“When having opened Menza, we wanted to create a place where you can enjoy a traditional Pest style dining experience with a grand café-restaurant quality service. With our name and interior we salute the beloved retro era. Come and enjoy a perfect coffee on our terrace and taste delicious Hungarian dishes.”

“I recommend this café for it's historical past and unique , beautiful design. Multiple famous hungarian authors wrote their best selling novels and poems like The Paul Street Boys. It's located between Erzsébet avenue and Dohány streer, It's about 100 m away from the Pretty Good Flat of Downtown.”

“Mazel Tov is an open hearted cultural space in the city's center, a streamlined and comforting place focusing on gastronomy in the 7th district, in the middle of the historically Jewish quarter, today's downtown's night-life center. This urban, recreational, dog-friendly garden laden with planted herbs and trees is transformed into a garden party location in the evenings. We wish to establish an informal, casual atmosphere, an easily digestible urban meeting point, which transforms into one of the most intimate and greenest arbors at dusk, every day of the week.”

“The mile-long Király Street is flourishing and buzzing with activity. This street is of historical significance and is perpendicular to Kazinczy Street. It's also one of the entrances to the passage known as Gozsdu Udvar, which feels like an entirely separate hub of the city. In addition to the shops, hostels, restaurants, bars, bistros, and teahouses, the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music also help to shape the street's cultural character. In the winter months, Király Street is defined by the Christmas lights and the smell of roasted chestnuts. From spring, it's the territory of tourists and locals in search of fun spots for a day or night out.”

“What is it? An award-winning restaurant with a wine list longer than your table. Why go? József Bock is the man behind the wine list here. His ancestors have been making wine for nine generations in the Villány region of Hungary. (Since the 18th century!) More than two-dozen of the family’s wines are on the menu at this little gem in District 7 – as well as other vintages. Food wise the joint keeps it old school too, with a menu of traditional Hungarian dishes and classic local flavours. Think steak, beef tartare ‘sandwiches’ and cucumber salads. Make sure to pre-book, you’re unlikely to get a table otherwise.”

“I have just re-visited this earlier local favourite. Frici papa kifőzdéje has become a statement in the past few years - and for my biggest surprise it has been packed with tourists last week when I popped in for a quick Hungarian lunch. It's quick and tasty with typical Hungarian dishes which brings back childhood memories - and it deifintely has a local feel. I first discovered it when I moved to the area 20 years ago - but back then it was visited mostly by residents in the area. Lots has changed - but not the good food and the efficient service. No need to book, just turn up and they will find you a table to sit.”
