“If you fancy a short break and a pint or a glass of prosecco during your sightseeing, then the Eagle is the one for you. Interesting fact: it was the pub where Francis Crick announced that he and James Watson had discovered DNA (and they were right!) The old large pub also includes an RAF bar with graffiti of Second World War airmen covering the ceiling and walls. The Eagle serves a mean fish and chips.”

Restaurant
“2-star Michelin. Modern British. 2018 will be Midsummer House’s 20th anniversary and its history is fascinating. This Victorian villa is on Midsummer Common on the banks of the River Cam amongst a number of Cambridge University Colleges. The service matches the cooking, the wine list is majestic but the bill can be a little wince-worthy. Its style is theatrical and melding of utter technical brilliance with a wild imagination, this restaurant is among the most unforgettably good in Britain today, and it would be unpardonably vulgar to put a price on that. Simply our favourite place to eat in Cambridge for a special occasion - book well in advance!”

“Having walked along the River Cam for a bit why not stop at the Orchard Tea Gardens for a relax, some lunch, or even a cream tea. Really lovely place especially on a dry sunny day when you can sit out on the deck chairs, taking in the atmosphere under the apple trees.”

Café
“Hot Numbers Coffee has 2 locations, both fabulous and as expected very busy. Another family owned and operated indy, the owner is an absolute stand-up gent - Simon is coffee roaster by day, DJ by night. Also an avid collector of vintage motorcycles and coffee machines which are now on display at his roastery in Stapleford Granary, CB22 5BP. Take a little bike ride out to Haslingfield and you can visit his wife Nilu's cafe - the Moringa Tree. Haslingfield is also an idyllic little english village much smaller than Cambridge with church grounds, and a gift shop. Well worth the visit!”

“Actually located here in Newnham on Derby Street. Maison Clement is a brand dreamt up by a Paris-trained master baker whose wish was to serve quality artisinal breads, patisserie and lunch to discerning customers. With an emphasis on ingredient quality, authentic recipes and (most importantly) high baking standards, the brand was devised up to deliver a Parisienne experience in provincial English market towns such as Cambridge. We welcome this latest little addition to the neighbourhood with open arms and empty tea cups!”
