Holiday Rentals in County Louth

Just booked in County Louth

Hatch's Castle has many beautiful features including the Dome Hall, the original spiral staircase, and a wonderfully restored drawing room on the first floor, where you can sit down and relax. We're situated in the lovely town Ardee, which is surrounded by many historic places such as the Jumping Church and Newgrange. There are few restaurants around Ardee and several shops. You can find out more on my Face book page Hatchs Castle.
Walking inside Hatch's castle on the Main Street of Ardee is a feeling of space and tranquility. From that moment you know you have entered a castle that is waiting to be explored. There are four floors, each boasting character and an ambiance of true charm and comfort. Ground floor entrance hall with dome ceiling is also used as a dinning room. The 1st floor has the drawing room with an open fire. Here you can help yourself to a drink, relax, read and unwind. Breakfast can be served here in the large window over looking the Main Street. The 2nd and 3rd floor have a bedroom and private bathroom each. It is possible to see Ardee and its surrounding countryside from the roof. There is a cobble stone yard to sit in and a walled garden to enjoy during the summer months.
Ardee has been a wonderful place to be brought up. Everyone is so friendly and I have to say, I can get everything I need here. Sometimes I realised days have gone by and I never moved the car..! I walk along the old railway and up to the jumping church, great bike rides over the bog, where they cut the turf. Nice tea shops, clothes shop, restaurants and lively Irish pubs. Everyone knows everyone in a simple kind of way.
  • Nikki's is fantastic! So comfortable, clean and a beautiful home. She's a great host

  • The castle was amazing! The room was very comfortable and you felt as though you were in a different time and place. But still with modern amenities. The location is great too, lots of shops and pubs down the street, and the local area near by has a lot to offer. Nikki was a great host and made my stay easy, even when my plans changed due to a cancelled flight. If you get the chance, book a night or two and enjoy!

  • Had a lovely stay at Hatch's Castle. An unique place to spend a night. Nikki has just the right balance of being a welcoming host but absolutely unintrusive. Very cosy bedroom and living room and an incredibly comfortable bed and a sizeable separate bathroom. Good quality restaurant directly next door and a very comprehensive breakfast waiting in the morning. We would be very happy to return.

  • Wonderful stay in a castle! Nikki was a great host. The rooms are very nice and clean. We enjoyed our stay.

  • I highly recommend staying here. Nikki was fantastic and kept up informed leading up to our stay. Breakfast was spot on and the room was exactly what we needed. Best nights sleep I've had in Ireland. Nikki has done a great job with the Castle, it certainly is a unique place to stay. You will not be disappointed here.

  • Our first night in Ireland and we stayed in a castle, awesome. Nikki was excellent, very accomodating, great hospitality and excellent service. Castle was everything it was made out to be plus more.

    Steven2017-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Nikki's castle is AMAZING. We had such a good time. We got in late and scared each other with ghost stories and then woke up to a delicious breakfast. There are so many nooks and crannies to explore, it's like living in a museum. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer, this is a must do!!

    Anthony2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This castle was simple amazing! Modern comforts, like a spacious shower & bathroom, yet still consistent with its castle heritage!! Now we can tell everyone we have slept in a true Irish castle. The breakfast was also delicious, the fresh bread & croissants really hit the spot! :)

My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
Situated in a quiet area 100m from the start of the 8km Greenway between Omeath and Carlingford. Beautiful walk to Carlngford with spectacular views of Carlingford Lough, the Cooley and Mourne mountains.
Beautiful views of Carlingford Lough and surrounding mountains. It's a quiet residential neighbourhood with short walking distance to village centre, hotels, pubs and coffee shop.
  • The accommodation was absolutely perfect! Beautifully decorated, spotless clean, warm, cosy, welcoming and had everything you need to feel right at home! Our stay was made even more enjoyable by Teresa- she is the most warm, friendly and accommodating host who really goes the extra mile to ensure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay! I cannot recommend this place enough- we absolutely loved it and we will definitely be back!

  • Lovely wee place... a real getaway from it all!!! Will be back

  • Teresa and Eamon have a really really cute apartment. I didn't really look at it too much when I was booking as it as it was a last minute thing and I jus. But when we arrived I was sad that I had to go out, and I just wanted to stay in the cosy comfy bed watching movies and snacking on the treats they left us. The room is spotless and everything is brand new. It has alittle kitchenette which has everything you need for a light breakfast, bottled juice, fresh milk, 2 types of bread, tea, coffee and herbal tea...even those little Kelloggs multipack cerals! The shower was devine and also there is a levely little patio with an outdoor heater. If you are going up for a night out in Carlingford I would reccommend staying a second night to just chill out and enjoy the area and the views over the lake. The extra little thing we really appreciated was that Eamon offered to drop us into carlingford when we arrived which was very generous. The taxi back home that evening was 10€ for two people. Highly reccommend.

  • A wonderful 5 star mini flat with a perfect host, Teresa. An absolute recommendation.

    Lukas2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Teresa is a true superhost! As her downstairs room was taken, she offered me the brand-new upstairs apartment, which was a real gem. It was beautifully decorated, very clean and modern, and equipped with everything you might need (including Sky TV). Bathroom products, a fruit plate and some more snacks for breakfast including milk and orange juice were provided. I would book again without hesitation. Thanks so much for this excellent AirBnB experience!

The building is a traditional Irish pub with overhead accom. It is in my family since 1910 and is a place where the locals gather to share a pint and a bit of craic. We have updated the living area while exposing some of the original craftsmanship. It is 1 bedroom with ensuite and a living area with a kitchenette where a single bed can be arranged for an extra guest.
The building was originally a single storey thatch when purchased by my grandfather in 1910. He knocked it and built the present structure in 1912. The pub is said to have been a resting place for the army of William of Orange on their way to the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.
The property is in the village of Knockbridge a consistant medal winner in the annual Tidy Towns competition, close to Dundalk, Blackrock and the medieval town of Carlingford. 5mins will take you to the M1 motorway where Dublin and Belfast can be reached in under 1 hour. Knockbridge is at the heart of Irelands Ancient East, rich in its folklore of CuChulainn (Clochafarmor) and Tain Bo Cuailnge and not to far from Slieve Gullion and the Lake of Sorrows(Fionn MacCumhaill).
  • It was my first ever experience with Airbnb, must say that Con was extremely helpful! He was quick at responding my emails and jumped on a call with me when I needed to ask a couple of things. The apartment is located in a lovely, quiet area. Expected some noise on a Saturday night, but surprisingly, it was really quiet. Apart from being tidy, there also were little things like a coffee machine, a fridge full of goodies and a complimentary bottle of wine. Beautiful place, cosy and spacey, very close to Dundalk too. Can't thank Con and his wife enough for hospitality and a lovely night away from it all. Had a good night sleep, a lovely cuppa in the morning. Will definitely be back soon!

    Irina2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was really clean and stylish. Con was very accommodating. It's in an ideal place for visiting local attractions. Highly recommended.

The Coach House is a unique home with old World character and the garden rolls down onto the Beach. It is a 5 minute coastal walk to the village. Blackrock is a beautiful seaside village with is considered a jewel in the crown of County Louth. Read a recent article in Irish Time http://www.irishtimes.com/opinion/an-irishman-s-diary-1.1017466#.WQBz-lvHyPA.facebook There are fabulous pubs and restaurants with all the charm that local Ireland has to offer. Everyone is welcome at The Coach House
The Coach House was originally built early last century so when renovated 25 years ago we retained the original structures and the current main living room is actually the old stables. The house retains a lot of its old character and my family have lived here since I was a child. The back garden is separated from the sea by a boundary wall but the views of the Cooley mountains and Clogherhead are breathtaking. The house is old and if you listen carefully might even speak to you. If not, I can tell you a few yarns about its history over the years.
Blackrock is a traditional seaside village that people have been enjoying for their holidays for generations. Blackrock has been a place for Dundalk's well-to-do to live for well over a century, but it also became a holiday haven. A century ago, crowds of Scottish holidaymakers used to come over during the summer, while the highlight of the calendar was always August 15th, the Feast of the Assumption, when vast crowds would come from all over counties Louth, Armagh, Down and beyond. Photographs taken in the early 1960s, when it always seemed to be summer, show shoals of cars parked along the Main Street, which is the seafront promenade, and hordes of people on the beach. • Everything about Philip and his place were perfect. He made us feel both special and like family members. His place is like out of a magazine--elegant and well appointed yet cosy and welcoming. And spotless. The breakfast he laid in was great--we had the run of the kitchen. We let us play with his pug, Rambo, because we asked otherwise he keeps him tucked away. Philip knows everyone in town so wherever you go you'll be taken care of is they know you are staying with him. It's any easy safe walk to town from Philips house. It's not easy to walk on the beach itself but the promenade/walkway through town is lovely.

    jude2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend the Coach House. Philip is a warm & welcoming person who made us feel very welcomed in his beautiful home, full of character. Location is fantastic. Just a short stroll from Blackrock, a wonderful village not yet spoiled by tourism. Marie

  • Fabulous B&B to stay at very homely and welcoming Philip is the perfect host and very very helpful very close to the lovely seaside village of blackrock would highly recommend a visit to the coach house blackrock

    Keith2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Philip was a great host and the house was awesome. He had a bottle of wine and a gift for us when we arrived. He also had a printout of all the home details which answered most questions we had. The home had a ton of character and we loved being there. It is a shame we only stayed two days. Philip has a great sense of humor and was fun to talk to over breakfast. Philip was happy to keep Rambo the Pug away but he brought him home when I persisted. Rambo and I became quick pals and we hung out on the couch until the wee hours in the morning telling stories about how awful cats are. I tried to take him home but he wouldn't fit in my backpack. I highly recommend Philip's home.

  • We stopped in this lovely place on our road from Dublin to Northern Ireland. Such a good choice! The house of Philip, his ospitality, the surroundings (and oh! his cute little dog!) are definitely the best we could dream of. We totally recommend Philip's place, and we look forward for a chance to be back, this time for a longer period!

  • Excellent B&B. Very friendly and helpfull owner. Marvelous sea-sight. Beautifull room. Strongly recommended.

  • There aren't enough stars to describe the experience Philip provides! The coach house is spectacular and Philip is an outstanding host. His level of detail and warm and inviting nature puts him far above the rest. The Village of Black Rock is both charming and beautiful. I'd recommend it to anyone and hope to get back someday in the future.

    todd2017-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Coach House gives easily walkable access to Blackrock, which is a lovely little town not yet overrun by tourists. This location is an ideal stepping stone between Dublin & Belfast. The bed was incredibly comfy and the neighborhood was quiet which made for a perfectly restful night. Philip was fantastically interesting and welcoming (and makes excellent eggs for breakfast). All around it's a great spot.

  • Both Rob and I had a fantastic experience spending two nights in Jackie's home. She was a gorgeous host who automatically put put us at ease and welcomed us into her lovely, serene home. Her house is stunning with lovely attention to detail (chocolates with the towels on the super comfy bed!!) We also were treated to lovely home made pancakes on the Sunday morning, which really helped energy levels post our active Saturday cycling around the Mourne mountains. Overall I would highly recommend people to stay with Jackie in beautiful Carlingford!! Thanks for a lovely stay!!!

You are right in the middle of beautiful Carlingford. Jacqueline was a fantastic host, has a great energy about her, extremely welcoming. We will definitely be returning here.

  • Jacqueline was a wonderful host. She welcomed us warmly and gave us some great tips for our stay in Carlingford. She was lovely to chat with, very friendly and kind. Her home was beautifully presented and felt calm and peaceful. The location is perfect, with the lovely ruined Abbey out the back and easy access to the village within a few minutes stroll. I highly recommend staying here!

    Sheila2016-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay and perfect location. Myself and my girlfriend spent the night at Jackie's as a friend of our was getting married in the village. Our only issue was that we needed to leave after only one night, this was of course self inflicted! The room/en suite and Jackie's house is very clean and very beautifully decorated. Jackie displayed the best of Irish hospitality, I knew we were on to a winner when we were offered a cup of tea on arrival and homemade scones for breakfast. We look forward to going back!

    Matthew2016-07-18T00:00:00Z

Cosy old Irish cottage; situated in the northeast corner of County Louth, midway between Belfast and Dublin. In the heart of an area of outstanding natural beauty, with many fascinating historic sites to visit. Close to the seaside village Carlingford which is renowned for its array of restaurants, bars and activities. The cottage itself sits at the foot of Sliabh Foy Mountain; surrounded by wildflower fields, a river, a small fruit tree orchard and in Springtime an abundance of wild garlic.
Entire cottage available for bookings. One double bedroom with a walk in wardrobe area where hangers and drawers are available. There is also a small pull out futon bed at the bottom of the double bed, that could fit up to 2 small children. But does stop the bedroom door from opening fully when used as a bed! A comfortable living area with a double sofa bed and another sofa. A large selection of CDs, DVDs and books along with CD player and radio. There is also a wood burning stove, with fire wood available to burn. The kitchen has a table for four, an oven, microwave, fridge, washing machine and sink utilities. There will also be bottled water for guests to drink as the tap water is not drinkable. The bathroom is rather small. It has a toilet, a shower and there will always be some toiletries available with a fesh set of towels per guest. There is quite a lot of room around the cottage with a BBQ available (if there isnt charcoal in the shed, just ask!) and a seating area to lounge out in the sun, when the sun does make an appearance. Or take your morning coffee or glass of wine out and just enjoy the scenery!
Whether you are looking for a lively weekend or a quieter mid-week break, Carlingford can offer the individual visitor, families, friends and groups, small and large, a memorable and lasting experience. • Took a last minute mountain bike trip to explore the Cooley and Mourne mountains, Seamus' place was the perfect base for our weekend! A stone's throw from the Tain way mountain trail and green way coastal trail, the location was ideal. Making arrangements with Seamus was a breeze, and the cottage was very well equipped for a self catering weekend. A great selection of cd's, board games, sketch pads and a log burning stove kept us entertained when the weather took a turn for the worse! Thanks again Seamus and hope to see you again soon

    Peter2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Charming authentic Irish cottage set close to the little town of Omeath. We booked here looking for somewhere peaceful to do some wedding planning and this cottage was ideal. We cracked open the bottle of red wine left by Seamus and got to work. We really liked the fact the cottage had no tv and took advantage of the CD collection and board games in the evening. Who knew Jenga could get so competitive! Overall we had a great stay and have already recommended EireBnB to friends and family.

    Dennis2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • I've stayed in a lot of Airbnbs, but Seamus just goes that extra mile. The fire was laid and ready for lighting, there a wide array in instruments to choose from, art supplies, and a sketch-book style guest book. Everything that one could possibly need, from entertainment to emergency, was set and ready. We had arrived late and left early and I dearly wish we had booked more time, but we will be back.

    Ashland2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent cottage with lots of things you need for a trip away. Seamus is an excellent host and the location and view of the mountain is stunning. Will be back!

  • We (a group of friends - six 30+ year olds) absolutely loved Caevas place in Blackrock. The house is located in a private gated area in the heart of blackrock village surrounded by shops, cafes, bars etc - which makes it very convenient. The house is on the beach with a public walk way in front of the lawn.. it’s spectacular with breathtaking views of the ocean and mountains in the distance. There was plenty of firewood on arrival for us to start the gorgeous fire and Caeva also left us wine and jam!! Caeva gave us a tip to go to Neptune pub and we had the best time there on the Saturday night.. I highly recommend the house and the village for a holiday with friend or family.

  • We enjoyed the time very much. The apartment is beautiful and has every comfort. :)

  • Beautiful, scenic, spacious house within a secure gated community. Very smooth checkin and out. Stunning views of the ebbing and flowing tides. Beside lots of shops, restaurants and a beach. Suited my family's needs perfectly as we were attending a wedding in the local church which was only a few 100 meters away. Highly recommend this house for anyone wanting to stay in the area.

  • My family of four had a wonderful two-night stay at this lovely home. We really appreciated the welcoming basket and information about nearby restaurants and sites to visit. The house is well stocked and the extra towels came in handy when paddling in the sea which is only a two minute walk away. Shops, bars and restaurants including a "chippy" are within walking distance. It is also well situated for an early morning flight out of Dublin airport which is an easy 45 minute drive. Despite its central location it is vey quiet at night an it was lovely lying in bed and listening to the gentle lap of the waves as the tide came in!

  • I can't stress how lovely the view is from this home. The location in Blackrock is terrific and offers a perfect get away for a couple or a family.

  • Caroline and bella, her dog, were absolutely the BEST! I would highly recommend staying with her if you find yourself in dundalk!!

    Emily2017-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent time staying with Caroline. Caroline has incredibly responsive, helpful and friendly, agreeing to let us check-in a little early and having a cup of tea and a chat ready for us when we arrived! The room itself was beautiful, clean and very spacious with everything that you could possibly need (including all of the little toiletries that are prone to being forgotten when travelling!) In the morning, Caroline also provided us with a lovely breakfast with lots of food and drink to choose from. Overall, I would definitely recommend Caroline's place to anyone considering visiting Dundalk.

    Naoise2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline was very welcoming. She explained very well the things we see around us by providing the same useful documentation. The house and the room are clean, there are no problems. Caroline has even offered to take us into the city center and come back for us if needed. It was really perfect.

    Frédéric2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Hi, I have traveled I have 17 years old and my cousin 24 years, I have gone to a itf tennis tournament and have been great with Caroline have not lacked anything, every possible attention and explanations of all, I took a day Dublin because she had to do something and spectacular all, charming her puppy. Very glad all, if I had to play again in dundalk not hesitate to get in touch with her.

    Maribel2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline is really a perfect host! The room with shower is generous, beautiful and clean. It has everything you need for an overnight stay, even for a longer period of time. Dog lovers will get their money's worth. Caroline took us to the village center and picked us up again. It would be on foot but feasible. Highly recommended!

    Ralf2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home in wonderful location. She made us feel completely welcome and comfortable in her private home. She thought of every need and want we could have asked for and offered very helpful insights to us as foreign travellers.

    Elisabeth2017-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Caroline's place so much last summer that we decided to go back this year ! The bedroom is beautiful and has its own big bathroom. Breakfast was great, with several very nice jams to choose from ! Caroline is a wonderful host, always making sure we don't lack anything. We followed her advice and went to Sliabh Gullion and then on the scenic drive around the Mourne mountains. Beautiful scenery ! Merci Caroline and maybe see you again next year !! • Caroline was a fabulous host and was so welcoming! We had the most perfect stay and everything was beyond our expectations. Caroline's home is full of character and beautifully decorated throughout. The bedroom and en suite are large and bright. Breakfast was delicious and we even had the pleasure of listening to Bruce Springsteen as we ate! Caroline was so friendly and kind, we feel as it we have known her for years! We were so impressed and highly recommend Caroline.

  • What a truly incredible house! I stayed here with five friends and we had a great time Plenty of room for a larger group and such a cool spot! It's an old-fashioned country cottage with some nice modernizations, but the rustic feel and the location outside of town made for a really unique place. We all agreed: 5 out of 5 stars, would recommend to anyone looking to get a bit off of the beaten track.

The only problem is that the 2 rooms overlooking the street and it can be noisy at night. The area is very beautiful and unknown to tourists. Morne Mountains are beautiful and Carlingford next is a beautiful village. To recommend !

It was also close to a beach for walks and only a short drive to Carlingford lough and the town for dinner and lots of great pubs. Thoroughly recommend it. We will be back!

Ideal for families or walkers wanting a relaxing break within a short distance from Carlingford.
Extensive outdoor area, with garden furniture.
The cottage is situated off the main road from Omeath to Carlingford, up a narrow country road.
  • We have just returned from our 2 night stay in Wild Rose Cottage in Carlingford. I went with my sister, my kids and her kids.. What can we say...? A beautiful cottage with stunning views. Safe and plenty of space for our children (5 kids between 5 and 9) plenty of space to run outside. This cottage is so clean and comfortable, we loved all the homely touches. Anne was very welcoming and we will absolutely return. This was not our first time in Carlingford but it was in Wild Rose cottage. We hope to Stay in Wild Rose Cottage next time too.

    Fiona2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Anne's house is in an amazing setting - beautiful views of the lough and lovely outdoor garden area with lots of seating & even a brazier. We had very rainy weather while we were there & sadly couldn't avail of the garden. Only one small down side of the cottage was that we were a party of 7 and the kitchen/living area is too small for this size of a party. - we couldn't all sit at the table together to eat (although if the weather was nice we would have been outside!) Also only one 3 seater couch & one arm chair so relaxing in the evenings was a bit tricky. It's a beautiful cottage, clean, well equipped and very peaceful. Perfect for a slightly smaller group than ours or if you are luckier than us with the weather! Fabulous part of the country to visit. There is a back lane to the village but in my opinion it's not a very easy walking distance unless you are fit, & I wouldn't like to try walking home after a few pints! Will be back to the area it's really beautiful & already miss the beautiful views from Anne's cottage.

    Pamela 2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, homely cottage and extremely well equipped. Everything we needed plus more. The views from the garden and all the windows was simply amazing a lovely location. Beds very comfy and even had tea, coffee and milk, along with bottle of prosecco to welcome us! Lit the fire one evening as was a bit of a storm and was very warm and sung- really cosy. Did not meet Anne as we arrived very early and left early too but the communication was great and very fast responses with very clear directions. Would highly recommend to anyone with a family wanting a beautiful place to stay to really experience Ireland. Thanks Anne. Sarah Hawkins

Stunning 3 bed house overlooking the beautiful beach and the heart of Blackrock village. Kitchen and living area are on the 2nd floor overlooking the beach There are 3 double rooms (1 King & 2 Queen), 2 bathrooms, free wifi and satellite tv.
This is a stunning townhouse seconds from the beach and the vibrant village of Blackrock just a short stroll away. The view takes you right out to the beach and sea across to the Cooley Mountains.
The village has everything to great seafood restaurants to an assortment of takeaway restaurants. Plenty of shops and amusements. There are some great walks in the area and Dublin is just less than an hour away, Carlingford is half hour away, Dundalk 10 mins and Belfast 1 hour 20 mins.
  • We had traveled from Chicago to Heathrow then to Dublin via Ryanair - 24 hours straight and to arrive in 30 min. after procuring our rental car in Blackrock w/ our host Ms. McEvilly waiting and the house open and full of essentials was absolutely perfect. Tea, good Irish brown loaf, marmalade and other snacks with a quick explanation of the houses' workings and we were 'in'. We walked a few steps to the beach and then to a supermarket, chippie, and a charming pub. My mom told us of the history of this seaside town, it was a really special night and the perfect way to begin an Irish tour. The house was comfortable - we were a party of four, and I opted for the couch, but 3 couples would be fine there, using the queen size beds. Top marks for this property- and a great 'base' for exploring other parts of Ireland since it's close to motorway. We will be back.

    dave2015-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Listing was very accurate. This is a really lovely house and a pleasure to stay in; looking right out onto the sea. The beds were so comfortable, it was some of the best sleep I've had in a while and every cooking utensil you could possibly need was in the kitchen so we cooked a few meals. It's an 'upside down house' - which is genius - so the kitchen and living room are on the first floor for added privacy and even better views of the beach. The location is great as it's right at the top of Blackrock town. A short stroll down the seafront and there are great places to eat (recommend Belles Cafe/Tea Room for breakfast/lunch) and drink (recommend The Neptune and The Clermont Arms). The cleverly named Black Wok does very good Chinese food, if that tickles your fancy.

The house itself is fabulous, so full of light, and as others have said the photos do not do it justice. • Excellent spacious appartment

    Dermot2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Ciaran’s 2 bedroom apartment is on the ground floor of a small two-storey complex in an estate of similar buildings. The location is quiet, it was easy to find and there is plenty of parking in the adjoining residents’ parking area. It is only a few minutes’ walk from the stadium, and about 20-30 minutes’ walk from town. Ciaran was not available however Kevin met us right on time and let us in to the apartment. There is a useful house manual including listings for restaurants and food delivery. The apartment is bright and roomy, with ample space for our group of 3 adults. AirBnB says there is no free parking, wifi, washer or bath, when in fact all of these are there. It is good value for money and a handy stop on the way to Belfast. The only issue we had is that the complex is poorly sound-proofed between apartments, particularly the unit above who have children. This noise can be a disturbance for light sleepers if it’s in the early hours of the morning.

We arrived late in the evening on our first day in Ireland and they welcomed us with a cup of hot tea and a slice of cake. Great communication. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • The house, view and host were all exceptional. House is very private, cosy, clean, beautifully decorated, very well stocked with food (essentials and lots more), towels, shampoos, fuel for fire, etc Views are stunning, nothing like waking up to that view of the river / lough. Location is great for those with a car, 10 minute drive from the many shops in Newry and lots of places nearby for walks and views. Nicola is superb, I was proposing to my girlfriend over the weekend and Nicola had a fire and candles (which she had gone to buy especially) lighting on arrival, a convenient lockbox to pick up the key, a bottle of bubbly in the fridge and a willingness to help and give privacy as required. She is incredibly obliging and generous, I can't thank her enough for making the weekend so special.

Carlingford is a European Destination of Excellence. The magical town lies in Ireland's Northeast corner of Country Louth which is midway between Dublin and Belfast, right at the beginning of Ireland's Ancient East. Carlingford and the Cooley Peninsular, the Land Of Giants, has a rich history with many famous Celtic Heroes and legends to its tribute. The town has many excellent restaurants, pubs and cafes and the night life is festive and well known in Ireland for its great craic. Local Eateries are committed to the "eat local" food movement. The area is ideal for families, couples and romantic getaways alike. There are many adventure and outdoor activities available both on and off Carlingford Lough suitable for the whole family. The cottage has a small river running through the garden which my children have played in for ages and are convinced found fairies. I invite all children to join the adventure and search to see if they can find them. The house is fully equipped for children with books, lego, drawing material etc. Walk into Carlingford using the Omeath-Carlingford Greenway (which is just in front of the cottage). Perfect for cycling, hiking, hill walking, advendure sports, relaxing and just being away from it all.

  • Thanks so much for the lovely stay Jessica. The cottage is beautiful with lots of tasteful touches. We found it so comfortable and provided everything that we needed for a great stay. The position of the cottage is amazing as is the view. The photos on Airbnb don't do it justice - simply amazing!! Lying in bed looking out over Carlingford Lough with lights reflected on sea was so special. Unfortunately we missed the Northern Lights which everyone said were seen the night before! Thank you for accommodating us at such short notice. We had a short stay but we will definitely be back soon :)

  • A beautiful cottage which is very close to St Jame's Castle and only minutes away from everything in the town centre. The cottage is clean, cosy and very homely with an outstanding mountain view out the back. We really enjoyed PJ O'Hare's for food and drinks, and the drive along the Cooley Peninsula stopping off at Fitzpatrick's, a rustic traditional pub with more great food and the best Halloween display I've ever seen.

In the morning, he prepared us our breakfast and we had a great tour with him and his dog in the park nearby while learning a lot about Ireland and the region. Highly recommended!

  • Peadar was a very good and helpful host! He had left lots of leaflets on the local amenities and attractions in and around Dundalk which was great to have! Everywhere was clean and comfortable. Great location also.

  • Great place very clean, Peter's very nice and located right near everything I needed .

    Donal2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • My only regret with going to Peader was that he set such a high standard I will.be comparing everyone else to him. Respected privacy, polite, courteous and was very interesting to hear about his life. His dog patches was one of the coolest dogs I met. For that price it is a steal, Peader you could of charged double that and I would of been delighted and the breakfast spread was very professional. If ever I'm in the area there is no question I'd book it again.

    Archie2016-05-26T00:00:00Z
