Places to stay in Clophill

Places to stay in Clophill
Brand new house in an elevated position above a quiet rural lane. Great night skies and horses in the field next door. Outside sitting area and private parking. Lovely king sized double bed with views and high quality bedding. Local eggs provided for breakfast and two bikes available. The Acorn is in the heart of the village so it’s very easy to walk anywhere and find 2 great pubs and an Italian restaurant. There is also a Co-op store in the village.
We have stayed in many places and tried to take the good parts from each to make The Acorn comfortable and relaxing for you. There is a stereo and an ekornes stressless relaxing leather chair in the main bedroom. Downstairs is a leather sofa and an extendable dining table to seat 4 and an electric shower in the bathroom. In the fridge will be milk and local free range eggs, there are cereals and various teas and a new frying pan! We have 2 travel cots and a high chair should you need them. We can put another mattress upstairs if needed so it would be possible to sleep 5.
Clophill has a lovely old high street, a very reasonable flower shop, a fine dining Italian restaurant and a gastro pub, The Flying Horse. There is also a tradiononal real ale pub, The Stone Jug, which serves great lunchtime sandwiches Just 3 minutes walk from the doorstep is the village green with lots of children’s play equipment. We are on the Greensand Ridge walk and there are lovely woodland walks from the door. Flitwick station is 10 minutes away as is the old market town of Ampthill with Waitrose and many great coffee shops. Further afield there is Centre Parcs and Woburn Safari Park 15 minutes away.

A unique space to stay in the heart of Ampthill. A very small studio apartment within minutes to all pubs, restaurants and amenities in Ampthill. Travel opportunities include twelve minute bus links to Flitwick national rail and 25 minutes to central MK via car. Would suit guests working locally who would like to stay for up to 4 nights a week and go home at the weekend as it is a private and quiet location with a separate entrance and access to come and go independently.
There is a microwave, very small fridge and a kettle in the kitchenette only. No kitchen sink. The bed is a comfortable double sofa bed. The garden will be used in the early evenings.
We are in walking distance to Ampthill Great park and if you are interested in cycling, running or walking, Centre parcs has a perimeter route which starting from my house is 10K (a beautiful location to exercise). The shower room is a wet room but I have added a shower curtain to avoid the toilet and sink area from getting too wet.
  • Jo is a great host. The outshouse is spacious and has all the necessary amenities.

    Joseph2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay at Jo's. The outhouse was spotless and very comfortable. Would really recommend!

    Jen2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately couldn’t log on to WiFi for duration of stay which could be difficult if needed for work. Maybe a signal booster for the router would solve the problem. Apart from that, an absolutely adorable studio space and Jo is the loveliest person - friendly and helpful. The area is very beautiful too. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back again.

    Nikki2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay in walking distance of all of Ampthill’s amenities that feels safe and secure for a lone female guest while offering privacy because of the separate entrance. It is very comfortable for more than a short stay if you’re happy to eat out as I was. Great value too so I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Newly decorated single room in my 2 bed ground floor flat, close to mainline station into central London. I now have a nice new bathroom with shower. The property has good links to local facilities with a coffee shop 5 minutes walk away, a nice local pub 2 minutes away with good food. Bedford is 20 minute drive as is Luton. Woburn centre parks is 5 minutes away.
The flat is spacious and I am happy to let guests use the lounge area, kitchen and WiFi is also available.
  • Comfortable and as described.

  • It was a pleasure staying at Elaine’s flat and after an exhausting work day I was very grateful to have a room for the night. This is a well presented clean ground floor flat with comfortable single room with wardrobe and chest of drawers. There is nice modern bathroom with excellent shower, warm accommodation and the other good feature is access to free safe off street parking. Also, close to local shops/pub nearby. Thank you Elaine and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if in your area!

The annex is close to Ampthill, Flitwick, Millbrook, Bedford and Milton Keynes. You’ll love it because it's spacious and because of the peace and quiet and the convenience. It's an ideal location for business travellers.
You have your own front door and key. Downstairs there's a kitchenette with a microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and small electric hob along with all the necessary plates, cutlery etc. There's a table and chairs, as well as a comfy sofa, tv and dvd player. The spiral staircase takes you up to the bedroom and shower room. There's a double bed and also a sofa bed.
Ampthill is a small Georgian market town with a rich history that is just waiting to be discovered. The Market Square, Ampthill Great Park, Houghton House and St. Andrew's Church are just a few local gems! The Great Park, landscaped by Capability Brown, was once the hunting ground of Henry VIII and Houghton House is the 'House Beautiful' referred to in Pilgrim's Progress. There are charming independent shops, restaurants and coffee houses as well as a Waitrose.
  • Pictures dont do it justice, great space, very comfortable, close by to flitwick for trains into london and ampthill is great for food.

  • This is our second stay at Kirsty's, and we were just as impressed this time! Everywhere is spotlessly clean, there are little touches that make you feel at home. We appreciated the festive arrangement on the table and box of mince pies, thank you. The location is just on the edge of Ampthill, which is within walking distance to a lovely market town full of pubs and restaurants. The parking is off road and secure. We would highly recommend and would certainly stay again.

    Jane2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely delightful and spacious cottage which is very well-equipped, with lots of extras and a great DVD collection. Kirsty was really lovely and very helpful. The photos and description are accurate. The Annex is situated in a beautiful country spot, up a farm track, but within easy walking distance of the town, and with great walking nearby.

Relax in the quiet village of Wilstead. The garden suite has fantastic views of the garden and rolling hills of Bedfordshire.Full access to your own private shower room & conservatory where you'll find your cooking and laundry facilities. There is a comfy seating area looking over the countryside, which is perfect in the mornings with a cup of coffee. Local pub is within walking distance & off road parking is available. Your garden suite also has it's own private front door and is fully secure.
Wilstead is a stunning village with lovely local pubs and amazing walks in the countryside. It's also placed on all major cummuter links, making it perfect to get to where you need to. The space is clean, warm and inviting, along with a cosy bed and smart television. The garden is stunning and looks over amazing English countryside. Also in the garden there is a lovely decking space where you're more than welcome to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sun go down.
Living in Wilstead is peaceful and useful. Wilstead is perfectly located to get in to the main large town of Bedford and also to all surrounding villages such as the wonderful Georgian village of Ampthill in minutes. The village has two pubs which both serve tasty food, a local post office, shop and pharmacy. One of our favourite things to do is get our wellies on and go for long walks in the countryside as we are lucky enough to step out of the back garden in to the fields and are three minutes away from Wilstead woods. If you want to visit the local areas of Bedford or travel into London in 40 minutes (on the fast train) but still have a little, relaxing village retreat, then this is perfect for you and you will be very welcome.

My house is on a quite Lane in the village of Greenfield . The village lies across Flitwick Moor and there are plenty of nature trails accessible from the bottom of the Lane. The bedrooms each have a double bed with a memory foam mattress. They are light and cosy. Both bedrooms are newly decorated. There is a shared bathroom which has also recently been refurbished. Free street parking. If you have additional requirements please let me know and we can try to organise something.
Fabulous walks around the nature reserve, accessible from the bottom of the Lane. Short drive to Ampthill, a lovely town with independent shops and tea rooms. Short distance away from Flitton, Westoning, Slisoe, Clophill, Maulden and Ampthill.
  • I had a very relaxing and pleasant stay here. Great hosts, and a very clean house. Room was spacious and cozy. Great location, and plenty of car parking space on the road.

In a quiet part of Ampthill & only a 10 minute walk to the town centre, you are welcomed to a comfortable, single bedroom with tea/coffee making facilities. The large bathroom has a bath & separate shower. A continental breakfast is provided.
Although check in is after 6.30pm, this can certainly be negotiated as I only work part time.
Ampthill is a pretty Georgian town with individual shops, several lovely restaurants - Italian x 2, Indian x 2, Chinese, Mexican and many pubs with fine dining including the fairly newly renovated White Hart in the centre of Ampthill. Ampthill Park is nearly with great walks and a cafe.
  • A lovely space to stay within an historic & pretty town. The county town of Bedford with its museums, galleries & river walks is a short drive away. The room (& bed) were very comfortable & the host is knowledgeable about the area. Highly recommended.

Brilliantly located for London Luton airport (12 minutes by rail- 2 minutes walk to the railway station) stay in our magnificent historic manor house, with gorgeous Anglo Indian four poster. We have two other bedrooms available-so can accommodate 6-8 in total-in a self contained area.
The bedroom is in the oldest part of the house, dating from the 1390's. Strangely, however, that fact can only be discerned by visiting the Little Parlour, directly below. The East Bedroom has been heavily Georgianised. It benefits from a fabulous Anglo Indian four poster, dating from around the 1840's. The room is furnished with a variety of antiques, including a wonderful, early 19th century Chinese lacquered cabinet on stand and a Regency toilet mirror. The house itself is one of the oldest in Bedfordshire, retaining a vast number of period features.
Harlington is a pretty mediaeval village. It has a 13th century church and numerous half timbered houses and cottages. There are two pubs and a range of village shops, including an excellent cafe. Best of all, we are only two minutes walk from Harlington mainline station – and you can get to London, door to door, in only 50 minutes. In one hour you can be at Tate Modern. We are brilliantly located for all forms of transport. The M1 motorway is only 1 1/2 miles away, the railway takes you to London, Brighton and further north to Nottingham. Luton airport is 10 minutes train journey away and the M25 is 20 minutes drive. The house is on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the Chilterns National Park. Wonderful walking and cycling can be had from the doorstep of the house. There are lots of quaint local towns and villages (Ampthill and Woburn being prime examples) and endless leisure activities – such as nearby CenterParcs, Woburn golf course (an international venue) and indoor skiing and water skiing at Milton Keynes, 13 miles away. There really is no better touring base for viewing the principal tourist sites of south east and midland England than Harlington.
  • Amazing host and the property sure can take you on a time travel to the past. Lovely house with stunning gardens.

  • The best Airbnb ever! Could not fault a thing. The ambience; cleanliness, amazing comfortable bed and gorgeous bedroom... the whole place was absolutely beautiful - felt like Lady of the Manor! David was the perfect host and served a delicious breakfast.. catering also for my vegan daughter. Very flexible with check out time, which helped us immensely.. Thank you David, we shall return and have already recommended Harlington Manor to my friends and relatives!

  • David was very friendly and accommodating. The pictures were true to what we saw when we arrived. Everything was as it was advertised. The breakfast was an assortment of yogurt, homemade granola, fruit, and warm bread/croissant/baguette with option of tea or coffee. The grounds were beautiful. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience at Harlington Manor.

  • We stayed one night and it was even better than we hoped. This place is luxury and very romantic. David is a perfect host, very welcoming and charming, he made sure we had everything we needed, nothing was too much trouble. The house has a lovely warm family atmosphere and although grand looking is in no way intimidating, just relaxing and comfortable. We had a completely silent undisturbed night's sleep. Everywhere there are beautifiul antiques and the style is so tastefully put together, every detail works with a mix of modern and traditional. The bed was incredible (we were upgraded to Charles 11 room) full on crimson brocade and stands really high, the matress is fabulous, there's wood panelling, window shutters, big oak floorboards and all light excluding heavy silk curtains. David put our champagne on ice in a silver bucket on a silver tray waiting for us on return from dinner. There was a nepresso machine in our room and the biggest en suite bath I have ever seen. Breakfast was whatever we would like and served by the harpsichord. We had an amazing time - will definitely go back!!

Greeted by cookies, snacks and bottle of wine we felt really priviliged to be in this place. Neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful. Greatly positioned to visit half of the UK (you need a car, although bus stop is there as well if you prefer not to drive yourself). • The Old Dairy is a wonderful property and Christina is an amazing host. We were visiting family in the area but this is a fantastic location as it is close to the A1 for heading north or south and the local area is perfect for relaxing walks, local entertainment or Shuttleworth. Thank you so much.

    Richard2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at The Old Dairy. The beautiful surroundings provided exactly the tranquility we were hoping for. Simon and Christina were the most thoughtful hosts adding extra touches that made us feel right at home.

    Leah2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay with Christina. The space is really well designed, has all your could wish for and is wonderfully private, in beautiful countryside. We arrived part by car and part by train into Bedford and both were very easy, and we managed to visit all three local pubs, the air museum, local churches, walks and take in a rugby match. Loved it, thank you so much.

Spacious ground floor single room looking west onto ample driveway. Tea making facilities, internet, television, shower room next door. The shower room has a heated towel rail and heated tiled floor to warm your feet. As well as this room we have three double rooms available to rent and two bathrooms. On most occasions you will have private use of a bathroom, we will check with you before asking you to share. Continental breakfast included, which you can take either in the large country style kitchen/breaklfast room or in the dining room if you prefer. We have a lovely new conservatory which you are welcome to breakfast in for a more leisurely meal over-looking the garden. We tend to attract people staying away from home on business and are happy to consider longer term arrangements. We are into grow your own and cooking so whether you are here just for breakfast or more you will probably have some home grown/made produce. Shefford has several restaurants and several pubs serving food. Shefford has it's own brewery with its own pub the Brewery Tap serving some award winning well priced beers. There is a bus stop outside which takes around 20 minutes to get to either Hitchin or Bedford. Hitchin is an attractive, traditional market town still retaining lots of small family owned shops. It is popular in the evenings and has plenty of restaurants to choose from. The train to London leaves Arlesey every 30 minutes and is a 10 minute bus ride away (where possible we will take you by car) and if you catch the faster train it takes just 30 minutes to get to Kings Cross in London. Bedford again is an attractive market town built around the River Ouse, it is popular with rowers and canal boats. There is an attractive walk alongside the river and the Priory Marina and lakes make a relaxing afternoon excursion. Bedford has a large Italian population so we can recommend some good places to eat if that is your preference. Cambridge is within easy travelling distance by car, but you would need to leave an hour it would be quicker by train but you would need to check if we can take you to the station. Local places to visit less than five miles away are Bird of Prey Centre at Old Warden, Shuttleworth Collection of Aircraft and vehicles, Swiss Garden (temporarily closed for restoration) both at Old Warden. Sandy RSPB headquarters and reserve. Vintage car museum at Henlow. Champneys Spa resort available for day visits. Wrest Park historic house looked after by English Heritage. Chicksands wood www.chicksandsbikepark.co.uk, for off road adventure. Slightly further afield are Whipsnade Zoo, Woburn Safari Park, and National trust Wimpole Hall all worthy of a days visit. We can suggest several pleasant walks nearby if that is your thing. There are also several golf courses and ranges nearby including Woburn. Downstairs communal accommodation will be available to you. You can cook your own food in the kitchen provided I am not using it and that you leave everything as you find it.

  • We stayed with Anne whilst attending a course at The Clophill Centre. It was a very convenient location, less than 10 mins drive away. Anne was a lovely, generous host, sharing her beautiful home and family with us. A tasty breakfast, with home made bread, good selection of condiments. Massive well kept garden. Comfortable bedroom with a large bathroom. Enjoyed littles touches of fresh flowers, the Himalayan salt, candles and ‘the in case you forgot something’ basket in the bathroom,’ ... we felt very pampered. Would not hesitate to return or recommend.

  • What an amazing experience! way more soft touches than that of some 5* hotels!! Room gave us such a comfortable nights sleep, hot drinks cabinet in room, stunning large bathroom and so many kind gestures dotted around. Host offered kindly breakfast which was way more than expected. very modern kitchen with everything needed. Was lovely chatting in the garden and getting some tips for home. would highly recommend and hope work takes us back this way so we can definitely make another booking.

  • This accommodation is in a spacious and comfortable house and offered by pleasant and supportive hosts. As someone who has previously been restricted to motels for business purposes, I found that this stay was a much more personal and interesting experience and I was taken aback at the amount of thoughtful, detailed provision that was offered. Breakfasts were excellent and as the weather was sunny on at least some days I was able to use the extensive garden to sit out - and meet the largest tortoise I have ever encountered in this country!

  • Veronica's house was just what we needed for a family weekend away. There was plenty of space inside to be together; the pool was great too have and use, the games room had snooker, bar billiards, table football and darts which kept us all amused and active despite Storm Jorge outside. We slept well in the beds and enjoyed meals together at the long farmhouse style table in the kitchen. There were painted animals dotted around the walls of the kitchen were very sweet and interesting. We would happily stay again, and make the journey there to do so.

  • Lovely host, spacious place with an excellent pool and facilities. The house has lots of charm and character. If you enjoy snooker, take your own cue as the ones there are a little worn out.

    Roxy2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Anthony is a fantastic host, responsive and friendly and makes you feel right at home. The house is really lovely and exactly what you would expect from a high end country home, its located in a small village but has everything you need near by including a shop and a great pub that does good food. Thanks for the hospitality Anthony, I will be back soon!

    Andy2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Anthony is an excellent host, nothing is too much trouble, my room was as always clean and comfortable.

    Roxy2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • A comfortable, clean and very friendly place, home from home and nothing too much trouble for Anthony he is very helpful.

    Roxy2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • A home from home overnight experience. Welcomed with a much appreciated cuppa. An extremely cosy, comfortable bed. Anthony’s convivial messages throughout put me, as a single lady, very much at ease., especially as he mentioned his wife so I knew they would both be in. Feeling secure is so important nowadays. Venetia and I nattered happily over an informal breakfast, she’s easy to chat with and very friendly. Would definitely recommend for short or longer stays.

Spacious upstairs twin room with a bed which can be made into a double if required. Tea making facilities, wi-fi, television, lovely newly fitted bathroom with shower over bath. We have two double rooms, a twin and a single to rent with two bathrooms available but will check with you before accepting booking if a bathroom share is likely. We have a long drive so plenty of room to park your car off the road. Continental breakfast included, which you can take either in the large country style kitchen/breakfast room or in the dining room if you prefer. In the summer it is lovely to eat outside in our attractive garden (weather permitting!) Evening meal by prior arrangement. Cambridge is within easy travelling distance by car, by public transport it is not so easy but we may able to take you to the train station if necessary. Chicksands wood (website hidden), for off road adventure. Opening soon the new Centre Parcs at Woburn is only 20 minutes away and will take day visitors. Slightly further afield are Whipsnade Zoo, Woburn Safari Park, and National trust Wimpole Hall all worthy of a days visit. We can suggest several pleasant walks nearby if that is your thing. There are also several golf courses and ranges nearby including Woburn.
  • I needed a space close to where I grew up to deal with some family matters. So I am extremely familiar with the area. Was looking for a room with two beds and private bathroom. Accommodation's look very much like the photos. I liked the bathroom in particular and given my other criteria this looked like an ideal choice. Anne's place is clean and the bedroom very cozy - plus comfortable beds. What I didn't expect was the delightful hospitality including bed and breakfast like service in the mornings. We were able to enjoy breakfast in the conservatory at the back looking out onto a lovely English garden. It was very quiet upstairs which was nice too. Anne provided us with lots of suggestions and information on local things to do. I had an advantage of course knowing of many of these places but for someone new to the area this would clearly we valuable - sort of an in-house concierge. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in the area!

Brilliantly located for London Luton airport (12 minutes by rail- 2 minutes walk to the railway station) stay in our magnificent historic manor house (recently rated by the London Times as one of the top three UK B and B's) , with gorgeous Regency four poster. We have two other bedrooms available-so can accommodate 6-8 in total-in a self contained area.
The bedroom has an enormously high beamed roof. One can see where the original mediaeval windows were (they have since been blocked in). The current windows were installed in Jacobean times. The room is very comfortable, with its attractive four poster bed.
Wonderful walking can be had from the doorstep of the house. There are lots of quaint local towns and villages (Ampthill and Woburn being prime examples) and endless leisure activities – such as nearby CenterParcs, Woburn golf course (an international venue) and indoor skiing and water skiing at Milton Keynes, 13 miles away. There really is no better touring base for viewing the principal tourist sites of south east England than Harlington.

Luxury accommodation, only 12 minutes by train from Luton Airport, in beautiful medieval manor house, the earliest parts of which date from the late 14th century, with royal and literary connections, in conservation village brilliantly located for London, Oxford, Cambridge and Stratford-upon-Avon. Charles II slept in the house and John Bunyan was interrogated and briefly imprisoned here in 1660.
This is a magnificent double bedroom, with upholstered early 19th century state bed, complete with ultra luxurious Vi-Spring bed mattress. The room, which was slept in by Charles II, King of England, benefits from magnificent rich crimson damask wallpaper, wonderful 17th to early 19th century antiques, Persian rugs and a superb en suite, with enormous bath and integral shower. The bathroom has heated towelrail and underfloor heating. There are views over the garden and the adjoining village common, Bury Orchard.

We like to think that we are top hosts. We really enjoy running a B and B – and we like to think that shows. We have won numerous awards, so perhaps others agree! We have been voted in the top three bed and breakfasts in the UK by the London Times. The Independent newspaper placed us in the top 10 British Bed and Breakfasts, whilst Sawdays have placed us as their number one historical property. The house is brilliantly located for journeys to London, Oxbridge and Luton.
The Wainscot is a very light and bright room, with exposed Jacobean floorboards, panelling and beams. Some of the panelling is 16th century, having been relocated from the Tudor Great Chamber-now the Garden Room.
Harlington Manor is situated in the pretty village of Harlington (which has some 16 listed buildings) which has beautiful views over the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The house is just 15m from Milton Keynes, 38m from Cambridge, 40m from London and 12m from London Luton Airport-to which trains run all night from Harlington Station. The station is three minutes walk away. The journey time to the airport is 12 minutes. The house is 1 mile from J12 of the M1.
