My place is only 5km from Bantry Town, on the Wild Atlantic Way. My place is perfect for couples, private, has en suite bathroom, comfy bed, and great views. Walking distance from my house, (literally 5 minutes)is an Award Winning Food Emporium and a bit beyond that, a Pub/Restaurant. There are a lot of tourist attractions, Bantry House, Whiddy Island, Mizen Head, and it’s famous for hillwalking. Bantry has fantastic Restaurants/Bistros to suit every pocket and lovely clothes and craft shops. 😁
As you can see from the photos, your room is attached to the house but has its own private entrance, making it perfect for your own coming and goings. It has its own key so your belongings are safe if you are away for the day. It also has a wardrobe, ironing board, iron and mini fridge.
Bantry is a wonderful sea side town, known for its scenic views and beautiful restaurants. Its a fantastic base location as you have access to Sheeps Head, Mizen Head, Barleycove Beach, and also to the Beara Way and Ring of Kerry, all fantastic tourist attractions. The Marina opened during the summer of 2017, which only adds to the Beauty of Bantry.

  • The accommodation is well placed for visiting the peninsulas of southern Ireland, beautiful areas. The house is spacious enough for 2 people. And its value for money is very correct

Gortavallig is a 200-year-old traditional stone whitewashed cottage, sympathetically restored to retain its original character and charm. It is set in over 100 acres of private land and accessed by a quarter-mile-long private road. It is a few minutes on foot from Glanmore Lake and has fine views of the surrounding countryside and mountains.
The house is actually two cottages joined together. There is a small barn next to it which houses a utility and storage room. There are a few small stone out buildings. The cottage has been featured in various publications including the Guardian, Irish Homes and Interiors, 25 Beautiful Homes and has been used as a location for a photographic catalogue shoot for UK clothing company Toast. Having been restored to retain as many as possible of its original features while adding modern comforts, it does not have a shiny new finish and is more suitable for those seeking a genuinely rustic experience. There is a wood burning stove in the kitchen and another in the living room.
The Beara peninsula is one of the most beautiful scenic places in Ireland. it is great for hiking, swimming, fishing but there are also great restaurants and bars in the local towns and villages. Sub-tropical Dereen gardens are nearby with a lovely tea room. Pedals and Boots cafe in Lauragh also rents bikes. Harringtons shop in Ardgroom has a great selection of food items and a good stock of organic wine. It is 16 miles to Kenmare and about the same to Castletownbere, the second largest fishing port in Ireland. There is a local shop about 2 miles away and Josies Lakeview restaurant is within walking distance. Glanmore lake is a great place for a swim
  • The peace and silence we're priceless. A cottage in a beautiful green surrounding with magnificent views.Perfect accommodation for people who knows to appreciate this. Very good reception. Fresh flower and welcome basket with sweets. Clean house. Great housekeeper. The toaster was defect and just a little later we had a new own. What a service !!!. We surely want to come back to this unique cottage. Thanks Jacqueline and Dympna

  • Don’t wast your money. Going back in time is one thing....sluming it is another. No phone, no internet, no tv, no walks the ceiling leaks....there was a door to an area we did not used. Could not shut the door as it was jamed on the floor so the the fire in the kitchen struggled to heat the little house. It was to be a surprise for my partner....turned in to a nightmare and a massive disappointment for me.

  • Great cottage, located in a fantastic place, calm, isolated and indescribably beautiful. If you, like us, love walking, there's the Beara Way running very close. We didn't go far because of spot flooding on the route, but the view was fantastic anyway. When we reached the Cashelkeelty stone circle, we met a sheep farmer who was very nice and friendly. Later that day, studying a photo book about Tuosist, we recognised him as John Driscoll. There's a great restaurant just around the corner. Best mussels I've ever had. Josie is a great cook!

  • If you'd like to get a taste of the quiet life, or just want a good base to explore the Beara Peninsula then I think you'll struggle to find a better location. It's off the beaten track but that's what made it for me and my family. The lake is beautiful and the views from the house are spectacular. I may just have to return!!

  • We´ve had a wonderful time in this beautiful, cosy cottage! It´s a very athmospherical place and the surrounding nature is impressive! We loved our stay and are going to come back for sure! <3

    Sabine2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time staying in this beautiful cottage. We arrived to a lovely gift basket with delicious treats perfect for our first cup of tea after our long journey. Everything was so warm and welcoming and we knew if we had any problems, they would be taken care of promptly. But we didn't! The views around the cottage are astounding. Plus, the bonus of a beautiful lake for a swim. We had gorgeous warm weather so a swim was the very thing after a day exploring beautiful Kerry. I am already planning when we can come love back again. Gortavallig is so special.

  • If you are looking for a lovely and very quiet place, in a great area, it is the place you have to choose. Very charming and well decorated old cottage in a very nice area. Beara peninsula has a wild environment and you are in the middle of it. Probably we will come back in the future.

Garden house is 3 miles from Kenmare. It is set in 3 acres of mature garden & fields & has a lovely view of the countryside & mountains. We like art, design, cooking & gardening & our home reflects this! Our younger guests might enjoy the swing, treehouse & trampoline. we hope you make our home your home while you stay!
  • Katherine was a great host, very accommodating & checked in on us throughout our stay. Appreciated the thoughtful welcome pack! The house is beautifully decorated, private and is surrounded by great views of the mountains. Would recommend the glengarriff nature reserve walks. Would highly recommend the garden house.

    Laura2018-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning location and a beautifully curated home. Katherine was a lovely and informative host, couldn't fault the experience.

    Georgina2017-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay at the Garden House! Katherine was a great host, very prompt to respond to queries and very accommodating. She had left us little notes as to how to operate the oven and the fireplace and even some homemade bread (which was delicious!) and basic groceries, which was so thoughtful. The house itself is gorgeous and is surrounded by an amazing garden and stunning views over the mountains. We stayed at the Garden House in December and although the weather was a bit gloomy it made it all the more enjoyable to sit in front of the wood burning fire in the living room and enjoy the surrounding views; not to mention Katherine's amazing library! Can't wait to visit the Garden House again and would highly recommend the house, the host and Kenmare to anyone thinking of visiting.

    Sara2017-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Katherine’s place is wonderful. The house is cozy but actually quite large. She left us all the amenities we needed so we weren’t lacking for anything. She is a great communicator. I appreciate it when someone meets you at their place and walks you through all the operations of the house. Once we settled in she was quick to answer any new questions. The home is maybe two miles out of Kenmare. It is very quiet with views of beautiful mountains, valleys and even nearby sheep. The home has a large yard with beautiful gardens. Since it is remote make sure you know how to get there. After the first time it is no problem. All in all, my wife liked Katherine’s home so much she wants to buy it. Buy the way, Kenmare is a wonderful (maybe our favorite) part of Ireland.

    Doug2018-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • This house was the most beautiful and charming place I think I have ever stayed. It was definitely my favorite stop in Ireland. The town of Kenmare is also fantastic. Katherine is a great host, and she made everything so simple for us! We were able to check ourselves in, which was great with our uncertain schedule. Instead of pages of instructions to read, she left post-it-notes of instructions/tips anywhere you may have questions about something. She also left homemade soda bread and jam in the kitchen for us to enjoy upon arrival, so good! I highly, highly recommend adding this adorable garden house to your itinerary!

    Kimberly2018-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • The garden house and location are so beautiful! We wish we could have stayed longer! Kenmare was just a short drive away, and we loved exploring the town! This was the perfect launch point for the Ring of Kerry, which is a must! Lovely Place!

    Chelsea2018-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Katherine’s garden house for two nights. We loved the country setting, very quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend taking a hike up the road behind the house for amazing views of the valley. The house offers it’s own great views from the sun room. The garden house is clean and comfortable with a nice king size bed. Katherine met us at the house and gave us valuable tips on enjoying the area. Five stars. Thanks Katherine!

    Grant2018-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • The photos do not fully render the beauty of the place. The house is extremely cozy and fully equipped. What's more, Katherine is a perfect host, caring and warm. The situation is perfect to radiate in the area. We strongly recommend this address which is also a small paradise for children. A real favorite.

A Cosy chalet with panoramic views of Glenmore Lake from your own private veranda. Ensuite shower, sitting area with fridge and kettle in kitchenette area.
  • An absolute gem of a place. Had a wonderful time in this spectacular spot. The cabin was basic but full of charm and fitted the lakeside setting perfectly. The gourmet breakfast goods provided was an unexpected surprise and very much appreciated. Only very minor down side was there was no internet in the cabin as stated. Honestly, its the perfect place to switch of electrics and enjoy the serenity anyway, but thought it worth noting for anyone that is dependant on it for something. Thank you for sharing this beautiful spot in the mountains Josie.

  • Stayed in Josie's last weekend, 21st April 2018, with my wife and Grandson. We really enjoyed our stay and found the cabin warm and cosy, nicely laid out and with a lovely outdoor seating area. Josie was a great host, providing food in the fridge and also some homemade bread, which was delicious. Everything in the cabin was clean and comfortable, and I had one of my best night's sleep for a long time. The location is lovely, with views of Glanmore Lake from the large windows and also the deck area outside. It would be difficult to find a more peaceful and tranquil location, with the only noise from the birds and perhaps the local livestock. It is a really beautiful location, and a short drive from Healy's Pass, a great location itself, and the drive to it is only about 15 minutes, and offers stunning views of Glanmore Lake and the McGillicuddy Reeks on the drive up the mountain. We didn't try the food in Josie's Restaurant on this occasion but will definitely do so on our next stay. It was great having our own key which allowed us to come and go as we pleased, and this was great. I would highly recommend Josie's to anyone looking for a quiet stay in a really beautiful location. We are already looking forward to a return trip. Liam and Laura Good

  • One of my best experience on Airbnb. The view from the cabin is simply amazing. The beds are really comfortable, and the place is well equiped. Thank you Josie, I would definitly book this place again

    Malik2018-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a basic, no frills, accommodation, but in an outstanding location. Josie runs a restaurant next door to the chalet, which is handy.

    Igor2018-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was superb! Thank you for the lovely experience. Everything was just beautiful. Gorgeous view from the deck of a cozy cottage. Breakfast was delicious and topped our expectations. We had the best morning run around the lake - tranquility at it’s best. We are Definitely coming back!

Built in 1840. Sympathetically (not over) restored. Set in own grass and gravel yard in Glensallagh Gardens homestead. Upstairs: pretty double bedroom with an en suite bathroom. Downstairs: bedroom with twin beds (up 2 stone steps) small galley kitchen and sitting/dinning area. Wood burning stove and night storage heater in colder months.
Tranquillity: a great place to get away from it all. An authentic Irish farmhouse - rustic and humble - not overly restored, but comfortable with everything you need. Please note, this is not a modern house! We have furnished it with pieces we think are in keeping with the cottage (not necessarily antique) but not modern and pristine either. New gas cooker and new microwave in small galley style kitchen. (also blender, kettle, fridge & toaster). Comfortable beds with comfy duvets. All bed linens and towels are included. A large bucket of wood for the stove is also provided at no extra charge.
The cottage is located 5km (3 miles) from the quaint village of Ballydehob with its numerous pubs (offering live music), cafes and restaurants. Approx. 14 km to the market town of Bantry and slightly further to the market town of Skibbereen. 10km to the pretty village of Schull. Ideally located for touring the region, including the walking trails of the Sheeps Head Peninsula, the Beara Peninsula, the Ring of Kerry, Sherkin Island, Cape Clear Island and the Wild Atlantic Way. Whale watching, pony trekking, fishing trips, island tours and sailing all available near by.

  • We had a great stay in Mairead's beautiful house. The location is great and the view from the terrace is beautiful. The hot tub has sweetened the rain in the evening. The equipment was as described, it was very clean and we felt welcome. In the surrounding area you will find a great many and interesting destinations such as the Skelligs, Portmagee, St. Finian's Bay, Derrynane Beach, ... and within walking distance to the pub offers a rustic atmosphere. Unfortunately we did not meet Mairead personally, but she was always available for us. Thanks again for everything.

  • This place was so incredible that it was hard for us to leave! It's the perfect place to stay if you want to alternate between relaxing and exploring/sightseeing. The home was spotless and our host provided us with everything we needed. I even noticed that one of the bathrooms had a bathtub that could be used if you're handicapped or disabled. The view from the backyard is unbelievably beautiful, and we saw a double rainbow after a light rain one afternoon. There's a hot tub. sauna, exercise equipment, walking sticks, a bike, and even an easel to paint. Our host left us some wine and chocolate, as well as a delicious breakfast the next morning. There's plenty of things to do in the area and our host gave us some good suggestions. If you don't book a night hear, you're honestly missing out on an incredible experience!

Caherdaniel and the Ring of Kerry are little bits of Heaven, and it is such a great place to get away for a while. Mairead is such an incredible and kind host, ready to help guide if you need her. It was a special vacation, and we feel truly blessed to have experienced it. If you get the opportunity, visit Mairead and the Wild Atlantic Rest. We left a couple days ago and miss it already. • It was a most beautiful and peaceful place to stay. Nicki was always available for info and advice. Super weather, super scenery. No tv or wifi :-) but excellent 4G service. Local pubs served great food and trad music. We had a day trip to Dursey Island, drove around the Beara loop through the Healy Pass, meditated at Dzogen Beara, swam, walked and chilled. Highly recommended for mind, body and soul.

  • If you want to stay in a place that offers a wonderful opportunity for rest and renewal, this is it. If you want to stay in a place that offers you access to some of the most incredible scenery in Ireland and beyond, this is it. If you want to stay in a place that is a short walk from a beautifully situated village with all the amenities that might need, this is it. If you want to stay in a place that is great value for money and overseen by people of genuine niceness, calm, helpfulness and sincerity, this is it. Perhaps these qualities too often go unnoticed, and are not sufficiently acknowledged but they stand out from our trip to Allihies. Right now, we're figuring out how soon can we get back there, and, in that, is possibly the best recommendation we can offer.

Our house is the last one on a small lane surrounded by fields, trees, birdsong and stunning views across Kenmare Bay
Haven of wildlife (not the neighbours)! The house is the last on quiet laneway. The loudest thing you'll hear will be the odd deer. Travelling from the back of the house takes you on the scenic route to Killarney, but only 2 miles away is our lovely local pub, The Blackwater Tavern run by the O'Neill Family. Situated at a crossroads, it has a petrol station, small grocery shop and Post a Office. There is music at the weekends with set dancing most Sunday nights.

  • Overlookin was a wonderful home to stay in. Beautiful scenery and surrounds and very quiet. Great variety of restaurants, pubs and cafes but to be honest was amazing to just stay at home and relax and enjoy the breath taking views. Marie was a great host and very thoughtful.

  • We stayed at Marie`s house for a long-weekend and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings & area. The house is in a quiet, residential area with a great view over the bay and is perfect for a family stay. It was well-equipped and comfortable, we really appreciated Marie`s hospitality. The location of the house is great to explore both the Kerry coastline and the Killarney national park. A car is a must to reach the house (as well as to explore the area) since it is a bit off the main road.

  • Comfortable and welcoming house on the ring of Kerry, the view is superb! Plan to be connected (or plug gps) to find the place on arrival.

  • Great views! Good location near Kenmare, beautiful town with great restaurants. Spacious house and very accommodating host.

  • Marie and Maria were great hosts to my family and I on our recent trip to Kenmare. The house is in a beautiful setting with amazing views over Kenmare Bay. It is in a secluded setting but not too far from Kenmare for trips to the shops, restaurants or pubs - about a 10min drive. The house is well equipped for a big gang of people. It is nicely decorated and the upstairs living room is a lovely space to relax and enjoy the views. There is no wifi but the 4G signal was strong. Marie was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. I would highly recommend her home to anyone looking to holiday in Kerry.

  • The location of the cabin is ideal for a stay in Kerry, because of its convenient location you can enjoy the Ring of Kerry without falling on the tourist crowds. On arrival you can be scared of the outside impression, but inside the "cottage" offers everything you need and a nice ambience. Hanny is a very gracious hostess.

    Jacqueline2018-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Cool place with stunning views of Kenmare bay. Hanny is a great host and really shows she cares about her guest experience and is on a continuous improvement journey, from already high standards.

    Dan2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place, overlooking the bay of Kenmare. Perfect for those seeking calm, the sheep being our only close neighbors. Hanny and her family were very nice and good advice for walks in this beautiful area. The accommodation is spacious and well equipped.

    Alexandra2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. The cabine is very well furnished with all equipment to cook and for babies (baby chair, baby bed and more). We enjoy the view and the neightboors the sheeps, the wood stove, and the great location to discover the ring of Kerry. Hanny is a very nice host with kind attentions: flowers, fresh fruits, tea and coffee. The dog is adorable. Thank you so much :)

    Marine2018-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely comfortable cabin ticked all the boxes for us. It has been lived in extensively by the family and so it works really well. Our hosts were very warm and welcoming. It doesn't look much from the outside, but it is well equipped, spacious and had everything we needed, including a dishwasher! It is about eight kilometres from Kenmare, which is a pretty Irish town with plenty of restaurants, pubs, shops and night life! The cabin is very quiet, (apart from the stream running nearby and the occasional cry of a deer) completely dark at night and has the most incredible views. The bed is very comfortable so we slept very well. We arrived in the dark and were delighted in the morning to see the water and the mountains. The property is very well positioned to explore the Ring of Kerry and also the Ring of Beara. The road to Killarney through the National Park is incredibly pretty in all weathers and Killarney itself is a delightful town. Glengarriff , on the Beara peninsula must rank as one of Ireland's prettiest towns. There are also some great walks from or near the property. Very highly recommended.

The house is bright and peaceful and is located a few minutes walk from Dunboy castle and the coastal walks around Dunboy woods. Situated near to Castletownbere it is an ideal base from which to explore the scenic Beara peninsula
Very quiet and surrounded by beautiful scenery and nature
  • Declan went out of his way to make us comfortable during our stay there. He came to meet us in town to guide us to his house. The room was spacious and brightly lit. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and the private sauna was a very nice touch. We can definitely recommend his place.

    Fiona2018-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for secluded, then this is the place for you. The house is modern and spotless with every convenience. Declan is relaxed and a great host, very accommodating. Really enjoyed our stayhere

    Marie-Louise2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Coolest guy! We were lost in town due to wrong GPS coordinates (absolutely my fault). No problem! Declan picked us up, we followed his car. For the rest of the evening we had the whole ground floor for ourselves. Using the kitchen and all the stuff was no problem at all. He even offered us his indoor-sauna. Unfortunately, we didn't have time for that after cooking. PS: Coming from Cologne in Germany (very busy city of couse), we especially enjoyed the absolute silence at his place. Recommended!

    Simon2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and wonderful host! Thank you for everything.

  • Declan is a great host and his house is in a perfect location for exploring the Ring Of Beara. It was good to be near Castletown Bere and his house is just off the main road in a very historic and peaceful area. The house is spotless and comfortable. We could not ask for anything more. We will definitely be back to Declan's for our next trips to Beara. Thanks again Declan. Paddy and Jerry

    Paddy2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Declan's place is amazing! His house is super cool, secluded and spacious and the surrounding area is stunningly beautiful. There are loop walks along the bay and to the castle. Staying there was a real treat, the room is nice and spacious and everything was spotlessly clean. There is a large kitchen, yummy breakfast and even a sauna you can use! We felt very welcomed and Declan is a great host and a very nice guy. He even dropped us off at the bus stop in the morning so that we didn't have to walk. We would highly recommend staying there and will surely come back at some point.

  • Sean’s beautiful Turf Cottage was a very special treat on our Ireland adventure. We had such a warm welcome that continued to be generous, thoughtful and fun hospitality throughout our stay. Every little detail in the cottage has been so considered, you can feel how much care has gone into creating this incredible place and it truly forced us to wind down and pace ourselves. With the beautiful views and surrounding scenery, and town so close by, we could easily have extended our stay and were very sad to have to leave. Thank you Mairead, Jack and Sean!

    Kate2018-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Despite the exceptional weather (storm Emma) with lots of cold & snow, we really enjoyed our stay at Turf Cottage. The weather conditions, as in many Irish households, caused that the water pipe was partially frozen. But it was very fast and courteous to take care of us. The cottage is decorated with a lot of detail and it is simply not missing anything.

    Lisa2018-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 3 nights in the little seaside haven that was The Turf Cottage. This small but perfectly formed space was an ideal base to travel the Beara peninsula which we did via walking, hiking and cycling. The bed was super comfortable and we loved all the books which offered peaceful evening entertainment with the happy absence of a TV. My only negative was the lack of a curtain on the huge bedroom window. As I light sleeper I struggled with this but on the other hand my partner loved being able to see the stars from the bed! Mairead and Jack were lovely hosts and made us feel very welcome and at home. Thanks for everything!

    Lisa2017-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect, be it the house or the environment. Would highly recommend.

  • This is an absolutely stunning property in a beautiful location. Its easy to reach and near to great locations along the wild atlantic way. The space was warm and very stylish. We loved it!

My place is on the award-winning Sheeps Head walkway and cycle routes. You’ll enjoy the panoramic views of the hills, the Mizen peninsula, the location, the outdoor space, the peace and quiet of the countryside and easy access to the coast. My place is good for couples and solo adventurers. You will need your own transport as public transport is not available beyond the local town of Bantry. In Bantry there are two large hotels with indoor pool and gym facilities open to visitors, and a cinema
My studio apartment offers tranquility in an unspoiled rural setting, and easy access to excellent walk and cycle routes. I enjoy sharing my knowledge of local places that you can visit to make the most of your holiday. The accommodation is self-contained with its own front door and outside parking/seating area, accessed from a shared driveway. It is a split-level open plan space, with the bedroom accessed via a staircase, a wet room with electric shower and heater, a kitchen with basic cooking facilities and an open lounge/dining area, lit by a wall of glass windows that slide back to allow easy access to the outside.
The Sheep's Head is part of the Wild Atlantic Way, a driving route that takes in the south west, west and north-west coasts of Ireland, with many loop drives and spectacular scenery. From this peninsula you can easily access the Mizen and Beara peninsulas, with many pretty villages, fishing ports and ferries to seven inhabited islands. Kayaking, yachting, swimming and line fishing are all available locally. There is a good golf course in Bantry that welcomes visitors and can arrange a local to play a round with. Local people are friendly and welcome visitors. There is a market on Fridays in Bantry, and a fair range of shops, restaurants and bars. There is wonderful light and little light pollution, so clear nights are great for star-gazing.

Newly decorated cottage a mere 3km from the picturesque town of Kenmare, this home is an ideal base for exploring local amenities as well as touring on the Ring of Kerry and Beara Peninsula. As well as proximity to the beautiful, bustling town of Kenmare, the house is accompanied by a large, private, mature garden thus also offering the best of Irish countryside relaxation.
    Beautifully serene countryside surroundings.
  • Great location very close to town but still out amongst the trees and deer. Woke up to deer on the lawn outside our window which was an absolute highlight.

  • What a great Host Martina was... very helpful and punctual. The house itself is really super clean and stylish. Loads of towels, pillows etc. Such a quiet place just outside of the beautiful town of Kenmare. Loads of parking...huge lawn...very private but not isolated completely. Great experience all round. Couldn't recommend it more.

  • I fell in love with this place as soon as i stepped in to the bungalow. All very new, very nice interior. Rooms are big, the bungalow is bright and very spacious. Its out in the green but youre in the center of the village in a few minutes drive. Perfect location to explore the south west coast. Martina welcomed us and came for the check out. We were always in contact during our stay and always got a quick response. Very nice lady! I would definately recommend this beautiful bungalow and can immagine to go back there for longer than just a few days. Wild rabbits and deer on the fields in the back garden was a highlight for me.

  • This is a wonderful place to relax by the sea. Wendy made sure we were well taken care of and gave us directions to some of the local places we should visit. The house was well equipped and comfortable.

  • Our stay here had a few problems. Finding it was a bit difficult, even with the directions. But we did find it eventually and got inside with no problem. Unfortunately once we were inside we found that there was no WiFi. We were pretty reliant on WiFi to help us solidify plans, so that was disappointing. The shower was impossible to have at a good temperature. Rooms were clean and neat. There are several small heaters and we took advantage. If you are looking for somewhere secluded, this is the spot. Views were lovely. Beds were comfortable and cozy. Wendy was very kind and we had a good talk with her.

    Janille2018-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a nice stay at Wendy`s cottage. She was very kind and helpful. The path to her cottage was a little bumpy cause the streets are pretty narrow there and the accommodation is pretty remote, but therefore its very quite and idyllic. You have everything you need there for a stay. The first day it was a bit cold, but there are electric heaters, so bringing slippers is not a bad idea. You can visit huge parts of the Atlantic way in this region as well as white sandy beaches. The internet connection didn`t really work out for us, there was one connection with costs but Wendy also offered to use her`s if its really urgent. Overall it was an enjoyable stay. Greetings from Vienna :)

  • The communication with Marina and Frank was uncomplicated and very friendly. The chalet is cosy and clean and a good starting point to visit the sea and to go hiking in the mountains. We really enjoyed our stay there.

  • A great little cottage close to a beautiful village and nature reserve. Marina and Frank went out of there way to make sure we were happy. Highly recommended.

    Chris2017-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Marina and Frank's chalet was easy to find with the directions we were given. It's a lovely place with all the amenities you could wish for. Very very clean. Marina and Frank were both very welcoming and friendly. Very quiet, about 5 minute drive from the main road of Glengariff with its pubs and live music. Places stop serving food fairly early (9-9.30pm) so try not to arrive too late.. The place is ideal for a couple or two friends that are comfortabel sleeping in a double bed. Definitely would stay there again, it's a lovely clean place.

    Veronika2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Marina and Frank's chalet is very clean, quiet and well situated relative to Glengariff, Bantry and Ring of Beara. Supportive and obliging hosts. Would stay here again next time.

  • Catherine welcomed us very warmly in her beautiful house. The house is very comfortable and very well equipped, perfectly clean. You have a vast and cozy space. The garden is absolutely beautiful. It is possible to eat outside. The house is located in the ring of Kerry, you can go for a walk from the house by joining the Kerry trail. The lovely little town of Sneem is only a few kilometers away. The place is ideal for a family. Communication with Catherine was very easy, she gave us a lot of good advice and explanations. We recommend this house!

    Frédéric2018-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure to stay at this place. A very nice house. Checking in and out very easy and comfortable. Everything you need was provided. A lot of space. Good contact to Catherine . It was perfect. Best way to get there is a car. We definitely will come again :)

    Verena2018-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine is a new host who is learning and making adjustments based on her experience. We were surprised with the undisclosed additional charge for electricity; however, that is now disclosed in the listing. This family house is spacious with generously sized rooms. The gardens are beautiful. The kitchen has everything you need to cook whatever you may want (Americans note that the fridge is European-sized with a small, separate freezer.) It is also very clean. The best thing able staying here would be the location. It is away from the tourist area and peaceful, yet close to everything. Whether a large family with young children or a group of three couples, you would be comfortable.

    Marla2018-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Although off the beaten path Catherine's home is a beautiful oasis surrounded by well manicured gardens and plenty of room for a family trip. We plan on visiting Ireland again and will definitely make Catherine's home a favorite on our places to stay.

    Julia2018-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine's house is in a scenic location about 10 minutes east of Sneem village. The garden is lovely, and views of the mountain are spectacular, especially from the living and (separate!) dining room. There is plenty of room, everything is clean and pleasant, and although the road is not far, there was no traffic noise. Next door is a working farm, and there was the occasional quaint moo, which we considered a plus, not a minus. Catherine was a perfect hostess, met us at the house to familiarize us, and was also helpful when we had a technological problem in the evening, driving back from Sneem to straighten it out for uCatherine calls her place a budget accomodation, and I would agree that the value is excellent.

    Kristin2018-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay if you are visiting this area. Very good value! A spacious, clean modern house with everything you could need. Full kitchen. Family bathroom and one room ensuite as well. The 2 beds our group slept in were very comfortable. There were only 3 of us and it almost felt like a waste to have so much space - 3 bedrooms with 4 beds, living room, dining room and a full kitchen with all the equipment you could need. Very convenient to explore the coast around this area - Kenmare, Sneem, Derrynane, etc. I would recommend anyone who is visiting the area to choose this house.

    Fergus2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very easy to find, lovely spacious house with all amenities that you would need for a break away. Lovely outside space also for nice evenings. Ideally placed for getting to Sneem or back to Kenmare, will be back!

This is the ultimate Glamping experience! Our craftsmen built Caravan, overlooking the Caha mountains is a small, warm space, ideal for hikers, or as a romantic get-away! With its bespoke wooden interior, comfortable seating bench, breakfast counter, built-in double bed, plenty of storage and a near 360degree view of the mountains, this is an incredible place to be, all year round! A comfortable shower-room and kitchen are just across from the hut.
A walkers paradise, we are living on 5 acres of rugged land. We are a small-holding with 3 different holiday homes, a lovely menagerie of animals and nature all around!
We are the last house at the end of a steep and windy boreen (single track road). We have 2 lovely neighbouring families, close enough for help, but far enough for privacy
  • Highly recommended, the caravan is very cute and located in the middle of the mountains - the atmosphere is therefore really breathtaking. Very nice hosts, so you feel very comfortable!

    Annika2018-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • The caravan is really just as beautiful as in the pictures! A few meters away there is a bathroom and a perfectly equipped kitchen, everything is very new. But at least as great is the environment, both the property itself, as well as the whole region. We did Ireland as a tour, but it would be worth it to spend a few weeks alone in this place.

    Christine2018-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • The stay in the wooden caravan with Antje & Kevin was a dream! The grounds and the surrounding views are breathtaking, my sister and I enjoyed every minute. Antje has the caravan and the associated kitchen & bathroom lovingly and with attention to detail furnished, here was really everything. And their tips for activities in the area were also perfect. We'll be back! Thank you for the great time!

    Nadine2018-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I were looking for a rugged and isolated home where we could enjoy the Irish countryside. Antje's place was exactly what we were looking for. The caravan was cozy and had amazing views of the mountainside. The location is also perfectly situated for both hiking the nature reserve where her home is and exploring the Ring of Beara. Antje went truly above and beyond as a host, giving us great advice on things to do and amazing hospitality.

    Catherine2018-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay here. It's the perfect hideaway spot, so private and peaceful. Feels like your sleeping in the trees :-) with views to die for. We just wished we'd stayed longer.

    Claire2018-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Antje was a great host, always available to help and support. The holiday home just amazing! The place was a bit difficult to reach but the view of the landscape repaid all the effort!

A beautiful and cared for renovated cottage with private garden leading to Derryvegal Lough. A hidden gem on the Beara Peninsula. The peaceful location on the coast road between Ardgroom and Eyeries on the Beara Way is ideal for artists, writers, poets, hikers, walkers and nature enthusiasts with spectacular vistas over the lake and the "Wild Atlantic Waves" of the Kenmare bay beyond with the mountains of Kerry as a background.
Private gardens with lake access, outside seating area overlooking Derryvegal Lake and beyond. If it is peace and tranquility you require, then this magical and enchanting part of the Beara Way is the place for you.
Derryvegal LakeHouse is located about a five to ten minutes drive to Ardgroom Village, there is a pub in the village (The Village Inn) and food is served here in the summer months. There is also a Post Office/Grocery Store/Cafe in the village which is open daily. There is a Stone Circle a short walk east of the village and also there is another stunning lake within walking distance of the village called Glenbeg Lake. The main town on the Peninsula is the fishing port town of Castletownbere which is 20 minutes away by car. Kenmare is roughly 40 minutes away. The Ring of Beara is an untouched and spectacularly scenic drive and makes for a lovely day out. There are supermarkets and restaurants in both of these towns. All information will be available in welcome booklet in our home.
  • If you’re looking for an out of the norm place to stay- this is it! Beautiful scenery. Very quiet. You do need a car for this rental. We loved being in a unique area that was part of the Ring of Beara. Loved it!

  • Well, right from the start, communication with Anna was exceptional. All queries were answered within an hour. Checking in at the location was very easy and we were very impressed with a lovely welcome package of jam, bread and delicious treats, a very nice touch. Location is breathtaking, very secluded and views of the lake are second to none. Local store is about 15 mins drive away. The house is not that modern but is fully of rustic charm. I would have no hesitation in coming back here again to get away from hectic city life and recharge the batteries.

    John2018-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in beautiful location - amazing views from the terrace and lots to see and do on the Beara peninsula. Sinead was really easy to deal with and very helpful during our stay.

    Will2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • This little cottage on a lake by the sea can't get much better. The cottage is off the beaten path, but right on the Ring of Beara. The patio overlooking the lake was a favorite place to enjoy here morning coffee. We were very happy to have access to both a washer and a dryer on premises and a drip coffee maker is a rarity in Ireland and was much appreciated by a couple of Americans. Anna was a great host, she was flexible with our meeting time as we were driving in from Shannon. We met here at the shop in town and she drove us to the cottage and made sure we knew how everything worked. We can't recommend this place more for anyone that wants to get away from the crowds and off the beaten path. As I mentioned, the Ring of Beara is hard to beat. Most everyone comes to Ireland to experience the Ring of Kerry, which is amazing in its own right, but Beara is a jem with many small megalithic sites , forts, and castles, mountains and gardens, but without the tourist flare that is present in Kerry.

    Dustin2018-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house is a little gem tucked away, with a lovely lake view. We had super weather, but if we didn't, there's a fireplace, tons of books and even some board games - it's a very welcoming and comfortable space, and really feels like a home. Anna looked after us very well and went the extra mile by guiding us to the house from the nearby village - the road is a little tricky until you're used to narrow country lanes. And it's well worth it because it's partly why it's so peaceful there. Highly recommended!

    Michael2018-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • The house has everything you would need, is very cosy and set in a tranquil place overlooking Derryvegal Lough with views of the mountains in Kerry. It's a beautiful area and perfect for people who want to be surrounded by nature. Anna is a great host and ensured everything was well set up on arrival. I really enjoyed the weekend and would definitely stay at the house again if I got the chance.

    Paul2017-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just amazing! The cottage and the surrounding is just close to paradise if you like to be in a tranquil and quiet place to renew. Absolutely wonderful and a great homebase to start some hiking, directly at the ring of beara. The house and garden are beautiful and we felt like home from the beginning. We will certainly come agan some day!

    Eva2018-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Had such a relaxing peaceful stay here. The house is really nice and the privacy of the location is amazing. The house is nice and simple and cosy as soon as you have the stove lighting. Anna was very nice to meet and the welcome pack with homemade scones was a lovely touch. Would love to come back and stay here again.
