  • It was really nice to be able to walk our dog around this gorgeous property, especially in the middle of a long road trip. The location was great, very close to the interstate yet perched on the bluff with a stunning view.

  • I am so thankful to have found this Bnb! Shelly was super accommodating and welcoming. The view is spectacular and she allowed my bridal party to get ready in her home. No better place to stay in Rocheport, MO!

  • This is olacebis so special and Shelly is an amazing host . The view was magical . The place is clean and very spacious , much bigger than expected . We arrived after a long day to find the fridge stocked with cold water , juice and lots of breakfast treats . I would highly recommend this gem .

  • We met halfway for a family gathering over the holidays (5 of us). Shelley was an excellent host - when we arrived she left us breakfast foods, local wine and even a few extra cooking supplies we requested. I would say the place is stocked with more than most AirBNBs, in terms of supplies. The living room / dining area is very spacious, which was really convenient and relaxing. This is a large lower level unit, but it's built into a hill so the west side has plenty of windows (great sunset views over the river / bluffs). It's close to a really nice trail along the Missouri River - walkable if you're a hiker, or you can drive or bike a mile into Rocheport and get on the trail there. Overall, it was a great stay and Shelley is very accommodating and prompt with communication.

Originally built in 1847, my home is close to the city center and parks. You’ll love it because of the solitude of being in the country, yet conveniently near downtown Boonville.. Ideal for couples, solo adventurers, and furry friends (pets).
Originally built in 1847, and added to throughout the years, Roseheart combines rustic charm and functionality in its space.
My home is within walking distance of downtown Boonville. Amenities include several restaurants, a casino, the historic Katy bridge and the Katy Trail.
  • John met us upon arrival and showed us our accommodations. We especially enjoyed morning coffee on the upstairs porch and the friendly cat. Unique rooms and good location.

    Mike2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • I was looking for an inexpensive place to stay while biking the KATY Trail. This was a very basic facility more like a hostel, but that was good enough for me. I would not recommend it for a romantic getaway. John was very friendly, but this is an old house that has not been updated in decades.

    Mar2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Good value, kind host, would recommend

    Elizabeth2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay! Although we didn't get to meet John, there was great communication, and his place was very welcoming. Enjoyed the interesting décor!

    Tarah2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • John was very friendly and accommodating. The house was large and the guest area felt very secluded. The house is very old and some of the doors are stubborn but it never seemed to be too big of an issue. John was willing to let us check in early and take a nap before embarking on our afternoon. The air conditioning works well once it's kicked on and the bed was decently comfy. The home decor was so interesting! He had various instruments and vintage books and other random vintage trinkets. Overall I would recommend staying here, especially if it's as conveniently located for you as it was for us (the only option that was only 30 minutes away from our destination).

    Whitney2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • John was a wonderful host. He was great with communication, he even gave us a ride to the park when we were super tired! He was able to accommodate numerous other guests and we never even saw or heard them. The neighborhood is in a really quiet, safe place. We had expensive bikes and no worries that they would be tampered with. We were very thankful to have found John's Airbnb.

    Monica2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot, John is great

    Jared2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • READ TO THE END: At first glance, you may be thinking that you have the wrong (URL HIDDEN) looks rather unkempt. You knock on the door and John opens with a bright, welcoming smile and a genuine inquiry about your trip. You step inside and you are back to, "am I in the right place?" mode again. The decor is very eclectic, but oh so interesting! The floors creak, but it adds a since of being at grandma's. John adds very special touches to make your stay warm and inviting. I slept like a baby and felt "at home"! We had a lot of people and John was awesome to supply us with anything we needed and give us little "extras"....I will let you be pleasantly surprised as we were! If you like adventure and things out of the ordinary, and need a lot of room, this is the place for you!

  • This stay was amazing. Linda is the sweetest hostess. Her home is filled with love, charm, and positive energy. Linda took time to learn about us and make us feel special. She went out of her way to make us a wonderful breakfast. I could not have been more pleased. Linda and her home are amazing.

  • Great accommodations! Beautiful room, nice common area, kitchenette, great bath. Breakfast was unbelievable and served in the sunroom. A wonderful stay. Linda is so sweet and accommodating. You will love your stay here!

    Susan2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for one night while biking the Katy Trail. Linda was very flexible with our arrival, and we had a big plate of baked cookies about 30 minutes later. The rooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was made to order and excellent, and Linda made extra muffins and bacon for us to take along for that day. It's a great place to spend the night in Boonville.

  • Robert has excellent communication and is very helpful. The house is lovely and nicely located. I recommend it to any traveler and plan to return.

  • Great place, great location and Rob is indeed a super host!

  • This wonderful home is in a private, safe location. Rob made sure we were well taken care of and kept in contact in case there were any concerns. There were many little special touches that made us feel very welcomed! The house is clean and well decorated...we loved it! We will definitely stay again!

    Lindsay2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Felt just like home. Quiet cul de sac. Great for grandson to ride his bike. We will stay again.

    lauren2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • The house was exactly as described! You can really feel how the host took pride in their rental and honestly wanted to make sure we had a great experience. If I could give our host 10 stars for communication, I would! His response time was incredibly fast! Our host welcomed us with a very thoughtful gift and there were complete instructions for checking in as well as checking out. We found the town to be very charming and hit a home run with a few local restaurants. I've rented many homes across the country and this one has to be one of the best values I've seen. I would highly recommend this house and the host to anyone. Tom

    Tom2016-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience at Robert's place. From the moment we booked the home, Robert has been in regular communication with us and even sent us information about things to do in the area. The place has a homey feel and had everything we could possibly need. We stopped in at Robert's place on our way to local vineyards and Robert was so thoughtful to leave us with a bottle of wine, wine glasses and a corkscrew to start our trip off right. Robert has signs around the home to help you find the things you need. Bed was super comfortable. The only thing we missed out on was being able to spend time on the screened in back patio. Looking forward to a longer stay in the future.

    Serena2017-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • The listing description was accurate. The house was lovely and clean. There were chalk boards with information s to where everything us. The lights were on and a bottle of wine and a nice note was waiting for us. Robert was a great host and the house was nice, clean comfortable coffee and towels and anything needed was available. The back yard had a nice outdoor area as well. It was very easy to communicate with Robert. This was my first experience with airbnb and Rob made it very easy.

If you like camping you will enjoy this quaint two-room 500 sq ft timber frame structure nestled in the midst of a naturalized garden in the rural Midwest. Eclectic mix of antique and vintage furniture, pottery, art work. Water available outside; electric inside; Wi-Fi. Composting toilet in separate building. Max 3 adults or 2 adults/2 children. Well behaved cat/dog is acceptable. Outside sun shower or tub. No events. No indoor smoking or candles. Hosts live about 15 minutes away.
I would have thought that my little cabin could be described as “Rustic’- but when I look at other listings that term seems to include many luxury items I can’t offer. So perhaps it would best be described as “primitive with wi-fi”, “boho grandma chic”, or some other silly term. However we describe our little cabin it provides a simple, beautiful, quiet space at an affordable price. Like camping, but maybe nicer, because at the end of the day there’s a leak-proof roof and a comfortable bed! Depending on the season you may wake up to wind in the willows, rain on the metal roof, cacophonous frog song, the tapping of woodpeckers, or the raucous call of a young heron landing on the little pond. (If you want to explore along the Missouri River, access to the Katy Trail for hiking or biking is just a few miles away in Boonville or Rocheport.) The timber frame cabin features 19th century wooden timbers reclaimed from my great-grandparents barn in Iowa, a structure originally built to house draft horses as the railroad was being pushed through the Midwestern prairie-and later locally famous as a venue for country dancing. Here at the cabin, dishwashing and bathing is done the old-fashioned way, by heating up water or by harnessing the power of the sun (the advent of the fabulous electric tea kettle takes care of small amounts). If you like cold water in the summertime there’s a large outside tub- and you can fill it up for a cold soak. The cabin is surrounded by a mix of prairie, native trees, and a naturalized garden of trees, shrubs and perennials. Something is usually blooming- from the first fragrant witch hazel in February to the last asters and sunflowers of fall. No matter the weather you can find shelter from sun or rain along the outside of the cabin: an eastern facing shade structure (outside furniture and a dining table), a Southern ‘picnic’ table area, and a western facing intimate bricked patio just outside the small bedroom. There’s also a great spot to relax in a hammock under the birch trees. Cooking can be done inside or out by electric hotplate, skillet, or crockpot. Inside there is a small frig and microwave. There is a modest supply of utensils, dinnerware, glasses, cups, and pots and pans. Dishwashing is done at an outside sink. The décor is a mix of antique wooden furniture, old and new art, vintage pottery, and books! Outside, if you’re quiet, you might see native rabbits or deer as they sneak in to nibble at our organic garden of vegetables, fruit trees, ornamental shrubs, and flowering perennials. We’ve also seen coyotes, fox, skunk and bobcat in the woods and prairie. The fields are populated by the other usual country critters- squirrels, mice, voles, groundhogs, box turtles, birds, insects, five stripe skinks, and snakes. There's a vocal population of bullfrogs and tree frogs. Hawks nest and raise their young nearby. There are armadillos in the vicinity but so far we’ve haven’t spotted any of those. From neighboring farms you may hear the sounds of cattle, horses, braying donkeys, or dogs. A few steps from the cabin you can walk up a brief incline and make your way to the quiet green shade of the pond. The property also features a lovely, small spring-fed ‘branch’ on the eastern perimeter, a deep ravine to the north, and many opportunities for slow meandering, looking, and thinking. There are good spots for yoga, laughter, conversation, meditating, praying, daydreaming, dancing, painting, reading, napping or writing. There is a wooden yoga/sleeping deck just outside the back door- a great place to sleep under the stars. You can peruse an eclectic selection of books- fiction old and new, and a variety of topics from biology and anatomy to birds, wildflowers, and gardening. We provide towels, sheets, quilts/blankets, and rags for emergency cleaning (mud or spills), but we ask that you bring your own personal care items since we’re not charging you for fancy soap and shampoo. On Saturday you can head into Boonville for organic eggs and fresh fruit and vegetables at the small farmer’s market, or drive into Columbia to the much, much larger one. There is a dorm sized refrigerator so if you bring lots of food we encourage you to use a cooler. If the vegetable garden is producing we will hope to provide you with some vegies, fresh herbs, or tomatoes- and if the timing is right we’ll put some flowers on the kitchen table. Or perhaps you’ll venture out to pick some wildlings from the prairie or the ditches. Our primary vegetable gardening is done in the field above the cabin (you won’t usually see us but you might hear us laughing as we work up there). We tend the upper garden and the cabin gardens several times weekly, depending on how much watering and weeding is needed. If you want to learn more about gardening we always need help and we love to talk organic gardening with anyone who is interested. The cabin is less than five miles from a basic grocery store in Boonville, or about 25 miles from a wide array of international, organic and natural foods in Columbia. Access to the Katy Trail and the Missouri River is nearby. If you’re from out of state and you want a cultural outing there are many local and regional historical sites, as well as museums in Fayette, Columbia (Museum of Art and Archaeology, and the Boone County Historical Society), Sedalia (the Daum), the St Louis Art Museum, and Kansas City’s Nelson-Atkins Art Institute. If you want to eat out the local choices are wide, from down-home cafes in nearby small towns to upscale wineries (nearby Rocheport) and bistros (Columbia and Rocheport). The main cabin has a double bed and a futon. The small bedroom (twin bed) has a separate entry from the outside, just off the enclosed brick patio (this set-up might make it unsuitable for some young children). Window AC is available in the main room, the small bedroom can only be cooled with a fan. WHAT WE PROVIDE: Basic dishes, pots and pans. Beds with sheets, pillows, blankets. Towels and washcloths. Toilet paper and dish soap. We will provide a supply of extra water as protection against loss of electricity or problems with the well (unlikely, but always best to be prepared). We keep small amounts of herbs and spices in the kitchen, along with pepper corns and salt. Our deep well is a source of some of the best and cleanest drinking water you'll ever enjoy. WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING: Food, flashlights, sunscreen and mosquito repellent; your preferred lotions, soaps, shampoo; camping gear if you want to sleep outside; camp stove if you don’t want to use electric appliances. Hats. Sturdy shoes and pants if you want to hike through the fields or woods (to protect yourself from poison ivy, chiggers and ticks). When you leave we hope the cabin will be reasonably tidy with used towels and sheets placed on the counter, dishes cleaned, and appliances turned off. We ask that you place compostable material in the compost bucket, and that you separate the recyclables from the actual ‘trash’. If you need help with something, we’re about fifteen minutes away. We’re usually in bed before 9 (but up by five or six).
This is a rural property with neighbors about 1/2 a mile away in three directions.
  • What a wonderful, relaxing retreat! A great delight to be so close to great restaurants and grocery stores, yet very removed from the hustle-bustle of city living. Not a cabin for those unaccustomed to nature (with bunnies, wild turkeys, deer, and the sound of coyotes yipping at night), but a great respite if you do not get enough in your daily life. The night skies were so clear we were inspired to buy a star chart to learn constellations. As the only running water is outside, we were happy to be there during very warm weather when a cold hose shower felt quite nice (there is a sun shower available but we did not use it). The composting toilet is housed in a separate area-- so it is important you feel comfortable taking a little walk to use it. Although our nine year old city child was a bit trepidatious of the whole thing, he had a great time. We were able to find box turtles to look at, and had a praying mantis that stayed in the cabin with us ---for some great biology lessons!

Charming new 1930's style retro cottage with 2 bedrooms with king and queen beds-and a den with queen and full sleeper sofas. Open floor plan all hickory hardwood floors, gas burning fireplace, gourmet kitchen.
It's a new house built only (only 6 years old) in 1930's retro style. So, all the modern conveniences with the older styling.
Rocheport is a beautiful charming little river town. With cute shops & of course the Katy Trail, just a couple of blocks away, great for walking and biking. Also, the city park is just down the street, A great place to let the kids blow off some steam.
  • This house was amazing! We enjoyed our stay immensely. It was decorated to perfection and he amenities we're first class! The hosts were great! This was our first time using Airbnb and they were extremely patient through the process. It was very clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this listing to anyone looking for a nice, beautiful, and relaxing place to rent!

  • Beth was very welcoming, even asking ahead of time what kind of fruit and milk we wanted for breakfast. She provided the blueberries and pears we requested plus various breakfast options, including addictive cinnamon rolls. The house was even better than expected. Its a new home, wonderfully decorated, but it has the outside look of an old home, so it fits into the neighborhood. The hosts provided three bikes for our use, including a tandem. The house is two short blocks from the Katy Trail. We loved everything about the place--location, floor plan, amenities, screened-in porch, even the master bath was fabulous. Would definitely recommend to friends and would go back for sure. Totally satisfied.

  • This is a beautifully kept home, with easy to use kitchen, beautiful bedrooms and baths and a lovely common space and screened in porch. We loved our weekend here.

    Alison2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Ron & Beth's Rocheport cottage was wonderful. It was peaceful, quaint, esthetic and yet had all the modern conveniences. The provided breakfast items were very appreciated! Although I tried to keep it healthy the kids outvoted me and asked for pop-tarts which Ron & Beth gladly delivered at both the beginning of our adventure and in mid-stride to keep them fed and happy. We were just down the road from relatives and it was nice to walk between the cottage and our Mom's home. The Katy Trail was right there and beautiful, like it always is. We love the fact that Stephen King visited Rocheport, MO and filmed part of his movie "Sometimes They Come Back" in the tunnel. To Ron & Beth: Thank you for the wonderful hospitality and for sharing this charming home with us!

    Lisa2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in Rocheport at the cottage was as comfortable of an experience as there can be. Beautiful exterior and interior. The screened-in porch was very nice and relaxing. The kitchen was in excellent condition. Easy walk to the General Store. Simple navigation from the Katy Trail. The group of us who stayed there said it might have been the nicest lodging we'd ever had. Hope to do it again sometime.

    Mitch2015-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our visit to the little village of Rocheport was outstanding in every aspect. Ron and Beth were quick to answer any questions by email, and the check-in process was clear and easy to follow. With the close proximity to the Katy Trail, a bicycle and walking path across Mid-Missouri from St. Louis to Kansas City, the home was decorated with numerous cycling touches: pillows, prints, sculptures and more. Since I'm an avid cyclist, I immediately felt at home. And when we discovered bikes for our use in the garage, I knew we had hit the jackpot! Two trail bikes and a tandem. Although we were in the area for Mizzou homecoming, we had Sunday morning free, and, with beautiful fall weather, took the bikes out for a spin. I had never ridden a tandem before, but it was so much fun that I laughed 'til I cried. The home is warm and inviting, well designed for entertaining, with a screened in porch, and there are even laundry facilities. I loved the hard wood floors, the drawers have a soft-close system, and there's a great pantry. Our hosts made us feel welcome with fresh fruit in the fridge (they even asked what our favorite types were!), along with some awesome homemade cinnamon rolls. Thank you! And, it was wonderful to be able to put our cars in the garage! I loved being able to wake up to coffee in the morning, grab something to eat, visit with family from out of state, and then head out for our day. Overall, an outstanding visit, and one that I would definitely make again. Just make sure you stop in Columbia for groceries, or bring them with you.

  • This was one of the most incredible places we have stayed. The hosts of this Airbnb are incredible people who made our stay one of the bests we’ve experienced. Weddings tend to be stressful, but Ron & Beth’s place has plenty of space to spread out, porches to “get away” and enough beds to sleep a small army. This house is exactly, no better than the pictures! If you’re looking for a place to stay, this is the perfect one!

  • The house was just as described. It was adorable and very clean. We enjoyed the breakfast items that were provided and all the comforts of home were included. We enjoyed ourselves and felt right at home. Beth met us when we got there and made sure we had everything we needed, which we did. The bikes that were available were very nice, as well. We would definitely come back for a future visit. We loved the screened in porch! Thanks, Beth & Ron! Tracy

  • Any place you stay in Rocheport is close to the bike trail and the quaint boutiques and shops, but not every place provides you a safe place to store your bikes too! Lisa did a great job stocking the kitchen with breakfast items for two days! The loft is super clean and comfortable. And the air conditioning was working great too! We highly recommend staying here!

This is an office with a bunk bed. It has a bathroom and closet available for guest's exclusive use. Coffee and tea service provided. In arts and craft hand built passive solar straw bale studio/home. Close to Boonslick State Historical Site for which the region was named. According to a local historian, Daniel Boone would camp on our land when coming up river from near St. Louis to visit his son.
  • We held a weekend retreat at Peter's place. We especially appreciated how accommodating Peter was and how he and Christine met our every need. It was a very peaceful and productive weekend. The apartment is beautifully built and comfortable. Our favorite part of the weekend was when we took time out on Sunday morning for a water color painting class in the studio. It was hot outside, so we set up tables in the studio facing the windows that overlook the hillside and had lots of things to capture in our paintings. We had such a powerful and peaceful weekend and look forward to returning soon.

  • This home is lovely, and built by the owner. They were very hospitable. The property is quite a way "off the beaten path" and you will be pleased if that is what you are looking for. The bed was comfortable and the place was very clean. Be sure to get very detailed directions from the host, and I recommend getting there during daylight your first visit/night.

  • We stayed three nights at Peters lodge. They made these nights very comfortable, giving us clean sheets/towels, making sure the AC was running properly, also his communication was great. Him and his friend Christine were very friendly and made us feel welcomed. I recommend the lodge to anybody that want to get away from the city life and just relax. Will be staying there again.

The second larger bathroom is located at the bottom of the back stairway. Great access to Katy Trail and Missouri River. The East bedroom is a large room overlooking mainstreet. Room has a queen size bed, single leather sleeper sofa, and small love seat. French doors connect East Bedroom with second bedroom, which has two twin beds.
  • Really nice, quaint place centrally located. Would be great for larger parties with substantial space to spread out. Great continental breakfast spread. We enjoyed playing some of the games the hosts had left out. Overall 5 stars.

  • 2nd floor apartment on Main street. It was perfect for what we needed. We were biking on the MKT and it was close to the trail. We were able to walk to church, restaurants, and the casino. The hostess was kind enough to show up and early have the A/C on, and a cool place for us. This was my first AirBNB stay and I liked it. All the snacks/essentials that were stocked were very much appreciated.

Designed to be a caretaker couple's apartment to assist in taking care of my Mom. Comfortable and lots of light. Opens on a massive deck overlooking forest and pasture for sheep. People from all backgrounds are extremely welcome. Lodge is set in a historic area right by the Missouri river and is filled with art work and handmade furniture. Private entrance. We find diversity to be a great opportunity to meet a variety of people. If you love nature and wildlife this place is for you!!
Hand made rustic furniture, cabinets and room partitions make this apartment unique, comfortable and warm.
Our neighborhood is full of historic significance. Daniel Boone's son owned the property and had the salt business that the region is named after. The Boonslick State Historic site is within walking distance. The farm is known for Native American artifacts, wild mushrooms, blackberries and paw paws. We are next to the Missouri River Bottoms. We are 12 miles from the Isle of Capri Casino. We are just 12 miles from I-70 making it perfect for cross country travelers. We are on the Santa Fe Trail and the Lewis and Clark Trail. We are just 32 miles from the University of Missouri in Columbia-perfect for graduation celebrations and football gatherings.
  • Peter's place is perfect for a weekend retreat. We booked both levels of the Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Peter and Christine were excellent hosts, provided unlimited supplies of coffee and tea and made our stay very worthwhile. We especially enjoyed how well-built and beautiful the farm is. We want to return soon.

  • This was exactly what our little family needed; no wi-fi, no distractions, clean air, beautiful scenery and a perfectly decorated rustic yet well-appointed home. We had an amazing time and appreciated all the effort Peter went to for suggestions on "must-see" places in the area. Peter is a friendly and understanding host (only my second time using AirBnB). And spend some time appreciating all the craftsmanship and artistic touches Peter has created and installed in his home(s). Go check out the river right down the road! Next time we'll bring our poles.

  • This place is beautiful!! It's location is secluded and very quiet. It is next to the Missouri River and surrounded by many interesting historical landmarks. There is also great access to the Katy Trail near by. Peter was an excellent host, very friendly and very helpful. His apartment is beautiful and is perfect for a quiet getaway. I will definitely look to book his place again to explore the history and hike some of the trails near by. Highly recommend!

    Justin2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Peter and Christine were gracious hosts, even when we arrived a half hour later than planned. I should have done a screen shot of the map before heading out, as my GPS was lagging quite a bit out there and we missed two turns. One, there was no street sign with the County Road number and the other, my GPS had his home on the opposite side of the street about half mile further down the road. Anyway, they were very kind when we arrived. We had a relaxing, unplugged time, if you need WiFi, cell phone service or TV, this is not the place for you. But for us, it was just what we were looking for...quiet and in the middle of the places we were visiting that weekend...Fayette, access to the Katy Trail, Boonville, and Arrow Rock. Also, it was nice to to have a kitchen to fix breakfast in and eat on the balcony. Thanks!
