“If you’re going to Beale, usually the cheapest parking is just above Flying Saucer for usually $1/hour unless there’s a special event. If you’re really looking for a night on Beale, this is a spot to start with a ton of beer and food and just a street over from the start of Beale.”

“Alfred's Restaurant and Bar is well-known around town for its fabulous food and great live music. Alfred's was the first club on Beale Street to feature Rock 'n Roll music. Currently, they feature a variety of genres including acoustic bands, soloists, and even the Memphis Jazz Orchestra, which plays every Sunday night. They offer two patios perfect for both relaxing and partying, as well as a huge dance floor, and karaoke several nights a ”

“Downtown has been revitalized in the past 10 years with tons of fun bars and restaurants opening up as well as a boom in new housing for young professionals. It's generally very safe as long as you stick where the crowds are. Beale Street can be fun to check off the bucket list, but locals prefer the Main Street area where you'll see less touristy restaurants and a trolley that runs somewhat consistently.”

Store
“The only remaining original business on Beale, A. Schwab dates back to 1876. It was opened by Abraham Joseph Schwab as a men’s haberdashery, but it later became more of a dry goods store. Schwab’s is still selling a few dry goods (old-fashioned candies, homemade soaps), as well as Memphis souvenirs. Also an old-timey soda fountain, where soda jerks whip up milkshakes with homemade syrups, but more bizarrely known for a selection of voodoo paraphernalia (candles, spell books, dolls, incenses, etc.). Need to attract new love or ward off evil? Schwab’s has you covered. In fact, the store’s motto is “If you can’t find it at Schwab’s, you’re better off without it.” They’re probably right.”
