“Hayes has a definite Irish vibe, with delicious fresh beer. Musicians often play, and there also might be a food truck outside. Hayes is within 3 blocks of the cottage. Walk there for something on tap, and be sure to bring the growler we have for guests to use. Get a fill up without the cost of a deposit for the glass jug. ”

“Norms has Detroit style pizza, as well as steaks, burgers and sandwiches. Live music is a weekend feature. You'll have to drive to get there, but it is less than 10 minutes away. It can be quite busy and quite noisy, so know this ahead of time.”

“Breakfast at J's is the place to get your morning eggs and bacon. Or maybe apple fritter bread French toast is more to your liking. Located two blocks from the cottage, and definitely an affordable spot for breakfasts.”

“The Loaf and Ladle is two blocks from the cottage. Their sandwiches will spoil you forever, as will many of their award-winning home made soups. The gingersnap cookies, their brownies and the date bars are must try snacks. Order your lunch to go and take it with you when exploring the lake. There is something truly memorable about enjoying a picnic on the middle of a lake!”

“Within walking distance, BJ's pasta salads, sandwiches and soups are all home made. The salad bar is abundant and, together with a glass of wine, enjoyed on the patio, makes for a great way to enjoy lunch. Be sure to have a slice of their delicious rhubarb pie! Or, stop by for coffee and a homemade caramel roll for breakfast.”

“If you like sushi, this is your go-to spot. If you like seafood, their scallop hibachi might be the deal of the century. Although the ambiance is a little "cafeteria," their Japanese fare is really good and worth the trip. Get take-out and enjoy yours at the cottage, along the waterfront. ”
