“A really special park built and maintained by the community and it is maintained to perfection. A 15 minute drive from Athlone, this is well worth a visit especially if you are travelling with children, there are loads of interesting things for children to do at this park, and there is a coffee shop on site. ”

“Join Pat Sweeney on a guided walk along the sea cliffs from Doolin to the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre, for a unique experience of the breathtaking rural beauty of this part of the World. This spectacular walk, led by one of these local farmers is a must if you are visiting the west coast of Ireland along The Wild Atlantic Way. Pat is a local historian and walking enthusiast, an expert on local history and folklore and is passionate about the preservation of a rural lifestyle enjoyed by five generations of his family who have farmed in this area. ”

“Mulranny Beach (Blue Flag) Drive: 40 minutes Pros: You can drive to and park there directly, but we prefer to park at Mulranny Park Hotel, cross the road and walk down several flights of steps and across a cause-way to reach both beach and pier – beautiful for a short walk and to take in the stunning views towards Croagh Patrick. Cons: if looking for a swim – the beach may be gone at high tide. (MUCH more beautiful than the pic suggests!) ”

Seafood Restaurant
$$$
“This historic, family run pub and restaurant in the heart of the Burren offers a varied menu of top quality, locally- sourced food with several local dishes unique to Cassidy’s – including Burren Mionain (mountain goat). It is the only pub and restaurant business in Ireland run consistently by the same family for the last 200 years. The pub is located in a former British Police (RIC) Barracks and overlooks more than 4000 acres of unique Burren landscape including the largest Turlough (disappearing lake)in Europe. The award winning menu is focused on affordable quality with an emphasis on family dining. All food is freshly prepared on the premises and supplied by local farmers and fishermen and the beef is from the restaurant’s own Shorthorn Herd (Irish breed). Be sure you don’t miss the restaurant’s fantastic selection of home-made desserts – they’re legendary in the Burren area.”

“Stunning views of Fermanagh, Donegal and Sligo from here. Check out the viewpoint on the way up too. Great walks in the forest. You can walk up from the shore road (Belleek to Enniskillen direct road). Steep walk but great views as you ascend. Make sure you go on a clear day!”
