FOC ACCOMMODATION FOR COVID19 FIRST RESPONDERS Boutique, dog friendly, luxury cottage. Nestled in the heart of glorious Devon. with views over a rich, verdant wooded valley. The Cider Barn has been lovingly restored and is now a luxurious holiday home (chosen for Airbnb Plus).
Step into the Barn and you'll feel your worries and cares slip away as your holiday begins. This is a gentle space where calm colours and subtle French influences abound… from the luxurious linens to the antique beds. LIVING Laze on sumptuous velvet sofas around the enormous OKA coffee table or while away an hour or two reading, curled deep amongst the linen cushions on the day bed… The double height living area is fabulously expansive at 44’ yet with subtly lime-washed oak floors and beams, together with considered lighting; it delivers warm, intimate spaces. The eco-friendly ethanol ‘log burner’ (that “hooray” requires no cleaning) and rich scented candles add to the feeling of relaxation and retreat. Summer or winter it is possible to create your own little bit of Danish Hygge here in the heart of Devon. Enjoy the sight of world-class dressage horses as they are led out to graze in the paddocks beyond. And on the subject of the four-legged… we haven’t forgotten that man’s best friend also loves to take time out and snooze so there’s an enormous and deliciously comfortable dog bed (the design has been fully tried and tested by our 4 very discerning terriers). The Cider Barn may be in deepest, unspoilt Devon but it enjoys super fast 4G-boosted WIFI, a Beats Pill, DAB radio, Amazon Alexa, Freeview TV and DVD players (together with a wide selection of films). However, if you prefer a more analogue approach to your holiday entertainment there’s an extensive choice of books, board games and some amazing birdlife. As the sun starts to set you may even catch sight of the wild deer in the fields or a hare or two. KITCHEN & DINING The Cider Barn has a bespoke, hand built kitchen with the darkest of grey slate work surfaces set against Farrow & Ball’s delicious Purbeck Stone. There’s a large six-hob range cooker, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, Nespresso, Dyson Animal etc. The kitchen has a rather cool, concrete resin breakfast table, which overlooks the ménage where the neighbouring talented Baronswood Equestrian team break-in the young dressage horses. A separate and more formal dining area for long, relaxing dinners lies just beyond and this seats 6. SLEEPING The Cider Barn, rather uniquely, has direct garden access from both the ground and first floors (it’s built into the valley hillside). Two serene and individually designed bedrooms await on the lower floor… The spacious master has a gorgeous and wonderfully comfortable, king-size bed with pure linen throw and a vintage French sofa. A large double window opens out onto views of a sunken courtyard. There’s an en suite wet room with rain shower and complimentary Molton Brown toiletries. The second bedroom has two finely upholstered antique, single French beds, Gustavian bedside table, hand painted wardrobe and doors leading out into The Cider Barn’s very pretty cottage garden. It’s a lovely place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee and have a peek to see if the water lilies are thinking about coming out for the day. There’s a family bathroom with a sumptuous, freestanding bath fantastic for soaking after a day walking on Dartmoor or for the children to play in a mountain of bubbles. If there’s more than four of you, the Loaf day bed in the living space converts to a double or two singles in the blink of an eye. OIL FIRED HOT TUB Indulging in the uber-trendy Swedish wood-fired steel hot tub is an absolute must. Bathe under the stars with a glass of fizz and the gentle crackle of a Birch log fire. This hot tub uses no chemicals and does not tick over using electricity… so its great for you, the environment (and for our hydrangeas who benefit from the water). OUTDOOR SPACE The Cider Barn has a sweet cottage garden with ornamental pond, hot tub and bistro seating. There’s also a second alfresco dining area in the a former walled orchard (that is a work in progress returning to former status. There's sun loungers, large dining table, kettle BBQ, fire pit and a gas fired Ooni Koda pizza oven. Timeless, rural Devon... deeply rural, winding lanes and a great place to explore. The Cider Barn is set between the ancient villages of Zeal Monachorum and North Tawton and is part of the historic Baronswood Manor darting back to 1492. While you may not want to leave the splendid rural isolation of The Cider Barn, it is superbly positioned for exploring both Devon and North Cornwall. It truly is a place where you can stick a pin in a map and ask… “where shall we go today?” The gateway to Dartmoor… Okehampton, lies just 8 miles away. The renowned jewel of the National Park, Chagford, with its gastro pubs and boutiques, is around 20 minutes away through some idyllic lanes (it’s a great place to enjoy lunch if you’ve visited the National Trust’s Castle Drogo). Head east to visit RHS Rhosemoor or the timeless charm of Clovelly or gems like Woolacombe or Croyde on the North Devon coast. If you’ve crossed Dartmoor National Park don’t miss out on the ultra-fashionable Salcombe, seeing the yachts at Dartmouth or perhaps pick up some antiques in the charming town of Ashburton. Exeter is a fabulous Roman city well worth a visit if only to enjoy lunch overlooking the Cathedral green. The Cider Barn is well positioned for memorable days out into Cornwall to Bude and NT Sandymouth (55 mins), Lanhydrock House (55 mins), Boscastle or Tintagel (60 mins), Port Issac (75 mins), Eden Project (75 mins), Padstow (90 mins).
  • An amazing place with everything that anyone could wish for. Such a romantic setting, gorgeous scenery, and thoughtful touches by our host Louise. We can’t wait to come back again.

  • A stunning retreat in Devon! Very stylish and comfortable with touches that made it feel like a home. Louise was great at communicating with us up to and throughout the stay. Would highly recommend!

  • What can I say about the Cider Barn apart from.... WOW, OMG, outstanding and Air BnB gold!! We stayed for my 40th and everything was amazing and Louise was the most attentive and thoughtful Host. There were gifts for the kids (colouring sets and chocs) some bubbles for us and even a birthday cake!! This was better than any five star hotel we’ve stayed in around the world and if you want a truly magical stay in an amazing quiet location then you HAVE to book here.

  • The Cider Barn is a gorgeous hideaway in rural Devon. We came for a weekend of relaxation, and mission accomplished! It was the perfect place to be sheltered from Storm Dennis, very cozy and warm. This place had everything we needed, plus so many thoughtful touches, and we felt right at home. The interior design of the Cider Barn is top notch. Our dog loved the dog paddock where he played and ran around freely and safely. A great bonus if you have a pup with you. Louise was an excellent host, super friendly and helpful. We’d definitely stay at The Cider Barn again!

    Jess2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Cider Barn is exceptionally brilliant and Louise is a top, top host who will go the extra mile to make sure you have a great stay. We hope to return again soon :)

    James2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay and everything exceeded expectations. A beautiful barn, the pictures don’t do it justice. It is clear a lot of time and thought goes into each stay. The prefect get away in a remote location.

  • We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Cider Barn for my mums late birthday present. The barn is beautifully decorated and has sooooo many homely touches. Wellies... Slippers... bath salts... a freezer full of food... afternoon tea and much more. Clearly so much thought has gone into every aspect of the barn. Louise was an amazing host throughout and made sure the wood fire tub was ready whenever we asked. Watching the stars from the tub surrounded by fairy lights and candles was incredible. A real treat in rural Devon. Thankyou!!

    Samii2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • 5*!!!!!!!!! I cannot begin to explain how incredible our stay at the barn was. Louise did her upmost to make our stay as comfortable as possible.. we decided to take a last minute trip to Devon from London, I finished work late and that meant that I did not arrive until 3:30am. Louise woke up & showed us to the barn which was such a kind gesture from her. The barn itself was amazing, it was 10/10 and there was nothing I could fault. Louise added small touches such as a sign saying welcome on the front door which warmed my heart. The hot tub and the candles were beautiful extra’s. My stay was great and I would be back in a heartbeat if I didn’t live so far. I will definitely be visiting again in the summer. Thank you Louise, for being a TOP host!

Our barn is well situated between London and Cornwall, and is on the cycle route from Land's End to John o' Groats. We offer peaceful, simple accommodation, in a converted barn. The decor is simple, eclectic and stylish, possibly shabby chic. The building is spacious yet intimate , with a comfortable bed, cosy sofa, and a wood burner. The barn is completely separate from the main house where we live, by about 30m. Although we are mostly here, the barn feels very secluded.
The building is open plan with a separate kitchen and shower room. Downstairs is spacious, with two sofas, wood-burner and a large table. There are a lot of books lining the walls! There is also a large collection of DVDs for evenings by the fire. Please note, the TV only works as a screen for the DVD player. There is an HDMI cable for you to attach a laptop of your own. The main double bed is on the loft-style mezzanine, reached by a small wooden staircase. There is limited head-space a the edges, due to the sloping ceilings and large beams. Although the barn is ideal for 2 people, it can accommodate up to 3 extra people, if you are happy being in such an open space room. There is a single futon upstairs in the main room, and one of the sofas downstairs can become a double bed. The building is heated with a wood-burning stove; there are always plenty of logs, and it will be ready to light when the weather is cold. We will help to work it if you are unfamiliar with stoves! While respecting your privacy and peace, we are always happy if you need to ask us for anything, walk directions, wood-burner tips etc.
Our barn is a good base if you have come to visit friends or have things to do nearby, or just want to relax. The walking immediately around us is rather flat, but Dartmoor is only a twenty minute drive away, and the North Devon and Cornwall coast path is less than an hour away by car. We have quite a good selection of circular walking books. Also the Tarka cycling trail can be picked up at Meeth. This takes you along the disused railway track all the way up to the coast at Bideford. You can hire bikes if you pick up the trail at Torrrington. There is a very nice café en route called Yard Orchard, which offers delicious and generous home-made food.
  • This is the perfect hideaway. We loved our night away at The Hideaway and would definitely come back. The space is so characterful and cozy. We loved snuggling on the sofas reading books and watching movies infront of the fire before waking up in the morning to the birds singing. Bliss. The kitchen has everything you need, the bed was comfortable and the shower was lovely and warm in the morning. Even though it is in the countryside it is still very easy to find thanks to France's instructions.

    Daniel2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little cottage with welcoming log fire and personal book and film collection making it the perfect place to get away from it all and relax. Really enjoy our night away with the rain on the windows and the fire on. Thank you so much!

  • A really beautiful barn conversion - tastefully done up, cosy and exactly what you’d want from a stay in the countryside. The surrounding area is beautiful and Frances is a warm, friendly, accommodating and helpful host. Can’t recommend enough.

    Murat2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding. Much bigger than photos look but still very cost and quaint. Wood burner is lovely. Kitchen facilities great with tea, coffee, oil and seasoning supplied. The bed was very comfortable and warm and we had a very relaxing weekend. Lots of books and DVDs to entertain yourself with. Frances and her husband went above and beyond to help us and make sure we had a good weekend, as well as responding immediately to messages. We have already started planning our return.

Set in the heart of rural Devon, our artisan crafted oak barn provides a glorious self-contained first floor apartment. It is the perfect escape for those wishing to enjoy the tranquility of the rolling Devon hills. A stones throw away from Dartmoor and conveniently situated to explore both the north and south coasts. Also with easy access to the A30 for Exeter, Okehampton and onward travel.
The Barn, with its vaulted ceiling and huge gable window, makes it a wonderful bright open plan space. The barn also features a second bedroom, with a bunk bed and a cot. There is a small electric oven/hob and a dining space for four. The barn has a large separate bathroom with walk in shower. In the main open plan area there is a king sized bed with Egyptian cotton bedding and a comfortable lounge area with sofa, free-view television. There is a little cosy second bedroom, great for kids, featuring bunk beds and room for a cot. Free wifi and central heating throughout. A welcome breakfast selection is provided for the first night consisting of cereals, muesli and granola, as well as teas, coffee, milk and sugar.
Very close to Dartmoor, the barn is also convenient for exploring both coasts. In nearby Spreyton is the Tom Cobley, an award-winning pub, plus a great community shop selling local produce. The picture postcard village of Coleford is close by too.
  • Such a beautiful place to stay and Ilona was very welcoming and helpful. The Barn had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Great for country walks and our boys loved exploring and climbing on the tractor!!

  • We had a beautiful stay in the barn. Location is pretty rural so just have to be prepared to travel 20-30 mins to get to places. The interior and barn its self is stunning. LLona was very welcoming, slight trouble with power on the Monday (emergency power cuts which left us with no power from 9- 4:30pm) unfortunate but out of their hands. Overall it was a great trip and a highly recommended place to visit for a relaxing weekend away. Thanks Llona!

  • This is a great sized open plan Barn, ideal for a family of 4. Very nicely finished, the undercover parking is also very useful when you have to unload your car and its raining!

    Justin2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful space with an abundance of wood. Very relaxing and peaceful.

    Ben2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • IIona’s barn is really lovely - it’s been beautifully renovated and it’s very stylish. We stayed in November and the barn was really nice and warm and the bed was really comfy. There was a proper cot for our baby which was nice rather than a travel cot. The barn is in quite a remote location which is lovely if you’re after silence but if you’re planning on staying in make sure you have all the food you need before getting there as the nearest shop was a 20 min round trip down some country lanes.

    Lara2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Annexe is lovely: very well put together, beautifully clean, very comfortable bed and well kitted out kitchen. Gwyneth was a helpful and kind host. The location is great for anyone, like we were, walking the Two Moors Way as the annexe is almost immediately on the path and was a welcome warm, clean and comfortable rest spot.

    Edward2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay.

    Jonathan2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • A beautifully finished annexe that’s extremely comfortable, very stylish and well equipped. We only stayed one night, for which it was ideal, but it would be equally great for a longer stay. Gwyneth welcomed us, showed us where everything was and made a helpful recommendation for a pub dinner locally and also a superb recommendation for breakfast. It’s an idyllic spot and if we need to be in the area again we wouldn’t hesitate to return.

    Joanna2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Annexe is a truly wonderful space. It is roomy, well equipped, beautifully decorated and furnished. Gwyneth and Andrew are delightful hosts and really make you feel at home. The area is stunning with lots of lovely walks nearby. A great place to get away from it all and relax.

The Linhay is a cosy, thatched cottage for two set on an idyllic smallholding in rural mid-Devon. It has been a Sawdays "Special Place"and was listed by the Daily Telegraph as one of "Britain's 10 coolest B&Bs". There are rocking chairs, a log burner, a spiral staircase leading to the mezzanine bedroom, a (vinyl) record player and a private balcony for al-fresco dining. Home-made bread awaits your arrival, and a cooked breakfast is included. Delicious home made suppers are available on request.
The Linhay is a cosy, detached cottage, ideal for a romantic weekend for two. It is private and self contained and, although there are no cooking facilities, it does include a kitchen area equipped for making tea, coffee and toast as well as a (silent) small fridge. There are two rocking chairs in front of a woodburning stove and a vinyl record player with eclectic selection of music. We provide logs for the woodburner and plenty of additional heating. There's a modern shower room and, up a narrow spiral staircase to a mezzanine, there is a double bed tucked under the eaves.
The Linhay is set in quiet and peaceful rural mid-Devon down a farm track with no near neighbours. It is a short drive from great walking on Dartmoor or Exmoor and the North Devon coast is an hour away. The cathedral (and university) city of Exeter is easily accessible.
  • A lovely property for a relaxing stay. We were here for a wedding but would definitely stay again just for a relaxing weekend. The cottage is beautiful, but the stay is made by the hosts Holly and Andrei. They are incredible and genuinely can’t do enough for you. Highly recommended.

    Lee2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our wonderfull and romantic stay and we spontaneously fell in love with the beautiful cottage and surroundings. Holly and Andrei are lovely hosts.

    Marit2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to chill for a couple of nights. Definitely purchase the home-cooked salmon and dark chocolate mousse. The fresh bread is the best I’ve ever tasted! If you like a glass of wine with a book (and animals) you’ll love this venue!

    Amanda2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The Linhay is a truly unique, stylish and special holiday cottage. The hosts, Holly and Andrei couldn't be more helpful and friendly, they make the perfect hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed the tastiest of cooked breakfasts each morning and the best belly pork supper we have ever had, both from their own free range and so well cared for rare breed pigs. We would highly recommend The Linhay, a superb rural retreat!

    Julie2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for an amazing mini-moon! We were looking for a bolt hole to escape for a few days and that’s exactly what we got! Holly and Andre were perfect hosts, picking us up from Copplestone and returning us there on check-out (although we walked there each other time - 20 mins) and the breakfast was amazing! We also had supper on the second night and we can’t stop talking about the pork belly! We are an active couple so walked (most of the way) to Lapford one evening before hopping on a train for the last bit, had an excellent meal at the Old Moat Scoop and the landlady dropped us home. We then did another big walk across the moors from Scorhill to Kestor Rock and back through Gidleigh as well as a rainy visit to Hound Tor. A perfect stay in a perfect location!

    Annette2019-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place away from it all with a tasty breakfast (and dinner too).

    Robin2019-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • The Linhay is a really magical retreat, we loved it so much we were tempted to spend our whole trip in the cottage enjoying the cosy wood burner and views! Lovely space for a glass of wine on the balcony overlooking the farm, and our hosts included lots of special extra touches including fresh bread and apple juice and really great breakfast. Close to Exeter for day trips. We will be back.

    Joanne2019-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • After a short but adventurous drive down a narrow country track, that would appear to lead nowhere, you happen across a relaxing idle and a warm welcome. The thatched cottage is a very well done, relaxing space. A small kitchen area, deck and lounge seating area, with a bedroom space in the mezzanine above. Though the garden wander chickens and ducks, with very friendly sheep and pigs in the fields beyond. The fresh air, open space and welcoming hosts and animals encouraging an atmosphere of calm relaxation. This place is ‘a find’, a bolt hole, an escape; and one to which we shall return if only to once again spend a late night, sat upon the deck, enjoying the staggeringly large and beautiful, star filled sky.

    Stuart2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to stay to explore the area. Paul made us welcome without being overbearing, and knowing he was available if anything was needed made us feel very comfortable. The cottage is comfortable and spacious, and accurately described. It was easy to find, and although we really only treated the place as a bedroom, the 3/4 mile walk to the local hostelry was worth the effort on the couple of occasions we did so. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and heartily recommend this property.

    Eric2019-09-05T00:00:00Z

Amy was available to help us when we first arrived and was very welcoming. Marc was kind enough to show us around the brewery and talk to us about some of the history of the house, which in itself is fascinating. We bought beer to take back home with us as it has a truly unique source. We would highly recommend a stay at Meadow Cottage, we feel very lucky to Have managed to get a booking. Gemma and Ivan

The Barn is part of an historic farmstead. It was built from cob and stone in the 18th century and sits in a peaceful valley, a lovely place to get away from it all and enjoy the glorious Devon country side. It is on the edge of Dartmoor and next to the Two Moors Way. The pretty village of Drewsteignton is a couple of miles away with its historic pub The Drewe Arms and excellent restaurant, The Old Inn. The National Trust's Castle Drogo and estate is half a mile beyond the village.
I am an interior designer with an interest in historic buildings and The Barn used to be my studio. Two years ago we decided to convert The Barn to a holiday cottage. We have had a wonderful time creating the space and have tried to keep the alterations to a minimum so that it still sits happily with the other surrounding cob buildings. We used local traditional materials, cob, stone and lime plaster to create a light and airy space with contemporary fixtures and fittings including underfloor heating.
Tranquil and off the beaten track but only 3 miles from the A30 to Cornwall and 12 miles from the beautiful cathedral town of Exeter
  • Jill is one of the best hosts, very thoughtful and her place is outstanding!

  • Such a beautiful spot! Even before entering The Barn, you can see that you’re in for a treat. The grounds that the barn is on are stunning- so quiet you can hear the creek at the bottom of the hill babbling along. The barn itself is styled perfectly, with such lovely homey touches. Comfy bed and wonderful amenities. And Jill and Mike are wonderful and friendly hosts. Hope to get back there one day soon! Loved our stay- thanks so much :)

  • We could not have wished for a better, more beautiful place to stay. Ideally located to the wedding venue we were attending that weekend. A cozy retreat thanks to the underfloor heating and the tranquil surroundings aided a great night's kip. Jill, thank you for being a magnificent host, we loved the freshly baked banana bread too. Delish!! Hope to be back again in the Summer months next year.

A tranquil one bed self-catering holiday cottage in peaceful rural Mid-Devon, close to Lapford & Crediton. Offering easy access to Devon's beautiful countryside, towns and coastlines, including Exeter City, historical landmarks, craft centres, amazing walks. Wild Dartmoor can be seen from our local lanes with other stunning views from footpaths. We aim to provide you with a high standard of home-from-home living. Now with new shower room with pumped shower. We look forward to welcoming you.
Enfield House Holiday cottage is located in the scenic rural hamlet of Nymet Rowland in Mid-Devon. Its geographic position gives exceptional and easy access via A377 to the Cathedral city of Exeter and its many cultural and shopping possibilities, with easy reach coastlines just a 15 minute drive on. Or, head in the opposite direction to the amazing long sandy beaches of North Devon. Giving you the option to explore two very different but equally beautiful coastlines. RHS Rosemoor, wild and stunning Dartmoor, and various National Trust/ Heritage sites are all located close by. Our cottage has numerous leaflet and maps to help you explore. Our self-catering holiday cottage has its own parking area, steps up to the front porch and secure double-glazed front door. The well-equipped kitchen-diner downstairs has a washing machine, dishwasher, built in cooker, extractor and under counter fridge and freezer, smoked glass table with four chairs, cupboards, shelves, boot rack and coat hooks; with plenty of space left for luggage and shopping. Totally practical for every eventuality of self-catering, yet carpeted dining area and colour changing ceiling light makes for intimate dining. Upstairs the airy carpeted bedroom has a memory foam mattress on a king size bed, insulated curtain to allow you to sleep in, bedside drawers with lamps (also fairy lights in a glass vase), double wardrobe, handy chair and a full-length mirror. Next door the newly revamped fully tiled shower room has a venetian blind, slide door 1mtr shower with booster pump shower (shower has main head and hand held spray), 55cm basin, toilet and charger outlet. At the end of the landing is the super cosy snug. A friendly room located at the back of the property, it overlooks the garden and fields. It has a large well sprung two-seater sofa decorated with plump cushions, an armchair and matching footstall and wooden cupboard on which there is a smart TV (suitable for streaming). Inside the cupboard you’ll find a DVD player (will take blue ray) with a few DVD’s for an assortment of easy reading books. As well as the main ceiling light there are two modern led lamps at each end of the sofa and fairy lights draped over the tree branch, hopefully giving you viewing, reading and romantic lighting. Outside your holiday cottage has easy access grassed area and a private patio that catches the sun during the summer, with bistro table and chairs plus two sun loungers (if there not out please ask). The area has a well planted hedge between the holiday cottage patio and owners garden, with a low trellis fence around the other secluded sides so you don’t lose the remarkable views of the garden, pond, fields and wildlife. During the day you will see a variety of different birds, maybe a shy snake and cheeky squirrels. By night you will hear owls and see bats, larger nocturnal animals do wander the gardens but are harder to catch sight of. Clouds permitting the stars are stunning we never tire of looking up. If you walk the local lanes you may see the dairy herd, sheep, horses, cats from the local farm and possibly a fox or deer. We do recommend bringing some sturdy boots if you wish to follow the many footpaths across the local fields (the views are stunning) or walk in the nearby woods and forests; they’re also quite useful if you plan to visit Dartmoor or Clovelly with its hard-cobbled streets that descend to the seafront. The lane walk to the local Spa shop is approximately 1.1 miles. Recommended places of interest to visit and various festivals can be found on our holiday cottage website at enfield-house-holiday-cottage-devon.uk The Boring Stuff – Enfield House Holiday Cottage has its own liability insurance up to £5’000’000.00. It complies with a fire risk assessment and has two fire extinguishers – one on each level, a fire blanket by the stove, recommended fire detectors for kitchen and hallway areas, and since there is only one entrance/ exit door a portable escape ladder stored in the bedroom. We also have a 2018 Health and Safety risk assessment to ensure good practice.

  • Claire's place is very comfortable and very clean. It has all the facilities you need and is in such a quiet and peaceful area. Claire (and Gordon) are lovely people and very helpful, if you need anything. A stay with them is highly recommended if you want to get away from it all but still be within reach of Devon's countryside, coasts and towns.

Nestled in the rolling Devon hills this 16th century thatched farmhouse has bundles of character. Escape the pressures of modern life in a rural setting, perfectly positioned on the Two Moors Way. 2.5 miles away is the pretty village of Drewsteignton with the delightful, thatched Drewe Arms pub, shop and The Old Inn, restaurant. Just beyond is Castle Drogo (National Trust) with far reaching views over Dartmoor. The estate offers spectacular walks along the River Teign and its wooded valley.
The space is part of the old farm house but has its own entrance. There is a cosy private sitting/dining room with wood burner, comfy chairs and lots of books to read. The bedroom is accessed by a separate staircase from the sitting/dining room and has a large four poster bed and pretty en suit bathroom. There are tea/coffee making facilities in the room and we serve a full English breakfast in the morning.
Cheriton Bishop & Drewsteignton are both 2.5 miles away. There are excellent pubs:- The Drewe Arms, Drewsteignton, The Old Thatch, Cheriton Bishop and the Fingle Bridge Inn beside the lovely River Teign. The National Trust's Castle Drogo and beautiful estate walks are nearby.
  • As it happened, we didn’t end up sleeping at Jill’s!! (A sick baby called us away from our night away...) but we can say that Jill is a fantastic host, and the room/bathroom is beautifully kept, spacious and private. She generously offered to take us to the wedding we were attending even though it wasn’t local- so kind. We’d highly recommend staying there, even though we didn’t ACTUALLY stay there!

    Lorraine2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jill was simply a super host, very welcoming. The farm house dates back to the 16th century and is an absolute gem. Really well located, with plenty to explore in the area (fingle bridge). The room (en suite) was quite spacious and the bed extremely comfy. Jill gave us a tour of the farm, and also showed us the newly converted barn - an absolute must 'stay in' when we're next in Devon. Can't praise enough, anyone and everyone will love this place and the hosts.

    Joao2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here last week on our way down to Cornwall and so were very glad to return to Jill and Mike’s glorious home on our way back. It’s a magical setting (think rolling hills & swooping swallows) and a beautiful 16thC building, with the comforts of a very sleep-friendly bed, powerful shower and delicious breakfast. (And not forgetting Biddy and Joe their small friendly dogs!) Do ask about the local pubs and places to walk as Jill and Mike have lived there many years and can give you some insider tips. We’d happily return to this beautiful home, and also quite tempted by The Barn, a recently converted self-catering space opposite the main house.

    Sandra2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jill’s home and surroundings are so beautiful, even better than the photos. Fabulous bedroom and en suite and delicious breakfast. Friendly dogs and even met Jill’s sheep. Swallows flitting above and nesting in the various eaves in the thatch and adjacent farm buildings. We loved it. Highly recommended and Jill is a great host. Luckily we’re coming back next week after a week in Cornwall :)

    Sandra2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • very spacious and stylish room/space. great location, communication and super friendly host. excellent breakfast too!

    James2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful long weekend stay with Jill on her farm cottage. She was above and beyond a welcoming, warm, and helpful host, serving up delicious breakfasts and giving us lots of local tips and recommendations. Jill's husband and dogs are very friendly too. It was such a relaxing and cosy stay with a comfortable 4 poster bed, spacious room and private en-suite and dining area. The cottage and farm is beautiful (have a wander in the gardens if you get the chance) and very well situated to drive to the local towns, Dartmoor, and Exeter. We wouldn't hesitate to come stay with her again if we're in Devon in the future.

    Nick2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jill and Mike made me feel extremely welcome from the moment I arrived. The guesthouse is in a beautiful location and equipped with everything you could ask for. Jill kindly drove me to a wedding I was attending at a nearby venue, and prepared an excellent breakfast the following morning. Can highly recommend a stay at West Ford Farm!

The Dream Shed is situated in the charming village of Morchard Bishop on the Two Moors Way. It offers a spacious en-suite bedroom with a private multi-function lounge that caters for 2-4 guests. It has a special atmosphere in which you can lose yourself in a book, rest and recuperate or plan the next stage of your life in comfortable & cosy surroundings. You don't even have to cook because we don't allow that. We just provide the coffee & tea making facilities. Read below for catering options.
The Dream Shed is situated in the charming village of Morchard Bishop on the Two Moors Way. Overlooking the longest thatched terrace in England you can view the majesty of Exmoor on a sunny day. Alternatively, you can view the expanse and grandeur of Dartmoor from St Mary's churchyard in the village. This 15th Century church contains a medieval screen made from oak and the church tower notably survived being hit by a meteorite in 1952! Exeter city centre is a 15-minute drive beyond our market town of Crediton, which is 6 miles away. This award winning market is located in Crediton town square on alternating Saturdays. Accolades include best farmer's market in both Devon and the South West. Exeter and Crediton can be reached by our local bus service on a daily basis. Morchard Bishop is picturesque, peaceful and pleasing on the eye; a place where you can lose all sense of reality. And, relaxing in rural Mid-Devon is really popular, as it provides a great base from which to explore all the delights of Devon. Two coastlines, two Moors, two National Parks, rural landscapes, market towns and the historic cathedral city of Exeter all compete well for your attention. So, returning to the sanctuary of the Dream Shed becomes even more desirable. It really is a great place to escape to. You don't even have to cook because we don't allow that. We just provide the coffee & tea making facilities. Of course, each day you can get fresh pastries, croissants, pasties and all manner of food from the village shop to take away or eat on their premises, as we don't have kitchen facilities. You can find them on the internet under church street stores to confirm seasonal produce and opening times. Alternatively, you can eat out at the very reasonably priced London Inn. We have provided a sample of their menu with prices in the pictures. It is an extremely popular venue and tables are often reserved at weekends. If you are considering this option, then we would advise you to book ahead. If you're in need of a good night’s sleep then just lie back and drift off on our king size posturepedic mattress. The London Inn and the village shop (church street stores) are both within 50 metres of the Dream Shed. If you are booking as a couple and would like to sleep in separate beds, then we can accommodate your preference. Simply book for 3 adults. Finally, we hope you read our house rules before making a reservation. Thanks, and we look forward to meeting you in due course.
Morchard Bishop is a rural location and therefore you will find many country pursuits taking place. The village offers more than 40 public footpaths and opens its door for the flower festival and open gardens on an alternating and biennial basis. The annual fete and vintage car & tractor rally takes place during the first weekend in August. The village also has the longest thatched terrace in England and the London Inn is renowned for providing true value for money cuisine. The portion sizes are legendary! Visitors can also view and interact with cows, sheep and alpacas in the local area. Additionally, the village church has a band of bell ringers who operate in the Parish each Sunday and they have won numerous regional bell ringing trophies...

  • Jane is a friendly and accommodating host, very thoughtful and kind such as greeting us with tea and cake, and bringing us plates for the picnic dinner we'd bought from a supermarket. The bedroom is spacious, light and very comfortable - lovely and warm on a cold Autumn night. The lounge/dining room was also large and comfortable, with everything we needed to spend a pleasant evening. The bathroom is sparkling with a powerful shower (and even a bath). And the location is great, rural and peaceful with beautiful views. All in all it was perfect!

  • This property is great for a family stay. It is close to local amenities easy to find (Jean provides excellent directions) and very comfortable. We stayed during some rotten weather but the house was warm and cosy. It is well stocked with all the kitchenware you will need and the welcome with fresh scones, jam and clotted cream really was fab. I would recommend it to everyone.

  • Accommodation was just as pictured and spotlessly clean. Very comfortable and perfect for our needs. Jean was very welcoming and provision of cream tea ingredients and other basics (tea, coffee, milk etc) was much appreciated after a long drive

  • This is a stunning place to stay - such a beautiful and unusual building with a fascinating history and great views. Love that both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. Things to note when choosing who has each bedroom - the one at the front is smaller but has the sunny side and the best views, the one at the back is more spacious and has the firmer bed. Good arrangements for hanging up clothes. Open plan kitchen/living/dining room works well, and we could look at the garden and a field with sheep as we ate. Generally we were comfortable and Jean and Martin made us very welcome but also left us our privacy. The house is close to Dartmoor and we fitted in a couple of good walks as well as meeting up with friends and family nearby during our 4 night July stay.

  • We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful place. Jean made the process of checking in so easy and simple. The scenes inarrival were so welcoming and delicious. The building is so interesting and I had the best night sleep! I could go on and on about how much we loved it here. We would definitely come back.

  • The caravan looks better than the pictures shown on A&B. The house was very clean and we loved our stay. It's just about an hour away by drive from other towns. Chris was very helpful and he never bothered us. We felt like we were home. Lovely atmosphere in the golf course. When you get there follow Credition A377 sign to find the place. We made a mistake and got stuck in the country side lanes. In the end Chris helped us out over the phone by instructing about how to get there😊. I would definitely recommend this accomadation.
