazing and Loretta went above and beyond with her hospitality to ensure our stay was excellent. If you are looking for a place to stay in the area look no further, you should definitely stay here.

  • Lovely place and lovely people. Laura and Malcolm's place is quiet, private and very comfortable. And did I mention the view of Wollumbin!! It is fantastic and our hosts made us feel that we could go and sit on their viewing deck anytime. The swimming pool was also very good = it is just next to their house. Laura provides many thoughtful touches and generous supplies for breakfast including muesli, eggs, bacon and crossiants. We also enjoyed the nearby town of Uki especially the coffee at the Post Office and were given a guided tour of the coffee roasting process and pink coffee grinder by owner Gary. The other thing we loved was our lunch at the nearby Rainforest Cafe. Both of these places were suggested by Laura. Thank you Laura and Malcolm for your kind hospitality and we hope to see you again.

    Kathryn2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Laura's cottage is located in a beautiful area of southern QLD. A comfortable and spacious private space that is easy to find. Close to amenities yet rural enough for peace and quiet as well as bird life and wildlife. Loved it!

    Ross2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona and Richard have created a very peaceful space to relax. The house was sparking clean! We loved the warm light and breeze filtering in through the house in the late afternoon. Sitting at the bar table and in the bathtub gazing out at Wollumbin was very special. We enjoyed the beautiful rose and lavender bath crystals and delicious coffee! Very thoughtful. The compost toilet design is very admirable! Something we hope to recreate ourselves! Thanks for being great hosts. We’ll be back for sure. 💚😊

  • We just enjoyed 4 nights of pure serenity and the outdoor bath is as relaxing as it can possibly get. It’s the perfect little off the grid getaway, designed for comfort and practicality. For nature lovers (like myself) I was taken with the daily visits of each koala, wallaby and possum. I’m not sure if this is all year round, but I’m allergic to every insect imaginable but there were barely any at all. I didn’t even bust out the aeroguard. A marvellous way to bring in the new year!

  • Such a nice people and beautiful place and incredible view

    Ali2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • I had such a fabulous week on my own at Stony Chute retreat with Fiona & Richard being the perfect hosts & experienced property owners. I felt very welcomed & assisted & given absolute privacy to enjoy the magic of the mountain bushland & wild life. The view. Omg. It is quite devine & captivating. I felt alive, at peace & safe. I enjoyed myself & have returned home still beamed up by the whole eco cabin experience. I felt like a king. It's lush & simple & got more than you could need. I consulted Fiona for an astrology chart reading which i found very caring, clear & easy to comprehend. These 2 are clever, wise, creative souls i reckon. I trust Fiona will be making a medicinal herbal potion for me soon. I trust her. I was open to all the medicines & healing the setting could offer. I took a 2hr bushwalk with Richard to the local trig point. He was a natural on the land & explaining interesting facts & showing me things to learn about the local nature. Plus was keen to answer my every curiosity. Given I had an injury he was very helpful in pulling me up the hill & we both had a lot of fun. I'm so grateful to them for sharing this sanctuary with others. I'd like to come back in winter. Or anytime in fact. Thanks so much a trip of my life Kind Regards Lexton

Nimbin is a village in the Northern Rivers area of the Australian state of New South Wales, approximately 30 km (19 mi) north of Lismore, 33 km (21 mi) northeast of Kyogle, and 70 km (43 mi) west of Byron Bay. Nimbin is notable for the prominence of its environmental initiatives such as permaculture, sustainability, and self-sufficiency, as well as the cannabis counterculture. Writer Austin Pick described his initial impressions of the village this way: "It is as if a smoky avenue of Amsterdam has been placed in the middle of the mountains behind frontier-style building facades. ... Nimbin is a strange place indeed." Nimbin has been described in literature and mainstream media as 'the drug capital of Australia', 'a social experiment', and 'an escapist sub-culture'. Nimbin has become an icon in Australian cultural history, with many of the values first introduced there by the counterculture becoming part of modern Australian culture. History Nimbin and surrounding areas are part of what is known as the "Rainbow Region", which is of cultural importance to the Indigenous Bundjalung people. The name Nimbin comes from the local Whiyabul (Widgibal) clan who’s Dreamtime speaks of the Nimbinjee spirit people protecting the area. Since in the year 1,973, the area has been a haven for Australia's counterculture. Forests of red cedar first attracted loggers to the area in the 1840s, but by the end of the century most of the land had been cleared. With the cedar forests gone, Nimbin was subdivided in 1903, with the land turned over to dairy farming and growing bananas. In the 1960s, the local dairy industry collapsed due to recession and Nimbin went into serious economic decline until 1973, when the Aquarius Festival, a large gathering of university students, practitioners of alternative lifestyles, hippies, and party people, was held in the village. The festival was the first event in Australia that sought permission for the use of land from the Traditional Owners and made a significant attempt at reconciliation. After the festival, hundreds of participants and festival goers remained in Nimbin to form communes and other multiple-occupancy communities, in search of an "alternative lifestyle". Nimbin in fact made legal history for the first ever application of group title ownership of land in Australia. Since the Aquarius Festival, the region has attracted thousands of writers, artists, musicians, actors, environmentalists, and permaculture enthusiasts, as well as tourists and young families escaping city life. Interviews were conducted in 1992 documenting the alternative lifestyle movement of Northern NSW in the 1970s, focusing on the town of Nimbin and the 1973 Aquarius Festival. Interviewees discussed how they arrived in Nimbin, their efforts at organising the Aquarius Festival, and the lasting impact the festival had on the township. In 1979, the Nimbin community staged the "Battle for Terania Creek" to protect the remaining local rainforest. As a result, the New South Wales government imposed a "no rainforest logging" policy covering the entire state, the world’s first government legislation to protect a rainforest. The population of Nimbin before the failure of the dairy industry in 1961 was 6,020. In the 2006 census, Nimbin had a population of 352, compared to 321 in the 2001 census. The region's high rural population (35 percent of Lismore residents, according to the census) means that Nimbin services a surrounding rural area of about ten thousand people living within 15 km (9.3 mi). Nimbin had the highest unemployment rate in the Lismore Local Government Area in 2006, at 18.1 percent. Nimbin's population in the 2011 census was 468. The 2016 census published Nimbin's population as 319, with local services provided by the City of Lismore (its area containing 45,000 people). Cannabis culture and MardiGrass In New South Wales the cultivation, possession, or sale of cannabis is punishable by law. In Nimbin, cannabis used to be openly bought, sold, and consumed. The prevalence of a drug culture in Nimbin since 1973 has been accompanied by a prevalence of collective and public creativity: colorful and spiritually motivated art (including large paintings above shop awnings), music, poetry, craft, and fashion can all be seen on the main street. The town is known as a hotspot for alternative social activities, grassroots political discourse, and the espousal of naturalist, humanist, anarchist, feminist, libertarian, permissive, new-age, mystical, and radical social philosophies (which can all be seen as collective creative endeavors). To rally for an end to the prohibition of cannabis in Australia, Nimbin has held an annual MardiGrass festival since 1993. On the first weekend with any part of it in May, thousands descend on Nimbin for cannabis-oriented fun and frivolity. Activities include: a Prohibition Protest Rally and Parade with the Ganja Faeries, the Nimbin Cannabis Cup, the Hemp Olympix, which includes the Bong "Throw'n'Yell", Joint Rolling, and the Grower's Iron Person event, where runners must first carry a 20 kg (44 lb) sack of fertiliser, then a bucket of water, and finally "the crop", as a tribute to the difficulties faced by growers in the hills, and to show that cannabis users can be fit and healthy. At night, entertainment ranges from the Harvest Ball and Picker's Ball, rave doof parties, to poetry and jazz in local cafes. There are a number of shops in Nimbin geared towards cannabis culture. The Nimbin Hemp Embassy is a "soft entry point for drug information", and a shop selling anything to do with hemp, except cannabis itself. Clothing and natural skin products using industrial hemp products. The Nimbin HEMP Bar used to allow patrons to smoke cannabis while enjoying fresh coffee and cake. In April 2008, the police announced their intention to close the HEMP Bar and Museum. Landlords were sent letters to this effect. Rather than cause legal problems for their landlord, the HEMP Bar crew voluntarily closed their doors and moved out. The HEMP Bar reopened in 2009 as a coffee and hemp information centre, but smoking of cannabis is no longer encouraged. The Nimbin Museum was a collection of local artifacts, local art, and alternative culture open for viewing. The Museum and two other buildings were destroyed in a fire on 13 August 2014. There are plans to rebuild a proper museum at the site. Police intervention The level of police intervention against drug trafficking has fluctuated over the years; however, the State and Federal Police have never been able to stop or even significantly reduce the prevalence of cannabis use in the village. In April 2008, a squad of 110 officers, six horses, and several police dogs conducted searches in a police operation. Several buildings were searched including the Hemp Embassy. Eight people were arrested, 72 people were issued cannabis cautions, and police seized 4 kilograms (9 lb) of cannabis and cannabis ‘cookies’. The police sent letters to the Nimbin Museum and the Hemp Bar leaseholders indicating an intention to seek closure orders under the Restricted Premises Act of 1943 for the MardiGrass weekend. The Restricted Premises Act allows for the closure of premises for three days and orders may be obtained weekly. The Museum reopened with a new leaseholder while the Hemp Bar remained closed for eight months and reopened in January 2009. CCTV cameras in the main street of Nimbin had pushed dealing off the streets and into the museum, and the Hemp Embassy had been requesting that police deal with the problem. Following the raids, Hemp Embassy volunteer Andrew Kavasilas commented: "This is a real slap in the face for people who would like to see other resources in town. We have been inviting the police to come down and sort out the dealing in the museum for years and this is their response. They could work with the community, but they're not interested." Many locals voiced their opposition to the police operation. Following the operation, Richmond Police local area commander Superintendent Bruce Lyons vowed to "shut down the drug trade.” Attractions Nimbin has a police station, hospital and medical centre, lawyers, real estate agency, service station with NRMA accreditation, restaurants, cafes, and a pub. The pub has an in-house restaurant. There are a number of sporting clubs and the bowling club maintains licensed premises. The Nimbin Neighborhood and Information Centre (NNIC), run by local volunteer residents, offers visitors guides, computers for Internet use, a small Centrelink office, legal advice, a nurse practitioner, a welfare worker, weekly soup kitchen in the adjacent park, and a publishing service for the local newspaper. Local attractions include the town hall, annual MardiGrass, markets, bands, walks to the mountains and day-to-day activities from buskers to street stalls. Other nearby attractions: Nimbin Rocks, a series of jagged outcrops, solidified plugs left after the erosion of volcanic dykes and vents, and Blue Knob, that are both landmarks for the village. Mount Warning (known to the Bundjalung people as Wollumbin, meaning 'cloud catcher'), is about 50 km away. Named by James Cook as a maritime navigational indicator of dangerous offshore reefs, Mt. Warning's summit is the first part of mainland Australia to receive light from each sunrise. Mount Warning is the remaining centre plug of a caldera which, 23 million years ago, had a 100-kilometre (62 mi) diameter. Its height was 1,156 meters (3,793 ft), nearly twice the height of Mount Warning today. The summit of Mt. Warning can be climbed via a 9-km, 5-hour return walk through forested slopes. Nightcap National Park is one of the few remaining places to see the remnants of the Big Scrub rainforest. There are local creeks, water holes, and rivers for swimming. Media The Nimbin Good Times is a free monthly community newspaper, also distributed in Lismore, Byron Bay, and some suburbs of Brisbane and Sydney. Nimbin Zone Magazine is Nimbin's bi-monthly magazine featuring creative and artistic people from Nimbin and beyond. The community radio station, 2NIMFM offers an independent alternative media voice and plays a diverse range of music and programming in Japanese, German, and the Bundjalung language. Wishingwell Farm is a 40 acre property set high in the mountains with views to Border Ranges National Park. We breed miniature cattle, ponies, goats and have ducks, chickens and peafowl roaming free range. We're happy to engage our visitors and encourage interaction with our farm animals and birds during feed time around 4-5pm daily. Our three dogs and house cat just love cuddles or any attention. Take a stroll at dusk and dawn to see the kangaroos and wallabies feeding in our grassy paddocks.
Wishingwell Farm's homestead is built on three levels. The top entry level consists of a hallway with the two guest bedrooms for the Family Farmstay either side and a small undercover verandah area facing north east all for their private use, perfect for a family of four. The second and third level are our private residence and is separated with a door and eight stairs for our guests privacy.
We provide tourist leaflets full information about what you can do and see in the Northern Rivers area. Annie's Cafe is next door where you can enjoy a meal or Devonshire tea with scones, jam and cream. A short 2min drive is Wadeville Woolies general store and bottleshop with laundry facilities, take away meals and some grocery necessities. Take a swim or fossick for crystals at Hanging Rock Falls just 6km drive south west on Williams Rd. Sphinx Rock Cafe has free live music every Sunday with undercover outside dining and a children's sandpit and playground area. Blue Knob Gallery has a small farmer's market every Saturday morning as well as a great place to view and purchase some great local arts and crafts. Paul and volunteers run the Blue Knob Cafe where you can enjoy a scrumptious meal on the undercover verandah, great for breakfast or enjoy home-made cheesecake with great coffee or a selection of teas. Nimbin Pizza Trattoria (byo) makes our favourite pizzas and Armonica Cafe makes their very own delicious pasta and great coffee. We recommend both these Italian restaurants for a great meal. Nimbin Hotel has a small bottleshop, a good selection of pub meals and free live bands on the weekends. Nimbin Bush Theatre has annual fun events. Nimbin Candle Factory is located in the historic old butter factory and is a great place to visit.

'Mini me' is a brand new, funky, sustainable Colorbond & wooden eco-cottage nestled in a beautifully peaceful garden setting at the bottom of my landscaped property, completely separate to my house. It is located next to a garden lane surrounded by mature trees which attract the local birdlife. You'll delight in the privacy of sitting on your own sunny verandah, enjoying breakfast to the sound of birdsong. Please note: no pets are allowed on the property.
The property is located in Geneva, 3km from the Main Street of Kyogle - an enjoyable walk away or 4 min drive.
Fairymount, Kyogle market, wonderful community. Enjoy scenic drives through pristine rainforest - listen to the bellbirds!

Wake up to the sunrise and shower with the birds. The single room apartment has one of the best views in the region. A blue ocean and lush green valley panorama with Byron Bay's iconic lighthouse in the distance. Please read all of the information before booking. Our apartment doesn't suit everyone so consider carefully before going ahead or feel free to ask any questions first.
We have a beautiful rural home near the Crystal Castle ten minutes drive from Mullumbimby with breathtaking views of the ocean and Byron Bay in the distance! Situated on 22 acres of Byron hinterland farm land and bordering a nature reserve we have a great, private single room, self contained apartment on the ground floor of our house for one or two guests. The apartment has a basic kitchenette, laundry, TV, queen size bed, fold out sofa lounge, wifi internet. Entrance is separate to the rest of the house which adds to the privacy. We often don't see guests after check in unless interested in a farm tour. Although you don't have to be vegan to stay with us we prefer not to have meat or similar foods in the house. At least if someone needs to consume animal products we ask they take all the left overs when they depart. We provide a vegan continental breakfast of muesli and soy milk, bananas, local coffee and tea etc. The solar heated rainwater, naturist shower and bath are outside in the garden so it may not suit everyone but anyone who likes to feel at one with nature will love it. It's our most popular feature and comes with a clothing optional area for sun lovers to get an all over tan! It's like showering under a warm waterfall with fresh air and greenery all around. There is NO inside shower or bath so consider if that aspect will suit before booking. There is a shower screen so you won't be seen but we still get complaints about it being outside in the open air and close to the house. Many of our guests are naturists (nudists) who visit the legal nudist beach not far from us and our listing suits free spirited naturist types the best. Nudists often stay in our other Airbnb so if the sight of naked people or the idea of an outdoor shower makes you uncomfortable maybe choose a different Airbnb. The property is a working banana farm. Although we are not certified organic we manage the farm using natural systems and we don't use chemicals. We harvest year round and love showing off the property and farming operation and sharing ideas about landscape management and sustainability, We always have lots of bananas for guests. Over half the property is natural bushland with lots of wildlife including koalas, wallabies, echidnas, rare birds and frogs. We are close to or are part of nature. Sometimes harmless bugs or spiders take up residence in the room but they are completely harmless. We prefer not to use actually harmful toxic sprays so best not to book if you are afraid of bugs or spiders. Rates start at $80 per night and vary according to seasonal demand. Longer term stays are welcome and very negotiable so if you're interested in accommodation for a week or a month or more don't hesitate to contact us and ask questions or make an offer.
Mullumbimby is a cool little town that leans towards an alternative culture. It has some nice arty shops and coffee shops and the town is surrounded by rainforest. There is always something different on offer like alternative workshops, festivals and markets. There are some great bush walks in the area and Minyon Falls is just down the road. The property has some beautiful bushwalks including one to the top of our hill where you will see some of the best views in the region. We are about a 20 min drive from Byron Bay and 15 minutes from the beaches of Brunswick Heads. The closest beach is Tyagarah, a legal nudist beach.
  • Featherview is a beautiful place to stay! The views are beautiful and unlike anything else. Garry and Suzy are lovely hosts that go above and beyond for their guests. This was our second stay and we’ll definitely be back again!

  • Wow. Photos do not do this place justice. View is stunning and hosts are so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend this place.

  • The Airbnb was very tidy. Outside shower was awesome! Garry was a great host.

    Hannah2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The most incredible spot in the Northern Rivers Hinterland. The view and hammock makes one never want to leave. The beautiful mosaic outdoor shower was also a magical touch.

    Dorothy2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Magnificent stay. The first thing that hit us was the tranquility. Nepalese prayer flags, chimes sounding and a hammock. Very, very relaxing. Garry himself was superb - we had a problem with our van and he could not have been more helpful offering lifts. Also lots of little homely touches and the kitchen was surprisingly well kitted out! Super comfy bed and showering outside was liberating. Overall a magnificent stay and would happily recommend.

    Simon2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Garry’s place at Featherview is simply magical. It has the most amazing views, private, and very peaceful. This is my third time staying at the property and would highly recommend to anyone that is interested in being a small drive out of town to enjoy some lovely peace and quiet. Garry and his wife Suzy are both wonderful hosts! Super friendly, easygoing and very quick to respond to any questions. Definitely can’t wait to be back. 10 stars

    Tegan2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This property has incredible panoramic views of the region down to Byron Bay. The room was clean and comfortable, and the bowl of locally grown organic bananas was a great touch, and delicious. Overall a great experience, and Garry is very responsive and helpful.

    Darren2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Garry is incredible host. Our car suddenly broken down so we couldn’t get there that night and I had to cancel my booking without refunds as Airbnb’s policy, I understand that, then Garry have offered us staying there the following night with no extra fee. I really appreciate that. He was very quick to respond with any questions. He is also flexible with check-in and check-out time, which was extremely helpful.

  • My stay was just perfect. The cabin was so lovely and peaceful, I was a little bit concerned that it was close to the family home as I was wanting a quiet “mini retreat” weekend but it was no problem at all. The bed was super comfy and the cabin was filled with lots of little touches to make it both luxurious and welcoming. Thanks Peta.

  • Warwick and Mari were very welcoming and accepting hosts. We were lucky enough to eat some delicious food prepared by Mari from her home country of El Salvador. Mari makes a mean breakfast and is very passionate about her organic produce that she grows herself in the gardens they have. We were very well looked after and it's such great value to be so close to the middle of town, just a couple hundred metres to the main street with shops and cafes. Such lovely people and wonderful hospitality.

  • This is a beautiful, quiet and tranquil setting. Chaquita ensured we had a great stay in our private little bungalow. There were lots of thoughtful touches such as filtered water and free eggs in the fridge from her own chooks. Everything you need is provided. We had full use of the pool during our stay and the peace and quiet was amazing. The property is close to Nimbin village for all necessities but set in a beautiful and quiet bush location. Just perfect for recharging and refreshing the soul. We loved it and will be back again.

  • Comfy accommodation on a beautiful property almost under the Nimbin Rocks. Chaquita was a great host and little touches like frangipanis around made us feel welcome. Great stay!

Our retreat chalet is set in a sustainable community (11 kms of walking tracks) and has a yoga and meditation studio onsite. Vegetarian food only in the kitchen, guests have access to fridge, appliances and a gas stove. Sorry, no smoking indoors or pets and this is a fragrance-free zone. Nimbin is only a short drive (15 mins). If you require extra dates, which are blocked, please message me as I can usually unblock them. I like to meet each guest but can leave out the keys if required. Cheers
There is a choice of up-stairs bedroom (larger and warmer) or downstairs bedroom (cooler with more windows). There is a yoga and meditation studio, if you wish to practice, surrounded by nature: numerous birds, goannas, koalas, wallabies, bandicoots and paddy melons. Yoga Space & classes times at: https://www.facebook.com/DharmaCentreLillifield/
Lillifield is a large sustainable community, surrounded by mountains, with great walking tracks and friendly people which has been running off-grid for about 30 years. Each place is solar powered and has rain-water tanks. The area is surrounded by natural forest. There are several National parks within a short drive as well as hanging rock falls just down the road. There is a bottle shop and a convenience store only 3 minutes drive away.

  • Cameron's hideaway is situated in a pristine forest environment full of wildlife! The winter fire in the chalet's combustion stove made it very cosy and there were incredible mountain views from every window!

Come and stay in our charming old barn on the outskirts of Mullumbimby. This historic timber barn has been beautiful renovated with artisan renders and natural building materials to keep its original rustic appearance.
The barn opens up in the back to a deck where you can enjoy the sunset overlooking the flood plains of the Brunswick River. It is furnished with a queen sized comfortable bed, lounge and table/desk. We have a beautiful hot outdoor shower in the garden just perfect to cool down under the starry sky. Attached to the front of the barn is a fully equipped outside kitchen, with dishwasher, gas stove, oven and fridge. A selection of teas, fresh coffee and other bits and pieces will be waiting for you.
The property is in walking distance to town and we have the vibrant Mullumbimby Farmers Market right in front of our doorstep. If you are into horse riding you could visit the neighboring Equestian center. We have so many great massage therapists in the area and I’m more than happy to organize someone who comes here as the barn makes a beautiful space to unwind.
  • We had the most magical weekend! Margit and her husband were extremely accommodating and lovely. The space was so so beautiful and in such a great location nice and close to town! Wish we didn’t have to leave!!
