Lake
“Lake Mead is a lake on the Colorado River, about 24 mi (39 km) from the Las Vegas Strip, southeast of the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, in the states of Nevada and Arizona. It is the largest reservoir in the United States in terms of water capacity. Formed by the Hoover Dam, the reservoir serves water to the states of Arizona, California, and Nevada, providing sustenance to nearly 20 million people and large areas of farmland. Nine main access points to the lake are available. On the west are three roads from the Las Vegas metropolitan area. Access from the northwest from I-15 is through the Valley of Fire State Park and the Moapa River Indian Reservation to the Overton Arm of the lake.”

Café

“This is a must go to if you have a vehicle.... The Coffee Cup was featured on DINERS, DRIVE-INs & DIVES. This amazing diner is a busy spot, to avoid a long wait to get seated, I recommend getting there earlier rather than later. The Coffee Cup is surrounded by awesome little antique shops and a hop, skip and a jump away from the historic Hoover Dam. ”

Trail
“This is a great, easy walk/hike/bike/stroller trail. It leads you through a series of historic railroad tunnels, and eventually ends at Hoover Dam. In summer months, I don't advise hiking in the desert after 8 AM or before 5 PM. Bring lots of water!”

“I love the Athenian here, and my husband loves the French Dip, but mostly everything here is great. We don't drink, but hear good things about the wine selection. It's a great place to spend the evening, especially if you want to get a feel for a local spot. ”
