This is a lovely little town with a quaint town square that has a lot of historic buildings that date right back. We are also not far from Strangford Lough and Rough Island otherwise known as Island Hill (about 1.5 miles by car). Our house is within the Comber limits but is nestled in farm land with views over rolling hills towards Scrabo Tower to the back and a large Garden to the front and side. Comber was the home town of Thomas Andrews who designed the Titanic and their home is still standing today. is family had been prominent in Comber for generations, establishing various commercial enterprises in the town including a linen mill. Thomas's parents were Thomas Andrews Snr and Eliza Pirrie, who was the sister of Lord Pirrie, the future chairman of the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. His eldest brother, John Miller Andrews, went on to become Prime Minister of Northern Ireland while his younger brother, James, became Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland. When Thomas inspected the damage to the ship that fateful night he advised captain Philips that the ship was doomed. In the sure knowledge that the fate of Titanic had been sealed, his actions were said by many survivors to be nothing short of heroic. He spent the final moments of his life encouraging passengers to get to the lifeboats. The following cablegram, dispatched by the White Star Line from its New York office, described what he did: "After accident, Andrews ascertained damage, advised passengers put heavy clothing, prepare leave vessel. Many sceptical about seriousness damage, but impressed by Andrews' knowledge, personality, followed his advice, saved their lives. He assisted many women, children to lifeboats. When last seen, officers say was throwing overboard deck chairs, other objects, to people in water. His chief concern safety of everyone but himself." In Comber, the life of Thomas Andrews Junior is commemorated by the Memorial Hall, built by public subscription and opened in 1915. Andrews' body was never recovered from the Atlantic, but he is remembered on the family grave with the words: "Pure, just, generous, affectionate and heroic. He gave his life that others might be saved. Hopefully you may consider coming to stay in our home which is described by many as a Retreat or Haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
  • Claire is such a sweet and caring host. I was traveling alone and stayed for 5 days. Whenever it was possible for her, she gave me rides to town or the bus stop. She also offered great advice for getting around the area and what to see. She and her husband, Johnny, are both very kind and easy to chat with. For breakfast, there were cereals + milk, muesli, toast, and homemade jam as well as a selection of teas, and there is even a private dining area for guests. The room was immaculate and so was the bathroom. Great stay and highly recommend.

  • slightly outside centre of comber a few minutes drive down a country lane (walkable (approx 1 1/2 miles) - not all paths) accommodation of a good standard, good value for money, no complaints, would recommend

  • Claire's home is excellent, as their owners. The house is very big, located in the countryside, well accessible by car. We have had all we needed, and Claire was always ready to help us. If we come back to Belfast, we will stay here again.

  • The house, views, location were perfect, it was very peaceful. The bedroom and bathroom were lovely. Claire and Johnny were very welcoming and friendly. Not to mention the cat. Great breakfast and hospitality. Lots to do in the area. Two very good bistros in the village. Right in the heart of the old TT road circuit, which was what we went to see. Belfast, Bangor and the Ard's peninsular all close by. Great drives and castles everywhere. Two days was not long enough. We would defiantly stay with Claire again.

  • I've been wanting to visit Northern Ireland since I found out my lineage from my DNA results. Jonny and Claire's absolutely lovely home was so welcoming, I didn't feel the rush of a inner city hotel. I felt right at home. Yes Airbnb is available nowadays to assist in travelers' needs (convenience, value, location), but with such gracious hosts, the experience was more than I could have imagined. I felt right at home. The view from the spacious bedroom was spectacular, the private toilet was very handy. The Wi-Fi was stellar, and Claire even whipped up a spot of breakfast complete with potato bread! Jonny and I had a great jam session. A very charming, seasoned piano compliments the home. I've stayed a few Airbnb locations now and have never been treated so well. With the kind hosts and their smashing home, I plan to stay again when in Comber, or when passing through Northern Ireland. Thanks again!

  • Apartment ideal for what we needed. Very clean and comfortable with two bathrooms. Situated in lovely courtyard with an excellent cafe and deli. Comber is a very pleasant town with good shops close by. David welcomed us on arrival and gave us much information on the locality. Unfortunately we had to make some last minute alterations to plans and would like to thank David for being very accommodating.

  • My family and me, we had a really good time in Belfast. At the beginning, I was a bit worry since Comber is a bit outside of Belfast. However, at the end it turned out that it's a great town to stay. The apartment is great. It has everything you need and it was very clean. We meet David once we arrived and he explaind us everything we needed to know. He also provided a really handy documentation including really usefull information. I can recommend the apartment for every family or even for four friends they want to visit Belfast.

    Katrin2016-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful flat and location, spacious and airy, beds comfortable. Fully equipped kitchen though we ate out every night, amazing Irish food! Easy 20 minute drive to Belfast and great base to tour regional areas. No real wifi which didn't worry us but may affect others.

  • David waited for us, but our arrival was delayed. He setup an alternate person to let us in and came back later that night to explain how all the things worked in the apartment. He also left some breakfast food in the refrigerator for us. The apartment was clean and spacious for my wife, adult daughter and me.

    Gary2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • David was very welcoming. We were grateful for milk, butter and jam in the fridge to start us off. The apartment was spacious and great value for money. The sofas were comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and the bathrooms modern and clean.

  • I hesitate to say it, because I'm sure people will think i'm exaggerating, but the cottage was perfect! The communication and check in with Ivan was a total breeze, I didn't know exactly what time I was going to arrive, due to other commitments in the day, Ivan was very flexible in working with me to make my check in seamless. The cottage has everything you need to have a home away from home. It's situated out towards Comber, which was perfect for me as I was in Norn Iron to visit friends in Dundonald which is less than a ten minute drive away. the only thing I would say is you really need to have a car, which I did, and that makes coming and going so much easier. I loved my time in the cottage and would definitely look Ivan up and see if its available on my next visit!

    James2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is really lovely and stylish, and an excellent base for visiting locally or heading in to town to explore Belfast. I found the cottage very well equipped and comfortable and Ivan a friendly and flexible host.

Jenny was a wonderful host, her family were friendly and welcoming, especially Dillon the irish wolfhound and Irma the cat! The design and decor of the Loft was tastefully in keeping with the nature of the surroundings. The huge bed was so comfortable and the shower was first class. Wonderful locally sourced and homemade provisions were a welcoming touch too. Will definitely be back.

We were blown away by the standard of the finish, and some surprising elements like the projector, AppleTV, and private enclosed decked area with stunning views of a beautiful wheat/barley field. The house is beautifully finished, and state of the art with built in speaker system throughout the house for playing music from your phone and remote controlled electronic blinds. Hillary was so lovely and friendly but also just lets you get on with it after assuring you she is there if you need anything. Highly recommend, will definitely be back!

  • We stayed here for 2 nights in early September, correspondence with Hilary was excellent from the beginning, she was more than helpful and was available if needed. The Barn is located in beautiful rural countryside about 25 mins from Belfast , and about 2 km from the local village which has an excellent gastric pub , The Barn is very spacious and has been restored to a very high standard, it has everything you may require for your stay.I would have no hesitation in recommending this property and hope to return some day .

  • I've stayed in this place for 3 nights and it was really great! The room is really cosy with a soft bed and everything else you'd need. Bathroom is very clean, good water pressure and soft towels. The hosts Pam and Andy are really nice as well and always happy to help you out and every morning Andy set up the table for breakfast which was great! I've really enjoyed my stay there and would definitely go back if I return to Belfast.

  • Our stay with Harry and Ruth was wonderful. When we arrived, Ruth sat down with us and spent some time getting to know us and making us feel comfortable in their home. Our stay was great in a large bedroom (the Pink Room), with a spacious bathroom. We also had access to a breakfast room along with a TV room. She provided a range of hot beverages and toast and jam for breakfast. She and her husband Harry, were eager to give us advice on side trips and they were very helpful in helping us locate appropriate facilities when some medical issues arose. They are charming hosts who made us feel welcome as guests and not just as customers. We'd recommend them to other travelers without hesitation.

  • AMAZING Host!!! And beautiful cottage!! Definitely recommend staying here! The location was great for us because we wanted to see Belfast but also wanted to relax and only a 15minute journey from town via taxi. Beautiful views of the countryside too! Its around £30 in a taxi and 30mins from Belfast International Airport! Martina the host was extremely accommodating and more than happy to help us with anything we needed. She also had the best craic (banter)! The whole experience was very memorable and this is the place we will always be staying when visiting Belfast! The garden is amazing for summer drinks or breakfast in the sun! We genuinely couldn't have asked for a better host or accommodation!

Martina greets you and lives next door so is handy for any need. She provides loads of information and recommendations! It was a lovely stay!!

  • What a fantastic place! The best Airbnb I have stayed in - the cottage is beautiful, Martina is truly lovely and we all loved our stay. Before I came I asked about a cafetière - not only was there one there, but coffee for it was supplied which was lovely. The bathrooms have good quality shampoo, soap, conditioner and body cream - a really nice touch. All 4 of us slept really well (2 adults and 2 children) both nights in the super comfortable beds, there were cereals, milk, scones with butter and jam for us - honestly, you literally couldn't ask for more. Will definitely be back - thank you Martina :-)

    Sonia2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Martina and her husband were very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Home made scones in the kitchen, which we all enjoyed. It was an ideal location for us to attend an elderly relatives birthday celebrations. Wi Fi available, which was very helpful. Good parking space available in front of the cottage. Excellent and prompt communications from host. Plenty of room and well thought out renovation. Thank you. No hesitation in recommending.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Richard's place. It was clean, quite spacious and comfortable. Richard came and introduced himself and brought some bread and milk, which was lovely. We found it a good base for our holiday as we spent some time in Belfast and driving through Northern Ireland. We have no complaints.

    Kate2015-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved my brief stay at Richard's. He was so helpful and the flat is so private with its beautiful patio overlooking the garden, and he was so discreet but I felt he was also close if I needed anything, which is reassuring for a woman travelling alone. The flat is super-clean and so warm and comfortable, I loved the big bed, and naturally I treated myself to a daily jacuzzi. I had a really comfortable stay and will definitely be hoping its available in a couple of months when I'm over again!

Situated in the Castlereagh hills on the edge of open countryside, my home is close to the bus route for the city centre and local airports too. This is an ideal spot for couples, solo travellers and for those looking for a quiet relaxing location reasonably close to local attractions; and a good base for exploring the city and taking day trips. There are local food and coffee shops close by, and within a 10 minute drive there are a number of first class restaurants and cafes too. Guests are welcome to cook in the kitchen, and coffee, juice and snacks will be provided. I am vegetarian and am happy to cook, or provide packed lunches, light meals on request. Freshly laid free-range organic eggs are available daily too! There are 3 backyard chickens and 2 very friendly cats, herb and vegetables patches and a grassy area, plus patio seating outside too.
Parking is available in the driveway if needed. There is a bus stop just a 5 minute walk away, and there are local shops, cafes, restaurants, and many evening entertainment options available locally too.
  • Would highly recommend Sharron to anyone traveling around this area. We was made to feel very welcome, the house was lovely and we felt at home straight away. We was welcome with a lovely breakfast and hot drinks each morning, it was a pleasure to meet Sharron, her cats and her hens on our stay. We would definitely stay here again :)

  • A really wonderful place to stay. The room was immaculate and the bed comfortable and welcoming after a long travel. The spotless bathroom is right there with a great shower. The rest of the house is very warm and inviting and two soft fluffy kitties complete the household. It is also in a very quiet and safe neighborhood and easy to get to. Sharon, who is one of the nicest people you could meet, provides a breakfast with eggs from her own happy hens , and other fresh delights. Hardly anything seems too much to ask, and she has a wealth of information on anything from local events around Belfast to things further afield around the country. You can definitely consider yourself blessed if you stay here. Thanks Sharon for the amazing way you welcomed us and helped make our visit so enjoyable.

  • Sharon`s place is only a few minutes outside the city center in a very safe and quiet neighborhood. We couldnt hear any noise at night time, hence we had great sleeps. The first day Sharon dropped us off in the center, so we didn't have to drive, as we were going to a concert. That was a very nice and unexpected thing to do. All in all we totally enjoyed our time in Belfast and Sharon`s. We will be back and am looking forward to more scrambled eggs from Sharon`s own organic chicken.

Self contained apartment within the hosts bungalow, outskirts of Belfast stunning views secure parking 2 ensuite bedrooms dining area and sitting room with fast wifi and TV. Galley kitchen with modest cooking facilities Tourist Board Certified
We warmly welcome you our home in the village of Gilnahirk. We can trace our family roots to this place for nearly 250 years and while the city of Belfast has spread itself around Gilnahirk its still retains its own character and has the feel and benefits of a village. We have lived in this particular house for over 15 years but have visited the house for over 50 years. The views we think are stunning and we are privileged to be the current custodians of the property. Now that our family has fledged the nest we have converted the upper floors along with the downstairs entrance and kitchen into a self-contained self-catered apartment. This gives a private space with the benefits of the hosts being near at hand for queries and information. We hope you enjoy your stay at Piney Ridge.
Entertainment - We are close to a number of tourist attractions from the Titanic Quarter and the much visited Titanic Building, a nice walk away from the Parliament Buildings at Stormont with lots of lovely walks, close to the Comber Greenway another great walking route. Ballyhackamore is an up and coming entertainment centre with numerous restaurants and coffee shops – closer than that we have the Poets bar and restaurant in Cherryvalley 500 metres walk down the hill and the Cineplex centre at Dundonald with 4 screens and a 5 restaurants from American Diner and BBQ through Asian Fusion and Indian cuisine. Just ask and we will give recommendations. We have a nice garden which you can enjoy, the sun room attached to the office/store is a lovely place to read the papers or have a snooze. We also have a treadmill and exercise bike for those looking to keep up an exercise regime. We have lovely walks up the Rocky Road and we are within 750 metres of the Castlereagh Hills Golf Course which is a public facility operated by the Council and very much welcoming visitors. It also has a restaurant. Also at the top of the Rocky Road is the Hillmount Garden centre great for shopping (it’s not all flowers and plants – its Christmas displays are legendary) and it has a great restaurant – again leaflets available in the lounge.
  • David & Joy are lovely hosts, very warm and welcoming. The accommodation is excellent, a private apt with plenty of space and facilities, Joy even showed us lots of board games. Great selection of food left out for breakfast, inc a lovely variety of breads & homemade jams. Full kitchen facilities and even some homebaking for us on arrival. It is about 15min from Belfast city by car and easy to find. Great to have free secure parking. I would highly recommend staying at Piney Ridge if you are happy to be a little outside Belfast city centre. thanks David and Joy for your fantastic hospitality

  • It was a very nice stay at Piney Ridge. The hospitality from David and Joy was warm, welcoming and very helpful. The view is extraordinary and everything you need is there, especially lots of space and privacy. We washed our clothes and they have a great room to dry them. A great place to stay and visit Belfast and Northern Ireland.

  • In very strained personal circumstances David and Joy were an absolute wonder, more accommodating and welcoming than we could ever have hoped for. The accommodation was spacious, bright and spotless but most importantly for us a peaceful retreat in a perfectly quiet area as well as being incredibly close to where we needed to be. The beds were wonderfully comfortable and the breakfast provisions Joy left out for us were very welcome. We were really fortunate to find not only such fabulous accommodation but also such wonderful sympathetic hosts at the last minute.

  • David and Joy were fantastic hosts. They went well above our expectations to ensure that we had a everything we needed for a great stay, including advice on the sites to see in Belfast and Northern Ireland. They made sure to check-in with us, to make sure that we were happy with are stay and answered all of our questions, which were many. When we decided that we needed one additional night, they were more than accommodating, making the process very simple and reasonable. The unit itself was lovely, with three comfortable beds in two rooms, and an office that it perfect for a little evening reading or work. The place also comes equipped with a kitchen that serves all of purposes that you should need in any airbnb stay. They even provided some tasty little desserts and bread to make our stay even better. ] The only downfall, was not the fault of the hosts, but rather the taxi drivers. The house is located in a suburb of Belfast, so we used taxis to get to town and back. This was fine most of the time, but apparently there is another place in the vicinity with the same address. Make sure that you include the postal code in your instructions to the taxi drivers. Also, I highly recommend FonaCab over ValueCab. The FonaCab drivers were able to follow our instructions to find the house, whereas ValueCab drivers went to the wrong locations on multiple occasions, which was a major inconvenience. Aside from the mishaps by ValueCab, this place was great! Amazing hosts, in a lovely tranquil setting, close to the wonderful area of Belfast and Northern Ireland. Five Stars for sure!

  • Joy and David's mad us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, dropping everything to help us drop off a rental car. It was certain,y above and beyond the call of duty and we thank them immensely for saving us an expensive taxi ride. The unit is perfect and comfortable and we wish we could have stayed longer. It is a excellent location to explore Belfast and we will return we hope in the not too distant future

  • Such a nice place with superb facilities, much better than discribed. One could see the care and love poured into the facility which is very private without being isolated. There is a nice little pub doing food within 2 min walk which is convienent. Donna was just a lovely warm friendly person who welcomed us kindly with fresh tea/coffee and while available for any support we needed didn't intrude on our stay. We would both love to return again as you could really relax in total comfort here.

  • What a gem of a place to stay! In a totally self contained studio of a generous size with high ceiling and with shabby chic decor. Kitchen facilities great, shower excellent, comfy bed - positioned to see the sun rise and in a beautiful countryside location. Donna was a welcoming host who was great fun and knows a lot about the area so can point you in the right direction! This part of Northern Ireland has so much on offer - we only wished we had booked a longer stay - but we shall next time!

  • Ruth is an absolutely fantastic host and I cannot thank her enough for the service that she provided throughout.

    Sean2017-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth is so nice, I didn't think she will take care of me as she did. It was a great surprise. The house is not really close to the centre bus there is a bus station at 30s walk from the house. It is not really frequent (2 per hour) but very useful. There is another bus down the street in case.

  • Ruth is such an amazing host! I arrived in Belfast late at night and was too hungry. Ruth generously offered her own food and even drove me to the nearby Chinese takeaway. Even such an accommodating and hospitable gesture to provide breakfast and letting you feel at home. Ask her about the transport and scenic places and she'll be able to tell you that. I enjoyed my stay and will definitely be back! Thanks Ruth! :)

The views across Belfast are amazing. It's been recently redecorated with a new kitchen and all new appliances. Located within walking distance of Stormont Parliament & Ulster Hospital. Free parking & it's on a main bus route into the city centre.
This is a two double bedroomed flat on the 13th floor of a 14 floor building. There is an elevator. One bedroom has a double bed and the other bedroom has two single beds. Both bedrooms have ample wardrobe space. We can provide accommodation for up to 4 guests. We have just completed redecoration with new carpets, new kitchen, new appliances and new beds. All beds are made up with freshly laundered mattress & pillow protectors for each new guests. There is everything you should need to be able to stay in comfort and easily prepare food. We are certified by Northern Ireland Tourism to allow this property to be used for short term accommodation (it is a legal obligation to have an official inspection and be approved before short term rental is allowed) We hope that we have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We are always happy to hear if there is something we may have missed, so please let us know.
We are 4 miles from the city centre. The closest village is Ballyhackamore, where you will find many restaurants & cafes for both daytime & nighttime dining. There is a very funky cafe just down the road called General Merchants. It is open 7 days and most nights. There is an Asda supermarket & a 24 hour McDonalds about a mile along the Uppernewtownards Road, at Dundonald (just by the Ulster Hospital) Ye Olde Elk Inn is a traditional pub within 10 minutes walk, providing food. We have close acces to the The Comber Greenway, which is an old railway line now used for walking and cycling through areas of Belfast. We aim to provide a folder with local information for guests.
  • Thank you Simon for sharing your beautiful flat with us. We had a great stay and your place was just perfect. Location is great and easy to get a bus anywhere. Thank you!

    Kerry2016-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at this flat. My two young girls liked their bedroom, and we enjoyed the views. There is a bus stop right outside the door almost and we also liked the pub down the street. We had a car with us and parking was easy (confirm directions with Simon beforehand because we got a little confused upon arrival). This is not in the heart of Belfast and you need to be prepared to either drive or take a 20 minute bus ride into town to get around. Taxis also seem to be easy and affordable in Belfast. Traveling with kids, it was nice to have a bigger place and we really appreciated the small food items (fruit, milk. etc.) that Simon left for us.

Hello I would love to welcome you to my home which I share with my two friendly and ridiculously cute dogs. I have two spare double rooms and plenty of living space. I have a lovely garden and washing machine available.bus stop to city centre at door
My home although very convienent to Belfast city centre with the bus stop from city centre just outside the door feels as though it is in the country. I am family and pet friendly. 10 mins drive from Belfast city airport and 30 minutes drive from the international airport. I may also be able to collect you from airports depending on times for a small fee.
  • I would totally recommend this place. Lois is so friendly and was very flexible with Check in. The house is not far from city centre and a few busses go there. The bus stop is a 2 min walk. The room was very comfortable and bathroom and kitchen were clean! The dogs are amazing. We had a great time and would definitly come back again!

    Antonia2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lois is a lovely host. I have two dogs and felt very welcome. The thing was the house stank of dog pee. And my dog that never pees made a beeline twice to urinate. Which showed me that there was old dog pee. We also had expected two beds and it was just one. Lois did accommodate us which was very kind. Also it is not in a country setting as I thought. She wasn't home until late the first night and promised to make us breakfast but she worked so couldn't follow through with that. We both believe her extra room would be better used as a roommate situation.

    Janine2016-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lois was really nice, she trusted us as she was at work when we arrived. Her two dogs are cute and sweet, her house is clean and comfy ! The place is not too far from city center, but you have to take the bus. I recommend it !

    Clara2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lois is a lovely, helpful host with friendly dogs and her is very close to bus route.

    kathy2017-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lois was very nice and hospitable. Her home was close to the bus stop that takes you to the city centre. It's about a 30 minute bus ride. She does have two dogs that stay at the home. I'm not sure if I would stay here again because of her white dog. Unfortunately the dog gets into belongings easily and chews up things. I also woke up often from the dog barking in the middle of the night and early morning.

    Sadie2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • The bus stop is just a 2 minute walk & you can get an all day bus pass for just £3 on weekends. Louis seems lovely although we didn't get thr pleasure of meeting her ourselves

    Tinah2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • The host canceled this reservation 2 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

    Giulia2017-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lois is the epitome of the friendly Irish character. She is an extremely nice and welcoming person and a great host. Even though we arrived at a very late time at night she greeted us with smiles and snacks. After we told her what our sort of plan was, she even made a custom itinerary with great recommendations for us. We actually followed it and fell in love with Northern Ireland. Lois’ house is very close to Belfast’s city airport and only a cheap Uber ride away from the city centre. Her house is cozy and the beds are comfy, and she has the most beautiful and friendly dogs. My friends and I had a lovely time staying at her house and would highly recommend booking with her.

Set on the shores of Strangford Lough with picturesque views overlooking the drumlins of County Down, Ballyminstra Shepherds Hut is the ideal opportunity to get away from modern life and get back to basics. The Shepherd’s Hut is a truly secluded glamping hideaway lovingly designed to comfortably accommodate 2 people for a real escape to the country retreat. Situated on our family farm expect to see the flock during your stay.
The country chic styling of the hut is a delight, designed to ensure you enjoy your time in the countryside and have a comfortable stay. The hut has a kitchenette, a small breakfast bar and chairs by the window, and there is plenty of storage for clothes under the bed. There are two fireside chairs and a log burning stove inside to make tea and coffee and ensures the hut is cosy all year round. When night falls and the stars start to pop out, torches provide all the light that you need. You can cook up a storm on the fire pit outside and stay warm as you star gaze at the countryside night skies, toasting marshmallows. You’ll sleep soundly in the comfy double bed inside the hut, and awake to the sound of the birds singing and animals in the neighbouring fields! There is running water which can be heated the old fashioned way, on top of the stove. Electricity is limited with enough to power the lights and charge a mobile, entertainment can be sought from the Robert's radio or a competitive boardgame. A breakfast hamper is available on request. A wash bowl is provided for bathing and there is a toilet on site. Why not bring your bikes.
We are less than 5 min drive from the sea. There is an array of local eateries offering high quality food including, Balloo House, The Poachers Pocket, The School House, The Old Post Office and Daft Eddies on Sketrick Island.
  • Peaceful, cozy and homely. Perfect escape and we didn't want to leave. Can't wait to return.

  • We had a fantastic stay in the shepherds hut! It was very memorable in all the right ways. Kelly has paid a lot of attention to detail & this has definitely paid off! Bed was warm & very comfortable. Loved the wood burner. Just sitting in a comfortable chair by the fire, listening to the radio & looking out at the stars - the perfect escape.

    Christine2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a jewel in the crown of AirBnB! We are so pleased we found Kelly's Shepherds Hut for our last night in Northern Ireland, it was definitely the quiet, relaxing location we needed after a busy few days. The photographs do not do it justice, it is a beautifully made and furnished hut with everything you could need, including lovely touches such as a breakfast and snack hamper. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Thanks for a lovely stay.

    Claire2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Ballyminstra Shepherd's Hut is a wonderfully unique place to stay in a beautiful part of Northern Ireland. We stayed here for a night, but wish it was longer. If you are looking for somewhere to get away from the rat-race, go off-grid for a while and get back to nature, this is the place for you. The Hut has everything you could need for a comfortable stay, is completely new and beautifully decorated. There is no hot water, it can be heated on the internal stove and the toilet is a portaloo, so if those things would bother you, it's not the place for you. For us, it made it all part of the experience and we will hopefully stay here again one day! The welcome package was also a really lovely touch, thanks Kelly :)

    Alison2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn't say enough good things about this place. Total retreat and everything you would need for a wonderful night in a beautiful setting. Kelly is fantastic and lovely to deal with and has thought of all the little things that make it an extra special place to stay! Great base for seeing Belfast, Strangford Lough and Castle Ward (Winterfell for the Game of Thrones fans) with some lovely places to eat really close by

    therese2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Shepherd's Hut is such a treat, set in rolling fields surrounded by rabbits! The Hut itself is fantastic, and so well kitted out by Kelly - she has thought of everything practical you might need for cooking on the wood burning stove, gas camping stove or fire pit. The personal homely touches and decor are so thoughtful and help the Hut to feel like home with books, radio and soft furnishings galore. The Shepherd's Hut is very private, set back in the field from the farm, but very easy to find - we were on a cycling trip and really enjoyed Kelly's recommendations of where to visit nearby, you can easily access great food and craic in Killyleagh, Downpatrick or Comber by bike or car. I would highly recommend a visit to unwind, listen to the radio and stargaze!

    Catherine2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Such a treat. Great for a quiet getaway without having to travel too far. Kelly has thought of every little detail and great at keeping in touch and answering any questions. Couldn't recommend any more!

    Lauren2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a great find - quite, peaceful & secluded. The Hut was perfect ,& Kelly had thought of everything you need to have a night away from it all,( in our case when thrown out of our house for a 21st Birthday Party !) The Firepit cooked are dinner to perfection & the bed gave us a great nights sleep. Will definitely be making a return visit, thanks Kelly.

  • You can't miss this cute, clean and quiet bnb. The hosts are friendly. We really enjoy talking to them and they also recommended great restaurants choices which is not far from their house. They provide breakfast and warm tea which really warm us in this weather.

  • This was our favorite place that we've stayed during our time traveling Europe. Martin and Linda were welcoming, helpful, and kind to us from the time we arrived to the time we left. The rooms were comfortable and furnished with everything we could need. The bathroom was stocked with necessities and with plenty of space. We always enjoyed breakfast at their place, looking out the window and sipping delicious coffee! However nothing could compare to our wonderful hosts. Thank you!

    Tori2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed into Marty and Linda's home. We were in Belfast for a work event and felt that they were very flexible with our comings and goings and we really felt utterly comfortable and settled at the Cookehouse. Marty made the most incredible Ulster Fry breakfasts for us including possibly the best poached egg I've ever eaten in my life! We also had homemade wheaten bread by Linda and were offered lots of local, Irish specialities which made it even more special. The room was beautiful and the house itself is stunning but very inviting. A restful and peaceful nights sleep with everything you need provided for you in the room (even a hairdryer!). The bathroom at Marty and Linda's house is clean, bright and warm with a really good shower and we appreciated the little touches of flannels and spare toiletries on the side. Nothing was too much trouble and they went to every effort to accommodate us (even the water in our rooms was chilled when we arrived!) All this is lovely but the real highlight is Marty and Linda themselves. They are brilliant hosts, warm, welcoming and really great to talk to. Marty is an artist and was kind enough to show us some of his paintings and talked to us about some of the local history - we just loved talking to him and conversation never felt hard work.

  • The apartment was fantastic, really clean, spacious, with modern decoration and in a good location. With gated parking it was perfect, and with a bus straight into town and Stormont across the road it was excellent, Stephen recommended Ballyhackamore down the road which was a really nice part of town. Stephen himself met us and chatted with us for 20 minutes about the place, which we really appreciated. He was always on hand and gave us a tonne of information and personal suggestions about things to do and places to eat which was fantastic. I'd stay in Stephen's in a heartbeat and would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for somewhere in the suburbs of Belfast!

  • Stephens apartment is exactly as advertised, for me at least it was practically perfect in every way, I was over visiting friends and work colleagues, and as I was there for just under two weeks, I needed all the creature comforts you get at home, so this was perfect. Location wise it was excellent for me being in East Belfast, right near Stormont and just down the road from where I often needed to be in Dundonald. As a host Stephen was excellent in communication and checking in and out, very helpful and flexible in fitting in with my requirements too. As I'm a frequent visitor to Belfast he didn't need to give me any tips for the local area, but he is very friendly and helpful, and offered me any assistance whilst I was there. I would not hesitate to book with Stephen again for my next trip if his apartment is available.

  • Very nice apartment in a quiet area. Direct bus Line to the city center (or £8 taxi) made the commute easy. Thx to Miao and Stephen for being so helpful and flexible with our checking time

We live in leafy Stormont, close to cafes, restaurants and bars and facing Stormont Estate, home to the iconic parliament building and acres of woodland and gardens. Our newly refurbished guest room overlooks the garden;guests can also use the sun room with tv. We are right on the bus route to Belfast city centre and out towards the scenic Ards Peninsula. Guests from all walks of life are made very welcome in our busy family home with our two sons, two (low profile) cats and small, friendly dog.
Our home is somewhat unique in appearance and goes by various names, including the 'Toblerone', 'pointy' and 'triangle' house. It is owing to its Swiss chalet or lodge resemblance and view of Stormont Estate that it got its name. The property is open, bright and spacious so there is plenty of room for everyone, including our pets. So if you are not a huge fan of pets, you are not forced to see them too much. We have a huge garden and decking area and patio table which the guests are welcome to use. We are also very lucky to have a parade of shops one minute's walk from our house, which includes a good, local grocery store, fish and chip shop, barber's and physiotherapy and sports injury clinic.
We feel very priviliged to live in a city and also be surrounded by greenery. We directly face and are several minutes' walk away from stunning Stormont Estate. The estate is home to the country's parliament buildings - an architectually outstanding, iconic landmark that can be seen from all over the city and beyond. The surrounding estate is beautiful, with over 400 acres of woodland and ornamental gardens, featuring walking and fitness trails and a popular children's playpark which families flock to from all over Belfast and further afield. We are just a few miles out of buzzing Belfast city centre and a mere mile away from the thriving village of Ballyhackamore (or 'Ballysnackamore' as it is known locally) which is brimming with cafes and restaurants - including chains such as Pizza Express and Caffe Nero, as well as renowned local establishments, and bars. East Belfast, where we live, is undergoing a real cultural revivival. Titanic Quarter, the world class visitor attraction and monument to the city's shipbuilding heritage is just five miles away and we celebrate such legends as Van Morrison, Narnia author CS Lewis and George Best who were born here. Earthy tradition works well alongside the more modern cafe culture to produce an exciting new vibe. In the other direction is the village of Dundonald which has an Asda supermarket and various local shops, bars and restaurants. Beyond that is the bustling market town of Newtownards and further on, the picture postcard Ards Peninsula which affords splendid views right across to the famous Mourne Mountains.
