Holiday Rentals in Collon

Just booked in Collon

Hatch's Castle has many beautiful features including the Dome Hall, the original spiral staircase, and a wonderfully restored drawing room on the first floor, where you can sit down and relax. We're situated in the lovely town Ardee, which is surrounded by many historic places such as the Jumping Church and Newgrange. There are few restaurants around Ardee and several shops. You can find out more on my Face book page Hatchs Castle.
Walking inside Hatch's castle on the Main Street of Ardee is a feeling of space and tranquility. From that moment you know you have entered a castle that is waiting to be explored. There are four floors, each boasting character and an ambiance of true charm and comfort. Ground floor entrance hall with dome ceiling is also used as a dinning room. The 1st floor has the drawing room with an open fire. Here you can help yourself to a drink, relax, read and unwind. Breakfast can be served here in the large window over looking the Main Street. The 2nd and 3rd floor have a bedroom and private bathroom each. It is possible to see Ardee and its surrounding countryside from the roof. There is a cobble stone yard to sit in and a walled garden to enjoy during the summer months.
Ardee has been a wonderful place to be brought up. Everyone is so friendly and I have to say, I can get everything I need here. Sometimes I realised days have gone by and I never moved the car..! I walk along the old railway and up to the jumping church, great bike rides over the bog, where they cut the turf. Nice tea shops, clothes shop, restaurants and lively Irish pubs. Everyone knows everyone in a simple kind of way.
  • This was the best Airbnb we've ever stayed in. Was way more than I could have imagined and I recommend staying at least two nights, we didn't and totally regret it. There is plenty to explore and see in the town and if you can get there to Check it out early please do. The castle Is incredible, I spent the night going out for an hour and ending up back in the room with my wine glass in a bathtub soaking it up. I hope to stay here again! Highly reccomended

  • We found Nikki very friendly and accommodating. She was a wonderful host. It was an enjoyable experience staying at a castle. We slept well and had a good breakfast in the morning. She said it was continental but there was plenty to eat and all fresh. Her recommendations for where to eat where spot on. Its in a nice little town with many attractions in the area. We would definitely stay here again.

  • It was a great way to finish our vacation. Nikki was a delightful attentative host. The property has been in her family for generations and the care for the old castle is apparent. Only 45 minutes from the airport and 600 years away.

  • Nikki's castle is lovely, we had a really nice time while we stayed there. Everything we could have needed was there.

  • We had a lovely stay in this unique place. Hatch's Castle is just amazing! When we arrived we first could not believe that we are allowed to spend the night in a castle and to explore it. The rooms are clean and very confortable. Nikki is a very friendliy ans thoughtful host! Thank you Nikki! Everyone who looks for an historical experience- this is the Place to be!

  • We had a lovely stay in Hatch's castle! The room was was clean and well appointed with an amazing private bathroom. How often can you say you've stayed in a castle!? We took some time to explore the quaint back patio and climb the winding stairs to the top of the tower. Great views of cute Ardee. It was the perfect place to stay between busy Dublin and Belfast. Breakfast was lovely as well.

    Janie2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Really cool place to stay! So much character. Nikki was awesome, very friendly and helpful, and great with communication. Would recommend.

    Erin2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • The castle was amazing! The room was very comfortable and you felt as though you were in a different time and place. But still with modern amenities. The location is great too, lots of shops and pubs down the street, and the local area near by has a lot to offer. Nikki was a great host and made my stay easy, even when my plans changed due to a cancelled flight. If you get the chance, book a night or two and enjoy!

Quirky new build cedar-wood chalet adjacent to my family home, located in the picturesque Boyne Valley approx 35 miles from Dublin. Close to the monastic site at Monasterboice and the world famous Newgrange monument.
The Rookery is a new build cedarwood building with electric central heating and wood burning stove. It has one double bedroom and a mezzanine with a 4 foot bed and a single bed. As it is in the countryside, you will need transport to get there and for touring the area. There are good restaurants in the area and in the neighbouring town of Drogheda, 8 kilometres away. There are plenty of attractions within easy reach including Monasterboice tower and high crosses, Mellifont Abbey and Newgrange, plus the historical areas around the Boyne valley.
We are situated in the valley of the river Boyne, close to many interesting and historical sites including: Monasterboice round tower and high crosses Newgrange and Bru na Boinne Old Mellifont Abbey Millmount Museum, Drogheda Oldbridge Estate and the Battle of the Boyne Trim Castle We are within easy reach of Dublin (1 hour) and Belfast (1.5 hours), and on the motorway route further afield. Galway is 2.75 hours drive, Kilkenny 2 hours, Cork 3 hours, and Donegal town 3 hours.
  • Lovely little cottage behind the main house. The kitchen is well equipped. We enjoyed the quiet location.

    Tyra2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great accommodation and host. Chris provided plenty of information before our trip which meant we had no problems finding his fantastic home. The house had everything we needed for our stay and was full of quirky design features. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again if we are in the area.

    Kieran2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Rookery turned out to be exactly what we had hoped for - the location is central to so many sights and a great jumping off point for day trips. Chris was a great host. Before our arrival he was very responsive to our questions and his directions were bang on. When we arrived there were little chocolate bars in a jar on the counter, milk in the fridge and tea and coffee there too (two boys on the trip...guess how long they lasted!). The Rookery itself is a gem - very comfortable, everything you need and lots of delightful design elements that you discover over your stay. Chris has put together a binder of resources that cover the Rookery, the sights around, maps. The Rookery also felt very private and secure.

    Jacquie2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • a hole cottage, with everything you need, comfortable beds, comfortable sitting room with total view on the garden, silent, calm, a place to relax and from where to explore the region. As told by Chris you need a car. Chris is very kind and you really fill at home.

    Giovanna 2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Really great, comfortable, home from home. Ideal for two friends as had separate sleeping area each. The property would comfortably sleep 5 though - using 2 double beds. If I return to Drogheda I would be keen to rent the property again. We arrived late and the property was left for us to access and Chris was very welcoming. His document outlining directions to the property was clear and easy to follow.

    Hannah2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great. The Rookery is wonderful decorated and you can really relax there. We haven't meet the host because he was away but his daughter in law came to welcome us. Location is great because it's close to Dublin and not too far from Belfast.

    Ivanka2017-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Rookery provided everything that we could possibly have hoped for for our stay. The purpose built accommodation has its own unique feel in a peaceful rural setting. We were able to visit numerous locations and sites in the space of a week due to location of The Rookery being so close to so many key attractions. Chris was a fantastic host, warm and welcoming on our arrival and very attentive to our additional requests and queries. He instantly made us feel at home which all added to our comfortable home from home experience during our stay. I would highly recommend The Rookery to anyone and would definitely book it again for future trips to this area.

    Doris2016-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend The Rookery, a real home from home, well equipped and decorated, lots of lovely touches including fantastic artwork. Great location for historic sites of the Boyne Valley and within easy drive of both Dublin and Belfast. Chris was a welcoming host, he provided lots of information on local attractions and was quick to respond to emails prior to arrival. We hope to return in the future.

Victoria Drummond Tower was built as a Folly Tower in the victorian period in 1858 by Victor Drummond Delap as part of Monasterboice House & Demesne. The tower is regarded as a folly tower built in remembrance of his late mother Victoria Drummond Delap. Recently restored into a small habitable dwelling and is now available for rental for selected months of the year. A very unique and enjoyable place to stay with a vast range of local & historical amenities at your disposal.
Drummond Tower comprises of 4no. floors including a top roof level which guests can enjoy extensive views of the surrounding countryside. The ground floor comprises of a kitchen area with cooking and washing facilities. On the first floor there is a comfortable living room with adequate space to relax and watch TV or read books form the extensive book collection. The second floor bedroom is the last of the internal floors which comprises of a queen sized bed with en-suite, shower and washing facilities. One of the great advantages is waking up in the mornings and looking out over the tree tops and the immediate countryside. The top floor level is the external castellated roof terrace. There is 360 degree views of the area and space to enjoy the fine weather. The roof terrace is illuminated so one can access the area during at night to look at the stars
Drummond Tower is situated in the countryside on the Boyne Valley Drive - R168. 5 mins from Monasterboice Round Tower & Melifont Abbey. Newgrange, Dowth, Oldbridge (Battle of the Boyne) and Slane / Collon Village is within 15mins drive. Drogheda is located nearby with shopping, Restaurants and Bars. We would recommend Monasterboice Inn (5 mins drive) with selection of fine food & beverages. Also check out "No. Three" in the local Village of Collon which would be approx 3 miles or visit the lovely village of Slane and have a pint on Boyles Pub
  • If you're looking for something different, you just found it. Quaint and quiet, cozy and warm. Amazing views, and a functional setup. Wi-fi was plenty fast and seamless. Just an amazing blend of old and new. Location and Eanan's recommendations for places to visit were also spot on.

    Nicolas2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Unique place to stay! Beautifully restored and taken care of. Check in was easy and communication with Eanan was great. Would've given this place 5 stars but we had trouble with getting a good shower temperature. It was scalding hot even on the lowest temperature setting. Hopefully that will be fixed for future guests. Otherwise, amazing!

    Krysta2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is truly an amazing place!! Eanan has restored and updated the castle beyond belief!! We loved all of the amenities and one night was not long enough to enjoy. We would truly like to return someday. Thank you for the experience.

    Jeannie2017-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful place it was a true dream come true to get the chance to sleep here XD

    Whitney2017-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a special stay. We spent a beautiful, quiet Christmas in the tower. We sure made our friends jealous!

    Caryna2017-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We didn't really meet Eanan but our communication through Airbnb was great. The place is amazing and the experience of staying in a castle is really worth it.

    Guilherme2017-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing place. I can not say enough about it. It has the rustic castle feel with modern fixtures. The kitchen and bathroom was spotless, and the bed and linens were as good as a five star hotel. The views from the roof were breathtaking, make sure you get up there for sunset! It's the most peacefully quiet beautiful space.

    Danielle2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • There are not enough kind words for me to describe this place. Can't believe there is such an authentic place to stay without having to sacrifice any of the niceties someone expects nowadays. Communication was incredibly fast and helpful. Tower was spotless, with very easy check-in/out. Awesome location, middle of nowhere yet close to so many things. Absolutely loved Slane from the locals to the history.

This lovely family room has a beautiful view over the surrounding countryside. You have a walk-in wardrobe , and bathroom next door shared with one other room only. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the large one is super-king size.
Neamh ar Talamh means ' Heaven on Earth'. This house lives up to its name, with heavenly views and peaceful nature surrounding it, despite being 5mins from the M1 motorway and 30mins from Dublin Airport.
The house is tucked away in a completely private property at the end of a cul de sac lane, which has about 40 other respectful, pleasant neighbours living on it. The general area of Rathescar/philipstown boasts having a lovely community of friendly people
  • We had such a nice visit, we came back a few days later! Loved our stay and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

  • Beautiful house, lovely friendly and helpful paula, in a rural country setting. Great for touring irelands ancient east. Children enjoyed the animals. Superb breakfast. Thanks for a wonderful stay.. will be back.

  • Our stay was great:) The room and bathroom were huge! And her family was very sweet:)

    Briana2018-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Paula was a wonderful host, as soon as we arrived she was so welcoming and we felt at home straight away. She has a couple of Labradors, a donkey and 2 horses who are all big cuties and very friendly. We wanted somewhere to stay to relax, explore and go to a family wedding! Paula provided us with a taxi for the wedding, information on all the local and nearby tourist attraction. There is a little dining area which was fantastic the only thing was the fridge maybe needed to be colder as our milk had gone off. The only other minor thing was a few spiders in our room on the ceiling. All in all I would highly recommend Paula and we would love to come back! Her kids are all very friendly and eejits :)

    Saoirse2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Luxurious accomadation. Very COMFORTABLE BED Paula and Family were lovely. Our dog was most welcome. Thanks again.

    Leonard2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely hosts in a beautiful home. So close to everything yet feels so secluded. Wish we'd been able to stay more than one night.

    Skye2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was not as expected with positives and negatives. Positives are Paula is very easy to communicate with and friendly and that breakfast is provided. Negatives are cleanliness. The shared area where breakfast was to be had was unclean and floors were dirty. Our bedroom thenfloors weren't clean with dirt on the carpets. The shared bathroom was dirty. The floors etc were generally dirty. The roof was covered in spiders 5 at one time and the shower had bugaboo in the bottom. This place has potential if just needs a good scrub and that to be kept up!

    Phoebe2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Paula's place was in a great location for our visit to Newgrange on our way up to Belfast. Her house is on a large property with horses and two friendly dogs. The rooms were spacious and we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. We had loads of fun getting to know Paula and her boys. It was the most enjoyable stay we had on our trip. Would definitely stay again and recommend to all our friends!

Welcome to the heart of Louth! On our doorstep is Monasterboice Round Tower & High Crosses. A short drive to Hill of Slane, Drogheda, Mellifont, Castlebellingham, Clogherhead, Beaches, Newgrange, Battle of Boyne, Millmount, Annagassan Viking Village
This is a really lovely cottage, very authentic, warm, cosy and welcoming. The phone reception is not great in this area but is ok outside the building. We have wifi but it is not good because the company is doing work at the moment in the locality
We are in the countryside while having everything on our doorstep. We are very lucky to live in such a wonderful peaceful place. We are close to many good restaurants in Monasterboice, Clogherhead, Annagasson as well as Drogheda. There is often good live music in Drogheda at the weekends.
  • Quaint little cottage, warmly welcomed & lovely area. Definitely recommend for 2

  • We had an awesome stay at Elma's place! We were looking for that Irish-countryside getaway and this was the place. Elma and Barry were very accommodating to our needs for getting to and from the different towns nearby. We would definitely recommend this place to any single person or couple looking to truly relax as there were no TV, Wifi, or other disturbances.

    Theresa and Will2017-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and Nathan had a beautiful stay, Elma and Barry were so warm, welcoming and accommodating. Barry gave us loads of tips about what to see and where to eat, his suggestions were on a hand drawn map they provided which saved us! They informed us that no one was staying there the following day so there was no rush for us to leave which was a god send, we had the most peaceful sleep and really felt like we made the most of our stay. The fact that there's no TV actually adds to the experience and we feel made us closer as a couple! We played cluedo, listened to the record player and drank some wine, heaven!

    Lysa2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Elma, her husband and 3 children were enthusiastic and welcoming, as I was their first Airbnb guest. Unfortunately, my mobile phone service (Meteor) was totally rendered useless in that area and I needed to cut my stay short as a result. Elma was gracious and understanding. The cottage is extremely central to the Boyne Valley and all of the big historic, tourism sites (Newgrange, Slane, Drogheda, Monasterboice, Mellifont Abbey, Battle of the Boyne).

    Maureen2016-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing cottage! Equipped with a little stove, cute couches, a record player, and a kitchen: what more could we have asked for! Elma and Barry were super kind and helpful in every way possible. We miss the place already :)

    Kai2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage in perfect location to explore the area. Elma's family is super nice and they went out of there way to make sure we were comfortable!thanks again.

    Deepti2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • After a busy week on the road it was amazing to unwind in Elma and Barry's guest home on our last night in Ireland. It had everything we needed, including fresh eggs right from their hens. The property is gorgeous, especially the tree lined entrance to the property. We wish we had more time to spend at Elma's and would certainly go back. It is very convenient from the airport. This is the perfect place if you're looking for a quiet getaway and a place to unwind and disconnect. Such a beautiful place with such kind people. Elma and Barry (and their adorable kids) are such wonderful hosts!

    Mary2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Barry and Elma were ace! Really welcoming, funny and warm. We loved the little cottage, the hens and the pigs and the fabulously large gardens and we were made to feel like we could just roam around like we owned the place ourselves. Thanks!

  • We were made so welcome at Arthur and Michelle's home. We had to rearrange our guest numbers at the last minute and they were so accommodating. The electric blankets were a lovely touch as was the breakfast next morning... And the chat was thrown in for free! Would definitely recommend staying here especially if you want to visit Newgrange a UNESCO World Heritage site... Right on the doorstep!! Thank you both Deborah John and family

    Deborah2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Home away from home. Arthur came to find us on road. Both he and Fiona were more like family welcoming us in then hosts. Breakfast was wonderful. Fresh breads. Beautiful room, home, and people. Our favorite stay in Ireland.

    Shelley2016-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Arthur was a great host and allowed us to use his kitchen on our last night in Dublin. He also fixed us a delicious oatmeal breakfast at 7:30AM before we had to go to the airport. Thanks!

    Miranda2017-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at Arthur and Michelle's. As before it felt just like a home from home. A wonderful place to recharge the batteries. I am quite certain we will return again soon.

    Noeleen Tilly2015-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is an ideal location for exploring a multitude of historical Irish sites and easily accessible. Arthur's entire family gave us a warm welcome, provided recommendations for restaurants and sites, and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. It was lovely getting to know them! While there was no wifi, service is good for using data plan.

    Carolyn2016-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle made me very welcome, and had great stories about everything, so much fun. I felt really at home! and enjoyed the Irish country hospitality very much. Arthur's directions were easy to follow, until I went down the road along the canal, not around the corner. Found it soon after. Lovely location for all the historical sites, and walked to the battle of Boyne centre. The room is huge, with lots of bed options, and ensuite bathroom great. Lovely breakfast in the sunroom, at your own time and pace. Would love to stay longer, hope to be back one day.

    Dale2015-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • We regret we only stayed 1 night and Michelle and Arthur were great Hosts and there was far more to see in the local area than we realised. The room was really good, Beds were fantastic (so comfortable), clean and had nice welcome touches like lemon water, Maps and a welcome note. Their recommendation to a local restaurant and offer to make a booking for us was also nice. Tea and scones on arrival was much appreciated as was the breakfast in the morning. Stay 2+ nights is my recommendation. If we visit the area again we will certainly stay again. Thanks Arthur & Michelle.

    Damian2015-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • An exceptional visit, experience, and couple. Arthur and Michelle are terrific hosts and representatives of the Boyne Valley and their country. They and their son AJ and their friendly dog Prince made our stay a very special memory.

  • Wee elected this property because of its proximity to Dowth house, where we were attending a local event. The host and his wife are the worlds friendliest people. We could not fault them on anything. They provided us with an excellent, abundant, laid- back, chatty breakfast, where we felt welcomed and appreciated. They offered to pick us up and drive us to our local event and than helped us plan our day regarding local tourist attractions. We highly reccomend this Wonderful property.

  • We had a fabulous time here. Arthur and his wife were wonderful hosts. We came away feeling we'd made new friends. The house is terrific, room spacious and comfortable. Gardens lovely. It's in a fantastic location situated right between Newgrange and the Boyne River Battle site. Minutes form all the major sites in this area. We particularly liked the nearby town of Slane and the beautiful Boyne River. We're already planning a longer future visit. One of the best places we stayed on our trip. Excellent value!

  • What a delightful experience! Arthur and Michelle are absolutely marvelous. They were patient with our continual lostness and Arthur even stood out on the road to guide us. We enjoyed our evenings with impromptu singing and their wise advise about sites to see around. This family is warm and welcoming. An absolute must for a return visit.

  • A really beautiful spot. Accommodation is very clean, comfortable and cosy. Toilets and showers are right next to the carriage. A lovely, unique place to stay. We attended a wedding in the village (Slane) and location was perfect, a 10 minute walk down the hill. There was an issue with access on our return, so I would definitely highlight the need to confirm your access arrangements when you are checking in. The host was extremely responsive to our feedback and very pleasant to deal with. I would definitely recommend a stay here. Beautiful place.

  • Seriously amazing, it was so nice to get away to Slane. The facilities were fantastic. The cabin was so cute. Not having wifi or electricity in the cabin was so nice as well. Recommend this to anyone! 5/5

  • My stay at the Apple Shepard Hut was unreal. It's perfect for folks looking to disconnect. The hut is the perfect size for one person or two who are willing to share a bed. All the facilities from the kitchen to the hot tub to the bathrooms, which are a small, easy walk away, were in great condition. I would recommend this to anyone looking to disconnect in comfort. Thanks so much for having me. Hope to be back sooner than later!

  • Our stay at Rock Farm was a short one as we were attending a wedding nearby but we loved the beautiful location and facilities in a fabulous setting in the heart of Slane. We stayed in Apple Shepard Hut which was very comfortable and the quietness was amazing. We would loved to have been staying for longer to enjoy the relaxing location more but will definitely be back for a longer stay next time. Would highly recommend Rock Farm to any prospective visitors. Carina and Michelle our hosts were very helpful and accommodating.

    Paul2016-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay in the Shepard's Hut. The Hut itself was cosy, spotlessly clean and nicely decorated inside. The bed was very comfortable and it was so nice to wake up to the view of cows out the window at the foot of the bed! We had our 1.5 yr old with us and I felt we were verywell accommodated in this regard - the travel cot was perfect & he had an amazing nights sleep (as did we)! The surrounding farm and countryside are a delight - I wished we could have stayed longer. I did not use the wood burning hot tub as I wasn't sure how it worked or if we were ok to get the fire going ourselves or not! I didn't read the email properly so also didn't order the 'pizza pack' assuming we could purchase it when we got there but you need to give some notice which is fine. So remember to ask about that in advance! I thought the kitchen facilities were very good with loads of space and utensils. The showers were clean and I loved the addition of products from The Handmade Soap Company - a really nice touch as their products are great. I think the campsite could do with maybe some fairy lights at nighttime as it is very dark going up to the loo, even with the provided torches! I loved our little wood burning stove but our fire went out very quickly (our fault) and although we had lots of firewood there was very little fire starter material so we were unable to start another fire (not my speciality anyway). Had a great stay and will definitely be back! Thanks

  • Great spot to stay while exploring the Boyne Valley. Beautiful setting with cozy little shepherd huts to spend the night and a spaciousness, well-appointed kitchen to prepare your meals, store food, and relax by the fire.

  • Rock Farm is a beautiful location, nestled into the countryside along the river. The grounds are laid out well and cater well to glamping guests. The Sheperd's Hut we stayed in - Apple Hut - was just as advertised: compact but cozy with comfy and sizeable bed. The communal kitchen and lounge at the camp ground is a lovely place to meet others and enjoy your morning brew. Check-in was easy and comms were good.

Nestled in the historic area of the Boyne Valley our beautiful cottage was built in the late 1700's. With extensive gardens, our home is a delightful treasure for visitors to Ireland. We are on the banks of the River Boyne giving access to lovely riverside walks and country rambles. On the historic battle of the Boyne site and close to ancient Newgrange and the town of Drogheda providing all amenities including trains, buses, coaches and shopping.
The cottage offers complete privacy and tranquility in a unique setting. Our kitchen space offers a traditional Irish feel for family dining. Our large bathroom offers a shower, wc and handbasin. The lounge has an open fire and a small bar to allow you to rest and unwind after a busy day.
We are in the middle of the Irish countryside and yet close to all amenities. The main town of Drogheda is just 3 km and can be accessed by car or a lovely riverside walk.
  • This place is a little like something out of s fairytale. The gardens are amazing and the grounds are well kept in a “secret garden” kind of way. The brothers Arthur and Pat were very good hosts...left us with coffee, tea and fresh cream but also brought some yummy Irish soda bread from their local bakery and Kerrygold butter. The chickens were kind enough to lay us some fresh eggs which Pat delivered to us so we could enjoy them in the morning. Sooooo good! Both Pat and Arthur were sheer pleasures to chat with and they suggested where to go for dinner and how to get a taxi. Their place is a little remote which I think is half the joy of it...walk down the driveway and there is a lovely river walk that we enjoyed our morning run on! The beds were so comfy and the blankets kept us warm. This cottage is quite old and as such the heat took a bit to warm the house up...by the second day it was perfect so if you like your place warm, just ask Pat or Arthur to get the heat on about 24 hours before your arrival. Arthur also loaded us up with lots of wood for the fireplace including fire logs to make the lighting easy as pie. We enjoyed a game of scrabble by the fire both nights we were there. Oh and please say hi to Lucy the goose for me ...she likes to greet all the guests with her lovely honk! (She lives with the chickens and encourages them to lay lovely fresh eggs)!

    Daniel2016-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Rock Farm was among the most unique and enjoyable experiences during our visit to Ireland. Located at the top of the working estate, the Swallow's Nest provided a quiet, intimate, cozy space with beautiful view and immersion in nature. With the full moon it was magical. This is a multi faceted farm, growing crops and animals, as well as providing wonderful lodging and glamping. Driving into the farm one is immediately surrounded by pheasants, more beautiful pheasants than you can imagine. The hiking paths down to and along the river Boyne, take one back a century or two. Slane is important culturally and historically, the center of a wide variety of monuments and settings formative to Irish history. In addition to the facility and location, Carina was efficient and very helpful, as were others on the farm. This is an opportunity to experience modern Irish agriculture in a classic estate setting.

  • We were made to feel very welcome from the minute we arrived and the cottage was much bigger than expected. The welcome pack left for us was very generous. Thank you for a fantastic stay.

  • Patricia and Stuart are fabulous hosts and their little garden apartment is a serene and quiet get away. We were in Slane for a wedding at the Mill House and the Mews was a 10 minute walk away.

    Lennon2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful 4 nights at Patricia and Stuart's. Breakfast was delivered each morning with a smile and a chat from Stuart. So friendly and the place had everything you need. Ted and ginge made us feel at home too and my little boy loved the garden.

    Nicola2015-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Pat and Stuart are an absolutely delightful couple and The Garden Mews is perfect. We were made to feel extremely welcome with delicious local bread and smoked salmon on arrival and then Stuart brought in croissants, fruit salad and yoghurt for our breakfast each morning. The bedrooms look out over the private courtyard and the open plan kitchen, dining area and sitting room are above, with french windows that open on to a delightful garden. Everything is spotlesly clean and there are plenty of books and games if you feel like an evening in. We went to The Poet's Rest restaurant for supper, which is just across the road and had a very nice meal and there is also a delicatessen and bakery next door. The tiny wren that sat on a branch and sang to us just outside the open door to the garden was magic though that can't, unfortunately, be guaranteed for every guest! Charming hosts, a wonderful place to say. We really enjoyed our first visit to Ireland and hope to come back soon.

    Gilly/Richard2015-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • You won't regret staying here. Before we arrived, Patricia and Stuart communicated excellently, with good directions and recommendations for what to do in the area. On arrival, they had left us some salmon and brown bread which was perfect after a drive. They even left us the ingredients for a full fry up in the fridge. The house itself is beautiful, perfect for the 4 of us. Spotless, well furnished and nice and warm. All appliances were very modern and the wifi was fast. The gardens are also beautiful and nice for a little walk around with a cup of tea! It is located in the heart of Slane Village. Very close to Boyle's Pub, which does a great pint of Guinness. The restaurant 'Inside Out' is directly across the road, and the food here is exceptional. As you can imagine, I would strongly recommend this Airbnb and I will definitely be back. It's worth every penny!

    Rob2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • After traveling by rental car throughout Ireland for nearly seven days, we ended our trip with a stay at The Garden Mews. What a wonderful decision! Patricia and Stu and greeted us with smiles and delicious treats (smoked salmon and brown bread), and promptly helped us become acquainted with the accommodations. The refrigerator was stocked with snacks, fresh eggs and meat, juice, milk, and the makings for morning coffee. Each morning Stu delivered a continental breakfast of fruit and jam, pastries, and juice. The beds were soft and comfortable. Since the weather was chilly during our stay in Ireland, we were so happy to have a heat system inside the house! There were many books to read and a relaxing flower garden in the back for a peaceful walk. The accommodations were set back from the road, allowing for a nice, quiet, restful sleep. Patricia and Stu are very gracious and welcoming hosts, ready to help with directions, tourist information, and good conversation. The Garden Mews is located roughly 45 minutes from the airport and an easy drive into Dublin for a day visit. It is also located very close to interesting sites such as New Grange, Knowth, Monasterboice, Drogheda, and Slane Castle. I highly recommend The Garden Mews and hope to return there again someday soon!

  • Lovely little cottage with everything you could need. Fresh breakfast delivered each morning was wonderful.

    Alex2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with the Brands was really great. We had been misinformed by someone else about how long our sightseeing would take elsewhere, and were unable to get technology to work for us to get a message through about arriving late. Patricia and Stuart were very patient and greeted us cheerfully when we finally arrived. The welcome package and breakfast were a great touch, and the suggestion to visit the Poet's Rest was an excellent one. I very much recommend this location for its proximity to many fun attractions in Ireland. I wish we had planned for a longer stay in Slane, but it's a great reason to come back to Ireland!
