Holiday Rentals in Clunes

Just booked in Clunes

Self contained idyllic cottage near Botanic Gardens in Daylesford. Sleeps 1-5. Wood fire, gasfire, bathtub, lush and private garden, full of surprises! Do not use Instant Book please if booking for a group, as the second QS bedroom is a separate listing.
The house consists of a QS bed and two singles, also a second space with another QS bed but this is a separate listing as it has a higher price than the singles. Only guests staying at the Pip can book this space, there will be no other guests present. The base price is for two guests sharing QS bed, if you want separate beds a 30 linen fee will apply. Let me know so I can make up an extra bed. The two singles are 30 each. The extra QS space is 90 per night for two and needs to be booked separately here: https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/17224857. Though technically that makes it 6 beds, I can only accommodate 5 due to local regulations. If this is confusing you at all, just send me a message before booking so we are clear. Because of limitations to have the rooms at different prices on Airbnb, don't book for 5 on this listing as the price will be incorrect. The first QS bed is firm sprung, the second one is medium soft sprung. The two singles are foam mattresses. Firewood and kindling provided, but not in summer.
Daylesford is totally gorgeous and the location of the Pip is great, just below the Botanic Gardens. You can walk down the hill to the main street but it is a steep walk home, uphill all the way! That is the price you pay for elevation, tranquility and views. The nearest coffee shop is Wombat Hill House in the Botanic Gardens, a couple of minutes behind the house. Main street is five minutes walk there, fifteen home (the hill!!!). Daylesford is very hilly in places.
  • Well where to begin? Sandra's home is a world onto itself. It's breathtaking decor and stunning gardens is a testament to her extraordinary talents in making every detail of her house come to life. From the moment I entered I was transported into an alternative reality, one which saw me as an artisan in any field I could imagine. Her home doesn't just offer shelter, it inspires. A glass of wine by the fire surrounded by hand painted walls, floor to ceiling bookshelves and fairy lights, or a stroll down the garden path enveloping you in smells and textures, opening up only enough to allow you to discover another hidden treasure. All this, and I could drift into alter egos of being anything and anyone. Sandra herself was so responsive to my messages and explained everything beautifully on arrival, even if that was close to 10pm! I will certainly hope to stay again. Thank you Sandra and congratulations on a beautiful home!

    Alex2017-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra is an awesome host...she showed us around and explained everything in detail, including how to use the wood fire properly. She has put so much detail into every room and the garden, it really is a fairytale home from home ❤️....we didn't want for anything and the main Daylesford strip is only a 5min walk!! (10 mins back uphill) My only wish is that we'd stayed longer, 2 nights is not enough.....

    Dawn2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful experience at the Queensberry Pip. The place is beautifully decorated and the hand painted walls tell an incredible story. Sandra was a great host and we would recommend this place to anyone. We hope to stay there again soon.

  • An exceptional place - absolutely delightful! Sandra has created a little gem with delights all around! It was lovely to meet her & be shown around. I would highly recommend this quirky little house.

    Jayne2016-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra met us on arrival and showed us her gorgeous cottage and the garden. Stepping into Queensbury Pip feels like stepping into a story book, loved the board games, tea cupboard, seasonal garden and the super comfy beds, would have loved to stay longer.

    Tess2014-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Queensberry Pip is an unparalleled Airbnb experience. The house is beautiful and eclectic with every wall and ceiling painted by Sandra herself, most with a cheerful story about a baron travelling around Daylesford! Everywhere you look, there's a whimsical piece of art or a thoughtful sign or note; it would take days to discover them all. Sandra also stocks the place with a great collection of books, movies and CDs, perfect for curling up next to the gas fire under a fuzzy blanket, or one of the fur coats hanging in the closet. We arrived to the Pip after a wet hike in the Grampians and so appreciated the warm and cozy ambience of the house as well as Sandra's great tips and generosity. We couldn't recommend this place enough!

    Kevin & Serena2016-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Sandra for the experience of staying in your whimsical house! The garden is amazing, the artwork is beautiful, the bed is comfortable. A lot to see, a lot of places to relax, you will never be bored in Pip Queensberry. Sandra was a lovely host, showed me around and explained how everything worked. Delightful stay and hope to come back soon.

    Jen2016-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved staying at this cosy retreat! It has everything you need, regarding amenities, is just a 2 minute drive from town and is a mini adventure inside, checking out all the eclectic add-ons. There is a gorgeous garden and sitting room as well. I highly recommend booking with Sandra!

  • Simply awesome! Sue's place really is a wonderful little spot to spend a couple of quiet days away from the city. Everything is on hand that you would ever need and if you like to cook then the kitchen alone is worth the trip! The garden, wood fire, bathroom, bedding and the balcony view looking over the gully toward the sunrise are all perfect. Just a short walk to the Main Street of Clunes if you need extra supplies and a quick 15 minute drive to local wineries if you need to stock up. Otherwise just bring your favourite ingredients, a book or two (I recommend a guitar and a tune for your lover) and kick back on the day bed overlooking the garden. We could have stayed for a week! Thanks so much Sue you have created something quite special there & your hospitality was just superb:)

    Andrew2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • The stone steps of clones is the place to be if you are looking to take some time off the hectic city life. My family and I stayed for 2 nights and it was all we needed to unwind. Sue was easy to communicate with and had music playing to welcome us to the retreat. My boyfriend and I are already planning for the next trip back here.

    Tian2015-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Sue for making such a well thought out and beautiful place to stay. Lots of lovely touches like comfortable linen and Aesop bathroom products and a cake on arrival. The garden setting surrounded by Robinia trees is very nice. The window seat in the kitchen is beautiful and a fantastic place to curl up with a book and a cuppa. Look forward to a return visit.

    Penelope2016-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at XXII stone steps in Clunes was fantastic, but one night was not enough. The accommodation was smazing, old charm blended with modern luxury and beautiful scenic views across the valley. If you want a peaceful get away then do yourself a favour and stay longer than one night!

    Nick2016-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely lovely weekend at this welcoming cottage with its pretty garden. We enjoyed peace and quiet, a fire, delicios apple cake, bookshops, climbing mount beckworth and wallabies through the kitchen window. All creature comforts were provided Thankyou Sue ! Katrina and Bruce. PS we forgot to toast a marshmallow ... We will definitely have to return !

    Katrina2016-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place! Two nights just wasn't enough. Such a lovely house and town to unwind in. The house was clean, beautifully decorated, had comfy beds with fluffy pillows and cosy crisp linens, a fantastic kitchen with sharp knives and everything you could want! We most enjoyed sitting in front of the fire, feeding the birds and devouring that amazing apple cake. We will be back! Thanks for a lovely stay

    Rebecca2016-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • The little details and extra touches made our stay truly wonderful. The cottage is packed with charm, style and comfort and comes complete with many extras that you don' find elsewhere - music playing when we arrived, fresh flowers on the mantelpiece, homemade baked goodies in the kitchen and a wonderfully deep bath with Aesop body products. A lot of thought and attention has been paid to the details that made us feel like actual guests, not customers. For those seeking a quiet, relaxing, stylish getaway we highly recommend X11 Stone Steps.

    Angela2015-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Sue's for the weekend to celebrate our friend's hen's. The whole experience was AMAZING! Our welcome was warm, lamps on, music on and delicious apple tea cake on arrival. Sue's attention to detail is what made the experience for us, from the fresh cut flowers, to the luxurious linen and the luscious Aesop bathroom products. The property is beautiful, as others have said, it's old world charm meets new world luxury and the sunrise view form the veranda is gorgeous. The kitchen was so well stocked, everything we needed to prepare meals was there and each morning we were delighted by the coffee machine. If you're staying at Sue's and have a car, a drive to Bress Winary for lunch is a must. We will definitely be back to stay. Thank you for spoiling us Sue :)

A quaint historical miners cottage set in the humble town of Clunes. This cottage was once a 4 x Mayor owned property back in the 1860's. 11 children used to live in this home. It is set on a 1/4 of an acre, with some interior attributes including a newly renovated stylish bathroom, with beautiful claw foot bath & rain shower, boasting a fire place in the main living area, luxury bedding & mattress' & a cosy living space. Instagram - @homeofted
This home will become yours, so get cosy, get comfy & make it your own. BATHROOM: Let all your stress melt away in this newly renovated bathroom...unwind in the timeless wrought iron claw foot bath. Other features include; marble bench tops, matt black tap ware, and shower boasting a beautiful subway tiled bench to sit on whilst the rain shower pours over you, embracing the scenery of the surrounding trees. FRONT ENTRANCE: This is a work in progress. Current flooring is temporary with two beautiful new barn doors concealing the washing machine and shelf space. KITCHEN: This is next on the face-lift list! But still a very accomodating space for you to make a nice Sunday roast, or a a big cook up with induction cooking. A nice dining table for 4 people to devour the feast! BEDROOMS: Master room has a divine king bed, with huge TV. In the mornings you can lift the blinds to watch the sunrise and if you're lucky the kangaroos might just be enjoying their breakfast in the backyard which you can watch from bed. The second room again, has 'the cloud', a soft mattress which is just yummy to sink into! Also a beautiful view from the front yard and when opening the blinds you can see rolling hills. THE STUDY NOOK: A nice large white trestle table & comfy chair allows the space and outlook (backyard views) to embrace nature whilst drumming up some creativity whether it's drawing, reading a book or working away on your laptop. LIVING ROOM: A really comfy goose feather couch to spread out on, all cuddled up with a nice throw to enjoy the cheese platter and wine by the fire. This space is very relaxing (which is why the Tv is hidden in the bedroom). ENJOY!
This cottage is in the heart of Clunes! Only 5 min walk to the main st where you will find some gorgeous cafes and places to roam. The town is like stepping back into the gold rush era, with streetscapes straight out of a colonial history book. This picturesque and laid-back town was once the fifth largest in the State and had rivers of money flowing through it. It is one of the most original and intact gold towns in Australia. The main street is still wide enough to turn a horse and wagon & does on Market day! Clunes has become a really popular weekend destination for bushwalkers, gold prospectors, treasure hunters, history buffs and those seeking a romantic getaway to the country. Complementing these attractions is a range of sumptuous food and wine! Clunes is now forging a future based on a new sort of gold - books - and the town's intact heritage streetscape provides the perfect back drop to a weekend of browsing across a cluster of permanent bookshops. The town hosts the popular Booktown Festival every May and has attained recognition as an International Booktown - the only town in Australia to have such status. Neighbouring suburbs worth exploring would be Talbot (10 min drive), Creswick (15 mins) and of course beautiful Daylesford (25-30 mins).
  • We loved this rustic little cottage - just an easy 1 block walk to town and on a a very quiet street. Tara was a great hostess, the cottage was clean and well-stocked As it is being restored, the floors are a bit cold so bring you slippers There's a nice wood-burning stove and the beds were VERY comfy! Looking forward to our next visit Thanks again!

  • Quaint cottage that is well furnished but still a work in progress. Look for the small number 15 on sign post. Back door is facing where you would drive your car into. Great roomy bathroom. Use the big door draft stoppers as the insects like to come in when the lights are on.

Our 2 bedroom house sits on the edge of town with spectacular views of the countryside but within walking distance to Clunes town centre. Warm in winter with a wood burner and cool in summer with evaporative cooling the house is very comfortable and can sleep up to 4. Enjoy a coffee in town followed by a hike to the top of Mt Beckworth. Have a great lunch at Creswick's Farmers Arms Hotel before exploring a historic town, a winery or the Woollen Mill after which you relax at Apple Tree House.
The house has a spacious and light feel to it and allows for great entertaining both inside and out. There are extra chairs and two dining tables plus a smaller table to accommodate 12 people for a sit down meal. This means to move the tables from inside and outside together to create a long table with chairs.
We are located almost at the end of our street with neighbours next to us but we have a free open lookout at the back from the kitchen window and deck.
  • We booked this place as I wanted a nice quiet relaxing getaway to celebrate my birthday. Ellis place was this and more. We got there and my boys and I loved this little quaint cottage with its Scandinavian feel and Beautifully decorated rooms. it is comforable and clean and is close enough to town by walk. Clunes is lovely with very friendly people and charming little shops. We will def be back.

    Ian2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely relaxing weekend in Clunes. The house was within walking distance to the town and an easy drive to the bigger towns if you want to go anywhere. Peaceful and quiet. And the kids loved the back garden.

    Samantha2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Apple Tree House is gorgeous and Ellis made us feel very welcome, providing detailed information about Clunes and surrounding attractions. The house itself is a very cute cottage and is well appointed with a lovely fireplace (plenty of wood), comfy furniture and an excellent kitchen if you wish to cook for yourself. We very much appreciated the coffee machine (pod style) and coffee left for us too. A wonderful and relaxing place to stay and very conveniently located within Clunes. Our only issue was that the bookstores which we had come to explore were not open on weekdays, though this was obviously our fault for lack of research. If you are coming to Clunes for this reason please be aware that most of the bookshops are only open on weekends(URL HIDDEN)

Want to escape the rat race then head to Clunes, only 90 minutes from Melbourne. A picturesque town made famous from the gold rush days and is host to the International Annual Booktown Festival in May. It is a great place to explore and find little treasures. Clunes Cabins is just 2km from town where there are cafes, bookshops and the local country pub. It is within short driving distances to the townships of Ballarat, Maryborough and Daylesford. Want to keep things local. Here are our suggestions: •Eastern Peake Vineyard and Wineries: 12.7km, 12 min drive •Fraser St – The main street of Clunes including restaurants, pubs, book stores and Mount •Beckworth Winery cellar door: 1.9km, 2 min drive
  • The house was a bit hard to find because it is just at the corner of the street, silly me missed it couple of times. Many thanks to a friendly local offered me the right direction. So lovely people out there. The house was beautifully arranged. Those free tea and milk let us feel so welcome to this place. As well as those entertaining staff, always keep everyone of us occupied. This house is well equiped with all the things we need. The manager just lives nearby, arrived in 5 mins when we had electricity problem (thumb up for that). There is also a small town down the hill for us to purchase food and drink, and the patrol station when our cars almost ran out of gas. We had a great time there.

Thanks to Lisa, who came to the rescue late on Saturday afternoon and made the check-in process so smooth and stressfree. The cabins are just as described. Extra fleece blankets had been left inside the bedding to keep us warm at night and the heater was left on for when we arrived. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. Was great waking up to peace and quiet away from the busy city life.

  • Great location and excellent facilities. Having a place like this near town meant our whole family could get together for a weekend

  • We loved staying at the Clunes Cabins. The township of Clunes was a surprising little town with a lot of style! The cabins were clean and picturesque. Perfect for a quiet getaway.

  • Very friendly and accomodating hosts! The cabins are homely and cosy and the deck was a great place to sit and take in the view.

  • The cabin was excellent. That had all we need for a get-away weekend. Thank you very much for having us!

  • The place was very cosy and warming. Accurate information and easy to access.

  • Not a good start to the process of booking this accommodation which is no fault of the host. Mainly culprit being AIRBNB not conveying the accurate information entered in the booking to the host. Coming to the stay itself was good. Probably good thing is there is limited phone coverage meant we could spend more time talking with each other. Probably most common thing in this period would be bugs and there are heaps of them in and around the cabins. We had a minor issue and it was rectified quickly even though it was Christmas day. Overall nice experience of country life.

A Gorgeous Accommodation in the Heart of Clunes Madam Saddler is close to restaurants and dining. A great effort to detail this little cottage, and is a perfect place where guests can be spoilt. “Beautiful”, “gorgeous”, “charming”, “comfortable”, “luxurious” are all words which have been overused for a long time, but somehow for Madam Saddler, they don’t seem to be enough! Madam Saddler is suited for couples.
  • Wow!! I really cannot rate Madam Saddler highly enough. Madam Saddler has everything that one could wish for in a luxurious accommodation venue and more. Thank you Sam for your wonderful hospitality and for giving us the opportunity to experience your wonderful creation. We will definitely be back to stay again, hopefully soon! Sharon & Alistair

  • Wow! Just Wow!! We just spent the most amazing two nights here. The welcome from Sam and his family when we arrived was lovely! The fire was roaring (very necessary on a cold Clunes night) and it was so cosy! The kitchen was fully stocked with anything you might need - so we settled in with a home cooked roast dinner, wine, whiskey & boardgames - which made for a perfect night one! On first morning we were lucky to be there for the monthly farmers market (2nd Sunday each month) - literally at your doorstep! We had fresh juices and pastries, I bought origami earrings made be a local that are so cool! We went for the day to Sovereign Hill (that was great), and stayed for the evening sound & light show (didn’t find that was worth the price - wouldn’t recommend). However the best thing was coming home to the fire going! Sam kindly offered to pop in and start it up a little before we came home! Well above and beyond what we expected, and so appreciated on a 0oC night! The house had the most gorgeous linens, cutlery, glassware etc, we really did feel spoilt! The photos almost don’t do the place justice as it’s just so beautiful inside and out. The only thing I would warn people about - is the total relaxation you’ll have with no internet or phone reception (if you’re on Optus network like we were). However we enjoyed every minute of not being contactable ;) Bring games, dvds and music; as the TV, DVD and Soundbar are there if you need them. Check out the Mount Beckworth Wines at their cellar door across the road (I bought a couple of their Shiraz 2014 - delish), and the BLT was AMAZING at Bread and Circus Provedore (the Pesto scramble eggs were a bit average). Thank you Sam for a truely memorable stay!

120 acre mixed rare breed organic farm outside Ballarat specialising in dairy goats . The house is 150 years old and built from local stone. Wood fired four oven AGA cooked meals . Double rooms and a childs room. Private sitting and bathrooms .
Mount Bolton has a rich history and was once the hideout for the famous bushranger Captain Moonlight . Lots of things to do and see both on the farm and in surrounding villages. We have four very friendly dogs including two extremely amiable Irish Wolfhounds who sleep inside on couches. This is a genuine working farm and very welcoming .
Learmonth is a little village with a good hearty pub meal or a more upmarket meal at the Cafe 321 . There is a big lake and plenty of historic buildings. Mount Bolton is close to Creswick, Clunes , the famous Lambley Nursery and Daylesford. There are a number of weekend farmers markets .
  • We had a very comfortable stay at Kate & Alex's beautiful property. They were very welcoming and accommodating, and we loved the huge kitchen living area with wood oven and lots of comfortable places to relax. We'll definitely return.

  • Kate provides good old fashioned service. Right from the start Kate made us feel welcome and at home. Kate is an exceptionally generous host, with home cooked breakfasts using farm produce and she also invited us to share 1 evening meal of delicious seafood pasta and also opened bottle of local champagne! They also escorted us to a local market and gave us advise re local attractions and restaurants etc. we had many common interests so it was like staying with friends. A truly delightful stay .

  • We had a fantastic stay! The best stay we ever had on Airbnb! Kate and Alex is amazing! Very warm and friendly. Kate went the extra mile and cooked an awesome dinner too. Kate even took my son on the 4x4 up the hills to see the animals up close and that was really the highlight of our trip! Thank you Kate and Alex for being a fabulous host!

  • It isn't often you get to hang out with people as welcoming as Kate and Alex. I was one of several people they had enfolded into their farming life. The bedroom was full of books and pictures, the bed was comfy. The living area included the kitchen and a great room and at any one time there were a number of people and several dogs enjoying food and conversation. The farm is full of various animals and birds not to mention many fruit trees, herbs, and vegies. I LOVED being there. I recommend Kate's Farmstay it is iconic and very friendly.

  • Kate and Alex are warm, accomodating, inviting, passionate, eccentric, refined people with lots of life and farming skills to share. We found our weekend stay at the farm enjoyable, relaxing, and invigorating. We loved sharing wine and meals together and trying local cheese, farm eggs, bacon and goat's milk. We got personal tours of the farm- met, pet and cuddled all the animals, had all our questions on farming life answered and even got a ride on the tractor to the mountain top to see the spectacular views. Our 17 month old son was so delighted to be able to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), pat, cuddle, and feed the many animals on the farm, including the baby goats, baby lambs, baby chicks, donkeys, alpacas, cows, ducks, liar birds, pheasants, quails, chickens and the most friendly dogs and cat he has ever met. Our bedroom was attractively vintage decorated and the bed cosy with an electric blanket and heater in the room for comfort. The open kitchen and living area is decorated with eclectic furniture, pictures and antiques, and is the hub for great conversation, meals and relaxing. Kate and Alex also had many books on many topics for us to indulge in(URL HIDDEN)We would not hesitate to recommend this farmstay to anyone, and will be visiting again. Thank you Kate and Alex for making your farmstay a memorable family holiday.

  • I found Kate and her home to be very welcoming and comfortable. The location, my rooms, house and surrounding grounds and farm yard were well maintained and homely. I experienced the hospitality of a b&b and yet felt comfortable enough to wander and come and go as I pleased. I can not offer any suggestions for improvement. I only stayed a few days but am keen to return with my daughter for a longer period. Thank you Kate for a lovely break. Just what I needed.

Nice sized lounge area with big flat screen. Good sized bedrooms. And massive bathroom. House looks inviting from the moment you pull in and the surrounding landscapes are stunning. And the horses and ponies (which we chose to have a lot of interaction with!!!) were the highlight of the trip for my two little boys. Diane was a great host, quick and easy to communicate with and the house was spotless. We'll definitely be back and have already told all our friends to come too!

We offer short breaks in our comfortable homestead near the historic city of Ballarat and in an area of quiet beauty. You would be house guests of the family. Bed and breakfast are included, and lunch and dinner can be arranged if this is what you want.
The farm has been in the family over four generations and is located in a quietly beautiful part of Central Victoria in the farming community of Waubra, 20 minutes from the exciting and historic city of Ballarat, the attractions of which may be seen if you use the internet to "Visit Ballarat". The old homestead has been restored and renovated in recent years and provides very comfortable accommodation. Gentle and more vigorous walks are available from the house and many other things to do may be seen in the Guidebook.
We have some animals, including sheep and a (normally) friendly alpaca! What we offer would suit one or two couples, who may have up to two children, who like comfortable surroundings with quiet activities around the house or more active visits to many interesting places nearby, especially in Ballarat.

  • This house is even better than the pictures. It is decorated beautifully, is comfortable, family friendly but still "romantic getaway" material. A gorgeous sunny garden. The thoughtful touches included eggs for breakfast, fresh flowers, snuggly rugs on the couch, bath salts, shampoo and hairdryer in the bathroom, and a well stocked pantry of spices oils etc. Shelley responded quickly to questions and gave good local advice. We loved it and would choose this property again most definitely.

  • Shelly was very responsive to our requests but to be honest she had pre-arranged nearly everything in advance so the whole process was very smooth with little that we needed to ask for. From the key access, through to the fluffy towels, comfy lounge room, decor, and lastly the delicious country eggs, the whole stay was very enjoyable. We had only expected somewhere to sleep, but it turned out to be a real treat for us. Thank you Shelley for creating such a wonderful accommodation environment

  • Spent one night here - lovely, clean and homey. Shelley was a very helpful host. Would happily stay here again and recommend to others!

    Candice2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Given the purpose of the need of accommodation, Shelley's response to the booking and my queries was warm and prompt. We needed to stay in the Clunes area to avoid a late trip back to Melbourne, so didn't access the accommodation until the evening. The house was exactly what we needed - as I had my elderly mother with me we needed a place without stairs. It warmed quickly (we turned the heating on when we got there), was spotless and had plenty of provisions for breakfast. Shelley checked in with me that we arrived and that all was OK (it was). She also provided us with a later check out (midday) which we hadn't asked for, but appreciated the offer. Clean and comfortable accommodation, as shown in the photos. Would definitely stay there again if I needed accommodation in the Clunes area.

    Elizabeth 2016-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Shelley's house is absolutely beautiful. We had a great stay and really appreciated all her little touches that made travelling with young children so much easier - from a lovely box of toys and pencils to leaving out crumpets and chocolate for the trip home. We would highly recommend this airbnb experience.

  • The cottage was adorable. Fantastically comfortable beds, beautiful furnishings, lovely fire for winter and well-equipped kitchen. Came for the market day and felt like a local strolling back and forth ! Christine was a perfect host. Excellent communication, helpful and welcoming. Highly recommend if you are staying in this region.

  • Our weekend away was spur of the moment and once we had seen the listing for the cottage, we really wanted to stay and made contact immediately. We were responded to promptly by Christine and we literally packed our bags and headed up on the lovely drive to Talbot. Christine made us feel incredibly welcome and even found us pizza trays which we had left at home...Christine took much pride in showing us around her cottage and gave us tips on what to do in the area and had even left us with fresh fruit and lovely breakfast basics. We had arrived approx 4.30pm from Melbourne and Christine had the fire already going which was a blessing on a cool autumn day. The cottage was just beautiful with lots of quirkiness and character and just very comfortable. The cottage had everything you needed for an enjoyable stay. Talbot is a quiet but interesting town with a wonderful book shop (slightly bent books) run by lovely Helen. On the Sunday, we had a relaxing morning before leaving about 12pm. Mum and I relaxed, drank wine, ate well, played scrabble, slept well in the gorgeous beds and enjoyed the lovely fire. We would thoroughly recommend Christine's cottage and would lovely to go back in a heartbeat :) Thank you Christine xx

The location is a great starting point from which to enjoy the wonderful wineries of the Pyrenees. And it's only a few steps to the excellent Talbot farmers market. We'd highly recommend this atmospheric and very comfortable place to stay.

  • Christine was lovely and very welcoming when we arrived. The cottage itself was beautifully appointed and she has been so thoughtful in what she provides for guests. The beds were so comfortable and there were so many things to discover. The garden and courtyard were divine- such a credit to her hard work. The township is fascinating - so many lovely old buildings have been saved and it is a quick drive to Clunes or Maryborough. We had a very relaxing stay and loved the nursery at the restored railway station just up the road. We would love to visit on a Market weekend as it sounds fantastic. A lovely location for a relaxing stay.

We are able to see magnificent sunsets, glorious full moons and starry skies, breath the beautiful fresh air and use local mineral water. We are located 9kms from Creswick. Twice daily train service (Maryborough line) is available to Creswick from Melbourne, with more frequent services into Ballarat, then bus to Creswick. A direct airport bus is available to & from Creswick, by arrangement. Transport from Creswick is available.
The area around us is very fertile farmland which was also has a rich history in gold mining. Our cattle graze to the back fence of the cottage, whilst our neighbours graze sheep and raise crops. Nearby we have access to the Creswick and also Hepburn Regional parks where there are some terrific walks and lakes. Numerous cafes and pubs in Creswick as well as Daylesford and Ballarat.
  • Second time here and loved it! So clean, so organised, so beautiful. 10/10 Thanks Sue!

  • We had a lovely stay at the cottage and all of the extra little complimentary items were a very nice touch. Great place to stay and highly recommended.

  • Heatherington Cottage was a well-appointed and lovely place to use as a base to explore the region. We made full use of the open fire, and enjoyed relaxing in a quiet and peaceful rural location.

  • The cottage was fabulous, spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. We had everything we needed and more. I can picture a very nice romantic getaway but it was just my little boy and I and out host had left an extra tub of toys for him to play with, which was so thoughtful. All the fresh extra breakfast things were brilliant. The farm setting was so beautiful and tranquil. Really enjoyed the fireplace and spa baths. Would definitely recommend and will hopefully be back again soon.

    Lucy2017-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay. Hetherington Cottage has everything you could possibly need. Provisions for a hot breakfast was a really nice touch. Definitely recommend for a quiet relaxing weekend!

    Sarah2015-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • As two retired friends travelling from Melbourne together, Heatherington Cottage had lots of little extras that meant we could use the cottage as a very comfortable and central base for our explorations of the delightful Daylesford, Ascot, Clunes, Smeaton area. Our host had thoughtfully provided all we could need, including even a picnic hamper and backpack. We particularly enjoyed the open fire. The house yard and farm paddocks were quite open, as might be expected, but the skyscapes were wonderful.

  • The church gave me what I wanted on this trip... reliable WiFi, a warm place to stay, and atmosphere. Its size allowed me to accommodate a flow of guests during my week-long stay and the large lounge area, the dining table (which we also used to play the provided board games) and the seating around the open kitchen's island bench, gave us lots of places to socialize. I enjoyed my week there very much despite its being too cold to use any of the outdoor areas. It started to feel like home.

  • A great space where my family and I spent a couple of nights. A well equipped kitchen for cooking, and nice sitting areas. A few minor details could use some attention (no milk/sugar, no iron, bbq area was rather dusty), but otherwise recommended!

  • Great place in a peaceful location, we had a great time exploring the surrounding country lanes on our bikes. Claire is a great host, very friendly and approachable. Our kids were enjoying interacting with the farm animals and loved the tractor ride with Alasdair. Great weekend despite very average weather!

  • This little place is exactly as described. Slightly off the Main Street, it's still within 2 minutes Drive of everything on the Main Street. I stayed here for 2 nights during the garden lovers weekend, and found it was lovely and central to ALL the town gardens as well as the flower show etc in the town hall. Margaret has a myriad of information on what to see and do, in the flat, and if I had not already known what I wanted to do, I would have been spoilt for choice. Don't book something boring and generic, spoil yourself with this gorgeous piece of history!

The ‘Bohemian Art Studio' is a working art studio. It is a one bedroom self contained unit with lounge, dining and kitchen facilities. It has its own private deck area with stunning views across Creswick village and the forestry area.
Deb uses the space as her art studio when there are no guests and has decorated it in a very colourful, bohemian and eclectic manner. It has her own art work and includes Moroccan, Chinese, Japanese and Balinese art and flavours. It’s a cosy, comfortable place with cathedral ceilings which make it feel very spacious. All linen provided of course and there is a DVD player (with instructions and a few DVDs). The Studio is well equipped and has a small oven/griller and an induction cooktop. If you have never used induction cooking before – it’s instant heat and very ferocious so be watchful. There is a gas BBQ for you to use as well. Please ensure all kitchen equipment is clean on your departure and that if you have used the BBQ that the gas bottle is turned off. The house is in a quiet street, walking distance to Creswick village, cafes, shops and all its charm. Enjoy your private entry and the tranquillity for a perfect country getaway.
Creswick is a charming village with all the amenities visitors would need. There are cafes, delis, gift shops, 2 beautiful lakes in town and nearby, a museum, pubs and of course the Creswick Woollen Mill where visitors can meet the alpacas. We are 15 minutes from both Ballarat and Daylesford which each have great tourism options and 12 minutes from historic Clunes. Creswick has a great monthly market 3rd Saturday of the month and Sunday hosts the famous and huge Talbot market which is about 20 mins away and well worth a visit if you like markets. Our recommendation for a good meal is the American Hotel which is a 3 minute walk away and the closest eatery to the studio. Also take time to visit St Georges lake - about 1km heading towards Melbourne.
  • This is our second time at Debs, and although our visits are very short, it has all we need, bed is very comfortable and my favourite bit are the fantastic towels in the bathroom !! Thanks again Deb. One tiny suggestion, a jug of milk or little carton of milk for tea or coffee would be super in the fridge.

  • What a delightful place to stay in Creswick. Just the right size and space for a couple and yet very private. Another bonus is that you can walk everywhere as its so close to the town centre. We enjoyed our short stay and look forward to repeating the experience in the future.

  • Deb and her husband were on hand to meet and greet, welcome me into their home and offer me plentiful ideas of how best to spend my brief break from the citadel. The puppy and feline were gorgeously friendly and the apartment was ultra comfortable and warm. The decor is intriguing, plush and cozy. I will certainly be heading back if Creswick appears once again on my agenda!

If you need to write, meditate, read or bushwalk this place is perfect. Sheila is great and super helpful and welcoming. I could be assured that I had total privacy and all comforts (blankets and heating) were ready to go. The views from the kitchen and bedroom are worth their weight in gold. Morning meditations were amazing with sun coming fown over the horizon. I loved it so much I extended my stay and booked another 5 days for the following week for more thesis writing.

The house kept us very warm and cosy in a ferocious storm. The kitchen has everything you will need to cook at home. The lounge room and bedroom have stunning views... Sheila has done a magnificent job building this house herself. Highly recommend this as a great place to slow down the pace and unwind.

Great house with retro flair located an easy walk from Creswick village in the beautiful Central Highlands.
Step inside to enjoy a peaceful space that has everything you'll need for a comfortable stay. The house is fairly simple - 3 bedroom with an open plan kitchen, living & dining room. The bathroom offers a bath and shower and the toilet is separate. The 3 bedrooms are set up with a queen, double and king-single size bed and an additional fold up single mattress. The house is split level so there are a few internal stairs. There is plenty of bedding for cold nights, a great gas heater and an extra electric heater for the bedrooms. There's a TV, with a dvd player and internet available.
The Retro Retreat house is located in a quiet area that is central to the township yet still close to walking trails and bushland. Flocks of cockatoos often fly overhead and kangaroos can sometimes be spotted nearby at dusk. There's lots to see and do nearby. In Creswick you can visit the Creswick Woollen Mills, our fabulous French patisserie, Le Peche Gourmand, as well as other great cafes and shops. The Farmers Arms and American Hotels are other great options, and the terrific Bulls Eye Pizzeria. There are lots of great walks nearby as well. Daylesford is 25 minutes drive away, in the other direction Ballarat is only 15 minutes, and Clunes just 20 minutes. There's always a market on somewhere nearby as well, depending on the weekend.
  • This is a wonderful little cottage in the country. We were welcomed with fresh flowers throughout the house and some home made biscuits in the kitchen. This place had everything for our needs, comfy beds (linen included), equip kitchen and a great feel. Amelia was a great communicator and everything went like clockwork. Thanks for a great weekend, we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Ballarat area (who knew it was legally Ballaarat until late 1990's). Highly recommend lake Wendouree, something for each of us.
