This room includes a bedside chair, chest of drawers, one full-size bed, a nightstand, a kitchen table and four chairs. Bathroom is located in the Main House. Fayetteville is a town of roughly 2700 in population. For such a small town, though, it affords tourists a number of fun outdoor recreational activities to do.
  • Holly's magical barn loft was all we could have hoped for. We stayed several nights while we explored the beauty of the New River Gorge and the cute little town of Fayetteville WV. The accommodations were just as described and although they are not perhaps for every type of traveler, if you are looking for a quaint, quiet, simple and beautiful retreat there is none better! Holly was a little elf, ensuring all our needs were met sometime in the dark of night, working behind the scenes to ensure we had a great stay. We did meet her on our 2nd or 3rd day and she is as wonderful as her home would indicate. She was very responsive with communication throughout the trip and was the perfect blend of friendly and non-intrusive. Don't miss this opportunity.

  • This was such a gorgeous experience, can highly recommend. Holly is a lovely host who will have a fun chat or give privacy if you need. I reckon it is even better in real life than the photos. The high light must have been one evening when we had turned off the light and there were fire flies all around.

  • Awesome!!! Awesome!!! Awesome!!! It was Awesome!!!

    Hendrieke2015-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I spent a weekend at Holly's barn loft for my birthday and we loved every minute of it! The barn is beautiful and the bedroom has such a charming and whimsical feel to it with all the decor that Holly has set up. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a romantic getaway or are vacationing in the Fayetteville area. It is also close to many great restaurants in their downtown!

  • Staying in Holly's charming barn loft was even better than expected. Holly really went above and beyond as a hostess. The loft itself is even more charming than the pictures. Holly made an amazing breakfast that seemed almost too good to be true, and offered her kitchen in which to dine. We chose to eat in the barn because there's a charming breakfast nook, and Holly delivered it in a charming picnic basket, with yogurt parfaits, an amazing orange juice smoothie concoction, bacon, egg/cheese casserole, coffee, etc. etc. It was such a shame to leave so soon (our activity schedule allowed us to merely spend the night, grab a quick breakfast, and hit the road) and we wished we would have stayed at Holly's both nights we were in town (the first night we stayed at the Holiday Lodge, and Holly far exceeded that experience). If I visit the Gorge again, Holly is definitely going to be the first location I try to book!!

    Susan2011-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Holly was an excellent host and the Barn Loft was amazing. My girlfriend and I were making a last minute stop and she replied to our request and had us set up in a few short hours. We did not get to spend much time in the backyard because of our late arrival, but we spent some time with Holly over a glass of wine in her house. Again, an amazing host and we will be sure to stop here again if we are in the area!

    Jeff2014-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Booked this as a surprise for our 5th wedding anniversary. Holly's a great host, and the place was everything I hoped it would be. My wife loved it.

    Zack2015-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • This barn and town are very special and unique. (Just to note, staying here does involve going up and down a ladder, but totally worth it!). Great vibe, nice restaurants and cafes, and great hikes. Really a charming spot.

  • Sheila had a lovely house! It was a pleasure staying there. She also made incredible zucchini bread and was very hospitable.

    Sarah2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sheila's space was the perfect rest stop for the three of us on our way to Charleston,SC from Ohio. Beautiful, clean, comfortable, and cheaper than any hotel one could book for this level of accommodations. The hospitality and coffee cake Sheila shared were just an added bonus! If you are traveling and need a place to rest for the night look no further!

    Ruthy2017-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Sheila was amazing! She was so kind and helpful. The room was gorgeous! Above and beyond what we needed!

    Isaac2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived -- to the smell of warm, freshly baked zucchini bread -- Sheila made us feel welcome in her spacious and very comfortable home. We really appreciated having access to a well-equipped kitchenette, our own private bathroom, and Netlfix streaming. The bed and room were very comfortable. The shower was great. And we really appreciated her taking the time to talk with us about life in Raleigh/Durham, our potential future home.

    Mark2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Sheila's place was wonderful! Served as a great respite on our road trip to Ohio from NC. Very big space to enjoy, snacks and breakfast goodies/coffee provided, and just a comfortable space in general. Air mattress doesn't deflate like many I have used, just feels like a firmer real bed so that was a nice surprise. Sheila is SO sweet and hospitable, definitely would stay again!

    Anna2017-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very affordable and a lot of space. Beware: one of the mattresses is a blow up, so if you have trouble sleeping on one check with the host.

    Rebecca2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sheila was a great host! Location was easy to find and room was very large and comfortable. Highly recommend staying here!

    Emily 2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sheila and family are perfect hosts. Sheila provided breakfast food, great coffee, popcorn, soaps, shampoo, etc. The suite was perfect with lots of space to stretch out. The room has a large television with satellite and a video consule. While the bed was an air mattress, it certainly felt quite comfortable with soft pillows and blankets. The house is decorated with beautiful paintings that Sheila painted. Amazingly talented. Her son made candy for us which was delicious. I truly appreciated Sheila as a host!

  • Lovely and quaint place. Awesome hospitality from Diane, her children and kitty! Great food and conversations. She makes an amazing banana bread and caramels. We learned a lot about the late 1800s printing press she has....location is actually easy to find...and she has wifi which was very helpful.

    Marc2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I originally planned on staying with Diane for two nights, but since her power went out before we arrived (and we would have arrived after dark), we decided to postpone by one day. We got to Diane's place fairly easily thanks to the good directions she provided-- it's not that remote and is in a wonderful location for taking in sites on the New River. The house itself is easily the most charming I have ever stayed in, and we are grateful to Diane for sharing her space and showing us her work. We had a wonderful evening chatting with her family (including Maggie the cat) waiting for the power to come back on. The next morning, Diane made us lattes and scrumptious buttermilk pancakes. It's rare that visiting with hosts can make you feel so at home and enrich you in the way that we were enriched by staying here. Many thanks!

    Andrea2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful secluded location and a wonderful log cabin. Unique set up with loft space. Wonderful host and delicious breakfast. Highly recommended!

    spoonmoonfly2017-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Diane's was lovely. The land is beautiful, the breakfast was delicious (as was the coffee!) and we greatly enjoyed talking with Diane and her sons in the morning. It was a great spot to explore the area from and she gave us wonderful tips for the best hike and creek swim around.

    Harper 2016-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed my stay at Diane's house. Her family is very friendly and welcoming. The house is very quiet and secluded, which was a plus! It was a little hard to find because the driveway doesn't look like a driveway. You have to drive through the woods a little before you get to a the house. Overall, I was very pleased and would refer her house to anyone wanting to stay in a quiet, secluded place fit for two.

    Courtney2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Diane is an amazing Host. Southern Hospitality is felt all around at this cute woods surrounded cabin. Her and her two sons make you feel welcome right away and treat you as if your part of the family. It can be a little hard to find the cabin the first time in (especially at night). If you cant find The address on your GPS use Beckley instead of Piney Brook as the town name. This cabin is for those who are seeking a bit of seclusion and a quiet place to feel at home. For the adventurous person that doesn't mind a new and different experience. For someone who loves homemade biscuits and amazing conversation with someone new. Its not for someone who is looking for a luxury and all modern amenity place to stay while on a business trip. Diane and I sat on the porch talking for an hour when I first arrived and made me the most delicious breakfast from scratch on the morning. If I ever roll through West Virginia again I know where I'm Staying!! Thanks for being a part of My Trip Diane!

  • My wife and I had a great time getting to know diane. She has a great home tucked away in a beautiful part of West Virginia. She was an excellent host and the loft was a nice retreat. The driveway into her home is bumpy so be careful as you go up the hill.

  • Regret did not get to meet Becky Place was great location and comfortable

    Bryan2016-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Becky's place was very cozy and clean and she is a very warm, friendly and responsive host. The bed was extremely comfortable and the space was nice to get a hot shower and hang out in at the end of the day. It is very conveniently located close to the highway and market which made getting around easy. Being very close to the road there is a bit of traffic noise in the morning. Most days we were up early so it wasn't an issue but I'd request the back bedroom if you are a light sleeper and like to sleep in. We appreciated being given the house to ourselves and felt it was a great value . Thank you Becky!

    Michelle2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Host Becky was very congenial, pleasant and knowledgeable about her trade. Well experienced and delivered as promised. Very quick response to all my needs which were few. I will definitely consider her offerings (she has several BandBs in the general neighborhood of where l stayed) my next time traveling through her area. She even left me some scrumptious pound cake but unfortunately failed to share her recipe with me. Dang!

    kevin2016-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place was really nice. I was traveling through and needed a place to stay for the night and this was a perfect spot. Becky responded to my message right away and we got everything sorted right away.

    Pat2016-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Becky greeted us at the house upon our arrival and gave us a tour. We were surprised to discover we had the entire upper story of the house, which is freshly painted and decorated, and spotlessly clean, all to ourselves. Though we were only there overnight and didn't need it, it was wonderful to know we could use the washer and dryer if necessary. All in all it was the perfect place and location for our needs; thanks, again, Becky!

  • I was traveling to the Beckley area to visit family. It was myself, two adults and our kids. The house provided a nice layout to give us all space and privacy if needed. The location was great being between Beckley and Fayetteville. There was a gas station right up the hill which was very convenient. The house was fairly clean and had all the amenities you would need. There was some issues with the toilet leaking out the back and we had to put a towel down. The refrigerator also seemed to leak water into the kitchen floor a couple of times but was easily wiped up. I tried calling the contact listed but they did not answer or call me back. Nice little house, convenient location, but probably won't stay here again.

  • This property came as advertised and was well worth the stay. The location was perfect for everything we needed it for and it's close proximity to the main highway made travel times extremely easy and convenient. Our house contact Adam was more than accommodating with our check-in/out times and was quick to respond to any questions we had. There was a small issue with the fridge on hand but Adam quickly resolved the problem and replaced the broken fridge with a brand new one in under an hour's time. We are thrilled with our West Virginia vacation experience and would absolutely recommend this property to anyone else who might be interested. Thanks again to Adam and the Evolve Vacation Rental Network team.

  • The house was in close proximity to white water rafting which is why we were in the area and is nice for a pet rental.

  • This was the perfect little place, and had everything you could imagine! It was right off the highway, which made for a quick trip to town as well as the Rafting/Adventure resorts. We had a blast playing Frisbee and such in the large open field, and couldn't have picked a better spot to stay!

  • This was a perfect cozy cabin for our trip. Only about 20 min drive to Ace Adventure resort where we had a blast river rafting. 3 bedrooms each with beds that accommodate 2 people each was perfect for our family of 5. A little balcony at the front of the house was perfect for sitting and talking in a semi-private setting. Enjoyed the long table for breakfast and evening meals. Plenty of ceiling fans to keep the cabin cool. Perfect semi-seclusion for a vacation. Beautiful mountainous area. Highly recommended!

  • This cabin was truly cozy! The location was remote enough to enjoy the nature and the beautiful lake in walking distance of the house, but close enough to town to get to the nearest Kroger in 25 minutes. Donna gave the best directions and had everything we needed for our stay in her home! We enjoyed our stay and loved our vacation in W. Virginia!

    Allison2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Donna was a great communicator before we arrived. The cabin was exactly as described. We enjoyed a cozy weekend catching up with friends. Plum Orchard Lake is an easy walk from the cabin and we fished and kayaked. It was a beautiful area. We needed more time to explore and would book again!

    Ashley2015-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was in very good shape in a quiet area. Convenient for both rafting and rock climbing. Donna was helpful and responsive to any questions I had regarding the cabin.

    Joshua2015-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Donna did a great job giving directions and contacting me before the trip. The house was what we expected and was nice and clean. We felt safe and enjoyed our stay. The bedrooms are small, there wouldn't be any room for a pack n play or anything like that, but this wasn't an issue for us. We really enjoyed the sunroom. The description and pictures of the house are accurate, and the price is fair.

    Erika2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here during a trip to the New River. Very cute place, although a bit cluttered. The back porch was perfect for relaxing after a long day on the river. The place is rustic, but stocked with anything we needed. The beds were somewhat uncomfortable, so beware if you have back problems, but we didn't have any major issues. The grill was quite dirty when we got there but we were able to clean it pretty easily. The AC works well, and there were also plenty of fans if you need them. It took us about 25 minutes to get to our rafting company. Worth the drive. Thanks Donna!!

    Marie2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Communication? check Cleanliness? check Comfort? check Location? check Value? check The Cozy Cabin checked off all my boxes and is an absolutely amazing place to spend any amount of time in if you're going to be in the New River Gorge area. Donna was great with communication and made sure that we had everything that we needed. She even went out of her way to take the crockpot out of storage and test it out when I asked her if the kitchen had one. The screened in back porch was an awesome place to hang out and play cards and that was where we spent almost all of our time when we weren't sleeping. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of spices and made our meals so much better than they would've been because we didn't pack any spices at all! Her directions to the cabin were perfect and check in and out were simple. I would recommend this place to anyone and since I do want to return for another white water rafting excursion I will definitely try to stay here again!

  • A very good place to stay especially in winters. The room was really good for 6 people. The view from the room was great and the way Judy communicated prior to the arrival is awesome. 5+ experience.

  • Laura and John have a really cute house in a nice, small neighborhood that is centrally located to the new river gorge and all the fun things you can do there like rafting, hiking, and climbing.

    Brian2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Laura and John's house! We had an extended stay in the summer of 2015 and couldn't have been more comfortable. The location is great - very conveniently located to the rafting companies, and all that the new river gorge area offers (hiking, biking, climbing etc). The house itself is very nice and newly renovated. We particularly enjoyed the updated and extremely functional kitchen and bathroom, and the large master. The wifi was very fast and worked perfectly. Laura and John were great hosts - I knew we could call/text if we had any problems - but we didn't! We used the washer and dryer frequently, very convenient. Very friendly neighbors. Overall, we couldn't be happier with our stay here.

    Katie and Bob2015-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Laura's place is really cosy and comfortable. It was a lovely home to come back to after a long day at the Gauley river. It was clean and had everything we needed. Will definitely recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.

    Su Fen2014-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication! My travel schedule changed last minute, John and Laura went out of their way to be flexible with my changing schedule.

  • Lovely home for a relaxing weekend in WV! The house had everything we needed and was adorable. Also a bonus that our dog could come along! Would stay again if in the area.

  • Communications with the owners was quick as booking was a last minute decision to visit New River Gorge. I was traveling with 3 senior family members and it was important to have no stairs. The house was cute and comfy. The kitchen was stocked with all necessary. The beds were clean and comfortable.

    Silvia2016-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable and good location. Not far from anything.

    Adam2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Laura and John's place in Oak Hill was perfect for our ski weekend get away. The house was a cozy place to call home after a cold and long day on the slopes. The house is cute and an adorable place, we enjoyed hanging out, & cooking dinner & breakfasts! We weren't able to meet Laura or John in person, but Laura was extremely responsive via the messaging through Airbnb, and checked in on us to make sure that we had gotten to the house okay and were well taken care of. It's a great home for a weekend getaway, and we hope to be back soon!

Fully furnished house on the banks of the New River. House is located within easy driving distance to WinterPlace Ski Resort, Tamarack, and located within New River Gorge National Park! Trout stream within walking distance and 90,000 acres of public land all around for exploring. Public boat access is right out the back door. Fishing is permitted for miles either way up or down river. Large back deck overlooks the river with grill and firepit.
The house is cozy and clean and has recently been updated with new flooring and new bathroom. The beds are extremely comfortable and sheets and linens replaced after every guest. The house is currently used for guests using our outfitting service on the New River and now will be offered to all. The house comes with all linens and towels. This is not a honeymoon suite type of place but more of a functional house for those wanting a vacation in the New River Gorge.
The house is located in small community of Meadow Creek. There are other houses nearby but the house is also somewhat private. There is a public boater access alongside the house so boaters will be coming and going. I have not locked the house in 3 years and have had no issues with theft or vandalism. I know everyone in the town and everyone looks out for their neighbor. There are railroad tracks that run by house and river and trains can be frequent or not at all.
  • Sammy is very quick with communication and very flexible. The house is perfect for a stay in the mountains. Loved staying here and would highly recommend it!

    Kolten2017-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Unit is as advertised. Perfect if you want to be on the river or are a fisherman. Can't beat the views. Convenient from the highway. Railroad goes right by the house so it won't be without noise, but it doesn't take away from the stay. If anything it reminds you that you are in former coal country.

    chris2016-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Every thing was clean and comfortable as promised. There is a lot of sleeping space. A rustic place with a beautiful view of the river. River access is excellent. A great place to go fishing, kayaking, canoeing and hiking. Sammy is very helpful and friendly.

    Elizabeth 2015-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I stayed a weekend at Sammy's cabin and we really loved the place, it has charm and we were satisfied with our stay and being able to make our trip affordable by utilizing the kitchen and grill. Certain parts of the house does not have cell phone reception but it forced our group to focus more on friendship and bond and socialize!!! This place is great for a getaway to get away from city. It's a nice and quiet spot with great opportunities for good fishing and rafting. I recommend this place because it beats staying in a hotel room

    Jess2016-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • it is vey peaceful there as we sat out on the deck. Yes, there are may trains that travel through but by the second night, I slept through the noise of them.

  • The cabin was excellent! Great location with the New River in the backyard. Very comfortable home with room to accommodate all your friends and family. If I find myself back in WV anytime, I'd look to stay here again.

    Thomas2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this river hideaway. Spent hours on the deck gazing at the river, swam with our little ones, Sammy was very friendly and accommodating, he even dropped off some fishing poles when we expressed an interest, and I got to introduce my 6 year old to swimming. We thoroughly enjoyed slowing down and tuning into the natural surroundings here.

My place is close to family-friendly activities and restaurants and dining. My place is good for big groups. It is an old coal mining town with a rafting company 1 mile away.
  • As a Florida girl that's never been to a WV, let alone a mining town, staying at Mamaw's in Minden was it's own little adventure. This old family home has a lot of history and the pictures posted by Debra are accurate. The house tells you not only a story of the family but of the town. I can honestly say the character of the house made the weekend that much more of enjoyable, because the mountains of WV are beautiful. This house was a family home for a long time, it was lived in well, and like every old house it has it's quirks. There is only one shower and it's upstairs in the room with the for single beds. So water pressure is contingent on no one else running any water while you're showering. I would have given the house 5 stars if only there was a second shower, especially for a large group of adults; and maybe if it had Wi-Fi. *I'm in grad school and I assumed there was Wi-Fi and missed out on some online homework during the weekend, which was my own fault for not checking.* But at the end of the weekend I can honestly say not having Wi-Fi helped us as a group enjoy each other's time better. Debra was a great host and brought us over extra towels. Otherwise guests should remember that Mamaw's is not a hotel with maid services, and to leave the house as clean as you would had this been your grandma's house. That will prevent anyone in the future from finding dirty dishes like a previous review stated. Lastly because the water from the faucet is not potable, bring some if you plan to cook. I hope you enjoy Mamaw's as much as we did!

    Amanda2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very conveniently located for Fayetteville rafting and our group of 14 enjoyed staying there. However, please keep in mind that it is a very old house: the decor is dated, there is no wi-fi, and phone reception is not great, the rooms have no fans, there are only two bathrooms (one without a shower). Communication with Debra was absolutely seamless - she is a fantastic host. Pluses: great porch, spacious, clean, enough towels and blankets for extra guests, a bag of chocolates awaiting, sense of living in a historical house. Minuses: furniture is old so you will feel like you are visiting your grandma's house. beds are rather narrow, kitchen not very well stocked. Overall, we enjoyed it but if you would rather stay in a modern hotel, this house is not for you.

    Dorota2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect getaway in the middle of the green of WV. Clean, very well maintained house with all the required amenities. The place is aloof and nobody is there to bother you around. Pretty near from the New River Gorge Bridge and Thurmond rail road. We were 4 families and every single person praised this place. Host Debra is very gentle, understanding and communicative. Overall it carried a lovely memory of our memorial day weekend tour. Small thing, quality of water in this area doesn't seem to be great so carry your own drinking water. Otherwise all thumbs up!!

    Nayananjan2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is very-very old house. It is spacious and has 2 floors and nice front porch. It has amazing history, but it also has moldy old smell and does not have modern amenities and appliances. For 4 bedrooms that could easily accommodate 12 people it has 2 bathrooms and only one has a shower. The other has a bathtub that is all rusty and dirty. The house does not have dishwasher; when we arrived, most dishes were dirty and covered with fatty film. The house does not have central air; it has 2 AC window units, one on each floor that are very noisy. It is impossible to shut tight any door in the house except entrance and bathroom doors. It does not include Wifi. But we had plenty of clean towels and other supplies (napkins, paper towels, bathroom tissue...). The washer and dryer were working well.

    Eugenia2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • This house is very close (<1 mi) to the river rafting company ACE. The house itself is very old but it has plenty of places to sleep with an abundance of blankets and pillows. There’s a fire place in the back, but no tv or wifi. Definitely a good house for family trips. Make sure to bring bug spray

  • Lovely property

    Patrice2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect cabin getaway with all the luxury and comfort of a five star hotel. Let's start with the location its completely isolated and prefect for a romantic getaway. However, it's close enough to rafting, hiking, new river gorge bridge, etc. The cabin living space is mostly on the second floor with a living room, compete with tv, satellite Wi-Fi, DVD, large deck, grill, and pull out sectional sofa. The bathroom is large and beautiful with rain shower (w/ great pressure) and large whirlpool tub. The kitchen is gourmet and full of everything you need to enjoy cooking during your stay. The matter bedroom is also located on the second floor and although it's an open floor plan, it's nicely partitioned off for privacy. Downstairs is a washer dryer and another bed couch and. wood stove. We had an absolutely perfect stay and hope to return again and again!

  • The place is awesome, secluded, great trials in the property, beautiful views, wonderful horses, yard, overall perfect for a weekend family get away. We will have great memories of this place and thanks Joseph for being such a great host (timeliness in communication, tips on attractions et all)... The area is interesting too with New River National park and other fun spots nearby...

My husband & I enjoyed EVERYTHING from the fabulous cabin, to the wildlife, to the 100 acres and it's history... from all the trails, to the beautiful creek... and those gorgeous horses :O) OH, and even that super COOL chess board!! I wish we were still there!! Joseph could not have made this experience any smoother or easier!!! THANK YOU SOOO VERY MUCH!!!

Remote riverfront home inside the boundaries of the New River Gorge National River. Located only 2 miles from the Sandstone Falls boardwalk. The rustic house is family friendly- 5 bedrooms with 2 bunks and a full kitchen. Our private river lot has a fire pit, picnic table, charcoal grill, and great fishing. There are several nearby trails and world class rafting is just an hour away. NOTE: DOH roadwork is causing delay on River Rd from M-S. The price is discounted until it is completed.
On the New River near charming Hinton! The house is spacious and very private with a huge front porch offering exceptional river views. There is a large master suite upstairs and four smaller bedrooms downstairs, making it ideal for large/multiple families or groups. The layout is also convenient for couples who do not need the extra space. The master suite has a king bed and a futon in the on-suite that folds out to a comfortable twin size bed. Three of the downstairs bedrooms are located together in a hallway off the foyer- the blue room with twin over twin bunks, the purple room with a twin over full bunk, and the pink room with twin and doll furniture in the closet (bunk bed, crib, and high chair). The downstairs orange bedroom is separate from the other three and has a queen bed and crib with shelves. All beds have bedding including sheets comforters, pillows, and extra blankets. There are also two Therm-A-There are enough sheets and blankets to use these for extra guests if needed, but no pillows. The kitchen has all the necessities- a stove, fridge, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, basic cookware and dishes. We keep the basics stocked- coffee, tea, sugar, olive oil, salt/pepper, and condiments in the fridge. There is also a laundry room with washer and dryer. In addition to the sleeping spaces inside the home, there is ample space for camping by the river or in the yard right beside the house. Our kids have even set up their tents on the front porch for camping. There is a basketball goal in the yard and plenty of flat space to play, there are horseshoes on the porch for your use. The river front lot is very large and private. There is an established fire pit, charcoal grill, and picnic table. Bring your camp chair or hammock! There is no boat ramp into the river but the bank fishing is great and there are multiple public accesses within a couple of miles. There is one large flat screen TV in the living room with Direct TV. Cellular service is poor except in front of the signal booster in the living room. There is no WiFi available in this area. Climate control is not a problem- there is a newly installed gas heat and A/C system. There are also backup gas heaters in case the power goes out in the winter. The house has undergone major renovations that are nearly complete. Some unfinished projects remain- the downstairs bathroom awaits remodeling, dining room chairs need reupholstered, trim is incomplete, etc. We are keeping the price low as we complete the upgrades. This is a great property for anyone looking to escape to the river. Send me a message if you have any questions. We look forward to hosting you!
The property is located within the boundaries of the New River Gorge National Park making it the perfect place to get away from it all. The house is only two miles from the boardwalk at Sandstone Falls in one direction and Brooks Falls in the other. There are NPS maintained trails at both locations. There are also other trails nearby including the Gwinn Ridge Trail and the Greenbrier River Trail. Camp Brookside Environmental Education Center and the Three Rivers Avian Center are only a short drive away. The New River is beautiful and the Hinton area offers great recreation opportunities. There are three outfitters within ten minutes of the house offering float trips, inflatable kayak, stand-up paddleboard and tube rentals. If you are looking for recommendations let us know what you are interested in and we will try to point you in the right direction. Always wear a lifejacket in or near the river! While much of our property's charm comes from it's serenity and remoteness, a variety of restaurants, shops, and recreational opportunities are just a short drive away: Hinton, 15-30 min Chestnut Revival, The Market, Kirk's, Chessie's, and the Famous Hinton Dairy Queen Beckley, 40 min Tamarack, Raleigh County Convention Center, The Char, Pasquale's, Zen Cafe, Raleigh Playhouse Ghent, 50 min Winterplace Ski Resort Lewisburg, 50 m Carnegie Hall, Food and Friends White Sulfur Springs The Greenbrier Resort Fayetteville, 1h10m World Class Whitewater and Rock Climbing, zip-lining, mountain bike rentals, Ace Adventure Resort, Gumbos, The Station, Secret Sandwich Society, Princeton, 45 m The Chuck Mathema Center and so much more!
  • Stayed with three families and small kids. Sleeping options for groups and kids worked well, the river is across a road but there isn't much traffic and overall having the river access, wide porch and big yard is awesome for families. So is the horse-swing made from a tire. The surrounding State Parks are a must and hike at Sandstone Falls just a few miles up the road is easy for kids and really beautiful.

    Erin2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • The house was nice and spacious with a great big porch and view of the river and mountains. We booked it for a group ski trip and it was about a 45 min drive to Winterplace.

    Peyton2017-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very spacious, great for a large group of people. It was on a quiet road, across the street from the New River. Our group had a great time hanging out by the bonfire in the evenings, and playing yard games in the huge front yard. It was chilly when we arrived, but the house heats up quickly and stays warm.

    Shelby2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer was wonderful - excellent communication and a very nice home. We thoroughly enjoyed being there and plan to return soon!

  • We had a great time. We hung out at the HUGE porch, grilled outside and explored around. The house is very spacious. The kitchen was sufficiently equipped. We also liked the fact that number of people and check out time was flexible. It was just a tad difficult without wifi, since our networks were collectively out of reach. Other than that, a very positive experience

    ANWESHA2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay. Jennifer responded to our questions immediately. The house was very clean and fit my family perfectly. We will definitely stay here again sometime.

  • My family and I enjoyed this rustic home on the river. My grandson loved watching the trains go by on the distant riverbank. If you are looking for a place to relax, this is it. Though access to the river itself is limited by vegetation, watching the waters roll by from the amazing porch was perfect.

She has inspired me to want to homestead. I would definitely stay again in the future! The room was quiet and secluded. I felt very welcome. Thanks again, Susan!

  • Susan has a charming home in the country of West Virgina. We were greeted by a rooster, ponies, and cows upon arrival. I wanted a private bathroom since I was not feeling well that day, so I ended up staying at a hotel. Susan was more than understanding and we ended up talking for quite some time before I left. Based on what I saw, I would highly recommend this stay to anyone passing through.

  • Susan was an amazing host! I had been away from home for 6 weeks and she warmly welcomed me and invited me to her table for a home cooked meal. Her generosity and kindness was priceless. Her property is gorgeous and her home has a unique story! The outbuilding with the private room was very well kept and exceeded my needs for a night's stay. It was peaceful sleeping with the windows open and hearing the horses outside. You do have to go down the stairs from the room and into the main house to use the bathroom, but I did not mind that at all. Just make sure you have a flashlight handy. The kittens and pup will also help escort you to the door :) I cannot say enough great things about the hosts! It was like visiting old friends, not meeting strangers. The value for the room was outstanding. I highly recommend stopping in!

This home is open concept. Eight foot bay windows with panoramic view overlook the New River Gorge National River 300 feet below. En suite baths adjoin both master bedrooms, one with steam and massage shower. The main floor kitchen and living areas feature vaulted ceilings and walk out, wrap around deck. Mountains rise behind the greenhouse in the back, fruit trees, vines and berries beautify the front lawn which is enclosed by hardwood forests with trails, wild life and overlooks.
  • Beautiful home, beautiful secluded surroundings, beautiful view of the New River (we were able to watch 4th of July fireworks at Hinton, WV from the deck). Lovely home with very comfortable beds, large kitchen, dining space inside and on the deck. Plenty of room for children to run around outside. There were wild wineberries we were encouraged to pick. Host offered suggestions for places to visit, one being Grandview Park which we greatly enjoyed. We would love to go back again.

  • This home was great for what we needed for college reunion weekend. Four girls stayed very comfortably in this home. It had beautiful views and the porch was perfect!! We had lunch in a little restaurant in Hinton, The Market... fantastic!! and visited Beckley and the New Gorge.

  • Mark's place is beautiful. Very spacious and definitely very good value. It overlooks the river from the top of the hill. It's just beautiful! Met Mark the next morning just before we were leaving, it was just such a pleasant time to stay there.

    Eric2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place for rest and quiet with beautiful views of the New River. The wrap around porch is a plus. The road to the house is a bit rough, but certainly doable. Mark is very helpful, and his directions are clear and precise.

  • Comfortable,Secluded, peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed our short stay. Mark was very friendly. I recommend arriving before dark or you will have a hard time finding the home.

  • Mark's home is lovely. There is plenty of room and the view is beautiful. Mark gives great directions to the home. You will be in touch with nature. Mark was a wonderful host. He answered all our questions then quietly dissapeared into his area. (The walk-out basement.) My family enjoyed staying there. My youngest daughter loved her private area in the small loft.

Especially for adventurous visitors who want to experience West Virginia Country Roads, our second house on our family homeplace is a nature retreat with comfortable accommodations just one mile off the I-64 exit. Enjoy privacy of an entire house, plus spectacular views of the mountains & local wildlife. A one-of-kind house with full kitchen, LR, 2 BRs, spacious bathroom, folk art, decks and porches. No guest pets please. Unknown pets can make our pets nervous or put them at risk.
The "lodge" is comfortable and unique. It is situated on a 63 acre farm with ponds, views, and hiking trails. The lodge has two bedrooms, and a LR with a fold-out couch. Beds are one queen, and one full with a pillow top mattress. Egyptian cotton sheets. Bath and kitchen essentials provided (soap, linens, coffee, spring water, etc.).
A National Park Service Visitors Center is located 1 1/2 miles from your door, as is the public river access for a splendid whitewater/float experience (Sandstone to Meadow Creek). Essential supplies are available at the country store in "downtown" Sandstone one mile away from the Lodge (Sandstone consists of a post office, store-gas station, and firehouse). Exit 125, Beaver (about 20 minutes drive) is the closest shopping/ restaurants area. Pipestem State Park, Bluestone State Park, Historic Hinton, Grandview, Lewisburg offer recreation/dining facilities most within a 30 minute drive.
  • Simply outstanding! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The place is a detached suite and was clean and ready to go. The fire pit was awesome as was the proximity to Sandstone visitor center. One snag- you'll want to take a high clearance vehicle to get up the driveway and 4 wheel drive ideally. We almost got stuck on the gravel going uphill, but it's worth it once you get to the lodge. Thank you John and Abby for the great hospitality!

    Dave2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first experience with Airbnb and I imagine it will be a hard one to beat. Abby and John were so welcoming they felt like family, the house was perfect in every way, and the land was absolutely beautiful. If you're looking for a place to get away for a few days or if your just traveling through the area you can't go wrong with the Passing Through Sandstone Lodge.

    Michael2016-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very welcome at Passing Thru Sandstone. The house was stocked very well with nothing overlooked. The views from the property and house were spectacular and the house itself was beautiful. Definitely a great experience!

  • We only stayed in de lodge for two nights, but it was a wonderful experience. We loved the house and the surroundings. The lands around the house are so absolutely beautiful, you could stay there all day and do nothing else but soak in the views. Abby and Jon were the perfect hosts, friendly, welcoming, interested and helpful. We couldn't have asked for more and chose the perfect place for "passing through sandstone". I would absolutely recommend staying here!

    Marjolein2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great experience in West Virginia, and especially at Jon and Abby's home. The cottage was clean and very welcoming. We arrived in the middle of the night and Abby kept in touch with us to make sure we were doing well. Abby and Jon were so helpful in making suggestions in the area and also offered us privacy. I would highly recommend staying here - the views of the mountains are amazing, and so are the stars at night. Loved it!

    Teresa2016-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Beautiful view. The house is adorable with all you need and more! Very comfortable. Campfire and sommores an added plus!! My husband said the New Mexico decor was very inviting. Melony

    Jill2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and two other coworkers stayed at the Lodge for two nights over the weekend and loved every minute of it! Jon and Abby were the perfect hosts and extremely accommodating in every way. The Lodge was fully equipped, so all we needed to bring was our own food and beverages. They really thought of everything that you could need or want for a comfortable stay. The house was extremely clean upon arrival, so we could settle in quickly. The property alone is absolutely gorgeous nestled up in its own private mountainside. They have many of their own trails on their land that offer beautiful views every where you look. Pictures don't do this place justice. Their land is definitely worth exploring all on its own! The Lodge's location right off of 64 and Route 20 is also very convenient for further exploration. We visited the Sandstone Park Service Center first, which is just a mile from the Lodge. The people there helped us map out activities for our two days, so I would definitely stop there for new travelers. We were able to drive down to Pipestem about 40 minutes away and went horseback riding and took a ride on the tram. We would definitely recommend a tram ride, which overs amazing views and some hiking trails! We also canoed for cheap on Bluestone Lake and visited Sandstone Falls, which we think are both worth checking out. Overall, we could not have asked for a better weekend at the Lodge! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, whether you are looking for a relaxing getaway or feel like exploring the surrounding areas. This is definitely not a place you want to "Pass Thru," but rather a place to stay and truly appreciate all that Sandstone has to offer.

Close to all recreation and sight seeing of Fayetteville, the New River National River and Gauley River National Recreation Area, and skiing at Winterplace. Private, wooded four acres in a residential neighborhood, three miles from downtown Fayetteville.
  • We loved this cozy, beautiful cottage. I brought my two adult children and we fit very well. The kitchen/bathroom had all of the things we could have forgotten to bring with us. We really appreciated all of the pots, pans, coffee, etc everything that was supplied for convenience in the kitchen. We made a lovely campfire every night in the yard.

With care, I have created a cozy, welcoming space in the little Historical River Town of Hinton WV to call home while exploring all natural wonders and historic sites the Hinton area has to offer. Just around the corner you will find, antique stores, theater, restaurants, hiking, close river access for boats, kayaking or fishing, train depot, mountain views or just relax on the porch.
Hinton is in the midst of a revival with new restaurants and shops popping up. Once a year fun activities include Railroad Days, WV State Water Festival, WV State Fair, Christmas Bazaar & Parade, Festival of the Rivers and Second Saturday's. Hinton is close to some of the most gorgeous views in West Virginia so bring those hiking boot's and check us out. The Butterfly Cottage is right downtown and is within walking distance to popular spots: The Market on Courthouse Square, Chestnut Revival and Chessie's all serve wonderful food.
  • Easy to find with the house number in big numbers on the fence. It was a cute and clean home. Great hot water!

  • Rhonda's place was bright and clean. We met Rhonda when we first arrived, and she kindly left us with some home-grown popcorn from her local farm. This is a new airbnb that is just getting started, so I think Rhonda is still finishing up the details on her home, but I recommend it for a basic, comfortable stay in Hinton.

    Brenna2017-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We made our reservation at the last minute and Rhonda was awesome. Within 20 minutes everything was worked out. Our cottage was awesome. Immaculate and decorated so cute. We walked to lunch and dinner at The Market which was awesome. We went to Pipestem and golfed, went to Sandstone Falls, walked around historical Hinton. A great short weekend trip. We will definitely stay with Rhonda again.

The Stone House is 140 years old and has been completely renovated from top to bottom. It is the showplace of Equestrian Adventures and yes, we have horses right here on the property. It’s at most 8.3 miles from the farthest outdoor center. Access to the famous New River so fishing and kayaking is right down the street. All of of the biking trails can be accessed from here and golfing is just 3 minutes away.
  • Great place to stay. Great porch to hang out on. Great yard for lawn activities. Great place to stay for outdoor activities (whitewater rafting, golf, horseback riding, etc.)

  • The house is very nice and just as pictured. It worked well for our group of 3 couples plus one toddler. It was fun to look out the window and see horses, if we come for a longer visit we will have to go for a trail ride! Everything was nice & clean but if you're planning on cooking make sure to bring all your supplies (spices, oil, can opener) the kitchen has dishes but not much else. Overall we had a great time!

  • The place is great, close to a bunch of activities and the New River Gorge Bridge We had a great July 4th 2017 weekend staying here and exploring the adjacent places. Gerry is a great host! The dishwasher wasn't working on the night we reached. I called him and he came in and fixed it while were gone sight seeing.. He even took all the dishes and placed it in the dishwasher so that by the time we were back, all dishes were washed! What a noble gesture from the host! Thanks!

  • We stayed in The Stone House for four nights with 6 adults and a baby while we were in the area to climb. The house was convenient for our group and Gerry help provide everything we needed. The house is old, but well heated and in decent condition. We will probably come back later when we return for more climbing. We liked it here!

  • Terry was a great host. He is very quick to respond when I had questions. He was also very helpful in suggesting places to hike and eat. The place had everything we needed. It is a super small historic town, not a lot to do, so if you are looking for a super laid back and relaxing weekend, you're golden.

    Stacy 2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Incomparably gracious. Mark and Terry would go out of their way for anything you needed. They were unbelievably accommodating and more than happy to help you out. I stayed for 2 1/2 months because I had an internship in the local area. I was an exception to the rule, I needed a bigger refrigerator, they brought one up from the lower floor and set it up. This is an example of how outgoing they are. I was very happy with my stay.

A private island or a sandy beach? The cabin on Coney Island, a Guest House property, offers you both!!
The Cabin on Coney Island is one of the properties of The Guest House Inn on Courthouse Square. The cabin offers all amenities on the seclusion of an island. When you really want to get away from it all, visit the cabin on Coney Island. The island is located at the confluence of the New and Greenbrier Rivers and accessible by watercraft only.
A one time bustling railroad community is now a charming downtown with brick lined streets, eclectic shops, and old architecture all nestled along the banks of the New and Greenbrier rivers. The confluence of the Bluestone, New, and Greenbrier rivers form the southern West Virginia gateway of the mighty New River in Summers County. Outdoor recreational adventure abounds in and around Hinton. Summers County is one of only a few counties in West Virginia that offers kayakers, floaters, and fisherman 16 public access sites along the banks of the Greenbrier and the New. With the combination of natural beauty and historic charm, Hinton is the hidden jewel of Summers County.
  • Our host, Joanne, was extremely helpful and thoughtful in preparing us for our stay. We shared the island with all the local geese, turtles, and fish. It was a truly unique experience. The bonfire pit was a big hit despite the rainy weekend. We enjoyed exploring the island, and as well, as the neighboring towns. We stayed our first night at the Guest House and it was absolutely beautiful. The extra touches at both the Cabin and Guest House like luxurious robes, towels, soaps were those extra touches that made the trip special. The frig was stocked with water, milk and juice . They had a quiche prepared to our liking for when we arrived. Would highly recommend.

    Monica2015-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kim and the cabin were great. She had a quiche ready for us upon arrival. She also had drinks, fruit & cereal ready for us at the cabin. The cabin was awesome and had everything set up for us. Our only issue was the heat, with the weather in the 90s all trip and not knowing there was no air conditioning - we needed more fans. We would have brought fans of our own to help stay cool inside the cabin.
