Holiday Rentals in Calaveras County

Just booked in Calaveras County

La Chambre Bleue is one of 5 great rooms with views on top floor which has 2 baths. Please note that it is not just one room. The top floor (see photos) has 3 private bedrooms each with a CA king size bed, a Home Theater room that sleeps 4, and a more secluded 4th bedroom. Great amenities on main floor, views, music, and wine/dine pairing provide a true French Chateau experience. Come experience what a $2 Million Chateau is like and living your dream away from the hustle of the cities.
Chateau St George is a custom designed French Style Chateau with a vineyard and amazing views. Chateau St. George will prove to be a destination on its own. The main Guest Room is 'La Chambre Bleue', a Top Floor Suite, with a balcony with stunning views. The en Suite bathroom is right next to it and will be used only by the guests. The red room 'La Chambre Rouge' is the second room close to Chambre Bleue; The third room is the tower suite with its own bathroom. It is decorated with black and white French art. The top floor accommodates parties of 6 in those three different rooms each with a California King Size bed. 4 additional people beyond the 6 can be accommodated in the 4th room which is the home theater room on a large L shaped couch, a rollout bed pad, and a recently added double bed. All the above rooms have great views to the surrounding hills. The 5th room with a queen size bed is a more secluded room behind the home theatre room, that can be used if needed for an additional 2 people. Chateau St George is located in the heart of California. It provides easy access to the Sierra Foothills & Gold Country for wine tasting, and to Yosemite National Park, and to Dodge Ridge Ski resort. Many golf courses are within half an hour that include: Mountain Spring Gold Course, Phoenix Lake Golf Course, Greenhorn Creek Golf Course in Angels Camp, and best of all the NCGA course Saddle Creek in Copperopolis. Many guests upon seeing the views of the Sonora basin, with rolling hills, vineyards, golf course, immediately compare it to Tuscany. Music is available throughout the house for a true enjoyable experience for all the senses, inside and outside. The host will play the guests favorite music if requested to compliment the feast for the eyes of the amazing views from the property. I will only host one airbnb guest group at a time, even though there are multiple rooms. The rare exception is if I am hosting also some of my own friends.
The neighborhood is all custom homes on 4-7 acre parcels; it is in the country side, but is only 2 miles from hwy 108 with easy access to shopping and touring. Check this out: (website hidden)
  • What an incredible place to stay. We booked this last minute after deciding to visit Apple Hill after a day in Yosemite. This will now be a yearly trip after our stay with George. George communicated with our entire party to ensure we knew where we were going. The property is beautiful, you can tell he spent a lot of time to create such an amazing place. After a long day hiking in Yosemite we were welcomed back with a beautiful meal and wine. We thoroughly enjoyed our time chatting with George and learning about his Chateaux. Highly recommended!

  • This is what Airbnb was invented for! We had a heart warming stay with George, who was an amazing host and cook. The place was cozy, clean and beautiful. The view from our bedroom was stunning. Also it is literally a castle!! No way you can experience anything like that staying in a hotel!

  • WOW !! The Chateau St. George is magnificent, and Host George is a gracious, friendly, and wonderful Host. George greeted us upon arrival, gave us a tour of his incredible home, and then we sat with him out on his patio to take in the view. You'd think you were in Tuscany---rolling hills, vineyards in the distance, fabulous views. Later on, George cooked us a fantastic dinner of salad, filet mignon, a Lebanese potato dish that was off the charts, and we shared wine and stories. It was an unforgettable evening, and we enjoyed the next 2 days like we were in Italy. George is a great person, and we had a lot in common...wine, golf, & travel, to name a few, and we did drink some very nice wine together. We had a wonderful time, and will come back often. This was really, really fun, and very special. Thanks George for a fantastic and memorable few days. See you soon. Ciao !!

  • Nice place. We got there very late but George waited for us for a long time. We appreciate the coffee and fresh bread in the morning. Like the castle very much!

  • Spoiled. Just plain spoiled. There's not a better word to describe the way my friends and I were treated by host George during our company's retreat at Chateau St. George. He graciously accommodated our unanticipated, late evening arrival with a special welcoming of scrumptious hors d'oeuvres, carefully selected music and a spectacular tour of the chateau and starlit grounds. Every effort was made and perfectly achieved to provide a quiet, worry-free environment to conduct our business. In recess from work, the peaceful grounds, beautifully furnished rooms, artwork, and soft music served as an exquisite retreat. The last morning's breakfast of eggs Benedict proved further that George has mastered his skills as a chef to the degree which would guarantee him a job at any five-star restaurant. But let's hope he stays at Chateau St. George...I'm bringing my family back in the Fall!

  • Althrough it was the first "castle" I live in, definately it was a fatestic trip. Gegore is a really nice host, we arrived late and he waited us until 10:00 pm. THANKS for everything we enjoyed in your house, a nice trip!

Secluded, stone and wood beam guest cottage located on a 10 acre retreat style property with a Pool. King Bed, Full Kitchen, Fireplace and Full Bathroom. Wifi and a TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime. Back Deck overlooks a 2 acre pond and pasture with horses. Incredibly magical and picturesque place to relax :) We have shared it with our friends and are now for the first time offering it on Airbnb for 2017. Come be one of our first NEW friends that we share our piece of paradise with. :-)
Guest House: Completely separate from the main house. (Approximately 50 yards away) It was gutted and remodeled 3 years ago. It's the perfect place for a couple or single to relax and recharge :) Bed, bathroom, kitchen and sitting area are on the main floor. Access to the loft is via the ladder shown in photos. In the loft you will find a quiet place to work (a desk) and a nice sitting area to look out at the property in from the second story. Back door leads to a full length back deck with views of the pond and where the horses feed. Friends and family have spent many a morning drinking coffee and nights on the back deck drinking wine and enjoying the view. Property: 10 acre Ranchette with a pond, pool, gazebo, walking trails and firepits. Pond is a catch and release with bass fish. We are at the end of a dead end road and the back of our property borders 180 acres of county owned pasture land. All of the roads to get here are paved. Pool and Property: Guests will have full free roam of all of the property including the pool, gazebo etc. We leave and go to an office off the property almost everyday so you will more than likely have the entire place to yourself a lot of the time :) Animals: 5 horses, 1 goat, barn cats and our house dogs. For the barn animals you can interact with them if you like or just look :) If you would like to feed and/or pet just let us know -we feed them at 9am if you would like to join us. We keep our house dogs inside when we have guests unless guests request a play partner and we are happy to share our young goofy black lab. (and take them to our office with us during the day) Other occasional wildlife include deer, ducks, cranes, geese, wild turkeys, pheasants, otters, muskrats. Ducks and the one lone resident crane are more common. Geese, wild turkeys and pheasants are seasonal. You will occasionally hear coyotes off in the distance at night. Kids: This is a great property for kids to roam and experience semi ranch life. There is A LOT of water here. The pond is about 2 acres and there is a pool. We trust you know your children and can properly discern if this is the right place for them. :-) Over the years we have had tons of kids stay and enjoy. Your Dogs/Cats/Horses: Friendly fur animals are welcome. Most dogs here go off leash but if your dog is a runner please note the area is not completely fenced off. Just let us know if you are bringing a pet as we have special welcome packages for them :) About us: We are entrepreneurs and live in the main house on the property. We have an office that is 2 miles away and take our dogs there almost everyday of the week. We are both originally from cities and enjoy the peace and solitude this property provides. We are more than willing to be friendly and socialize or give you complete privacy. Things to Know Before You Come: Secluded: We are 20 minutes away from a real grocery store so make sure to stock up before you come. There is gas station 2.5 miles away that has snacks and basic items. We keep tea and coffee and standard kitchen items stocked in the cottage. Ranch Life: The guest house is luxurious but this is a ranch with animals and wildlife and dirt :) Please bring appropriate attire to fully enjoy the ranch life. Seasons: Winter brings a lot of rain and it can be soggy so bring boots. The rain makes the grass green but there are not as many flowers as in the summer. We enjoy a lot of fires in winter and the pool in summer :) (Guest House is fully heated and air-conditioned.) We also make our own olive oil and will leave an open bottle for you to try. If you are super interested, I could even talk my Dad to come over to give you a proper olive oil introduction and tasting experience.
The property resides at the end of a private road that is in the Sierra Foothills. Rolling hills with oak tress primarily. We are 10 minutes away from wine tasting, 20 minutes from Sutter Creek and the the other old gold 49er towns and about 30 minutes from Shenandoah Valley the "other" wine country.
  • Beautiful place. We enjoyed feeding the horses this morning.

  • This is a little slice of paradise. Dori and Meredith go above and beyond to welcome their guests with hand written welcomes throughout the guest house. I felt comfortable and at home and everything was made very accessible. So grateful to have had the opportunity to share this space!

  • Gorgeous, comfortable, high end cabin. Comfortable bed, gorgeous shower. Wonderful hosts! Very relaxing and serine.

  • A great place to get away from it all, we all loved staying here!

    Ashley2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This guest house has such charm and gives you the ability to unplug from your surroundings and get some rest and relaxation. The care that Dori and Meredith put into making you stay a magical experience is amazing. I would highly recommend staying here. My only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer due to our travel plans. We will definitely being staying here again when you come back to the area.

  • Just a stunning beautiful guest house. Wonderfully outfitted with anything you might need. Fully equipped for that second "B" in BnB. I had arrived late and tired and hungry (too afraid to take time to stop and find food, as I worried about finding the place) and found ample food for a light dinner! Complimentary wine and snacks galore! Verizon and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps lead me right in with no issues. The cell service is non-existent inside the guest house... a few bars on the deck. But... that is actually a good thing I think! Plenty of text and VOIP access via great wifi (if you want it!) The double-headed shower is amazing. As the house manual suggests... enjoy the night sounds. Then, enjoy a coffee in morning on the beautiful deck with newly blossoming trees and horses grazing just feed away. Would love to return someday if I could!! I think this has been my best AirBnB experience yet!!!

    Laura2017-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin and the hosts were both amazingly warm and friendly! We thoroughly enjoyed our romantic birthday getaway and the place couldn't have been any more perfect! We are already excited to book another visit to the wine country and can't wait to stay at this cozy, secluded cabin!

    Rick2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • It was pure joy to stay at Dori and Meredith's cottage. Not only is the cottage stupendous, the grounds, animals, pond and pool are amazing. We are definitely going back!!

  • Sheryl's house is beautiful and perfect for a weekend getaway. Its a short trip (3 miles?) to wine taste, and secluded and wonderful for a weekend away with family or friends. Beautiful home, plenty of space. Great outdoor space with a fun pool and game room.

    Nikole2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • The house was absolutely stunning! It was perfect for our weekend get-a-way. Everything we could possibly need was there. I highly recommend this house if you're looking for a nice relaxing trip away from the city. If you turn all the lights out in the house at night, the stars come out like crazy and you can make out the Milky Way.

    Sarah2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This house is the BEST I've ever rented in my years of using airbnb. It's high end in all the finishings and decor. It was an awesome way to celebrate my 40th birthday with friends and kids. We had a heated competition of Iron Chef in the beautiful kitchen and the pool was the main attraction for the kids. Do not hesitate to rent his amazing property.

  • This place has to be one of the best Airbnb's I have ever stayed at!! My family and I had an amazing time. The house is beautiful, just like the photos. It was designed so perfectly! The pool was great and the land was filled with deer and other wildlife. Sheryl was extremely accommodating with my great grandmother and children in our group. We hope to stay at this house again!! Definitely recommend.

    Cassandra2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing house, I would definitely come back, recommend to everyone. Just a heads up- the house doesn’t have a hot tub, the pool can be heated.

    Renà2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • The home was beautiful and well maintained. The big disappointment was with the pool and not being able to use it. We also found there to be no hot tub as listed under the many amenities. This family trip had been in the planning for 8 months. The video and pictures of the pool showed a well maintained beautifully operating pool with waterfalls and slide. It was these pictures and video that were the deciding factors in renting the property for two nights. Sheryl informed me a week prior to our arrival that there would be a extra charge to heat the pool. I was a little surprised at that but agreed. Everyone had bought new swimsuits and were excited having seen the pictures. Once I agreed to pay extra that is when the problems began, Sheryl said her contractor needed to go turn it on and see that it was in working condition. The pool never got turned on. Her contractor and pool guy were MIA one day, car trouble the next day and the list went on. Sheryl admitted that this was not the first time he had flaked out and I was left feeling very stressed. At our arrival we were told by Amy that the pool guy had finally made it out and would be back with the needed parts to fix the pool in a couple hours. Needless to say he never showed that day, came back the next with the wrong part and we never got to use the pool. The beautiful waterfall to the right hand side of the slide was not working as well. Apparently it leaks and had been shut down. I asked Sheryl for a reasonable refund due to the huge disappointment shared by all and was told that she did all she could and no refund would be offered. Doing all you can sometimes is not enough when you are trying to run a business. In the end why should I have to pay for her inabilities to keep her pool maintained. And what ever happened to the Hot Tub that was suppose to be on the property? Hopefully this does not happen to anyone else who is hoping to use the "Pool".

  • We had a great getaway with college friends and our kids. All in all perfect spot to getaway and enjoy the country and a beauty setting. We never had to leave the property. Beautiful home, decor and lots of space. Perfect for a large group gathering! Highly recommend.

    Jill2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This house was perfect for a large family trip! We all had a great time using the pool, playing in the game room, cooking in the massive kitchen and just enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Sheryl and Amy really went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. We had a minor issue with the kitchen faucet leaking. We asked if it could be fixed on a Saturday and by that afternoon they had sent a repairman (who was so friendly and even gave us a basket of strawberries!) and the faucet was as good as new. Really beautiful house and an extremely enjoyable weekend.

    Sutter Creek, CA, United States

This charming little studio cottage was originally built sometime between 1910 and 1925 to house a bakery in conjunction with the butcher shop next door (main house). In the early 1930’s the bakery was closed and the shed was converted into a studio apartment for a young man who lived there for over a decade. In later years it has served as a polling place for Vallecito elections and as a storage facility for various owners. In 2010, after years of neglect, we began a major renovation project in the hopes of returning it to its former glory as a livable cottage. The renovation included new foundation and flooring, new exterior siding, energy efficient windows and doors, and the reframing of the interior walls in order to accommodate the 10” thick insulation. A new bathroom was installed along with the promise of a complete kitchenette to be added in the winter of 2014. The result is a refurbished cottage that is extremely quiet and very comfortable due to the extra thick walls, new insulation, and dual pane windows and doors. It is now completely handicapped accessible. The queen sized Murphy bed has a comfortable memory foam mattress, plenty of pillows and a down comforter and can be folded up for more space during the day. There is a private patio out side the sliding glass door for relaxing. The cottage sits back from the street and is surrounded by a beautiful garden area that offers visitors a quietly, serene setting in which to sip a morning cup of coffee or unwind with a nice glass of locally made wine. A visit to the Vallecito area offers a wide assortment of historical, cultural and outdoor activities. The small town of approximately 300 people is both quiet and welcoming. A short walk, can allow a visitor a peaceful journey into the surrounding countryside where cattle and horses graze in the pastures and birds sing in the trees. Within a 5 minute drive, visitors can wander the shops and sample the wines of the area along Murphy’s trendy Main Street; go spelunking in Moaning Cavern, hike the trail and swim the creek through Natural Bridges or hit the historic district of Angels Camp and a movie at the 75 year old Angels Theater. A 15 minute drive will take you to Columbia State Historical Park and it’s well known Fallon House Theater, New Melones Lake for fishing, boating and waterskiing and Calaveras County Fairgrounds, site of the historic Jumping Frog Jubilee. A 30 minute drive will take you to Calaveras Big Trees State Park, the shopping district of Sonora, Mercer Caverns and Cave City or the Stanislaus River at Camp 9. Summer hikes, kayaking and fishing abound within a 1 hour drive from ‘The Shed’ in the Stanislaus National Forest. Winter activities include skiing or snowshoeing at Bear Valley or Dodge Ridge 1 hour away, even Kirkwood Resort is a 2 hour drive. For those with a passion for driving, we are situated about a 2 hour drive from Yosemite National Park, The San Francisco Bay Area, and Sacramento. When the pass is open in summer a 2-3 hour drive over the Hwy 4 National Scenic Byway takes you through the majestic scenery of the Sierra Nevada, past cold rushing streams, meadows of wildflowers and blue alpine lakes to Markleeville, Grover Hot Springs State Park, and the Lake Tahoe region. A drive along Historic Hwy 49 will take you through the heart of California’s Gold Country where the many small towns offer a bounty of antique stores, unique boutiques, small independent restaurants and interesting museums and mining sites.
The original structure dates back to the early 1920's and was originally built as the town bakery. The Main house was built in the 1890's as a butcher shop. Both have been beautifully refurbished into very comfortable homes.
Vallecito is an incredibly rare community where everyone knows everyone else, but rarely do people get into your business. It is a very quiet community made up of mostly retired people. It is not uncommon for neighbors to stop by for an afternoon chat or to drop by a basket of fresh eggs or home cooked goodies.
  • Bev and Rod was simply fantastic for kindness and hospitality. The home is a jewel: Clean and perfect. I really enjoyed my stay there.

  • What a wonderful find! The Shed is tucked away on a quiet street and perfect for a getaway for two! The cottage is more than we imagined. It's designed and decorated from time past and extremely cozy. We recommend you don't hesitate to (URL HIDDEN) was well enjoyed. Rod was very helpful in giving us fishing hole directions and providing a few restaurants to eat. Thanks for the hospitality~

  • Absolutely perfect! The bedroom is spacious and has a kitchenette, its own bathroom and even a small patio. Definitely recommended! We'd love to come back.

  • After five days of hiking and camping in the mountains staying at the Shed felt like paradise. 'Shed' doesn't really suit this beautiful little cottage! It is so comfortable and cozy. The area is also super gorgeous, lots of cute little towns and the scenery is just breathtaking. Highly recommended!

    Vanya2016-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Bev & Rod's place was better than expected, the shed is decorated so perfectly. They put a lot of details into making this a special place. You won't be disappointed, the location is great if you're wanting to spend time in Murphy's, it's a short 5 minute drive to downtown but you have the benefit of staying in a nice quiet location for half the price! Thank you Bev & Rod!

    Julie2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We spent four days in Bev and Rod's area--with most of our time at nearby Angles Camp to visit relatives. This was our first experience with Airbnb, and it worked well for us. The pleasant "shed" had everything and more that we needed. Our hosts had reached out to us before arrival, and they made us feel welcome once we got in, following a delayed airline flight. One morning we did get out for an early walk through the countryside before heading over to be with our goup elsewhere. I anticipate we'll be back in a couple of years when we visit family members nearby again. Thanks for your hospitality.

    Kathleen2015-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Bev and Rod were such wonderful hosts! We couldn't have felt more welcome in their little town of Vallecito. The shed was perfect for our stay--- super comfortable memory foam mattress topper and top quality shower. It was interesting to hear about the history behind the shed and seeing it in person will leave you in awe with what Rod and Bev have done. Thank you again for such a wonderful time and we can't wait to come back!!

    SeoYeun Michelle2015-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Both Rod and Bev instantly made my husband and I feel at home. I had been impressed by the pictures on the website of the "Shed", however, when Rod opened the door to the "Shed" I was amazed by the spaciousness, workmanship and no details spared ambiance of their hidden gem. Rod and Bev definitely over-delivered. The murphy bed was super comfortable, the locally roasted coffee provided in our kitchenette was a perfect wake-me up before we headed out the door for breakfast 5 minutes away in the town of Murphys. The only downside to our stay was we only reserved one night. Bev and Rod, we will definitely be back and for a longer stay next time!

Cute studio in my downtown Angels Camp Victorian home with a private entrance. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, creek and a short drive to wine tasting in downtown Murphys. Just over 2 hours from Yosemite or Lake Tahoe and a little over an hour to Bear Valley and Lake Alpine. Great central location makes it easy to access so many great places in Northern California.
The Nest is a converted attic which has a full bathroom. I am located right off Main Street in Historic Angels Camp and try to provide as many amenities as possible.
I live in Downtown Angels Camp. Walking distance to the movie theater, restaurants, shops and the local bar. There is also a cute park less than a 10 minute walk away and creek access also about a 10 minute walk. Although I'm in downtown, it is still very quiet and peaceful in the evenings. Nice neighborhood.
  • Jessica's place saved me during my trip to Yosemite. I was looking for somewhere relatively close, it's about 2 hours away from the park, and not too pricey and her place was perfect! She was very friendly and her pets were adorable. The room may seem hot at first when entering but she has an AC that cools it down very much. There was also a bathroom and shower which was great after a day's long hike. She even let me leave some water and food in her fridge to stay cool for the next day. Jessica is a terrific host and her place is very nice!

  • This place is just so awesome! It had everything we needed plus more. Jessica was a great host! She even provided snacks, fruits, bagels, coffee and was complete with all amenities. Few steps away from restaurants and bars. Bed was so comfy and place very clean. Highly recommended. Will definitely stay there again when we are in the area.

  • Nice and cozy room with bathroom separated by curtain. Little warmer, but the AC did help to cool the room down. Jessica is very friendly host.

  • It was a nice cozy attic. I thought it would be hot but was comfortable. I just slept with window open and did not turn on the swamp cooler. I only wished the refrigerator was larger.

  • Jessica is a great host and has lots of thoughtful touches in the room. Her converted attic is super cute. We stayed during a record heat wave so it was definitely warm but there is a ice cooling fan which helped.

  • Jessica's place was wonderful! It was perfect for my stay and Jessica was a very accommodating host. I would definitely recommend it for one or two people.

While this unit is not too far off the beaten path, you will feel like you're tucked away in the trees. Breathe in the fresh mountain air while you gaze at the beautiful surroundings. Minutes from downtown Murphys, a short drive to Bear Valley, and walking distance to Quyle Kilns, a pottery place that has seasonal music and drama shows.
  • We really enjoyed staying at Danelle's place! It was clean, cozy and the bed was quite comfortable. The location was great for us as well. It's quiet and woodsy feeling there, and yet only a 7 minute drive to Murphys, CA. We didn't use the fire pit this time, but plan to if we stay there again.

  • Danelle is a great host. Really enjoyed my stay -- evident by the fact I booked a second week during my first week stay. Check out my first review as it stands!!! Thanks Danelle!

I very much appreciate that the area is peaceful and quiet. The unit is very livable and was adequately stocked with all items needed including coffee. Charming Guest House, Magnificent Views, 5 Minutes to Murphy's La Villetta is the name of our guest house, which means 'little house' in Italian. Our main house is the 'big house' and looks like an Italian villa. The ambience is very Mediterranean, as though you are in Tuscany. We are set high on a hill overlooking hills and vineyards. You feel 'a world away' yet we are just a quick 5 minute drive to downtown Murphys. Romantic, private and secluded, but with wifi to keep you connected.
  • What an amazing view! We had a beautiful evening sitting on the patio looking at the sunset with our wine. Very nice place for a group of girls with great sleeping accommodations!we all felt very relaxed and rested! Thank you Rebecca

    Heather2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca's rental is a great little getaway location, with a lot close by, but feels secluded. The view was amazing and we really enjoyed sunset/sunrise. It was a good base camp for our daily adventures. Beds were comfy and having 2 restrooms for the 5 of us was good. As a heads up it does have a small kitchen with a mini fridge and a little electric stove top with 2 burners, not a full size kitchen. If there's anything in particular you'd want you might ask ahead or bring your own. We happened to bring a pressure cooker with us and we were really glad we did as I have a severe food allergy and making my own meals from scratch is essential. We enjoyed our relaxing stay and hope to come back again.

  • Beautiful situation- great private garden and terrace with comfy chairs, tables, and sun umbrella. Great interior space with fab views and appointments. We hope to visit again when in gold country.

  • We feel so fortunate to have discovered La Villeta. We found this place on a whim when we decided to leave Lake Tahoe a bit early to head to Big Trees SP for a couple days. I saw it online and thought it looked too good to be true! Thankfully for us, Rebecca responded to our request to book right away and when we arrived, the villa is even more beautiful in person than in pictures! Rebecca was really helpful in orienting us when we got there and offering suggestions on what to do and where to go, and there are books and binders full of useful information on wineries in the area and local attractions etc. The garden and outdoor patio overlooking the valley below are perfect at night for drinking wine and star gazing (and in the morning for drinking coffee and admiring the view). The 2 downstairs rooms and bathroom are comfortable and clean, and if needed there are 2 more beds and a half bath upstairs. Since it is an open ceiling the space feels bigger than it actually is and w all the windows the natural light is warm and inviting...really does make you feel like you have fell into Tuscany somehow! There is a small kitchen w a small fridge, a toaster, a microwave, a tea kettle and coffee pot. I would say probably a bit too small to do any significant cooking but enough to heat up leftovers and make snacks and such. And there really is no point in cooking much while there anyway because the town of Murphys is 5 minutes away down the mountain and has such cute restaurants w delicious food, along w tasting rooms, shops, and a pour house. It is a scenic, fun little town to spend a few hrs in, or it is close enough to get takeout and bring it back up to enjoy on the patio! Big Trees SP is an easy 20 minute drive up the road. All in all, it was a spectacular 2 day stay, and I wish we could have been there longer. La Villeta and the town of Murphys are both little gems to discover off the beaten track. I would whole heartedly recommend this space for girls trips, couples, or small families.

  • Rebecca's Villeta is a nice private place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine while looking over the hills and valley of Murphys. There is a expansive patio to sit and enjoy the night sky on this lovely hilltop private property. The bedrooms and living areas are nicely appointed, but enjoy your meals at the local restaurants as the cooking facilities here are rather limited. We enjoyed our stay on this hilltop escape.

    Koshi2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Rebecca's place. It is jaw-droppingly beautiful & situated overlooking the most breath-taking view, framed by green trees as far as the eye can see. The inside is very tastefully decorated & has basic kitchen items. The beds are extremely comfortable (and I say that as someone who suffers from chronic pain & dreads a cheap mattress). The landscaping was beautifully maintained and reflected the feel of the property overall. My favorite part of our visit was sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine and watching the sunset while hummingbirds buzzed around the potted plants. The hosts were so helpful and nice- even giving us personal recommendations to help us with a family history project. I'm so glad we decided to stay here! The house is a great value for the price & we will definitely be coming back with another couple or two in the future. Thank you again for the great stay and hospitality!

    Kate2017-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca was very kind and we had a warm welcome from her and her husband. The place is at the top of a hill with breathtaking view of the Sierra and ideal also for some stargazing. You will need a car though if staying here. We got some nice hints about places to go to such as the Murphys creek and the Calaveras big trees state park. The latter was absolutely amazing. North Grove trail of 1.5 miles ideal for families with little ones such as ours. We also did the columbia historic state park which I can also recommend. The house is great and has a nice Tuscan vibe to it, well decorated. You can stay with 8 bed-wise but you'd have to share the single shower on the ground floor then. We were a party of 4 and used all the ground floor bedding: 1x queen and 2x single beds ideal for the kids. We enjoyed sunset dinner on the spacious terrace with some chardonnay we bought earlier in Sonoma. I can recommend this place for sure!

  • Perfect location! Cute comfy cottage. Perfect!

    Paula2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • First of all, the location is amazing, one street above the main street, walking distance to just about everything in town. The place itself was great, with a nice grassy front area where you can picnic or hang out, our 1 year old had plenty of room to run around. There's a porch with chairs where my wife and I hung out at night and watched the stars. The room isn't huge but it was plenty for 2 adults and an infant. The bed was huge and super comfortable. The contemporary construction inside was all brand new, built by the host himself, impressive. The area gets hot in general (we were there in the summer) so the air conditioner was a must. When we arrived we were even welcomed by a bottle of champagne chilling on ice. Rod, himself is a great guy. Very attentive, messages back immediately, and is around to give you tips or to offer help if so desired. Having never been to Murphys we welcomed all his recommendations on food and different activities. We did have an issue, a mistake I made on my end, and Rod was generous and reasonable in working it out with me. We would hands down stay there again when we do go back.

    David2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This fresh, uncluttered, inviting studio was perfect for us. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept so well. Rob was a welcoming host. He looked out for us at every turn and included thoughtful treats when we arrived. Hope to return soon!

  • Rod was a great host and his cottage was a wonderful studio style retreat. The bed was very comfortable. The location was perfect for wine tasting, shopping and lunch.

  • A cute little getaway just walking minutes from the Main Street. Rod was an excellent host and there were amazing treats left for us before we arrived. He was very a, accomdatable to our needs and we greatly appreciate everything that he did to make our trip successful.

  • Cool little place in a great location. Rod's place is just a block over from Main Street in Murphys, and just a few minutes walk from the wine tasting rooms and the Murphys hotel. Quiet little unit, very clean with a really comfy bed. It was a pleasant surprise to find fresh fruit and a bottle of sparkling wine upon check in. I'd highly recommend Rod's place for anyone looking to stay near downtown Murphys.

  • Absolutely loved staying in this cottage. It was so peaceful, with beautiful grounds and comfortable beds and living area. Erica couldn't have been any more helpful and is the ultimate host. It's so great that while it is in a quiet residential area, it is literally a 5 min walk to the lively Main Street of Sutter Creek. So close to all the quaint shops & wonderful restaurants. We couldn't have picked a better place to spend the last few days! We will be returning to this cottage on our next trip to Sutter Creek.

    Lisha2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful base for a long weekend wine tasting and exploring the region. Very close to the Sutter Creek town, just 5 minutes walk, so perfect for wine tasting. Very comfortable bed, shared living area which really works well if you have another friend who books the second room. Both rooms have great bathrooms and privacy from each other. Lovely grounds, creek at the back, could not ask for more!

    Diana2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • I've been visiting the Sutter Creek area for 20 years and just discovered this gem. What a great place! The location is in a park-like setting next to the main house, but property is a very close walk to town. Although we rented both rooms at the same time; either room on it's own would be a very comfortable stay. Each room has a separate entrance and can be secured when leaving for the day. The common area in between each room is comfortable with couches and a table for a meal if needed. There is also a small fridge, sink and two-stove cooktop unit that makes staying for a meal super easy. Equipped with plenty of glasses/cups to enjoy wine or coffee, you'll need to bring plates/utensils if needing anything else. The beds were super comfortable and linens fresh and clean. All that said, I highly recommend this cottage for just the property alone. It was so relaxing to sit outside in the comfortable lounge chairs, sip some wine and watch the stars at night. I can't wait to go back!

  • We absolutely loved staying here. We wanted to get away for the weekend and just relax, and Linda's home was the perfect place for that. We arrived a little later in the night, so Linda left us brochures and restaurant menus for us to look at. It was such a sweet gesture because we didn't really know anything around here. Her house was so amazing. It had such a homey feeling to it because of the way she decorated it. It was very clean and had everything you needed in it. If you are looking to come and unplug from everything, this is the place to go. We will definitely be staying here again the next time we come to Arnold!

  • Linda was a great host for our occasion. She was very informative and clear about any directions or instructions. The posting's pictures were accurate and the neighborhood was found to be quiet and safe. Linda was kind in her offering of a bottle of local red wine upon our stay (which was unexpected and appreciated)! And, having left behind a cell phone during our stay, Linda promptly snail-mailed it back to me, providing a text-image of the package at the time of mailing (another unexpected and greatly appreciated act of kindness)! Overall, I thought the cabin was priced at a great rate, and our experience was entirely pleasant! Having Linda as a friendly host ensures I will be planning any of my future Arnold/Murphy's stays at her select cozy cabin! -Kirklan

  • This is the most adorable little house! Linda was incredibly attentive to our needs. Very helpful and knowledgeable, she bent over backwards for us and went well out of her way to make us feel at home. The moment we walked into the place, my boyfriend and I were already talking about when we would be back. The worst thing I have to say about her is, I wish I could have met her to thank her personally for making the weekend so memorable. Like we said, we can't wait to come back! Excellent rental and owner. Perfect for a couple trying to get away for a little bit, especially if you have a pet you travel with. Would highly recommend!!

  • Linda's Cozy Cabin was wonderful. It is well appointed and very close to town. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. • Playa del Lago was the best choice for our big group the cabin has plenty of space, a huge room with 10 beds was perfect for all the women in our group to spend time together with a big screen smart TV on that room. The Hot Tub was a BIG thumbs up we spend so much time in there with a perfect view to the lake during the day and the moon at night time. The Kitchen was fully equipped the only thing I will mention is that they don't have big pots but we deal with it pretty well. The Lake was only a few steps way, clean blue water allowed us to have lots of fun! is a private lake and required tags to visit but the cabin had plenty of all of us!

  • This is a fantastic, spacious house - it's a lot bigger than the pictures convey. It is very clean, open, and modern (but with a nice nod to mountain rustic). It is on a cul-de-sac at the top of the hill, and the views and trees are lovely. The kitchen is well-stocked with cooking gear as well as spices, canned goods, etc. (We've been to other places where there wasn't even any salt!) The wood-burning fireplace was so nice in the evenings, and the duvets on the bed were cozy. It was really amazing - this place felt like the sort of home we would keep up in the mountains, if we could. We didn't even mind that it rained for an entire day we were there - the kids still sledded at Big Trees State Park (a 15 minute drive) and went tubing at Bear Valley XC Center (a 45 minute drive), and we really enjoyed just hanging around the house as well. If you forget anything, the Big Trees Market is just at the bottom of the hill. This is such a better deal than Tahoe, both in price and attitude. And if you're coming from the Bay Area, the drive is a lot better as well. There is usually a fair amount of snow this time of year (barring drought, or in our case, rain). We will certainly consider coming back again! The only surprise for us was that we had to pack out all our trash - there's no town trash pickup there. It was only a minor inconvenience while packing up, but I imagine it could be a hassle for a larger group or for people staying longer. Maybe there's a town dumpster that Manuel could have directed us to? Other than this very small thing, we have only lavish praise for our host and his wonderful house. Everything was really clean, lovely, and comfortable, and he was easy to be in touch with and work with.

    Lindsay2017-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Manuel's home was our perfect winter retreat. Open, spacious, impeccably clean and warm. Manuel is a wonderful host - he was very responsive and accommodating. We highly recommend staying with Manuel. So much so that we're already planning our trip up in the Spring!

  • Beautiful home at the end of a quiet street with views just like the pictures. Everything you will need is provided and nice extra touches from the owner way beyond any other home we've rented. The layout was perfect for our family as well. Easy communication with the owner too. We love Arnold and hope to stay at this house again soon.

    Stephanie2016-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • One of the loveliest vacations we have had. Manuel has a beautiful house overlooking pine trees, fully stuffed pantry and good WiFi. Very warm host, we look forward to our next stay.

  • Two ladies, ages 85 and 90 and ourselves greatly enjoyed a very relaxing two night stay at the Arnold Mountain Retreat. Everything was perfect ! Neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. We plan on staying next time we are in the area. Best to drive to the house the first time during daylight hours. Thanks Manuel for sharing your beautiful home.

    Steve2016-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house was beautiful and exactly how the pictures portrayed it. Very clean and easy to find anything you may need. I was in love with all the plants and art in the house as well. The large deck overlooking the trees was gorgeous and so relaxing. The house was close to town, a grocery store, coffee shop, a lake and only 15 minutes from Calaveras big Trees state park which was so fun. We had such a wonderful weekend away and would love to stay here again.

On Saturday mornings we have a Farmers Market just three blocks away. For breakfast, you can't beat Buffalo Chips for a classic morning start or if you want something out of the ordinary, walk another block to Element for a little more adventurous and very delicious menu. Chocolatte is the place to be for wonderful pastries and divine coffee, plus homemade chocolates that will stop you in your tracks. For a casual dinner it's back to Buffalo Chips for the best burger and fries in the county or to the Hotel Sutter for ambiance, a fun lobby bar with the coldest tap beer to be found, the Cellar Bar where you'll find live music on the weekends, Trivia on Tuesdays and HDTV for the big game on Sunday. I am excited to share this town I have grown to love so much!
  • What a darling quaint cottage! I loved it upon arrival! Stepping foot into the spacious, light, clean, airy rooms, I immediately felt at home and Judi's friendly welcome was confirmation that I could not have made a better choice. After a comfy nap with the fan making it nice and comfortable, I enjoyed a walk to Main Street and found a luscious meal with savory saffron rice topped with Bourbon Tiger Shrimp and sauteed fresh peaches and fresh sweet corn chutney at the hotel restaurant. You know your hostess has a special knack when she offers home remedies for a little ailing cough! What a blessing this was! She had flyers and restaurant recommendations besides a list of places not to miss. Oh! Do NOT Miss Andrea's Bakery! I'll be back many times just to get to taste of all the delectible delights I saw there. Thank you, Judi

    Janice2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay at Judi's place in Sutter Creek last week. The room is very comfortable and self contained with the en-suite, feeling quite separate from the house. Day time temps were high while I was there but the room was cool, I didn't even need the window ventilator or fan on at night. There were many nice extra touches like plenty of tourist info, toiletries in the bathroom and some local edible treats. It's also a stone's throw from the main street of historic Sutter Creek which is ideal. Judi is a fantastic host, very friendly and accommodating. I rolled up a bit late due to Bay Area traffic and was very limited with where I could get anything to eat, but Judi generously offered me a nice spread of food and we sat and talked for some time over a beer. It was like staying with a friend as Judi (and Quinn!) are so welcoming, would love to stay again!

    David2017-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • I was very impressed with the care Judi's takes of her house and yard. Everything was so clean and well put together. And blessedly cool in the middle of a horrid heat wave. I would recommend it to anybody.

  • we truly enjoyed our stay. Sutter Creek is a sweet town and Judi's is two short block from the main street. The room is comfy and larger than the images show. Even with the trundle out, there is enough room. the morning coffee was the best and homemade granola was yummy. we'll be back.

    henry2017-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • A darling cottage with plenty of space for 2. So clean and cozy! I just curled up with a book during the rain and enjoyed. Next time, I'll bring a bag of microwave popcorn with me. The green grassy hillsides with the streams flowing through, dotted with cattle are an Idyllic scene as one drives the countryside. A place of respite for sure!

    Janice2017-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Judi was a fantastic host! She was super accommodating and friendly. Her dog Quinn is just a lover and wants to play lots. The Main Street of Sutter Creek is a short, beautiful 2 block walk. She gave a great recommendation for breakfast. Definitely recommended a stay here. One of my best hosts yet :)

  • What can I say about the Loft... It is simply outstanding! Very cosy and comfortable. Close to Alpine Lake and White Pines Lake and just two hours from Yosemite Park. Liz is just the perfect host. Very kind, generous and helpful. I definitely recommend the Loft at Spirit Oak Ranch. You will be not disappointed !

  • Great place to stay when visiting Murphy's. Close to Main Street, yet far enough to have some peace and quiet when desired. Great hosts and a really cute and comfy loft to call a home away from home. Would definitely recommend and will return again. DG

  • Liz is a great host, the loft is amazing, very big, comfy and clean. I totally recommend it.

    Matias2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Liz's place for a business trip in the area- it was a perfect fit for us- very clean, modern and updated living space, spacious, fully equipped and large kitchen, beautiful view of the property, and wifi and cable worked great. Location is great also- situated within a few miles from both Angels Camp and Murphys. As animal lovers we really enjoyed the wildlife viewing opportunities on the property- birds, frogs, and goats/dogs/mini ponies galore! a great experience overall- highly recommend to business travelers and vacationers.

    Katie2017-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Liz was very accommodating. The stay was a gift for my adult daughter. Liz kept up with the communication with me until the gift was revealed to my daughter. Liz then communicated with her. Both my daughter and son, who accompanied her, found the experience wonderful. They send a special thanks to Count Chocula, the friendly Lab! This was a great place to stay as they visited the elephant sanctuary nearby and was a great home base for their day trip to Yosemite. Thank you, Liz and family, for your graciousness and hospitality.

The Rustic Cottage is perfect for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers with a cottage separate from the main house. Your room includes a queen size bed, shower, toilet and sink. This cottage is behind the main house and is located on a quiet culdesac, one block from Murphys Main St.
Very close to the town of Murphys, one block. Quite, one block long street, other than neighbors, very little traffic. Close to many wineries within walking distance.
Murphys area boasts two dozen wineries, welcoming visitors year-round for wine tasting & tours. Most have tasting rooms right on Main St. "A stroll down tree-lined Main Street transports visitors back to the mid-1800s with buildings bearing thick stoned walls, iron shutters, and pastoral gardens with white picket fences. Murphys’ rich and colorful past came alive in 1848 when John and Daniel Murphy established a trading post and gold mining operation in the area that is now their namesake. True entrepreneurs with the luck of the Irish, they were a part of the very first immigrant party (Stephens-Townsend-Murphy) to successfully bring wagons over the Sierra in 1844, paving the way for westward migration." -from Murphys Queen of the Sierra History Page
  • We loved Harold's cottage - the location was just perfect to access everything in Murphys. The cottage itself was charming & pleasantly appointed. Harold was a most gracious host who greeted my son & his girlfriend with a great bottle of wine which they really enjoyed. They found Harold himself a very charming host. I expect to be staying at Harold's cottage myself next week. I will have a more up to date review. Thank you Harold for taking care of all our needs. See you again soon. Linda, Reg & Sam

    Linda2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place behind Harold's house. Very close to town. Might not be the best location for 100 degree weather, but other than that it was great!

    Lori2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is lovely and is in walking distance to downtown Murphys. However the toilet isn't very private, it's in the bedroom with just a screen pulled across, this doesn't show on the photos.

    Janet2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • The town of Murphy's was adorable! We so enjoyed the olive oil tasting room. Also must try the spice shop located on a side street. The Ironstone winery is a must see as well. Beautiful grounds and loved the museum on the property .The location of Harold's property was in close proximity to everything we wanted to see.

Victoria is really kind and had everything we needed. Whether you are on a road-trip like us or just want to relax in a quiet neighborhood, it'll be an ideal booking.

  • It was a really great stay in Victoria's house. Everything in the house was well prepared and Victoria is very thoughtful about providing breakfast and things that we needed. The house was really comfortable and beautiful. And there is a beautiful private lake nearby which is good for a dipping in summer.

  • We had a very lovely three-night stay at Victoria's place. The apartment was clean and very well decorated. and equipped with everything we ever needed. It's located in a quiet and scenic neighborhood. The drive to Yosemite Valley was quite scenic and enjoyable as well. Victoria is a very nice and friendly host. She is always willing to help and very interesting person to talk to. She even packed sandwiches, vegetables and trail mix for our hiking trip every day, which was very sweet of her. She made us feel welcomed and taken care of. Altogether, it was a great experience! Highly recommend to all!

  • Colette's guest house was lovely, tidy and in a beautiful area. It was very quiet and calm. Colette attended to all of my needs, including graciously giving me the wifi password when I texted her in the evening, Leaving oj and ice cold water -bubbly or flat, your choice- in the mini fridge, supplying lotion, small toiletries and hair care items in the bathroom and even offering to bring me a bagel and coffee in the mornings! All around, my stay exceeded my expectations; especially in a heat wave that could have made my stay much more miserable (108 degrees!). Thank you again, Colette!

Come enjoy your private guest space (a private bedroom and adjacent bathroom, with private entrance) in our air-conditioned rural home on four oak-covered acres in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains --- minutes from the Goldrush towns of Columbia, Sonora, and Jamestown.
Your guest bedroom has a comfortable queen-size bed (with memory foam topper), chair, chest-of-drawers, closet, wide-screen HDTV with satellite TV receiver and a DVD player. Free Wi-Fi Internet is accessible from the bedroom. The guest bathroom with shower/bath is adjacent to the bedroom. The side entrance of our house is your private entry to your guest space which is separated from the rest of the house by heavy drapery panels across the hallway. Your parking space is adjacent to the side entry.
The Motherlode corridor is one of the few remaining preserved historical areas in California. From our home it is a few minutes to the Goldrush towns of Columbia Historic State Park, Sonora, and Jamestown, more minutes to Black Oak Casino, Murphys, San Andreas, Jackson and Sutter Creek and 1 - 3 hours to Yosemite Valley, Bodie State Park, Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Dodge Ridge Ski Area, Bear Valley Ski Area, Kirkwood Ski Area, South Lake Tahoe, Sacramento or San Francisco. Our property is very rural --- our surrounding neighbors are on 4 - 20 acres and share their property with a few cattle, horses, goats, donkeys, chickens, dogs, cats and a all the variety of wild animals in the Sierras. We even had a mountain lion visit the neighborhood a couple years ago. The fact that you are looking for lodging in our area suggests you already know what the area has to offer --- most likely Yosemite Valley. We can suggest other activities that you may not be aware of: --- Columbia State Historical Park is not only a beautifully preserved Goldrush town but also a living community (most of our local friends live in Columbia). Jeri and I have been coming to Columbia and Calaveras Big Trees since we were children. You pub crawlers can start at one end of Main Street in Columbia at the Jack Douglass Saloon (1857), then amble up the street to the What Cheer Saloon (1857) and later continue up to the St. Charles Saloon (1861), and then repeat. --- Moaning and Mercer Caverns --- Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown is great for train buffs. From Spring to Fall there are steam locomotive rides from the park. A tour of the still-working roundtable is a must. --- Melones Reservoir has great fishing and power boating and is only 4 miles away. --- We can recommend excellent restaurants and saloons in Columbia, Sonora, Jamestown, Angels Camp and Murphys --- minutes away. Sonora and Columbia have three excellent theatre groups. There are several caves to explore in Calaveras and Amador counties. At the appropriate times of the year in the foothills and mountains of the Sierra Nevada Mountains there are many rivers and lakes to raft, kayak, sail, fish, ski or swim in. And the peaks and valleys of the Sierras! ..., I don't have time or space to tell you about my wild, rugged, beautiful Sierras. I hug granite as well as trees.
  • All we can say to start with is - choose to stay with Barry and Jerri. They are wonderful people and amazing hosts. We were welcomed so warmly into their home and we enjoyed their company so much we chose straight away when we woke up in the morning, to stay an extra night. Full of local knowledge and easy to talk to, they made what was going to be a stopover on the way to Yosemite a full experience of that part of California. Highly Recommended. Our favourite Airbnb we have stayed at.

We loved the welcoming committee (Davy Jones and his side kick) And what more can we say hospitality, comfy bed, coffee tea service , information. It's a beautiful home set on a country back road . We visited Yosemite and went river rafting / camping for a few days. They are very kind people and have a passion for the area. Barry and Jerry made us feel welcomed and Davy Jones made us feel loved !

  • We stayed two nights in Barry's house on our way to Yosemite. Barry and his wife Jeri were kind and wonderful hosts. House was nice, clean and everything we needed was available. What made our stay special were Barry's tips about what/when/how to do and where to visit. These tips saved our time and provided new experiences which we wouldn't have discovered otherwise. Highly recommeded, if you plan to visit Yosemite and other wonderful places near Barry's place!

Vintage finds, original paintings along with modern amenities create the perfect atmosphere to enjoy your time in the mountains. If you usually deal with Tahoe traffic when you want a mountain getaway, your journey to and from Arnold will be a refreshing change. It once took us eight hours to get back to SF from Tahoe. There is rarely traffic heading up to Arnold. 2.45 hours from SF and three hours from Marin. Once on Highway 4, the drive is beautiful. * Be sure to leave before or after Bay Area rush hour traffic.
    • Access to THE sweetest private lake with summer-camp like amenities. This is the ONLY area of Arnold with a private lake of this size and amenities. This summer, water temps were 75 degrees on average. Catch and release fishing for Large Mouth Bass (and Bluegill for all the first time fisher people). • Five minutes to Big Trees Market. This market has EVERYTHING. Including an excellent selection of produce that is fresher than what you will find in the bay area. And if you love beer, well, you will need to see the beer fridge for yourself. • 45 Minutes to Bear Valley Ski Resort. I love this ski resort! Amazing runs for all levels and minimal lines. So perfect for kids and plenty of black diamonds for more advanced skiers & snowboarders. While I love Bear Valley for skiing/snowboarding + the Bear Valley Music Fest, it's much more fun to stay in Arnold due to the minimal amenities in Bear Valley. • Did I mention that Bear Vally has one of the largest Cross County ski areas in California? As an adult learning to ski, cross county is for me. AND it is one of the best ways to view the beautiful Sierras in the winter. • Mountain biking: Since I am mostly wimpy, I am not a mountain biking enthusiast, but from what I understand the Arnold Rim Trail offers some prime trails: • 20 Minutes to Murphys. This is my favorite of all the Gold Rush towns on highway 49 (and there are many cool ones to visit). It's such a pretty town and if you love wine this is where all of the region's wineries have tasting rooms. Also a few REALLY good restaurants, a toy store, a book store + IronStone winery that features live concerts will all your favorite bands. • Immediate access to hiking, fishing, rafting, caving and visiting the Gold Rush towns of California yore. • The Arnold Rim Trail is accessible from the LakeMont Pines subdivision- look for point 20 for Cougar Rock: • Big Trees State Park: Thinking about visiting over crowded Muir Woods in Marin? Or Even the Redwoods in Yosemite? Forget all of the other Giant Redwoods. Go to Big Tress instead, and try the North Grove Trail- an amazing but easy trail for all levels and ages.
  • Even though it was only my husband and I, the cabin can very comfortably accommodate plenty more. With the two bedrooms downstairs and the loft and long kitchen table. We went in October to it was very quiet and the reds and yellows of the trees that are mixed in with the pines was just spectacular. What a great time of year to visit! The cabin is very clean, uncluttered, updated, easy to get to and has a wonderful view of the lake which is quite close. Serena is very good at keeping it touch and making sure everything goes perfectly. We loved the location too. Higher up than Murphys so its more forested. Wine tasting, the 'must see' Calaveras Big Trees State park, caverns and the many old time towns are just a few of the things we did along with some hikes. Would highly recommend this lovely place.

  • Serena had great communication with us. She was able to accommodate us on short notice after another Airbnb cancelled with less than 24 hours notice due to her double booking her place. Serena's cabin was nice and comfortable and perfect for our short get away. We definitely would stay here again.

    Karen 2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a fabulous cabin Serena has shared with us. My son and I spent several days enjoying the seclusion, fishing, seeing wild turkeys, deer, etc. Close enough to civilization that we could go pick up a meal if needed, but far enough away that we truly felt as one with nature. Thank you again Serena!

    Ron2017-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great cabin, with access to a lake and private sandy beach nested in the forest! Very scenic with a lot of wild life. The house has two bedrooms downstairs and three more beds plus a kid size bed upstairs. It is very confortable and nicely furnished, the heater is a gaz fireplace, very cozy and relaxing. We really enjoyed our stay there !

    Estelle2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful cabin in the woods with a stunning view. Awesome decor, loved the space and the beds were super comfortable. Dreamy!

    Samantha2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely WONDERFUL stay. This was the first time my family (7 adults and 1 baby) and I have used Airbnb and it was such a pleasant experience. Serena was responsive and made sure that she quickly answered any questions we had (even though there weren't many!). The cabin was cozy and couldn't have been more perfect. It was spacious, clean, and felt like home. There is another cabin between it and the lake but you can see the lake from the cabin. Since there isn't AC, we kept the windows open in the evening and it was perfect by night. If the weather permits it, eat outside on the patio! It's absolutely gorgeous and relaxing. It's tucked away yet very close to a market (Big Trees Market - it had everything!) and a cute little town called Murphys. Highly recommend going there and trying an ice cream shop called JoMa's Artisan Ice Cream - you won't regret it! My family and I loved it when we walked in and were satisfied when we left. If you're looking for a place to be off the grid yet still not be in the middle of nowhere, this is the place for you. So happy to have had such a great first experience and we can't wait to stay here again in the future!

    Kathie2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was great for our group of seven people, four adults and three kids. The proximity to the lake was key, we had a great time hanging out there, playing in the water, and fishing. We cooked all of our meals there and the kitchen was great. Beds are super comfortable! Would definitely stay again.

    Sarah2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Serena's place was beautiful, clean and as described. It is beautifully decorated and well stocked with kitchen supplies. We had a great time hanging out and relaxing by the beach. Would definitely recommend!

This is a 1 bedroom with a queen bed, with 2 sofa beds in living room, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. It is situated in a private wooded setting with its own entrance. It has air conditioning and heat. It is the bottom floor of a house, with easy access to Hwy 88, wineries and skiing.
This home is in a lovely area with skiing, fishing and hiking nearby. Owner is a hiker and can advise on some good trails nearby and in the Sierra's. Lots of wineries nearby in Plymouth and tasting rooms in nearby Sutter Creek and Amador City.
  • Very nice and convenient location, very easy to find. Located in a great area, very spacey! Mickey was very kind and quick to respond.

    Jamie2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Mickey's place is in a beautiful neighborhood area in the Sierra foothills; so peaceful and quiet. The unit is very clean and furnished in coordinating contemporary style. Bed is comfortable; bathroom immaculate. Basic refrig and microwave - nothing fancy so you best plan to go out for meals, and town is a bit of a drive, (thankfully!)

    Catherine2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place in the foothills. Clean, quite and beautiful nature.

    Patrik2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Prior to planning trip details, Mickey was extremely easy/quick to communicate with and very accommodating as I had myself and 5 others stay at her apartment. She provided more than enough sheets/covers/towels and I would say there was enough sleeping space for 6 of us with 2 futons and 1 queen size bed (air mattress was available that we did not use). There is only a microwave, small trash can, and small fridge and no larger sink, trash can, or general kitchen and what not which can make the stay difficult if you require a kitchen or more space. I personally had zero cell reception (Verizon) at the home and so upon arrival, it was difficult to get into contact with Mickey to enter the home in order to get a key and what not. This was a bit frustrating as I did not anticipate not having service at all (though WiFi is available to use once you arrive) and therefore had to drive a few minutes away to get reception and contact Mickey to enter the home. A/C is available which is good to have in the summer/fall heat. The only downside is that you have to contact Mickey to control the A/C as it is connected to the main home I believe. Overhead fans are also available in the rooms to cool down the apt. Mickey's residency was sufficient for 6 mid-20 years olds to stay at for a wedding, however, if you require more space it may not be good for 6! We were cozy and fine with all that was pictured in the description however for our short trip.

    Brittany2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Mickey was a great host. Would come again

    Anne2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • I didn't get a chance to meet Mickey while I was in Jackson but my boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay. We were impressed with her place and the instructions (wifi, keys, etc.) she left for us were easy to follow. Thanks, Mickey!

  • Great private location and excellent value.

Our clean, comfortable cabin in Pioneer has everything you need to enjoy your time in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. Our cabin is a great place to relax and enjoy many activities including hiking, skiing, golfing, gambling, wine tasting and much more. Yosemite is approximately a three and a half hour drive from my cabin.
Our cabin in Pioneer is at a perfect location to enjoy both the Foothills and the High Sierra. The neighborhood is quiet. The elevation of the cabin is 3,100 feet. The elevation is high enough to escape the valley heat but low enough so travel to the cabin in the winter is usually easy. During the winter the cabin occasionally receives significant snowfall. The cabin is close to snow parks and world class skiing at Kirkwood. Gambling at Jackson Rancheria Casino is a short twenty minute drive. The cute towns of Sutter Creek and Plymouth are close by and both have excellent wine tasting. Volcano is a fifteen minute drive, the town has restaurants and live performances in the evenings. Volcano is also close to Black Chasm Cave and Indian Grinding Rock State Park. Bear River Reservoir and Silver Lake are close by. Both offer excellent boating and fishing. Highway 88 is one of the most beautiful highways in the Sierra. There are numerous great hikes close to Carson Pass which is about an hour drive from the cabin. The cabin has everything you need to enjoy your time. 1) The cabin has a stocked kitchen. 2) The deck in perfect for relaxing with plenty of chairs and a propane BBQ. 3) We have satellite TV in the living room and the bedroom. No WIFI sorry. 4) The cabin has a washer and dryer for you laundry. 5) The upstairs loft/bedroom has an air conditioner and heater that works great for ideal sleeping conditions. 6) Downstairs the cabin can be heated using the wood burning stove or cooled using fans. 7) Sleds are in the shed for recreational use. 8) There are videos and games to play located near the TV sets. Bring your cell phones, there is no connected land line. Cell phone reception is marginal but Pinegrove just down the road at the Post Office gets cell reception. I get reception a lot of times on the deck or by the kitchen window inside the cabin. There is no Wi-Fi.
The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet. Many guests enjoy the scenic view from the deck and using the wood burning stove.
  • The cabin was absolutely perfect. Nestled up in the woods and so peaceful. The wood burning stove made it really special, especially with the snow outside! we loved it and would definitely go back!

    jillian2015-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our overnight stay in the pretty little cabin in the woods. The cabin had all of the amenities that we needed and beautiful views from the wraparound deck. It truly was a vacation within our vacation!

    Teresa2014-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Although we did not meet Cheryl, we were warmly greeted by her manager Amy. She was welcoming and very helpful in describing the expectations for our stay. The Cabin is great. Quaint, Quiet, and easy accessible from the main road. We enjoyed our stay, both relaxing in peace, and visiting some local sites - including historic Gold Mining Towns. From Florida we were pleasantly surprised with the 30's weather in the October Mornings.

    steve lori2015-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful 4 night stay in Cheryl's cabin. Very clean with all the comforts of home. We went wine tasting, played golf, played in the snow, took hikes and geocached. A great get away for all. Thanks so much Cheryl. The Lautenbachs

    DONNA2014-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was exactly as advertised! Cheryl and Amy were great communicating details before and during our stay. We had a total of 5 adults for our family Christmas trip and we never felt cramped. The cabin is tucked enough away from Highway 88 that we didn't hear any freeway noises. My parents enjoyed their morning Qi Gong on the porch. We cooked all of our meals in the cabin and enjoyed the cast iron stove for heat. Advice for future guests - if you have 5 guests - I would recommend bringing some of your own towels because it takes a very long time to dry 5 sets of sheets/towels.

    Chi2013-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is lovely - very well taken care of, in a beautiful setting, and very comfortable. Check in and out was easy and Amy, who met us at the cabin, was very friendly and helpful. We would gladly stay here again!

The Studio is what we call it because for many years it was an art studio, a space for creative energy to flow. It's actually a full apartment with kitchen, bath, laundry. It's nestled in the trees in a quiet neighborhood on the Stanislaus River. I can't host pets.
The Studio is in a quiet, family-oriented cul-de-sac neighborhood on the edge of the Wild-and-Scenic Stanislaus River Canyon, close to cross country and downhill skiing, the Sierra towns of Murphys and Arnold, wine tasting, art galleries, and music events.
  • Chris...your place is just awesome. Thanks so much for sharing it with people. We could have sat at that kitchen table looking at the trees for (URL HIDDEN) only complaint is that we were just driving through on a mad road trip and we couldn't stay longer and enjoy it even more! We had everything we needed and it was really, really lovely.

    Cathy2016-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed at Chris' place this past weekend and we loved every bit of it. From the start Chris communicated with us letting us know everything we need to know, made us feel completely confident about finding the place and was overall an amazing host. The studio, although I think of it as a 1 bedroom apartment was very nice, clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get away and explore the area, wants to just relax with nature or you need a stopping point. Thank you Chris for a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back to stay again. Jason & NIki

    Jason2016-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Chris' place. It's within 15-20 minutes of a number of great attractions and restaurants. Attractions: big trees state park, moaning caverns, natural bridges, etc. Restaurants: Magnolia cafe (breakfast/lunch), Alchemy Bar (great craft beers, wine, and dinner), and Rob's Place. The studio is clean, fairly large, and relatively easy to get to. Chris was very understanding and accommodating of all of our needs. Highly recommended! Thanks, Chris!

    Steve2015-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent experience. Chris was very flexible with check in and responsive to our questions during the booking process. Beautiful, mostly private home in an incredible setting. Home was well furnished with everything a short or long term visitor would need. Chris had great ideas for things to do, places to visit, and restaurants to eat at. Will definitely come back!

  • Lovely little hideaway far enough off the highway but close enough to Murphy's for good times. Chris was super nice and very helpful, we look forward to staying there this winter!

    Jonathon "Jay"2016-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed my stay. Waking up to a view of trees was like waking up in my own tree house. Coming from the heart of the San Francisco Mission District I loved how quiet it was. The Studio was clean and we'll organized. It's very close to Arnold and Murphys where one can get supplies. I went to play golf at Sequoia Woods in Arnold and at Saddle Creek in Copperopolis. It was convenient to both. I'm looking forward to going back to explore the area more. Chris was an attentive host without being intrusive.

Our cottage is on the old Main street, lots of historic homes and the 1854 pioneer school house. The cottage was built in the 1960's as a post office for the Douglas Flat community. We bought the property in 1999, renovating the cottage along with the rustic ranch buildings, and lots and lots and lots of landscaping! And of course we have chickens. Fresh eggs are $5 dozen.
  • This is a beautiful cottage. I suggest making coffee and enjoying it on the porch while listening to the birds. Unfortunately it was not easy to walk into Murphy's, so we had to drive. Otherwise, it was perfect!

  • Jared's place is a cozy place away from home. If you are looking for a quiet peaceful get away look no further than this place in Jackson, Ca. The in-law was perfect for my boyfriend and I. A newly remodeled bathroom, new flooring and a massive bar area makes it a great little place. Jackson and the surrounding towns are rich with history of the gold rush. Always a fun little shop or pub when you venture into town.

    Lauren2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect space for a weekend away in the Amador County wine region. The space was clean and spacious with privacy and all the amenities. There was a Keurig with coffee, cream, and sugar provided. The kitchenette was great! The bathroom was bright and the shower had great pressure and plenty of warm water. I would definitely recommend Jared’s space to anyone looking to visit the area.
