Your guide to Costa Adeje

All About Costa Costa Adeje

Costa Adeje is located in the southwestern part of the volcanic island of Tenerife, the largest and most populous of Spain’s Canary Islands. Here you'll find a quiet town bordered by a 16th century fortified residence and a 17th century Mexican-style church, and glittering volcanic black sand beaches are connected by an epic seaside promenade. The town offers great shopping, upscale restaurants, and water sports such as sailing and diving. Golfers will enjoy a 27 hole course that is one of the most popular courses in Tenerife — it takes you through some of the most beautiful natural terrain that Costa Adeje has to offer.

There are plenty of outdoor activities available in Costa Adeje, where you can go swimming in rock pools, diving in the sea (or paragliding above it), and hiking through spectacular trails. Expect to spot plenty of wildlife in and around Costa Adeje, as the island has one of the largest numbers of endemic species in Europe.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Costa Adeje

In Costa Adeje, temperatures consistently hover around a comfortable 26 degrees Celsius and the sun shines around 320 days a year. The town is located in a subtropical oceanic climate, meaning there’s really no bad time to visit. Although rain falls here between October and March, it’s a small amount, concentrated in the north of Tenerife, with minimal rainfall on the coast (usually less than 250 millimetres). Costa Adeje is also protected from harsh winds.

High season on the island is from January to April, with warm, sunny days and balmy nights. By September, the number of visitors decreases, but the weather and ocean are still warm. In the winter, temperatures can sometimes fall below 20 degrees Celsius, but overall the weather remains fairly mild and sunny.

Top things to do in Costa Adeje

Mount Teide

Situated in the middle of Tenerife, about 45 minutes from Costa Adeje, Mount Teide stands at 3,718 meters above sea level and is the world’s third-largest volcano and Spain’s highest peak. It last erupted back in 1909 which helped to create a unique landscape of craters, volcanoes, and rivers of petrified lava. There’s a cable car to the top, or you can also hike up one of the trails.

Surrounding Mount Teide is Teide National Park, the largest park on the Canary Islands. It’s a unique geological treasure housing volcanoes, craters, vents, lava flows, and that form an impressive array of shapes and colours.

Siam Park

Siam Park is a water park in Costa Adeje and is the largest water attraction in Europe. Opened by the Princess of Thailand, the park features popular rides like a water slide with a built-in laser show and a wave pool with huge 3.3 metre waves. For those who prefer to relax, Siam Park offers a sandy beach and walking trails along a slow-flowing river. The park also has a surf school and a spectacular swimming pool that can create artificial waves of up to three metres.

Playa Del Duque

This beautiful golden sand beach features a promenade with an array of stylish restaurants and cafés. Traditional tapas and Canarian specialities are available at shaded tables along the beach. There’s also a full range of facilities including showers, changing areas, ice-cream kiosks, and sunshades.
