Burgess Hill Holiday Rentals

Just booked in Burgess Hill

Our timber clad garden pod is up-market glamping, with a view to the Downs. Close to Brighton and a walk across fields to the village. On sunny days, open up the folding sliding doors and enjoy a drink on the decking.
The pod is just over an hour from London and 20 minutes or so from Brighton. At the end of the garden of our Sussex farmhouse, the view is through the trees and towards the Downs. The pod has a comfortable double bed, sofa, table and chairs. There's a shower room and a small kitchen area, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle. (The hot water is from a small tank, so showers need to be speedy.) For heat, there's a wood-burning stove and a basic electric heater. It's just a few minutes walk across fields to the village of Hurstpierpoint, with several pubs and places to eat. You will have your own key and can come and go as you like. The pod uses the same driveway as the main house, with plenty of room for parking. The house is approached down a rutted farm track, so best not to bring a low slung car! Although there's no fencing between the pod area and the farmhouse garden, directly in front of the pod there's its own area of lawn and a magnolia tree, with a stream beyond. There's also easy access to a footpath to the village across a bridge in the garden. If you have a dog who can be trusted without fences, then he or she is welcome. We have a friendly black labrador called Monty. Tim, Pippa and family are very happy to help with any queries about the pod or beyond. Monty the labrador will almost certainly bring an old shoe to welcome you. We are close to the Downs National Park, as well as having Brighton 20 minutes away. So if you want to walk and visit the village, then it's easy. But it's equally easy to pop into Brighton for sea air or shopping. We are located close to the A23. The nearest station is Hassocks, which is 10/15 minutes by cab. This is the Brighton line to London Bridge/ Victoria. Gatwick airport is 30 minutes by car. There is a limited bus service to Brighton from the top of the track (10 minute walk to the bus stop from the pod). There's also cycle hire at the station in Hassocks: (URL HIDDEN) The pod has its quirks. Squirrels sometimes like to frolic on the flat roof and if it rains heavily with the wind in the wrong direction, you might get a bit of rain down the chimney. Of course, we think that the good quirks outweigh the imperfections. You will find eggs from our hens on the sideboard and a bowl of fruit when you arrive. Plus the ingredients for tea and coffee. The double bed will be made up and there will be clean towels. There is a sofabed in the pod which could be used to accommodate a young family if you don't mind being a bit cosy. We charge £10 extra per night for an extra person to cover costs of making up the sofa bed. If you have a baby or small person(s) they can go free.
We are close to the Downs National Park, as well as having Brighton 20 minutes away. So if you want to walk and visit the village, then it's easy. But it's equally easy to pop into Brighton for sea air or shopping.
  • Pippa was a wonderful and very welcoming hostess, who went out of her way to make sure that we were happy and comfortable. The pod lived up to the listing and our expectations - it is small, but very comfortable, with everything we needed, and it is set in beautiful surroundings.

  • I loved the pod, its a really beautiful space, and perfect being self contained but equipped with everything i needed. Pippa was very welcoming and helpful and i enjoyed my little visits from monty the dog. I found the space really inspiring with all the books, so can highly recommend it for anyone wanted some time out to be creative. The weather was a bit wild one night, but the pod is really solid, and warms up really quickly with the burner, so i was snug and toasty. Thank you pippa and family, im hoping to come back some time.

  • We had a lovely stay in Hurstpierpoint and would thoroughly recommend a stay here. The setting is idyllic and the pod is just right. We would love to stay again.

  • Our stay at the pod was brilliant. Set in a very quiet village, we had a lovely couple of days wandering the fields and visiting the pubs in Hurstpierpoint. A short taxi ride to Hassocks station meant we could train to Brighton in 20 minutes and spend the day at the seaside. If you're looking for a quiet weekend away, this is the place. Pippa's direction to the pod were also a great help. We would have had trouble finding it if not as it's so tucked away!

    Nikki2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Privacy respected. A little difficult to find at first. 15 minutes walk from the village. Bed comfy. Charming. Good place to stay to visit Sussex. Negative: Could here the highwAy. Would definitely come back and recommend.

  • Had a lovely stay in the pod, very cosy and relaxing. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a weekend getaway!

  • What a great place. The pics almost don't do it justice. If you are looking for comfy quirkiness then this is your place. Pip is also a gem and very helpful.

  • Good place for a few of nights.

    Raj2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay a lot in this beautiful, unique house. Sarah was always there to help us and to give advise. Her self made guidebook is the most elaborate we have ever seen. She really made an effort to make us feel at home. Every morning the breakfast was laid out. She cooked for us, for a small fee, which was lovely. Brighton is only a 10 minute drive away, so a good location. We had everything we needed and we would stay here again.

    Anne-Fleur 2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and Antony's home is the exact right balance of style, elegance and quirky oldness. We were made to feel really at home and cannot overstate how brilliant Sarah was in all her communications and the home's welcome. I would highly recommend this place and would love to visit longer. The village too has much to recommend it and I personally could not stay away from the Deli every day.

  • Kerry has a wonderful house. Always kept clean in a quiet lovely neighbourhood. The family is very easy going and welcoming. I felt at home the moment I entered. Every morning I was spoiled with a wide range of breakfast items. Ranging from bacon and eggs to fruit, cereal and a range of pastrys. The room itself is very comfortable with a separate bathroom upstairs only for my personal use. Kerry made me feel part of the family offering regular delicious dinners followed by movies and desserts. Overall I had a very pleasant stay and 100% recommend it to anyone thinking on staying.

  • My stay at Jaynes home was really lovely and I felt at home straight away. The room was perfect in every way. Comfy bed, wardrobe space, TV and lots of little touches that make a weary traveller feel very welcome. The central location made it perfect for a walk to the wine bar I was going to a party at. A cheeky glass or 2 of prossecco with my lovely hosts before I went to the party was a great!! Will definately recommend this to my friends. Close to Brighton but gorgeous village location and very considerate hosts! Highly recommend this B and B. Hope I can stay again!

    Diana2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place to stay. A warm welcome, large south facing room away from the main road, a comfortable bed, nice bathroom, and a good breakfast. And there were one or two little extras in the room which were gratefully devoured. I have no hesitation in recommending it to other travellers to this attractive village and surrounding countryside.

    Tom2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • The location is ideal for getting around the village, and the house was absolutely lovely! There was also great communication from Jayne throughout.

    Ruth2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jayne and Sally were very welcoming and helped us navigate around the area. They provided everything we needed for a restful stay. The new local chippy was really good but beware, it's busy. The surrounding countryside was perfect for a walk and both the area and house were very peaceful.

    Thomas2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful find and the photos do not do it justice. Spotlessly clean, with every little thing catered for, from flapjacks to fluffy towels and robes. Easy check in, welcoming hosts and a relaxing stay in a beautiful village. Would thoroughly recommend and we shall definitely stay again. Thank you Sally and Jayne. Xx

  • I can only echo my fellow travelers thoughts...Sally & Jaynes home is beautifully furnished, totally in keeping with it's architecture and absolutely spotless. The room and photos are EXACTLY how things really are and there are a lot of very nice little touches like a robe, nice tea & coffee and delicious little cakes! I will be staying again later this week and hope to be a more regular visitor.

Bohemian and full of character, Le Grande Roulotte does not compromise on comfort. Family bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet. Kitchenette with induction hob, fridge and microwave. Full sized double bed and two single day beds. Outdoor area.
Le Grande Roulotte is bohemian and full of character. We have included a well equipped family bathroom (with a shower, sink and toilet), a kitchenette (with small refrigerator, induction hob and microwave), a full sized double bed and two single day beds making this a real family holiday home. An Oak table with stools pulls out to provide an eating space for 4 people. There is storage under the beds for clothes and suitcases and a hanging clothes rail is in the cupboard under the TV. Built from sustainable timber with energy efficient materials such as sheep's wool insulation (floor, walls, roof) and A rated windows, the Roulotte is warm even in the winter months. A heated towel rail and an electric wood burner provide the main source of heating.
There’s so much to do and see in the area, from walking, cycling or horse riding along the South Downs Way, exploring the Sussex Heritage Coast, visiting sleepy villages and historic market towns, to experiencing opera at the world famous Glyndebourne. We are about a mile away from the South Downs Way and the famous Jack and Jill Windmills. The friendly village of Hassocks is a 15 minute walk away and offers excellent facilities including a selection of shops, a supermarket and several restaurants, pubs and cafes. Then cosmopolitan seaside city of Brighton & Hove is only 7 miles away and easily accessible by train from Hassocks mainline station, only a 12 minute walk away.
  • My partner and I had a wonderful time in the roulotte. Paul had the place cosy and warm when we arrived, and welcomed us with a loaf of (delicious) homemade bread. The caravan is exceptionally well located -- it is a 10 minute walk from Hassocks train station, Sainsburys, and an excellent pub (the Jack and Jill). It's set back from the road by a copse of trees that keeps out the wind. We slept exceptionally well in the cosy bed. Devil's Dyke is about a 10-mile round trip from the caravan -- though be warned that the hiking was exceptionally muddy. We also made a trip over to Ditchling Arts + Crafts Museum (about 3 miles), which is certainly worth a trip. All in all the trip was wonderful. The caravan was cosy, welcoming, and wonderful with all sorts of adventures and delicious food nearby. Could not recommend it more!

  • Great caravan. I felt very comfortable there on my own. Nice and (URL HIDDEN) pretty and functional. ..would love to stay there again x

    Jackie2017-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was easily available and answered all our questions. He made us feel very welcome and at home. The Roulotte is charming, comfortable and well outfitted.

  • A great experience to stay at the Gypsy Caravan. We enjoyed our stay so much. Beautiful accomodation and a very friendly host, we will return one day !

    Stefan2015-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a great space! We had a really nice few days, I booked it as a surprise for my fiancé and she was really impressed. Perfectly positioned to make the most of walks in the countryside and South Downs, but also then a great train connection into Brighton and the sea front

    Adam2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Paul greeted us on arrival and showed us the Roulotte. He told us about surrounding amenities and helped us to plan our trip for the following day.

    Lecia2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Paul's lovely caravan. Our 12 year-old daughter loved the place. Lots of greens, sitting outside, walking to the village. Really convenient to access to London by train. Also short drive to the coast line. We really recommend you to stay at Paul's caravan. You can experience country life, city life and beach holiday all at once !

    Miki2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • The few nights we had in Paul's renovated gypsy caravan was the perfect end to our trip. It was nice and cosy, quiet and had lots of pretty countryside surrounding it, for which Paul gave us some maps for different walks. The walk up Wolstonbury hill, as well as the view from the top, was amazing. Paul was also kind enough to come to meet us upon our arrival, and brought with him a loaf of bread he'd just baked which was delicious. Everything in the Roulotte worked perfectly. Thanks Paul for a great stay.

  • I had a fabulous experience at Christianne's place. We arrived by car and it was easy to find at the end of Church Lane (which was absolutely picturesque!). We had a warm welcome and Christianne ensured we had everything we needed. The flat looks just like the photos and is incredibly clean and has a practical set up. The kitchen is small but mighty and Christianne had left us a fabulous selection of nibbles for breakfast. We only stayed one night but for those looking for a bit of a longer stay, this kitchen is very practical. There is a separate w/c and the shower was extra large and luxurious. The studio was set up so we had a spot to dine, relax and sleep which was perfect. The piece de resistance was the INCREDIBLE view out the back of the studio. You have an unrestricted view of the South Downs at the end of their beautiful backyard. The only challenge is we didn't have enough time to enjoy some of the many country walks that start from their front door! Christianne was just lovely as was her home. I look forward to coming back again and spending more time exploring the beautiful countryside!

    Jeri2016-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for 3 nights to visit Brighton, and it really was a beautiful place to stay, it has everything you need, it's comfortable, clean and quiet. Christianne is an amazing host and is on hand if you need her but respects your privacy, she very kindly provided a generous selection of breakfast food which was much appreciated we would highly recommend this little gem you defiantly won't be disappointed.

  • We had the pleasure to stay at that very nice place. Very comfortable and cosy. Nice location, quiet but still very central.

    Uwe2017-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Christianne's - all was just as described. It was good to have the basics in so we could have as much or as little breakfast as we wanted in our own time. We had plenty of privacy and a lovely view of the garden and the downs beyond. Some gorgeous bluebell woods a few minutes walk away and plenty of places to explore with some interesting villages nearby. Recommended!

Can't speak highly enough of the studio apartment with all you could want for your stay (ours included breakfast stuff like cereals, eggs, ham, cheese, bread, crumpets, fruit and yoghurt.) Would definitely stay if in the area again.

Ditchling is a lovely place and your cosy and comfortable flat was perfect for our peaceful little break. Thank you Pam for being so hospitable. And for the very sweet welcome note. :) The flat was very well equipped with absolutely everything one could need for a home away from home. Should the opportunity arise we would definitely return for our next break. Thank you! Halima & Surman Xx

  • We have a truly wonderful time when we stayed at Karen and Charlie's apartment. They were most welcoming, leaving milk and pastries for us on arrival. The apartment itself is clean, warm and well equipped and in a great location. The village of Ditchling is lovely and there are lots of really good walks nearby. We hope to come back again.

  • Cosy and in a lovely setting/location. You can walk into the village for a relaxing lunch and wander. Not far from Brighton. For us it was much better than staying in a hotel, with home comforts and space. Kind of Karen and Charlie to have provided milk, which I had forgotten, plus pains au chocolate. We mistimed our arrival but Charlie was very accommodating. Thank you both.

    Rosie2016-03-13T00:00:00Z

We were able to store our bikes outside with no worries and cycle around the south downs. The hosts answered all our questions and made our stay as easy as possible and were always contactable. I cant recommend this place more!

  • Delightful studio apartment in a beautiful part of the South Downs. Karen and Charlie were lovely hosts and very flexible. The studio was well-equipped and had a lovely ambiance. I would highly recommend their apartment.

    Samantha2015-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and Charlie are wonderfully welcoming hosts and the apartment is simply fantastic. If you're looking for the essence of peace and tranquility as more commonly found in Keatsian poetry, then this is the place for you.

  • Couldn't have asked for anything more from this stay. The hosts' communication before our arrival was excellent, and they helped with a special request in regards to a DVD player which was much appreciated. The studio is really, really lovely. Clean, cosy, and warm. Thanks so much for providing us with such a lovely base for the weekend.

Our chic & cosy pad is located in chocolate-box pretty Cuckfield, with pubs, restaurants, gorgeous boutiques, Michelin Starred Dining and an award winning spa all within walking distance. The Annex is completely self contained and well appointed, with a romantic king size sleigh bed, wetroom with Monsoon shower and an open plan kitchen, living and dining room, all accessed via a private entrance. Close to Brighton, Gatwick, many National Trust properties and the South Downs National Park.
Finished to a very high standard, with beautiful and quirky fixtures and fittings, The Annex is like your very own private mini-boutique hotel in an excellent location.
Cuckfield is just gorgeous, a historic and beautiful village, nestled at the edge of the South Downs National Park, so great walking and cycling territory! There are many National Trust properties and sites nearby including Nyman's, Sheffield Park and Garden, Wakehurst and the National Seed Bank, Bateman's, Monk's House, Standen House, Petworth, Bodiam Castle, Devil's Dyke, Birling Gap and Seven Sisters. English Heritage sites Pevensey Castle, Battle Abbey and Boxgrove Priory are also easy day trips. The village itself is well appointed with pubs, restaurants and boutiques, as well as Michelin Starred dining at Ockenden Manor and an award winning spa. We have an outstanding pub a 5 minute walk away and a brilliant local store, Co-Op and garage literally 2 minutes away. The other village amenities are only a 10 minute walk. There is a mainline train station at Haywards Heath, a 5 minute drive away. There are direct trains to London and Brighton. Haywards Heath has most of the large high street shops and restaurant chains etc such as Cote, Zizzi, Cafe Rouge etc. Next to the station there is a large Waitrose with a kitchen, cafe and wine bar, what more could one want?!
  • Well equipped and comfortable annexe. Quiet neighbourhood and charming hosts.

  • The Annex is a lovely place to stay - very clean, Madeleine is a very personable and efficient host and she has put in place lots of nice small touches (bread, milk, butter and chocolate biscuits on arrival!) which make for a lovely stay. Would definitely recommend.

    Kate2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed in the Annexe over August bank holiday weekend, and we will definitely be going back again in the future! The Annexe is such a lovely space, and Madeleine was a wonderful host, making sure we had everything we needed and offering advice on things to do. As we were lucky enough to have such gorgeous weather, we ventured out to Borde Hill gardens, which was a short 5 minute drive from the Annexe. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and there's a lovely little tea shop on site, would definitely recommend if it's a sunny day! We'd also booked onto an Afternoon Tea and Wine Tasting day at Bolney Wine Estate, which is definitely worth doing if you enjoy a glass or two of wine! The wine was so lovely, and hearing how it's made and exploring the vineyard was really interesting! This was also only about 10 minutes in a taxi from the Annexe too, which meant we were able to enjoy a bottle of wine at the Vineyard after the tour had finished! We had looked at the House Manual before our stay and booked a couple of places for dinner, The Talbot and Spice Village. Both were walking distance from the Annexe, into the village of Cuckfield, which is so sweet and quirky (I've actually decided I want to move there in the future!) The Talbot is a beautiful pub/restaurant, which served incredibly food. The staff were really friendly, and even made us cocktails that weren't on the menu! On Sunday night we popped in there for a few drinks again, and a band were playing which was really enjoyable! Spice Village was also incredible, really fast service and the most delicious food for a great price! It's so tasty and popular that a couple next to us had ordered for them to cater their party! Due to the lovely weather we also went to Brighton for the day, which was a half hour drive from Cuckfield with a little bit of traffic! I've never been to Brighton before but I definitely want to go back again, mainly because I want to win a Sloth toy on the arcade machine!! Overall an extremely lovely weekend, and I'll be return to the Annexe in the future without a doubt. Thanks so much Madeleine for a wonderful time!

  • A great host, very helpful with suggestions for local area and adding a personal touch. A lovely private annexe in a quiet location with nice pubs, restaurants and walks close by as well as local shops and a spa. Mady was very attentive to the little details making a great weekend. Thanks again!

    Chris2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a couple of nights in July. The annex itself is lovely, completed to a high standard, which makes it feel like you're staying in a fancy hotel. Madeleine left eggs, bread and other bits and pieces in the kitchen for us to use, which was great for a late breakfast. The bathroom has a great shower, and the bed is comfortable.

    Madeline2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in this flat! It's done so beautifully and Madeline had really thought about what we might need and so sweetly left things out for us like toys, a high chair and a cot for our little boy. All the small touches were especially lovely - like an honesty box for the drinks bar, eggs and bread to help yourself to and top tips from Madeline for where to go for dinner or get a good quality takeaway! Would definitely stay again.

    Philly2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • A modern flat in a charming village close to Brighton and must-see scenic spots. The host was great, she had thought of everything, from the 'self serve bar' to the community guide with recommendations she passed to us a few weeks in advance of our trip. My wife and I recommend the flat and the host. -Tom

  • Mady was great, the accommodation was exactly what I needed. Her two girls are very sweet and were very intrigued by my visit. The room is better than the photos do justice. Honesty box was a nice touch. Would recommend to anyone. A*

One bedroom self contained flat in a newly built barn on a smallholding in the grounds of a grade 2 listed cottage just outside the picturesque village of Ditchling. We are within the boundaries of the South Downs National Park ideal for walkers and cyclists.
The property consists of a double bed, lounge with open plan kitchen. There is a futon which can be converted to sleep an extra two people in the property. Separate bathroom with walk in shower.
Ditchling is a small village with two good local pubs, The Bull and The White Horse. There is a Post office, chemist, gift shop, jewellery shop and a specialist small food store. Hassocks is close by with a variety of shops and bigger supermarkets can be found at Burgess Hill. We are close to Lewes, Brighton, Plumpton, and Glyndebourne. London can be reached via train in under an hour with nearby stations at Hassocks, Burgess Hill and a little further away at Haywards Heath.
  • Our host welcomed us as we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed! The barn and property were beautiful and just what we needed. The complimentary eggs from the hens outside were delicious!

    Sarah2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely accommodation, the host was amazing with communication at all times. Location is stunning and the property and surrounding areas are so lovely. Such a nice touch to leave fresh eggs from the chickens. We'd highly recommend this property and hope to visit again one day.

  • This place was outstanding. Clean and roomy. Local bridal paths were nice for running and the local village had two nice pubs with food. It was a short drive to Brighton Beach and to Gatwick Airport.

    Robert2016-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We have enjoyed our short stay in this lovely rural location. The barn is spacious, has a very comfy bed and a well equipped kitchen. Everything you need is there for a comfortable stay. During our stay the nights were frosty but the accommodation is nice and warm. We had nice and quick email communication with the owner who provided us with a clear route description. The property was easy to find, also in the dark. On arrival we found a nice and warm barn with coffee and tea present as well as fresh eggs from the owner's hens and a bottle of milk. Thank you very much for taking good care of us!

  • Lovely, spacious accommodation for four people. High spec appliances and everything you need for a short stay! We were welcomed with eggs from the farm and loved the beautiful surroundings! My boyfriend was doing the Brighton marathon and it was the perfect place to stay. The hosts were on hand at all times and made us feel very welcome. Thank you very much.

    Ken2017-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was very pleasant and relaxing, the beds were extremely comfortable and the location was lovely and quiet. We were left a lovely treat of freshly laid eggs for breakfast and a folder with all the information we would need for our stay was very useful, we tried the local pub that was recommended called The White Hart and the food was lovely and well priced!

  • Jason's place is very centrally located although my Sat Nav did mis-direct me a little. Not his fault of course! A quick phone call and a a wave later and all was fixed! His flat looks brand new and is a very modern design. It is also spotless and he put's my own tidiness at home to shame! He is a very friendly and chatty person and easy to talk to. The room was also extremely comfortable and I had a great nights sleep. I will be back again later this week in fact!

This is a wonderful converted Old village Post Office , decorated to the highest standard with a beautiful spacious bedroom and bathroom, a lovely south facing lounge/kitchenette. Ground floor with a patio to the front.(not secluded or fenced faces South onto Road ) Fast wi-fi. Very close to Brighton and Universities. Opposite a lovely local pub with restaurant and next to the Village Church.
This is a lovely ground floor apartment with South Facing patio to the front. It has a really large bedroom with en-suite bathroom (big new bath) and walk in shower, all very new and modern. The bedroom has a superking size bed with lovely white crispy linen, the bed can be split into 2 single beds if preferred. The lounge is spacious and light with wonderful huge south facing window seat. A very modern kitchenette with breakfast bar. It feels very light and airy! There is wi if and an Internet TV
The property is in a Conservation area in Keymer Village between Ditchling and Hassocks (With its Main Line Railway Station ) ,close to the foot of The South Downs. Brighton is very close ( 8 mins by train)as Gatwick is 20 minutes -Ditchling Village is a walk away, with its various cafes and country pubs. Also close to Sussex and Brighton Universities. The other great thing - no fees for parking . You have the benefit of being in a beautiful village but close to the City of Brighton too as well as Lewes and Glynebourne. The window seat in the lounge is lovely and warm - facing South onto the street, you can watch the world go by ( there is still the working post box outside) as you relax in the Sun.
  • Good host, clear communication, clean tidy place

  • Very convenient place for driving around South Downs to visit beautiful villages. The train station at Hassocks is a bonus and gets you into Brighton in about 10 minutes. Although the property is on a busy road the bedroom is quiet being at the back of the property with an ensuite bathroom including a bath and shower. I would thoroughly recommend making this your base for a few days.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at The Old Post Office. Michelle made us feel very welcome with some great tips on places to visit. The area is really beautiful good for walking and a short train ride into Brighton

  • We had a great time at The Old Post Office; there's everything you need in the flat and its a short walk from Ditchling which has lovely pubs. Michelle was very helpful and friendly which made the stay all the more enjoyable. Thank you!

    Jemima2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The (converted) Post Office was a really neat place to stay. It's right in the village of Keymer and very close to shops and grocery stores. The village pub across the road serves excellent food and were more than willing for us to park our car there during our stay. The amenities at the Post Office were great. Everything you need for an overnight or for longer term. We stayed 3 nights, but would have stayed longer if we could.

    Valerie2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the Old Post Office for a wedding in nearby Ditchling. The apartment was perfect for our short stay with our baby - plenty of room, a lovely big bed, and a gorgeous location. Thanks Michelle for being a welcoming host

    Rhiannon2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication from Michelle, who is a really friendly host. She provided a useful file about how the apartment works, as well as board games, maps, etc. The apartment is lovely and light and spotlessly clean. Glimpses of the South Downs from the terrace at the front - magic! Thanks Michelle, and Happy New Year.

    Caroline2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • The appartment is a perfect base for walking and cycling in the Southdowns. It's a ten minutes walk to shops and the trainstation (with direct acces to London and Brighton), so if you don't want to ride your car, you can do a lot of activities just by foot or public transport. The apartment was very clean and resembled the pictures of the website. Communication was fast and clear. And Michelle was very attent with additional info during our stay. As a family of three the appartment was fine, but the space is more convenient for two. We would definitily want to come back one day.

We have a comfortable, clean, one bedroom cottage at the back of our garden ready and waiting for your arrival! This cottage has it's own entrance, one bedroom with double bed, separate bathroom with shower, and living room with decent Ikea sofa bed for up to two more guests. It also has a simple kitchenette for your breakfast (juice, hot chocolate, coffee, tea, toast, cereal, croissants etc all provided). There is no hob or oven but you can heat up your croissants in a convection / microwave oven provided. Our village has it's own train station which is an easy 10 mins walk from the cottage. This train line takes you straight to London (1 hour's journey) where you can enjoy all that the big smoke has to offer. Alternatively the train can also take you in the opposite direction to Lewes (10 mins journey). This medieval town has incredible magnetism and is a must for any visitor. Plenty of shops and restaurants, a wonderful castle to see, as well as Anne of Cleves House - a parting gift from Henry VIII! Train or drive to Brighton (20 mins journey); a bustling city on the coast with plenty for the kids to see and do. And of course our own Plumpton Green, where there are some fabulous surrounding gastro pubs that are still kid friendly, great walks and plenty of cyclists. (website hidden)_East_Sussex_England.html (website hidden)
  • The cottage is just as described, very clean and tidy. We were all heading to a wedding just up the road and it made a great base for the weekend. The breakfast things being left out on arrival is a really nice touch.

  • This is a lovely cottage, very comfortable. It has all the facilities and it's very close to the train station. Amanda was a very helpful host.

  • Perfect B&B because you have your own fully-equipped little home with its living room, bedroom and bathroom. Breakfast is supplied on arrival in the kitchenette area and on sunny days you could eat out on the decking. Private parking space gives easy access so it is completely separate from the owner's home. Owner Amanda is welcoming and on-hand with recommendations of where to go/eat etc but leaves you in peace otherwise. There are a few excellent pubs serving great food minutes away.

    Ollie2013-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • My other half and I stayed here for 3 nights Fri-Sun - Amanda made us feel very welcome and we would definitely recommend. The cottage is tucked away at the end of their garden and has it's own vehicle access/parking via a track which leads round by the side of the house. The accommodation was very comfortable - living space was lovely with ample light - sofa with comfy cushions, TV with freeview, wooden table with chairs and a kitchen area with all glasses/plates/cutlery etc, plus a fridge - came with croissants, tea, cereal, milk and other bits on arrival which was very nice! Shower was very good - soap and shower gel provided - bedroom was also very nice with a comfy bed. If staying in the Plumpton area again I would definitely recommend we stay here again!

    Stephen2015-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was very comfortable. We squeezed in with five, which is tight, but knew what we were getting into. The two beds are very comfy, the place is extremely clean, and it's in a great location, close to Lewes, Beachyhead and Brighton. Amanda left us a simple breakfast (coffee, tea, milk, juice, croissants and buns), which sufficed. The bedding and towels are just great, and there's lots of kitchen equipment (but just a two burner hotplate). Quiet retreat in a quaint, friendly town. • So so lovely and cosy and really wonderful to find a high chair and enormous basket of toys waiting for our son. lovely location - super easy to Brighton but nice little village in its own right with nice pub where they were also really lovely with our son. Hope to return!

  • The property was exactly as described in a beautiful countryside location. Amanda (our host) gave us clear instructions that allowed us to find the cottage without any problems. Amanda was friendly and relaxed; she welcomed us warmly in person and made sure we had everything we needed.

  • I had a wonderful time at Catharines house. It is not only clean, but nicely decorated and nothing is missing. Even Tea, milk and biscuits are placed in the room. Catharine is a lovely, helpful person and she prepares a delicious breakfast! Thank you very much, Catherine!

  • Catharine is a kind and considerate hostess. She even let me put my cheesecake in her fridge before we went out! Everything was as described and, whilst the room is not en suite, the area where our bedroom and bathroom were was completely private so it was ideal. We were able to park off the road which was a real plus as parking is at a premium in the area. And Catharine cooked us a delicious breakfast too.

  • Catharine made us feel very welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with her. She was attentive to our needs and provided a delicious breakfast in her lovely cottage.

  • Very lovely place there. Nice rooms and a little garden full of different flowers and plants radiating tranquillity. Very good athmosphere which is completed by „Josh“ the (very) friendly dog. Exciting surroundings and many places to visit (for example: The “Beacon“ provides spectacular views). Catharine is a wonderful person / host; solicitous & friendly … a true gift. Not to forget her marvellous breakfast. It's delicious. We fully enjoyed our stay there ! Andrea + Jürgen from Germany

  • Due to train staffing issues I arrived quite late, and Catharine could not have been lovelier -- she made me a cuppa and welcomed me warmly despite the hour. Her cottage was beautiful and perfectly situated -- I did not see how perfectly until the following morning, when I went out for a constitutional and saw the green eminence of the Downs rising above me. The room was cozy and the bed one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in; breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. I will definitely return next time I visit the Downs. Highly recommended.

  • This is a beautiful cottage in a stunning location. It was perfect for the two of us as we each had a double bed and bathroom. The cottage is in a lovely village with a deli, pub, coffee shops, and tea rooms and only a short distance to Lewes, Brighton etc. Our host Melanie was wonderful and made us feel very welcome and was on hand with great day trip suggestions. We cannot thank her enough and I would highly recommend this cottage and host.

Ditchling is a great location for visiting the South Downs, the coast, Brighton or the many houses and gardens of Sussex. Parking on the lane outside is easy, as was finding the house.

  • This cosy and warm cabin in the countryside was an absolute pleasure to stay in. We went walking for 2 days and Keith gave us some tips for local walks, both were lovely and the location was 1 minute from the South Downs way so perfect place to stay. The pub recommendations for the local area were also spot on and we even enjoyed an evening in the hot tub despite the 0 degree temp outside. The cabin was bigger then we expected with a lovely breakfast set up and space to watch some TV on the sofa in the evening. Keith was a fab host and even lent us his torch. Would recommend this for a perfect luxurious walking weekend!

    Laura2017-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Duck Lodge was such a cozy little cottage. My boyfriend and I stayed for a couple of nights to celebrate my birthday. Keith was so nice and happy to help when we needed it. We were definitely sad to leave and can't wait to go again.

  • Duck Lodge is a really lovely place to stay. It's not huge - a one-room log cabin with a bathroom, but is perfect for a few nights and is very nicely furnished with a comfortable bed. We had 4 of us stay (using the bed and sofa bed) which was a bit of a squeeze but perfectly fine for one night! It's at the end of the garden and is very quiet and private. Keith was very communicative and check in was easy, the breakfast provided was really lovely and the lodge has all the amenities you could want - kettle, snacks, plates/cutlery, an iron and a microwave. The hot tub is an added bonus too - along with the lovely countryside view! We stayed here to go to a wedding at Pangdean Lodge - which is about a 10 minute walk away (though down the side of the dual carriageway!)

    jasmine2017-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about Duck Lodge was fabulous. Keith is an excellent host. If you appreciate quality style and kindness this is the place for you.

    Rachel 2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Found duck lodge through airbnb as wanted a night away to celebrate an anniversary. It was perfect! Everything about duck lodge is amazing, the decor, comfy bed, lovely shower and even down to the little touches such as the tea and biscuits on arrival. We of course used the hot tub a couple of times, and it was the best way to end the day relaxing and unwinding, definitely recommend having a dip! We woke up to find keith had made bread and left croissants and pastries with cheeses and ham for our breakfast including yogurts, cereal and fruit! Great way to set us up for the day! Keith was so lovely, and answered any questions we had, and kept in touch with me during the lead up to our stay. He also gave us routes we could go walking nearby, the walk to the Royal Oak in poynings is also marked out in the book which is lovely. We couldn't thank keith enough and couldn't fault a single thing. We will be returning again VERY soon I'm sure of that! Laura & Alec x

  • We had a lovely two night stay at Duck Lodge. It is perfectly placed as a base for both vibrant Brighton and the beautiful South Downs. • The property is close to station and all amenities. There is no on-site car parking, but we managed to find a space on the street. The room itself is only just big enough for a double bed. The host is very friendly and eager to see that guests are catered for.

    Brian2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jane was a very kind and caring host who welcomed me into her home at the end of a very long drive. It was a bit difficult to locate her house in the dark! But I found the 'purple door' in the end. She made me a cup of tea and heated up my microwavable meal for me after showing me the room. I felt the room was probably 'her' room, and it did have a rather lived in feel, and the bed linen felt a little tired. But it was perfectly comfortable. There was a bottle of water and two glasses there, but not tea making facilities etc. The bathroom was on the floor below, and shared with Jane. The only mirror in the bedroom was leaning against the wall on the floor, but was fine propped on the radiator when I found it. Jane prepared a delicious breakfast for me in the morning, and we had a nice chat over it. It was altogether a successful b and b, but very much a case of staying with Jane rather as you might with a friend or family member rather than as something more impersonal. So as long as you are ok with the intimacy of that, I would recommend it.

  • Jane is a fantastic host. Her home is centered in an extreme lovely village that is a nice getaway from city life, but still extremely close to Brighton. Her home is just down the hill from the train station and Jane gives very easy directions (she even drew us a map of what to do in Brighton!). • No effort on the part of the host. I did not even get to know him for someone to explain how the things in the house worked. When I arrived at the house, I called him several times without being answered. When I finally got to talk to him, I got a rather unpleasant first response until he realized who I was (he should not remember that he had a tenant ...). After I sent a message by airbnb for doubts about the internet, to which he never answered. Another person in the house had to help me with this. In general, I felt that he had no particular interest in the comfort of his tenants. House was ok, nothing relevant.

    Marina2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely host. Friendly, helpful and easy to talk to. His home felt peaceful and comfortable.

    Jemma2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is perfect for a single chilled guy but ladies there aren't the things you'll need here. Including hand soap or more toilet paper when the roll (that was just placed on the bin) runs out. Room is really tiny with raised bed (was comftable) but climbing up and down was an issue and there no easy way to get anything you might need at night. And all the hosts items were still in the room like his worn clothes hanging on the back of the door guitars papers etc. Not enough effort was made for someone to stay here who you are expecting payment from.

It was my birthday (I did not tell them) but they had put a lovely bouquet of fresh flowers and that was a nice touch without knowing. They are a very nice couple. From the little welcome note and complementary bottle of fizz, which we enjoyed sat on the outdoor sofa, to the very accommodating, welcoming and helpful owners, our visit was perfect. Bluebell Lodge is set in its own small copse a very short walk away from the delightful, quiet and old school camp site, with its 'proper' camping shop which seems to sell everything. I heartily recomend it and we will definitely be back.

  • My wife, the teenage children and I really enjoyed our few days at Bluebell Lodge. It was well presented and we were welcomed with a handwritten note and a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge, as well as a few eggs, some butter and jams! The Kitchen is well equipped and it was lovely to have a dishwasher with tablets! A great combi boiler (Worcester!) provides hot water for the shower and it was nice not to have to take towels. Boutique hotel syle soaps and shower gels/shampoo provided. We enjoyed the TV which has HDMI in if you want to take your own DVD player - which we did. Lovely comfy sofa which you can snuggle down into. Scented candles for the table made the place feel and smell like home from home. Would definitely recommend this Air BnB! Thank you to Charlotte, her Mum, Alison and her Dad who we had a nice chat with on our last day.

Rooms are light and spacious with a modern kitchen/diner that provides for sociable cooking and dining (seats 6-8) and patio doors that open onto the garden. There are 2 reception rooms, both with Sky TV (so the kids can escape!) and the main lounge has a cosy open fire (fuel provided). Efficient central heating means the house is warm in winter but its also well ventilated and cool in summer. There is a downstairs loo and two bathrooms upstairs (one en-suite) . 4 bedrooms are available; two doubles and 2 singles but they also have room for extra cots and air beds. The garden is secluded, fully fenced, and child/pet friendly and great for barbecues or drinks on the patio: a rural idyll filled with birdsong. There are no street lights so you can watch the stars at night and the quiet off street location means a peaceful night's sleep is guaranteed. Please note 2 cats live here too!
The village has 3 great local pubs, a village shop/general stores and the nearby train station gives easy access to Lewes, London, Gatwick and Brighton. Plumpton racecourse is just a short walk up the road with races held September to May. The villagers are friendly and the local shop and post office stocks everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Excellent dining can be found after a 5 minute drive or half hour walk to nearby East Chiltington (The Jolly Sportsman) or Plumpton Vilage (The Half Moon). The village has a lovely park and playground for children and the local tennis club hires out its courts to visitors. Footpaths span out from all parts of the village into open farm land and there are many lovely walks to be had, especially in the bluebell season. For city thrills there is easy access to Brighton with its beaches, attractions, restaurants, cinemas and theatres.

A comfortable home from home. Nestled between woods and fields with a web of great footpaths. Four pubs within walking distance and bikes should you fancy wheels. Parking easy, bus and train services on the doorstep, starry nights unmissable.
I will be in residence usually. There are multiple possibilities to staying here and therefore costs differ - size of party, number of rooms, length of stay. My mission is to make everyone comfortable and at home. Contact me if a family or group booking required.
  • Carol was a wonderful host who made us all feel at home. Her house and surroundings were an amazing find for us. I highly recommend a stay with Carol.

  • Second time at Carol's lovely home! Always a pleasure and wonderful company! It will always be my first choice to stay or to recommend to family and friends!

  • We were not expecting to have such a genuinely welcoming host, but Carol is a warm, friendly person who has such a calm aura about her. Definitely at one with nature, her home was as described and was just the right balance of rustic and cosy. The views from her home are truly what countryside living is all about and should definitely be experienced especially during these warm summer days/nights. If you're lucky you may get the opportunity to sample some of Carol's delicious numerous homemade jams and preserves. The town is a short distance away and her directions to find her home were spot on. We are definitely planning a return visit to Plumpton, to have more conversations over breakfast and to see more of the area.

  • Sometimes an airbnb experience reminds us that there is very much more good in the world than the media would have us believe. Staying at Stable Cottage with Carol was just such an experience. She was so warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived, kindly offering us a delicious supper as we had arrived too late to get a meal at the pub. We enjoyed her company so much as well as getting to meet her family and friends. The cottage with its walled garden, adjoining woods and views of the Sussex Downs is a delight. The beds were very comfortable and Carol provided wonderful breakfasts each morning. We wished we could have stayed longer and will certainly be going back.

  • We really enjoyed our stay, the great location and Carol's company and help.

  • This was the second time I stayed with Carol, and everything was just as perfect as the first time. She is a wonderful host and friend, and makes sure you feel at home from the moment you arrive. Our room was lovely and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was just as amazing as I remembered, especially the fried mushrooms which Carol had picked herself that morning from the Downs! She also recommended us great places to eat such as the half moon pub and drew us a map in order to find it on a scenic route rather than walking on the road. The lakes 5 mins from Carol's place are beautiful and amazing to swim in on sunny days, and what makes them all the more special, is that they're something of a local secret. When you stay in Carol's home, I can guarantee that you won't want to stay anywhere else in Sussex!

  • Carol is a great host and really lovely lady, she really did make us feel relaxed in her home. Her home is a lovely cottage with loads of interesting thing inside and it's set in a beautiful location, it was so peaceful and a fantastic escape for us all. If you love the countryside you will love it here. If you like shopping and the seaside as we also do, these are only a short drive away or you can take the train from Plumpton Green station which is just down the road. We absolutely love our stay at Carol's and we will be back at the first opportunity. I would highly recommend a staying here.

This is my lovely quirky one-bedroom flat. It's opposite a park and just ten minutes walk from Burgess Hill station. There's a double bed with a single bunk bed above, so it sleeps three (although really bunk better suited to kids!). You're welcome to bring pets, and I have a nice long garden.
Let me give you a walk-through . . . My front door is set back from the road, just next to a gentlemen's hairdressers. Inside is the shared hallway which leads to my groundfloor flat. The door opens to the sitting room, with an open fireplace and Smart TV. The kitchen has wooden floors and everything you could need – fridge freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine, etc etc. There are glass doors out to the nice long garden. The other door leads to the bedroom with the triple bunk bed (double bed below, single bed above) and a wardrobe. Then we come to the large bright bathroom with bath, shower etc.
Burgess Hill is a great base. It's on the main train line between Brighton and London, and it's close to amazing walks along the South Downs. The town itself has all you need – a Waitrose and a Lidl. Plus around 50m down the road there's a great Indian restaurant and a fab Fish n Chip takeaway.
  • Great place to stay! I'd highly recommend ... You have everything you need and the bed is super comfy. Great value.

  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Jonathan's, and our two collies loved it as well. Jonathan made us feel terribly welcome right from the start - from booking, really. A few days before arriving he had already emailed us with detailed descriptions of how to get there, how to check in and what to expect. It was truly a wonderful way of welcoming guests, something we've only experienced once before. The flat is gorgeous, spacious and very bright. There's an amazing garden as well, though hardly any room to sit in the sittingroom, haha! Also, we hadn't slept as good as we did those two nights in the whole two weeks we'd been travelling. Within five minutes of arriving we wondered why on earth we were only staying here for two days and hadn't checked in days before. Burgess Hill, apart from being able to reach Brighton with such ease, is a lovely place in itself. There's a nice central area with shops (when we arrived, they were playing cricket in the park across the street) and all sorts. There are also a few nice walks. Can not recommend this enough!

    Tess2017-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Another lovely stay at this home, Jonathan is always welcoming and provides a lovely hamper at the start of your stay. Returning guests are remembered and greeted like old friends. I would highly recommend staying in this home it's by far the best location on airbnb

  • The location is next to a park and it is really lovely area

    Jason2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great little flat! Communication and instructions from Jonathan were smooth, quick, and simple. Any questions were answered quickly too. There are many local amenities a short walk from the flat, but you have everything you need in the flat to be self-contained. The groceries and food hamper were an added bonus, and very generous. Great breakfast too! Recommended.

    Joe2017-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • The flat is well located opposite a park. It's a short distance into the town and there is a small newsagents just a couple of doors away. I managed to park opposite the flat on most occasions but when it was busy, there was plenty of free parking around the park. The flat was very clean, bright and spacious with a nice vibe and the added bonus of a garden. Jonathan was very efficient at communicating before my stay and extremely helpful and friendly when I had to ring him about something. The notes Jonathan left were very clear and useful, covering everything I needed to know such as how to use the WiFi etc. The welcome hamper was a nice touch and made me feel very welcome.

    Linda2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house is located opposite to a park, and you have all the major shops located within a 5 minute walk (e.g. waitrose, lidl, Iceland, etc.). The house is nice and clean, and the beds are very cosy. Additionally, Jonathan left us a nice food hamper when we arrived. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to get away from the city bustle and relax in a rural and relaxed atmosphere .

    Mohammed2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Big space, plenty of room for 3 adults and a dog. Nice touches from Jonathan who had goodies waiting for us when we arrived. Really good communication and checking in was really easy. We put the smallest adult in the top bunk, the beds were very comfy and the bed sheets smelt fresh. If you have an iPad and have a live tv app, bring it with you to connect to the Apple TV that Jonathan has installed. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again!

Light, airy, minimalist holiday home. This home caters for the working traveler, one-time weekend breakers and if you are traveling from Gatwick its situated right next to the A23 and is only 25 minutes from Gatwick by Car/Taxi. The Home is conected to many sussex footpaths that lead to the south downs.
The Garden is large and spacious which is ideal for recreational activities. Also, there is a lake next to which upon request can be fished. There is a good stock of grass carp in the lake. Bikes can be locked to the caravan tow bar for security.
  • This caravan is the perfect spot if you want a peaceful stay near Brighton. The city is only 15min away by car. You'll find the caravan is a peaceful spot next to a farm, where rabbits will be sitting around you all of the time. The caravan is very luxurious: I kept looking around and forgetting I was in a caravan and not a fancy flat. It is well equipped and outside there are barbecue possibilities. The bed however, is still a caravan bed, which means it's a mattress on a wooden board. The both of us slept perfectly fine, but I can imagine people with back problems could have more problems with that. I can definitely recommend this Airbnb.

  • Mark's holiday home was perfect for a mini break. The interior is newly decorated and beautifully presented. We were greeted with a warm welcome and Mark was brilliant at responding to messages if we had any questions. The holiday home is set within a farm which was very scenic and tranquil. If you're looking for the country break within easy reach of Brighton, this place beats any hotel or bnb for privacy and value. Loved it!

  • Really enjoyed our break. We were looking for seclusion and comfort. It ticked the boxes. Its worth pointing out the location. There is noise from nearby transport, however, once inside with the lovely fire, we soon forgot it was there.

    Grant2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for what we needed for a few days!

    Ruth2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very pleasant stay at Mark's place, the caravan has all the modern comforts and is quite spacious, which was exactly what we needed. The only thing to keep in mind is the fact that the bed seems a futon style one, and therefore rather harder than most people will be used to. But we had a great time here and would still recommend it.

    Suze2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location and perfect for what I needed. Cosy but with plenty of room with the essentials and easy communications with the host. You feel totally at home immediately; will definitely be going back for another stay!
