Ski Area
“More advanced skiing with the small resort feel. More affordable lift tickets and lessons. Great affordable food (BBQ) at Black Mountain Lodge (mid mountain). Great kids center. Best part about A-basin is you can easily ski good conditions into early May, sometimes in a t-shirt and shorts. ”

Hot Spring
“Established in 1859, this rustic spa has a large geothermal pool, public male & female vapor caves, as well as private indoor and outdoor soaking pools. They offer a variety of spa treatments. Full disclosure: Nudity is the rule rather than the exception in the public caves which is why they're separated by gender. The public pool (no nudity) is available for families and couples. Not much has changed since 1859, so this place is also very rustic.”

“You've probably enjoyed their award winning beers in bars all over the US, but they whip up a great home-style meal too. Sit on the bar side for an up close glimpse of their actual brewing operations while you enjoy their signature Goldrush Pork Green Chili.”

“One of the closer, shorter, beautiful mountain hikes. You can see snow year round at the glacier. It can be a bit rocky, so wear good shoes, but overall a short and easy hike. Kids may need to be watched carefully with the rocks. ”

“We love this local gem in Georgetown. It's 25 minutes west in a quaint mining town. The salsa's and margs are worth the drive and it's close enough for a quick trip and far enough into the mountains to feel worlds away from the city. ”
