Amazing victorian house in the trees. Drive under a covered bridge and see the house on a hill above the quaint town. A painstakingly preserved and decorated 3 story house with French mirrors, Moroccan lamps, Shaker furniture, and Persian carpets.
As featured in New York Magazine! Amazing historic victorian (ca. 1870) in front of a stream, in Historic West Cornwall, right past the covered bridge, nestled over 3 floors on a small hill in the middle of the trees. Retaining every historical feature. Oozes of charm & style. With a farmers market right across the street in summer and skiing right in town at Mohawk Mountain in winter. The house has amazing furniture retaining a great historic feel while adding a lot of charm and style. It's perfect for artists and couples wishing a romantic get away from the city. The house is on 3 floors overlooking the stream and town, right over the covered bridge and close to restaurants, a coffee shop, antiques, and the Housatonic River. With a great garden and huge stone steps. Enjoy views of the creek from the front porch and from patio on the second floor. Located in a historic West Cornwall, right past the covered bridge on the Housantic River about 2 hours from NYC. Accommodates 2-4 people comfortably in 2 bedrooms in 1,400 square feet of space over 3 floors. - 2 bedrooms - note guest bedroom has a heavy linen curtain separating it for the living space but not a door. - 1 old claw foot bathtub and separate toilette. No shower. Please note the bathtub is separated from the bedroom with a linen curtain. Again no door. Also it is accessed via the bedroom. - 1 main living room with huge cathedral ceiling - 1 historic kitchen -- 1930s stove not working. Kitchen is rustic with found wood shelves and original 1890s open shelves. We have a toaster oven and induction hot plate for cooking. Full size refrigerator. - 1 - dining room, and fantastic day bed - 1 large front porch and patio on the second floor Pets are considered with security deposit. No smoking. Linens/towels included. Washer/dryer. From the May 20th 2013 New York Magazine article "Even the drive to this three-story 1870s Litchfield County Victorian is picture perfect: Pass through a covered bridge and you'll spot it peeking through the leaves, perched on an oak-dotted hillside. The two-bedroom, one-bath house has undergone a top-to-bottom interior restoration and a systems overhaul, which means you can bask in period charm (bay windows, a claw-foot tub, exposed-beam ceilings) without forgoing the ease of modern conveniences (reliable plumbing and electricity). The décor is a shabby-chic mix of plush velvet chairs, Shaker furniture, perfectly weathered Oriental rugs, and knickknacks from local haunts like Michael Trapp's antique shop (7 River Rd.; (phone number hidden)), just up the road. Fill your days with walks to the nearby stream, afternoon dips in Cream Hill Lake, and kayaking excursions on the Housatonic River." The house is set on 1 acre, on small hill in front of a creek. About 3/5 the property is wooded on a hill. The sloped nature of the land combined with the woodland and water edges give the property a private feeling in summer, but with the walkable amenities of a country hamlet (post office, restaurant, café, antique shop – all in view of the covered bridge). Nearby are the historic towns of Kent, Lakeville, Litchfield, Great Barrington, and Millerton.
West Cornwall is right over the covered bridge. There is a farmers market across the street, Wandering Moose Cafe for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and you are a short drive from at least 5 great towns. Lot's of great skiing right in town and also at Catamount and Butternut!
  • The house was perfect for what we wanted,

  • The house was incredible. Amazing details and great renovation to keep the old parts of the house. Super cozy and private. Highly recommend trying to get a booking at RSVP for dinner which is less than a 5 min walk away so we could stumble home after the amazing food.

  • This house is so cute and the interiors are beautifully and very creatively done. The owners obviously love their place, which you can feel. They weren't in town but Mary was enormously kind and helpful with any questions I had. She even brought me her hairdryer to use, not because I asked for hers but because I was looking around for one. Adore the clawfoot tub, master bedroom and even the second bed was such a cozy little cave. The living room also is very cozy and love their choice in furnishing and decor. I'm so curious what the house is like in summer as it's winter at the moment. I'm sure it's even more fabulous to have all the windows open and greenery all around. Really appreciate the fantastic speakers for music, something you don't always think about when traveling but so appreciate having if available. You have to park in the post office's lot bc the house doesn't have it's own driveway so make sure your car is all the way to the back as far left and close to the bushes as possible to avoid getting trapped behind other cars during the day (and also avoid the stink eye from the post office lady).

  • This house is very special. It is an art piece. It is well decorated with a sophisticated style that inspires. The location is special, and pretty ideal for a weekend getaway with so many activities within a very short distance, many of them walking distance. The town is adorable, with the covered bridge as the centerpiece. There are shops, restaurants, river rafting, strolling and hiking without having to travel far from home. I do however caution people to read the entire description of the house carefully, and review the photos. I can understand why this house would not be for everyone. If you are expecting a sterile, hotel environment, this is not it. We found this house provided a unique travel experience that will be remembered always.

  • We had a really lovely stay at Larry's extraordinarily charming and unique "Victorian in the Trees". The house was the perfect balance between spacious and cozy for three of us (myself, husband and 4yo daughter) and we were thoroughly inspired by its artistry; not your average AirBnB! Getting in and out of the house was a breeze and we had no communication issues or concerns during our visit. Eating at the picnic table in front of the house allowed us to fully enjoy the fresh air and beautiful landscaping. We took advantage of the local amenities including the farmers market, Wandering Moose cafe, and river walking under the covered bridge. We also explored several local swimming and hiking spots. All in all an excellent reprieve from city living! Thank you.

  • We had a great weekend getaway. The house, as the photos show, has a beautiful interior and decor. The house is also situated above a lovely creek. There are lawn chairs outside the master bedroom which we took advantage of at sunset. The town is very charming and there is some great hiking near by in Husatonic State Park. Although it wasn't a problem, we were a bit surprised to see there wasn't a shower, but a bath. It was a wonderful weekend and we highly recommend the Victorian in the Trees!

  • Few places have felt as alive as this one. Sitting above this cute little hamlet it truly transports you to another mindset - and perhaps another time. Welcoming and wonderfully curated it feels like a home that wants you to be there. A very unique and special stay.

    Eric2016-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • The house is truly a gem. My partner and I wanted to escape for a few days and get some work done in a quiet, beautiful setting and we picked the perfect place. The house is very unique and decorated with beautiful antiques and shaker furniture. It is rustic yet cozy and is an ideal getaway for a couple (but there is room for others as well!) Mary, the house care taker, is very friendly and available to help with anything. The Wandering Moose Cafe down the street has delicious sandwiches and there are plenty of other awesome restaurants in the area. With a big comfy bed, a stand alone bath tub, plenty of places to lounge and work, the river nearby, hiking trails, and the covered bridge, this house is ideal for unwinding and clearing your head. Would definitely visit again!

Antique Cape in beautiful Falls Village, Litchfield County, CT. Escape the city for this charming, comfortable get-away near all the best that Litchfield County has to offer. Relax on the screen porch or play croquet on the lawn, cook a meal in the well-equipped kitchen or enjoy a glass of wine on the back patio. Three bedrooms with fresh new linens offer plenty of room for up to 6 guests.
  • Such a great home, much more spacious than he pictures. Clean, well considered, and charming. Cannot wait to go back, in any season.

    Emily2017-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Katie's beautiful home was a dream. We arrived at the house, an antique farmhouse of New England style, which was ensconced in blooming hydrangeas, and whose neat stone, and brick-lined paths wind invitingly around the house and felt like we had stepped into the pages of the Secret Garden. The house did not disappoint in any way, shape or form and our stay here was golden. Katie has appointed the rooms beautifully and tastefully from top to bottom with crisp bed linens, Turkish towels, and a blend of old and new furniture pieces in keeping with the feel of this genteel, centuries-old farmhouse. She was generous and thoughtful in all of the details, from decor to utility, and has obviously put care into the preservation of this house which has wide wooden floorboards and original iron door latches on almost all the doors black-smith-fashioned. The house itself easily accommodated our family of four (with room for more), both younger and older, and featured space for everyone to spread out comfortably as well as places to gather, including a breakfast nook, a screened in porch with room to both curl up with a book and where we ate several meals, a moss-covered, flagstone patio with a BBQ and outside dining table where we ate several other meals, multiple bedrooms and a well-proportioned, sociably sized kitchen. We stayed in watching movies on the day it rained--Netflix and DVD and Wifi are all available for those who need to be connected. We cooked all our meals in the well-equipped kitchen--we typically spend serious time in the kitchen and found nearly nothing wanting here! (Grocery stores small and large are all nearby.) We spent the sunnier days outdoors on the lawn playing croquet or soccer and generally enjoying the relaxing and verdant scenery that this beautiful property offered at every turn. The kids wanted to swim so we found a small lake at Mt. Tom, a state park in Litchfield just 30 minutes away, where they could swim and hike etc. As far as hosts, Katie was all you could ask for. While she wasn't on or near the property, she connected us with her caretaker and was generally available to quickly answer any questions or address our needs as they arose. We felt very much taken care of and free to fully relax and enjoy being out of the city--thank you again for everything Katie! We will certainly be back for another visit in the future!

    Thea2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The review by Thea sums it up so well. Not much more to be said. Will stay here any chance I get.

    Jay2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Katie was an excellent host - very responsive, great recommendations etc. I don't think the photos do it justice. It's a lot more spacious. The screen in porch is lovely and we spent a lot of time out there. This is a great property if you're looking to get a away from the city, read a few books, etc.

    Rachael2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Katie's house is absolutely wonderful. Two friends and I were looking for a quiet place to stay for the weekend and the house didn't disappoint. The pictures can't do the place justice. It's a charming old house and Katie has done a great job keeping it up. The beds are comfortable, the linens were clean, and the kitchen had whatever you could want if you wanted to cook. I got so much reading done in the mornings while drinking coffee and sitting in the kitchen! It's a peaceful place. Katie was a stellar host. She replied to messages quickly, check-in and out was easy, and her recommendations for local coffee and food were great. Bob, the caretaker who looks after the place when Katie is gone, was called out to the house after we accidentally set off the alarm in the middle of the night (completely our fault) and it's worth saying that he was incredibly nice and helpful. Everything about our stay at Katie's was exceptional. We were sad to leave and would highly recommend Katie's house.

    Matthew2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Katie‘s house is simply magical. It is a wonderful place to go if you like historical homes, beautiful scenery and a relaxing setting. We enjoyed reading on the porch, cooking in the kitchen and exploring the nature surrounding the place. I would highly recommend this location and home, particularly in the fall with a lot of fall activities nearby. The house had everything you needed and was beautifully decorated!

Welcome to our home, we are in the hamlet of Amesville in Salisbury. Built in 1860 and recently lovingly renovated by us as our family weekend getaway, we are 1 minute from Great Fall's waterfall on the Housatonic River, The appalachian trail goes right by the house, our home is perfect for couples, families or just a group of friends that want to get away from it all, we are dog friendly, no Cats (sorry). All we ask is that you are respectful of our home , we look forward to welcoming you.
we are part of a small village called Amesville, it's super quiet and peaceful but only 10 minutes away from Salisbury village centre, you are also close to Millerton in NY and Sheffield in MA super close to skiing as well
  • Gorgeous home. Beautiful scenery. Wonderful hosts. Great location - we came for a long weekend to ski in the Berkshires and we're able to access the mountain and town. We had a wonderful time!

    Carrie2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great special home, new modern bathrooms, fully outfitted kitchen, very clean and welcoming. Marries a modern sensibility with the charm and antiques the area is known for. feelin Great, cozy gathering spaces and a wonderful location for a walk or to drive to lakeville, falls village, Salisbury etc. With a nice peaceful area. They provided a grea guide with tips about the area. Awesome location for Lime Rock Park though I hate to say it because we'd choose tonstya again.

    Emily2017-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • The home was impeccably appointed, clean and in a rustic neighborhood but close to many area amenities. Kevin is a great host. Everything was ready for us upon arrival. No surprises! We had a wonderful stay and definitely will book again in future.

  • I loved the house. It is so beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable with wonderful linens. The whole house has great energy. Kevin and Joe were so kind and helpful. The house is located in the prettiest location with wonderful walking and hiking right outside the door. Everything about this place was perfect. I highly recommend.

    Anna2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • 7 of us stayed in the house and it was really comfortable. Everybody had a nice time from my 3 yr old niece to my 70 yr old farther. We were there for a weeding and I can safely say we had the best accommodation out of all the weeding party. Highly recommend this house.

    john mark2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a truly delightful stay at Kevin and Joe's home. We visited for a wedding at the Ragamont House. While it was a short stay, we felt instantly at home. The house is very comfortable, decorated with tremendous character; there's lots of sun with a beautiful yard and it's totally equipped for families. The play/toy room was the most used room in the house. Kevin and Joe are top-notch hosts--the instructions for getting there were crystal clear, the home was spotless and the little extras they did for us really made this a special stay. We would love to visit again if they'll have us.

    Alyson2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to stay! Everything was perfect from the welcoming note from Kevin and Joe to the delightful play room for my granddaughter! We would definitely recommend this beautiful, beautiful home !!

Small comfortable place close to Lime Rock Park and Ski Butternut. 3 bedrooms. Including one master with full bath. Lots of great restaurants in the area and places to hike or take out your canoe or kayak.
This home is a wonderful place to relax. In the summer the backyard has flowers and a vegetable garden, picnic table with umbrella, large fire pit and a bench. I have a small fish pool that has a fountain and gold fish that love to be fed. Please don't let your children or pets play in it though!! There are two grills you are welcome to use, charcoal or propane. In the winter the wood stove in the living room has a window that you can watch the fire crackle from.. I wish I had a real fire place because I love to watch the fire :) but this is the best I could do. I have a small wood stove in the kitchen which heats up real quick which I like to start on those chilly mornings while I make my coffee and get ready for work. The front porch that you see in the picture has a futon. It's nice to sit there with a glass of wine in the evening when the bugs keep you from going outside. You can even sleep out there if you'd like and listen to the peepers and crickets or the rain :) You'll have to come by to see the rest! I hope you will. I know you'll love the area! Cheers! Gabriele
Sand Rd. is a rural road with a farm and an operating quarry on it. It is a nice flat road if you'd like to bring your bike. The town of North Canaan is about 3 miles north and south you'll find the center of Falls Village. Not much going on there but the Falls Village in is a great restaurant and there are nice walking trails by the Housatonic River. The Great Falls of Falls Village are also a sight to be seen! Especially in the Spring or after a good rain. The AT goes through this area and the Northwest Corner of CT has some gorgeous views!
  • We never met Gabriele in person but she gave us security code to enter house and was great with easily available for suggestions and questions. Older house was well maintained and all furnishings were older items that added charm to interior. Older wall maps of surrounding states in New England also interesting. Not a place for all Bnb travelers, but great for those who want peace and quiet, and enjoy driving to nearby towns for meals, attractions (Norman Rockwell museum, Tangelwood).

    Bob2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • I spent two nights here for business travel. Everything was clean & cozy. There is a nice closed in front porch to hang out on after a long day. It is close to a nearby waterfall and a few good hiking spots. I will definitely be staying here again the next time I travel for work in this area. Thank you Gabriele!

    Benjamin2017-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Charming and rustic home close to Lime Rock for race weekends. Gabriele was a great host and the house was very clean and comfortable! Would definitely stay again.

    Vicki2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Cozy Cottage during this past weekend, which lived up to its name. It is larger than it seems and there are many places to spread out and hang out, but it still retains a sense of coziness. We were met by Gabriele, who patiently waited for us even though we were running late. We were at a wedding and didn't have a lot of time, but did take advantage of delicious raspberries growing right outside the door! Gabriele is a thoughtful host and has coffee, tea, cream, bagels and cream cheese, as well as fresh fruit for guests. I never sleep well in a new place, but Denis slept soundly and found the bed comfy. As others have pointed out, the house is old and some things are a little worn out, but it has a fun decor. If you are looking for something brand new and modern, this is not it. If you are looking for a place that's warm and homey, easy to get to at a very affordable price, stay at Gabriele's Cozy Cottage.

    Marjorie2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely comfortable and spacious home. Great location for a quick getaway. There were many goodies that Gabriele had left for us to use; she was also super prompt in her communication. We would definitely stay here again!

    kala2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic and charming home close to Lime Rock for race weekends. Gabriele is a lovely host and the house was comfortable and clean. We'd definitely come back!

    Vicki2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Much better than I even expected. I highly recommenced.

    Nicholas2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very quiet and restful. We used two beads and both were very comfortable. The home is more of a cottage, one of the bathrooms has a claw foot tub, which can also be used as a shower. The second bath is more modern. The rooms are large and open. Very restful, like you went to grandmas, but missing the home cooking, unless you do it yourself. Lots of things to do in the area, restaurants are good and the host is very helpful. Weekends are fine, but the towns and tourist sites in the area would be even better during the week. Less crowded, restaurants practiclly to yourself. Would stay again!

Blackberry River Inn is a unique B&B with the main house being built in 1763. Located on 27 acres in lovely Norfolk, CT, with a swimming pool as well as fireplaces. Breakfast is made to order and part of the room rate, of course (being a B&B).
Our main house was built in 1763. In addition to the main house, we have the Carriage House and The Cottage, on 27 acres of lovely Connecticut countryside property. There is also a pool (unheated).
Norfolk was founded in 1758. Lovely CT countryside. Less than 30 minutes drive from Lime Rock, Music Mountain, Great Barrington, Lakeville, Salisbury. 5-minute drive to Infinity Hall & Bistro (Norfolk), Yale School of Music, Wood Creek Bar & Grill...
  • Inn is beautiful and historic. The grounds are lovely to walk and I was greeted by the songs of countless birds. Breakfast was delicious. The room was spacious, comfy, and perfect for a night's rest. Thank you for everything.

    Seth2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a wonderful stay here. It was very close to both Haystack Mountain and Campbell Falls -- both places we were looking to venture during our stay in Norfolk, CT. Our room was extremely charming, private and quiet. It was also stocked with everything we needed: towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner. The public areas were extremely charming as well -- and my husband and I enjoyed playing guitar together in one of the living room areas. There are also a few pianos available, lots of board games and DVDs to choose from. We really had a great time and would love to bring our family next time as there are quite a few rooms here. Thank you T.W.

  • Very nice B&B - quiet, though there's a piano, guitar, and DVDs for guests to use. Nice pool (unheated - great for hot summers), pretty lawn, friendly staff, tea and coffee always ready, and very nicely decorated. Comfortable bed, clean - will stay there again! (recommend the Wood Creek restaurant a few miles East of the B&B).

    Jurgen2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in Norfolk with TW and his gorgeous, kind dog Tabu. The inn is beautiful and exquisitely (URL HIDDEN) was kind enough to allow us to arrive a little later than expected and upgrade our room to the Main House, which is fabulous. He was also a great tour guide for the local area, telling us where to dine and hike. I'd recommend the Blackberry River Inn to anyone looking for a lovely weekend in the Berkshires!

Our place is near Salisbury, Hotchkiss, and Indian Mountain Schools, Lime Rock Race Track, Music Mountain and other outstanding music venues, hiking, craft breweries. Great launching point for Berkshires historic sites and cultural events. Extras include a futon sofa, a reading loft, and an enclosed upstairs porch for lounging. Our place is well suited for families, groups, and couples. We are in the midst of landscaping projects to enhance the wooded beauty of our mountainside property.
  • The house is really beautiful and the reading nook is even better than it looks in the pictures. Close to Canaan and a quick drive to all sorts of hiking and outdoors activities.

  • I rented Dick and Lynn's beautiful country retreat for a weekend with friends. We had an awesome time cooking meals in the well-supplied kitchen and tending the fireplace together. The space is excellent for group or family hangouts because of the size and layout. There are also three full baths and very comfortable beds. Nice, fluffy towels and new, clean linens and blankets were a treat. The home is built by the owners and shows through extreme charm and specialness, like details a cookie cutter home would never have. It was fun to discover these charms over the weekend! This is an unkind and connect with friends or family-type retreat. The hosts have books and puzzles available as well as access to firewood for the living room fireplace. It was easy to find with Lynn's directions and the hosts were very supportive, accommodating, and responsive.

  • This house was great. It has a large living area, kitchen, dining area, and was very spacious for six guys. There are plenty of books to read, a nice fire place (with wood provided!), and its within easy driving distance to great hikes. It feels fairly secluded (you can see the house next door in the winter), but its still close to town if you need to get something. There was great communication and it was nice not having to wash the sheets when we left! I would definitely recommend this house to a friend!

The room is available with a choice of two single beds or one king size bed. Walking distance to Appalachian trail and surrounded by great biking and cycling roads. Walk to coffee on weekends. 20 minutes by car to Great Barrington, Mass. I do have a dog and two cats. Informal. Great for hikers, cyclists, or accommodations for local events. Breakfast is simple - coffee or tea, toast, jam and yogurt.
  • Laura has a super quaint and adorable home that was so wonderful to spend a night in. We wished we had booked more nights! The bed was very comfortable, everything we needed was easily accessible and Laura, though away for the night, was very accessible when I had questions.

    Simone2016-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We truly enjoyed our stay with Laura! She was flexible with us as our arrival time fluctuated and was waiting with some snacks for our young daughter. When we got settled, she served us some tea and wine, which was much appreciated after our day of adventuring. Her dog, Lucy, is the sweetest and was also very attentive! After a nice chat about the village, we turned in. The room was very large and the bed was super comfy! We slept very well. In the morning Laura offered us a nice breakfast including local goat cheese which was delicious! After breakfast, Laura showed us around town and took a walk with my daughter and I to the local section of the Appalachian Trail. She also took out to the Falls, which were just beautiful! Laura made us feel very much at home and gave us some drinks for the road. Her house was charming and we were so glad to have the privilege to stay there and meet Laura!

  • We needed a place to stay nearby to a wedding we were attending and Laura's place was perfect. She was very accommodating and the house was charming. The bed was large and very comfortable with lots of pillows and bedding to make it cozy. It was great to have conversation with Laura and her family in the morning over tea.

  • Staying at Laura's Farmhouse was very enjoyable. The views at her home and on the local roads were beautiful. She was a gracious host, providing a filling breakfast before our Norfolk trail run. We would stay here again.

  • Clean, cozy, quiet and comfortable. Nice décor in a pretty country setting. Pleasant conversation with host, Laura, who had a warm fire going in the living room wood stove and a fresh pot of coffee ready for us in the morning. Wonderful king-sized bed, quilt and lots of comfy pillows made for a peaceful night’s sleep. We shall return.

  • Laura was such a sweet host. Very welcoming and made us feel right at home. She let me disappear in my room and sleep and at the same time showed my friend around town. Very sweet soul. She even let us use her laundry for our clothes. She made us delicious breakfast (to go) even though we were on the run early the next morning. The house does have animals, so not for those with allergies. That was totally my mistake but my friend was a trooper and stayed the night anyway. Laura made our stay worth it.

  • Laura is the best hostess! She took a genuine interest and even went out to dinner with me. I so enjoyed her company and conversation. Her house is beautiful, and she made me feel completely at home. Thank you, Laura, for a delightful stay.

  • Everyone should take the opportunity to stay in this beautiful and welcoming space. Clifton is the definition of a thoughtful host and his attention to detail and just kind, open hearted hospitality is enough to make this traveller stay here again! What a great space and welcome.

  • Clifton's home/church/studio is a gem. He is a talented artist whose work lines the walls of his home. The furniture is beautiful and mostly antiques. Clifton makes the best homemade rustic bread for breakfast and delicious coffee which we enjoyed thoroughly. He was also very helpful regarding questions. The beds were extremely comfortable. Great area, surrounding nature! Highly recommend!

  • This old church is still very authentic on the inside. I had the small bedroom off the entrance and it was perfect for me traveling by myself. A small room but very cozy with a closet for hanging jackets or dresses. The bed and linens were very comfortable. The beautiful stain glass windows added to my positive experience. Clifton was very helpful during check in and a good communicator throughout my stay.

  • This cottage was the ideal "home base" for our hike up Bear Mountain. I stayed there with three friends. There are three bedrooms, so two of us shared a room that had two twin beds (which we expected from the pictures and was no problem.) There is another room with bunk beds and a nice master bedroom with a queen bed and it's own bathroom. Kathy and Tom are very good hosts, friendly, but not intrusive. We had the house to ourselves and they just checked in quickly on our arrival and the second day. Kathy left brownies, a few beers and some breakfast food for us, which was a pleasant surprise.

  • What a lovely house and hosts!... Kathy and tom were super kind and helpful, the house really quite and relaxing- excellent space, and an instant home feeling. Much recommended!

  • I had a great stay at Kathy and Tom's place. Kathy greeted me when I arrived and showed me around the house. It was very cozy and comfortable. There was a nice screened in porch where you could sit and look out at the beautiful property. Would definitely recommend!

  • Great time. The house is well located just a couple minutes from downtown Canaan. The house was clean and Kathy was easy to coordinate with.

  • Wonderful place with everything we needed and more. We were attending a wedding at the Lion Rock Farm in Sharon CT with a dinner the night before at the Egremont Country Club in Great Barrington MA. The groom provided a shuttle from their suggested hotel to the wedding, an hour away, so we looked for and found a place half way between instead. We also wanted a place where we didn't have to climb upstairs to the bedrooms, because my wife has trouble climbing, and then we found this entire house on one floor, where our daughter, her husband and our grandchildren could be together. The items provided were more than expected, including an enclosed area where the grandkids could romp around. Nice stores not far away for food and stuff, but the hosts provided a lot of food and books to read. Our group of 6 had a wonderful time. HIghly recommend it to all.

  • Great location and convenient for our family stay. Hosts very flexible and accommodating to our schedule. Listing accurately described.

  • This is a beautiful midcentury modern house, in a beautiful setting - almost park-like, with great views out the large living-room windows. Kathy came up to check on us and make sure we had everything we needed. If it hadn't been the middle of summer, we would have loved to build a fire in the terrific living-room fireplace!

    Jon2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying here on a fall foliage + hiking trip! Both Kathy's house and her hosting made us feel instantly at home. Kathy's house is simultaneously spacious, cozy and architecturally impressive. The living room has a working fireplace and nice big windows; we stayed up playing board games and lounging on comfy furniture by the fire. The house can easily sleep 4-6 guests, the heat kept us warm even on a below-freezing October night, and the 2 bathrooms had plenty of hot water for showers. We also arrived to a pre-stocked coffee maker, homemade treats and a list of local hiking and sightseeing options. Kathy (who lives next door, across a good-sized lot) checked in by text throughout the weekend to make sure we had everything we need. We hiked up Haystack Mountain through the fall leaves to an amazing 360-degree view. We also spent time around the corner in Canaan's little downtown, which has an exciting brunch spot on the weekends ("Plantin' Seeds" -- you pay what you want in donations for a fantastic farm-to-table meal), and other great deli and food options. Other notes: - The house can be a little hard to find at night (when we first arrived), but Kathy talked us through it easily by phone. - Cell reception at the house was good, at least on our ATT and Sprint networks. - As of our trip there wasn't wi-fi access at the house, but we were able to use our phones as hotspots. This didn't matter much since we were mainly there to get AWAY from the internet for a weekend! All in all, I've been doing fall trips through the Hudson Valley and Berkshires for several years, and this was one of the best experiences I've had. Drive 10 minutes in any direction and you'll find breathtaking fall vistas, along with cozy towns full of interesting local restaurants and stores. And Kathy's house was just such a warm, welcoming and relaxing spot to come home to every night. I highly recommend it!

  • My girlfriend and I came to Falls Village for a little weekend getaway and found Marlee's place and it looked great. It was amazing little place perfect for two people with a kitchen bathroom and loft bed area. There's a perfect back porch where we had a peaceful breakfast one morning. It's close to Salisbury and Canaan attractions. All and all it was a perfect weekend away. Thanks Marlee! Will most certainly return!

She also left breakfast items for us. The cottage was perfect, clean, cozy, very quiet, private and just right for two. We couldn't have asked for more! Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a retreat in the country :)

  • We were attending a wedding nearby and needed a place to get ready beforehand and rest up after a night of celebrating, and this place rose to the occasion. About 10 minutes from the venue at the Interlaken, but 1/3 the price! The accommodations weren't exactly pristine, nor were they roomy (especially the bedroom, where slanted ceilings leave little room to stand), but to have a place to lay your head it did the job. The stocked fridge was a nice touch. We never interacted directly with Marlee, but she had clearly set the place up for us well and we met the welcoming neighbor upon arrival.

Enjoy the peace and quiet and relax in our cozy, renovated and open-plan cottage in Salisbury, CT. Walk 2 minutes to the Great Falls on the Housatonic River and the Appalachian Trail. Drive 5-15 minutes to cafes, restaurants and cinemas in Falls Village, Salisbury and Lakeville, CT and Millerton, NY.
Historic Renovated Cottage in Salisbury, CT, located in a tiny hamlet on a quiet road, steps to the Housatonic River and the Appalachian Trail. Enjoy the peacefulness of hearing no traffic, just the sound of the waterfall on the river. The cottage has a brand new interior, completely renovated in 2013: New bathrooms, kitchen, heating system, washer/dryer. Hardwood floors throughout. Exposed beams. 3 bedrooms upstairs, one with king bed, one with a twin-bunk-bed and one with a double air mattress. 1 full bathroom upstairs with brand new fixtures, including claw-foot soaker tub. The main floor is more modern and open plan, with exposed beams and lots of light. New half bathroom and washer/dryer are off the mud-room. The kitchen, dining room and living room flow together and are light and airy. Brand new gas stove, fridge and dishwasher. New kitchen units with granite counter-tops. The living room has a cable TV, Roku and Wifi. 5 minutes drive to Salisbury and Lakeville, with lovely shops, supermarket and galleries. 10-15 minutes drive to Millerton, NY and 30 minutes to Great Barrington, MA. Walk 2 minutes from the house to the Appalachian Trail and the Great Falls of the Housatonic River. Walk 15 minutes over the bridge to Falls Village, where you can have breakfast at the Toymaker's Cafe, or lunch and dinner at the Falls Village Inn. Near to Salisbury, Hotchkiss and Berkshire Schools. Also Lime Rock Park. The house is located down a shared old gravel road, where there is a flower farm at the end. Neighbors' houses are visible in this historic hamlet, but it is very quiet and friendly. Long deck along the front of the house. Plenty of adirondack chairs and seating out in the larger lawn area, away from the house. Come enjoy the peace and quiet and leave your car in the driveway, as you can have a weekend of walking from your doorstep!
Our neighborhood of Amesville is very quiet, historic and unspoiled. A handful of little wooden cottages, colonial homes and tiny roads hug the slope leading down to the Great Falls and the mighty Housatonic River. There's a reason why the Appalachian Trail runs through here! It's a pleasure to walk, run or bicycle around the tiny roads, and you can walk to Falls Village on the other side of the river to grab a meal at the Falls Village Inn. If you want to socialize or experience more action, it's a 10 minute drive to Salisbury and Lakeville, with a beautiful town beach (swimming!), lovely shops, restaurants (including the White Hart Inn), a supermarket and galleries. It's a 15 minute drive to Millerton, NY, which has an art-house cinema, Irving Farm Coffee, Harney Teas & Tea Room, a rail trail, a bookstore and many antique shops. It's a 30 minute drive to Great Barrington, MA. Near to Salisbury, Hotchkiss and Berkshire Schools. Also Lime Rock Park. The house is located down a shared old gravel road, where there is a flower farm at the end. Neighbors' houses are visible in this historic hamlet, but it is very quiet and friendly.
  • Beautiful and quiet place. Very modern and bright. It's a great house to relax and enjoy nature - the perfect homebase after or before a trip to New York.

  • The cottage was very nicely furnished, had a nice location near the river (a short walk) and the property was perfectly clean and very well maintained. The king bed in the main bedroom was absolutely awesome! Michele was easy to communicate with and the entire process ran very smoothly. It would have been nice to have some outdoor furniture for the deck so that we could enjoy the beautiful fall evenings, but that was obviously a fairly minor thing.

    John2013-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Michele has a great spot in NW CT for anyone looking for country quiet and relaxation. It's a short drive or nice walk down to the Housatonic river (where you can put in a canoe or kayak if you bring one), and you can even hear the water going over the dam from the deck of the house at night--nature's white noise machine. The kitchen is excellent for cooking, and the place is very newly renovated and super clean, the master king bed was comfy but soft. We had great weekend here and spent Saturday at nearby Lime Rock. Note that grocery and wine stores are several miles away on back roads to get to Salisbury or Canaan, but we stopped on our way in to pick up supplies.

    Geoffrey2013-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a great vacation at the house from Michele and Dan. Communication went smooth, easy and fast and was very personal. The house is beautiful, quiet, modern but very cozy and located near to the great nature. Since we came directly from the international airport in New York, we were extremely happy, that everything was perfectly clean and nicely prepared for our stay when we arrived. If we look again for a house to rent in the area of Salisbury, we would be pleased to come back. Thank you Michele and Dan

    Josephine2014-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • You should first know Michele has impeccable taste and her attention to detail exceeds that of any other host. I am a professional photographer and understand how well pictures can glorify a house, but the photographs on the site are a perfect rendering. I spent a month there to get away from Manhattan and work. My boyfriend came along and fell in love with the kitchen-even though he doesn't cook. Well at least in the beginning of the month. He was so inspired that he taught himself how to cook and I gained 8lbs this month. Other than weight gain from Joey's cooking it was sometimes inconvenient that the little bridge was out, but it's nestled inside such beautiful land that the extra driving is nice. Oh, and yes Amazon will deliver anything to you there. The heat was wonky, but Michele seemed more concerned about our comfort than me and she had it fixed ASAP. This house is also perfect for a small family. I wish I could live there full time. Thanks, Michelle!!

  • Felicia and Joel have a wonderful property in a wonderful corner of the world. We are so thankful that they were willing to share it with us! The apartment is charming. Private from the main house and easy to access allowing us to come and go for 14 nights. The interior is very nicely appointed with high end appliances and features that make the experience even more comfortable. The deck boasts views of the spacious backyard and magnificent forest in the short distance. We highly recommend this property for a long weekend or extended stay. • Felicia, Joel and Clio were exceptional hosts. The moment I arrived, I was greeted by their black lab Clio and I knew I would feel right at home. Their property is amazing and the carriage house is perfect for anyone wanting to relax in a zen environment. The deck overlooking their property was the perfect setting for morning coffee or evening star gazing. If you are looking for a place to unwind, enjoy hiking or looking to improve your creative writing skills, this is the place. The kitchen is well equipped and they even provided organic coffee for the French Press and organic lemonade which I am now hooked on. Shower was great and linens and towels were of excellent quality. It is also close to Lime Rock Park if you are in the area for a race weekend. I'm planning on visiting before next years race weekend to enjoy all the features the area has to offer on a non working weekend including the use of the bikes they have for use. Thank you for being such great hosts!

This warm country home in the town of Falls Village provides an ideal private setting for Hotchkiss family visits. Located in the foothills of the Berkshires, there are plenty of activities and restaurants nearby. Endless hiking & biking trails, skiing at Butternut, Catamount, Mohawk Mountain or Jiminy Peak, car races at Lime Rock Race Track and Sharon Playhouse are all a short distance away. Tanglewood and the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge are also a short drive away!
We are conveniently located off Route 7 with easy access to Salisbury, Lakeville, Lime Rock, Sharon, Great Barrington, Lenox, Lee and Stockbridge. We are 15 minutes away from Hotchkiss School and from Lime Rock racetrack.
We are very fortunate to be located in a wonderful town in the foothills of the Berkshires. There is so much to do, in 25 years of living here we have not done them all. Our location is off Route 7 so it's easy access to everything!
  • This is a wonderful family home tucked in the woods of Northern CT. We were in the area for our son's parents weekend. There are many family keepsakes throughout the house that makes it really feel like a home. It is very clean and the beds and linens are very comfortable. Its a great location for Hotchkiss families looking for an opportunity to get to know the area. There are many thoughtful extras that we greatly appreciated. For example, shampoo and make up remover. Audrey, the host, is just great, and from the day we booked, tried to make our stay enjoyable. After learning that we would be arriving very late at night she had breakfast items in the fridge for the next morning. She has a very detailed book of activities and places to eat in the area. We refered to it quite often. We appreciated the large capacity washer and dryer at the house, and spent every evening enjoying the large fire place. Our family felt very safe and comfortable and will definatley be back.

  • Had a fantastic two day stay while attending an event at Lime Rock. The house is quaint, quiet and perfectly suited for a relaxing stay. Everything was clean and organized and the host was kind to provide helpful signs, water, chargers and other touches that are above and beyond the expected. I look forward to staying again next month.

  • This was my second stay at Audrey's house and I brought two friends along this time. Again, this house is terrific and Audrey is an awesome host. We were attending an event at Lime Rock and my friends both agreed that we'd never again stay at one of the local hotels while we can stay here instead. The house is very comfortable and quiet. The beds and linens were all very nice. There are phone chargers everywhere and the WiFi works great. We drove two minutes over to Falls Village for dinner at the Inn and the next day had breakfast at Toy Makers before heading to the track. Look forward to using the house again on our next visit.

The space is elegant, but rustic, work in progress so to speak, but clean and well built, very spacious, and usually quiet, though in the summer we are near Lime Rock Race Track, and you can hear the cars on days they are racing or training.

  • The farm was a fantastic place to stay, for the adults and kids. My 5 and 4 year old roamed free, learned about the animals and got a sense of independence they don't get to have in the city. The house met all of our basic needs, which is all we needed for our weekend away. The area around the house has beautiful hikes and Corinne and David are fantastic about giving recommendations. Over all a great family weekend!

A lovely old home that has been converted to apartments. Great little town centrally located in the tourism belt of the Berkshires and Northwest CT. This apartment is spare and very basic, but it's priced appropriately and quite nice with big windows, hardwood floors, non-working, but pretty fireplace, antique doors, etc. Two bedrooms, LR, small kitchen and bathroom with full bath/shower. 12" memory foam queen mattress and single air mattress Think simple, think zen?
Walking distance to small town restaurants, library, antique stores, pharmacy, laundromat, etc. Great location to travel up and down the tourism route of Route 7.
  • Simple, Zen like quiet and close to nature waterfalls, river canoes rides and nature trails.

    Gus2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Spare is not the word. Zen is not the word either. The place was clean and the mattress was very comfy, other than that, the place is terrible. Tissue paper taped to the windows act as "shades". Only 1 of 5 windows in the bedroom opens. Spare "air mattress" room window doesn't open. There is only a kitchen table and 2 hard chairs. An outside patio table acts as the bedside table with a small fan. The stand lamp in the bedroom had no lampshade. On arrival the refrigerator was unplugged and therefore warm. Thank goodness we didn't plan to cook, as there were no cooking utensils, not even a corkscrew! A small number of mismatched plates and glasses. The outside stair light is very very bright and is right outside the bedroom window so therefore shines in all night long...the tissue paper didn't help. The pillows could not have been flatter. The bed was made with just sheets, we had to look for a (URL HIDDEN) old "comforter" stuffed into a closet. And, getting the key was nasty (I won't say where it was hidden). As my weekend got closer, I was offered an extra night at a very reduced rate. I thank God that I didn't take the owner up on the offer. Two nights would have been miserable. Walking distance to town, which offers very little...2 pizza/italian restaurants, 2 diners for breakfast...McDonalds and Dunks a bit further along. The worst $134 I ever spent. Nice area of the Berkshires, but there are plenty of other places to stay that are worth your money.

  • I enjoyed taking a walk in the neighborhood there. Just a couple blocks from a cute downtown Main Street.

  • Peaceful space near to Great Barrington, Lakeville and other lovely rural areas. Parking is a huge plus, especially with a large vehicle.

  • Jeff’s place was as described- spare but clean, comfortable and quiet. It was very close to the site of our friends’ wedding, which worked perfect for us. A few more tweaks and added touches, as Jeff gets his place into the full Air BnB swing, will make his place really special.

  • Jeff's place is well kept. Master bedroom is huge, so enjoy that. The local area has some quick eats and small shops. Def worth the money!

Beautifully furnished historic salt box. Beneath Canaan Mountain, next to the Blackberry River between Salisbury CT, and Great Barrington MA. Equidistant between the two local ski areas Catamount and Butternut, and near dozens of ideal hiking spots.
We are in the foothills of the Berkshires, not far from Great Barrington, Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, and just a couple of hours north of NY.
  • The Red House is a poetic, historic and charming home-away-from-home. The house was built in the 18th century and still retains a special old-world enchantment. Nestled on a lovely stretch of natural land, the Red House is tucked away and perfect for a quiet and cozy evening. Erika is a lovely host. She greeted us upon arrival and she was very welcoming. Erika is a talented artist and the Red House is filled with beautiful examples of her lyrical style. She has a gorgeous studio on the property and she was kind enough to show us her artworks. We really enjoyed the ambience of the place and we had a memorable and restful evening there. The Red House has got to be among the most special AirBnB opportunities out there!

Lovely house in town of Canaan. Walking distance to restaurants and stores. Short drive to many area attractions including Butternut and Catamount ski areas, Tanglewood, Great Barrington, Infinity Music Hall, Lime rock, Salisbury School, Appalation Trail, etc...

  • Sandra was out of town when we stayed the night. She called the morning of our stay to make sure we had all the information we need. Her home is clean and pleasant . The beds are very comfortable. The location is pretty convenient, 20 minutes from Great Barrington and right around the corner from stop and shop, dunkin donuts, a small diner and Mcdonald.

    Gigi2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect. House was beautiful and Sandra was very accommodating. It was the perfect location for our commute to the local race track.

Beautiful and distinctive, shabby chic, European...[150 year old] house and property, with 4 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, study and dining room that seats 12+ Located on the outskirts of a picturesque New England village. Walking distance to town along the old railroad path to the Yale University Summer School of Music and Art. Great hiking, lakes, swimming, exploring, skiing, all within the local area, restaurants, Infinity Hall & where you can see vintage bands e.g. The English Beat, Fun!

  • Being the first to stay at Rebeccas on Airbnb, we weren't totally sure what to expect because we rely so much on reviews! The drive from Manhattan to her home was one of the most beautiful drives, through gorgeous little towns, rolling hills, lakes, foliage, cute towns. The town she is in is very quaint and pretty. The house itself is so big, and the property is really something special. I have never seen the stars better except at the planetarium. The home was different than any rental I've ever stayed in and we do this a lot! It is filled with art and curiosities, always something to look at there, filled with beautiful vintage items. When in their home you really feel as if you've wandered around the woods and wound up in this home and you're guessing about the people who lived here once (or still maybe do, I'm not sure). I think the value for the price of such a large house is good, and you will be comfortable there. It was warm enough with the heat lightly on, and quiet. We did have some problems with getting the inside of the oven to go hot enough to cook dinner, if we had reached out maybe Rebecca could have helped out, but it was ok we used the stovetop after that instead. Our dogs also really loved it.

Bright, cheery, peaceful and cozy studio apartment in a quiet rural town, near the year-round attractions of the Berkshires (hiking, museums, Tanglewood and Lime Rock) and close to the many local private schools: Hotchkiss, IMS, Berkshire and Salisbury. It has a private entrance, a full bath, a kitchenette (only for light meals, such as breakfast), complimentary coffee, tea and water, and a queen-sized bed. Walk out into a peaceful garden and woods. WiFi was just upgraded to pro specs.
This is a large yet cozy studio apartment with a comfy queen-sized bed, a kitchenette (stove, oven, toaster, coffee maker and small fridge) and a renovated bathroom with shower. We just upgraded the WiFi to a state-of-the-art system. The entrance is private; come and go as you please. The space is very quiet and opens onto a garden and acres of woods, ready for exploring. This is a convenient, affordable option when visiting the many Berkshires attractions like skiing, hiking, biking or cultural centers like Tanglewood, Lime Rock, Shakespeare & Co, or visiting one of the many nearby boarding schools: Hotchkiss, Salisbury, Berkshire, IMS. PLEASE NOTE: if you would like to use the air mattress (the 2nd bed), please make your reservation as a party of three.
The house is in a quiet New England town, close to loads of outdoor activities and culture. The ski areas of Butternut, Mohawk and Catamount are nearby. The local towns don't get much more quaint: Salisbury, Great Barrington and Stockbridge. For culture there's the Norman Rockwell Museum, Berkshire Botanical Gardens, Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, Shakepeare & Co., and Berkshire Theater Festival. There is great year-round hiking and three-season biking nearby. It's within 15 minutes of the four major private schools in the area. There are two gas stations, quaint diners and a large grocery store within two blocks of the apartment. We have a whole list of recommendations for eating and recreation upon your arrival. FAQs about distances: Great Barrington is 20 minutes away. Kripalu and Tanglewood are about 35 minutes away. That's Stockbridge, too. Geer and the Mountainside are literally down the street.
  • Excellent place in the Berkshires, for an excellent price! Mike met me at the door, and was extremely friendly, and helpful with dinner suggestions. Nice folks. The space itself is a mother-in-law above the garage, but it's very private, comfy bed, working kitchen, warm shower, and basically an excellent night's sleep.

  • Laurie was wonderfully communicative before, during, and after our stay. She made it easy to find a good time to arrive, and explained everything about the space and the area so we could feel settled in. The space was clean and cozy - offering a great retreat from the city, after a long day, and even in the cool rain one morning. Her backyard was a lovely sight to wake up to, and it's a truly private space which made it feel all the more special. We took up her suggestions for food and hikes in the area, and that helped us take full advantage of our stay. Thanks Laurie!

  • Laurie & Mike were absolutely fantastic! Our stay could not have been more enjoyable--they took every measure to make sure we felt welcome, and had everything we needed. They gave us wonderful suggestions for spending time in the area, and were so lovely to chat with, all of which is just icing on the cake when staying in such a cozy spot. We will be coming back here again soon!

  • Utter country perfection! We could not have asked for better hosts than Libby & Jim. Communicating with them to arrange arrival and departure times was a breeze. The house is everything one would want out of a country stay: beautiful views of the Housatonic Valley, a spacious room with a comfortable bed and its own deck, and a large bathroom with a first rate shower. The bedroom is especially quiet and private in its own corner of the house. The bed and sheets made for an especially long, deep sleep. You can tell how much attention Libby & Jim have put into every aspect of the house, and it is complemented by their warm, gracious hospitality. Since we plan to return to the Northwest corner of Connecticut again, staying at Libby & Jim's is a no-brainer.

  • This place is GORGEOUS. The pictures really don't capture either the size or the level of just beauty of this house and barn and the land it's situated on. The kitchen is roomy and glorious to cook in, the rooms are decorated perfectly, it was immaculately clean and Michael was kind enough to be flexible with us checking in and out. We had the best weekend away with friends EVER and cannot recommend this property enough. We will certainly come back.

  • Michael's place was a terrific out-of-the-way spot in Goshen. We had a number of people staying there, all were slept comfortably. We took some time to explore the property and really enjoyed the rural setting. The house is immaculate with a terrific sound system. If you get the chance, definitely look in to a weekend in Northwest Connecticut!

  • We stayed for three nights over memorial day weekend for a 30th birthday celebration. Beautiful property, perfect for large groups. We had 16+ people and everyone had a sleeping spot. The grill was fantastic for lunch and dinner, the sound system was also amazing, you plugged your phone in and it could be heard throughout the house and outdoors (with the option to turn it off in every room). The bathrooms were great. The lawn was large and lended itself to plenty of lawn games. The barn apartment worked well for those that wanted a bit more privacy. All in all, every person raved about the trip and the house by the end of the weekend. Michael was also very easy to communicate with, answered every question, and gave us a walk through the day of.

    Nicole2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the house over a weekend. The interior is spacious, beautifully designed, and appointed with top quality amenities. The outside area is attractively landscaped and very private. We would definitely return.

Built by the Amish, this wonderful cabin was just built last spring! Along with its rural country location, there are great distant mountain views. Be our guests to enjoy the lake for swimming! Come explore the country roads, trails to hike, a farm stand close by for fresh veggies and even a nearby Geocache to find. What a great retreat for those seeking to just get away from the everyday hustle and unwind.
Remember to bring your hotspot if you wish to have internet access. There is a satellite dish for TV/movies and a DVD player if you bring some movies of your own. Games and magazines also available. If you like to cook, the cabinets have assorted staples and fresh farm eggs are in the refrigerator. Assorted pots and pans are also available. There also is a BBQ grill too! There is a full bathroom with shower. Assorted towels and wash clothes are available for you along with some toiletries. Just want to relax...... sit back and unwind on the screened front porch which has the best seat around for watching the sunsets. There also is an outdoor dining set and some chairs should you want to enjoy the sun. Don't be surprised if you see a deer or wild turkeys! They love to visit.
Our cabin is located in North Cornwall which I personally think is one of the most beautiful sections of Cornwall. It still has been left unspoiled and small family farms still maintain the endless farm fields. The cabin sits on a former farm field and overlooks cows grazing in a nearby pasture and Cream Hill Lake. Nearby are Cornwall Land Trust trails to hike (some with amazing views!). Just a short drive away.... area attractions include the Historic Covered Bridge, Music Mountain, Lime Rock Park, Clark Outdoors for river kayaking and canoeing adventures, local restaurants, country markets, Mohawk Mountain, and nearby Infinity Hall in Norfolk.
  • Highly recommended! Quiet, clean, comfortable plus such a private and peaceful location. Thanks Maria!

    Weston2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is the type of place you go to when you're ready to put clients, neighbors, stakeholders, johnny's homework, and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) on hold; when you deserve a break from being selfless, from helping everyone else and their pet parakeet. You won't find a whole lot here, no neighbors in sight, no light, air, or noise pollution, and most of all, no busy. It's where my wife and I came to relax, to breathe. Our only neighbor was Mother Nature, and much like our host, Maria, she was the most nurturing. Besides the countless generous accommodations, and down-home touches that Maria left for us, what we also uncovered was a spark, the very spark that ignited our romance and brought us to this very point in time. It was just myself, my wife, God's creatures, the nighttime stars, fresh rural air, endless amazing views, and BBQ. Sanctuary.

    Tony2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Maria was AWESOME!!! The cabin was spotless, comfortably cool and left us some really nice treats from the nearby farms. Also, the private lake that Maria belongs to and allowed us to swim in was so peaceful that you could practically hear a pin drop. If you need to just get away from the hustle-and-bustle from wherever you may live, Maria's 'cabin-on-the-hill' is just what the doctor ordered!!! Thank you so much, Maria!

    Jay2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place!

    David 2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is truly "(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)-worthy." So cute, comfortable, very clean, and charming. It is a snug little place -- definitely would be tough for more than two people to stay here. But for a couple looking for some peace and quiet, it's perfect! The front porch faces a lovely view of hills and a sunset. There are but windows letting in lots of light and allowing occupants to view some of the area's wildlife. There is a flock of turkeys that likes to roam around outside -- fun to watch. Maria left lots of goodies from local farmers markets and fresh eggs -- delicious! We had a lovely time here.

    Christie2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazingly beautiful place with an unbelievable view. Close to a quiet lake for swimming and surrounded by beautiful nature. The house was impeccably clean and filled with delicious treats. Comfortable bed and chairs for lounging. It is completely private and a real quiet getaway where all you will hear is the birds. Beautiful starry night sky, amazing sunsets. We will definitely be coming back, hopefully soon!

    Inge2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • For our first Air BnB experience, Maria truly made it an excellent one! We could tell how much love and care went into preparing the cabin to make it a perfect getaway. We would highly recommend staying at this beautiful cabin, and look forward to hopefully staying here again!

    Kendal2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Maria's place was secluded with gorgeous views and complete privacy. The beach is a short drive (3 mins..) away. The lake is used by many folks in the community and is as scenic as you can imagine. The house is well-equipped with all you might need for grilling and cooking. The a/c in the bedroom is fantastic and the rest of the house catches a great breeze from the screened-in windows all being opened at once! All in all, the home is beautifully appointed and well taken-care of in a quiet location you'll want to come back to often. Enjoy your stay!

  • Dean's rustic home literally looks out onto The straightaway at Lime Rock Park. It's a clean and convenient place to stay if you're visiting the race track. He has helpful tips, and great coffee in the morning ready for you.

    Carey2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Dean is a very gracious host and his property is literally on the border of Lime Rock Raceway. He was easy to communicate with and made sure that I had everything I needed to be comfortable,. I very much enjoyed my early morning fresh coffee on his back deck overlooking the misty racetrack. One thing to note - the stairs to the bedrooms on the second floor are very steep and might be difficult for some people.

    Nancy2015-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Dean was a fantastic host, providing ample breakfast food, seeing as how the town of Lakeville and the surrounding area have plenty of options to wine and dine, but only if you have access to a car, or are willing to take a taxi. The description didn't do the house justice. The inside is absolutely charming, and it's clear that Dean has put a tremendous amount of work into making his house a home, and then turning his home into a bed n' breakfast. Highly recommend staying here. I am definitely thinking I will have to come back in the Fall when the leaves change.

    Claire2015-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • The convenience was great for anyone attending an event or drivers school at Lime Rick Park . The rooms are basic but have all you need. Dean even gave A Bit of advice on the racing line.

  • The location was perfect, as we were there for the races. Dean was a great host, personable and welcoming. He greeted us at the front door and made sure everything was to our liking. The house was clean and neat as well as a lovely example of old New England. We had dinner both nights on the back porch. I couldn't have envisioned a better experience. we needed to be up and out by 6:30 AM. Coffee was all ready for us.

  • Spacious, clean, and uncluttered but nicely furnished. We didn't have time to take advantage of their outdoors, but the setting is lovely. They were there to greet us and give us a quick tour. Happy stay - we would visit again.

  • I had a wonderful stay and Sandra and Peter are fantastic hosts. The accommodations in their lovely home were superb - impeccably clean room, comfortable bed, fantastic bath! Delicious homemade breakfast was such a treat. I only wish it stopped raining long enough to explore the peaceful patio and beautiful grounds. I hope I have the opportunity to stay again next time I'm in the area!

    Katherine2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a delightful stay! Sandra's breakfast was to die for and we so enjoyed our conversation that morning around the table. Can't wait to go back and explore the beautiful area with the lakes, hiking trails and quaint coffee shops. Thanks again for your wonderful hospitality!

  • This is my first AirBnB property visit after not being able to find a local hotel (I am now a convert). Sandy is super responsive and a wonderful host. Her property is kept immaculate, well beyond my expectations. We will be back!

  • Very welcoming thank you

    Joyce2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • I arranged travel at relatively short notice and at a distance (the UK) for an overnight stay in Salisbury - Sandra balanced both efficiency and friendliness whilst arranging the visit. And then meeting and chatting to Sandra and Peter was a delight - warm, hospitable, funny, and very interesting people, firmly rooted in the Connecticut locale. They showed an unassuming diligence in hosting and remained laid-back with my relatively brisk schedule, and I really appreciated it. The bedroom and house are beautiful, quiet, tasteful, and clean (and excellent locally-made bits and bobs of food everywhere). In short, I would drop back in to stay with Sandra and Peter in a heartbeat!

  • We chose Sandra and Peter's place on the basis of glowing reviews, and our expectations were greatly exceeded. Sandy and Peter were beyond generous in making us welcome in their home, looking after us after a long day's hiking - and even dropping us at the trailhead the following morning! Their place is lovely, extremely comfortable - and breakfast plentiful and delicious. We couldn't have asked for more!

    Ellen2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful and welcoming place to stay. The room was lovely and the bathroom huge! We wished we had had time to try the tub and the bath salts. Breakfast was delicious and Sandra even got up to make it for us, even though we needed to leave early for something at a nearby horse farm. We loved our stay and will be sure to check there first when we return to the area.

Wonderful home on a quiet road in picturesque Cornwall Connecticut. Covered bridge, Appliacian trail, Mohawk downhill ski area, Hoositonic river. Come share our little piece of paradise. Watch the deer and turkeys play in our front field.
We are on a quiet country road with plenty of space to roam the woods and fields. The lake is a short hike away.
  • Lovely, spacious comfortable.

  • Our stay in this country home couldn't have been better! The house was even more than depicted in its photos. It was so comfortable & homey that it was difficult to leave each day to go exploring. There was more than enough space for everyone, many cozy places to lounge & relax, large windows AND privacy throughout, bathrooms with enormous tubs/showers, expansive yard within a sprawling forest, and the coup de gras - the solarium which overlooked all this beauty. The hosts were welcoming, informative, and accessible. It was the best taste of country living that I can imagine.
