Places to stay in Borth
You will have use of the whole ground floor of our large house. 1 DOUBLE BED, 3 SINGLES. It is very spacious and comfortable. If you just book the double then I don't take bookings on the other interconnecting room so you will have your privacy. Fantastic for families, friends, couples and singles. The ground floor has a kitchen, bathroom and 2 bedrooms for your own use, we have our own kitchen and bathroom upstairs. Sorry, I cannot accommodate dogs.
As with many of the listings on Airbnb this is a family home - not a traditional bnb. We have a large double bedroom and a lovely, sunny twin bedroom. Our home is right by the sea on the lovely west wales coast in Borth, just 6 miles from Aberystwyth. Borth has a fabulous beach and wonderful views of the mountains in the distance. We have a few shops, cinema, cafes and 3 pubs. There are breathtaking walks right from the front door. We are easy to visit by public transport because we are right by a train station and bus stop. The main bedroom is large, light and airy with high ceilings. It has a comfortable antique bed and beautiful turkish carpet. Off the main bedroom through an interconnecting door, is a lovely twin bedroom. I have an extra single bed that fits in the double room if required. (£15 extra per night). If two guests want to use both rooms there is an extra charge of £15 per night. (Basically I charge £40-£45 depending on the season, for the use of the double bed and then an extra £15 per extra bed used) We have toys and childrens books. The whole house is centrally heated. We have plenty of room for bikes and parking is plentiful right outside the house. We provide the basics of tea and coffee, fresh linen, and towels. Included in the price is a fabulous 'help yourself' breakfast which includes things like muesli, cereal, fruit, yogurt, bread, jams and preserves, fruit juice, fresh pot of tea or coffee, herb teas. You have your own shower room on the ground floor along with the your kitchen and the guest bedroom. We have another kitchen and bathroom upstairs so when we have guests we use those. We have fun things to play with for the sea that you could use; kayak canoes etc. Aberystwyth has an Arts Centre, cinema, museum, beautiful views. There is a bird sanctuary where BBCs Springwatch was filmed, an osprey centre,The Centre for Alternative Technology, Borth railway museum, amazing bike rides and a mini zoo close by. Hinterland was filmed all around the area. The village also has a beautiful new cinema for those rainy days. You can get surf lessons here or just mess around on body boards. We have a spaniel/collie dog who generally wanders around the house and sleeps in the kitchen. If you don't love dogs then maybe this will not be the place for you as she likes to hang out downstairs in the kitchen. We have travelled lots ourselves in the past and remember the special times we have had - we want our visitors to also experience special times on their holidays. WE LOVE IT HERE - hope you do to!
Sea side village with amazing views. At the weekends there may be live music in one of the local pubs. We now have a lovely new Cinema in Borth. We are part of Borth Community Gardens. If you would like to help out on the organic gardens that could be arranged. We have friends with many skills so if you would like to go for a guided walk or have a therapeutic massage that can also be arranged. WALKERS - I am happy to help you with pick ups from walks if I am not busy - reasonable charge to cover my fuel/time. The train runs to our house from Machynlleth and Aberystwyth - both points on the Welsh coastal Path. We are also at the start of a Pilgrimage route to Strata Florida - about 40 miles! You could do part of it while you are here - its wonderful.
  • The accommodation is a relaxed private bedroom and partly shared kitchen and shower/washroom space, well placed on the road to the Station/bus stop (fab for exploring the area) and a stones throw from the local shop, pub, cinema. Very easy going hosts, thoughtful and helpful. Even though the weather was wet and it was cold, we had an interesting, fun time. Visit the Friendship Inn (a great place, lives up to it's name, with antiques upstairs and impromptu musical happenings!) We got a good look at the submerged forest remains on the beach just a couple of mins walk from the house, which was brilliant. The Cinema is great but was not serving food, neither was the Indian takeaway sadly. The Vic pub where we had an evening meal was not the best grub in town but the beer was very good. Definitely would recommend the Ice-cream Emporium for spicy soup, tasty veggie things and cake etc. I wish they had been open in the evening. Top tip....if you go to Borth in winter, pack your wellies and warmest jumper :)

  • Our second stay at Kasper’s and it was great again. The only downside is having to leave Juno the dog behind when we leave.

    David2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication prior to our arrival and a lovely welcome. The downstairs was at our disposal with all kinds of helpful touches. Tea and coffee and a chat on arrival, milk in the fridge, music in the kitchen, wood to light the stove. Best of all the most friendly dog Juno to make a fuss of. Definitely staying again.

    Monique2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely love this place. Kasper & Co are the most wonderful hosts. Can’t wait to come back soon!

  • Lovely location, we loved the fuel burner in the bedroom. Everything was comfortable and our stay was relaxing. I’d definitely recommend it. 💐

    Judith2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • A very welcoming and relaxed home. We love being able to make our own breakfast, from a good selection of items provided by Kasper, at a time to suit us. This was our second visit and we hope to visit again next year.

    Sharon2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved it, other half was well happy. Will be coming again!

This 2 bedroom apartment is right in the heart of Aberdovey. It has fantastic sea views and is immediately opposite the beach. It is beautifully decorated and well equipped, with convenient parking nearby. All the ingredients for a fantastic holiday!
The apartment is on the second floor of a four-storey building. There is an open plan sitting/dining room and kitchen, with a large bay window looking across the beach and estuary. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, and a washing machine with dryer. The first bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom has bunk beds (full size so suitable for adults or children). In the bathroom, there is a bath with a shower and a heated towel rail. The apartment is well equipped for small people. There is a travel cot, a highchair and a hand blender.
Aberdovey is a gorgeous town. The highlight is, of course, the beach - four miles of beautiful sand, backed by sand dunes and an eighteen-hole links golf course. There is plenty to do around the town. For the active visitor, there is an impressive range of activities - putting green, tennis courts, crab fishing, walks, kite flying, playground/swings, tennis, bowls, golf, sailing and loads more. Aberdovey is also a lovely place to potter around, with a range of beautiful shops (clothes, gifts, artwork), nice coffee shops, pubs, butcher, convenience store, deli etc. Further afield, there are great day trips. One of our favourite ‘days out’ is to walk along the beach to Tywyn (takes about an hour and a half), where there is a lovely café for lunch. You can then walk or get the train back. Other day trips include the Dolgoch Falls, Talyllyn Railway, the Centre for Alternative Technology, the Bearded Lake and plenty more.
  • Wonderfully comfortable apartment with everything we needed, and a view that was wonderful to see first thing every morning! The free parking just across the road is a real bonus too. Lots of amazing beach walks and some lovely little places to eat & drink.

Rockside is a stones throw away from the beautiful blue flag beach of Borth. It has been newly renovated to offer a stunning 3 bedroom holiday house with open plan kitchen and diner downstairs and a living room which opens out onto a balcony upstairs for breathtaking views over cardigan bay. It is within walking distance to local shops, cafes, restaurants and boutique cinema. You can enjoy the beach and coastal path on your doorstep or take a drive inland to nearby Aberystwyth.
  • We had the most loveliest stay at this beach house. Spotlessly clean and a really stylish home. We stayed in and cooked every evening as the kitchen was just fantastic! This is a great place for a little escape with family and friends. Worth every penny and will definitely be booking again :)

    Edie2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of six had a really wonderful time at Katie’s house. The location is great...and the views are incredible. We were lucky to have great weather and the sunsets were just spectacular. The house is delightful and spotlessly clean. Everything was really comfortable and relaxing. I have already recommended the house to some friends and family and we hope to come back ourselves for another wonderful break. I really can not recommend this house and host, highly enough!

    Kate2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this accommodation as a surprise for my partners special birthday, it was well presented, clean and had everything we needed. There were 6 adults and one child who stayed at the accommodation and there was plenty of room. There was a shop within a 2 minute walk to stock up on supplies and the staff in there were helpful. We ordered an Indian from Tandoori which was amazing. This was a 5 minute drive down the road, unfortunately they don’t deliver however this wasn’t a problem. Highly recommend. I could imagine it would be lovely In the summer months, sitting on the balcony with a coffee taking in the views. Katie the host was brilliant from start to finish, communication and was excellent. I would highly recommend this accommodation.

    Phil2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place with only a road separating you from the beach! The view from the living room is fantastic, especially when the sun is setting. The house has everything you need and is very comfortable. The kitchen and dining area is lovely and spacious and well equipped if you are planning on staying in and cooking. In terms of the local area we would highly recommend the Victoria pub about 5-10 minute walk down into Borth the food and staff are brilliant! The zoo is also worth a visit although very small the staff are great and you can get pretty close to most of the animals, good if you have little ones to entertain.

    Emily2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don’t do it justice - it’s a beautiful place and the views are incredible. We won’t ever stay anywhere else in Borth!

    Rachael2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful stay we all had this week! We arrived at Katie’s on Tuesday and stayed until Friday (4 adults and 1 baby) and what an incredible place! The house is beautiful and was immaculate! All the amenities you would need she had. We even had welsh cakes and wine on arrival which is such a lovely touch! The views of Borth beach and sea were the icing on the cake and to sit in the living room looking out to that view was amazing! We all cannot wait to return!

    Aimee2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, tidy, well equipped house in a superb location.

This traditional stone building is situated in the family friendly seaside village of Borth. It’s just a stone’s throw from the gorgeous Borth beach and the village is ideal for summer fun and bracing beach walks. Borth has plenty of activities to keep you occupied including some fantastic village pubs, beaches, amusements and cafes, we even a zoo and a cinema in the village!
We’re offering the first floor apartment of a beautiful traditional fisherman’s cottage, partly rebuilt and extended in 1890’s it retains much of the original stone work & beams. Situated on Borth High Street we’re just a stones throw away from the beach! The space can sleep up to 7 in total, it has 2 main bedrooms, with a double bed, a king size bed, and a small sofa bed in the spacious main bedroom we also have an additional attic space/third bedroom with an additional double bed, it's a lovely space. This is a full size low level double bed although the ceiling height is low .This is a beautiful and charming apartment that won’t disappoint.
We’re lucky to have fantastic pubs in the village so try the Railway pub if you’re after a good laugh (that’s just 5 minutes’ walk away) or perhaps The Friendship, if you’re looking for something a bit quirky (that’s just 10mins walk away). Just opposite there you have The Vic if you enjoy a beach view! We have a village zoo (Borth Animal Kingdom) just 15mins walk away which is a great day out and the beautiful local village cinema, Libanus 1877, a must visit during your stay! I’m sure you’ll want some fish & chips by the seaside, so I’d recommend a trip to the fantastic Acorn chippie which is almost next door and we also have a fantastic Indian that is literally next door! Borth is a great base to see much of Wales, not only do we have the gorgeous sand dunes of Ynyslas just a 10min drive away but you can hike the coastal paths to get to the fantastic University town of Aberystwyth which has plenty to offer in terms of activities, restaurants and nights out. From Borth you can also visit Snowdonia National Park by car if you’re looking for some outdoor adventures.
  • The flat was spacious enough for 5 of us with room for more, the owners were very useful and a very short walk to the beach.

We’re offering the ground floor apartment of a beautiful traditional fisherman’s cottage, partly rebuilt and extended in 1890’s it retains much of the original stone work & beams along with a traditional open fire place. ( not currently in use with Airbnb ) Situated on Borth High Street we’re just 2 mins away from the beach! The space has 2 bedrooms ( and a spacious living room with a floor mattress ) and can sleep up to 6, with a king size bed, a double bed and a single bed. It has a lovely living room with bay window and a traditional old style farmhouse kitchen if you get bored of eating fish & chips ;). The kitchen is well equipped but not modernised .. so please do not expect a modern state of the art kitchen . It has handmade cupboards from reclaimed wood and painted open brick walls .
We’re lucky to have fantastic pubs in the village so try the Railway pub if you’re after a good laugh (that’s just 5 minutes’ walk away) or perhaps The Friendship, if you’re looking for something a bit quirky (that’s just 10mins walk away). • Great little cottage next to the sea

    Marian2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely apartment. Very cosy and pretty. Borth is gorgeous- we saw it in the wildest weather imaginable but you can't deny the dramatic beauty of the place! Sal is a fab host and the cottage is full of lovely touches.

    Cecilia2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • From start to finish, fantastic! Sal replied straight away, providing all the guidance for finding the cottage, getting in, the wi-fi code, and more. Very responsive to other messages too. Once there, guide book in the living room provides all the local attractions which was excellent. It was only myself and girlfriend though the cottage would easily accommodate a family. Immaculate place to stay with a cwtchy (look up 'cwtch' to know what I mean), cosy and warm feeling to it, enhanced by the homely-design touches in terms of furniture, ornaments and pictures etc. There's board games in there too :) All clean, neat, and I also like cooking which was easy as the kitchen has plenty of space to run around and fully equipped. I would recommended this cottage to others

    Paul2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay. The space is very cosy, clean and welcoming, a home from home. We highly recommend it and would definitely consider again if we're are in the area.

  • Lovely cottage, great free parking availability in November. Sal was a considerate host with quick responses. Very impressed.

    Alice2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Sal is a great host, her cottage has been modified but not so as you lose the character and it is in a wonderful location, close to the sea. She responds very quickly to enquiries and is very helpful. We would definitely go again.

  • Just got back from Michaels caravan at Brynowen. We had a lovely time. The caravan is set at the top of the park and offers fantastic views over Borth and the surrounding area. The caravan was better than we expected. It was spotlessly clean throughout and had everything we needed and more for a comfortable stay including very good WiFi, central heating, a TV with Netflix, a lovely hot shower and even a walk~in wardrobe! Linen was provided and we were also greeted with a nice bottle of complimentary red wine. Michael was the perfect host. He stayed in touch before and during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We will definitely be returning.

  • Great little caravan park with some great views. Caravan basic but clean . TV signal not the best and couldn’t connect to the free WiFi however this wasn’t too much of an issue as it encouraged my teenage son to communicate with me. Hosts. Very friendly.

  • The site is ideally situated for visiting all the attractions in the area. Our stay was very pleasant and the chalet was very comfortable. Be sure to bring your own towels, toiletries and kitchen supplies. Overall, the stay was good value for money.

  • This is a great value option for a few days in Borth. The cabin is spacious and beds are comfortable. The rain was fairly relentless when we were there but the cabin's a warm dry place to stay in and watch TV or a DVD. The kitchen is great for making your own meals too.

And if you dont fancy driving to aberystwyth you can catch the train from borth to go in either direction along the coast.
  • Thank you Jason and Lynne for a lovely stay in your wonderful modern caravan. Your hospitality was brilliant. Fresh milk was waiting for us and a lovely welcome card on arrival. The caravan was clean and fairly new with all the modern fittings. We will definitely choose to stay in your caravan again if we ever decide to come to Borth in the future. 5 stars for you. Regards Paul.

  • Stayed at Natalie's caravan for a week during the winter. Even in spite of poor weather we had a lovely time, thanks in part to how clean and comfortable this caravan is. Natalie was very helpful and responsive, and very patient when we couldn't work out the boiler. It was absolutely fantastic value for money and I can't recommend it enough. I can only imagine how great it would be in the summer.

This is a bright and sunny first floor room with a bay window and one other. It has a wardrobe and bedside cabinets plus a king size bed and a single which you could double up to use as a seating space if you prefer . Our house is a family home located in a quiet residential area about one mile from Aberystwyth town. Your room has a king size bed and a single bed and should you need it, we also have a travel cot which you can use. We have private off road parking and you can gladly use our living spaces and kitchen. Additionally, we have a bathroom, a shower room and a separate toilet. There is wi-fi running throughout the house As a family home, it comes fully equipped with all kitchen equipment We have lived here for about 15 years or so but are back and forth as we currently work in Cardiff so we may or may not be here during your stay. If we aren't available, please don't worry as we have family living locally who will help you with anything you need
It's really quiet here. It's got a shop and a chip shop within 100 yards but otherwise, it's residential apart from a secondary school which is just down the road. Traffic can get heavy at school time but it's quiet at all other times You can walk to Aberystwyth town within about 25 minutes - downhill - and if you're anything like me, 2 hours uphill. Alternatively, there are hourly buses or taxis which cost about £5 The Arts Centre is about a 10 minute walk away and the National Library of Wales is 15 minutes or so. Both are really lovely places with stunning views. Bluebell woods re also about 10 minutes away

The Grand Hotel seaview private apartment with views overlooking Cardigan Bay from the open plan living room, brand new kitchen and separate bedroom with a double bed. Excellent location for all amenities, water sports, Sea Fishing, Links Golf course, Animalarium, Lovely walks at the nearby Ynyslas National nature reserve, although you may not want to leave the apartments amazing views. Ideal for summer and winter breaks. 3 min walk to railway station and the bus stops right outside.
A great place for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers.
The Grand was originally a hotel so it has seen many guests throughout the years. I feel very blessed to stay in a place with such outstanding views. It is located on the high street of Borth, on the corner of Cambrian Terrace, ,which is where the entrance to the flat is. There is a newly opened Ice cream parlour and gift shop on the ground floor of the building. There is a Premier Family Store a couple of doors away on the high street and Nisa stores is through the village at the roundabout, where there is a cash point. There are a few really good cafes, restaurants and pubs and you can even get a roast dinner at Borth animalarium. There is a bakery, Art house and a very talented lady tattoist. A boutique cinema/ Libanus in a converted chapel is the latest addition within the small village of Borth.
  • Everything was as per the description and the pictures! We had a great time and cannot recommend Annemarie’s place and hospitality highly enough. Hope we will be able to come back again

    Jessica And Harsha2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Annemarie was a great host. Her apartment is a home from home from the amenities that were spot on....to the bedding that smelt so fresh and clean. I spent hours looking out at the stunning views of the bay... I can’t recommend the apartment enough if only to relax and clear your head. Thanks Annemarie for sharing your beautiful home :)

    Louise2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our 2nd stay here. Great apartment right on the coast. Apartment was clean and comfortable as ever! We love watching the sun set on the beach and retreating to the comfort of the apartment for the final moments. It's a great location and we're grateful to have stumbled upon this gem. Thank you once again Anne-Marie!

    Jared2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful views from the sit-in bay window. Well equipped kitchen. Home away from home feel. Very clean with special touches.

    Mary-Ann2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Would definitely recommend a stay here! Overlooks the beach, only a minute away from the train station and super close to the local shop. Check in was really easy, responses from Annemarie were always very quick and helpful! The apartment had lovely touches and was really cosy, would definitely stay here again! :)

    Rachel2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect find for a comfortable and stylish break. Sitting on the huge window seat watching the waves was a definite highlight. Super spot for easy access to the beach. Handy guide to the apartment was extremely useful as were tips for eating out and wet weather entertainment. It may have been 16 degrees and blowing a gale outside but we were more than happy in the comfort and warm of a beautiful ‘home’. Would definitely recommend.

    Annie2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great little flat, fab location and views. I swam in the sea outside the flat every day. V close to the station too. Recommended!

    Deborah2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • The flat is in a great location right on the sea front with the railway station round the corner. The rooms were all beautifully clean and well-equipped. Anne-Marie also provided basics such as oil, marmalade, butter and milk which was very thoughtful. Everything was arranged for our convenience and comfort. We'd recommend staying at Anne-Marie's without reservation and hope to visit again ourselves in the future.

I live in the sunny sea side village of Borth. I have only recently purchased the house and it had been neglected for many years. I have recently finished painting. There is still much to do. This is a new venture here, so I am grateful for or any feedback from guests. I am in work during the week and often out during the day on the weekends. I am happy to have as much or as little interaction with guests as they wish. I am vegetarian and would apriciate no meat in the house.
Borth is a lovely little sea side village. It has a blue flag beach, 2 small convinience shops, 3 pubs and a few cafes. One of the best in my opinion is Uncle Alberts, it has gluten free and vegan food, It is simply delicious! There are lots of walks near by and a long stretch of beautiful beach. It's only a few miles from the university town of Aberystwyth. There is a regular bus and train service here. I have only recently purchased the house and it had been neglected for many years. I have recently finished painting and decorating. There is still much to do. This is a new venture here, so I am grateful for or any feedback.
It's a quiet, relaxed and friendly neighbourhood. The Friendship pub, Tbe Victoria inn and The Railway have various evenings with music and food. There are sevral cafes, and as I mentioned previously my favourite is Uncle Alberts as it serves delicious food and has gluten free and vegan options.

We are situated on a working farm a mile from the beautiful seaside village of Aberdyfi in the Snowdonia National Park. Great location for cycling, running, walking or just plain and simply chilling to the sound of the sea, birds and sheep. Aberdyfi is a very beautiful but busy seaside village with 4 miles of sandy beach to enjoy. The caravan is definately in a location where the mountain meets the sea with nothing to obscure the view, and no wifi to distract, a great place to rest and escape.
We do not have wifi or mobile signal, a real escape from modern day life. Please note that we do NOT provide towels either. Beds will be made up ready for the number of guests booked. Dogs are welcome.
We are very fortunate to be in the most southerly point of the Snowdonia National Park with its amazing landscape, great walks, beautiful mountains including Cader Idris and the Arans are within easy reach, mountain bike centres including Coed y Brenin, ClimachX and Nant yr Arian are a short drive away. Aberdyfi's famous 18hole Golf Course is 3/4 of a mile away, you can in fact see it from the lounge window.
  • Amazing place ,fabulous view. The caravan was very clean. We found in caravan everything what we need. We wanted to come back in August, but it was already everything booked.... we love holidays in caravan and we are travelling a lot, and it is one of the best place to stay .

  • Comfortable caravan with a great view, and plenty of space inside and out; on a working farm, with a few other caravans round and about (though none was occupied when I stayed). I came for on my own for a mini-retreat, and it was perfect. Rhian and Tom couldn't have been more helpful. There was lots of local information in the van, too; I found a circular walk down to the village (for a delicious breakfast at the 'deli') via the amazing beach and back over the hill. Would definitely come back.

  • Thank you for our stay the house is in a great location and it was fantastic to have the beach just across the road. The village is in a great location for exploring the local area. The house had everything we needed (apart from a cafetière) And was very spacious even for 6 adults. It would have been great to have a grassed enclosed garden space but the views were amazing. Also communication with the host can be a little patchy.

    Luna2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house a stones throw from the beach. This was brilliant for us as we had a small baby and could just dunk him straight in the shower after being on the beach. Borth is very quiet and there isn’t TOO much to do if you don’t have a car but this was fine for us. You can get a direct train into Aberystwyth if you want more entertainment. We had a great time and made some lovely memories on our first family holiday.

  • Cannot express enough what a fantastic stay we had! The place was very clean and for a family of 5 plus two toddlers our grandkids .. there was just enough room and yet cosy! Loved the fact that there was no WiFi! We managed to play cards both nights ! All the cooking utensils were there and we made some organic welsh steak from the local butchery , which was simply amazing! The views are fantastic and worth the long 5hr trek we made from our home! The host was so accommodating and switched on the heating and lights , as we arrived at midnight ! so we put the toddlers straight in their warm beds with fresh white linen! It was raining the first day , however we visited CAT and it was brilliant ! The host were so helpful and friendly allowed us to stay until 12pm the next day !! So we wouldn’t rush to check out! Of Course we forgot items , that the host then said would post to our home address! Cannot fault Welsh hospitality that we experienced at this farm ! Tom the husband was so very friendly and we really wanted to book another night! But somebody else beat us to it! We have found our Welsh home away from home!loved the trip!! Thank you to the super hosts!!

Borth is a perfect location to explore all of Wales and the location of the caravan itself is litterally less than a minute from the shop and clubhouse. The caravan has everything you need and Trudy was a great host and couldn't do enough for us during our stay. We will definitly be staying here again. We recommend Trudy's caravan and Trudy's hospitality.

Hatter's Cottage is on a small-holding right in the heart of the beautiful Dyfi Valley. Close to the beach at Borth and the estuary at Ynyslas where 'Hinterland' was filmed. There's walking, cycling, fishing, birdwatching too at RSPB Ynyshir - and you can help feed the chickens, ducks and goats. We're a one mile walk to the nearest local pub, five minutes by car to the sea, with views of the glorious Dyfi valley from the back garden - which transforms into a bluebell wood in Spring.
IMPORTANT - this is a two bedroom cottage with beds for four people, but we do provide put-u-up beds for another two people - as a family of six we know how expensive and difficult it can be to find accommodation... And we do like to be accommodating. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - PETS - we do welcome well behaved dogs too, but please contact us before booking. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Hatter's Cottage is part of Goitre Fach a 14 acre small-holding on the edge of Cors Fochno, world famous for its wildlife and nature. We've a small herd of Golden Guernsey goats, chickens, ducks and some resident sheep. Goitre Fach - little wooded place in English - is just that, with loads of space for kids to play in, make dens and try their luck at catching slow worms and grass snakes. The variety of wildlife is surprising, from pipistrel bats to Tawny owls, Red kite and woodpecker. Look out for the rare rosy marsh moth and equally scarce bog orchids. Amazing nature on your front doorstep. The cottage itself is a new-build replacement on the site of the original cattle byre. It's clean, warm and modern, but still has character. Space is used as effectively as possible to make your stay comfortable an cosy. Downstairs is a through lounge, dining area, kitchen, whilst upstairs there are two bedrooms, a large mezzanine with a king size bed and a smaller one with two singles. There is a put u up bed which will fit in either bedroom and a pop-up cot.
Goitre Fach is a 14 acre small-holding on the edge of Cors Fochno, (URL HIDDEN) a UNESCO Biosphere reserve, the only one in Wales and world famous for its wildlife and nature. We've a small herd of Golden Guernsey goats, a motley collection of chickens, ducks and guinea fowl and a handful of sheep. There's plenty of room for kids to play in a 2 acre 'wild-wood' - and yes they do seem to enjoy feeding the animals as well! We're a mile from the local pub and a 5 minute drive to Borth beach and the Ynyslas estuary. Machynlleth and the Centre for Alternative Technology are 10 miles away, and the Dyfi Osprey Project and RSPB's Ynyshir nature reserve are just 5 miles away. Aberystwyth, with a lively Arts Centre, countless cafes and bars, the National Library of Wales, a very short pier and a very long promenade is 8 miles and there is a sporadic bus service from the end of the road. HISTORY - Hatter's Cottage has been re-built on the site of an old hat-makers cottage. You know those traditional black Welsh lady's hats, they were the main industry for our little hamlet back in the 1840s. The new style had just come in and almost all the iconic hats - as well as the miner's helmets - were made here and in Tregaron. Why? Local people had turbury rites to the peat on the bog, it gave them free fuel which was needed to steam mould the woollen felt, from local fleeces, into shape. Then they were shipped off to the closes silver mining town of Tre Taliesin, a mile and half away, and sold on across the rest of Wales.
  • A lovely quite bohemian place, a very accommodating laid back host. Excellent location for beach.

    Lesley2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay and explore Mid Wales, many attractions around, especially CAT ! Close to the Snowdonia National Park. If you want, one day you can spend on the beach and another climbing on the mountain. Beautiful forests around. I think everyone can find something to do here. The house itself is charming, only terrace is in the front, next to the small closed road, but I was worried to let children play without my supervision. Inside clean and cosy. Guy is a nice host with a great sense of humour;) He was really helpful. Diolch!

    Anna2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • A warm welcome and lots of information if wanted about the local area awaits. The location gives easy access by car to many good spots to visit and even in the summer holidays nowhere was overcrowded. Aberystwyth is a nice city to explore and Machynlleth has a bit of an ‘alternative vibe’ and interesting shops etc... The scenery around the estuary locations is wonderful. We had a week of mixed weather but enjoyed doing things nearby ‘whatever the weather’.

    Judy2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our 5 day stay at Guy's place. He was friendly, helpful, and only next door if we had any issues (which we didn't). As mentioned by other guests, Hatter's Cottage was clean and spacious. Set not too far down a private lane, and with car parking, it made a great base for us to visit many local attractions, and for walks. We really enjoyed visits by ducks and chickens - who all roam 'free range'! Lovely walks locally, as well as the wonderful Borth and Ynyslas beaches not far away. Further afield, Aberystwyth (to the south) and Machynlleth (to the north) are always worth a visit. Machynlleth's local street market is on a Wednesday. If you feel adventurous, Aberystwyth is a 5 mile coastal walk from Borth. The cottage was a lovely place to relax and get a little closer to nature.

There are loads of interesting things to do in the area and it really is a beautiful part of Wales. Guy is a great host who made us all feel very welcome. The kids enjoyed feeding the chickens and goats! Highly recommended.

  • 2 adults, 1 child and 1 toddler stay and couldn't fault it. Used as a base to visit relatives in the area and upon arrival place was spotless with heating turned on in anticipation as it was a cold evening and we didn't arrive until close to midnight. With a toddler it was nice to see baby cutlery, high chair and cot available for us. For the cost you'll be hard pressed to find anything better in the area. Will definitely be back.

  • Richard was a welcoming and thoughtful host. He greeted us in person and answered any questions. He provided milk, juice, yogurt, bread, tea, etc. The washer and dryer worked well. The beds were comfortable . The water temperature in the showers was good. There is a steep slope from the parking space to the entrance and a gently sloped ramp to the entrance of this ground floor apartment. Richard even helped us carry our luggage when we arrived and left.

  • A superb stay in a lovely property, Richard was extremely helpful and friendly. A few nice little touches like the fresh fruit, yogurt etc make this one of the best places we’ve stayed!! Thanks Richard 👍🏻

This characterful cottage has lots of lovely features. I particularly like the fire places which are in every room. The space is light and airy and best of all very conveniently located not only to the town but also to fantastic walks.
The house is clean, light and newly decorated with new fitted kitchen and bathroom but what is particularly great about the house is it's convenient location. It is within easy walking distance to the town and especially close to the university and arts centre. Although it is situated on a road evenings and weekends are relatively quiet here and it is really easy to access the local beauty spots.
Aberystwyth is an extremely beautiful and friendly town surrounded by stunning scenery and of course the sea. There is a rich arts scene here with not only the arts centre (which is 10 mins walk from the house) but other venues offering music, dance, exhibitions, poetry nights, film nights, storytelling events, theatrical performances, talks and workshops etc etc. There are some great restaurants including my favourite for Indian The Light of Asia. The woods around the town our wonderful with many old trees and thick carpets of bluebells in the early summer and the coastal walks are just stunning with views around the whole of Cardigan bay. You can see Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula from here and on a good day, Bardsay Island and we are in easy reach of Ynyslas beach, huge sand dunes and panoramic estuary and sea views. You can also visit Ynys Hir nature reserve, location of Spring watch for several years running or the market town of Machynlleth which is home of the Centre of Alternative Technology. We are also within reach of the Snowdonia National Park,

  • I had never stayed in an Airbnb with the host on site.Milly is a welcoming and kind host and made the experience a great one. The home is located on the bus route if heading north which was a very nice bonus for me. Good Coffee cozy room and lovely host.

  • Lovely cosy home and equally lovely homely decor reflecting an obviously lovely person... So inspiring want to change my own decor now.. Good communication with host and clear instructions ( Milly was away whilst I stayed but gave comprehensive instructions and advised knocking on neighbour if any problems ( which there weren't) Location was nice (about half hours walk down to Aberystwyth Town /beach.. Coming back up not for the unfit/ fainthearted though as its a steep incline!! Found it beneficial myself.. good training for my hike up Mount Teide end of the month 😊 Not sure of parking situation in town if people preferred to drive it.. Overall a lovely time in Waun Fawr and Aberystwyth itself ( albeit a part working weekend 😊) Thanks again Milly

  • Milly is a kind, thoughtful and generous host and ensures that your stay is comfortable. The cottage is slightly away from town but only minutes by car and the room itself is cosy with everything you need.

  • Milly's home, a place with many little details and decorated with love. The room was spacious and there were no unfulfilled wishes. I had a wonderful chat with her and her partner, enjoyed the time and am very grateful for the warm hospitality.
