  • The cabin at Randall's Bay was as described on the website and the photos were very honest. The cabin was cosy and soon warmed up with the electric heaters. It was so nice to find an escape so close to Hobart which was also dog friendly. The location has great water views and it is possible to walk the dogs almost all the way to Eggs and Bacon Bay hardly accessing a busy road. The rocking chairs and old skool ambience were as expected, unfussy and comfortable. Early in our stay we did run out of tank water, but Lara did sort this out as a matter of urgency in a couple of hours and it was no drama.

  • it is a good house, near the sea, warm and clean

    恩云2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely peaceful clean. Everything one needs. If you haven't stayed at Lara's then make the effort because it is worth it. Great water views.

    Millie2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quiet location with beautiful views from the living room, dining area and both bedrooms. Walk down through the bottom gate on the property to join the cliff top track and then along to the beach (via the native cherries :). A friendly neighbourhood, great beach for the kids and a then back to the classic shack for an outdoor BBQ one night and pizza making in the suitably equipped kitchen the next. A great place to relax and forget about life for a weekend, and quite easily made safe for our young children.

  • Excellent spot and great accommodation. Would definitely recommend.

    Marek2015-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • The description of the cabin and the notes Lara left was very accurate and detailed. This is a great place to unplug completely as there is no internet at the cabin and our mobiles did not have reception. The kitchen was stocked with the basics and we enjoyed cooking on the outside grill. The walk to the water was really pretty and we enjoyed the views of the water from the porch. Be sure to plan your drive to the house during the day because you will take windy roads and there were not street lights (not Lara's fault, but something to consider when booking flights, etc). There were lots of quaint wineries and breweries really close to the house.

  • Thank you to Jason and Jill for a sensational stay over the Easter Weekend. The house is comfortable, cosy and set in a beautiful location. Plenty to do whether it be fishing, walking, playing games/cards/table tennis or relaxing in the sunroom and watching the day go by. Both hosts were easily contacted and helpful. We would definitely recommend Jason and Jill's and would stay again in the future. Thanks for having us.

  • Great house in a great location at Charlotte Cove. Love the view out over the water. House was very well equipped and hosts very generous, even allowing us a late check out which made the weekend that much more relaxed.

  • Such a beautiful spot! We stayed 2 nights and were very happy with the house and it's many benefits such as the incredible peaceful location with beautiful views over the jetty and bay, well equipped kitchen and BBQ and the cosy living room with adjacent sunroom and fire place. We wanted to stay longer! Thanks for having us!!

  • My 3 children and I have a wonderful stay in this Tassie shack (holiday home). Our hosts had left milk, coffee, towels and prepared the fire. They communicated well and the house was immaculate. The view is incredible and I wish we could have stayed longer. We used the house as a base to explore the region, but the best part was the time in the house - table tennis, the jetty, enjoying a few games in the sunroom and painting in the little art spot that had been set up. A wonderful stay!

Spring special for the rest of September and October, let's put the winter behind us! Come, relax, put your feet up and watch the world drift by... Or come, bring your boat/kayak/diving gear/bathers and get out amongst it! Charlotte Cove is a small paradise an hour south of Hobart. It’s situated at the mouth of the Huon River, midway between Bruny Island and the charming town of Cygnet, with a host of great cafes, restaurants, vineyards and producers right at your fingertips.
The house enjoys waterfront views from both the front and rear. North facing and nestled in a native garden with a deck overlooking all the action down at the boat ramp. With funky, comfortable furnishings, it’s the perfect place to relax and sample the delicious local food, wine and cheese. The house has Wifi (NBN) and a well-equipped kitchen with basic cooking essentials and a few things to get you started, such as real coffee, a selection of teas, milk, bread, eggs, muesli and yoghurt. Because the house is on tank water there’s a water filtered jug to fill for drinking water. The bedrooms downstairs all have built ins and electric blankets and there's a small deck off the main bedroom to catch the morning sun (a small table setting is stored in the hall cupboard). The bathroom comes with hairdryer, heater and small washing machine, although please be mindful that you are on tank water and it’s a precious commodity.
Charlotte Cove is situated at the mouth of the Huon River, at the southern end of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel. This channel, separating Bruny Island (which can be seen from the kitchen window) and mainland Tasmania, has long been regarded as the best cruising sheltered waterway in Australia with many sheltered bays and safe anchorages in any weather. The Charlotte Cove boat ramp is within 15 metres of the front door. The house is 15 mins out of Cygnet, renowned for it’s cafes, artisans and local produce: Matthew Evans’ Fat Pig Farm is now open, Red Velvet Lounge and Lotus Eaters in Cygnet, Pagan Cider; check out this local blog site for all sorts of tips: Hugo and Elsa; You’re also 15 mins from Woodbridge: with Grandvewe Cheese, Peppermint Bay and 20 minutes to Kettering and the ferry to Bruny Island with a whole new world of wild beauty, cheese, wine and whiskey to be discovered!
  • Our visit was only trumped by the care and supplies left by Nicole on arrival fresh bead, Eggs and milk were warmly received and welcomed considering we arrived late on the first night. The House was much bigger than expected with stunning views over the water. Clean spacious and very warm. Definitely stay here again if we and when we return. Thank you Nicole

  • I loved this experience. I was made to feel warmly welcome from the moment the booking was made to the moment I left - and afterwards :). This is definitely a place I will want to return to again and again. It's wonderfully off the beaten track and in a world of its own with magnificent vistas down to the Bay Looking towards Bruny island. The guest room was private and separate from the main house with its own toasty warm roaring fire. The sky was amazing - stars as far as the eye could see undisturbed by lights. Theresa and Nick are warm, inspiring and absolutely welcoming. The food was healthy, nutritious and delicious, grown organically with love on their own land. A lovely family that I didn't want to leave. Thanks so much for the experience xx Joy

    Garden Island Creek, TAS, Australia

The Retreat at Randalls offers a totally private, absolute waterfront experience overlooking stunning Randalls Bay, a short drive from Cygnet and 55 minutes from Hobart. Featuring panoramic views of the pristine beach across to Garden Island, and a sheltered 3,500 square metre garden area with abundant wildlife, walking tracks and play equipment for the kids to explore, the opportunity exists for families or couples to rest and relax. So too does it provide the perfect opportunity to access the numerous tourist sites along the Huon Valley Trail, Bruny Island, and beyond. The house itself offers comfortable accommodation with a retro beach house feel. It is set on 3 levels, the lower containing bunk accommodation for two, the middle the kitchen/meals/lounge area, a ‘snug’ and the two main bedrooms, and the upper story providing further sleeping facilities and a new 60 square metre deck. The master bedroom (complete with en-suite) and the communal living areas offer uninterrupted views across the D’Entrecasteaux Channel to the Hartz Mountains. The deck adds further to the panoramic experience, with a 360 degree outlook encompassing the beach across to Garden Island in one direction, and a view of the private gardens and the mountain of the Echo Sugarloaf reserve from behind. An outdoor heater has been recently added to ensure comfort all year round. Further facilities include a split system heater/cooler and a wood burning Coonara, digital television/radio, a scenic BBQ area (wood fired) , a well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and microwave oven, a washing machine and clothes dryer, abundant reading material, Scrabble, children’s puzzles etc. All linen and towels (except beach towels) are supplied. The grounds, intersected by a winding 100 metre long horseshoe driveway with two small bridges, provide an added source of enjoyment, especially for children. Scattered across the property via a number of tracks can be found a 10 foot trampoline, a slide with adjoining climbing frame, and a play area with suspended tyre, trapeze and conventional swings. Along the coast side a gate opens out to a path leading to the safe, secluded beach. Both Randalls Bay, and the adjoining Mickey’s Beach (accessed by a scenic walking track nearby) are, we believe, simply the best beaches in the Huon region, if not beyond. Certainly, they are one of the very few stretches of sandy shoreline to have such an enclosed, sheltered position, surrounded by natural bush. Other attractions include: • kayaking, fishing, coastal walks, swimming, rock-pooling, boating • Cygnet (a pleasant ‘artistic’ town with a variety of quality cafes and galleries) • Hartzview and Panorama wineries • Bruny Island • Grandvewe Cheesery • Tahune Airwalk • Hastings caves and Thermal Springs • Hartz Mountains • Peppermint Bay bistro and fine dining • Huonville jetboats ... to name but a few. A more comprehensive guide, complete with explanatory brochures and our own recommendations, can be found upon arrival.

  • Our hostess prepared well, even left us a bowl of roses. We enjoyed our stay but the weather meant that we rarely saw the view depicted from the balcony. We enjoyed the relaxed family feel of the house thank you

  • Its a lovely house. We loved to stay there! The kitchen is old, but good enought for cooking - what we did every day we stayed there. Garden and beach near the house is incredible! Beautiful! Great place for kids. Thanks!

  • The location of this house is absolutely beautiful, and the house itself is large and very comfortable. It was perfect for us and our two boys, in particular they loved the extensive gardens and tyre swing. The house was well stocked with essentials plus more, and all in all, I wish we had been able to stay for longer.

  • Staying at Randalls Bay was exactly what we needed. Stunning location, views that restored the spirit and comfortable facilities. The house was as described, everything you needed with a 70s beach house vibe. Thanks to Jill and owners for having us, we'd love to come back!

  • Beautiful setting, access to beach via a gentle bush track. House great, very comfortable with little extras to make it so - books, games, basics in the pantry, toys and spaces for kids. I'd love to stay longer another time and bring kayaks.

    Lu2015-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in this tranquil and homely bush setting. Sadly we had to cut our stay short by a day as bad weather caused power outages and no power means no heating or water. Jill was great to deal with on all levels, a charming lady. She kindly offered to refund the nights accomodation. The property has a great retro feel, we felt at home straight away.

    Lisa2015-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at this quiet and peaceful place surrounding by great view of ocean and trees. It takes a bit of driving to go elsewhere but we enjoyed driving around beautiful Tasmania anyway. Jill is very quick and efficient in responding to our need.

  • Such a great spot. Picture perfect really. Great amenities and a very warm welcome on our arrival. Everything we needed in a well presented, clean and comfortable base to explore all the beauty the Huon River and Bruny Island area have to offer. Also really appreciated the ability to freely use additional amenities like kayaks, bikes and wetsuits etc. well thought out and well provided and what a view to wake up to each morning too. Huge plus was the fact the place is so dog friendly. Is often hard to holiday with the beloved pooches but this place made it super easy. Just wish local councils would be a bit more accomodating to responsible pet owners !!

    Martin2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic getaway spot. It had everything you could possibly need for a weekend away. It would be perfect for a summer but was also a wonderful place to enjoy a cold, windy night as we did. Shelley and Stephen's place is great all year round, for families and couples.

    Rasa2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures do not give this place enough credit. To be able to sit on the deck - even in cold wet weather and see seals frolicking in the bay was memorable. Our family fully enjoyed the time spent at Shelley and Stephen's great beach house. We stayed 3 nights and could have stayed another week - would be even better in Summer - though as said, even in the colder months a great spot to relax, walk along the beach at back door step. The facilities are extensive - including the tinny, which we took out on the bay for row. Great spot for a get-away from it all, and yet close enough to explore region - which we enjoyed a side trip to Bruny Island. Thanks again - great holiday.

  • Great location for a quite night or two away. Bex was a great host with plenty of detailed instructions and tips. If travelling midweek be sure to stock up in the way. Cygnet is a beautiful town and the closest place for food, but is quiet Monday - Wednesday. All of this (BTW) was outlined by Bex, but I'd be remiss if I didn't reinforce the fact TLDR: Great place. Great value.

    Daniel2017-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Bex was a gorgeous, caring and very communicative host. Although the digs are very much shack-style - simple and earthy, there is real care and attention to detail. The kitchen is basic but everything is good quality and easy to use. The bed is comfortable, surrounds beautiful, and it's lovely when the fire is roaring. Being in nature during the day, and surrounded by art on the walls at night is a real treat. Don't expect the Ritz, but instead an authentic Tasmanian shack-style getaway with and artistic twist.

    Ellen2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Bex's place is really great! We had a beautifully peaceful time nestled, cosy by the fire. There are some really nice walks nearby and the setting is very picturesque. We watched wallabies bouncing round out the front window. It's is simple and basic but has everything you need!

    Stuart2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay! Very close to eggs and bacon bay and amazing place to get away from everything - yet only 1 hour away from Hobart. Highlights were the artists studio, moka coffee pot, "who gives a crap" toilet paper and the house guide with instructions on where to get great local food :)

  • Drift in is a fabulous, relaxing house that couldn't be better positioned on a lovely beach called Eggs and Bacon Beach! Two days wasn't enough time as its a magical spot, with everything planned to make your stay perfect. The house is a delightful, stylish but relaxed and Jacqui was very helpful accommodating my request at short notice which was great. I had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this lovely place as a base to explore the beautiful south of Tasmanian.

  • We loved staying at Eggs and Bacon Bay, a perfect getaway in peaceful surroundings! Communication with Linda was excellent, the house very clean, the beds comfy and the kitchen very well set up. We kept warm with a very efficient wood heater for cold winter nights and had plenty of garden space to chase a sunny reading spot. A short stroll to the beach and a gorgeous view over the bay from all windows. Lots of bird life in the garden and only a short drive to other beaches which are all kid friendly and a real pleasure to explore. With historic Cygnet not far a way and providing some fabulous cafes and chocolate makers , Pam's place is a cosy pace to stay even in winter.

    Noella2016-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, clean, comfortable house, everything we needed was there. Good off street parking (some undercover). Easy access to safe beach. Very well situated for visiting Huon Valley attractions. Good safe garden for children and pets. Nice quiet settlement.

    Vicki2016-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • The place was immaculate, the fire roared, everything you could need inside, a hop skip and jump to the beach, and a nice walk to other beaches in the area. Secluded area that is very quiet and relaxing. Thank you Linda!

  • A beatiful and interesting house at a nice bay. Also there are several houses along this street it is very remote and a car is highly recomanded. The room is large and lighty. Shower and toilet are shared with your host. Susan was verry welcoming, gave me good tips about things to do in the area and we had quite some good chats.

    Oliver2013-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Susan is such a warm and welcoming host (also lots of fun). The house is unique in a bush setting in a remote corner of Tasmania. We loved our huge bedroom with views over the incredible pristine beach. Susan and her friends gave us great advice on the hidden secret locations in the far south of Tasmania. We look forward to visiting again.

    Harbour2014-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Big Roaring Beach. We loved hearing the sound of the waves and looking out of the windows to views to the beach. It is a house made with love and thought and it's a great place from which to explore the natural beauty of Tasmania's south.

    Victoria2017-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Susan is a marvelous host. Her home is both cozy and spacious. It was perfect for two singles and would also be ideal for a couple. It is remote and scenic, an ideal spot for people wanting to "get away from it all." The beach access across the street is delightful. Groceries and a bottle shop are a short 15 minute drive. A lovely, lovely place to spend several days and a good base to drive to several scenic walks.

    Sheryl2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks so much for having us. We had a lovely time. We enjoyed the scenery very much and had a fun time here. Susan was kind, generous and easy to communicate with. The accomodation was as described and we felt very comfortable.

    Elissa2016-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a restful 3 nights at this beautiful bay. In easy driving distance from all the wonderful walks places in the southeast of Tasmania. Susan took great care of us and our room overlooked the beach. We saw an echidna just outside the house a platypus during one of our walks, ate extremely well and generally felt we got to know a little of that coast. Many thanks Susan. Would live to return someday. Tricia and Mike.

    Patricia2014-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Susan's place is an amazing. Her bright smile and friendly welcome, the unique and beautiful design of her home, the prolific animal and bird life and the gentle roar of the ocean across the road all combined to make our stay here very special.

    Debra2017-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Susan was a welcoming host and had patiently awaited our arrival all day, til after dark when we finally made it to Big Roaring Bay, where the surf sure was roaring that evening....what a lovely sound! Her house is spacious and in a beautiful spot, with gorgeous views of the beach and bay, and there were electric blankets on the beds. Susan explained the workings of the big wood stove, which heats the water and runs some of the heaters, but so much to take in when we weren't used to having hot water, heating and a stove operating like that. Susan also invited one of her friends to come one evening to show us the night sky, and the stars were magnificent in that pristine area, where it is dark and no city lights hindering the viewing, which we really appreciated. We did enjoy our 3 nights there and in the area.

Absolute beachfront double storey modern house. All living areas are upstairs to take advantage of the beautiful views: beach out the front and farmland from the back. Relax to the sound of the waves rolling in.
Roaring Beach has spectacular white sand, often you will see a pod of dolphins or a seal. There are salmon farms in the channel and you can buy fresh salmon direct from Huon Aquaculture a few minutes drive away.
The quaint seaside town of Dover is a 10 minute drive, there you will be able to buy groceries or dine at a restaurant.
  • Very nice house but downstairs bedroom was freezing cold with only bare concrete for floor, not even rugs. There was a small fan heater in bedroom but didn't want to run it all the time. Bed was warm with electric blankets but was very pleased I had my mohair rug to add. Upstairs was lovely and warm with wood fire. Very spacious house and very well appointed. Lovely view of ocean.

  • Roaring beach was one of the best places we have stayed at in Tasmania, to lay in bed of a night and hear the waves crashing and the views thru the day... Just spectacular Thanks Honni

    Des2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay... the bottle of champagne a welcome surprise. The beautiful view allowed us to take in the surrounds in comfort as it was a wet weekend. The wood fire kept us toasty too. Thank you for sharing your retreat with us.

    Nicole 2016-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • We think that this was one of our best holidays ever. Amazing views that touch your soul. Walks on the power soft sand beach. Star gazing on the deck. Dinners and movies by the wood fire. Books, Biscuits, and Tea on a nice comfy couch all with a view that makes you sigh and wish you never had to leave.

    Viren2016-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! This place is perfect. A bedroom and ensuite downstairs and then upstairs to an open plan kitchen/lounge/dining with spectacular beach views. The fireplace makes it cozy and it was all set ready the light and the board games kept us amused. The kitchen made it easy to cook our meals. Another bathroom and bedroom with such amazing views that I didn't want to get out of bed. The beach is literally across the road and I loved my morning runs along its 1km stretch. There isn't much (read none) phone service but when you are in paradise you don't need it. Highly recommended - thanks so much

  • Jim's home was fabulous. It was a little further from Hobart than we initially realised but in the end that was perfect and relaxing. It's right across from a lovely beach and we used our time to explore the South (Huon Valley, Hartz Mountains and Ida Bay). The house was well provisioned and the bathrooms and bedding in particular were fantastic! Jim was very responsive during our stay. Thank you!

  • Thank you for an amazing house at a peaceful location, we all left (reluctantly) after 5 relaxing days feeling rejuvenated.  We had the beach to ourselves most of the time, and it was always fascinating to explore.  There is an abundance of wildlife around, rabbits and blue wrens during the day, we saw wallabies and paddymelons and bat on our walks at dusk. As the house is just across from the beach, we spent as much time as possible there even had lunches and dinners on the beach.  The house is quite large and accommodated 4/5 adults and two children. There was a large amount of beach toys, cricket set and two kayaks to use. Sadly we didn’t manage to get the kayaks out, maybe next time! We can’t wait to come back for another stay.

  • This is a fabulous location. The kitchen is well equipped even for a larger family, We found it warm even coming from the NT, and we had a delightful time here.

    Janet2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • The house worked perfectly for the 4 couples enjoying a weekend away. Fantastic location, beautiful beach and a house that gave us lots of room. Liked the fire to sit around when the temperature dropped. Bedrooms and bathrooms are of a high standard.

    Philip2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place to spend a few days and very very well equipped for rain, hail or shine. The house is very spacious with plenty of room to spread out and easy to share with multiple families. The kitchen is well equipped and even has very sharp knives (a rare find!), the beds are incredibly comfortable and there are lots of beach toys to play with. The beach is close and huge, the thermal pool and caves are only a short drive away, and there are handy shops nearby in Dover. We had a great time and plan to come back again!

    Dydee2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spacious home and well equiped. Sleeps 8 comfortably and the views from the second floor were amazing! Our family loved seeing the rabbits and wallabies!

    Sally2017-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous place, very comfortable house for large groups (ours was 10), beautiful beach, quiet & relaxing, loved the sound of the surf to fall asleep by & wasn't bothered by light rain - could still sit under the balcony for every meal & enjoy the peace. Quality bedding, plenty of linen & towels, well fitted out & ample kitchenware. Totally loved it!

  • Lovely place, great value, plenty to entertain kids indoors and out. Very relaxing place, so many birds and the roll of the waves, loved it. Make sure you explore the entire beach, very different at both ends, kayaking the river if its high enough. Host provides linen and kitchen stocked with every utensil needed, furniture for outdoor entertaining, just take yourselves, food and clothes.

  • Prior to arriving Mitchell offered a travel cot for our 19 month old and also let us know that there was no TV reception in case we were wanting to watch the AFL grand final. He also answered questions about the best route to take and was very helpful on all accounts. Chocolate and wine was waiting for us and games and D.V.D.'s for the kids.

    Sarah2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • A nice little family shack. The beach is beautiful and very close by, and the river is fun with the 2 kayaks that are provided for use. There are heaps of toys for use - trampoline, soccer goals, pool table and ping pong, etc. Yard is not securely fenced enough for a small-medium dog but might be ok for a big dog. Shack is well set up with a great deck, it is practical, pretty clean, although not much storage room and no hanging space. Hot water does not last long but is adequate for 2 very quick showers (and reheats quickly). The living area has plastic sheeting for windows and door but heats up really well with the wood heater and stays warm. Very limited mobile coverage with Optus and basically no coverage with telstra. Good TV reception for most channels.

  • We found this place to be amazing! It had everything we needed and much more. The weather was perfect so we didn't spend too much time at the house but we really enjoyed the wood fire and facilities. The champagne and chocolate were a beautiful touch as well

  • This was our second trip to The Tidy Shack; this time we brought our 9 and 8 year old boys. The additional outdoor room with the roof on the deck was great. The boys loved the whole experience - beach, trampoline, DVDs, pool table, bunny rabbits. We loved the sound of the waves on that oh so beautiful white sandy beach. Everyone sustained themselves with a bag of apples bought on the side of the road on the way down. It was a great base for us to explore the region - Hastings Springs; Dover RSL and Tahune Air Walk. We'll be back! Neil & Tracey

  • Just spent 2 nights away mid week in the amazing O Retreat - a stunning delight of a place that is tucked away in the hills down south overlooking the beautiful waters of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel and Bruny Island. WOW!! The view in itself in a 360 almost around the home, was magnificent but the home too was just stunning and extremely comfortable and easy to be in - beautiful décor, airy, light, fantastic kitchen, lovely spa, great bed (we only sampled one!), clean, awesome fireplace, magnificent dining table - everything was just lovely. My trip was "couple" time for which it was lovely but I can imagine sprawling out with other couples or family too and having an amazing time without being in each other's pockets! There are comments in the reviews about the driveway and admittedly it is a little scary or precarious for someone who doesn't like gravel roads BUT I handled it very slowly and all was fine going up and down - and I have a little automatic. I highly recommend this place - minimum of 2 nights, wish we had more time to have had at least a 3 or 4th this visit. Really very lovely - it didn't disappoint at all!! Thanks Nicki :)

  • This is a wonderful house in an amazing spot. We were able to explore several secluded beaches. Nickie was a great host. She was very kind and understanding about everything and went out of her way to help us out. I can heartily recommend this place to people traveling to Tasmania.

  • The O Retreat is a beautiful spacious venue overlooking the spectacular views of Middleton. It is well laid out and immaculately presented, with lovely spaces for gathering together in as well as quiet areas for couples or mindful reflection. Nickie the host is super lovely and helps make the whole experience a delight. Be aware though that it is a steep driveway with hairpin bends to get there, but absolutely worth the effort. We definitely recommend and are looking forward to getting back there! :)

  • It was just incredible. A small paradise in Southern Tasmania. Would recommend to anyone. Only regret that we couldn't stay longer.

    Paul2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful house , spacious , beautifully designed and everything thought through .. well done !

    Heidi2017-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • The O Retreat was absolutely lovely and Nickie was a great hostess! I was there with family, so we weren't necessarily "serene" but we had the most amazing time nonetheless. Beautiful house and surroundings perfect for relaxing. We spent a lot of time watching a family of wallabies under the house, playing games, cooking, and driving out to explore Tasmania. Just one thing...make sure you have a 4wd car to get up the driveway!

    Victoria2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully quiet and secluded, this gorgeous place offers incredible views of the surrounds and the stars at night. Nickie is also a kind host, just wished we could have stayed longer to relax and enjoy her hospitality more - the yoga and massage add-ons sounded lovely.

    Danielle2017-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is everything that we needed and everything that we expected it to be! What a breath of fresh air... and views to die for!! Such an amazing space, although it was only the two of us, it would be grand to share with friends!

The comfy cabin on our farm has everything you need for a relaxing stay in Tasmania's beautiful lower Huon and Channel area. Sleeping two, plus with a sofa bed for one extra, it is a great place to come home to after a day of sight-seeing. You can wander around the farm, say hello to our alpacas and sheep and help feed them if you like. We are very happy to provide information about interesting places to visit around the Channel and Huon, and about bushwalking in Tasmania.
Our cabin provides a relaxing haven for 2-3 people in a peaceful coastal and rural location. The cabin is a small building close to the main farmhouse. It consists of three rooms: in the larger room are a double bed, wardrobe, sofa bed, small lounge, and dining table, and, in an alcove, the kitchen. In the smaller rooms are the bathroom and separate toilet. All bedding, linen, crockery and utensils are provided. We will provide breakfast provisions - including tea and coffee, cereal, milk, bread, seasonal fruit from our garden, and home-made jam. Wireless internet is available, though not a great connection. Mobile phone coverage is poor.
We live on a 70 acre farm in a beautiful coastal area of southern Tasmania. Please note: we are not on Bruny Island; the ferry is about a 20 minute drive away. Day trips around the Huon and Channel areas are great from here; or Hobart and surrounds - but further away is a bit too far. There is a lot of native wildlife, such as pademelons (small wallabies) as well as birds. Shops, cafes, post office and other services are in Cygnet, a lovely small town about 10 km away. The lower Huon-Channel area has a lot to experience, including excellent food, lovely scenery and walks, swimming in summer, art galleries, the works! From the farm, it is lovely to go for a walk down to the bay, and around the shore (at low tide); there are also other spectacular bays and beaches not far away. This is a rural area, with no close neighbours except for some cows. There is a small settlement by the bay, about 600 metres from the farm.
  • My partner and I were welcomed warmly by Sharon. A lovely property, surrounded by countryside and animals. Enjoying our morning coffee while chatting to the alpaca's and feeding carrots to the ponies and donkey was a treat. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a relaxed, friendly break.

    Abi2016-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon place is great if you want to have a relaxing time surrounded by nature. Is close to the sea, river, mountains. She's a lovely hostess, very easy going. It was a very positive experience. It is a rural environment. Lots of native birds. Thanks Sharon.

    Eva2016-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon was a great host! She brought us to her farm and gave explanation about her plants, sheep and alpacas. We had fun feeding the animals. Her cabin is very well-equipped. Had a lovely stay. If we visit tas again, will surely be back at her cabin. Thanks Sharon.

  • My wife and I stayed at Deep Bay for a week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The Huon Valley is a beautiful part of Tasmania with many great places to explore and enjoy within close proximity to Deep Bay. It is also close enough to Hobart to spend the day visiting the city if desired. Sharon is a gracious host who did all she could to make our stay a pleasent experience.

    David2014-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Junko : We had a really good time at Sharon's! She is really kind and friendly! There are alpacas in her farm! We wanted to touch them so I asked her. She give us alpaca's food and we went her farm with her. It was a wonderful time! After that she taught us a lot of information about Tasmania. And when she knew we can't eat wheat flour, she brought us some gluten free foods ! The house was amazing! I was surprised because there is a kitchen, a toilet, a bath&shower... and some handmade foods in our private space. I want to go again ! David: What to add, maybe just that I had a very good feeling with Sharon that I felt smart and really kind. The accommodation was perfect, wood everywhere like I enjoy a lot, enlightened and definitely convenient to cook. This flat is surrounded by grass, gardens of vegetables, ponds, alapacas, sheeps, forest: amazing. And thanks again for advices and maps and books and... to visit around !!

    David2013-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very mesmerising experience! Sharon is a very nice host and the farm is absolutely lovely! The berries provided were the highlight of the trip! Never had such yummy berries before. They are the must-eat at Sharon's farm! The llamas and alpacas are the must-see. Very nice city-escape and relaxation!

    Tracy2016-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We learnt a lot about the farm. The best was, that we could whenever we wanted go to the garden and take some berries. We enjoyed as well feeding the ponys. The house was very cosy with a big verandha. We had a great and relieving time there.

    Jo2017-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • My gentleman and I stayed at Sharon and Scott's Farmstay for 3 nights. This was definitely not enough time! They are lovely, warm and interesting people well worth staying with and having a chat to. The farm is beautiful and quiet, with the most unreal vegetable patch and fruit orchard. Warning: it is likely to make yours feel somewhat inadequate (should you have one). There is also forest to explore, dams (rumoured to have a visiting platypus) and plenty of rolling fields to wander through. The accommodation was very comfortable and Sharon left us a welcome pack of fresh garden goodies and eggs for our breakfast. The surrounding region has a huge array of gorgeous Tasmanian landscapes with plenty to see and do and Sharon is more than helpful in pointing you toward places to go. I hope we get to visit again soon :)

Three Hut Point is the perfect family waterfront holiday home. It is situated in the quite hamlet of Gordon 55km south of Hobart. This property has 4 Bedrooms and is set on 1 acres of park like gardens
The property is set on the foreshore of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel. It has magnificent views of the sheltered bay the property dwells upon and Bruny Island is just across the channel. The 4 bedroom property can sleep up to 8 people. There are two bathrooms, a large well equipped kitchen and separate dinning area. There is also two living areas, one containing a TV and DVD and the other a table tennis table for hours of family fun. There is also a large outdoor decking area (and BBQ) which overlooks the gardens and the D'Entrecasteaux Channel giving brilliant views and opportunities to spot the sea life going by. Our aim is to make this property a home away from home.
Gordon is generally a quite little town. It is a popular fishing spot for the local fishers. The quite roads are also great to cycle around if you have your bike with you. The waterways are also great for a kayak.
  • Very scenic and restful space. The beds and linen are super comfortable and the deck outside perfect for lazy afternoon in the sun

    Trista2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most excellent stay at Three Hut Point! I stayed with 7 other friends for a week over the New Year, and everyone agreed it was the most fantastic spot for a holiday. The house itself had everything we needed and more than enough space for all of us, and the large verandah overlooking the D'Entrecasteaux was a definite favourite! Although I didn't meet Sharon while we were down there, her communication was excellent and very helpful. Plus her business partners/in-laws that live next door were friendly and on hand if we ever needed anything. The location of the house was also perfect; far enough away to feel secluded, but also a good base to explore Hobart, Bruny Island, Huonville and further down south. Three Hut Point really is the perfect holiday rental, I highly recommend it!

    Julia2016-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very well kept home. Plenty of space. The beds were very comfortable and heated. Really enjoyed the stay

  • Beautiful location near the water. Peaceful lawns and gardens, and a very well equipped home which had everything we needed. Would suggest taking food as if you arrive late, the service station down the road may have closed.

Cygnet Cabin is located on the waterside in the quiet township of Deep Bay, 10 minutes drive from the artisan Cygnet township. The quiet village area boasts a jetty, boat ramp and incredible views to take in as well as friendly locals to meet and greet along the way. Located 1 hour from Hobart CBD, Salamanca Market and MONA. Note: Minimum 3 night stay. Weekends okay at higher nightly rate.
  • The cabin is beautiful and right beside the lake. A great place to get away from the hustle and bustle for a few days.

  • Great little place with everything you could need for your getaway. Comfy cute place close to the water (lovely views) and a great fireplace for those cold Tassie nights.

  • A beautiful, sleepy location and a cute A frame house by the water. What more could we ask for!!

  • Had a delightful stay at the cottage, it was so cozy with the fire and a perfect spot to explore the area from. Would definitely recommend staying here!

  • This cosy, rustic house offers spectacular views and everything you need for a relaxing getaway. The house is absolute waterfront and just a few steps takes you to the jetty where you can observe marine life, or fish. We enjoyed all aspects of the house including the loft bedroom, spacious kitchen and bathroom, cosy lounge area complete with fireplace, library, and Old Bill (the resident taxidermy goat). We also made good use of the BBQ and spacious balcony overlooking the water. Unrelated to the house, but of note to potential visitors, is that many local cafes, restaurants, wineries etc are closed in the early part of the week. It didn't worry us too much though - we stocked up on local supplies and feasted at home. Thanks for a great stay!

    Jessica2017-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great place to stay and relax. We enjoyed the fireplace and everything was just as described. I would certainly stay there again when in Tasmania

  • A beautiful, private property on the banks of the river. The house is quirky and full of character, and perfectly equipped for relaxation.

    Chris2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a beautiful cabin on the bay. The cabin has character and really felt like a home away from home. We loved tending to the fire and cooking home cooked meals in the kitchen. There is also an additional heater so you don't have to worry about the fire going out overnight. The views from the cabin were beautiful and could be seen from most rooms in the house. Will be back and would highly recommend!

This eco friendly home is located in the quiet waterside village of Deep Bay just 8km from the artisanal township of Cygnet. Incredible views, friendly locals, even a Bikram yoga studio and just 1 hr away from Hobarts Salamanca Market and MONA
Solar passive design means the house stays warm in winter and cool in summer. There is a wood burning stove to make the place extra cosy on cool days or nights. The solar hot water system supplies the hot water - and there is a booster if for any reason the sun don't shine. There are large decks at front and rear of house providing shelter or sun depending on whim. Deck chairs and hamoc available too! The house is "shabby chic" with both a retro and modern style. I like recycling so there are many pre-loved items as well as new and beautiful things.
The natives are friendly, there is boat ramp and jetty at the bottom of the road and don't forget the Bikram yoga centre at the end of the road that does 2 yoga sessions every day except Sat and Sun where just the one. Good coffee and food can be found in Cygnet as well as art galleries, chemists, independent supermarkets and banks.
  • We enjoyed our stay at Annie's place. It's very relaxing with tranquil water views and peaceful location. We loved sitting on the deck chairs on the front deck and watching beautiful sunsets. It was warm and comfy inside, we didn't need to light the fire. A short drive from Cygnet which was great for us as we attended the Folk Festival. Close to Randalls Bay as well which has a nice beach. Highly recommend Annie's place for its relaxing, eco-friendly, peaceful vibe.

    Liz2016-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Annie was overseas at the time of our visit however her communication was fantastic! She ensured that we had all the information required regarding the property and provided neighbour contacts if required. The location was safe, quiet and perfect!

    Leigh2017-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Annie's place was great. We were blessed with beautiful weather and really appreciated the warm sunlight streaming into the house during the day. It was also wonderful to sit by the fire in the evening and enjoy a glass of wine. The area was nice and quiet with decks to relax on and admire the calming water views. In Annie's absence, Naomi (the neighbour) greeted us and was available if needed (and was absolutely lovely). We will be back.

  • This is a real value for money property. The home has everything you need and has plenty of space with lots of character. You do need a car, the nearest village is Cygnet which is 8 mins drive away. The host Annie was away but communicated by email and made the booking and our stay very easy. Would book again.

  • If you are looking for stunning scenery, peace and quiet in a wonderful house, then this is the break for you. We had a wonderful time, the house is located in the most glorious area and only a 5 minute drive into the town of Cygnet a quaint little town with lovely restaurants and cafes, there is a magnitude of scenic drives and plenty to do if you wish, or if not relax by the beautiful fire in Annies house looking over the Hartz mountains and river. simply stunning

    JULIE2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Annie's place. We didn't want to leave. The house is amazing and the location is perfect, with views in both directions. It's scenic and somewhat secluded but also a short drive to town, so very convenient. Hobart is about an hour away, and the ferry to Bruny Island just 20 minutes by car. We went for plenty of wilderness hikes and enjoyed the local wineries. It was just an all round stellar experience.

    Melissa2016-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Annie's place has everything for a great holiday: comfort, great location away from everything yet close to Cygnet and beautiful views across the bay. Annie was easy to communicate with and as she was overseas we were welcomed by her neighbour who was very friendly and helpful as well. Great place!

    Lucien2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was an absolutely beautiful and peaceful place to stay. The views from the verandah over Deep Bay were stunning and the house nice and cosy, especially with the fire going. • This is a unique little loft in a gorgeous part of the Huon Valley, perfect for the single traveler or couple. It's warm, cozy, spotlessly clean and I was spoilt with Naomi's home made breakfast goodies waiting for me. The views of the beautiful garden on one side and the water and mountains in the distance made for a perfectly relaxing place to base myself whilst I spent the days exploring this beautiful food/wine region. The hosts themselves are warm with a great sense of fun and are generous with their time, sharing local knowledge and a glass of red at the end of the day. 10/10 Naomi and Brian, thankyou again for a wonderful stay ! Suzi.

  • From the moment I arrived I was warmly welcomed by Naomi & Brian. I felt very much at home straight away. Each day they were interested to know how I had spent my time & were also mindful of my privacy too. I enjoyed their company, humour and shared interests like old friends. I very much enjoyed my time staying in their loft space - it was warm, clean, comfortable & functional for my needs & with great views of the river & mountains. I'm looking forward to staying with them on my next visit to a most scenic part of Australia, in the near future.

  • A quirky and comfortable place to stay at a very reasonable price. Very quiet and private with warm hospitable hosts.

    Marg2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • I had a lovely stay in the loft. The hosts are very delightful people and most welcoming. Naomi even gave me homemade yogurt that was delicious. The Deep Bay area is worth exploring and an excellent base for the southern region and the drive into Hobart is not a problem. I highly recommend a stay and would return in the future.

    Jeff Mark2017-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you are lucky enough to have the opportunity to stay with Naomi and Brian in Deep Bay you shouldn't hesitate. We planned to stay one night and ended up staying 3, the area beautiful and accessible to some of the most beautiful areas Tassie has to offer, and above all - in the hosts we made friends for life. The loft space was perfectly equipped, comfortable and homely just as we wanted. I wished we had come earlier, and that I didn't have to leave!

    Kirsten2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our time in the loft and would like to have stayed longer. Naomi and Brian are new to the airbnb hosting experience and are learning as they go. They are friendly, approachable people who were more than willing to help us out with any of our requests, and asked for our feedback on how they could improve the experiences of future guests. We would recommend this accommodation to anyone who is passing this beautiful part of Tasmania. Note that currently bathroom facilities are in the main house. Wasn't a problem for us at all.

    Janette2017-01-19T00:00:00Z

Middleton is a quiet rural town with lots of views of the sea and the lovely green fields that only the Huon can provide. Its on the D'Entrecasteaux Channel about 50 km (45 mins drive) south of Hobart, is the perfect location to start your Southern Tasmanian experience. The area has an abundance of Wildlife, Orchards, Vineyards, Restaurants, Cafes, Cheeseries and local stores. Middleton itself has a local store, a boat ramp and beach, with a children's play area. The Channel has an abundance of fish, with a good supply of Flathead! One day you will be delighted with the antics of a pod of dolphins as they leaped and played in the sparkling waters. Another day, when it rains, you will be treated to the sight of wooded hills wreathed in mist, and that’s when you can played cards and other games. You will be looking forward to your next visit to Middleton. The area's big event is Middleton Country Fair, held annually on the first Saturday in February and on your way down the channel in the weeks running up to the fair you will become aware of Scarecrows on fences, in paddocks and up trees. These are no ordinary scarecrows, they are humorously attired and their job is not to scare crows but rather to win a competition, the famous Middleton Country Fair Scarecrow Competition. Each year around 2,000 people attend with over 70 stalls with crafts, tasty foods, plants, animal displays, trade displays, pony rides, sheep shearing, bands, performers, vintage, veteran and classic cars collection, raffles, kid's games.

  • Nickie was very accommodating and welcoming, ensuring that we had a good stay with ample privacy despite hiccups with the water supply and electricity due to bad weather (which she promptly fixed). We fell in love with the house and the view and would not hesitate to return!

  • My friends and I (two couples) stayed at the O Retreat... Nickie made our trip so special and we are so grateful for the 3 days we've spent there. We loved Nickie's beautiful, warm, and heart-felt nature and her revitalising energy (she led us in yoga, meditation and I had an insightful reiki session). The property is also so amazing - stunning outlook, luxe comfort, alignment with the earth, and an indescribable peace and balance. I would recommend this beautiful retreat to anyone, and so you all know - we would have kidnapped Nickie but we thought the world's better off with Nickie (light) shared! We are definitely planning to return to Tassie BECAUSE of the O Retreat some time soon... Philamae x

  • Wow what can I say, what a spot, what an amazing view and what a wonderful property. We stayed for 2 nights and wish it could have been longer. It provided a very restful two nights with all of the facilities you could want. I rarely sit still but was transfixed by the view across to Bruny Island and the wallabies just underneath the deck. Nickie is just the perfect host as well and made sure that as guests we had a lovely stay, she really went above our expectations. I can't recommend the O Retreat highly enough.

  • I really can't rate this place highly enough. Nickie's home is just exquisite, with incredible views and an amazing view. She has put a lot of thought into catering for your every need, from beautiful robes, to bath crystals for the spa, filtered water, breakfast basics. The reiki session I had was fantastic. My only regret was that we didn't get to see more of our host. Will be back for sure.

  • This place was the perfect, secluded getaway that my boyfriend and I desired. The view was amazing, the house was spacious and comfortable, and we couldn't have asked for a nicer or more helpful host. The packages Nickie offered are definitely worth experiencing. We have no hesitation to return, either by ourselves or with a group of friends.

  • The house has everything needed for a comfortable stay. A glass of wine is very much enjoyed with the fireplace going and an amazing view of the river and tree covered hills. Annie is very friendly and easy going and makes a wonderful host. I recommend this part of tassie and I recommend a stay at Annie's place.
