Esha ma'am is a wonderful host. Hospitality is very nice with above expectation. The place is spacious with all amenities in place where you won't get a single chance to report anything. Esha ma'am made sure my stay was pleasant and happy. She was kind enough to allow me check-in early morning at 4am with a smile on her face. Also the place is extremely nearby to Metro station and have few good restaurants surrounding. This place is an absolute gem, highly RECOMMENDED. I can say it's home in Kolkata away from home 😊

I think I was quite lucky to have found this lovely, cosy nest to stay in Kolkata recently. The location is just perfect. The metro is barely a 5min walk, the autos lined up near the doorstep, the shared auto stands right there too, and even found uber available in less than a minute! Enough eating joints, of all kinds, around. Swiggy/zomato arrives in a jiffy. Being a picky vegetarian, I loved a 10 min walk in the cool February mornings, to the Lake Market area for some fresh fluffy idlis and filter coffee for breakfast. Jadubabu's Bazaar, where you get anything and everything, is also a 12 min walk away. The room is spacious, (big enough for my yoga practices) with ample natural light, and a personal fridge, AC's, a micro, a hot kettle, and water filter. There's hot water in the bathroom too. The bed is large with a firm but very comfortable mattress. And getting my clothes laundered is a super advantage! But the best part was Esha herself...the hostess with the mostest. A lively and exuberant person, with a warm heart, and generous nature. You can't miss a kind of humane ingenuity ingrained in her persona, that instantly makes the guest feel at home....I thought I had known her all my life! Oh, I must mention another wonderful lady, Esha's mom-in-law, who made my days perfect every morning with her lovely bright smile, and the evenings vibrant with the sweet jingles of her students' ghungroos. If not for anything else, perhaps I'll come back again, with more time in hand, to spend with Esha, her wonderful family, and her fabulous collection of books.

Excellent room with all amenities, sparkling clean room,the room is itself a mini library with so many awesome novels.Located in the centre of Kolkata this place is nearest to almost many iconic places of the city.Moreover this place is easy to accessible as it's just 5 min walk from the nearest metro.Esha mam was really nice and generous.Her excellent hospitality and trip advice was top notch.Thank you mam🤗🙏

I know that describing Esha's place as wonderful/Brilliant/Nice will all be understatement.....its just inexplicable, one can only feel it while they will stay at this place. I checked in at extreme late night (at around 2:00 AM) due to delay in my flight arrival at Kolkata and checked-out early the next morning, but Esha never had shown her annoyance at any point of time. Rather she ensured that I can take proper rest after my long travel. Her love and warmth made me feel like home at every point of time, the entire place was so beautifully and thoughtfully decorated (special mention needed for the crayons/pastel works on the wall), that I was feeling to stay there postponing my next travel schedules afterwards. It is a hidden treasure for them who want to enjoy Kolkata in the truest Bong way. I strongly recommend this place for anyone (be it a frequent visitor to Kolkata or a first-timer to Kolkata) as the place is very safe & secure (Esha herself stays on the same property), it's clean, thoughtfully decorated with great taste for art & culture, complete feeling of a homely comfort far from home. A must stay place for every visitor to Kolkata, atleast once in their lifetime.

If you aren’t a tourist but a traveller, if you love urban buzz, easygoing atmosphere, nightly chats with neighbours from your own balcony, squirrels on the roof and cats’ concerts held in gratitude for the food thrown by a friendly guy next door, if you love your independence, living like the locals, appreciate the extremely hospitable,helpful, and warmhearted English speaking landlady, in one word if you want to experience Kolkata as it is - smiling, welcoming, and honest - then you will never want to leave Esha’s apartment. After 4 months travelling around, meeting nice people and staying in lovely places all over Asia, I fell in love with Kolkata, its people, Eshra and MY apartment 😉. On the practical side: you have everything you might need in the apartment, you live a stone’s throw from the metro (tickets are almost for free) but honestly you don’t need it at all if you are a walker like I am b/c Eshra lives in the centre. I would never want to stay anywhere else, neither hotel nor hostel- Eshra and her place were PERFECT for me! Enjoy!

I really recommend to stay at Esha’s house. She and her family are warmly welcoming and Esha has an open spirit. We had very nice and interesting talks. It totally felt like home. The room is beautiful. It’s private with own bathroom. It also includes fridge, microwave and water boiler to make simple food. The room also has a small balcony towards the street where you can sit. The room is beautifully furnished and full of interesting books.

Esha is a perfect host. i felt very comfortable while staying in her place. the location was fantastic. will come back to kolkata and my preference would be esha's place anytime.

Swapnasree provided my partner and I a very enjoyable and comfortable stay for our last 3 nights in Kolkata. Swapnasree is an outstanding host; present yet not overbearing, friendly, kind, and helpful with local tips. Unfortunately Mr. Basu was not there during our stay, though I am sure we would've enjoyed conversing with him had we had the chance. We found the room very pleasant. It is located down a short hall from the main living quarters of the house, so we found that we had privacy, yet proximity to Swapnasree in case we needed anything. The apartment itself is located in a very convenient area, close to the metro as well as many restaurants. The neighborhood has the bustle of the city during the day, but quiets down to a peaceful hum at night. I would recommend Swapnasree's airbnb to any solo or duo/couple travelers coming through Kolkata.

I can’t thank Mr. & Mrs. Basu enough for making my week long trip extremely easy and comfortable. I felt very safe staying with them as a single woman. They are gracious hosts — caring and warm. The house has all the amenities one needs. They offer warm home made breakfast every morning and are always willing to help with suggestions and advice. The bed (mattress) is super comfortable, I slept very well. The area is quite central — yet not noisy or crowded. It’s on a quaint street in an old neighbourhood, great way to experience the charm of Calcutta.

This a very comfortable relaxing place to stay. The hosts are very helpful and flexible making this the ideal place to stay, especially for those planning to stay in Kolkata for longer periods. 20-30 mins walk from centre and neighbourhood feels very safe. A few eating places nearby, the best of which Saatvik is just around the corner - excellent vegetarian menu and great value. Home from home!

Soma's place is a cute little one bedroom apartment located in the heart of Calcutta. It's a perfect place to stay if you are exploring the City. It's within walking distance of the Kali temple, lots of delicious food places, and a short cab ride away from any major tourist point in Calcutta. I loved the balcony. If you are an early riser like me it's a great place to meditate or just lounge with your morning cup of tea. Soma is a wonderful person, a warm, helpful and hospitable host. Enjoyed a great conversation with her.

I had a hassle free check in and check out experience. Soma is a very great and understanding host. The basic amenities were provided for. The house is in a very quiet place. The place was very nicely kept.

Great stay, two kilometers from the center, very quiet away from the noisy city center. The landlady was nice. The toilets are very, very clean, and they are not the same as regular bedrooms in the bedrooms, with hot water. Recommended!

I highly recommend the Reeta family, she is really a very friendly and kind old lady, and spent a very pleasant four days at her house in Kolkata. The location of her home is very good, it is said that it is a rich area, opposite to the University of Kolkata. It is not so noisy to sleep at night. The facilities in the room are complete and clean. Reeta also prepared two large bottles of water and some teas. I also take special care of them and pay great attention to the privacy of the tenants. I would choose here if I had the chance to come to Kolkata again!

JoJo's place is located in a nice peaceful and safe neighbourhood. We had no trouble coming from the central part of the city to his place. Regarding the room, Jojo has given a great deal of thought into providing ameneties that you would need and the small touches and the attention to detail needs to be greatly appreciated. Everything you need for a short stay was provided and everything was clearly labeled, starting from how to turn on the TV multi socket to where to hang the toilet key. We had a wonderful time at his place and will definitely be returning.

It is a pleasant place to stay , more or less everything is available for bachelors to stay. Family may feel discomfort due to separate toilet. I'm a returning customer and would like to be a guest again if rooms are available (as room is in great demand). Thanks JoJo being my beautiful host.

This is not the first time in JoJo's place. I am really thankful again for everything jojo has provided. Its like when I am thinking about my tour in Kolkata , JoJo's place is the only place which comes in my mind.

The room was quite easy to spot considering how it's located in a decent place. Even though Jojo wasn't present there physically, he never missed reaching out to us if we needed anything. The room is not too big and do note that there is not attached bathroom. But we did not mind it a bit considering how the bathroom was right outside the room and assigned only to us. There's 24 hours hot water and an Amazon fire stick at your service. The helpers spruce up the room and keep it very neat. The bathroom albeit small, was very clean and was scrubbed every other day. Jojo even suggested restaurants to visit and helped us with the local transport service available. I will definitely recommend this place to others. Do not think twice before you book this room :)

The place was nice and clean. Please note that the washroom is not attached to the room and you have to travel through the entrance to reach it. My host had a major accident the day I arrived yet they made the best possible arrangements for me. They are wonderful people and would help you in all ways possible.

I booked the apartment for a German friend of mine and found Shekhar's property to be a nice, clean stay at a very posh locality in Kolkata.

Fortunately, I saw the landlord himself, very Nice and very cultivated, and the decoration is very rich. The house has a housekeeper who is very enthusiastic. Every day, I have a rich breakfast. There are coffee, tea, fried eggs and toast. There are newspapers to read! It is recommended to walk to the city park park street to the five-star recommendation! You can also cook yourself

Heart of Kolkata. Peaceful place. It's their own flat, so one can expect 5 star cleanliness, and 5 star hosting too. Sonali is very caring, and loves to engage with their guests. This is a great place for budget travellers. Would definitely book her place again if I plan to travel to the 'City of joy'.

Sonali is a phenomenal host and person, and staying here was like a home away from home. She was so accommodating of my absurdly late check in time (I landed at the airport at 1AM). She made wonderful breakfast every morning, and even prepared a special Indian breakfast on my last day. She gave helpful recommendations for places to visit and eat at. The place is very good value for your money. It's near many restaurants and atm's as well, Uber and Ola easily get you there and if you want to ask for some food, you can as well. Mr. Dipak has a heartfelt hospitality and he makes sure you feel like you're at home -thank you for the bengali sweets!. The place is kept clean and no undesired animals were seen in the space. Hot and cold water, western style WC, fridge, a kitchen and with an air conditioning that I never used as I were there in February and the weather was nice. If you're looking for a safe and familiar stay, book with Chaitali and make Kolkata a second home. ¡Gracias!

Chaitali's place almost felt like home, I was looking for a traditional Calcutta house to stay in and it did exactly offered the same ..Big windows and lots of rooms for us to be comfortable. It's very clean and absolutely loved the linen provided. The area can be a hit and miss as we did not find any decent eating spots very closeby, But if you walk around 15 mins and hit the main roads then there are heaps of eateries. Overall it was a wonderful stay and i would recommend this to all.

Chaitali‘s place is located in a calm and green neighborhood. The place it very spacious and clean. We had an amazing time and I would recommend this place to anybody ever traveling to Kolkata!

The place is super warm and the hostess is really welcoming. She was there to make sure we were comfortably checked-in. The cute little place is perfect for unwinding. Terrace garden was the real cherry on the cake. We spent a lovely evening on the terrace, having delicious home-made dinner provided by the Hostess, Karabi Aunty, under the open sky. The place has everything you need, perfect for two. The complimentary breakfast which again was home-cooked, was outstanding. Absolutely loved the location, the service and everything about our stay. Karabi's place was a touch of serenity in between all the chaos which Kolkata can offer. You've gotta a nice little warm up each day when you take the steps up and down the 3 floors. The place is very quiet, clean and you can have a pleasant little sitout during the evenings having a cup of coffee or just for a stroll enjoying all the lovely flowers up there in the garden. Karabi and her staff are pleasant, welcoming and ever warm in making sure things are all okay and well for the guests. The breakfasts are good and you can even request a Bengali breakfast for a day, should you look forward to it. The house is in a very quiet neighborhood and easily accessible by cabs, local buses and motorcycles. If your renting a bike or a car, you'd have enough space on the road to park and get along every day. Inside the house, the beds are cozy, and a cozy little kitchen for 2 with all the necessary amenities, the washroom is a little tight and the water pressure a little slow, but if your someone who's not worried about tight corners or pushy taps, it should be just fine. Overall, we loved the stay and her warm embrace and would love to go back ssom

Even though my stay was a short one but it has been truly exceptional. They were extremely welcoming and the hospitality has been amazing. This place is very calm and quiet and it has all amenities you need to have. And most importantly it is very clean. The Breakfast was absolutely delicious and served with utmost care. Regarding the location, this place is centrally located and in close proximity to the city center. Public transport is easily accessible once you get out of the house. I would highly recommend the place for the price you pay and it’s worth every penny.

Located in a posh neighnourhood,this place is a slice of serinity amidst the busy city. Come home to a peaceful cup of tea or a stroll in the verdant terrace and enjoy an evening chatting with Karabi and her family to experience the local flavour. Very nice Hostel. Nice, clean, good Wifi. There is a fridge that you can use and a small kitchen. There is no hot water in the showers, but the hosts have prepared a special heater for its own heating. The flat has two rooms. One double and the other, where single beds are purchased. Good localization. We are pleased and recommend. PS Small minusik that you can smoke in the common area.

Vagabong Diaries is a perfect place if you're on a budget. Address is a little hard to find but Lopa is a wonderful host. The place is cozy and the common room is just perfect for small talks and making new friends. All in all I enjoyed my stay at Vagabong diaries and I'll be at Vagabong in my future visits to the city of joy.

If want to live in bohemian style house , very close to central and south Calcutta. A very jovial and helpful host. Added with freedom to be just like your house. Cosy and elegant.

Odette's apartment is very comfortable, in a very nice area, not too crowded but with the right shops at hand. The apartment is very easy to reach both with the Metro and with Uber, which in Calcutta works very well. A little noisy, but it's the noise of India. I would definitely go back.

Located right in the middle of Gariahat , it is any shopper's delight in Kolkata but it comes without the din of the place which is amazing . Arjun was very helpful long before the stay even started and was just a message away for any requirement. Very impressed overall, highly recommend and now I know where to stay when I next plan the trip to Kolkata ! Thank you !

We had a wonderful stay at Vineeta’s apartment and it was the perfect base for exploring Kolkata with all the amenities you could possibly need (Vineeta has thought of everything!). It’s very centrally located so most of the well-known sights, shops and restaurants are within walking distance. The apartment is housed in a heritage building with a beautiful staircase leading up to it. There are upmarket boutiques below and across from it, but it’s very a safe and quiet area and we slept very well. Vineeta was a lovely host. We were able to message her at any time. Vineeta provided us with lots of of recommendations. We will definitely base ourselves here next time we’re in Kolkata.

Great experience

The apartment is very well located in the centre of town. Most tourist spots, shopping centres and restaurants can be easily accessed within 10-15 minutes, by foot. The apartment is spacious enough for two travellers and has been thoughtfully done up. Vineeta is a great host and went out of her way to make our stay comfortable. She was easily reachable and always made herself available. Do ask her for local tips and visit her beautiful store just across the apartment. Thanks for hosting us Vineeta, our trip was much better because of you!

Vineeta's space is an ideal accommodation for backpackers and tourists alike, located in a century old structure, 4-5 min walk off Park Street and all the cool Kolkata places. It is beautifully setup and decorated, and Vineeta and her staff are at hand to help you with everything, from helping you settle in, and helping you with local know-how, to making sure you eventually get to airport hassle-free. She is a very warm host and me and my wife had a lovely couple of days staying here. Would definitely return here on my next trip! Highly recommended!!

Vineeta is a great host and the house is very comfortably located like 5 mins walking from Park Street. The house itself is very nicely done and you'll be torn between whether to stay in or go out. Honestly it felt like one of the BnBs I stayed in the West. Great job and highly recommend!

It’s a really nice homestay! The location is really good, it’s a quiet and safe area. And it’s easy to travel from there. You can come and go whenever you want. It’s no kitchen facilities, but there is an really good restaurant called Ekdalia Rd. nearby. The family is very hospitable, and Elena is so nice and helpful! We would recommend this place:)

Eleena is a fantastic host. She is super nice, warm, and hospitable. I grew up in Calcutta and so I knew the location. That said, the location and the house turned out to be much better than what I anticipated. It's really in a prime locality and you cannot get a better place to stay in Calcutta. The place is sparkling clean. And the art work all around is a huge nourishment for the soul. Eleena is a warm person and an excellent host. Her place is comfortable to stay and easy to reach. There are several good eateries near her place and I would particularly recommend Bhojohari Manna. There was warm water, wifi, tea/coffee in the room etc. Overall I would recommend this as a great place to stay.

Amazing place which has become my goto destination in kolkata. The location is quite good and cabs are easily available. The house itself is sparkling clean and the host has left no stone unturned in making the stay as comfortable as possible. Every small item of daily use has been thoughtfully kept for the guests use. Sumit ji is wonderful to interact with and is ever ready to help, although he was mostly never needed. Do visit when you are at kolkata.

Sumit's place was great, and I felt really lucky there was a cancelation that matched the night I was there. It's really just like having your own apartment, with everything you could need. Check in was easy, directions to find the place were outstanding, and the place was a nice, private apartment, in a quiet area but close to the train station, market, etc. Sumit was very nice to speak with during check in/out, and I'm sure if you needed advice about the area, he'd be happy to help. Great for a night, but would be even better for a longer stay.

Our stay was fantastic! Sumit's place is located in a quiet and safe area of Kolkata with easy access to everything. The apartment itself is equipped with everything we needed and Sumit was quick to answer questions and guide us on our exploration of his city. I really enjoyed my stay here. First of all the room is really cosy, with the small, but cute, attached bathroom. Everything you need is there (wifi, airconditioning etc.) The location is awesome: the neighborhood is very beautiful, quiet, friendly and like a small town in a big city. Sanjukta's place was a great choice for my visit to Kolkata! Sanjukta and her family were very kind and welcoming, and made me feel right at home. Sanjukta gave me some good tips on things to see in the area, and checked in on me every day to make sure I had what I needed. The room is quiet and cozy, with plenty of natural light and fresh air on tap. The rooftop was the icing on the cake - it's a nice quiet spot to hang out with the birds in the morning. The home is tucked away from the city bustle on a quiet side street just around the corner from Ballygunge Junction. It's a good home base for exploring Kolkata, while still enjoying some peace and quiet when you need it. Around the neighborhood you'll find a decent selection of street food and vendors, and it's a short stroll to some great cafes, restaurants, bakeries, and stores. Great value, recommended.

Good location, view of the Victoria monument in the distance. Clean apartment, lots of space. Nice experience with the host and family but there was another guest staying in our flat we werent aware of. Breakfast was great but it is cheaper in a restaurant if you can be bothered to go out. Byo toilet paper!!!!

Had a good stay at Anuja's place. She was responsive and helpful throughout and the place is in a good location, a short bus or taxi from many attractions.

Spacious room

Anuja's rental flat is fantastic and she keeps it very clean. Check in was a breeze and she cooks delicious meals for good prices. Location is great as it is close to many areas to visit and two buildings down from a delectable and very cheap vegetarian restaurant. Anuja herself is lovely, very proficient in English, and gave us some local tips as to where to buy certain things and how much particular items usually cost so we knew if we were getting ripped off. She even gave me access to her sewing kit. It was always a pleasure seeing her!

Well worth the money! Super easy for Ola/Uber to locate, charming and cosy room & reception, and extremely accommodating & attentive staff. Plenty of stalls just outside for snacks, fruit, tea, street food etc. Divya is a wonderful host and proactively reaches out with a full on travel guide to Kolkata. Highly recommended for at least the first night in town.

Ranjeet and the actual host, Ujjaini at the house were both great, Ranjeet was good with communication he explained me everything about the place, just the google drop point for the address was wrong( a technical error) , so it took me a little long to find the place but the building is bang on the main road, excellent location, very nice area, everything was spot on, had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. Ujjaini ji was very hospitable and a superb host. Would love to come back and I would suggest the place to anyone looking for a place in this budget. Lovely Host and Lovely apartment with old world charm. Also the room comes with a huge collection of books for the readers.

Our stay at Ranjeets was amazing! He and the woman on site at the house, Kum Kum, was the absolute best! Ranjeet was always quick to respond to our questions and requests and Kum Kum went above and beyond helping us and making sure our stay was comfortable. She really made so much of our travels easier with local tips,taking us to the market,and arranging our transportation to our next destination when issues came up for us. We would highly recommend this to any travelers passing through or visiting Kolkata...11 out of 10!!!

We had a really great time at the Lalbari. Ms. Ilna treated us like her family. The caretakers were also very polite and helpful. The house is beautifully decorated with antique furniture and decor. We had access to the library, a sitting room and a dining table. The room and bathroom were very clean. I would definitely stay here if I ever go back to Kolkata.

Very well located in prime location, feels little interior but once you settle in and get acquainted to the place, it feels well accessable from all major tourist spots. Rooms are decent but no food or tea coffee is available.

Comfortable and clean, the boy very good, I forget his name , he helped us a lot, really nice stay.

We didn’t meet padatik, instead Someya took care of us. Our door for the bathroom didn’t work, he tried to repair it immediately and we could use a different bathroom. As well it was possible to do a late check out. Unfortunately the communication was sometimes a little hard because of Someyas English. In the end it didn’t matter and we had a great stay.

This was my second stay at Stilt Walker. The place has an amazing location (Camac street which is less than 5 mins from Park street) and is a quaint, clean and affordable stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful and always available. Overall, I have had a smooth and peaceful experience both times I have stayed here. I'd highly highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Kolkata.

You want to stay at a great location like Camac street, be able to on early morning walks to Victoria Memorial, you have found the right place in Stilt Walker. A big stately old apartment with nice decor and period furniture, perfect way to get a feel of being a Kolkata local.

Stilt walker is very close to the prime location. Mr. Shekhar is very good human with great hospitalities and supportive regarding local guidance. His staff Sanjit Kumar is very cool, cooperative and quick responsive to ensure the services. Hope to stay there again...

Had a lovely time at Saroj aunt's place last week. A beautiful Calcutta home, indeed! The house is almost 50 years old but very well maintained with tastefully decorated pieces of art, pictures, furniture and everything. We loved our conversations and the collection of books, some of them very rare to find now. The best part is Princess Leia :) and you will be treated with a good amount of sniffs and snuggles... Saroj’s home is an excellent choice. It was on my first visit to the city of Kolkatta that I stayed at her most wonderful home. It’s spacious beyond imagination, filled with art, books and beautiful pieces of furniture. It has somewhat of a traditional feel to it, like the traditional Calcutta homes one hears about. It was clean and the amenities were on point. Saroj is a lovely person. She recommended some excellent restaurants and was always around to help me navigate the city. I enjoyed every chat we had together, really - our conversations went beyond nifty tips, though, as I found ourselves talking about music, movies, art and so much more. She gives you the privacy you might need as well. Just a lovely host and human being all in all. I would definitely return to stay at Saroj’s home. That I got the chance to spend time with her daughter’s cute dog Leia was an unexpected treat! Her dog Leia isn’t generally around the home, but I couldn’t have been happier that she was during my stay there! I’d completely recommend staying at Saroj’s and I would most definitely return! Stayed with wonderful Saroj for a bit more than 10 days and it was just like a home away from home in the City of Joy. The whole appartment and my room and adjoining bathroom were perfectly clean. There is an AC that I didn’t use, but a fan that I found just fine to cool everything a bit down. The bed was very comfortable and I had more than enough space in my room. Saroj is also offering a wonderful breakfast and I particularly enjoyed sitting down with her and get to know some local insights of Kolkata. It was also very practical to get some washing done after some days walking around the big city. The location is just fine with Park Street area within a 20 minute walking distance. The are also some good places to eat in the same street. I would definitely recommend anyone visiting Kolkata to stay at this really tastefully decorated appartment.

It's not me but my sister and her husband stay in her place. They really like the place locations and was impressed with the view through the window. However as the other guest mentioned, cleanliness in bathroom is an issue as there was no soap and toilet was not super clean!
